FIRST OFF 10,000 MILES AFTER MY WARRANTY ENDED THE CLUTCH WENT ON THIS CAR. SINCE THEN I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE CLUTCH 3 MORE TIMES, REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION AND THEN REBUILD THE TRANSMISSION. WHOEVER AT CHEVY DECIDED TO USE ATF IN A MANUAL TRANSMISSION CARE DUE TO THEIR OWN DESIGN FLAW OF A SMALLER WHOLE THEREBY CREATING SYNCHOS WHICH WERE NOT PROPERLY LUBRICATED SHOULD BE SHOT. SO HERE WE ARE AGAIN FOR ANNUAL TRANSMISSION MAINTENANCE..IE: THE CLUTCH WENT OUT AGAIN. THIS TIME WE CHANGED IT AND SINCE ALL THE FRAME BOLTS WERE STRIPPED OUT FROM THE "LICENSED MECHANIC" WHO DID IT THE LAST 3 TIMES, WE HAD TO TAKE IT OUT THE TOP. NEXT CAME THE NEW STARTER THAT HAD TO BE PUT IN AND NOW IT IS ALL BACK TOGETHER, ALL FUSES CHECKED OUT OK, THE BATTERY IS OK, THE STARTER CHECKS OUT OF, BUT....THE CAR WILL NOT START. DASH LIGHTS INDICATE THAT THERE IS A POWER STEERING ISSUE AND I AM OUT OF GAS, BOTH OF WHICH ARE INCORRECT SO SOMETHING IS WRONG AND I AM OUT OF IDEAS AS TO WHAT ON THIS STUPID CAR THAT I NEVER SHOULD HAVE PURCHASED AND WILL NEVER PURCHASE AGAIN BECAUSE IT IS JUNK!! *TR
THE PLASTIC SUPPLY AND RETURN PORT ON THE MODULAR RESERVOIR ASSEMBLY IS CRACKED. FUEL IS LEAKING FROM THE AREA. FUEL CAN BE OBSERVED DRIPPING ONTO THE GROUND. I AM EXTREMELY WORRIED ABOUT A FIRE. I HAVE CONTACTED A DEALERSHIP ABOUT THE ISSUE AND THEY HAVE SAID MY VIN IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL AND THE REPAIR WILL BE CLOSE TO $700. THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL YEAR AND MAKE OF VEHICLE AS I SEARCHED ONLINE AND THERE WERE THOUSANDS OF SIMILAR ISSUES THAT ARE "OUTSIDE" OF THE AFFECTED AREA. *TR
WE STARTED TO SMELL GASOLINE EVERYTIME WE WALKED BY OR GOT INTO THE CAR. ABOUT A WEEK LATER FRIENDS WOULD SAY YOUR CAR SMELLS OF GASOLINE. WE TOOK CAR TO A LOCAL GM DEALERSHIP ASKED IF A PROBLEM OR RECALL EXISTED ON THE 2007 COBALT. WE WHERE TOLD THAT NO PROBLEM OR RECALL EXISTED AT THAT TIME. TWO GM EMPLOYEES WALKED AROUND THE CAR WITH US AND WE FIGURED THE GAS TO BE LEAKING NEAR THE FUEL TANK. FINANCES WHERE AN ISSUE AT THAT TIME , AS PAYMENTS ARE STILL OWED ON THE CAR, FINALLY IN FEBRUARY OF 2013 LEAK SEEMED TO BE WORSE. TOOK CAR TO A LOCAL GARAGE AND PAID $ 427.58 TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY FOR A PINHOLE / SMALL CRACK IN A FUEL LINE ATTACHED TO THE FUEL PUMP. DRIVING THE CAR IN THIS CONDITION WAS VERY STRESSFUL, THINKING OF A FIRE OR EXPLOSION. JUST SEEKING A REFUND ON THIS ISSUE, THANKS. *TR
I WAS DRIVING SOUTHBOUND ON THE LODGE FREEWAY IN DETROIT, MICHIGAN IN SNOWY CONDITIONS. MY CAR STALLED AND I SPENT OUT WITH NO CONTROL. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING FOR MANY YEARS AND I HAVE NEVER HAD A CAR STALL OUT ON ME AND SPEND OUT OF CONTROL SUCH AS THIS ONE. MY REAR DRIVER'S SIDE BUMPER AND FENDER WAS CRUSHED. I WAS UNAWARE OF THE GM RECALL UNTIL PRESENT AND HAD GM DISCLOSED THE RECALL INFORMATION BEFORE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE (PAID IN FULL) WITH MY CASH, HARD EARNED MONEY I WOULD HAVE NEVER DRIVEN TO MONROE MICHIGAN TO GET SUCH A VEHICLE AS THIS COULD HAVE HAPPENED TO MY WIFE OR DAUGHTER. GENERAL MOTORS HAD NO RIGHT TO WITHHOLD THIS INFORMATION AS THIS COULD HAVE BEEN FATAL. IN CONCLUSION, I THINK GM OWES ME A REFUND. *TR
I WAS ON THE LODGE FREEWAY, HIGHWAY 10, HEADING EAST WHEN I LOSS CONTROL BY 7 ME RD, SKINNED OUT, HIT THE WALL ON THE REAR LEFT FENDER AND BUMPER.
WHILE REMOVING A CRACKED FUEL TANK TO REPLACE IT WITH A NEW ONE, THE SUPPLY PORT OF THE FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLE CRACKED AND BROKE. THIS HAPPENED WITHOUT MUCH FORCE AT ALL, AND IS CERTAINLY NOT NORMAL FOR THIS TYPE OF SERVICE. *TR
2007 CHEVROLET COBALT. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO IGNITION SWITCH KEY AND COMPUTER SYSTEM. *SMD THE CONSUMER IS SEEKING REIMBURSEMENT FOR TWO PREVIOUS REPAIRS, PRIOR TO THE RECALL.
ON NOVEMBER 10, 2010, I WAS ON MY WAY TO WORK. IT WAS ABOUT 10:00AM IF I REMEMBER CORRECTLY. I COULD NOT EVEN MAKE IT OUT OF MY SUBDIVISION BEFORE MY COBALT BEGAN TO GIVE OUT ON ME. I MADE A RIGHT TURN AT A STOP SIGN, AND MY CAR SUDDENLY STARTED TO "ROLL" I WOULD SAY, BECAUSE I WAS NOT ABLE TO STEER OR PRESS THE BRAKES. BASICALLY THE CAR HAD CUT OFF WITHOUT ME KNOWING. I DEFINITELY DIDN'T EXPECT IT TO HAPPEN SINCE IT WAS ON A FULL TANK OF GAS. BUT ANYWAYS AS IT WAS ROLLING IT WAS PULLING TOWARDS THE RIGHT SINCE THAT'S HOW MY STEERING WHEEL WAS ALREADY TURNED FROM ME MAKING A RIGHT AT A STOP SIGN. I COULD NOT GET THE CAR TO STOP AND I WAS ROLLING DOWN THE HILL DRIFTING OFF INTO PEOPLES YARDS. THE CAR ROLLED INTO A BRICK MAILBOX. IT HIT PRETTY HARD. THE BRICK MAILBOX CAME COMPLETELY OUT OF THE GROUND AND LUCKILY FELL IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION. I SLUNG FORWARD ONE THE CAR HIT THE MAILBOX. I BLACKED OUT FOR A FEW SECONDS, AND THEN IMMEDIATELY WENT INTO A PANIC ATTACK WHICH CAUSED ME TO GO INTO AN ASTHMA ATTACK. I HAVE ASTHMA PRETTY BAD. THE AIR BAD DID NOT DEPLOY. THE FRONT END OF THE CAR WAS ALL SMASHED IN AND ALL THE FUELS HAD LEAKED OUT. BECAUSE I SLUNG FORWARD I HAD WHIPLASH, AND ALSO A KNOT ON MY HEAD AND A SWOLLEN BUSTED LIP. I WAS WEARING MY SEAT BELT. I WAS OUT OF WORK FOR A WHILE DUE TO THE PACK NECK AND HEAD INJURIES. THE POLICE WAS CALLED AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. AND OF COURSE THE CAR WAS TOTALED OUT, WHICH ALSO LEFT ME WITH NO TRANSPORTATION. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET COBALT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE ENTERING THE VEHICLE, A STRONG GASOLINE FUEL SMELL COULD BE NOTICED INSIDE THE CABIN. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE FUEL PUMP FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THE ISSUE AND NOTIFIED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 12V459000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:DELIVERY:FUEL PUMP). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNAVAILABLE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 73,000.
A WEEK AGO WE NOTICED A STRONG GAS ODOR COMING FROM THE CAR WHEN PARKED.THIS MORNING, I STARTED TO CAR TO LET IT WARM UP AND NOTICED GAS LEAKING OUT OF THE FUEL TANK. SO I TOOK THE CAR TO A FRIENDS AUTO REPAIR SHOP THIS MORNING TO FIND OUT THAT THERE'S A RECALL FOR THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. RECALL #09226B MY FRIEND SUGGESTED I TAKE THE CAR TO THE LOCAL DEALER (WAGNER GMC) IN BELLEVILLE, IL. SO I DROVE TO THE DEALER WITH THE RECALL IN HAND ONLY TO BE TOLD THAT THIS RECALL ONLY APPLIED TO VEHICLES MADE IN FL, CA, AZ, NV & TX. SO AS I STOOD IN THE DEALERS REPAIR SHOP WITH GAS DRIPPING OUT OF THE TANK, I WAS TOLD THE REPAIR WOULD COST ME $572.00. I THINK THIS IS A HORRIBLE MISTAKE ON GM'S BEHALF THAT COULD HAVE DEADLY CONSEQUENCES. I ONLY FEEL FORTUNATE THAT MY FAMILY DOESN'T SMOKE. I HATE TO THINK WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED IF OUR CAR WOULD HAVE CAME INTO CONTACT WITH AN IGNITION SOURCE. I ALSO CALL THE GM HOTLINE TO INQUIRE ABOUT THE RECALL, ONLY TO BE TOLD THE SAME THING. I EXPRESSED MY CONCERN THAT MY CAR IS EXPERIENCING THE SAME "CONDITIONS" LISTED IN THEIR RECALL NOTICE, REGARDLESS OF WHERE IT WAS MADE. THE DEALER THEN CALLED ME BACK TO INFORM ME THAT THEIR GM REP SAID THEY WOULD COVER 50% OF THE REPAIR COST. SO THE WHY I SEE IT IS THAT'S A 50% ADMISSION OF GUILT?? I'M JUST CURIOUS TO SEE IF THERE'S BEEN ANY OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS SAME PROBLEM. IT REALLY HAS THE POTENTIAL TO BE A DEADLY SITUATION. *TR
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. MECHANIC DIAGNOSED IT WITH AN FUEL LEAK. STRONG ODOR OF GASOLINE IN THE CAR. FUEL TANK COMING APART WHERE THE FILL TUBE ENTERS THE TANK. *TR
THE SAFETY CHIMES FOR THE TURN SIGNAL, SEAT BELTS NOT WORKING, KEYS LEFT IN, LIGHTS ON WORK THROUGH THE LEFT FRONT DRIVERS DOOR RADIO SPEAKER. THIS SPEAKER SEEMS TO GO IN MANY CARS. THE REST OF THE SPEAKERS WORK FINE BUT ARE NOT CONNECTED THE SAFETY SYSTEM. THERE ARE MANY DOCUMENTED EXAMPLES OF THIS ON LINE. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. WHAT IF A CHILD IS LEFT IN A CAR WHILE THE KEYS WERE LEFT IN THE IGNITION. THE CAR IS STARTED AND THE CHILD SENDS THE CAR INTO THE STREET RESULTING IN MANY FATALITIES. WHAT ABOUT THE DRIVER THAT FORGETS TO FASTEN SEATBELTS AND DON'T GET THE WARNING CHIME. THIS IS NOT A EASY FIX FOR THE DO IT YOURSELF AS THE DOOR NEEDS TO CAME APART TO ACCESS. THIS NEEDS TO BE A SAFETY RECALL AND GM NEEDS TO CORRECT BEFORE A TRAGEDY HAPPENS. *TR
STRONG FUEL SMELL. SMELLS LIKE IT MIGHT BE NEAR THE REAR OF THE CAR. WORRIED ABOUT POSSIBLE FIRE. *TR
MY 2007 CHEVY COBALT STARTED SMELLING VERY STRONGLY OF GAS FUMES- SO MUCH SO THAT I WAS AFRAID TO START IT IN THE GARAGE & BEGAN PARKING IT OUTSIDE. I THEN NOTICED PUDDLES ON THE GROUND AND MY GAS MILEAGE DROPPED DRASTICALLY FROM MY AVERAGE 30-32 HIGHWAY MPG TO ABOUT 18-19 MPG. I AM CURRENTLY OVERSEAS ON MILITARY ORDERS IN GERMANY. I HAD TO WAIT FOR AN APPOINTMENT AND GOT THE CAR CHECKED OUT AND WAS TOLD IT HAS A MAJOR GAS LEAK AND IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. IT HAS A CRACK IN THE FUEL PUMP AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. MY COMPLAINT IS THAT THE RECALL ON THIS DEFECTIVE FUEL PUMP IS LIMITED TO "WARM WEATHER STATES." A DEFECTIVE PART IS A SAFETY CONCERN THAT KNOWS NO GEOGRAPHICAL BOUNDARIES. I HAVE BEEN ACCUMULATING A LOT OF DEBT FROM HAVING TO HAVE A RENTAL CAR, WHICH I AM DRIVING FOR SAFETY REASONS, UNTIL I CAN GET AN ANSWER AS TO WHETHER GM WILL REPLACE MY DEFECTIVE FUEL PUMP. UNFORTUNATELY, MY CAR ISN'T COVERED IN THE RECALL BECAUSE I DON'T LIVE IN ONE OF THE "AFFECTED" STATES. SMELL IS SO BAD WE DON'T DRIVE THE CAR WITH OUR KIDS IN IT ANYMORE - CAUSES HEADACHES. WAITING FOR GM TO MAIL LETTERS ABOUT THIS ISSUE TO EVERYONE WHO IS AFFECTED REGARDLESS OF WHERE THEY LIVE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET COBALT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSIS AND SHE WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED A NEW FUEL CAP. THE FUEL CAP WAS REPLACED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO THE MECHANIC AND THE CONTACT WAS THEN INFORMED THAT THERE WAS A FUEL LEAK FROM THE O-RING IN THE FUEL TANK. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED YET THE FAILURE RECURRED ONCE AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS WHERE THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THERE WAS STILL A MASSIVE FUEL LEAK. THE LEAK WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE CONTACT CONTINUED TO SMELL AN OVERPOWERING ODOR OF GASOLINE WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE WOULD JERK ABNORMALLY WHEN DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 68,881 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
I HAVE AN EXTREME VIBRATION AND SOME CLANKING NOISE IN THE FRONT END OF MY 2007 CHEVY COBALT WHENEVER APPLYING MY BRAKES ON A DOWNHILL SLOPE. I DO MOSTLY FREEWAY DRIVING AND FORTUNATELY THERE AREN'T A LOT OF HILLS , SO MY BRAKES ARE NOT UNDER MUCH STOP AND GO STRAIN. I WAS TOLD THE MY CONTROL ARMS AND BUSHINGS WILL HAVE TO BE REPLACED AND THAT IT MAY COST $900 OR MORE AFTER LABOR. DUE TO THE COST, I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO DO THE REPAIRS AND AFTER LOOKING ONLINE, I SEE THAT SEVERAL OTHER PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE AND REPLACED THESE PARTS ONLY TO FIND THEY NEED TO BE REPLACED AGAIN IN AS LITTLE AS A YEAR. MY LAST CHEVY HAD NEARLY 300,000 MILES ON IT AND THERE WAS NEVER AN ISSUE WITH THE CONTROL ARMS, SO THIS DEFINITELY SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE WHO DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN ANY RECALLS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 106,281.

HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, WHERE THEY INFORMED HIM, THE FUEL PUMP HAD NO PRESSURE. THE CONSUMER THEN TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A REPAIR SHOP, WHERE THEY DISCOVERED A PROBLEM WITH THE GAS TANK, WHICH WAS LEAKING. THE LEAK WAS WHERE THE FUEL PUMP WAS CONNECTED TO THE GAS TANK. THE CONSUMER NOTIFIED CHEVROLET AND THEY DENIED THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE GAS TANK. A MONTH LATER, THE CONSUMER RECEIVED A RECALL, REGARDING A PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL PUMP. *JB
BATTERY DIED IN CAR, HAD TO JUMP THE CAR. CAR STARTED FINE, STEERING SEEMED TO BE A LITTLE TIGHT. AFTER A FEW MINUTES OF DRIVING THE TIGHTNESS IN THE STEERING WENT AWAY. HOWEVER UPON ARRIVING AT HOME THE KEY WOULD NOT COME OUT OF THE IGNITION, AND THE SHIFTER WOULD SHIFT INTO ANY GEAR EASILY WITHOUT HAVING TO PRESS IN THE SHIFTER BUTTON. ALSO IN ATTEMPTS TO REMOVE THE KEY THE STEERING WHEEL IS NOW LOCKED ALL THE WAY TO THE RIGHT WITH THE WHEELS LOCKED IN THE RIGHT POSITION. WAS ABLE TO REMOVE KEY FROM IGNITION BY LOCATING THE EMERGENCY KEY RELEASE SWITCH UNDER THE STEERING COLUMN BUT CAR WILL NOT START NOW AS KEY WONT TURN ALL THE WAY, AND SHIFTER STILL SHIFTS INTO ANY GEAR WITHOUT HAVING TO PRESS THE SHIFTER BUTTON. CAR WAS PARKED FRONT FIRST AGAINST BUILDING SO I HAVE NO IDEA HOW I WILL GET IT TOWED OUT OF THERE TO A SHOP TO FIX IT! I SUSPECT THE SHIFTER CABLE ASSEMBLY AT THE END OF THE SHIFTER WHICH IS MADE OUT OF PLASTIC IS BROKEN. WILL VERIFY WHEN ITS TAKEN APART. I HAVE SEEN AT LEAST 50 OTHER CASES ON THE INTERNET WHERE THIS PIECE BREAKS AND CAUSES THE CAR NOT TO REGISTER IT BEING IN PARK AND WILL NOT RELEASE KEY FROM IGNITION. GM RECALLED CERTAIN YEARS FOR SHIFTER PROBLEMS BUT NOT THE 2007 UNFORTUNATELY! *TR

I CALLED GMC AND COMPLAINED, THEY STATED THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET AND THEN POSSIBLY BE REIMBURSED. TODAY ON THE INTERNET GMC STATED I COULD GET A SPECIAL COVERAGE WARRANTY. I'LL SEE HOW THAT GOES. GMC'S RATIONALIZATION THAT THE STATES THEY LISTED FOR RECALL HAVE HIGHER TEMPERATURES THAN COLORADO DEPENDS ON WHERE YOU LIVE IN THAT STATE, I ASSURE YOU IT GETS JUST AS HOT IN COLORADO. THERE IS A RECALL ON THIS ISSUE BUT ONLY IN CERTAIN STATES, DELAWARE IS NOT ONE OF THEM.
