Key after turning car off doesn’t go all the way back to the unlock position to be released. Vehicle has to be re started and shut off to get the key to come out
The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Camaro. The contact was unable to remove the key fob from the ignition. The contact manually moved the clutch to be able to remove the key fob. The contact stated that several attempts were needed to remove the key fob from the ignition. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and the failure was confirmed. The contact received a new key fob. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
BLEND DOOR IS BROKEN AND WHEN DOING RESEARCH, I FOUND THIS ISSUE IS COMMON WITH 2010-2015 CHEVROLET CAMAROS. MY CAR ONLY HAD 57,000 MILES ON IT WHEN THIS OCCURED.
Vehicle was parked in driveway at home on slight incline (<3% grade). Parking brake failed but vehicle is a manual and was in 1st gear so it didn't move noticeably. Discovered when pushed in clutch to start vehicle and had to slam hard on brake to stop vehicle moving backwards down incline. Took vehicle to local dealership and paid for inspection. Linkage to parking brake below center console had broken free at joint (lead solder ball popped off cable). No new parts are available to repair, limited availability for used parts (have yet to find one). Dealer service advisor made comment that it happens a lot so parts are difficult to find now.
The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Camaro. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the turn signals and the defroster were inoperable. Upon investigating the failure, the contact discovered that the failures had occurred because the grounding wire was not thick enough to support the electrical functions. The contact also discovered that other mechanics had added an additional ground wire to correct the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. A case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 122,000.
My 2014 Camaro SS, has about 35k miles on it now, and only drive during the summer. I was looking for a parking spot at work, went to turn right, and the steering wheel totally locked up on me, would not turn left or right from a straight position, ended up slamming on the brakes for i wouldn't run into the embankment in front of me. Put the car in Park, kept playing with the steering wheel, and it finally came free and turned right, after trying to go from left to right a couple of times. So put it back in drive and it performed normally the rest of the day. Sometimes when parking the car, the key will not go fully into the lock position, without starting and shutting the car down a few times, and wiggling the steering wheel in the center position. I See there is a steering related recall on this vehicle but thinking that isn't the problem, but will check it out just in case. But as you can see this could be a very dangerous situation when driving down the highway at 70 MPH. This car was also one that had the key upgrade to it for the issue with the ignition switch, but thinking that isn't an issue. I also used to work for GM in Powertrain, and the switch/sensor area for a while where the one gentleman was fired from, and now retired from GM. So am very familiar with vehicles and thinking it may be the locking mechanism in the steering wheel that is having issues, or the PCM is having glitches? Any help you can provide would be most appreciated.
The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Camaro. The contact stated that after a visual inspection of the exterior of the vehicle, he observed that the air bag safety information sticker peeling away from the driver’s and passenger’s side windows. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was unknown.
About 80% of the time I stop, I put the car into 'park" and attempt to remove the key, it is stuck. The solenoid in the steering column will not release the key although it is in position 2. My wife just left the key stuck and it drained the battery, stranding her. I have not taken the car to the dealer but research online has shown that this is a widespread problem among Camaros and other Chevrolet vehicles between 2010-2015. Users report the Chevy is refusing to declare a recall and dealers are charging $700 to replace the gear shifter which houses the switch that activates the solenoid in the steering column.
The seatbelt rubs my neck no matter how adjust the seat. In 2015 I was in car accident and had a severe neck injury. I had Thoracic Outlet surgery. Recently on 8-24-23 I was in a fender bender . I injured my neck again, a disk bulge is pressing against my spinal cord. Both accidents the seatbelt pressed against my neck. I was wondering if it was a factory defect.
The blender door is junk. It falls apart, so no air conditioning or worse, no heat. I got stuck in a traffic jam in freezing temps and despite blankets, I may lose a piece of my ear lobe. Flash forward, not a single local repair shop will fix this. They say it's a recall issue...or one that should be. Sadly, the dealerships want $4k - $6k to fix it. Something that just is not in my budget with this economy. Chevrolet might want to fix this before someone loses more than an ear lobe. I will be suing if my doctor has to remove a portion of my ear. They were concerned over a stupid sticker on a visor, but not people freezing to death or dying of heat stroke. Do better Chevrolet. Do beter NHTSA - I filed a complaint about my Ford going into limp mode on a highway without warning over ten years ago and the only response from anyone was crickets.
The key gets stuck in the accessory position rendering the car unable to be shut off, you have to keep shifting and putting it back into park while engaging the lever very hard several times to allow the button to release the key . Doing research online, as it was getting progressively worse, I have found that many Chevy owners experience this same problem. I found videos and threads that owners discovered it is the shifter assembly not the ignition. My car is currently at the dealership while they replace the assembly, confirming it is damaged. This will cost me about 1000 dollars to fix after tax. I have 8100 miles on my car, and it's in excellent condition. I can show the invoice when It is finished being repaired
The driver may accidentally bump the ignition key with their knee, moving the ignition
When I drive my knee turns the key, causing a the car to turn off. This is a safety issue that is concerning I am a mom. Every time my knee hits the part key while the car is on it turns the car off. The heater is an issue I have air but no heat. In order for me to fix the heater I told they would have to remove the entire window, but I would have to sign a waiver, because the window could break. Then they would have to remove the dash and another part in order to fix the heat in the car. This is in my opinion a safety issue I don’t understand how the heater could be fixed without causing the window in the car to possibly break. I was told the chances of the window not breaking in order to fix the heater in the car is nearly impossible. Which means I would have to buy a window and pay for labor in order to fix the heat in the car. 1. I have an ignition issue my knee is turning off the car when I drive. 2. Fixing the heat in the car is nearly impossible. 3. Please help check for recalls
My car radio and dash panels or not work. Also the aduio warning fails to sound when i leave keys in car and when i have seat belt off. They have recall the 2016 cars for this same problem that the 2014 has and have not issued a recall for the other years.
The radio makes a loud pop & makes me jump as it goes on & off whenever it wants to. As this happens, the dash light turns off, the heater/ac turns off, the signal lights stop flashing, & when the turn signal is activated it makes a loud static noise that flashes through the speakers. It is a safety issue because it's distracting & it's dangerous for signal lights not to work properly. The car only had 60,000 miles when this began. I've been told there are computer chips, ECM modules, a new stereo with On Star navigation & I honestly can't remember all that was tested wrong with the electrical system that is estimated at $1000 to repair. I have seen numerous complaints of the same issue on the web. I sincerely believe it is a problem Chevrolet is aware of & a recall should be made before an accident is caused.

My 2014 Chevrolet the radio /air conditioning and a/c controls, overhead lightning and now the blinkers are popping cracking lighting up my electronics in the center console and it is very scary. The a/c clicks on and off my turn signals are effected and now I am having to get a jump to start my car and I have a 1 year new battery. I am afraid with this going on and it is a known problem for this car.

The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The dealer was contacted and informed the contact that the part was not yet available. The manufacturer was contacted. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.
Service Air Bag light came on only have 55000 miles on the vehicle. Rarely driven.
The radio will pop and all power goes out to the radio the heater and air conditioner. Will come back on after 5-10 seconds the pops again and it repeats. Even if the radio is off and not moving. I have a video of this.
MY CAR DON'T WANT TO PULL WHEN TAKING OFF . GEAR SHIFT NOT CHANGING . THE RADIO GOES ON AND OFF MAKING HORRIBLE NOISE LIKE THE CAR FINA BLOW UP. THERE ARE NOISES COMING FROM MY TRUNK OR BACK TIRES SOUNDS LIKE MY CAR TEARING UP
THE AUDIO SOUNDS ARE NOT WORKING INCLUDING NO BLINKER SOUNDS. NO RADIO SOUND. NO RADIO WORKING IN AND OUT AND SCREECHING SOUND WHILE DRIVING DISTRACTING DRIVER , NO SEAT BELT SOUND WARNING , NO KEY LEFT IN IGNITION SOUND WARNING , ALL SAFETY ISSUES AND THERE ARE THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME THING AND YOU GUYS KEEP IGNORING IT. YOU NEED TO DO A RECALL ! SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET KILLED IF IT HASN'T ALREADY HAPPENED. ! ESPECIALLY THE SEAT BELT WARNING AND RADIO SCARING PEOPLE GOING ON AND OFF. !
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 CHEVROLET CAMARO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE RADIO TURNED ON AND OFF INTERMITTENTLY. IN ADDITION, ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, THE RADIO FAILED TO OPERATE AND THE VEHICLE NEEDED TO BE RESTARTED FOR THE RADIO TO FUNCTION PROPERLY. A DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
FOR OVER A YEAR THE RADIO IN THE CHEVY CAMARO HAS BEEN MALFUNCTIONING (SHUTTING ON AND OFF EXCESSIVELY), THIS ELECTRICAL ISSUE AFFECTS MY VISION WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT IT HAS CURRENTLY ESCALATED TO PREVENTING TURN SIGNAL AUDIO THEREFORE I CONTINUOUSLY HAVE TO CHECK TO SEE IF TURN SIGNALS ARE WORKING AND WILL NOT KNOW IF THEY STOP WORKING. THIS IS NOT A STAND ALONE PROBLEM WITH JUST MY CAMARO AND I HAVE REVIEWED MANY OWNERS OF CAMAROS HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. THIS ISSUE OCCURS WHEN IN MOTION. AIR CONDITIONING AND HEATER IS EFFECTED AT TIMES ALSO.
HELLO IM REACHING OUT DUE TO A SAFETY CONCERN WITH MY 2014 CAMARO. THE VIN IN LOCATED IN THE SUBJECT LINE ABOVE. I REACHED OUT TO GM LETTING THEM KNOW THAT I WAS HAVING ISSUES WITH MY STEREO. THE SPEAKERS ARE ALSO AFFECTED WHEN THE PROBLEM PERSISTS.. THE CAR WILL TURN ON AND I WILL BE ABLE TO PLAY ANYTHING THROUGH THE STEREO, LIKE THE RADIO, A CD, AN AUX CORD AND EVEN SIRIUS XM BUT RANDOMLY THE STEREO HAS A LOUD NOISE THAT SCREETCHES THROUGH THE SPEAKERS WHICH CAUSE A GREAT AMOUNT OF DISCOMFORT. THEN THE STEREO RESETS AND IS ONLY ABLE TO BE USED VIA AUX AT A LOWER VOLUME AMD EVEN WAY DIFFERENT SOUND QUALITY. ITS VERY STRANGE AND REALLY INCONVIENENT WHILE DRIVING, A FEW TIMES IT SCARED ME SO ABRUPTLY THAT I ALMOST WRECKED DUE TO AN ANXIETY ATTACK. ITS A WELL KNOW ISSUE WITH THIS MODEL FROM YEARS 2011-2015 IF YOU GOOGLE "CAMARO STEREO PROBLEMS" YOU WILL SEE A FEW DIFFERENT WEB FORUMS COMPARING ISSIES WITH THIS PARTICULAR ONE BEING BROUGHT UO MORE THAN ANYTHING ELSE. GM INFORMED ME THAT THE ONLY WAY OF GETTING TO THE BOTTOM OF THE PROBLEM IS TO TAKE IT IN TO GET A DIAGNOSTICS DONE WHICH IS OUT OF MY PRICE RANGE AT THE MOMENT DUE TO COVID. BUT ANYWAYS ALL THAT SHOULD BE PUT TO THE SIDE WHEN IT COMES DOWN TO BEING A SAFETY CONCERN. THANKS IN ADVANCE. I KNOW ALOT OF PPL WOULD LOVE TO ENJOY A NORMAL DRIVE WITHOUT BEING STARTLED BY A LOUD GUITAR AMP POPPING NOISE. I MISS GOOD DRIVES WHILE LISTENING TO MUSIC WITH GOOD QUALITY.
I TOTALED OUT MY CAR I FLIPPED 8 TIMES LANDED ON ALL FOUR OF MY TIRES. MY AIRBAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY.. NONE OF THEM
ON COLD MORNING START, THE CLIMATE CONTROL, RADIO, RADIO LIGHTS, BLINKER TICKING AUDIO, DRIVER INFORMATION DISPLAY, STEERING WHEEL HANDS FREE PHONE CONTROL (SPEEDOMETER, TPS READINGS, TRIP INFO, ETC..) DOES NOT POWER ON. DRIVER CANNOT DEFROST THE WINDOW. THEN... AFTER CAR IS DRIVEN 10-15 MILES THEY POWER ON. (CAR WARMS UP SOME) INTERNET SEARCH REVEALS MANY OTHERS WITH SIMILAR PROBLEM. SOME SAY CLIP A WHITE WIRE BEHIND RADIO, REAL FIX IS REPLACE BCM. AND DEALER ONLY PROGRAM, THE VEHICLE SPECIFIC BCM (BODY CONTROL MODULE) IT MAY SOUND EASY TO JUST SAY... DONT DRIVE THE CAR, BUT IF YOU HAVE NO OTHER MEANS.... WHO IS GOING TO DO THAT? I AM A ASE CERTIFIED TECH, THOUGH EXPIRED 2002. NOT WRENCHING ANYMORE BUT I KNOW A LITTLE BIT. . CAN NOT REMOVE KEY FROM IGNITION WHEN SHUTTING OFF. HAVE TO START VEHICLE MULTIPLE TIMES AND MOVE GEAR SELECTOR MULTIPLE TIMES BEFORE I GET THE KEY OUT. CAR IS IN PARK. UNSAFE TO LEAVE VEHICLE UNLOCKED WITH KEY IN IGNITION BECAUSE IT WILL NOT COME OUT
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 CHEVROLET CAMARO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HOME SCREEN WOULD CONSTANTLY FLICKER WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. DUE TO THE FAILURE, THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO VIEW ANY SAFETY ALERTS OR HEAR THE TURN SIGNALS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. OUR 2014 CHEVY CAMARO SS POWER STEERING WOULD LOCK UP ON US WHEN WE WERE DRIVING AND WOULD JERK AND WE WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO STEER THE CAR AND IT WAS VERY SCARY ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU WERE GOING THE SPEED LIMIT ON THE INTERSTATE GOING 65-70 MPH. MY HUSBAND WAS COMING HOME FROM COURT ON 9/8/20 AND IT WAS ALSO OUR 10 YEAR ANNIVERSARY AND IT LOCKED UP ON HIM AND THE NEXT THING HE KNEW HE WAS HIT BY A LADY AND HE WAS ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND OUR CAR WAS TOTALED AND HE DONT EVEN HAVE ANY RECOLITION OF WHAT HAPPENED THE IMPACT OF THE LADY HITTING HIM KNOCKED HIM OUT AND HE IS LUCKY TO BE ALIVE HE SUFFERED A BROKE ARM AND HAD TO HAVE SURGERY TO HAVE A PLATE AND SCREWS PUT IN TO REPAIR IT AND WE DONT HAVE A VEHICLE NOW. WE HAD JUST PURCHASED THE CAR THE END OF MAY 2020. WE SEEN A RECALL ON THE STEERING LOCKING UP AND THE CHEVY DEALER SAID THEY COULDN'T REPLACE IT BECAUSE THE VIN NUMBER WASN'T ON RECALL. HOW CAN A VEHICLE THAT IS DOING THE SAME EXACT THING AS THE SAME EXACT VEHICLE WITH A DIFFERENT LETTER IN THE VIN NOT BE ON RECALL FOR THE SAME EXACT DEFECT? MY HUSBAND IS LUCKY TO BE ALIVE AND NOW WE ARE LEFT WITH NO VEHICLE. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME HOW THIS IS POSSIBLE ID LIKE TO HAVE MY VEHICLE REPLACED DUE TO THIS RECALL THAT WAS DEFECTIVE IN MY VEHICLE. WE HAVE A FRIEND WHO HAD THE SAME ISSUE AND THEY TOLD HIM THE SAME THING ABOUT HIS VIN SO HE TRADED HIS CAMARO IN FOR A DIFFERENT VEHICLE. I WOULD LOVE TO HAVE MY CAR REPLACED OR REPAIRED BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE/RECALL. IM UPLOADING A PICTURE OF WHAT MY CAMARO LOOKS LIKE NOW.
THE KEY GETS STUCK IN THE IGNITION AND CANNOT BE REMOVED UNTIL I'VE TRIED ENOUGH TIMES THAT IT MIGHT ACTUALLY WORK. THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME I DRIVE THE CAR. I'VE SEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS STATING THE SAME EXACT THING AND I AM WONDERING WHY THIS HASN'T BEEN ELEVATED TO RECALL STATUS.
KEY CONSTANTLY GETS LOCKED UP IN IGNITION AFTER I PUT IN PARK. I TURN IT ON AND OFF TO KEY KEY OUT. LAST TIME I STARTED ABOUT THREE TIMES TURNED KEY OFF TRIED TAKING OUT. CALLED REPAIR SHOP SAID PUSH SHIFT ALL WAY IN PARK. FINALLY CAME OUT. LOTS OF COMPLAINTS REGARDING THIS BUT DIDN'T SEE RECALL
THE RADIO SCREEN WORKS FINE, SO DOES THE BLUETOOTH, VOLUME KNOB, HOWEVER, THE CAR HAS LOST COMPLETE SOUND CAPACITY. NO MUSIC, NO CHIME START, NO TURN SIGNAL SOUND, NO REAR PARKING SENSORS WARNING SOUNDS. ANYTHING
WHEN I TURN THE VEHICLE OFF, THE KEY WILL NOT ROTATE TO THE LOCK POSITION, AND CAR ONLY HAS 24,000 MILES ON IT. AFTER MOVING THE GEAR SELECTOR MANY TIMES FROM DRIVE TO PARK THE KEY FINALLY ROTATES TO THE LOCKED POSITION TO ALLOW REMOVAL OF THE KEY. DURING THIS SUMMER THE ISSUE HAS BEEN GETTING WORSE AND WORSE, TO THE POINT I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE ANYWHERE. I HAVE ALSO NOTICED WHEN YOU ENTER THE VEHICLE AND JUST ROTATE THE KEY TO RUN POSITION, IT WILL LOCK UP AS WELL, NOT ALLOWING THE KEY TO ROTATE BACK INTO THE LOCK POSITION. THEN HAVE TO CYCLE THE SHIFTER FOR THE TRANNY FROM PARK TO DRIVE MULTIPLE TIMES TO GET IT TO ROTATE IN TO THE LOCK POSITINO FOR I CAN REMOVE THE KEY..
KEY GETS LOCKED IN THE IGNITION AFTER CAR IS PUT INTO PARK AND EVEN AFTER CAR HAS BEEN TURNED OFF. FOR A WHILE THE STEREO WILL TURN OFF AND ON. LIGHTS STAY FLICKERING FROM TIME TO TIME.
STEERING WHEEL IS LOCKED UP FEELS LIKE THE POWER STEERING HAS WENT OUT AND VERY HARD TO STEER. *TR
WHEN IN PARK THE KEY GETS STUCK IN THE IGNITION. *TR
SEVERAL ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS FAIL WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. THE TURN SIGNALS STOP WORKING, THE RADIO SHUTS OFF, THE HEADS UP DISPLAY TURNS OFF, THE SPEEDOMETER TURNS OFF AND THE TACHOMETER STOPS WORKING. THE CAR STILL RUNS AND RESPONDS TO THE GAS AND BRAKE PEDALS AND THE STEERING CONTINUES TO WORK. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND VERY CONFUSING AND SCARY WHILE DRIVING THE CAR. THE RADIO STOPS AND THEN TURNS BACK ON. AFTER LOOKING THIS UP ON LINE, THIS APPEARS TO BE A WIDE SPREAD ISSUE THAT GM NEEDS TO ADDRESS AND RECALL THE COMPONENTS CAUSING THE ISSUE.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, MY CAR'S ELECTRONICS SHUT OFF. THE SPEEDOMETER, TACHOMETER, TURN SIGNALS, HUD UNIT, AND RADIO STOPPED WORKING BUT THE CAR WAS STILL RUNNING AND COULD BE DRIVEN NORMALLY (RESPONDED TO GAS, STEERING WAS FINE ETC). I COULD NOT PUT THE REAR PASSENGER WINDOW UP BUT ALL OF THE OTHER WINDOWS OPENED AND CLOSED. THE CONVERTIBLE TOP WOULD NOT WORK. AFTER PARKING AND RESTARTING A FEW TIMES THE PROBLEM WENT AWAY BUT EVENTUALLY CAME BACK AND HAPPENS ALL THE TIME. I HAVE MADE AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALERSHIP TO CHECK THIS OUT. THE FOLLOWING WARNINGS DISPLAY ON THE DISPLAY: SERVICE THEFT DETERRENT SYSTEM SERVICE AIRBAG SERVICE PARKING ASSISTANT SERVICE TIRE MONITOR SYSTEM OPEN, THEN CLOSE PASSENGER WINDOW *TR
BLEND DOOR BROKEN
TURN SIGNAL STOP WORKING, ALONG WITH RADIO SHUTTING OFF AND ON ERRATICALLY , LOUD POPPING NOISES OVER SPEAKER WHEN USING TURN SIGNALS , RADIO CONES ON AND OFF WHEN APPLYING BRAKES
RADIO SYSTEM BLINKS OUT AND CAUSES VEHICLE TO LOSE POWER. VEHICLE IS IMMOBILE AT THIS POINT.
THE RADIO MAKES VERY LOUD POPPING NOISE AND ALL POWER CUTS OUT TO THE DISPLAY, TURN SIGNALS, HEATING/COOLING FUNCTIONS. THIS HAPPENS REPEATEDLY EVERY TIME DRIVING THE VEHICLE. THE TRIGGERS ARE USING THE POWER WINDOWS, USING TURN SIGNAL, ADJUSTING HEAT/AC, OR PUTTING THE VEHICLE INTO REVERSE. NOT ONLY IS IT INCONVENIENT TO NOT HAVE RADIO OR HEAT/AC. IT IS ALSO A SAFETY HAZARD TO NOT HAVE TURN SIGNALS AND HAVE VERY LOUD AND DISTRACTING POPPING NOISES WHILE DRIVING. I HAVE HEARD FROM OTHER CAMARO OWNERS AND EVERY ONE OF THIS MODEL HAS THE SAME ISSUE AROUND 40,000 MILES.
SIGNAL LIGHTS, SAFETY HAZARD LIGHTS AND THE RADIO STOPPED WORKING.
