TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET CORVETTE CO5 HARDTOP COUPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS NO WARNING ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL TO INDICATE THAT THE HARDTOP IS NOT LOCKED. OVER THE PAST THREE YEARS, THE AIR PRESSURE CAUSES THE UNLOCKED HARDTOP TO BECOME AIRBORNE WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THE HARDTOP HAS BEEN REPLACED THREE TIMES AND HAS COST THE CONTACT A LOT OF MONEY. HE STATED THAT THE FAILURE IS A SAFETY HAZARD BECAUSE THE HARDTOP COULD DETACH FROM THE VEHICLE AND STRIKE ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 25,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET CORVETTE THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED EXCESSIVE BATTERY DRAIN. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE LO JACK SYSTEM HAD CAUSED THE BATTERY TO DRAIN AND IT NEEDED TO BE DISCONNECTED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BATTERY HAD BEEN REPLACED NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. CRACKED WINDSHIELD GLASS ON 2005 CORVETTE. THE INSIDE OF THE GLASS HAS CRACKED FROM THE MOUNTING CLAMP AT THE TOP OF THE GLASS ALL THE WAY TO THE BOTTOM. ONLY THE INSIDE OF THE GLASS IS CRACKED, THERE IS NO DAMAGE TO THE OUTSIDE OF THE GLASS! *TR
ACTIVE HANDLING ACTIVATED ON MY 2005 CORVETTE AT ABOUT 35-40 MPH LOCKING AND UNLOCKING THE BRAKES, REPEATEDLY, ON ONLY THE FRONT RIGHT WHEEL. WAS CRUISING AT A STEADY SPEED IN A STRAIGHT LINE. NEARLY LOST CONTROL OF CAR. APPARENTLY THIS IS A COMMON OCCURRENCE WITH THE C6 CORVETTES. IN THE DEALERSHIP NOW FOR REPAIR. DEALER INDICATES THE STEERING POSITION SENSOR HAS FAILED. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS PRODUCT DEFECT! *TR

FOR THE SECOND TIME IN THREE MONTHS, MY 2005 CHEVY CORVETTE DECIDED TO LOCK ME OUT AGAIN ON ITS OWN. THE "SMART KEY" SYSTEM, WHICH IS SUPPOSE TO LOCK THE DOORS WHEN THE KEYS ARE OUT OF THE CAR AND UNLOCKS WHEN THE KEYS ARE IN THE CAR. WELL IT FREAKS OUT WHEN THERE ARE TWO KEYS IN THERE. WHENEVER THERE ARE TWO KEYS IN THE CAR, THE SYSTEM FLIPS AND LOCKS THE PERSON OUT. THIS IS THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM AS I HAD LAST TIME. MY KEYS ARE IN PLAIN VIEW OF MY WINDOW, YET I STILL CANT GET IN BECAUSE THE DOORS WONT UNLOCK. IS THERE ANYWAY TO GET CHEVY TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. NOW I HAVE TO FIND A WAY TO GET IN MY CAR. *TR
RECEIVE "SERVICE ACTIVE HANDLING" MESSAGE INTERMITTENTLY CAUSING DEACTIVATION OF ACTIVE HANDLING. HAD LOCAL CHEVY DEALERSHIP FIX THE PROBLEM WHICH WAS A FAULTY SWPS SENSOR. CALLED GM TO SEE ABOUT COVERAGE FOR THIS ISSUE BUT THEY SAID MY VIN NUMBER ISN'T AFFECTED IN THE RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET CORVETTE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE GEAR SHIFTER FAILED TO SHIFT OUT OF PARK UNTIL AFTER NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000.
I PULLED OUT OF A PARKING LOT. I WAS GOING 20MPH WHEN THE ACTIVE HANDLING MESSAGE CAME ON ON THE DASH. WHEN THE SYSTEM BECAME ACTIVATE, THE SYSTEM DECIDED TO PULL THE CAR HARD TO THE RIGHT AND STOPPED THE CAR COMPLETELY. THERE WAS NOTHING I CAN DO OTHER THAN YANKING THE WHEEL TO THE LEFT TO KEEP MYSELF AWAY FROM THE CURB. I WAS LUCKY I DIDN'T GET REAR ENDED AND KEPT AWAY FROM THE CURB. I HAD TO RESTART THE COMPUTER TO RESET THE SYSTEM. THE ACTIVE HANDLING SYSTEM HAS HAD INTERMITTENT PROBLEM WITH MANY CORVETTE OWNERS, PLEASE RESEARCH. *TR
WITH THE CAR IN REVERSE, LETTING OUT ON THE CLUTCH A LOUD BANG WAS HEARD FROM THE REAR OF THE CAR. VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE UNDER IT'S OWN POWER. DEALER FOUND THE RIGHT REAR DRIVE AXLE SNAPPED. *TR
AFTER ABOUT 2.5 YEARS THE CONVERTIBLE TOP MECHANISM STARTED GETTING NOISY AND THEN REFUSED TO CLOSE ALL THE WAY. THE DEALER REPAIRED IT UNDER WARRANTY WITH A NEW ELECTRIC MOTOR AND A PUMP REPAIR KIT. ABOUT A YEAR LATER THE EXACT SAME THING HAPPENED BUT THE DEALER REFUSED TO REPAIR IT UNDER THE ORIGINAL WARRANTY SAYING THAT IT WAS A DIFFERENT PROBLEM. THIS TIME HE REPLACED ALL THE HYDRAULIC HOSES ON THE LEFT SIDE AND CHARGED ME ABOUT $900.00. I FEEL THAT THE PROBLEM WASN'T PROPERLY REPAIRED THE FIRST TIME. *TR
AUTOMATIC SHIFTER GETS STUCK IN PARK RANDOMLY.
I WAS ON THE TRIMBLE ROAD ON RAMP IN SAN JOSE, CA MERGING ONTO FREEWAY 101 AT APPROXIMATELY 1235 PM PST AND 793 FEET FROM THE DE LA CRUZ/TRIMBLE ROAD TRAFFIC LIGHT. TRAFFIC CONDITIONS WERE LIGHT, WEATHER WAS DRY AND ROAD CONDITIONS WERE EXCELLENT. THE ON RAMP IS APPROXIMATELY AN 1/4TH OF A MILE LONG. I PULLED INTO THE COMMUTER LANE TO PASS 2 VEHICLES THAT WERE TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 40-45 MPH. I PASSED THE FIRST VEHICLE AND WAS ABOUT TO PASS THE SECOND WHEN MY 2005 CORVETTE STEERED TO THE RIGHT CAUSING THE RIGHT FRONT OF MY CAR TO IMPACT A 1984 4 DOOR SEDAN TOYOTA ON THE LEFT REAR QUARTER PANEL/BUMPER, BEHIND THE LEFT REAR WHEEL. THE TOYOTA STARTED TO SLIDE RIGHT AND WHEN THE WHEELS WENT FROM ASPHALT TO DIRT CAUSED THE TOYOTA TO ROLL OVER COMING TO REST ON ITS' WHEELS IN THE MEDIAN ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE ON RAMP. MY CAR CAME TO REST IN THE DIRT ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ROAD APPROXIMATELY HALF WAY ON THE ON RAMP. THE DRIVER OF THE TOYOTA HAD A CUT ON ONE OF HER FINGERS AND WAS EXTREMELY EMOTIONAL. I WAS NOT INJURED. MY CAR IS EQUIPPED WITH ON-STAR WHICH DID NOT ACTIVATE DUE TO THE CRASH. NONE OF THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED IN MY CAR. ON OCTOBER 4TH, 2007 I TOOK MY CAR TO COURTESY CHEVROLET IN SAN JOSE, CA; I TOLD THE SERVICE REP THAT I HAD RECEIVED 2 NOTICES IN THE DRIVER INFORMATION CENTER DISPLAY TO SERVICE THE "ACTIVE HANDLING SYSTEM SOON" AND THAT I HAD IMPACTED A CURB. THE SERVICE REP ASKED ME IF THE MESSAGE RECURRED AFTER TURNING THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON AND I TOLD THEM NO BUT IT DID DISPLAY TWO DIFFERENT TIMES ABOUT A WEEK APART. I WAS TOLD THAT TURNING THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON CLEARED THE ERROR CODE SO THERE WAS NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT. I HAD THE CAR ALIGNED. I THOUGHT THE RIGHT FRONT A ARM BROKE CAUSING THE ACCIDENT DUE TO HITTING THE CURB IN OCTOBER UNTIL I RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE 10118. I SAVED ALL OF THE MECHANICAL PARTS REPLACED ON THE RIGHT FRONT OF MY CAR AND STILL HAVE THEM. THE STEERING SENSOR WAS REPLACED BY THE DEALER ON 1-30-08. *TR
MY SERVICE ACTIVE HANDLING LIGHT CAME ON 11/13/09.ON 11/14/09 I WAS TRAVELING ACROSS A BRIDGE AT 55 MILES PER HOUR WHEN MY BRAKES AND STEERING LOCKED UP. I HAD NO CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. I EVENTUALLY SLID TO A STOP CAUSING TRAFFIC BEHIND ME TO SWERVE INTO THE NEXT LANE. I COULD BARELY GET THE CAR OFF THE ROAD BECAUSE THE BRAKES WOULD NOT RELEASE. THIS IS A 2005 CHEVROLET CORVETTE WITH 33,000 MILES. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THE STEERING SENSOR INSIDE THE STEERING COLUMN WAS BAD AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND THE WIRES NEEDED TO BE CHECKED AND RE TIGHTENED. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN MORE SEVERE OR EVEN FATAL IF NOT FOR THE TIME OF DAY AND THE AMOUNT OF TRAFFIC. I COULD NOT BELIEVE SOMETHING SO DANGEROUS WAS NOT RECALLED. I AM SURE OTHERS HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM AND CRASHED THEIR CARS AND HAD NO IDEA WHAT HAPPENED, IF NOT FOR MY QUICK REACTIONS OR LUCK, I MIGHT HAVE RAN OFF THE BRIDGE AND KILLED MYSELF OR INJURED SOMEONE ELSE. THAT WOULD BE THE FIRST THING I CHECKED ON ANY 2005 CORVETTE THAT HAD AN UNEXPLAINED CRASH WHERE THE DRIVER SIMPLY LOST CONTROL. I WAS NOT ACCELERATING OR DOING ANYTHING OUT OF THE ORDINARY WHEN MY INCIDENT OCCURRED. THE REPAIR COST ME $612.00, COSTLY FOR WHAT APPEARS TO BE AN ENGINEERING FLAW. I AM NOT EXAGGERATING WHEN I SAY HE VEHICLE WAS COMPLETELY OUT OF MY CONTROL! THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS PROBLEM THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. I DON'T BELIEVE THAT CHEVROLET OR ANY DEALERSHIP SHOULD PROFIT FROM THIS LIFE THREATENING DEFECT. *TR
I WAS DRIVING MY 2005 CORVETTE IN TRAFFIC AND REALIZED I NEED TO BE IN THE NEXT LINE TO MAKE THE NEXT TURN. I WAS STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT AND THERE WAS NO TRAFFIC IN THE LANE NEXT TO ME, SO I TURNED THE WHEEL SHARPLY TO THE RIGHT AND GAVE IT A LIITLE GAS. AS I WAS STRAIGHTENING OUT THE CAR SHOOK VIOLENLTY, IT FELT LIKE ALL FOUR BRAKES WHERE LOCKING UP AND RELEASING RANDOMLY. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER AND COME TO A COMPLETE STOP, BUT THE CAR WAS STILL SHAKING. THE ACTIVE HANDLING ACTIVE WAS ON THE INFO CENTER. I SHUT THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTED IT AND EVERYTHING WAS FINE AGAIN. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE CHEVY DEALERSHIP AND THEY DID SOMETHING WITH STEERING WHEEL POSITION SENSOR. *TR
CHEVROLET 2005 CORVETTE. APROX.40,000 MILES DRIVING UNDER NORMAL CONDITIONS. DRY/SUNNY. DRIVING SLOWLY IN MORNING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. CHANGING FROM FIRST TO SECOND GEAR. PEDAL LOST PRESSURE, SANK TO THE FLOOR. SLAVE CYLINDER, HYDRAULIC CLUTCH FAILURE. LINE RUPTURED, SQUIRTIG BRAKE FLUID ALL OVER HOT EXHAUST MANIFOLD, BLOCK, HEADS, FIREWALL. FLUID CAUGHT FIRE . SEEN SMOKE WITHIN TWO SECONDS AFTER PEDAL SANK TO THE FLOOR. POPPED HOOD SEEN FLAMES. WAS ABLE TO PUT OUT. SEEMS TO BE VERY DANGEROUS , GENERIC DESIGN AND PARTS QUALITY. CAR IS AT THE SHOP AS I WRITE THIS. MECH REMOVED SLAVE MASTER LINE ASSEMBLY. IT SEEMED TO BE INFERIOR FOR HEAT AND PRESSURE. MOST WAS PLASTIC AND HELD TOGETHER WITH A PLASTIC CLIP. IF ANY OF THE PLASTIC CRACKS OR FAILS, BREAK FLUID COULD SPRAY ALL OVER YOUR HOT EXHAUST MANIFOLD. SUCH AS IN MY CASE. *TR
RED AIR BAG LIGHT STARTED COMING ON INTERMITTENTLY AND HAS CONTINUED DOING IT FOR THE PAST 6 YEARS. THE PAST 6 MONTHS OR SO IT NOW STAYS ON CONSTANTLY. *TR
MY CAR STARTED HAVING INTERMITTENT LOW BEAM OUTAGES AS I WAS DRIVING. WHEN I SAY INTERMITTENT, I MEAN NOT EVERY TIME I WAS DRIVING WOULD THE LOW BEAMS GO OFF. BUT WHEN THEY DID GO OFF, THEY STAYED OFF UNTIL THE NEXT DAY. LUCKILY MY SIDE LIGHTS AND HIGH BEAMS CONTINUED TO WORK. HOWEVER, WITHIN THE LAST THREE MONTHS, THEY GO OUT PROBABLY 99% OF THE TIME. I RECENTLY GOOGLED THIS PROBLEM AND SAW WHERE I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE HAVING THIS PROBLEM WITH THE 2005 CORVETTE. *TR

SERVICE ACTIVE TRACTION SYSTEM LIGHTS UP AND THE BRAKES ACTIVATE (ONE OR BOTH FRONT WHEELS LOCK UP) AT LOW SPEEDS WHILE BRAKING AND TURNING AT THE SAME TIME. VERY DANGEROUS WHEN TRAFFIC HAS TO GO AROUND YOU AND YOU ARE STRANDED
SERVICE ACTIVE TRACTION CONTROL ALARM APPEARS AFTER ACCELERATING. IT BEGAN WITH ROUGHLY 38,000 MILES AT HIGH SPEEDS (ACCELERATING PAST 90MPH. THEN BEGAN APPEARING AT LESS SPEEDS. NOW APPEARS AT 45MPH. AFTER WARNING APPEARS, THE TRANSMISSION SEAMS TO SLAM WHEN GEAR CHANGES
2005 CORVETTE COUPE WITH THE PAINTED REMOVABLE ROOF PANEL ROOF CAME APART LAST YEAR WAS REPLACED AND REPAINTED WITH COMPLETE REMOVABLE ROOF SECOND ROOF PANEL FLEW COMPLETELY OFF THE CAR THIS MAY NOW THE THIRD ROOF COUNTING THE ORIGINAL IS ON THE CAR. *TR
02/13/2007 2005 CORVETTE CAR WAS COMPLETELY DEAD. WOULD NOT START OR LOCK. LEFT US STRANDED AFTER DINNER. CAR WAS TOWED TO HOME THAT NIGHT AND TOWED TO DEALER ON 02/14/07. 02/14/2007 INVOICE# CVCS117440 #1 CUSTOMER STATES VEHICLE WILL NOT START - BATTERY LEAKING ACID, NECESSARY TO REPLACE BATTERY, CLEAN ACID SPILL. CLEAN CABLES - CHECK ALT 145 AMP OUTPUT DIODES GOOD THE CONSUMER STATED SHE WAS IN AN ACCIDENT AS WELL AS HER SON AND ON BOTH OCCASIONS, WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED, IT FELT AS IF THE BRAKES LOCKED UP. ALSO. THE SERVICE ACTIVE HANDLING SYSTEM LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER HAD TO REWORK THE CONNECTION TO SECURE AND PREVENT THE TILT TELESCOPE STEERING WHEEL FROM PULLING THE VEHICLE TO THE RIGHT. TL*- THE CONTACT STATED THAT ON 01/05/07 SHE GOT INTO THE 2005 CHEVROLET CORVETTE, PUT THE KEY INTO THE IGNITION WHICHWAS LOCATED INSIDE GLOVE BOX, SHE TURNED THE KEY,AND THE DOORS LOCKED AS USUAL. THE VEHICLE DIDN'T START BECAUSE IT SAT FOR SOMETIME WITHOUT BEING DRIVEN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DOORS WOULD NOT UNLOCK. THE BATTERY FAILED. SHE PANICKED, AND COULDN'T GET THE DOORS TO UNLOCK. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE HAD TO GET SOMEONE FROM THE OUTSIDE TO GET THE HOOD OPEN, AND SOMEONE TO GET JUMPER CABLES TO GET THE VEHICLE TO START IN ORDER TO GET THE DOOR LOCKS TO UNLOCK. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 6390, AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 6950.*AK
COLUMN LOCK FAILURE (4 TIMES) . CONVERTIBLE TOP 5+ TIMES RIB IN TOP BROKEN,TOP WILL NOT RAISE OR LOWER OR WILL MOVE AND STOP. PLASTIC INTERIOR PARTS DRY UP AND BREAK VISOR.ALL BEFORE 50K MILES.CAR IS IN THE DEALER SHOP (30+ DAYS AT THIS TIME)
OVER TWO WEEKENDS IN A ROW IN DECEMBER, MY CAR FAILED TO START AFTER SITTING IDLE FOR NO MORE 3 DAYS. I TOOK IT IN TO TWO DIFFERENT DEALERS (ONE FOR EACH EVENT) AND THEY COULDN'T FIND THE PROBLEM. EACH DEALER QUESTIONED IF I HAD PUT IT IN REVERSE AS INSTRUCTED, AND SINCE I'VE HAD THE CAR ALMOST 2.5 YEARS, I TOLD BOTH OF THEM CLEARLY I KNOW THE PROCEDURE TO FOLLOW. *JB

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 09V491000 (STRUCTURE). THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 31,000.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, HE NOTICED THAT THE SERVICE HANDLING SYSTEM AND BRAKE WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED CONTINUOUSLY. IN ADDITION, THE BRAKES ENGAGED INDEPENDENTLY FOR SEVERAL SECONDS. THE FAILURE RECURRED SPORADICALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE BRAKE SENSOR SWITCH WAS REPLACED THREE TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
POTENTIAL LOSS OF COOLANT, ENGINE OVERHEAT, LOSS OF VISIBILITY- INSPECTING UNDER THE HOOD DURING OIL CHANGE, I FOUND THE COOLANT AIR BLEED HOSE RUBBING THROUGH ON THE BOTTOM CORNER OF THE MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR. I TWISTED HOSE AWAY AND PLACED A PLASTIC CONDUIT OVER THE HOSE IN THIS AREA. THIS IS THE SMALL HOSE (8MM ID)LEFT OF THE THROTTLE BODY LEADING FORWARD TO THE COOLANT LINES LEADING TO THE SURGE TANK. HOSE WILL BE REPLACED SOON. *JB
WHEN TURNING LEFT OR RIGHT IN BAD ROAD SURFACE, THE STEERING WHEEL LOSES CONTROL, THE ACTIVE HANDLING LIGHTS COMES ON, AND THE ABS DO NOT WORK TILL THE CAR IS ON SMOOTH ROAD CONDITION. THE CAR HAVE BEEN SERVICE FOR THE ABOVE CONDITIONS IN CHEVROLET DEALER BUT THE PROBLEM REMAINS. *TR

I WAS DRIVING APPROX. 40MPH THEN OUT OF NOWHERE SERVICE ACTIVE HANDLING WAS DISPLAYED A THE CARS BRAKES SEEM TO LOCK UP THE VEHICLE. I WAS EXTREMELY CONCERNED THE CAR FELT AS IF I WAS GOING TO EJECTED OUT OF THE DRIVERS SEAT. I SERIOUSLY THOUGHT I SOILED MY PANTS. MY CAR IS A 2005 CORVETTE Z51 WITH 8000 PAMPERED MILES AUTOMATIC TRANS. THIS IS A VERRRRRY SERIOUS PROBLEM. *TR
ROOF SEPARATION. ROOF WAS REPLACED 3 MONTHS AGO DUE TO DELAMINATION AND THE REPLACEMENT ROOF HAS NOW DELAMINATED. *JB
MY BROTHER SUGGESTED I REPORT THAT THE ENGINE IN MY CAR'S FRONT PULLEY COMES LOOSE AND FALLS OFF CAUSING LOSS OF ELECTRICAL PRODUCTION, A/C, AND WORST OF ALL POWER STEERING--ITS A CORVETTE-DONT KNOW IF IT HAPPENS A LOT TO OTHERS ALSO BUT MAYBE YOU WANT TO LOOK INTO IT-SEEMS TO BE A DANGEROUS SITUATION. *NM
I HAVE A 2005 CORVETTE COUPE. THE TOP IS SEPARATING FROM THE BODY OF THE CAR. THE DEALER REFUSES TO REPLACE THE TOP EVEN THOUGH THE PANEL HAS COMPLETELY SEPARATED FROM THE FRAME AND THE CAR IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE BECAUSE THE REPAIR PERFORMED BY THE DEALER HAS ALREADY FAILED ONCE. THE ONLY SOLUTION IS S NEW TOP, AND THEY REFUSED TO PROVIDE ME WITH ONE. X. *NM
MY 2005 CORVETTE REMOVABLE TOP PANEL IS DELAMINATING. IT COULD FALL OFF AT ANY TIME AT SPEED. GM IS BEING SLOW, AT BEST, IN TAKING CARE OF THIS PROBLEM. *JB
ON 7/12/06 AT APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THE VEHICLE'S PAINTED TOP BECAME DETACHED STRIKING A FOLLOWING VEHICLE CAUSING MINOR DAMAGE TO THE SECOND VEHICLE. BOTH DRIVERS WERE ABLE TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WITH OUT FURTHER INCIDENT AND WITH NO INJURIES. THERE WERE NO WARNING SIGNS OF THE INCIDENT, OTHER THAN THE NOISE MADE AT TIME OF SEPARATION. THE LATCH WAS STILL INTACT. OWNER ALLEGES HAVING NO PRIOR NOTIFICATION OF RECALL 06V-181, AND THAT DEALER HAS YET TO BE ABLE TO REPLACE THE TOP. THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED NEW IN NOVEMBER 2005; RECALL CAMPAIGN INITIATED IN MAY 2006. *NM

THE DEALERSHIP WOULD NOT OFFER A SECOND REPAIR UNDER THE RECALL.

SINCE SHORTLY AFTER THE CAR WAS NEW, I HAVE HAD REPEATED PROBLEMS WITH THE AIRBAG MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHTING UP. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO VARIOUS AUTHORIZED DEALERS NUMEROUS TIMES TO HAVE THE PROBLEM REPAIRED. IN ALL CASES, THE PROBLEM SEEMS TO GET CORRECTED BUT THEN REAPPEARS ANYWHERE FROM SEVERAL WEEKS TO SEVERAL MONTHS LATER. IT'S MY UNDERSTANDING THAT WHEN THE AIRBAG MALFUNCTION INDICATOR IS ILLUMINATED THE AIRBAG SYSTEM IS NON-FUNCTIONAL. *TR

I WENT TO THE DEALER TO COMPLAIN OF WIND NOISE ON MY VEHICLE. THEY TOLD ME I NEEDED A NEW WINDSHIELD. A DAY BEFORE THE PART WAS SCHEDULED TO ARRIVE, WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH THE ROOF PANEL OF MY 2005 CORVETTE SEPARATED AND FLEW OFF. THE PART IS ON NATIONAL BACKORDER, AND GM NEEDS TO "REVIEW" THE CASE WITH "INTERNAL GM PARTIES" BEFORE THEY WILL PROVIDE ME WITH A RENTAL CAR. I HAVE NOT HAD A ROOF FOR 3 WEEKS... NO ETA ON PART... 2005 CORVETTE PART TIME REALTOR, MY HUSBAND AND I WERE RESEARCHING PROPERTY IN PACIFIC PALISADES WHEN AT THE TOP OF THE MOUNTAIN THE WHEELS LOCKED UP AND CAR SLID & SKID, TOOK APPROXIMATELY 15 SECONDS TO COME TO A STOP. PLACED CAR IN PARK & TURNED OFF ENGINE. NO CELL SERVICE TO CALL AAA, WAITED FOR 10 MINS, STARTED CAR & DROVE VERY SLOWLY HOME. TOOK CAR TO DEALER ON 06/12/2006 SERVICE INVOICE# CVCS110532 = WORDING ON THE SERVICE REPORT IS AS FOLLOW: #1 CUSTOMER STATES THAT AFTER BACKING UP THEN GOING FORWARD THE VEHICLE FELT LIKE THE FRONT BRAKES WERE LOCKED UP - REMOVED WHEELS, CALIPERS AND INSPECTED BRAKES, NO PROBLEM DETECTED. #2 CUSTOMER STATES THAT THE ENGINE FEELS LIKE IT HESITATES WHEN ACCELERATING. - CHECK FOR CODES FOUND HISTORY PO300 RANDOM MISFIRE ON 1 & 8 INJ BOTH @ 15 LBS. DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH A NOISE CAME FROM THE ROOF OF THE VEHICLE. UPON INSPECTION THE DEALERSHIP DETERMINED THE ADHESIVE THAT ATTACHED THE ROOF TO THE BODY OF THE VEHICLE DETACHED. THE DEALER REPLACED THE ADHESIVE HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM RETURNED. GM HAS ISSUED A RECALL ON ROOF THAT POTENTIALLY SEPARATES AND COULD CAUSE ACCIDENT; THIS RECALL AFFECTED MY CAR. I SUBMITTED MY CAR FOR INSPECTION IN JUNE 9TH, AND THE DEALER STATED THAT THE ROOF COULD NOT BE REPAIRED - IT HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE ROOF WAS ORDERED AND AFTER A MONTH THE WRONG PART WAS SENT. NOW I AM TOLD THE PART WILL BE AVAILABLE IN 60 TO 90 DAYS; NO PRECISE DELIVERY DATE. IN TOTAL IT COULD BE 90 TO 120 DAYS TOTAL WITH ME OWNING A VEHICLE THAT POTENTIALLY COULD BE A HAZARD, ON TOP OF PRODUCING A VERY ANNOYING CRACKING & POPPING NOISE WHILE DRIVING. GM CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE & DEALERSHIP SAID THEY COULD NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT THE SITUATION. MEANWHILE NOBODY KNOWS HOW SAFE THE CAR IS ON THE ROAD AT HIGHWAY SPEED. *JB
