TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET COBALT. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER. THE FAILURE RECURRED NINE TIMES WHILE THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING BUT WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 10V073000 (STEERING:ELECTRIC POWER ASSIST SYSTEM) THAT COULD HAVE BEEN RELATED TO THE FAILURE BUT HE WAS ADVISED BY THE MANUFACTURER THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL CAMPAIGN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,900.
IGNITION SWITCH JAMS; AIR BAG LIGHT STAYS ON; CRUISE CONTROL STOPPED WORKING; AIRCONDITIONER STOPPED WORKING; TIRE LIGHT STAYS ON; ENGINE LIGHT STAYS ON; AND NOW HEATER IS BARELY WORKING. *TR
ONE MORNING WHEN I STARTED MY 2008 CHEVROLET COBALT WITH THE 2LT TRIM PACKAGE, THE AIRBAG READINESS LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYED ON THE WHOLE TIME I WAS DRIVING, AND AT THE SAME TIME THE PASSENGER AIRBAG STATUS INDICATOR OFF SYMBOL WAS LIT. THE CAR HAD NEVER BEEN INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT AND THE APPROXIMATE MILLAGE ON MY CAR AT THIS TIME WAS 50,577. THERE WAS A PERSON SETTING IN THE PASSENGER SEAT THAT WEIGHED APPROXIMATELY 140 POUNDS, SO THE AIRBAG SHOULD HAVE BEEN ON. EVER SINCE THAT DAY, EVERY TIME I START MY CAR THE AIRBAG READINESS LIGHT AND THE PASSENGER AIRBAG OFF LITE COME ON AND STAYS ON. I CHECKED THE CONNECTORS UNDER THE PASSENGER SEAT AND ALL WERE CONNECTED. I TOOK MY CAR, PAID OUT OF POCKET TO HAVE DIAGNOSTIC TESTING TO GET THE ERROR CODES FOR THIS BUT NO CODES WERE SHOWN. RECENTLY I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR THE IGNITION SWITCH SAFETY RECALL REPAIRED. AFTER READING CHEVROLET COBALT TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS ABOUT AIRBAGS, NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER COBALT OWNERS ABOUT THIS EXACT PROBLEM, RECALLS THAT HAD THE TERM AIRBAGS MENTIONED, I DECIDED TO TELL MY CONCERN TO THE SERVICE EMPLOYEES AND WAS TOLD THIS WASN'T COVERED, THAT I COULD PAY FOR THEM TO DO TESTING ON IT. SEEING AS I HAD ALREADY PAID FOR THE EXACT SAME TESTING BEFORE WITH NO RESULTS AS TO WHAT WAS WRONG, I DECLINED TO HAVE IT DONE AGAIN. I CONTACTED CHEVROLET BY EMAIL CONCERNING THIS. THEY EMAILED ME BACK ASKING FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. I REPLYED WITH THAT INFORMATION AND HAVE NEVER HEARD ANYTHING BACK FROM THEM. WHAT DO THOSE OF US WHO HAVE SAFETY CONCERNS ASSOCIATED WITH THE AIRBAGS NEED TO DO TO GET CHEVROLET TO ACKNOWELEDGE THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT NEEDS THEIR ATTENTION SEEING AS THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE COBALTS? SEEING AS CHEVROLET HAS PUT OUT TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS CONCERNING THIS EXACT PROBLEM PROVES THEY ARE AWARE OF IT BUT HAVE YET TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT.
THE CONTROL ARM BUSHINGS HAD TO BE REPLACED WITH LESS THAN 8000 MILES ON THE CAR. THEY WENT SO BAD THE CAR SWERVED AND CLANKED AND CHATTERED WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED. LESS THAN 8000 MILES ON THE CAR??? THIS IS A JOKE. I SEE ON THE INTERNET A LOT OF PEOPLE WITH SAME COMPLAINTS. WHY NO RECALL? *TR
WELL I GOT MY CAR BACK IN 2009 AND NOW I OWN IT, WELL I HAVE HAD POWER STEERING WHICH I HAD FIXED,BUT NOW I'VE BEEN REALLY HAVING A BAD GAS SMELL AND ONE OF MY FRIENDS DAD IS A MECHANIC AND HE LOOKED AT IT AND HE'S THINKING SOMETHING WRONG WITH EITHER THE LINE OR THE FILTER OR TANK, I CANT STAND DRIVING MY OWN CAR CAUSE HOW BAD THE SMELL IS I'VE STARTED HAVING NOSE BLEEDS,AND THAT'S NOT MY ONLY PROBLEM ALL MY LIGHTS ARE GOING OFF(TIRE,AIRBAG,)ETC. STRONG ODOR OF FUEL COMING FORM THE FUEL PUMP / TANK AREA. SOME OF THE VARIOUS MODELS & YEARS WERE RECALLED, BUT NOT THIS CAR. WHEN THE CAR BECAME HARD TO START, I REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP MYSELF AND THAT SOLVED THE PROBLEM AND THE FUEL ODOR WENT AWAY. WE TOOK THE CAR TO THE CHEVROLET DEALER IN DECEMBER OF 2011 TO ADDRESS AN UNRELATED RECALL. THEY WERE MADE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND ACKNOWLEDGED THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM BUT STATED "THIS CAR WAS NOT COVERED BY A RECALL". IN THE LAST FEW WEEKS WE DIDN'T PARK THE CAR INSIDE OF THE GARAGE BECAUSE WE THOUGHT IT WOULD CATCH FIRE. *TR

ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK IN HEAVY TRAFFIC IN INDIANAPOLIS, SOMEONE IN FRONT OF ME HIT THEIR BRAKES HARD. AS A RESULT, I ALSO HAD TO SLAM ON MY BRAKES. WHEN I DID SO, MY REAR END SPUN OUT. I LOST POWER STEERING. I CRASHED HEAD FIRST INTO THE CONCRETE MEDIAN. HOWEVER, THE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. LUCKILY, I ESCAPED SEVERE INJURY; ALTHOUGH THE WRECK, THE RESULTING LOSS OF POWER STEERING, AND THE FACT THAT THE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY WERE DIRECTLY DUE TO THE NEGLIGENCE OF GENERAL MOTORS. *TR

THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12V459000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000.

MY CAR RAN INTO 3 TIMES (2012 - 2, 2014 -1) LOST CONTROL WHEN I DRIVE TO HIGH WAY AND CAR LOST POWER AND CONTROL. LUCKILY I DON'T HAVE ANY INJURY. BUT IT'S HUGE DANGEROUS WHEN MY FAMILY ALSO IN THE CAR. I DON'T KNOW EXACT REASON AT BEGINNING. I ALWAYS SEND CAR TO FULL MAINTENANCE AFTER THE INCIDENT. THEY ALWAYS CHARGED ME DIFFERENT FIX AS WELL. RECENTLY I CONTINUOUSLY RECEIVED GM SAFETY RECALL LETTER TO FIX THE GM SAFETY RECALL 14115. I TRIED TO MAKE APPOINTMENT WITH DIFFERENT DEALERS. THEY ALWAYS TOLD ME THE PARTS IS NOT READY AND THERE IS NO ESTIMATED TIME, MAYBE TAKE VERY LONG TIME (MONTHS) TO WAIT, EVEN GM URGE ME TO FIX IT AT THE SAME TIME. UNTIL NOW, I HAVE ALREADY RECEIVED 4 LETTERS FROM GM CHEVROLET AND TELL ME FIX AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, PARTS AVAILABLE. HOWEVER, I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THEIR BRANCHES TAKE SO LONG TIME AND IT SEEMS PUT INTO A SUCH A LOW AND SLOW PRIORITY. A MANUFACTURER MAY HAVE FLAW IN THEIR PRODUCTS. HOWEVER, IF THEY COULD NOT FIX IT FOR CUSTOMER AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, THEY SHOULD NOT DESERVE CUSTOMER SATISFACTION AND RESPECT. THEY REGARD CUSTOMER SAFETY AS NOTHING. I WON'T BUY ANY CARS OF THIS VENDER, NOR MY FRIEND. I AND MY FRIENDS DISCUSSED THIS AND THEY ARE ALL SURPRISED AND SUGGESTED ME SELL CARS. AND ALSO SHARE THE COMMENTS AND FEELINGS IN THIS CHANNEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING WHERE THE TECHNICIAN ADVISED THAT THE FUEL PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN ANY RECALLS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 108,000.

ON TUESDAY MORNING I WENT TO PICK UP MY MAIL AND I NOTICE SOMETHING HANGING FROM MY CAR CEILING INSIDE THE CAR WHEN I WENT TO TAKE A LOOK, IT LOOK LIKE MY AIRBAG FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE FROM FRONT ALL THE WAY BACK ARE DEPLOYED. THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT NOR ANYONE ATTEMPT TO STEEL THE CAR. I'M 70 YEARS OLD IMAGINE IF THIS THING DEPLOYED WHILE I'M DRIVING, FOR SURE THERE WILL BE SOMEONE DEAD. I CONTACTED GMC TO HELP ME OUT SO FAR THEY KEEP SAYING THEY WILL SEND AN INSPECTOR TO TAKE A LOOK BUT THIS WILL NOT HAPPEN FOR ANOTHER WEEK OR SO. SO I CAN'T DRIVE THE CAR FOR SAFETY ISSUES AND THEY WILL NOT GIVE ME A RENTAL CAR. WHAT IF THERE IS AN EMERGENCY AND I DO NEED A CAR WHAT THEN? I'M NOT HAPPY WITH THE SERVICE THAT THEY PROVIDING ME. GM IS NOT FIXING THE WHOLE POWER STEERING ISSUE IN THEIR COBALTS. I HAD THE RECALL FIXED, THE POWER STEERING MOTOR, ON 10/10/12 AND THREE DAYS LATER IT FAILED AGAIN. I WAS EXITING I95 IN WILMINGTON, DE AND WAS VERY CLOSE TO HITTING THE CONCRETE DIVIDER ON THE EXIT RAMP TO US 202. THE PROBLEM WITH THE CAR IS THE WHOLE STEERING COLUMN IS FAULTY. LOOKING AROUND IN THE INTERNET SHOWS MANY OTHERS THAT WERE TOLD THEY NEEDED TO REPLACE THE STEERING COLUMN TO FIX THE POWER STEERING ISSUE, SAME AS MY DEALER TOLD ME. BUT ALL GM IS DOING IS FIXING THE CHEAPEST PART. I HAVE TRIED THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE AND GET NOWHERE. THEY SAY THEY FIXED MY POWER STEERING PROBLEM AND GET ALL DEFENSIVE WHEN I TELL THEM THAT IT STILL HAPPENS. IT HAPPENS AFTER DRIVING ABOUT 200-250 MILES. LOCAL TRIPS ARE FINE EXCEPT THAT THE STEERING LOOSES FEEL AND SHAKES AND FEELS BUMPY IN THE STEERING WHEEL. FOR THE SAFETY OF ALL PEOPLE ON THE ROAD I FEEL YOU GUYS SHOULD TEST SOME COBALTS ON A GOOD 300 MILE TRIP AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS. I'LL EVEN LEND MINE TO YOU IF YOU WANT. *TR
CAR HAD STARTING ISSUES, ONCE TOOK TO THE MECHANIC, THEY FOUND OUT THAT THE FUEL PUMP CONNECTORS WERE BURNED AND HAD POSSIBILITY OF IGNITING DURING DRIVING. CHEVY RECALLED MANY CARS(COBALTS) WITH THE SAME ISSUES FROM 2007 TO 2009, WHEN WE CALLED CHEVY ABOUT OUR VEHICLE, THEY SAID OUR CAR WASN'T INCLUDED IN THE RECALL EVEN THOUGH WE HAD THAT PROBLEM.
THE CAR BEGAN SMELLING STRONGLY OF GAS AND BECAME DIFFICULT TO START. THERE IS A LEAK IN THE FUEL SYSTEM. THERE ARE RECALLS DUE TO FUEL LEAKS IN MY STATE FOR THE 2007 AND 2009 COBALT, HOWEVER, FOR MY 2008 MODEL THE RECALL IS ONLY IN ARIZONA. MY VEHICLE IS HAVING THE SAME ISSUES AND SHOULD BE RECALLED AS WELL. *TR

THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE HAD THE SMELL OF FUEL FUMES, ESPECIALLY WHEN FILLING UP THE VEHICLE. SAW ON TV THAT THE COBALT HAD A FUEL SYSTEM RECALL AND ASSUMED THAT WAS THE PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM WAS THE FUEL TANK WAS CRACKED AT THE FILL NECK. I HAD TO PAY TO REPLACE THE FUEL TANK ($690), GM PAID FOR THE PART BEING RECALLED. *TR
DRIVING CAR ON INTERSTATE AT APPROX. 70 MILES PER HOUR. REAR DRIVERS SIDE TIRE SEPARATED CAUSING CAR TO VEER OFF THE ROAD INTO GRASSY AREA. PROCEEDED APPROX. 75 FEET BEFORE STOPPING VEHICLE. CAR HAD OVER 1200.00 DOLLARS WORTH OF DAMAGE TO REAR BUMPER, TAIL LIGHT AND REAR DOOR FROM TIRE BEATING UP AGAINST CAR. THE WHOLE TREAD SEPARATED FROM THE TIRE. *TR

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED WHO STATED THAT ALTHOUGH THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE FAILURE UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 12V459000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE: DELIVERY: FUEL PUMP), THE CONTACT'S VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL CAMPAIGN. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BY THE CONTACT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 52,277.
ON 9/24/2012 AT AROUND 5 PM MY WIFE AND DAUGHTER WERE AT THE NAVARRO COUNTY COLLEGE TO SEE A TEACHER, MY DAUGHTER WHO HAD JUST HAD MAJOR SURGERY GOT LOCKED INTO THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT. AFTER 10 MINUTES AND 2 SECURITY GUARDS AND 2 NICE GENTLEMEN TRIED ALL THEY COULD THEY COULD NOT GET MY DAUGHTER SEATBELT TO COME UNBUCKLED SO THEY HAD TO CUT HER OUT OF THE SEAT BELT. THIS IS A SERIOUS INCIDENT THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED , WHEN I CALLED THE LOCAL DEALER IN ENNIS HE SAID OH ITS NO BIG DEAL ! HE WASN'T THE ONE WHO JUST HAD SURGERY ON HER ARM AND WAS STUCK IN A SEATBELT. I WANT SOMEONE TO CALL ME BACK ON THIS! I THINK CHEVY SHOULD LET PEOPLE KNOW THIS CAN HAPPEN AT ANY TIME. PURCHASED THE CAR FROM DON CARLSON HYUNDAI IN TULSA, OKLAHOMA ON THE EVENING OF 19 SEPTEMBER 2012 AND DROVE IT TO OUR HOME IN EDMOND, OKLAHOMA, AND BY THE TIME WE GOT HOME THERE WAS A STRONG FUEL SMELL. THE DEALER HAD JUST TOLD US THAT THE CAR HAD JUST HAD THE WINDSHIELD REPLACED, SO WE JUST CHALKED IT UP TO THE CURING OF THE ADHESIVES THEY USED INSTALLING THE WINDSHIELD, BUT IT IS NOW THE 28TH OF SEPTEMBER 2012, THE ODOR IS GETTING STRONGER, AND THE CAR IS BECOMING MORE AND MORE DIFFICULT TO START. YOU HAVE TO LET IT CRANK AND CRANK BEFORE IT WILL FINALLY START, ALMOST LIKE IT IS FLOODED AS BACK IN THE OLD DAYS OF CARBS. THIS DOES NOT SEEM TO BE AN ISOLATED PROBLEM WITH ALL THE PROBLEMS BEING REPORTED ON VARIOUS SITES AND IT SEEMS TO BE ONE THAT I WOULD DEEM AS AN EXTREME SAFETY ISSUE WITH IT RELATING TO GASOLINE AND GASOLINE FUMES. GAS FUMES WERE SMELLED BY MY DAUGHTERS PASSENGERS AS THEY CARPOOLED TO COLLEGE. WHEN PARKED, I SMELLED GAS FUMES COMING FROM THE VEHICLE FOR UP TO 5 HOURS. MY DAUGHTER COULD NOT USE VEHICLE FOR FEAR OF FIRE INCIDENT. I REPORTED A SEVERE DECLINE IN FUEL ECONOMY FOR THIS VEHICLE, MONTHS AGO. PRIOR TO BRINGING THE VEHICLE TO MY MECHANIC, I CHECKED WITH THE DEALER FOR A RECALL ON THIS MODEL YEAR, WHO REPORTED NO RECALL . ON THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 27TH, 2012 MECHANIC DISCOVERED FUEL LEAK FROM THE FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM. I PURCHASED A NEW FUEL PUMP AND FILTER AND IT WAS REPLACED. WITHIN THE PAST FEW WEEKS I HAVE NOTICED A STRONG SMELL OF GAS OUTSIDE MY CAR. THE SMELL IS VERY STRONG RIGHT AFTER MAKING A TRIP, EVEN SHORT TRIPS, AND STILL HAS STRONG SMELL WHEN CAR HASN'T BEEN USED. UPON PARKING MY 2008 COBALT, I COULD SMELL RAW (UNBURNED) GAS. I DID NOT SEE ANY DRIPS ON THE GROUND BUT WHEN I INSPECTED UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE; THE FUEL PUMP AREA NEAR THE GAS TANK, I COULD SEE LIQUID GAS TRAILS COMING DOWN AND A BUILD UP OF DIRT WHICH HAD COATED THE SURROUNDING AREA DUE TO THE GAS THAT HAD LEAKED AND DRIED. THE COBALT WAS HESITATING, THE ENGINE WAS SURGING AND I ALSO NOTICED A SMALL DROP IN FUEL MILEAGE. I TOOK MY COBALT TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP AND THEY TOLD ME THERE WAS A CRACK IN THE FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY AND SHOWED ME THE FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY AND I OBSERVED A LEAK AT THE CONNECTION WHERE THE FUEL LINES ARE ATTACHED TO THE FUEL PUMP. THEY WERE UNABLE TO REPAIR THE LEAK BECAUSE IT IS ALL PLASTIC SO THEY REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY. IT APPEARS THAT IN TIME THIS NEW ASSEMBLY WILL FAIL AGAIN DUE TO ITS DESIGN AND I WILL HAVE A RECURRING PROBLEM. *TR

MY FUEL PUMP WAS LEAKING CAUSING SEVERE FUEL LOSS WHILE DRIVING. I UNDERSTAND THAT THERE WAS A CAMPAIGN (226B) THAT CORRECTED THIS DEFECT. THE DEALER TOLD ME MY VEHICLE HAD THE CORRECTED FUEL PUMP. APPARENTLY THE CORRECTED FUEL PUMP DID NOT ADDRESS THE ISSUE ENTIRELY. I AM OUT $854.16 FOR SOMETHING THAT THERE IS AN OPEN CAMPAIGN AGAINST. *TR

THE WIRING HARNESS FAILED AND CAUSED WIRES TO FRAY, CORRODE, BREAK, AND BECOME EXPOSED. THIS LED TO FAILURE OF DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS. WIRING HARNESS REPLACED. MY VEHICLE HAD A STRONG GASOLINE SMELL WHICH PERSISTED ALTHOUGH I COULD FIND NO TRACE OF LEAKAGE. WHEN I TOOK IT TO MY INDEPENDENT REPAIR FACILITY I WAS INFORMED THAT THE PUMP HAD A CRACKED SUPPLY PORT ON THE FUEL PUMP WHICH WAS LEAKING WHEN THE CURRENT WAS APPLIED, BEING THAT THIS IS MY ONLY VEHICLE, I WAS COMPELLED TO HAVE THE REPAIR DONE AT A COST TO ME OF $961.42 WHICH INCLUDED THE REPLACEMENT OF THE FUEL FILTER AS MY MECHANIC ADVISED ME THAT NOT REPLACING THE FILTER WOULD IMPEDE THE EFFICIENCY OF THE NEW PUMP MODULE. THE FOLLOWING DAY, I INQUIRED OF CHEVROLET AS TO WHETHER THIS PROBLEM WAS INVOLVED IN ANY ONGOING RECALL AND WAS TOLD AT THAT TIME THAT IT WAS NOT. IN NOVEMBER, I WAS NOTIFIED BY MAIL THAT THIS VEHICLE WAS NOW INCLUDED IN A SAFETY RECALL (12190) [NHTSA# 12V459] FOLLOWING THE INSTRUCTIONS INCLUDED IN MY CORRESPONDENCE, I TOOK THE VEHICLE INTO A CHEVROLET DEALER (POWER CHEVROLET / MESA, AZ) AT WHICH TIME THE MODULE WAS INSPECTED AND FOUND TO BE ACCEPTABLE AND APPROVED. I SUBMITTED MY DOCUMENTATION FOR, AND REQUESTED A FULL REIMBURSEMENT. IN EARLY JANUARY OF THIS YEAR I RECEIVED A CHECK IN THE AMOUNT OF $700.00. WHEN I CONTACTED CHEVY AS TO WHY I DID NOT RECEIVE FULL REIMBURSEMENT, I WAS TOLD THAT MY INDEPENDENT REPAIR FACILITY HAD "OVER CHARGED" ME FOR THE FUEL PUMP MODULE AND, HAD I TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER INITIALLY, IT IS STANDARD PROCEDURE TO NOT REPLACE THE FUEL FILTER!! IN THE CORRESPONDENCE I RECEIVED FROM CHEVROLET INFORMING ME OF THIS SAFETY RECALL IT IS STATED IN TWO PLACES THAT THIS SITUATION WOULD BE RECTIFIED "AT NO COST" TO ME. I NOTICED A SLIGHT TAPPING/RATTLING NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE. THE NOISE ONLY OCCURS BETWEEN THE SPEEDS OF 50-60 MPH AND ONLY WHEN LETTING OFF THE GAS COMPLETELY. THEN I RECEIVED IN THE MAIL AN IGNITION CYLINDER RECALL. MY CAR HAD PROBLEMS WITH LOCKING UP AND DIFFICULTIES TURNING THE KEY. SO I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP TOLD THEM ABOUT THE NOISE I WAS HEARING THEN WAITED A WEEK WITH NO CALL FROM THE DEALERSHIP SO I CALLED THEM. THEY TOLD ME MY CAR WOULD BE FINISHED BY NOON, I ARRIVED AT 4 PM. THEY THEN TOLD ME MY CAR WAS NOT YET FINISHED. THE DEALERSHIP HAD NOT EVEN PUT IN THE NEW IGNITION CYLINDER EVEN AFTER A WEEK. I WAS TOLD THE NOISE COULD NOT BE REPLICATED. I WAITED FOR THE IGNITION TO BE PUT IN (ABOUT 30 MINS) THEN TOOK ONE OF THE DEALERSHIP MECHANICS ON A TEST DRIVE TO HEAR THE NOISE. NOISE WAS HEARD AND TOOK IT BACK TO THE SHOP. CHECKED UNDER THE CAR AND NOTHING WRONG COULD BE FOUND. THE LEAD MECHANIC TOOK IT FOR A TEST DRIVE BUT DUE TO THE HEAVY DOWNPOUR OF RAIN NOTHING WAS HEARD. I WAS ASKED TO BRING THE CAR BACK ON MONDAY DUE TO POSSIBLE SEVERITY OF THE SITUATION. DROPPED THE CAR BACK OFF AT THE DEALERSHIP MONDAY. A TEST DRIVE AND A LOOK UNDER THE CAR AND THEY FOUND THE PROBLEM, NOISE COMING FROM RACK AND PINION WHILE HITTING BUMPS RACK WORN AND NEEDS REPLACEMENT STEERING COLUMN MAKING NOISE AS WELL RECOMMEND REPLACEMENT WITH OUT REPLACEMENT THE CAR WOULD EVENTUALLY HAVE NO STEERING ABILITY AT ALL: COST $1524 NO WARRANTY. THIS CAR HAS HAD THE POWER STEERING RECALL REPLACEMENT (THE STEERING WHEEL SUDDENLY STOPPED WORKING WHILE IN A PARKING LOT DUE TO BROKEN PINION) IN 2010 AND A TRANSMISSION ISSUE (RPM REV WHEN THE CAR HIT 40 WHEN THE GAS WAS NOT BEING APPLIED) THAT WAS A WORN SEAL IT WAS FIXED AND COVERED BY WARRANTY IN 2011.
