MY SERVICE COLUMN LOCK (MANUAL TRANSMISSION) CAME ON IN MY DIC AND I COULD NOT START MY CAR I FEEL THIS PROBLEM SHOULD BE ON THE RECALL LIST I HAVE CHECK ON CORVETTE FORUM AND MANY PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WE SHOULD HAVE TO PAY TO GET THIS FIX. CORVETTE SHOULD COME UP WITH SOMETHING TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET CORVETTE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO SHIFT FROM PARK INTO DRIVE. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 12,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 14,000. HEADLAMPS QUIT WORKING WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT. BOTH HEADLAMPS DID NOT TURN ON AND I HAD TO DRIVE WITH THE FOG LIGHTS. I CHECKED THE RELAY AND FUSES WHICH WERE ALL OKAY. THIS MORNING, THEY DID WORK. I'VE RESEARCHED OTHER OWNER FORUMS OF WHICH THIS INCIDENT HAS HAPPENED FROM A BAD GROUND FROM AN OVERHEATED FUSE BOX IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT, WITH OWNERS DRIVING AT NIGHT AND DRIVING LIGHTS GOING OUT INEXPLICABLY, WHICH COULD LEAD TO SERIOUS INJURY. *TR
MY HEADLIGHTS STOPPED WORKING. THE LIGHT BULBS ARE FINE AND WILL WORK IN THE MORNING AND IT SEEMS THAT IT IS A DEFECT WITH THE FUSE BOX. IN THE MORNING WHEN THE FUSE BOX IS COLD THE LIGHTS WILL TURN ON. AFTERNOON AND EVENING THEY FAIL DUE TO TEMPERATURE CHANGE. THE FUSE BOX NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. *TR
WHILE TURNING IN A CORNER ON THE HIGHWAY, I LOST POWER STEERING AND I HAD SMOKE AND DEBRIS FLYING OUT OF THE BACK OF THE CAR. LUCKILY THERE WAS NOBODY NEAR ME, AND I MANAGED TO STEER OFF THE ROAD SAFELY. LOOKED IN THE ENGINE AND THE ACCESSORY BELT WAS SHREDDED, WHICH ALSO DESTROYED THE HEAT SHIELD MATERIAL ON THE INSIDE OF THE HOOD. GOT A FRIEND TO PICK ME UP AND WE INSTALLED A NEW BELT. DROVE 0.5 MILES AND THE BELT FLEW COMPLETELY OFF THIS TIME. POWER STEERING COMPLETELY DIED, AND I COULD BARELY TURN THE WHEEL WHILE BEING TAILGATED BY CARS. COOLING SYSTEM FAILED, COOLANT FLYING ALL OVER THE ENGINE BAY, UNDER THE CAR, AND ON THE HIGHWAY. I'M GLAD I WASN'T KILLED. CHECKED ALL THE PULLEYS AND FOUND THAT THE CRANKSHAFT PULLEY BOLT HAD BACKED OUT, WHICH I LATER FOUND OUT CAUSED WOBBLE ON THE BELT AND LED THE ENGINE/CAR TO FAIL. GOT A TOW TO THE NEAREST GM DEALER. THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ON INTERNET CORVETTE FORUMS, AND GM IS AWARE OF THE ISSUE (TSB #05-06-01-001A). IT SEEMS LIKE CRASHING AND CAUSING ACCIDENTS WOULD WARRANT A RECALL. *TR
LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS WILL GO OUT AFTER ABOUT 15 MINUTES OF OPERATION. VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE TO OPERATE WHEN HEADLIGHTS ARE NEEDED. LIGHTS WILL NOT COME BACK ON. NIGHT DRIVING REQUIRES HI BEAM (NOT SAFE). *TR
THE AIR BAG LIGHT IS LIT SOLID WHEN THE CAR IS ON AND WILL NOT SHUT OFF. THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH EARLY MODEL YEAR C6 CORVETTES (2005 - 2007) AND GM HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL ON IT. THERE ARE MANY MEMBERS ON THE CORVETTE FORUM WEBSITE AT HTTP://WWW.CORVETTEFORUM.COM/ WHO HAVE THE SAME EXACT ISSUES. GM HAS ISSUED MANY RECALLS IN THE PAST MONTH REGARDING LIT AIR BAG LIGHTS ON OTHER CARS. WHY HAS THE CORVETTE BEEN EXCLUDED? IT IS A BIG SAFETY ISSUE IF THE AIR BAG DOES NOT DEPLOY IN AN ACCIDENT. I WENT TO CRANE CHEVROLET IN NJ WITH THE AFTERMARKET WARRANTY THAT I BOUGHT WITH MY CAR FOR $2200 AND THEY REFUSED TO HONOR IT. AND THE DEALERSHIP WANTS $100 JUST TO RUN A SCAN TO SEE WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. THEN IT CAN BE ANYWHERE FROM A FEW HUNDRED TO ALMOST A THOUSAND DOLLARS TO FIX DEPENDING ON WHAT PART OF THE AIR BAG SYSTEM IT IS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET CORVETTE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE SERVICE ACTIVE HANDLING SYSTEM WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE VEERED TO THE RIGHT. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 10V172000 (STEERING). THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
AIR BAG LIGHT ON THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER LIT UP AND WILL NOT GO AWAY. I READ ABOUT THIS ISSUE FROM 100S OF PEOPLE ON THE CORVETTE FORUMS, SO IT IS A MAJOR PROBLEM. *TR
SERVICE STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM LLIGHTS CAME ON AND OFF MULTIPLE TIMES, WHEN I GOT HOME THE BRAKES WERE COMPLETELY LOCKED UP. I HAVE REBUILT THE BRAKING SYSTEM, CALIPERS, ROTORS AND PADS AND RE BLED THE SYSTEM AND CANNOT MOVE THE CAR. KEEP GETTING MESSAGE TO SERVIVCE THE SYSTEM. THE LOCAL DEALER JUST RECENTLY PUT A CLIP INSIDE THE STEERING WHEEL UNDER A GM CALLBACK. *DUPLICATE TO 10459099*SMCH *TT
TL-THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET CORVETTE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE WAS DRIVING 65 MPH BEFORE RETURNING HOME. UPON RETURNING HOME AND EXITING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT SMELLED A BURNING ODOR COMING FROM THE BRAKES. THE CONTACT EXAMINED THE BRAKES AND NOTICED THAT THEY WERE SEIZED. THE SASC WARNING LIGHTS THEN BEGAN TO ILLUMINATE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DRIVEABLE AND COULD NOT BE TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON A FEW WEEKS AFTER I BOUGHT THE CAR AND WILL NOT GO OFF. CAR HAD APPROXIMATELY 2,300 MILES ON IT AT THE TIME. IT IS A SOLID LIGHT THAT IS ALWAYS ON AS LONG AS THE CAR IS ON. I TOOK IT TO A DEALERSHIP (CRANE CHEVROLET) AND THEY SAID THEY WILL NOT HONOR THE WARRANTY THAT I PURCHASED FOR $2000 FROM THE GRAY CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP IN PENNSYLVANIA (ALSO WHERE I BOUGHT THE CAR). GRAY TOLD ME THE WARRANTY IS GOOD AT ANY GM DEALERSHIP IN THE COUNTRY. I AM GOING TO CALL ANOTHER LOCAL CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP AND SEE WHAT THEY CAN DO. *TR
2005 CORVETTE WITH AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. SHIFTER GETS STUCK IN PARK AND CANNOT BE RELEASED. HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES. CAN ONLY BE RELEASED BY FOLLOWING A SERIES OF STEPS AS OUTLINED IN MANUAL. BELIEVE THE CAUSE IS DUE TO A DEFECTIVE SOLENOID IN SHIFTER CONTROL UNIT. LOOKING AT DIFFERENT WEBSITES THIS SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH MANY CORVETTE OWNERS. *TR
MY 2005 CORVETTE HAS AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. AT TIMES AFTER I START THE CAR, THE SHIFTER GETS STUCK IN PARK. IT HAS HAPPENED WHEN THE ENGINE IS COLD IN THE MORNING AND ALSO IN EVENING AFTER DRIVING FOR A WHILE. IT FEELS LIKE IT IS LOCKED INTO PARK. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET CORVETTE. WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED, THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND BLINKED ON AND OFF INTERMITTENTLY. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED; HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 47,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET CORVETTE. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE REAR RIGHT BRAKE LINE RUBBED UP AGAINST THE MUFFLER CAUSING A HOLE AND A LEAK TO OCCUR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO ADVISED HIM THAT THE BRAKE LINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND REROUTED AWAY FROM THE MUFFLER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND ADVISED HIM THAT HE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 04V525000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:FOUNDATION, HOSES, LINES/PIPING, AND FITTINGS). THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 42,000.
WATER LEAK IN 2005 CHEVROLET CORVETTE CAUSED VERY STRONG MOLD/MILDEW ODOR IN THE CAR AND DESTROYED THE PASSENGER CARPET AND INSULATION, WHICH WERE REMOVED BY TECHNICIAN 122 AT SUN CHEVROLET IN MCMURRAY, PA ON 1/25/2012. SINCE DRIVING THE CAR WITHOUT CARPET OR INSULATION, THE METAL ON THE PASSENGER SIDE DOES GET EXTREMELY HOT AND COULD CAUSE SERIOUS BURNS. THIS PROBLEM SHOULD BE REMEDIED IMMEDIATELY. RECENTLY A RAIN STORM CAUSED MORE WATER TO LEAK INSIDE AND COLLECT UNDER THE PASSENGER SEAT AND ALMOST DAMAGED THE ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS LOCATED ON THE PASSENGER FLOOR WHILE DRIVING. LUCKILY I HAD A TOWEL WITH ME AND QUICKLY ABSORBED ALL OF THE WATER AND RETURNED BACK HOME TO VACUUM THE REMAINING WATER BEFORE ANYTHING ELECTRIC WAS DAMAGED. THIS PROBLEM IS STILL OCCURRING AND HAS BEEN DETERMINED BY A CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP THAT IT MAY BE A FAULTY WEATHER STRIP CAUSING THE WATER LEAK. IF I HAD BEEN GOING FASTER AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED MAJOR DAMAGE TO THE CARS ELECTRONICS AND MAY HAVE EVEN CAUSED THE CAR TO SHUT OFF WHICH CAN LEAD TO A TRAFFIC ACCIDENT AND CAUSE MAJOR INJURIES OR DEATH. THE WEATHER STRIP SHOULD BE RECALLED AND/OR REPLACED AND THE LEAK REPAIRED BY GENERAL MOTORS LLC AT NO COST BECAUSE THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD AND A FACTORY DEFECT. I SPENT A LOT OF HARD EARNED MONEY ON THIS CAR AND DID NOT EXPECT ANY PROBLEMS LIKE THIS. THIS ISSUE ALONE HAS ALREADY COST ME $235.85 AND HOURS OF MY LIFE THAT I WILL NO'T GET BACK. THE PROBLEM WAS NEVER RESOLVED IN 2012 AND ONLY GOT WORSE. THE COST OF THE CARPET AND INSULATION, THAT WERE DAMAGED AND REMOVED, IS ALMOST $1,000 FOR REPLACEMENTS AND LABOR. GENERAL MOTORS LLC IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE LEAK AND SHOULD PROVIDE THESE ITEMS AT NO COST AS WELL AS A REPLACEMENT WEATHER STRIP THAT DOES NOT LEAK AS THE ORIGINAL IS A FACTORY DEFECT. THIS WATER LEAK HAS BEEN DOCUMENTED AND DIAGNOSED BY SUN CHEVROLET ON 10/8/2013. *TR
THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS GO OUT AFTER THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT GETS WARM. THEN WHEN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT GETS COOL THEY WILL WORK AGAIN. FROM MY RESEARCH ONLINE AND THROUGH THE CHEVROLET DEALER IT APPEARS THAT THE FUSE BOX IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT ALTERS THE LOW BEAM SIGNAL CIRCUIT TO THE BODY CONTROL MODULE WHEN ITS TEMPERATURE RISES. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A DESIGN PROBLEM THAT HAS POTENTIALLY TRAGIC SAFETY IMPLICATIONS. THE REPAIR THROUGH THE CHEVROLET DEALER WAS QUOTED TO ME AS $1,200. THE PROBLEM FUSE BOX HAS NO MOVING PARTS TO WEAR OUT. THERE IS NOTHING THE CAR OWNER COULD HAVE DONE TO PREVENT THIS ISSUE FROM OCCURRING. IT IS SAD OWNERS HAVE TO PAY TO REPAIR A PART THAT SHOULDN'T WEAR OUT BECAUSE OF A DESIGN FLAW. *TR
WHEN ANY WATER GETS ON THE WINDOW BUTTONS THEY WASH OFF IN SECONDS. IT DOES CAUSE NIGHT BLINDNESS. WHATEVER THEY ARE PAINTED WILL NOT STAND UP TO WATER REPLACED 3 TIMES IN 2 YEARS..UNSATISFACTORY TO PAINT CHEAP WASH OFF PAINT ON CLEAR BUTTONS. *TR
I WAS DRIVING AT NIGHT AND THE HEADLIGHTS TURNED OFF. AFTER FURTHER INCIDENTS I DISCOVERED THAT THE HEADLIGHTS WORK PROPERLY WHEN THE CAR IS COLD THEN AFTER ABOUT 15 MINUTES THE LO-BEAMS GO OUT. HIGH BEAMS AND FOG LIGHT FUNCTION STILL WORKS PROPERLY. THE DASH INDICATOR ON DASH INDICATES LIGHTS ARE ON EVEN WHEN THEY ARE NOT. IT APPEARS TO BE A THERMAL PROBLEM. YOU CAN DRIVE A SHORT DISTANCE AND THE HEADLIGHTS WORK PROPERLY. PARK THE CAR AND DRIVE IT A SHORT TIME LATER AND THE HEADLIGHTS DON'T WORK. I'VE DISCOVERED OTHERS ON THE INTERNET HAVE THE SAME ISSUE WITH THE 2005 CORVETTE AND THEY ENDED UP HAVING TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE FUSE BOX. *TR
BOTH HEADLIGHT WENT OUT SIMULTANEOUSLY AND WOULD NOT TURN BACK ON. IT WAS NOT BULBS BURNING OUT SINCE REPLACING THEM DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. THIS WAS VERY DANGEROUS SINCE I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AT NIGHT AT THE TIME THE LIGHTS WENT OUT. *TR
MY AIR BAG INDICATOR LIGHT COMES "INTERMITTENTLY". THIS HAPPENS AT LEGAL OPERATING SPEEDS AND NORMAL CONDITIONS. IT WILL EVEN HAPPEN WHILE STANDING STILL. GM RECALLED A NUMBER OF BUICKS AND GMCS THAT HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT STAYING ON (SOME 2008-2009 AND ALL 2010-2013 BUICK ENCLAVE AND GMC ACADIA, SOME 2009 AND ALL 2010-2013 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE, AND SOME 2008-2009 AND ALL 2010 SATURN OUTLOOK TO REPAIR THE WIRING HARNESS OF SEAT MOUNTED SIDE AIR BAGS). THE FIX WAS TO SPLICE THE HARNESSES AND SOLDER THE WIRES TOGETHER! COULD THIS BE A FIX FOR THE CORVETTE TOO? SHOULD THE CORVETTE HAVE BEEN INVOLVED IN THIS RECALL? *TR
HEADLIGHTS RANDOMLY TURNING OFF ONCE THE FUSE BOX IN THE ENGINE BAY IS WARM. WHEN THE CAR IS COLD THE HEADLIGHTS WORK FINE. *TT
I WAS DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 20MPH LEAVING MY HOUSE WHEN THE ACTIVE HANDLING LIGHT CAME ON ALONG WITH ABS LIGHTS. MY FOOT WAS ON THE GAS AND IN FIRST GEAR. SUDDENLY THE BREAKS APPLY BY THEMSELVES CAUSING THE CAR TO VEER LEFT. AT THIS POINT I COULD NOT CONTROL MY STEERING WHEEL TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THIS HAPPENS RANDOMLY AND I CAN NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS. I AM WORRIED IF THIS HAPPENS AT HIGH SPEEDS, A VERY BAD ACCIDENT CAN OCCUR. THIS FIRST OCCURRED ON 08/03/11. IT HAPPENED FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES WHEN I LEFT MY HOUSE. I HAD TO TURN OFF ALL ACTIVE HANDLING AND TRACTION CONTROL FOR THIS TO STOP. I DROVE FINE THE REST OF THE DAY WITH IT OFF. IT DID NOT HAPPEN AGAIN FOR A COUPLE OF WEEKS. AROUND 08/19/11, IT HAPPENED AGAIN. THIS TIME AT A BEST BUY PARKING LOT TRAVELING AT 10MPH. I IMMEDIATELY CONTACTED THE MAITA CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP IN ELK GROVE, CA AND TOOK THE CAR IN THE NEXT DAY. I TOOK THE CAR IN AND THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THEY SAID THAT THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR. I TOLD THEM THAT IT IS NOT NORMAL TO DRIVE THE CAR AND SUDDENLY THE BRAKES APPLY BY THEMSELVES AND VEERS TO THE LEFT. THEY SAID THERE IS NOTHING THAT THEY CAN DO BECAUSE THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM. I AM WORRIED THAT IF THIS HAPPENS ON THE FREEWAY WHILE I AM DRIVING IT CAN BE A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION FOR EVERYONE. I AM NOT SURE WHAT I CAN DO BUT I KNOW IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
I WAS DRIVING MY CAR ON THE FREEWAY AND WAS CHANGING LANES AND WHEN I CHANGED GEARS TO ACCELERATE, ALL OF A SUDDEN I GOT A "SERVICE ACTIVE HANDLING" MESSAGE APPEAR OUT OF NOWHERE AND I FELT MY CAR JERK A LITTLE BIT WHILE DRIVING. I DID TAKE THE CAR IN BEFORE TO HAVE A CLIP (SERVICE RECALL) PLACED ON MY STEERING WHEEL TO PREVENT THE MESSAGE FROM COMING, BUT IT NOW SEEMS LIKE IT ONLY COMES WHEN I ACCELERATE TOO QUICKLY AT FREEWAY SPEEDS. CHAMPION CHEVROLET IN HOUSTON (OFF BELTWAY 8) HAS SEEN THIS CAR MULTIPLE TIMES FOR THIS MESSAGE IN THE PAST, YET I STILL GET IT OCCASSIONALLY. I JUST WANT MY CAR TO BE SAFE. *TR

THE FAILURE WAS NOT PRESENT BEFORE THE RECALL REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 43,000. MY HEADLIGHTS SPONTANEOUSLY STOPPED WORKING AT NIGHT ON MY 2005 C6 CHEVY CORVETTE. *KB
THE VEHICLE CAME TO SUDDEN STOP, STEERING LOCKED, AND THE ACTIVE HANDLING LIGHT CAME ON. THE VEHICLE WAS SHUT OFF FOR A FEW SECONDS AND THEN RESTARTED. IT WAS A SCARY SITUATION. *JS
TRAVELING ON INTERSTATE HIGHWAY WITH CRUISE CONTROL ON AT 68 MPH THE LEFT FRONT BRAKE LOCKED UP CAUSING CAR TO TURN LEFT AND REAR END START TO SWING AROUND. A MOMENT LATER BRAKE IS RELEASED AND I REGAIN CONTROL OF VEHICLE. CHIME AND LIGHT ON DASH GO ON AND STATED "SERVICE ACTIVE HANDLING". THE NEXT DAY I TOOK VEHICLE TO LOCAL DEALER THEY ADVISED I NEEDED A STEERING WHEEL POSITION SENSOR AND A YAW SENSOR FOR A COST OF $1100.00. ALL I GOT FROM THEM WAS THEY CUT THE ESTIMATE TO $550.00. THEY WOULD NOT ADDRESS THE SAFETY FACTOR OF LOCKING ONE FRONT WHEEL. THERE WAS A RECALL LAST YEAR WITH THE SAME SYMPTOMS OF ONE FRONT BRAKE LOCKING. I HAD THE CAR SERVICED LAST YEAR FOR THIS. IT DEALT WITH WIRING IN THE STEERING COLUMN. THEY PUT A CLIP ON IT TO STOP CHAFFING. DEALER SAID THIS IS NOT RELATED TO MY CURRENT PROBLEM. *TR
I WAS DRIVING MY CORVETTE DOWN I10 AT NIGHT WHEN MY LOW-BEAMS DISENGAGED, PLACING ME IN THE DARK AND ALMOST CAUSED A WRECK. I DROVE REST OF THE WAY WITH MY HIGH-BEAMS. THE NEXT DAY WHEN I STARTED IT, THE LOW-BEAMS CAME ON, BUT AFTER ABOUT 5 MINUTES THEY BOTH WENT OFF. THE HIGH-BEAMS STILL WORKED. I WENT TO A LOCAL CORVETTE-CERTIFIED MASTER MECHANIC WHO CHECKED THE BULBS, FUSES, RELAYS, AND ELECTRICAL. HE SAID THAT IT APPEARED TO BE AN ISSUE WITH THE FUSE BLOCK. HE WANTED A LOT OF MONEY TO REPLACE IT, SO I HELD OFF TO CHECK IT OUT SOME MORE. EVERY DAY, ONCE MY CAR BECAME WARM, EITHER FROM RUNNING OR FROM THE ARIZONA SUN, MY LOW-BEAMS WOULD TURN OFF. I WENT TO THE CORVETTE FORUM, THE LARGEST CORVETTE ONLINE COMMUNITY, AND THE MEMBERS KNEW WHAT WAS GOING ON IMMEDIATELY. THEY TOLD ME IT WAS MY FUSE BLOCK AND THAT MANY C6 CORVETTES HAD THE SAME ISSUE...AS THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT HEATED UP, THE RUNNING LIGHTS FAILED. THEY TOLD ME LET MY CAR RUN UNTIL THE LIGHTS WENT OUT AND THEN PLACE A BAG OF ICE ON THE FUSE BLOCK. I DID AND WITHIN 10 MINUTES THE LIGHTS CAME BACK ON. THE FOLKS IN THE FORUM SAID THAT THIS WAS A WELL-KNOWN SAFETY-DEFECT IN THE CORVETTE WORLD AND THAT CHEVY REFUSED TO ACKNOWLEDGE IT. I WENT TO THE CHEVY DEALER AND TOLD ONE OF THE SERVICE MANAGERS. SHE DISAPPEARED FOR 10 MINUTES AND WHEN SHE CAME BACK TOLD ME THAT THEY HAD NEVER HEARD OF THIS ISSUE. THEY IGNORED WHAT I TOLD THEM AND SAID THEY WOULD NEED HALF A DAY TO EXPLORE THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM AND THAT EVEN THEN, THEY MAY NOT FIND THE ISSUE. THE WARNINGS ARE ERRONEOUS, AND CAN CAUSE THE SYSTEM TO REACT, SHUTTING DOWN TRACTION CONTROL, SLOWING THE VEHICLE AND OTHER MEASURES, WITHOUT WARNING. CAR SPUN THE BACK TIRES WHEN MAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN IN FRONT OF ON COMING TRAFFIC. INITIALLY CAR WAS INTERMITTENTLY NOT STARTING. DIC INDICATOR STATED STEERING WHEEL WAS "LOCKED". ON MARCH 11, 2011, I WAS DRIVING THROUGH A PARKING LOT THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP WHILE I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE. UPON MY RESEARCH 1997-2004 MODELS WERE RECALLED FOR THIS ISSUE. MODELS 2006-2010 THE FEATURE - "STEERING COLUMN LOCK" WAS NOT INSTALLED ON THE CARS. MY CONCERN IS 2005 MODELS HAVE NOT BEEN RECALLED AND COULD CAUSE POSSIBLE DEATHS OF OWNERS AND OR OTHER MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC.
