MY SERVICE ACTIVE HANDLING HAD BEEN COMING ON FOR A COUPLE WEEKS AND THEN WOULD GO AWAY. ABOUT A WEEK AGO I WAS DRIVING AT ABOUT 35 MPH AND I SLOWED DOWN TO TURN. IT WAS ABOUT 10:00 NOT VERY MANY PEOPLE ON THE ROAD "THANK GOD". AFTER TURNING I RETURNED TO AROUND 35MPH AND THEN MY SERVICE ACTIVE HANDLING LIGHT CAME ON FOLLOWED BY FRONT DRIVER SIDE LOCKING UP. I WAS IN THE RIGHT LANE AND ENDED UP ALMOST ON THE CURB ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE LEFT LANE. TW*
SERVICE ACTIVE HANDLING LIGHT COMES ON. GM HAS A TSB ON THE ISSUE BUT IS NOT REPAIRING THE ISSUE AT THEIR EXPENSE. IT IS KNOWN THAT THIS ISSUE LEADS TO WHEELS LOCKING UP RANDOMLY. *TR
SEVERE SWERVE TO THE LEFT FOLLOWED BY SERVICE ACTIVE HANDLING WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. BRAKES LOCK UP DURING SWERVE. SHUTTING DOWN ACTIVE HANDLING DOES NOT HELP AS THE SAME ERROR CAN OCCUR VERY QUICKLY AGAIN. THIS HAPPENS REPEATEDLY, AND MORE SO AT COLDER TEMPERATURES. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET CORVETTE. THE MAIN PULLEY UNDER THE VEHICLE WAS UNSTABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT BECAUSE THERE WERE NO ASSOCIATED RECALLS, HE WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE COST OF THE REPAIR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 37,000.
I HAVE A 2005 CORVETTE. CHEVROLET HAS RECALLED 22,000 CORVETTES FOR THE ROOF PANEL. THEY SAID THAT THE ROOF WILL BREAK LOOSE AND COULD BLOW OFF. MY TOP HAS BROKE LOOSE BECAUSE AIR IS LEAKING THREW. THERE IS SO MUCH AIR COMING IN THAT YOU CAN NOT HERE THE RADIO. I HAVE CALLED THE 800 NUMBER THEY SAID MY CORVETTE MUST NOT BE ON THE LIST. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE MY CORVETTE OVER 50 MPH. CAR SOMETIMES WON'T SHIFT OUT OF PARK EVEN THOUGH THE BRAKE IS PRESSED. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, REPEATED PUMPING OF THE BRAKES AND SHAKING/HITTING ON THE SHIFT LEVER WILL EVENTUALLY CLEAR THE PROBLEM. WHILE TRAVELING AT A SPEED OF APPROXIMATELY 45 MILES PER HOUR ON A TWO-LANE PAVED HIGHWAY, THE CAR VOLUNTARILY LOCKED THE LEFT FRONT BRAKE FOR A PERIOD OF APPROXIMATELY 5 SECONDS. CAR SLID FORWARD (SUPPOSE TO BE TURNING RIGHT) INTO LEFT TRAFFIC LANE. FORTUNATELY THERE WAS NO ONCOMING TRAFFIC AND THEREFORE NO SERIOUS DAMAGE TO VEHICLE. JUST PRIOR TO THIS ACTION, THE CAR DISPLAYED A MESSAGE, "SERVICE ACTIVE HANDLING SYSTEM." *TR
2005 CHEVY CORVETTE, DRIVING IN STRAIGHT LINE AT 5 MPH AND THE RIGHT FRONT TIRE LOCKS UP BECAUSE THE COMPUTER APPLIED THE BRAKES. THE DASH DISPLAY INDICATES "ACTIVE HANDLING". STOPPED CAR. TRIED TO DRIVE AGAIN. FRONT TIRE LOCKS UP AGAIN. TURNED CAR OFF. RESTARTED CAR. NOW IT WORKS FINE, LOCKUP PROBLEM GONE. *TR
I HAVE A 2005 CORVETTE. SOMETIMES, WHEN I AM APPLYING THE BRAKE PEDDLE, IF MY FOOT IS SLANTED SIDEWAYS, THEN I WILL ALSO HIT THE THROTTLE PEDAL ALSO. WHEN IT FIRST HAPPENED, I WOULD PANIC AND PRESS HARDER ON THE BRAKE PEDAL, WHICH ALSO PRESSED HARDER ON THE THROTTLE PEDAL. NOW I KNOW TO SLIDE MY FOOT MORE TO THE LEFT OFF THE GAS. (ENTERED BY SMCH FROM E-MAIL, TRIMMED TO FIT AVAILABLE CONTENT LENGTH) I PURCHASED MY 2005 CORVETTE NEW IN LOS ANGELES FIVE YEARS AGO. HAVE BEEN HAVING THE "SERVICE ACTIVE HANDLING" PROBLEM NOW FOR THE LAST YEAR AND A HALF. AT SPEEDS OF 30MPH OR LESS...THUS FAR SSUDDENLY BRAKES AND PULLS HARD TO THE LEFT WHILE PULSING ON AND OFF THE BRAKES. THIS HAS BEEN VERY SCARY, NEEDLESS TO SAY, AND I HAVE NARROWLY AVOIDED BEING FORCED INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC OR BEING REAR-ENDED BY THE SUDDEN BRAKING. I TOOK MY CAR TO A DEALERSHIP FOR THE FIFTH TIME OVER THIS CONCERN AND HAVE HEARD THE SAME STORY.; THAT THERE IS NO CODE OR RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM. (UPDATE FROM E-MAIL) I HAVE HAD THE REPAIR COMPLETED. I WAS TOLD IT WAS A FAULT IN THE STEERING COLUMN (TELESCOPING) AND WOULD BE FIXED WITH A COUPLE OF ZIP TIES, BUT THE PROCESS REQUIRED A LOT TO BE REMOVED AND WHILE I DID IT I SHOULD REPLACE THE TIRE SENSOR AS WELL, AS THAT COULD BE PART OF THE ISSUE. I HAD THE REPAIR DONE OUT OF FEAR THAT IF I DIDN'T , IT WOULD ENDANGER MY FAMILY. WHEN THE BRAKES SELF APPLIED, THE STEERING WOULD PULL HARD TO THE LEFT. THEY WOULD REMAIN THAT WAY UNTIL I EITHER TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF OR HELD DOWN THE TRACTION CONTROL BUTTON FOR SEVEN SECONDS WHICH TURNS OFF TRACTION CONTROL AND ACTIVE HANDLING. IF THIS WASN'T DONE, AND ANY GAS WAS APPLIED, THE BRAKES WOULD LOCK HARDER, PULSING OFF AND ON INTERMITTENTLY. THE PULL WAS DRASTIC ENOUGH TO HAVE PULLED ABOUT TEN DEGREES OFF OF CENTER-LINE, BUT SINCE IT HAPPENED AT LOW SPEEDS, IT DID NOT CAUSE ANY ACCIDENTS. MY CONCERN WAS, THE FEW TIMES IT HAPPENED WHILE OTHER DRIVERS WERE FOLLOWING... ALMOST HAD SOME REAR END COLLISIONS. THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN FIXED FOR TWO WEEKS NOW, AND HAVE HAD NO SIGN OF IT REPEATING. THE MECHANIC AT THE DEALERSHIP SAID HE'S DONE THREE OR FOUR OF THESE AND HE PUTS IN TWO "ZIP-TIES" TO FIX THE PROBLEM AS HE STATES THE RECOMMENDED ONE IS NOT ENOUGH.

SQUEAKING NOISE FROM ENGINE ACCESSORY DRIVE BELTS, CLUNKING/ KNOCKING NOISE AT LOWER FRONT OF ENGINE. THE CRANK SHIFT BLANCER SPLIT APART MOVING BACK TO THE ENGINE. DAMAGE TO THE TIMING CHAIN COVER AND OIL PAN CAUSING OIL TO LEAK.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET CORVETTE. THE VEHICLE HAS TWO DIFFERENT TRACTION CONTROLS AND ACTIVE HANDLING ON THE BRAKES. THERE WAS A CODE THAT CAME ON FOR THE ACTIVE HANDLING, WHICH CAN APPLY MORE THAN ONE BRAKE SYSTEM TO KEEP THE VEHICLE IN CONTROL. WHILE DECELERATING AT 30 MPH HE FELT THE ACTIVE HANDLING CONTROLS APPLY THE FRONT BRAKES, WHICH PULLED THE VEHICLE TO THE RIGHT. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED, AND THE BRAKES RESET ITSELF. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED, AND HE WAS REFERRED TO A DEALER. TSB # 06-02-35-002B REFERENCES THIS FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 9,638.
ON 10/09/2009 WHILE DRIVING AT 35MPH ON A SINGLE LANE ROAD WITHOUT WARNING THE ACTIVE HANDLING MESSAGE DISPLAYED ON THE DIC OF MY 2005 CHEVROLET CORVETTE CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO VEER OFF THE ROAD. FORTUNATELY I WAS ABLE TO AVOID A COLLISION. THERE WAS NO WARNING AND THE CAR WAS BEING DRIVEN NORMALLY. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED AND I HAVE NOT DRIVEN IT SINCE. *TR
I OWN A 2005 CORVETTE C6 CONVERTIBLE. TODAY, AS I WAS DRIVING INTO WORK THE SERVICE ACTIVE HANDLING SYSTEM LIGHT CAME ON. I LOOKED ON THE INTERNET ABOUT THIS PROBLEM & FOUND THAT THIS CAN POTENTIALLY CAUSE THE BRAKES TO ACTIVATE AT ANY SPEED. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS PROBLEM. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER TO HAVE THIS FIXED BUT HAVE NOT HEARD BACK FROM THEM YET. I DO NOT TRUST THIS CAR AT FREEWAY SPEEDS. *TR
IN REGARDS TO A CURRENT INVESTIGATION CODE EA09-002 WITH THE ODI, WHICH I FOUND ONLINE, I WOULD LIKE TO FILE THE SAME COMPLAINT. TODAY I WAS DRIVING AT AROUND 40 MPH AFTER MAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE SERVICE ACTIVE HANDLING SYSTEM APPEARED AND MY WHEEL PULLED VIOLENTLY TO THE LEFT. IT DID THIS REPEATEDLY UNTIL I LUCKILY WAS ABLE TO STOP THE CAR AND RESTART IT. UPON RESTART THE ACTIVE HANDLING WARNING WAS NO LONGER THERE AND THE CAR WORKED FINE. 2005 CHEVY CORVETTE 24K MILES ON CAR. FOR THE PRICE OF THIS CAR AND THE LOW MILEAGE THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING. I FEAR IF I WAS ON THE FREEWAY THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED A FATAL ACCIDENT. *TR
I HAVE EXPERIENCED SEVERAL BRAKE LOCKUPS AT VERY LOW SPEEDS USUALLY WHILE TRYING TO LEAVE A PARKING SPOT OR OTHER TIMES WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL IS FULLY TURNED TO THE RIGHT OR LEFT. ONCE I START TO MOVE, THE BRAKES ENGAGED AND WILL NOT ALLOW THE CAR TO MOVE AND THE ACTIVE HANDLING INDICATOR COMES ON THE DISPLAY. ALL OF THESE SLOW SPEED ISSUES WERE SIMPLY ?FIXED? BY RESTARTING THE CAR, YESTERDAY I WAS DRIVING AT 60MPH ON A HIGHWAY AND MY BRAKES ENGAGED AND THE CAR JERKED TO THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ROAD AND I FOUGHT TO KEEP IT ON THE ROAD AS THE ACTIVE HANDLING CAME ON AGAIN. THE BRAKES PULSATED UNTIL HE CAR WAS COMPLETELY STOPPED IN THE ROAD. THE WEATHER WAS SUNNY AND 70 DEGREES, THE ROAD WAS A FAIRLY NEW AND SMOOTH ASPHALT. THE CAR TOOK COMPLETE CONTROL AND I WAS IN MEDIUM TRAFFIC. I AM THANKFUL THAT I WAS NOT PULLED TO THE LEFT INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. THE CARS TO THE REAR OF ME HAD NO IDEA THAT I WAS STOPPING AND I WAS ALMOST HIT FROM BEHIND. AFTER THE CAR CAME TO AN ABRUPT STOP IN TRAFFIC ON THE HIGHWAY, I COULD NOT MOVE IT OFF OF THE ROAD AS THE BRAKES WOULD ENGAGE AND "ACTIVE HANDLING" WAS DISPLAYED IF I TRIED TO MOVE IT. I SHUT THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTED IT AND THE PROBLEM SEEMED TO GO AWAY. I PULLED OFF AT THE NEXT STOP AND DISABLED THE ACTIVE HANDLING SYSTEM. *TR
RIGHT FRONT BRAKE APPLIED BY ITS SELF WHEN ENTERING A HIGHWAY TURNING LEFT. DIC THEN DISPLAYED 'SERVICE ACTIVE HANDLING' MESSAGE. THIS MESSAGE HAD OCCURRED MANY TIMES IN AUG. 2008 AND THERE WAS A TSB OUT TO CORRECT IT THAT WAS COMPLIED WITH 8/12/2008. *TR
WHILE SLOWING TO MAKE A LEFT HAND TURN WHEN THE VEHICLE STALLED/STOPPED TEMPORARILY...COULD HAVE CAUSED COLLISION IF THE STALL/STOP HAPPENED A SECOND LATER WHEN I WOULD HAVE BEEN IN THE OPPOSING LAND. EA09-002 SERVICE ACTIVE HANDLING/STABILITY CONTROL WARNING MESSAGE 2005 CORVETTE WITH ELECTRONIC TELESCOPING STEERING COLUMN. MESSAGE HAS DISPLAYED AT LEAST 8 TIMES IN THE LAST 4 MONTHS. LESS THAN 8K MILES TO DATE. *TR
ON 2005/06 CORVETTE THE TELESCOPING STEERING WHEEL SENSOR SHORTS OUT CAUSING THE TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM TO FAIL LOCKING UP THE GEAR SHIFT AND OTHER PROBLEMS. SERVICE BULLETIN 06-02-35-002 EXPLAINS THE CORRECTIVE ACTION AND A PART IF AVAILABLE TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. HOWEVER, IT DOESN'T WORK. SYSTEM STILL FAILS MAKING THE CAR INOPERABLE, AND ALWAYS AT THE MOST IMPORTUNE TIME. ACCORDING TO THE FORUMS, THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM. CHEVROLET NEEDS TO ISSUE A RECALL AND FIX IT PERMANENTLY. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN THE KEYLESS IGNITION WAS TURNED OFF, THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD LOCK WITH THE ILLUMINATION OF THE STEERING WARNING INDICATOR AND WOULD NOT PERMIT THE ENGINE TO BE RESTARTED. THE FAILURE WAS CONSISTENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER NUMEROUS TIMES FOR THE MALFUNCTION. THE BATTERY WAS REPLACED AND THE PROBLEM RECURRED. THERE WAS A RECALL RELATED TO THE DEFECT UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 04V060000 (STEERING:COLUMN LOCKING:ANTI-THEFT DEVICE). THE RECALL PERTAINED TO 1997-2004 MODEL YEAR VEHICLES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 18,000.
BRAKE SHIFT LOCK FAILS TO DISENGAGE AND LEAVES GEAR SHIFT STUCK IN PARK. LEAVES VEHICLE UNABLE TO BE DRIVEN. GM IS AWARE OF THIS WIDE SPREAD PROBLEM BUT HAS DONE NOTHING TO CORRECT IT. CHARGES UNREASONABLE FEES TO FIX BECAUSE THEY WILL ONLY REPLACE ENTIRE SHIFTER ASSEMBLY WHEN PROBLEM IS ONLY A MUCH CHEAPER SOLENOID THAT CAN BE REPLACED BY ITSELF. CAR WILL LEAVE YOU STRANDED WITH NO WARNING. *JS
ACTIVE HANDLING SYSTEM ON A 2005 6-SPEED CHEVY CORVETTE ACTIVATED WHILE DRIVING ~10MPH THROUGH A PARKING LOT AND MAKING A GENTLE RIGHT TURN, SEIZING FRONT LEFT CALIPER UNTIL THE CAR WAS BROUGHT TO A COMPLETE STOP. DISABLING AHS ELIMINATES ISSUE, BUT SYSTEM REACTIVATES EVERY START. HAPPENED AGAIN EXITING A HIGHWAY JUST MINUTES LATER. CAR HAS ~30K MILES, WITH NO ACCIDENTS OR PROBLEMS IN THE PAST. *TR
SEVERAL YEARS INTO OWNERSHIP (I PURCHASED NEW) I NOTICED INTERMITTENT AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT WHILE DRIVING. IT WOULD NOT STAY PERSISTENT. THIS WOULD HAPPEN INFREQUENTLY. SEVERAL YEARS LATER THE AIRBAG LIGHT MORE FREQUENTLY WOULD FLASH BUT NOT STAY PERSISTENT. NOW THE LIGHT IS PERMANENTLY ON. NO ACCIDENTS HAVE TRIGGERED THE AIR BAG LIGHT. NO MODIFICATIONS TO THE AIR BAG SYSTEM HAVE BEEN IMPLEMENTED. NO MODIFICATIONS TO THE SAFETY SYSTEMS AT ALL. EVERY DAY DRIVING AND USE AND FOR NO APPARENT REASON THE AIR BAG SAFETY SYSTEM HAS BEEN RENDERED DISABLED BY THE CARS SYSTEMS. FOR THE 2005-2013 CORVETTES OWNERS BELIEVE THAT ONE OR SEVERAL OF THE FOLLOWING MAY CONTRIBUTE TO THE FAILING AIR BAG SYSTEM: SEAT PRETENSIONER, UNDER SEAT WIRING HARNESS, UNDER SEAT WIRING CONNECTORS, THE POWER SEAT CONTROLS HAVING AN INFLUENCE ON THE FUNCTIONING OF THE AIR BAG SYSTEM. *TR

ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS WHILE DRIVING MY VETTE, I HAVE GOTTEN A 'SERVICE ACTIVE HANDLING SYSTEM' WARNING IN THE DIC. ON SOME OCCASIONS I CAN SIMPLY RESET THE DIC AND THE MESSAGE ENDS. ON AT LEAST ONE OCCASION I HAD TO STOP THE CAR, SHUT DOWN THE ENGINE, AND RESTART AGAIN TO CLEAR THE MESSAGE. I HAVE HAD AT LEAST SEVEN OCCASIONS THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED. ACTIVE HANDLING SYSTEM PRODUCED ERRATIC HANDLING AND NOW I JUST HAD A WARNING THAT THE ACTIVE HANDLING IS RECALIBRATING ITSELF. I DON'T TRUST THE CAR. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET CORVETTE. WHILE PARKED, THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO START THE VEHICLE BUT IT WOULD NOT START. THE CONTACT DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY AND WAS ABLE TO START THE VEHICLE UPON RECONNECTING THE BATTERY. THE FAILURE OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 37,000.
A RECALL EXISTS FOR ALL 05-07 C6 OEM CORVETTE REMOVABLE TARGA TOPS. THE GLUE BOND HOLDING THE REMOVABLE TOP TO ITS FRAME BREAKS WITH TEMPERATURE CHANGES, AND THE TOPS BREAK AWAY AND FLY OFF THE CAR. OVER TIME, AIR AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AIR EVENTUALLY BLOWS UNDER THE TOP AND PULLS IT OFF THE FRAME. AS PART OF THE RECALL REPAIR, GM INJECTED FOAM UNDER THE THIN PLASTIC TOP INTO THE ROOF FRAME TO PREVENT THE AIR FROM ENTERING AND RIPPING THE TOP OFF. THEY DID NOT ADDRESS THE REAL PROBLEM WITH THE GLUE NOT HOLDING THE TOP ON. THEY ONLY ADDRESSED A SYMPTOM OF THE REAL PROBLEM TO AVOID THE COST OF REPLACEMENT. MY TOP HAD MONTHS OF AIR LEAKING UNDER IT, A LOT OF NOISE OVER THAT PERIOD, AND THE FOAM INJECT RECALL HAD BEEN PERFORMED WITH A PREVIOUS OWNER. THEY DID NOT CORRECT THE GLUE PROBLEM AND MEET THE BURDEN OF CORRECTION ACCORDING TO THE RECALL. I WAS ABLE TO GRAB ONTO THE TOP THROUGH MY DRIVERS WINDOW TO HOLD IT DOWN WHEN IT UNEXPECTEDLY STARTED TO RIP OFF, OR IT WOULD HAVE HIT TRAFFIC BEHIND ME, AND CAUSED WRECK(S). RIGHT FRONT WHEEL LOCKED UP. AFTER A FEW SECONDS, THE BRAKE RELEASED, DROVE APPROXIMATELY 20 FEET, PROBLEM HAPPENED AGAIN. SHUT CAR OFF, RESTARTED IT, APPEARED OK. LUCKILY, I WAS ONLY GOING ABOUT 25 MPH. TOOK CAR TO LOCAL DEALER IN FL. THIS DEALER REPLACED THE STEERING WHEEL POSITION SENSOR. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET CORVETTE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ELECTRIC STABILITY CONTROL WAS DEFECTIVE AND THE ACTIVE HANDLING ENGAGES AUTOMATICALLY AT DIFFERENT SPEEDS. WHEN MANUALLY DISENGAGED, IT WILL AUTOMATICALLY RE-ENGAGE IF IT SENSES A CRASH. WHEN A CRASH IS DETECTED, THE BRAKES LOCK AND THE STEERING TURNS. PRIOR TO THE FAILURE, A WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATES FOR THE MANUAL ACTIVE CONTROL. THE FAILURE OCCURS AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. THE DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE; HOWEVER, THEY REPLACED THE SENSORS AND STATED THAT MORE COULD BE DONE. NO WORK WAS PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
MY ACTIVE HANDLING ACTIVATES ALMOST WEEKLY AT LOWER SPEEDS WHILE TURNING, EVEN WITH THE TRACTION CONTROL OFF. THE PROBLEM IS IT LOCKS UP THE FRONT BRAKES AND I CAN NOT TURN OR MOVE THE VEHICLE!! WHILE THIS MAY NOT SOUND TOO SERIOUS AT LOW SPEEDS, IMAGINE PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC AND THE BRAKES LOCK UP ON YOUR CAR. IT OCCURS PULLING ONTO GRASS OR LOOSE GRAVEL ALSO, ESPECIALLY IN TURNS. I HAVE TO TURN THE CAR OFF AND RESTART IT FOR IT TO MOVE AGAIN. THE ACTIVE HANDLING LIGHT COMES ON BUT WILL GO AWAY WHEN RESTARTED. THE PROBLEM FIRST OCCURRED LAST FALL AND I FINALLY ADDRESSED IT WITH THE LOCAL GM SHOP WITH TSB 06-02-35-0002B ON 1/2/09 ($88.15 SERVICE), WHICH ADDED A CLIP TO THE SWPC CONNECTOR. THERE IS A DANGEROUS PROBLEM WITH MY CORVETTE THAT I BELIEVE IS TIED TO FAULTS IN THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM. I WAS DRIVING ON A FREEWAY FOLLOWING A LEFT CURVE WHEN I FELT THE BRAKES GRAB. I SAW "ACTIVE HANDLING" DISPLAYED; HOWEVER, THERE WAS NO REASON FOR ACTIVE HANDLING TO OCCUR (ROADWAY WAS DRY, WAS DRIVING AT POSTED SPEED LIMIT, WAS NOT MAKING A SUDDEN TURNING MANEUVER). LATER I SAW THAT THE CAR WAS DISPLAYING A FRONT RIGHT TIRE PRESSURE OF 0 PSI, BUT NO OTHER WARNINGS OCCURRED (TYPICALLY, A YELLOW WARNING LIGHT GOES ON AN CAR DISPLAYS A LOW TIRE PRESSURE OR RIGHT FRONT TIRE FLAT WARNING WHEN THIS OCCURS). I'VE HAD ONGOING PROBLEMS WITH THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM AND CHEVY HAS ATTEMPTED REPAIR ONCE. USUALLY ONE OF THE FRONT TIRES WILL READ ZERO PSI AND THE AFOREMENTIONED WARNINGS WILL APPEAR, AND THE CAR'S ACTIVE HANDLING SYSTEM WILL ENGAGE MORE EASILY, THEN A FEW MINUTES LATER, THE CAR WILL DISPLAY NORMAL TIRE PRESSURES AGAIN. IN THE INCIDENT I'M DESCRIBING HERE, THERE WAS NO WARNING THAT THE TIRE PRESSURE WAS BEING READ AT ZERO, AND NO INDICATION THAT ACTIVE HANDLING WOULD ENGAGE SO EASILY. THIS SCENARIO NOW REPEATS EVERY TIME I DRIVE THE CAR AT NIGHT. THE LOW BEAM LIGHTS TURN ON NORMALLY, BUT TURN OFF AFTER ABOUT 30 MINUTES. I MUST THEN EITHER USE THE DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS OR THE HIGH BEAMS. SINCE THEY WORK NORMALLY WHEN THE CAR IS COLD, THE ISSUE SEEMS TO OFFER WHEN EVER THE CAR ACHIEVES NORMAL OPERATING TEMPERATURE. WHILE DRIVING AT 68 MPH ON A TWO HIGHWAY, THE ROOF SECTION FROM A 2005 CHEVROLET CORVETTE SEPARATED FROM THE VEHICLE AND WENT AIRBORNE.
