HEADLIGHTS TURN OFF FOR NO REASON AND WILL NOT TURN ON TILL THE CAR IS STONE COLD VERY DANGEROUS. *JS
WHILE DRIVING DURING THE EVENING AROUND 9 PM ENTERING A SHARP CURVE MY LIGHTS WENT OUT AND CAUSING THE CAR TO DIP OFF THE ROAD. THE CIRCUMSTANCES COULD HAVE BEEN WORSE HAD IT BE IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION WITH ONCOMING TRAFFIC. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS ISSUE I CAN'T UNDERSTAND WHY THIS ISN'T A RECALL. A CAR'S LIGHTS TURNING OFF IN THE NIGHT HOW MUCH MORE DANGEROUS DOES THIS NEED TO BE? NOT ONLY IS THE DRIVER OF THE VEHICLE AT RISK BUT OTHER MOTORIST AS WELL. CONSIDERING THE AMOUNT OF TIME THIS HAS BEEN REPORTED THIS WILL CERTAINLY HAVE A MEDIA STORM ATTACHED TO IT IF UNFORTUNATELY IT RESULTS IN AN ACCIDENT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET CORVETTE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE HEADLIGHTS FAILED. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 95,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET CORVETTE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FUEL SYSTEM SERVICE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED WHEN THE FUEL TANK WAS LESS THAN HALF A TANK FULL. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT WOULD ALSO ILLUMINATE AND THEN THE FUEL TANK GAUGE WOULD INDICATE NO FUEL. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. AFTER STARTING CAR, TRANSMISSION WILL NOT SHIFT OUT OF PARK. REPEATED ATTEMPTS TO PRESS BRAKE LEVER AND TO SHIFT FROM PARK, FINALLY WORKS. PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT AND IT WAS REPORTED TO THE DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT. *TR

VEHICLE TURNS OVER BUT WILL NOT START FUEL PUMP RELAY WAS CHANGED AND IT STARTED BUT THEN A WEEK LATER SAME THING HAPPENED I SWITCHED FUEL PUMP RELAY SEVERAL TIMES AND STIIL DID NOT START, FINALLY STARTING AFTER REAPEATED ATTEMPS AND SWITHING RELAYS. I THINK THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE CONTACTS ON THE RELAY BOX. THIS HAS AND CONTINUES TO HAPPEN SINCE STATED DATE. *TR
VEHICLE WILL NOT SHIFT OUT OF PARK, INTERMITTENTLY, BUT CONSISTENTLY. NUMEROUS FIXES HAVE BEEN ATTEMPTED, SEVERAL DEALERSHIPS NOTIFIED, BUT THEY SEEM TO THINK IT IS NORMAL. USING "ALTERNATIVE METHODS" TO SHIFT FROM PARK TO DRIVE DO NOT SEEM APPROPRIATE OR SAFE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET CORVETTE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED, BUT AFTER DRIVING TWO MILES THE SERVICE TRACTION SYSTEM AND REDUCE POWER WARNING MESSAGES ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE LOST ALL POWER AND STALLED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD RESTART AFTER TEN MINUTES. THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 10,500. *TR
LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT STOP WORKING AFTER CARS ENGINE COMES TO RUNNING TEMPERATURE. I HAVE SPENT MANY WEEKS LOOKING ONLINE AND SPEAKING WITH OTHER OWNERS AND THE INFORMATION COMING BACK IS CONSISTENT. FUSE BOX UNDER THE HOOD IS FAULTY AND WILL REQUIRE REPLACEMENT. NO RUNNING HEADLIGHTS IS A VERY SERIOUS VAULT IN MY BOOK AND THOUGHT I SHOULD REPORT THE ISSUE. I CONTACTED GM AND THEY WERE OF VERY LITTLE HELP. I AM STILL TRYING TO WORK WITH THEM IN REGARDS TO RESOLVING THE THIS MATTER. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THE DEALER INFORMED HIM OF RECALL NOTICE NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 10V172000 (STEERING) BUT STATED HIS VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 12,000.
DRIVING AT 1-35 MPH ENGINE AND ELECTRICAL WILL SHUT OFF, ALL LIGHTS AND ENGINE SHUTS OFF. PUT CAR IN PARK, ENGINE STARTS RIGHT AWAY. IN 2014 GM RECALL OF 2005 COBALT AND PONTIAC FOR SAME PROBLEM, IT WAS SAID THAT SIX PEOPLE DIED. I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. THIS ALMOST HAPPENED TO ME. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE THE CAR. CALLED GM AND TALKED TO A SPECIALIST NAMED SCOTT AT 1-866-790-5600 EXT. 31087 . I WAS ASKED TO TAKE THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP, SO THEY WILL LOOK AT IT FOR THE 3RD TIME. I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY SERVICE HANDLING TRACTION SYSTEM LIGHT CAME ON AND CAR WENT TO RIGHT AND L RAN IN A DITCH 11000 DOLLARS IN DAMAGE AND NOT ONE AIR OPEN. *TR
I WAS DRIVING AT NIGHT THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN MY LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS BOTH SHUT OFF AT THE SAME TIME. MY FOG LIGHTS AND HIGH BEAMS STILL WORKED. GLADLY THERE WAS NO ONE AROUND, BUT THIS WAS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. I HEADED HOME IMMEDIATELY INTERMITTENTLY PUTTING MY HIGH BEAMS ON. SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET INJURED IN THE FUTURE IF THIS IS NOT ADDRESSED BY GM. *TR
I HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS SEVERAL TIMES WITH NO LUCK. THE C6 CORVETTE WAS PRODUCED FROM LATE 2004 UNTIL EARLY 2013 AND APPROXIMATELY 215,000 WERE PRODUCED. THE CHECK AIR BAG LIGHT HAS BEEN A PROBLEM FROM DAY ONE. MANY OWNERS HAVE HAD OR HAVE THE PROBLEM. MANY DEALERS SAY THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO ABOUT IT. IN MY CASE I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER NUMEROUS TIMES AND WAS TOLD IF THE LIGHT WASN'T ON WHEN I TOOK IT IN THEY COULDN'T HELP ME. FINALLY AFTER MY THEE YEARS WARRANTY WAS UP THEY WERE ABLE TO GET A CODE. A PRE-TENSIONER WAS REPLACED AND ALL WAS WELL FOR SEVERAL MONTHS. BY THIS TIME MEMBERS OF THE CORVETTE FORUM DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS DEFECTIVE CONNECTORS UNDER THE SEAT. AS THE SEAT MOVED IN AND OUT THEY WOULD COME LOOSE. I CAME UP WITH A PLAN TO ZIP TIE THE CONNECTORS. MANY MEMBERS USED MY METHOD AND WERE HAPPY. AFTER SEVERAL YEARS I HAD TO REDO MINE WITH HEAVER ZIP TIES BECAUSE THE CHECK AIR BAG LIGHT CAME BACK. MANY MEMBERS STILL HAVE THE PROBLEM AS DO MANY OTHERS. DO A GOOGLE SEARCH AND YOU WILL SEE WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT. WHEN WILL SOMEONE BE SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED? I SEE MANY OTHER AUTOS HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR THE SAME ISSUE. PROBABLY BECAUSE THEY ARE HIGHER PRODUCTION AUTOS. I HOPE SOMETHING CAN BE DONE ABOUT THIS BEFORE SOMETHING SERIOUS HAPPENS. *TR
LOW BEAM LIGHTS FAILURE AFTER 15 MINUTES DRIVING AT NIGHT. TOOK A BUMP AND THE WENT ON AGAIN AND THEN OFF. LIGHTS WORKED AFTER VEHICLE WAS COLD. HIGH BEAM AND ALL OTHER LIGHTS WORK WITH NO PROBLEMS. IT HAPPENS EVERY DAY. I STOPPED USING CAR AT NIGHTS. *TR
AFTER TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 100 MILES, WE ENTERED THE TUNNEL FROM THE YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK ENTRANCE TO THE VALLEY FLOOR, THE HEADLIGHTS FAILED TO COME ON FROM THE AUTOMATIC SETTING EVEN THOUGH THE HEADLIGHT ICON ILLUMINATED ON THE DASH BOARD. AFTER SOME CONFUSION, THE FOG LIGHTS WERE TURNED ON. THE INITIAL TUNNEL ENTRANCE FROM FULL DAYLIGHT TO DARKNESS WAS PROBLEMATIC FOR ASCERTAINING THE SIDES OF THE ROADWAY. HIGH BEAMS WERE NOT ADVISABLE DUE TO THE POTENTIAL FOR BLINDING THE ONCOMING TRAFFIC. THE AUTOMATIC SYSTEMS ARE STRONGLY SAFETY ORIENTED DUE TO THE DRIVER DEPENDENCE AND CONFIDENCE IN THE SYSTEMS. THE COMPLETE AND RANDOM FAILURE OF THE SYSTEM AND RESULTANT FAILURE OF BOTH HEADLIGHTS AS OPPOSED TO A SINGLE FAILURE EXPECTED OF A MANUAL SYSTEM PUTS THE DRIVER AND ADJACENT TRAVELERS IN A DANGEROUS AND UNEXPECTED SITUATION. A SECOND FAILURE WAS EXPERIENCED ABOUT ONE WEEK LATER ON EXITING FROM A WELL LIGHT PARKING AREA ONTO AN URBAN ROADWAY. AGAIN THE FAILURE WAS NOT IMMEDIATELY PERCEIVED DUE TO THE ILLUMINATION OF THE DASHBOARD ICON INDICATING THAT THE LIGHTS WERE ILLUMINATED. THE LIGHTS OF THE ADJACENT HEAVY TRAFFIC MINIMIZED THE ABILITY TO PERCEIVE THE LIGHTING FAILURE BUT CLEARLY THE ADJACENT DRIVERS PERCEPTION OF THE APPROACHING CAR WAS AFFECTED. ONCE AGAIN, THE REMEDIAL ACTION WAS TO ILLUMINATE THE FOG LIGHTS AFTER CYCLING THE MANUAL CONTROL TO NO EFFECT. THE NEXT MORNING, THE SYSTEM WAS PERFORMING NORMALLY. RANDOM FAILURES HAVE A MUCH STRONGER SAFETY IMPACT DUE TO THE UNEXPECTED NATURE OF THE FAILURE. A TRIVIAL INVESTIGATION ON THE INTERNET REVEALED THAT THIS FAILURE HAS BEEN REPORTED BOTH TO THE NHTSA AND THE MANUFACTURER, CHEVROLET, TO NO EFFECT. FAILURE HAS BEEN ATTRIBUTED TO A FUSE BLOCK. THE FAILURE THEN APPEARS TO BE A DESIGN FLAW IN THE PACKAGING OF THE FUSE BLOCK. *TR
AT APPROXIMATELY 30MPH THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS WENT OUT IN AUTO MODE. I IMMEDIATELY TRIED TO GO TO MANUAL MODE BUT THEY WERE STILL OUT. I PULLED OVER AT AN AUTO PARTS STORE, CHECKED FUSES (ALL FINE) AND FINALLY HAD TO RESORT TO USING FOG LIGHTS. THE NEXT MORNING I TOOK IT TO A REPAIR SHOP, WHERE THEY WERE FOUND TO BE WORKING FINE. THEY FOUND NO ISSUE. ABOUT A WEEK LATER I WAS DRIVING ON THE 405 FREEWAY WHEN THEY WENT OUT AGAIN. I AGAIN USED THE FOG LIGHTS. I WAS PARKED FOR ABOUT 2 HOURS AND WHEN I GOT BACK IN THE CAR THE LOW BEAMS WORKED AGAIN. AFTER ABOUT 20 MINUTES OF DRIVING, HOWEVER, THEY WENT OUT AGAIN. AFTER USING THE FOGS TO GET HOME, THE LOW BEAMS HAVE BEEN WORKING FOR THE PAST COUPLE OF DAYS BUT I'M SURE IT WILL KEEP HAPPENING. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE FUSE BOX NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 80,000.
DRIVING AT NIGHT, LOW BEAMS SUDDENLY SHUT OFF (BOTH SIDES). PULLED OVER AND TRIED TOGGLING THE LIGHT SWITCH THROUGH VARIAOUS SETTINGS. DRIVING LIGHTS WOULD TURN ON AND OFF, BUT LOW BEAMS WOULD NOT. HIGH BEAMS WORKED, SO DROVE HOME WITH HIHG BEAMS. NEXT NIGHT, LOW BEAMS WORKED AGAIN BUT TURNED OFF AFTER 10 MINUTES. APPEARS AFTER CAR WARMS UP, LOW BEAMS SWITCH OFF. NOW CAN ONLY DRIVE AT NIGHT USING HIGH BEAMS OR DRIVING LIGHTS AFTER LOW BEAMS SWITCH OFF. *TR
WHILE DRIVING SLOWLY INTO THE ENTRANCE ROAD OF MY APARTMENT COMPLEX, THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS WENT OUT. OTHER LIGHTS CONTINUED TO WORK. THE DASH INDICATOR THAT LIGHTS WERE WORKING REMAINED ON. THE LIGHTS WORKED PROPERLY ON THE FOLLOWING DAY, HOWEVER, THEY DID NOT WORK THE DAY AFTER LATE. THE NEXT DAY, THE LOW BEAM LIGHTS WORKED PERFECTLY AND HAVE CONTINUED TO FUNCTION PROPERLY SINCE. *TR
THIS IS A RECURRING BUT INTERMITTENT PROBLEM WITH THE EXACT SAME SYMPTOMS AS DESCRIBED FOR NON-CORVETTE GM MODELS IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V252000 "THE BRAKE LIGHTS TO ILLUMINATE WITHOUT THE BRAKE PEDAL BEING PUSHED; THE BRAKE LIGHTS TO NOT ILLUMINATE WHEN THE PEDAL IS PUSHED; DIFFICULTY DISENGAGING THE CRUISE CONTROL; MOVING THE GEAR SHIFTER OUT OF THE 'PARK' POSITION WITHOUT PUSHING THE BRAKE; AND DISABLEMENT OF CRASH AVOIDANCE FEATURES SUCH AS TRACTION CONTROL, ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL, AND PANIC BRAKING ASSIST FEATURES." I HAVE NOTICED THAT THE PROBLEM OFTEN INITIATES WHEN DRIVING OVER A BUMP, SUGGESTING AN INTERMITTENT OPEN OR SHORT WIRING ISSUE. THEN LATER THINGS WILL RETURN TO NORMAL FOR DAYS OR WEEKS. CHEVY DEALER FIRST RECALIBRATED THE "BRAKE PEDAL POSITION SENSOR" THEN LATER REPLACED AND RECALIBRATED IT; BOTH NON-WARRANTY REPAIRS. THE PROBLEM CONTINUES WITH THE NEXT RECOMMENDED ACTION TO REPLACE THE BCM AT $700+ COST. *TR
AUTOMATIC SHIFTER GETS STUCK IN PARK. FOLLOWING THE MANUAL PROCEDURE DOES NOT HELP. PUSHING RELEASE BUTTON DOES NOT HELP, PUSHING SHIFTER FORWARD DOES NOT HELP. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 25 TO 30 TIMES. DEALER SAYS REPLACE SHIFTER TO FIX. WHAT'S TO STOP THIS FROM RECURRING? THIS APPEARS TO BE A SAFETY PROBLEM. *TR
LOW BEAM LIGHTS STOP WORKING WHILE DRIVING, LEAVING ONLY THE PARKING LIGHTS ON UNLESS YOU HAVE THE HIGH BEAMS ON. LOW BEAMS WILL COME BACK ON BRIEFLY AFTER TURNING THE ENGINE OFF & LOCKING THE CAR. THEN PUSHING THE UNLOCK BUTTON ON THE FOB WILL CAUSE THE LOW BEAMS TO WORK BUT ONLY UNTIL THE TIMER EXPIRES NO MATTER IF THE SWITCH IS IN AUTO OR ON POSITION. THIS PROVES THE BULBS ARE STILL FUNCTIONAL & IT HAS AN ELECTRONIC DEFECT. *TR

ALSO, THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG WARNING LAMP ILLUMINATED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN PERFORMED THE REPAIRS FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 10V172000 (STEERING). THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
I READ THAT YOU ARE INVESTIGATING THE HEADLIGHTS INTERMITTENTLY GOING OUT ON 2005-2007 CORVETTES. THIS HAPPENED TO ME 3 TIMES, ONCE WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 10PM AT NIGHT. THAT WAS THE LAST STRAW AND I BROUGHT IT IN TO GET REPAIR ABOUT 4 WEEKS AGO AT A CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP. THE COST WAS $680 TO REPAIR. HOPEFULLY THIS GETS A RECALL BECAUSE IT WAS VERY DANGEROUS HAVING THE LIGHTS GO OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. UNABLE TO GET THE AUTOMATIC TRANNY SHIFTER OUT OF PARK SOMETIMES. *JS
TURN SIGNAL INDICATOR BEGAN FLASHING RAPIDLY TO INDICATE THE TURN SIGNAL WAS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. THE FRONT TURN SIGNAL WAS NOT WORKING. THE TURN SIGNAL BULB MELTED THE INTERNAL SOCKET SO THE INTERNAL HARNESS SYSTEM NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. CHEVROLET NEEDS TO ISSUE A RECALL TO CHANGE THE SPECIFICATIONS USED FOR THE TURN SIGNAL LIGHT BULB SO THEY DO NOT MELT AND RUIN THE SYSTEM. *TR

DURING FREEWAY TRAVEL THE VEHICLES "SERVICE ACTIVE HANDLING" MESSAGE APPEARED AND THE VEHICLE BRAKES SEIZED AND PULLED TO THE LEFT CAUSING ME TO ALMOST HIT A CONCRETE BARRIER. THE DEALERSHIP CLAIMS THAT THE RECALL WAS PERFORMED BUT THE CAR STILL HAS THIS VERY DANGEROUS CONDITION. *TR

INTERMITTENT PROBLEM WITH THE COLUMN LOCK. THE LOCK WILL NOT REGISTER AS DISENGAGED AND WILL NOT ALLOW THE ENGINE TO START. THE ONLY THING THAT WILL RECTIFY IT IS PULLING A BATTERY CABLE FOR SEVER SECONDS AND REATTACHING IT. THIS RESETS THE LOCK AND ALLOWS THE ENGINE TO START. THE PROBLEM OCCURS REGULARLY (APPROX 2 TO 3 WEEKS). *TR

MY 2005 C6 CORVETTE SHIFTER IS INTERMITTENTLY STUCK IN PARK, UNABLE TO BE MOVED FROM PARK. IT HAPPENS AT THE MOST INOPPORTUNE TIMES AND I AM FEARFUL IT WILL LEAVE ME STRANDED NECESSITATING A TOW TO THE DEALER. SO FAR I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO MOVE THE SHIFTER FROM PARK AFTER 10-15 MINUTES OF "PLAYING WITH THE SHIFTER". THIS HAPPENS 3-4 TIMES PER WEEK, INTERMITTENTLY. *TR
ROOF LAMINATE WAS REPLACED AS PART OF A MANUFACTURER RECALL A FEW YEARS AGO. BUT CRACKING NOISE CONTINUED UNTIL TODAY AFTER A LOUD KNOCK, THE DRIVER SIDE OF THE ROOF STARTED LEAKING AIR BADLY. PULLED OVER AND NOTICED THE ROOF BODY AND NOT JUST THE LAMINATE HAD SEPARATED FROM ITS FRAME. OPENED ROOF LATCHES AND WHILE REMOVING THE DETACHABLE ROOF, BOTH REAR METAL PINS THAT MECHANICALLY HOLD THE ROOF TO THE FRAME FELL TO THE GROUND. THREADED SECTION OF BOTH PINS HAD SHEARED OFF AND ROOF WAS ONLY HELD IN PLACE BY THE REAR CENTER HOOK. APPARENTLY MATERIAL AND PIN DESIGN IS NOT APPROPRIATE FOR THE TORQUE THAT THE ROOF GOES THROUGH AGAINST THE FRAME DURING NORMAL DRIVING RESULTING IN COMPLETE SEPARATION OF THE ROOF. *TR
BOTH LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS WILL SUDDENLY TURN OFF DURING OPERATION. THE ISSUE APPEARS TO CORRELATE TO ENGINE TEMPERATURE. WHEN THE ENGINE IS COLD AND/OR FIRST STARTS THE HEADLIGHTS FUNCTION CORRECTLY EVEN IN THE AUTOMATIC SETTING. BUT, WHEN THE ENGINE REACHES OPERATING TEMPERATURE THE LIGHTS GO OUT AND WILL NOT COME ON AGAIN UNTIL THE ENGINE HAS COOLED. SHUTTING OFF THE ENGINE AND RESTARTING DOES NOT RESET THE LIGHTS. IT HAS ALSO HAPPENED THAT THE LIGHTS MAY BE ON BUT AFTER DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND STOPPING THE ENGINE THE LIGHTS WILL NOT COME BACK ON WHEN RESTARTED. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO THE VAN CHEVROLET IN CARROLLTON TEXAS AND THEY SAY THEY CAN NOT CORRECT OR EVEN DUPLICATE THE ISSUE. *TR
UPON TAKING MY CAR IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE IT WAS DISCOVERED BY THE TECHNICIAN THAT THE BOLT HOLDING THE HARMONIC BALANCER IN PLACE HAD BACKED ITSELF OUT. THIS ALLOWED THE HARMONIC BALANCER TO DO EXCESSIVE DAMAGE TO SEVERAL ENGINE COMPONENTS INCLUDING THE OIL PAN. ACCORDING TO TECHNICIAN FIRE COULD HAVE ENSUED OR CAR COULD'VE SUFFERED A SEVERE LOSS OF TRACTION FROM THE SUBSTANTIAL OIL LEAK. GENERAL MOTORS HAS ISSUED A "TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN" OUTLINING REPAIR PROCEDURES TO BE PERFORMED AT A LOCAL DEALERSHIP AT NO COST TO CUSTOMERS WITH CARS IN A SPECIFIC VIN SERIES. AFTER LOOKING UP THE TSB MY CAR IS NOT IN SAID VIN SERIES EVEN THOUGH PROBLEM IS EXACTLY AS DESCRIBED IN TSB. *TR

HEADS UP DISPLAY KEEPS FALLING FROM ITS SET POSITION. I HAVE ALMOST BEEN IN MANY REAR END COLLISION TRYING TO RESET MY HEADS UP DISPLAY. NOW I DON'T EVEN USE THE HEADS UP DISPLAY SINCE IT IS SUCH A PIECE OF JUNK. I BELONG TO CORVETTE FORUM AND HAVE HERD FROM DOZENS OF CORVETTE OWNERS WHO ARE HAVING THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. THESE HEADS UP DISPLAYS SHOULD BE RECALLED DUE TO POOR DESIGN, POOR MATERIALS DURING MANUFACTURING AND CHEAP MANUFACTURING. THE PROBLEM IS THE MIRROR ASSEMBLY IS BEING HINGED FROM TWO PLASTIC PINS ON EACH END OF THE ASSEMBLY. BASED OF THE SIZE AND WAIT OF THE MIRROR THESE PINS SHOULD BE MADE FROM SOME KIND OF METAL MATERIAL. THIS ISSUE IS BEING EXACERBATED BY THE STIFF RIDE OF THE CORVETTE AS YOU DRIVE THE MIRROR IS BEING BOUNCED AROUND AND IS WEARING DOWN THE PINS HOLDING THE MIRROR. *TR
