TAKATA POSSIBLE. I'M NEW TO THIS BUT I SEE RECALLS ON MY CAR AND MY AIR BAG LIGHT IS ON FOR NO REASON AND DEALERSHIP TELLS ME NO RECALL. I AM NOT SURE WHAT TO DO. AS I PUT MY VIN IN AND IT DOES SHOW AIR BAG RECALL MUSSON PATOUT DEALERSHIPS SAYS NO AND WANTS ME TO PAY. IS THERE ANY HELP. JUST CAME ON SERVICE AIR BAG DRIVING NO SPECIAL REASON.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 CHEVROLET CAMARO. WHILE AT A STOP SIGN, THERE WAS A LOUD NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE WRIST PINS AND THE PISTON WERE FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 34,000.
VEHICLE WOULD NOT START; REPAIRED AND THEN SYMPTOM HAPPENED AGAIN. SAID TO BE A FAULTY WATER BLADDER DESIGNED TO REMOVE LEAKING WATER FROM CONVT TOP IN THE TRUNK AREA, CAUSED BY TWO BUTTONS ON THE CONVERTIBLE TOP MISSING. DEALER SUGGESTED USING A CAR COVER TO PREVENT IT FROM HAPPENING AGAIN. PROBLEM: THE DESIGN IS FLAWED AND THERE IS NO NOTICE THAT SOMETHING THIS DANGEROUS COULD HAPPEN. WHEN THE ELECTRICAL PARTS FAILED, (ENTIRE WIRE LOOM WAS COMPROMISED WITH NO WARNING!) NO SAFETY ITEMS WOULD WORK. IF VEHICLE WAS ON MAJOR HIGHWAY, DEATH WOULD PROBABLY OCCUR. VEHICLE(S) SHOULD BE RECALLED AND NEW SYSTEM DESIGNED TO ELIMINATE WATER INTRUSION. I UNDERSTAND FROM INTERNET THIS IS AN ONGOING SAFETY PROBLEM. I WAS CHARGED $ BECAUSE WATER LEAKS ARE NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY. DUE TO A DESIGN FLAW AND NO NOTIFICATION FROM THE COMPANY OF THE DANGERS OF THIS DESIGN FLAW; NO MENTION ANYWHERE IN THE OPERATIONS MANUAL REGARDING THE LOCATION OF THE? BUTTONS? OR THE WATER BLADDER, OR THE CHANCE THAT THE VEHICLE COULD BECOME DISABLED DUE TO THE DESIGN FLAW. THIS VEHICLE, WITH THIS PROBLEM COULD HAVE SHUT DOWN ON ANY OF THE MANY HIGHWAYS I DRIVE LEAVING ME, OR WORSE, MY WIFE IN DANGER AND POWERLESS WITH NO WARNING OF ANY PROBLEM. WHEN THE WIRE LOOM IN MY CAMARO AND FUSE BOX FAILED, ALL BRAKE LIGHTS AND ALL OTHER POWER FAILED. THIS REMINDS ME OF AN INCIDENT YEARS AGO ON THE PENNSYLVANIA/NEW JERSEY WALT WHITMAN BRIDGE WHERE A NEW FORD PRODUCT WAS RUN OVER AND ALL FOUR OCCUPANTS KILLED BY A TRACTOR TRAILER. THE CAUSE WAS FOUND TO BE A BAD COMPUTER MODULE.
2012 CAMARO HAS HAD POWER DOWN PROBLEMS WHILE JUST MERGING ON INTERSTATE STARTED AT 40,000 MILES. AIR BAG MODULE CLAIMED BY DEALERSHIP IF THE PROBLEM AND WILL COST TO FIX ALONG WITH THROTTLE CONTROL BODY. CAR HAD BEEN DIAGNOSED BY ANOTHER DEALER BUT NOTHING WAS TOLD COULD BE THE TAKA AIRBAG RECALL BUT NOT SURE WITH PRICE OF 1500 FOR REPAIRS THIS ALSO INCLUDES BREAK CHANGING I'M SURE IS NOT THE MAJOR COST. I'VE BEEN TRYING TO GET THIS AIRBAG ISSUE ADDRESSED. THE POWER DOWN AND A DASH INFO POP UP FIRST CAME AT 36000 MILE. ALL ISSUES HAVE BEEN ON HIGHWAY 90 ALSO INTERSTATE 10 ON RAMP AND GENERAL DRIVING.
ON RS MODELS WITH THE HID HEADLIGHTS, THE PLASTIC REFLECTOR FOR THE HID CAPSULE CRACKS AND BREAKS DOWN, GREATLY REDUCING LIGHT OUTPUT. THIS IS AN INTERNAL COMPONENT TO THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY.

THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,849.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TORQUE CONVERTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 17,000.

THE DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG FAILED TO DEPLOY AND THE DRIVER'S HEAD STRUCK THE STEERING WHEEL. THE DRIVER RECEIVED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,000.
WHILE DRIVING WITH TRAFFIC ON 6 LANE ROAD WITH 45 MPH SPEED LIMIT, THE VEHICLE, A 2012 CHEVROLET CAMARO CONVERTIBLE, WAS STRUCK FROM THE REAR BY A BOX TRUCK AT SPEED CAUSING A SIGNIFICANT DELTA-V EVENT. UPON INITIAL IMPACT, THE STEERING WHEEL, AIRBAG, IGNITION LOCK, TURN SIGNAL AND WIPER SWITCH ASSEMBLY, SPLINE SHAFT AND METAL CYLINDER FROM THE TILT/TELESCOPING ASSEMBLY SEPARATED FROM THE VEHICLE AS A SINGLE ASSEMBLY. THE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY STRUCK THE DRIVER IN THE CHEST AND JAW, BREAKING THE MANDIBLE IN MULTIPLE PLACES. DRIVER ALSO SUSTAINED COMPRESSION FRACTURE OF THE T12 VERTEBRA AMONG OTHER INJURIES. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED MOVING FORWARD AFTER THE INITIAL IMPACT BUT DRIVER COULD NOT STEER WITH THE SEPARATED STEERING WHEEL. VEHICLE DRIFTED OFF THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ROAD STRIKING A 6? I-BEAM SUPPORTING A ROAD SIGN. ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS TO THE AIRBAG AND IGNITION SEPARATED DURING THE INITIAL IMPACT. DRIVER WAS THE SOLE OCCUPANT OF THE CAMARO AND WAS USING SEAT BELTS AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT. *TR
AS MY 2012 CAMARO HAS BEEN ISSUED A VIN RECALL, I WANT TO LET CHEVROLET, THE PUBLIC AT LARGE AND MY LOCAL CHEVY DEALERSHIP IN COLORADO THAT I AM UTTERLY DISGUSTED WITH THE OFFERED TREATMENT OF THIS RECALL STATED AS "REMEDY: DEALERS ARE TO PROVIDE TWO REPLACEMENT KEY RINGS. VEHICLES WITH SLOTTED KEYS WILL ALSO RECEIVE KEY INSERTS." MY REASONS FOR NOT BEING SATISFIED WITH THIS DESCRIPTION IS BECAUSE HAVING MY KEYS CUT OFF THE REMOTE CONTROL AND GIVEN SECONDARY KEYS AS ANOTHER THING TO KEEP TRACK OF IS NOT WHAT WAS PAID FOR WHEN PURCHASING THE VEHICLE. WHY SHOULD I SETTLE FOR A FIX (THAT IS SUBSTANDARD TO WHAT ORIGINALLY CAME WITH THE VEHICLE)? WHY SHOULD I SETTLE FOR WHATEVER GM DECIDES TO GIVE ME AS REPLACEMENT IN ORDER FOR THEM TO COMPLY WITH THAT WHICH THEY SHOULD HAVE COMPLIED WITH TO BEGIN WITH? IN MY EYES, CHEVROLET IS SEEKING A QUICK FIX IN ORDER FOR THEM TO SAVE DOLLARS AND WHAT DO I GET IN RETURN FOR THE THOUSANDS I PAID THEM? I GET A SUBSTANDARD REPLACEMENT OF A NECESSARY ITEM. A COSMETIC DEBACLE SO THAT CHEVY CAN COMPLY WITH THE 465,000 VEHICLES THEY CONTINUED TO ALLOW ON THE ROAD "AS IS" UNTIL CAUGHT BY THE LAW. NOW I ASK, WHAT WILL THIS DO TO THE VALUE OF THE VEHICLE DOWN THE ROAD? CHEVROLET OWES ME EXACTLY WHAT I PAID FOR: BRAND NEW IGNITION WITH BRAND NEW REMOTE CONTROL KEYS JUST AS THEY ARE WHEN PURCHASED WITH THE VEHICLE. A REMEDY SHOULD BE AN IMPROVEMENT NOT INSTEAD, 3 STEPS BACKWARD. I AM THOROUGHLY DISGUSTED ABOUT THIS RECALL REMEDY AND WITH CHEVROLET'S POOR DECISION MAKING VALUES. *TR
ON 9/13/2014, MY WIFE DROVE MY 2012 CHEVY CAMARO ZL11 TO HER DADS, WHEN SHE LEFT SHE PULLED OUT OF HIS DRIVE WAY AND STOPPED AT STOP SIGN, SHE TOOK OFF IN FIRST GEAR SHE SAID WHEN SHE SHIFTED THE CAR INTO SECOND GEAR THE CAR JUST TOOK OFF SHE SAID IT ACTED LIKE SOMETHING JUST TOOK OVER, LIKE A CRUISE CONTROL, EXCEPT NO MATTER WHAT SHE DID INCLUDING HITTING THE BRAKE THE CONTINUED TO INCREASE IN SPEED, KEEP IN MIND THIS CAR HAS A 6 SPEED STANDARD TRANSMISSION, MEANING SHE HAD ONE FOOT ON THROTTLE AND ONE FOOT ON CLUTCH WHEN THIS HAPPENED UNLIKE AUTOMATIC WHERE YOU COULD HAVE HIT GAS INSTEAD OF BRAKE, MY WIFE HAS NEVER HAD AN ACCIDENT OR A SPEEDING TICKET, I BELIEVE SOMETHING HAPPENED, WITH ALL THIS BEING SAID 17 DAYS LATER SHE IS IN ICU WITH 2 BROKEN BONES IN HER BACK AND A PIECE OF BROKEN BONE LODGED NEXT TO HER SPINE, THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED NEXT TIME IT COULD BE A HOLE FAMILY. THE CAR HAS BEEN CONSIDERED TOTAL LOSS, BUT I HAVE NOT RELEASED THE CAR TO INSURANCE COMPANY AT THIS TIME. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER'S REMEDY SUGGESTION WAS INEFFICIENT AND HE DID NOT AGREE WITH THE RECOMMENDED ADJUSTING OF THE DRIVER SEAT OR THE ADDITION OF A HEAVY KEY FOB. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE WEIGHT OF THE KEY FOB PLACED ON THE RIGHT KNEE MIGHT CAUSE MEDICAL CONCERNS. THE CONTACT COMMUNICATED TO THE DEALER THE CONCERN OF THE RECALL REMEDY SUGGESTION. I PARKED MY CAR AROUND 815PM SUNDAY NIGHT 8/24/14.. AROUND 10 PM I WENT BACK TO MY CAR AND GOT MY PAPERS OUT THE TRUNK. AROUND 1 AM MY NEIGHBOR CAME TO MY DOOR TO LET ME KNOW MY CAR WAS ON FIRE .. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 CHEVROLET CAMARO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH, THE VEHICLE EXHIBITED A REDUCTION IN ENGINE POWER AND STALLED. THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESTART. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE SIX-ROD BEARING HAD SPUN WHICH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. ADDITIONALLY, THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT ALL FOUR OXYGEN SENSORS FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 9,800 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 10,200.
I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO CLASSIC CHEVROLET GRAPEVINE DEALERSHIP AFTER NOTICING WHILE I CHANGED MY BRAKES THE WEEK BEFORE, THERE WAS AXLE GREASE SCATTERED ALL OVER THE REAR OF MY RIM, HUB, AXLES, AND BRAKE COMPONENTS. AFTER INSPECTION, IT WAS DETERMINED THE CV BOOT HAD LET GO ON THE INSIDE SEAL NEAR THE HUB WHERE THE WHEEL MOUNTS. MY CAR IS TWO YEARS OLD AND ONLY HAS 42600 MILES. I HAVE ALSO HEARD FROM SEVERAL OTHER CAMARO OWNERS ON FORUMS AND IN PERSON DISCUSSIONS. FAILURE OF THE AXLE BECAUSE OF IMPROPER LUBRICATION TO THE AXLE CONNECTION CAN CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH SHOULD THE AXLE FAIL WHILE DRIVING. CAN YOU PLEASE INVESTIGATE THIS ISSUE AND DETERMINE IF A RECALL SHOULD BE ISSUED. THANK YOU! *TR
WHILE DRIVING MY VEHICLE DOWN A STRAIGHT ROAD, THE AIR BAG CURTAINS ON BOTH SIDES OF THE VEHICLE SPONTANEOUSLY DEPLOYED. I WAS NOT IN A CAR ACCIDENT, I WAS NOT TURNING ANY CORNERS, I DID NOT HIT A BUMP, NOTHING. I WAS ONLY DRIVING DOWN A STRAIGHT ROAD. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE PLACE OF PURCHASE (JOHN L SULLIVAN IN ROSEVILLE, CA) BECAUSE IT IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. WHEN THE SERVICE TECH CALLS ME BACK, THEY ADVISE THAT THEY ARE GETTING CODES FROM THE BLACK BOX THAT THE CAR HAS BEEN TAMPERED WITH AND/OR HAS HAD THIRD PARTY PARTS INSTALLED. THIS IS A BUNCH OF CRAP BECAUSE I DID NOT HAVE ANYTHING INSTALLED OTHER THAN THE LOJACK THAT THEY INSTALLED FOR ME AND THE REPLACEMENT OF A PART (I'M NOT SURE WHAT IT WAS) THAT WAS CAUSING MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO COME ON EVEN THOUGH I ONLY HAD THE CAR FOR 3 WEEKS, WHICH ONCE AGAIN THEY ALSO INSTALLED. WHEN I TOOK THE CAR TO THEM ON 4/18/14 FOR AN OIL CHANGE, I LET THE SERVICE TECH KNOW THAT MY SERVICE AIRBAG LIGHT WAS ON AND HE ADVISED THAT I WILL NEED TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TO COME BACK ANOTHER DAY BECAUSE IT TAKES 2-3 HOURS JUST FOR THEM TO DIAGNOSE THE CAUSE BUT THAT ITS PROBABLY JUST A BAD SENSOR (BASICALLY BLOWING IT OFF LIKE IT WAS NO BIG DEAL). SO I SAID OK AND KEPT DRIVING IT WITH THE SERVICE AIRBAG LIGHT ON BECAUSE HE MADE IT SEEM LIKE IT WAS NO BIG DEAL. I ALSO DO NOT LIVE NEAR THE DEALERSHIP AND USE THIS CAR TO GET TO AND FROM WORK EVERYDAY SO I WAS ALSO WAITING FOR A CONVENIENT TIME FOR ME TO BE ABLE TO TAKE AND LEAVE THE CAR WITH THEM FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME. I AM NOW BEING TOLD THAT I NEED TO GO THROUGH MY INSURANCE TO GET THE REPAIRS PAID FOR. THIS IS WRONG! JOHN L SULLIVAN AND/OR GM IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS AND NEED TO COVER THE REPAIRS UNDER MY WARRANTY OR THEY NEED TO GIVE ME A NEW CAR. MY AC BLEND DOOR BROKE OFF CAUSING MY DRIVER SIDE TO BLOW COOL AIR AND MY PASSENGER TO BLOW COLD AIR. ALSO MY OEM RADIO SHUTS OFF RANDOMLY AND SOMETIMES CAUSES MY TURN BLINKERS TO NO WORK. THE DEALER CAN NOT EXPLAIN WHY THIS HAS HAPPENED.

AFTER INSPECTING THE VEHICLE HE NOTICED THAT THE POWER STEERING FLUID WAS LOW. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE RACK AND PINION WAS LEAKING. AS A RESULT, THE RACK AND PINION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 51,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 54,779.
AS I WAS DRIVING ON INTERSTATE 85 MY CAR SUDDENLY LOSS POWER IT DID NOT CUT OFF COMPLETELY BUT IT FELT LIKE THE CAR WAS SHUTTING DOWN. IT SLOWED DOWN TO ABOUT 40 MPH AND IT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE ANY FASTER. LUCKILY I WAS CLOSE TO WORK AND TOOK THE STREET ROUTE AND MADE IT TO WORK. THE ENGINE LIGHT DID COME ON AND IT SAID IT WAS LOW ENGINE POWER. THIS WAS THE SECOND TIME IT HAPPENED WITHIN 3 MONTHS. WHILE THE VEHICLE IS BEING DRIVEN, AND DURING GRADUAL ACCELERATION, THE VEHICLE HESITATES AND BEGINS TO SHUDDER WHEN IT ATTEMPTS TO SHIFT INTO THE NEXT GEAR. THIS SHUDDER OCCURS AT MULTIPLE SPEEDS, USUALLY AROUND 31MPH, 42MPH AND 53MPH. THE SHUDDERING ONLY SEEMS TO OCCUR DURING GRADUAL INCREASES IN SPEED, AND IS NOT NOTICED WHEN ACCELERATING AT A MORE RAPID PACE, SUCH AS WHEN ENTERING ONTO A HIGHWAY ON-RAMP. THE SHUDDERING FLUCTUATES BETWEEN MILD TO SEVERE AND IS ALSO NOTICED SOMEWHAT WHEN THE VEHICLE IS DOWNSHIFTING TO A LOWER GEAR AS WELL. IF THE OPERATOR TEMPORARILY CEASES IN THE ACCELERATION, AND THEN RE-ENGAGES THE ACCELERATION, THE VEHICLE SEEMS TO RESPOND. THIS PROBLEM APPEARS TO BE GETTING MORE FREQUENT OVER THE PAST TWO WEEKS, AND THE PROBLEM SEEMED TO INCREASE DURING A RECENT LONGER 3 HOURS TRIP.
