WHEN BRAKING THE ABS BRAKE SYSTEM LOCKS. IT LOCKS UP INTO A LIMITED SLIP MODE WHILE BRAKING AT A NORMAL STOP. IT DOES NOT BRAKE CORRECTLY. IT PUMPS BADLY WHILE ATTEMPTING TO STOP. THIS HAPPENS MULTIPLE TIME A DAY WHEN DRIVING. HAVE TO BREAK WAY BEFORE NEEDING TO BECAUSE IT WILL SLIP. TYPICALLY HAPPENS IN PARKING LOTS AND REGULAR STREETS WHEN USING BREAKS. IN MOTION. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE MARCH 2020.
I'VE OWNED THIS VEHICLE FOR ONE YEAR. I AM HAVING TROUBLE WITH THE BRAKE LIGHT CONSTANTLY COMING ON, EVEN DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD IT COMES ON. HAD THE BRAKES REPLACED AND FLUID IS GOOD BUT IT CONSTANTLY COMES ON. AT THE SAME TIME I HAD MY MECHANIC LOOK BECAUSE ON OCCASION WHEN IT'S PUT INTO PARK, IT SHUTS ITSELF OFF. *TR
THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES ON THIS VEHICLE HAVE BEEN MALFUNCTIONING FOR AT LEAST A YEAR. THE PUMP WILL SURGE AT LOW SPEEDS AND IF I AM IN A TURN IT WILL AFFECT THE STEERING. THE LEFT FRONT WHEEL WILL LOCK UP.
MY 2000 BLAZER LS 2DR 4X4 HAS IPC PROBLEMS. THE IPC LIGHTS HAVE GONE OUT AND DO NOT ILLUMINATE THE GAUGES, THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD WHEN DRIVING. THE ABS AND PARKING BRAKE INDICATOR LIGHTS GO ON AND OFF. THE PARKING BRAKE STICKS AND WONT RELEASE. DUE TO THE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS, RECALLS, AND SERVICE BULLETINS ISSUED ON THESE SAFETY PROBLEMS I THINK MORE SHOULD BE DONE TO HOLD THE MANUFACTURER RESPONSIBLE FOR REPAIRING THESE DEFECTS. THE FIRST 11 DIGITS OF MY VIN MATCH AT LEAST 2 OTHER VEHICLES FIRST 11 DIGITS AND YET CHEVY DOESN'T FEEL THEY SHOULD FIX THE ISSUE WITH ALL BLAZERS. I AM CONCERNED WITH THE SAFETY OF MY VEHICLE. *TR
2000 CHEVY BLAZER - ABS SYSTEM ACTIVATES AT LOW SPEED. HAS TO DRIVE INTO A DITCH TO AVOID HITTING A BICYCLER. REPAIR SHOP SAID WHEEL SPEED SENSORS ARE PROBABLY CORRODED. GM HAS A RECALL IN 2005 ON LARGE SUVS BUT NOT THE BLAZER, ALTHOUGH IT'S THE SAME SENSOR. *TR
ABS ENGAGES AT VERY LOW SPEEDS ON DRY PAVEMENT. BRAKES SLIP CAUSING LONGER BRAKING/STOPPING DISTANCE. ABS LIGHT COMES ON BRIEFLY AFTER THE EVENT TAKES PLACE. THIS PRESENTS FOR DANGEROUS ROAD CONDITIONS, ESPECIALLY IN TOWN/CITY ENVIRONMENT WHERE OFTEN INSTANTANEOUS BRAKING DECISIONS OCCUR (CHILDREN PLAYING, ANIMALS CROSSING, ETC.). *TR
2000 CHEVY BLAZER HAS ABS LIGHT COME ON. WHEN THIS OCCURS THE BRAKES DO NOT WORK. IT DOES NOT MATTER IF THE SPEED IS EXTREMELY LOW-OR GOING 55MPH-65MPH DEPENDING ON POSTED SPEED LIMIT. IF YOU BARELY TOUCH THEM IT SLIPS/DOES NOT GRAB. IF YOU TRY TO PUMP THE BRAKE PEDAL IT GOES TO THE FLOOR TWO OR THREE TIMES BEFORE CATCHING. YOU CAN HEAR A NOISE BEFORE THE ABS LIGHT COMES ON-YOU CAN FEEL THE BRAKE PEDAL GET TIGHT AND THEN REAL LOOSE BEFORE LIGHT COMES ON. THE LIGHT DOES NOT STAY ON, NOR DO YOU HAVE A WARNING ABOUT IT COMING ON. I JUST HAD NEW BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS PUT ON- THE BRAKES SHOULD BE BETTER THAN NEW- HOWEVER, DOES'NT MATTER IF THEY ARE BEING TOLD BY A SENSOR OR OTHER COMPUTER CHIP/LIGHT THAT THEY DON'T WORK! I'VE BEEN TOLD IT IS THE ABS BRAKE MOTOR VALVE BODY ASSEMBLY PART, THAT IS MALFUNCTIONING. PLEASE INVESTIGATE BEFORE SOMEBODY GETS HURT OR DIES. THERE IS ALSO ANOTHER WOMAN AT MY WORK WHO HAS THE SAME VEHICLE AND HAS THE SAME PROBLEM ON OCCASSION, THEY HAVE SPENT DAYS TRYING TO IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 CHEVROLET BLAZER. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO STOP THE VEHICLE AND THE ABS ENGAGED. THE CONTACT HAD TO APPLY MORE BRAKE PRESSURE IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FRONT HUB WHEEL SPEED SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THERE WERE NO PRIOR WARNINGS. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 73,640. UPDATED 12-04-08 *BF THE DEALER REPLACED THE WHEEL SPEED SENSORS. UPDATED 12/10/08. *JB
THE ABS GRADUALLY CAME ON. WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES, THE WHEELS LOCK UP AND THE BLAZER SKIDS ABOUT A FOOT. I HAVE HAD NUMEROUS NEAR ACCIDENTS BECAUSE OF THE ABS. I TOOK THE BLAZER INTO THE CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP AND THEY RAN THE VIN. I WAS TOLD THAT THERE ARE NO RECALLS FOR MY BLAZER. HOWEVER, ACCORDING TO THE NHTSA WEBSITE, THERE ARE TWO RECALLS (00V055000 & 99V220000). I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHETHER OR NOT THERE ARE ANY RECALLS. *TR
THE ABS MODULE WENT BAD. SYMPTOMS WERE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES ACTIVATING AT LOW SPEEDS AND VEHICLE NOT STOPPING. YOU PUSH THE BRAKES AND THE PEDAL PUSHED BACK AT YOU. THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM FOR THESE VEHICLES. I HAD TO REMOVE THE ABS FUSE BECAUSE IT WAS SAFER TO HAVE NOT HAVE ABS THAN TO APPLY BRAKES AND NOT BEING ABLE TO STOP. THE PART IS ALSO UNAVAILABLE FROM AFTERMARKET STORES, DEALER ONLY ITEM AT $500 A PIECE. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED. *TR
I OWN A 2000 CHEVY BLAZER AND WHEN IT RAINS THE BRAKES GO OUT THE VEHICLE WILL NOT STOP THE PEDAL WON'T GO TO THE FLOOR AND IT WHEN YOU TRY TO PUSH THE BREAKS IT MAKES A FUNNY CLICKING KIND OF NOISE AND THE PEDAL JUST HOPS NOT LETTING YOU BREAK. THEN WHEN YOU TAKE OFF AFTER YOU STOPPED (BY THE EMERGENCY BREAK)THE BACK END SLIDES SIDEWAYS LIKE THE FRONT BREAKS ARE LOCKED UP. I ALMOST KILLED MYSELF AND MY KIDS BECAUSE I COULDN'T STOP! THAT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS! IT ONLY HAPPENS WHEN IT RAINS OR GO THROUGH WATER. OTHERS WITH THE SAME KIND OF VEHICLE SAID THE HAD THAT PROBLEM AS WELL. *NM

LIVE IN TN, OFTEN TRAVEL TO MI ANTI-LOCK BRAKE PUMP WOULD ENGAGE AT 10 MPH WHEN BRAKING IN NORMAL CONDITIONS. SAME PROBLEM AND SOLUTION AS THE VEHICLES IN GM'S CURRENT TRUCK AND SUV RECALL, BUT THIS IS A 2000 BLAZER. *JB
I NOTCED SEVERAL TIMES WHEN I WOULD STOP THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD JUIMP FORWARD AND NOT COMPLETELY STOP. I WAS GOING TO THE GARAGE TO SEE MY MECHANIC. MY FAMILY AND I WERE ALMOST HIT BROADSIDE WHEN I TRIED TO STOP AT A RED LIGHT. WHEN I PUT ON THE BRAKES I SLOWED DOWN BUT WHEN I GOT UNDER 10MPH THE VEHICLE STARTED TO JUMP. THE VEHICLE FINALLY SPOPPED AFTER I WAS THROUGH THE INTERSECTION. THE MECHANIC TOLD ME THAT THE FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS WERE WORN. HE SAID THAT THE SENSORS FOR THE ABS SYSTEM WERE IN THE BEARINGS. SO WHEN I TRIED TO STOP THE ABS SYSTEM KICKED IN. THAT IS WHY I COULDN'T STOP ! THIS WAS A VERY FRIGHTENING EXPERIENCE FOR ME AND MY FAMILY. THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN! THE MECHANIC REPLACED THE FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS AND THE VEHICLE SEEMS OK NOW. I AM CONCERNED THAT THIS WILL HAPPEN AGAIN. THE VEHICLE IS ONLY 5 YRS OLD.
THE HANDLE THAT ALLOWS YOU TO RECLINE THE SEAT BROKE OFF FLUSHED WITH THE SEAT, THIS HAPPENED TO BOTH THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SEATS IN JUNE 2005. THE HOOD WILL NOT POP UP WHEN THE LEVER WAS PULLED UNTIL ONE BANGED ON THE GRILL OR THE HOOD IN CERTAIN SPOTS, WHICH JUST STARTED IN MARCH OF 2007. THE GAS MILEAGE DROPPED FROM 20 MPG TO 16 MPG WITHIN 6 MONTHS. THE BACK GLASS STUCK AND WAS HARD TO OPEN, STARTED IN 2006. WHEN TURNING ON THE AIR CONDITIONER (A/C ) THE CAR HAD NO POWER, I HAVE TO TURN IT OFF WHEN ACCELERATING ON THE INTERSTATE OR ON HILLS. IF THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS SET IT KICKED OFF WHEN THE A/C WAS ON. WHEN I NEEDED TO STOP QUICKLY THE BRAKES FAILED, AND FELT A GRINDING SENSATION THROUGH THE PEDAL, BUT THE MECHANIC CHANGED THE BRAKES AND CHECKED THE ROTORS, BUT HASN'T FOUND ANY PROBLEM. SUSPECTED A DEFECT SOMEWHERE IN THE BRAKE SYSTEM\ AS OF 2005. THE FAN KICKED ON ALL THE TIME, EVEN WHEN THE ENGINE WAS COLD, AND IN WINTER WHEN FIRST STARTING. ONE MECHANIC TOLD ME THAT IN MANY BLAZERS THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER BROKE OFF IN THE MUFFLER, WHICH HAD TO BE REPLACED. HAD BEEN TOLD THIS HAPPENED SO MUCH THAT MOST PEOPLE LEFT THEM OFF. TOO MANY OTHER PROBLEMS TO MENTIONED. ALSO, THE HORN WORKED ONLY WHEN IT WANTED TO, PROBLEM IN THE STEERING WHEEL. *AK
BOTH BRAKE-ABS LIGHTS COME ON INTERMITTENTLY. VEHICLE INTO DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES WITH DIFFERENT DIAGNOSIS, EVEN THOUGH, SPEED SENSOR WAS MENTIONED EACH TIME BUT NEVER REPAIRED. CURRENTLY, GM RECALL FOR SPEED SENSOR BRAKE PROBLEM DOES NOT INCLUDE 2000 CHEVY BLAZER NOR THE STATE OF MISSOURI. THIS IS STILL A ONGOING PROBLEM ON MY VEHICLE. *JB
GOING ABOUT 30 MPH TO ENTER FREEWAY ON ONRAMP, I PUT ON MY BRAKES AS TRAFFIC WAS SLOWING. TRAFFIC THEN SLOWED QUICKLY AND I PUSHED BRAKES DOWN HARDER AND PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND CAR DIDNT STOP CAUSING ME TO HIT THE BACK FOR THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT WAS A PROBLEM WITH ABS BRAKES AT SLOWER STOPPING SPEEDS AND THAT NOTHING COULD BE DONE TO CORRECT IT AND THAT NOTHING WOULD SHOW ON THE COMPUTER. I CALLED A BRAKE SHOP AND WAS BASICLY TOLD THE SAME THING. THAT ABS BRAKES AT SLOW SPEEDS ARE A PROBLEM, THEY COULD PUT IT ON A MACHINE TO CHECK CODES BUT WERE 99.9% SURE AS USUAL IT WOULD SHOW NOTHING.
THE ANTI LOCK BRAKES FAILED TO STOP MY 2000 BLAZER IN TIME TO AVOID HITTING A DEER. I CONTACTED GM AND THEY TOLD ME THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO FOR ME, THERE HAD BEEN NO RECALL ON THE 2000 BLAZER LIKE THERE WAS ON OTHER MODELS OF SUV'S OF THE SAME YEAR. I HAD THE PROBLEM REPAIRED ON MY OWN. IT IS MY BELIEF THAT THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THIS SUV TO PREVENT ANYONE FROM BEING INJURED OR KILLED DUE TO BRAKE FAILING. THERE WAS $3200.00 DAMAGE ON MY BLAZER AND IT COST $192.00 TO HAVE THE PROBLEM REPAIRED.*JB

I CURRENTLY KEEP THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES UNPLUGGED AS THEY ARE NOT SAFE. YOU THINK YOU ARE STOPPING AND THEN THE CAR LUNGES FORWARD AS THE BRAKE ACTS UP. THE ACCIDENT CAUSED ME TO GET A TICKET AND HAVE HIGHER INSURANCE PREMIUMS. *JB
