I HAVE BEEN SMELLING FUEL VAPOR ORDER IN MY CAR FOR A WHILE AND HAD RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER FOR IT. SO I TOOK IT IN TO TOM GILL CHEVROLET AND THEY HAD REPLACED MY FUEL PUMP FOR FREE. AT THE SAME TIME I HAD THE ENGINE LIGHT COME ON AND IT READ "P0442 EVAP SYSTEM SMALL LEAK DETECTED" FIGURED THE FUEL PUMP WAS RELATED. AFTER THEY HAVE REPLACED IT, I STILL HAD THE ENGINE LIGHT ON AND IT CAME TO BE THE SAME PROBLEM. AT THE SAME TIME, I BEEN HAVING PERFORMANCE ISSUES AND EVERY TIME I PARKED THE CAR I STILL SMELL GAS AS I GET OUT OF THE CAR. I GOT MY BRAKES REPLACED AND WHILE THEY WERE UP THERE I CHECKED THE GAS TANK AND FOUND OUT THAT THE GAS TANK IS LEAKING WHERE THE FILLER HOSE WAS CONNECTED TO. I HAVE NEVER HAD ANYONE OR MYSELF MESSED WITH THE GAS TANK SINCE I BOUGHT IT NEW OFF THE LOT IN 2007 TILL TOM GILL CHEVROLET IN FLORENCE, KY HAD RECENTLY DID WORK ON IT. SO I TOOK IT BACK TO THEM THE NEXT DAY I FOUND OUT ABOUT THE GAS TANK AND HAD THEM TAKE A LOOK AT IT, AND THEY HAVE TOLD ME THAT THE GAS TANK IS CRACKED AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. PRICED IT TO BE $1000. I HAVE EXPLAINED TO THEM WHY THEY DID NOT DETECT THIS BEFORE AND THEY HAD TOLD ME THAT THE LEAK WAS FROM THE TOP OF THE TANK AND THERE WAS NO WAY OF TELLING THAT THE LEAK CAME FROM WHERE THE FILLER HOSE WAS CONNECTED TO. THE THING IS AFTER LOOKING UNDER MY CAR AT THE DEALERSHIP AND THOUGHT ABOUT IT FOR A MINUTE, AND I KNOW JUST BY LOOKING THAT YOU CAN DISTINGUISH FROM THE TOP OF THE TANK AND THE SIDE OF THE TANK WHERE THE LEAK WAS COMING FROM. I COME FROM A FAMILY OF MECHANICS AND KNOW WELL ENOUGH THAT THEY WERE BLOWING SMOKE AT ME AND COVERING UP THEIR ISSUES. I HAVE ALSO INVESTIGATED THIS ISSUE ON THE INTERNET AND HAVE FOUND THAT OTHER PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEMS WITH THIS VEHICLE AS I HAVE AND ALSO BEEN THROUGH THE DEALERSHIP AND GOT THE SAME RING AROUND LIKE I HAVE. *TR
STARTED TO HEAR A KNOCKING AND FOUND OUT MOTOR BURNING OIL NO OIL LIGHT CAME ON SO IN TURN FOUND OUT A PISTON WENT IN MOTOR SO I HAD TO GET NEW MOTOR. *TR
I WOULD BE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND THE CAR'S DIALS WOULD NOT WORK THEN START BOUNCING AROUND. THEN THE POWER STEERING MESSAGE WOULD READ OUT, I WOULD LOOSE POWER STEERING. IF I SLOWED DOWN IT WOULD TAKE MORE OF AN EFFORT TO GET THE CAR UP TO SPEED AND THE CAR WOULD JUMP IN TO GEARS HARD. IT WOULDN'T SHIFT SMOOTH. NONE OF THE GAUGES WOULD WORK, AND IF THE A/C WAS ON IT WOULDN'T WORK. WHEN IT STARTED BACK WORKING, THE ENGINE LOCK LIGHT WOULD STAY ON. AND THE CAR WOULDN'T SHIFT IN AND OUT OF GEAR WITH OUT JERKING. *TR
THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR HANDLE DOES NOT WORK FROM THE INSIDE. THIS IS DANGEROUS BECAUSE IT COULD TRAP A DRIVER INSIDE THE VEHICLE. *TR
A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO, I HAD TO REPLACE THE FUEL PUMP AND ANOTHER PART THAT GOES WITH THE FUEL PUMP ON THE CHEVY COBALT. I DID NOT HAVE THE MONEY TO TAKE IT TO A DEALER SO A FRIEND REPLACED THE PARTS FOR ME AT COST. (YES HE GOT THE FUEL PUMP FROM THE DEALER) AFTER RECEIVING A RECALL LETTER ON THESE PARTS I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY WERE GOING TO DO EXACTLY WHAT I HAD ALREADY PAID TO HAVE DONE. I FOUND MY RECEIPT FROM THE MECHANIC AND FILLED OUT THE FORM THAT WAS SENT WITH THE RECALL LETTER AND MAILED THEM IN. INSTEAD OF BEING REIMBURSED FOR HAVING IT ALREADY FIXED I AM BEING TOLD THAT SINCE I DID NOT TAKE IT TO A DEALER I CANNOT BE REIMBURSED. I PERSONALLY DO THINK THIS IS FAIR. I COULD NOT AFFORD 800.00 PLUS DOLLARS THAT THE DEALER OR AUTHORIZED MECHANIC WANTED TO DO THIS WORK. I GUESS I CAN UNDERSTAND RULES ARE RULES, BUT YOU SHOULD ALSO CONSIDER THAT NOT EVERYONE IS ABLE TO AFFORD THE OUTLANDISH PRICES DEALERSHIPS AND CERTAIN MECHANICS ARE CHARGING FOR REPAIRS. *TR
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT AROUND 65 MPH AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CAR JUST KIND OF HAD A MIND OF ITS OWN AND STARTED SPINNING OUT DOING DONUTS ACROSS THREE LANES. I HIT A JEEP AND CRASHED INTO A CONCRETE BARRIER. IT WAS A MIRACLE WE WEREN'T KILLED AND THE CAR IS DEMOLISHED, AND IF IT HADN'T BEEN FOR THE CONCRETE BARRIER ONLY GOD KNOWS WHERE WE WOULD HAVE WENT. THE STEERING JUST SEEMED TO GO OUT OF CONTROL. I BELIEVE THIS IS AN EXTREMELY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS 2007 CHEVROLET COBALT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE INDEPENDENTLY STEERED TO THE LEFT AND CAUSED THE CONTACT TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE THEN SPUN IN A CIRCLE AND CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE, AND THEN INTO THE RETAINING WALL. THERE WERE 3 PEOPLE WITH MINOR INJURIES. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED OF THE INCIDENT. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED TO A SALVAGE YARD. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 10V073000 (STEERING) BUT DID NOT CONFIRM IF THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN THE RECALL CAMPAIGN. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET COBALT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH THE STEERING BECAME DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER. THE FAILURE OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. 4/22/13 APPROX 7:30 AM, APPROACHED RED-LIGHT, GENTLY APPLYING BRAKES. CAR STARTED TO LOSE POWER! DASHBOARD LIGHTS DIMMED WHILE I WAS SLOWING DOWN. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR OVER A YR. AS SOON AS LIGHT TURNED GREEN,CAR FELT LIKE IT WAS LOSING POWER AND WAS GOING TO STALL OUT! (LIKE IF YOU WERE TO RUN OUT OF GAS. STEPPED ON THE GAS, AS SOON AS I SAW THE LIGHT TURN GREEN, TO TRY TO PREVENT THE STALL OUT, AND ABOUT 1/4 INTO INTERSECTION, ANOTHER CAR WAS RUNNING A CAUTION LIGHT, WHICH TURNED TO RED... MY CAR REGAINED POWER WITH A THRUST OF THE ENGINE, WHICH TOOK ME INTO THE PATH OF THE OTHER VEHICLE WHO HIT ME AT ABOUT 35 MPH, WHICH CAUSED US TO SPIN COMPLETELY AROUND IN THE MIDDLE OF INTERSECTION. AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE POLICE REPORT STATED I FAILED TO YIELD THE RIGHT OF WAY. IN PART THAT IS TRUE, AS I FELT I HAD TO APPLY THE GAS TO THE CAR TO KEEP IT FROM "STALLING! HEAVY DAMAGE TO DRIVER'S SIDE, FRONT END, HOOD, BUMPER AND SUPPORT BEAM BY ENGINE. THERE ARE MANY RECALLS ON THIS CAR. 5/9/2012, FUEL ODOR OR SPOTTING ON GROUND; 9/16/10-LOSS OF POWER STEERING ASSIST; 3/1/2010-RECALL 10V073000 POWER STEERING MOTOR REPLACEMENT; 1022/2009-FUEL PUMP MODULE REPLACEMENT. IN THE PASS THREE YRS I ADVISED EAST SYRACUSE CHEVY DEALER THAT MY DASHBOARD LIGHTS,LIGHTED AREAS RADIO, ETC; GO IN AND OUT LIKE THE CAR HAS AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM, DOOR LEFT-OPEN, LIGHTS, LOW-FUEL, SINGLE LIGHTS CHIMES ALL DON'T WORK. DEALER ADVISED ME THERE IS A SHORT IN THE DASH SOMEWHERE CAUSING ALL THESE PROBLEMS,RADIO SPEAKERS ARE ALL CONNECTED I WOULD HAVE TO PAY TO REPAIR WHICH WAS OVER $2,000. REMOTES DON'T WORK. I HAVE HAD MANY FRONT END PROBLEMS WITH THIS VEHICLE, I.E. SWAY BAR, STEERING COLUMN BUSHINGS; STRUTS;STEERING COMPONENTS, LINKAGE/CV DRIVE AXLE BOOTS, CONTROL ARMS; REPAIRS;11/30/11, 2/16/2011. *TR
STARTED SMELLING A STRONG ODOR OF GAS INSIDE AND OUT OF MY CAR TO WHERE I WOULD SMELL OF GAS WHEN I DROVE MY CAR, LOOKED ON LINE FOR ANY PROBLEMS CONCERNING THIS ISSUE AND SAW THAT THEIR HAD BEEN A RECALL ON THE FUEL PUMP IN 2012 I BELIEVE IT WAS, ANYWAY I DID NOT RECEIVE A NOTICE FOR CALLED GM EXPLAINED WHAT WAS GOING ON THEY MADE ARRANGEMENTS TO HAVE MY CAR TOWED TO A DEALERSHIP TO BE REPAIRED WHICH IT WAS WELL, A DAY IN A HALF LATER MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON WHICH IT HASN'T IN THE PAST I TRY TO CALL GM NUMEROUS TIMES AND LEAVE MESSAGES NO ONE RETURNS MY CALLS. I TAKE IT BACK TO DEALER THEY PUT IT ON MACHINE COME OUT SAY YOUR TANK IS FILLING UP WITH A VAPOR YOUR GOING TO HAVE TO LEAVE IT WE HAVE TO REMOVE THE TANK. I GET A CALL COUPLE DAYS LATER THEY REPLACED MY RECALLED IGNITION SWITCH BUT MY GAS TANK HAS A CRACK. I GO UP THERE WITH MY SISTER AND AFTER LENGTHY DISCUSSION I WAS TOLD THAT THE CRACK WAS A DEFECT ON THE MANUFACTURER END,IT'S UP TO ME TO GET IT FIXED SO, I POINT BLANK ASKED SHOULDN'T THEY BE RECALLED IF IT'S A DEFECT AND I WAS TOLD YES THEY SHOULD BUT THEY WON'T BECAUSE THEY HAVE TO MUCH GOING ON RIGHT NOW WITH EVERYTHING ELSE. MY OPINION I JUST THINK IT'S JUST SAD THAT SOMEONE HAS TO GET HURT BEFORE ANYONE WILL TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR MISTAKE. *TR
WHEN TURNING LEFT OR RIGHT IT MAKES A CLUNKING NOISE FROM THE STEERING COLUMN. *TR
DRIVING WEST APPROX. 35 MPH LADY PULLED IN FRONT OF ACROSS 4 LANES TRAFFIC HIT BROADSIDE ON HER PASSENGER SIDE. LITTLE DAMAGE TO HER CAR. OVER $6000. DAMAGE TO MY CAR. NO AIR BAG DEPLOYED. DRIVER OF MY CAR HURT WRIST AND HIT KNEES ON DASH. ENDED UP 8 MONTHS LATER HAVING KNEE SURGERY BECAUSE OF TEAR IN KNEE FROM WRECK. PASSENGER HURT WRISTS. *TR
TOOK VEHICHLE TO DEALERSHIP REGARDING FUEL PUMP/RETURN PORT CRACK RECALL WHICH WAS COVERED UNDER RECALL, HOWEVER, WAS TOLD THAT MY FUEL TANK WAS ALSO CRACKED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED ALL TOGETHER. WAS TOLD THIS WAS NOT COVERED OR RELATED TO RECALL AND COST WOULD BE OUT OF MY POCKET (CLOSE TO $700), INCLUDING COST OF THE RENTAL VEHICLE. I WAS TOLD THAT IF I DID NOT REPLACE THE FUEL TANK, FUMES WOULD STILL BE EMITTED AND COULD POTENTIALLY CAUSE A VEHICLE FIRE. I HAVE READ OTHER COMPLAINTS WITH SIMILAR CONDITIONS THAT RESULTED IN HAVING TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE FUEL TANK AS WELL. I FEEL THIS NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED AS A RELATED ISSUE TO THE CURRENT RECALL. I FEEL THE INVESTIGATION SHOULD BE EXTENDED TO INCLUDE HOW THIS RECALL IMPACTS THE ENTIRE FUEL AND EXHAUST SYSTEM. *TR

THE CONTACT RECEIVED NHTSA RECALL CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12V459000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE); HOWEVER, GM STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT BE REPAIRED BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REGISTERED IN THE CORRECT STATE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
I HAVE A 2007 CHEVY COBALT AND I HAVE 89000 MILES ON IT. I HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO REMOVE THE KEY FOR THE LAST 3 MONTHS. I KNOW THERE IS A RECALL ON 2009 CHEVY COBALTS BUT THERE ISN'T ONE FOR 2007 MODELS. I HAVE READ MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM WITH 2007 MODELS AND THE COST IS $425 TO GET IT FIXED. BECAUSE I CANNOT AFFORD THAT AMOUNT, I HAVE TO PRESS A LITTLE BUTTON IN THE STEERING COLUMN. *JB
DRIVING MY 2007 COBALT I NOTICED AFTER TURNING A STREET CORNER THE POWER STEERING STOPS WORKING AND I HAD TO PHYSICALLY PULL BACK THE STEERING WHEEL WITH EFFORT, THIS NOW HAPPENS EVERY TIME I TRY TO STRAIGHTEN OUT AFTER TURNING A CORNER AT SLOW SPEED, I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT WITH A GM DEALER ON APRIL 1, 2013. *TR
WAS DRIVING ON CITY STREET APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH WHEN IT FELT AS IF I WERE DRIVING ON ROCKS. THE T/C LIGHT WENT ON. I STOPPED THE CAR, TURNED THE IGNITION OFF AND LOOKED UNDER THE HOOD. FOUND NOTHING. TURNED ON THE IGNITION ON AGAIN. RETURNED TO ORIGIN I HAD LEFT LESS THAN A BLOCK AWAY FROM INCIDENT AND PARKED AND TURNED OFF THE CAR. IT HAD STOPPED BY NOW. I TURNED ON THE CAR AGAIN AND PROCEEDED TO ATTEMPT MY DRIVE ON SAME ROAD. THE CAR BEGAN TO DO THE SAME THING, THIS TIME IT DID NOT STOP. THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AND THE ENGINE MADE A RATTLING NOISE. I HAD TO CALL A TOW TRUCK TO TAKE IT TO MY MECHANIC. THE CAR WAS DIAGNOSED AS THE THROTTLE BODY WAS THE PROBLEM. I HAD A USED BODY THROTTLE INSTALLED AND ON 03/16/13 I TOOK THE CAR TO A CHEVROLET DEALER, MIAMI LAKES AUTOMALL TO HAVE A NEW THROTTLE BODY INSTALLED. THE DEALER REFUSED TO GIVE ME WARRANTY ON IT. ON WEDNESDAY 07/17/13 THE T/C LIGHT CAME ON AND GOT MESSAGE, SERVICE TRACTION ON THE DISPLAY WINDOW. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE SAME CHEVROLET DEALER WHERE I HAD THE NEW THROTTLE BODY INSTALLED. WHEN I TURNED OFF THE CAR THE LIGHT TURNED OFF. THE CAR WAS CHECKED AND THEY CLAIMED THEY DIDN'T KNOW WHAT WAS WRONG AND COULDN'T HELP ME. *TR
IN MY WORDS AND EXPERIENCE THAT HAPPENED ON THE DAY OF 03/13/2013, APPX 4:30 PM ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK, LIKE ANY OTHER DAY OVER CROWDED TRAFFIC HOUR , STOP AND GO, I STARTED TO EXPERIENCE LOSS OF POWER IN MY VEHICLE. TWICE IT STARTED LOOSING POWER THEN THE VEHICLE VEERED TOWARDS ONCOMING TRAFFIC I STEERED TO THE RIGHT AND VEHICLE WOULD NOT STEER BACK INTO NORMAL POSITION CAUSING ME TO GO OVER A DIRT EMBANKMENT AND OFF A CLIFF, AT THAT POINT I DO NOT THINK THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING, I LITERALLY THOUGHT THIS WAS THE END OF MY LIFE, GOING THROUGH TREES ,HITTING ROCKS. THERE WAS NOTHING I COULD DO BUT TO WAIT TO DIE. THEN THE VEHICLE HIT SOMETHING REAL HARD CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO ROLL OVER AND COME TO A STOP. I JUST REMEMBER WANTING TO GET OUT OF THE CAR AS FAST AS I COULD. I HAD TO CRAWL OUT OF THE PASSENGER SIDE TO GET OUT. I DIDN'T SEE ANYONE I COULDN'T SEE THE ROADWAY I WAS SO FAR DOWN. I HEARD PEOPLE YELLING IF I WAS OK. I THEN REMEMBERED I NEEDED MY PURSE AND MY PHONE TO GET HELP SO I CRAWLED BACK INTO THE CAR I FOUND MY PURSE BUT NO PHONE OR KEYS UNTIL THE VEHICLE WAS RECOVERED BY CHP RECOVERY. AT THE TIME I DIDN'T FEEL I NEEDED MEDICAL ATTENTION, BUT SINCE THE ACCIDENT MY BACK AND MY BALANCE ARE NOT THE SAME AS THEY USE TO. I'VE ALSO BEEN HAVING DIFFICULTIES WITH MY MEMORY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET COBALT LS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER REFUELING, FUEL SEEPED FROM THE FUEL TANK FILLER SEAL. THE CONTACT ADDED THAT IN ORDER TO AVOID THE FAILURE, THE TANK COULD BE FILLED TO NO MORE THAN HALF OF A TANK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE FUEL TANK WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 119,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
PULLING OUT OF PARKING SPACE TURNING FELT STEERING WAS HARD AND NOT STRAIGHTENING OUT, TURNING RIGHT OR LEFT IS VERY STIFF. *TR
GMAC ISSUED RECALL OF 07 COBALTS AS WELL AS OTHER MODEL YEARS REGARDING FUEL PUMP. I HAD THE SAME ISSUE WITH MY VEHICLE, BUT WAS TOLD THAT SINCE IT WASN'T REGISTERED IN THE FEW STATES INVOLVED, I COULD NOT BE REIMBURSED. I BELIEVE THIS RECALL SHOULD BE EXPANDED. MY CAR WAS IN FLORIDA, FOR A WHILE. I HAVE RELATIVES THERE, BUT SINCE IT'S NOT REGISTERED THERE, SUPPOSEDLY MY ISSUE WASN'T THEIR RESPONSIBILITY. *TR
MY FAMILY AND I WERE RIDING IN THE CAR , WHEN SUDDENLY THERE WAS A AWFUL GAS ODOR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHERE I WAS TOLD MY LIFE WAS IN DANGER AND THEY DID NOT WANT ME TO DRIVE THE CAR. THE FUEL PUMP HAD TO BE ORDERED. ON 02/16/2013 WHILE MY CAR WAS PARKED ATTENTION WAS BROUGHT TO A SUBSTANCE LEAKING FROM MY VEHICLE UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION IT WAS DETERMINED TO BE GAS LEAKING OUT OF MY GAS TANK. I TOOK MY CAR TO CHEVY BECAUSE I DISCOVERED THAT OTHER PEOPLE HAD THIS SAME PROBLEM AND THAT THERE HAD BEEN A RECALL. THE DEALERSHIP THEN INFORMED ME THERE HAD BEEN A RECALL BUT NOT FOR MY VIN. *TR
STARTED SMELLING GASOLINE SO I TOOK THE CAR INTO ED BOZART AND THEY SAID THAT MY VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL FOR THE FUEL PUMP AND THAT IT WOULD COST $700 TO REPLACE IT AND THE FILTER. THE DOOR LOCKS ON THE CAR KEEP UNLOCKING AND LOCKING WHILE DRIVING OR STOPPING. IT HAPPENS APPROXIMATELY 50 TIMES EVERY TIME I DRIVE. WE TOOK OUR 2007 CHEVY COBALT INTO OUR CHEVY DEALERSHIP HERE IN ROSEVILLE,CA TO GET OUR RECALLED FUEL SENSOR REPLACED. WE WERE THEN NOTIFIED THAT OUR FUEL TANK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO A CRACK IN IT, AND THAT WE ARE NOW LOOKING AT AN $800+ REPAIR FOR A NEW FUEL TANK. THIS CAR HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT OR ANYTHING, SO I KNOW IT DID NOT CRACK FROM THAT. AFTER DOING A LITTLE BIT OF RESEARCH I HAVE FOUND THAT A NUMBER OF PEOPLE ARE BEING AFFECTED BY A) THE SENSOR FAILURE,OUTSIDE OF "QUALIFIED" STATES, AND ARE NOT BEING ADDRESSED, AND B) A NUMBER ARE GETTING THE SAME CALL FROM DEALERSHIPS ABOUT THEIR WHOLE FUEL TANK NEEDING TO BE REPLACED DUE TO THIS CRACKING. TO ME IT SEEMS THAT CHEVY PROBABLY USED THE SAME MATERIALS ON THE FUEL TANK AS THEY DID THIS SENSOR THAT NEEDS REPLACING DUE TO "HEAT". I CALLED CHEVY AND THEY TOLD ME THERE WERE 2 RECALLS, DURING THE SAME TIME MY GARAGE SMELLED STRONG LIKE GAS. I HAD THE PROBLEM FIXED TWICE. NOW IN DECEMBER 2016 THE CAR IS GOING HAYWIRE AGAIN.POWER STEERING GOES OUT, ALL ELECTRIC COMPONENTS START FLIPPING OUT AND THE ANTI THEFT SYSTEM LIGHT COMES ON ALONG WITH EVERY OTHER LIGHT ON THE DASH. THE RIMS ON THESE 2007 COBALTS BEND EASY WITH THE SIZE OF TIRE THEY ARE SOLD WITH. ANY POT HOLE HIT AT SPEEDS OF 30 - 55 MPH WILL BEND THESE TIRE RIMS. I HAVE REPLACED 2 RIMS AT $ 111.00 A PIECE AND MY BACK RIMS ARE BENT ALSO. WAL-MART, TIEMANS TIRE AND OTHER TIRE STORES ARE AWARE OF THE BAD RIMS ON THESE COBALTS. HAD TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED FROM THE "CERTIFIED CHEVY REPAIR SHOP" TO A DIFFERENT MECHANIC BECAUSE IT NOW WOULD NOT EVEN START, WHICH NEW (HONEST) MECHANIC SAID THERE IS A MAJOR PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL PUMP/FUEL PROPULSION SYSTEM. I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR THE FUEL PUMP WHICH INDICATED THAT THE FUEL PUMP MODULE MAY CRACK AND CAUSE A FUEL LEAK. AS THE TECHNICIAN WAS IN THE PROCESS OF REMOVING THE GAS TANK TO ADDRESS THE FUEL PUMP RECALL ISSUE, HE IDENTIFIED A FUEL LEAK AT THE FILLER NECK ON OR TO THE GAS TANK. IN THE END, I HAD TO REPLACE THE GAS TANK, BUT THE FUEL PUMP RECALL DID NOT COVER THE COST. I AM REPORTING THIS BECAUSE I BELIEVE THIS COULD BE A SAFETY HAZARD DUE TO A FUEL LEAK.
