MY 2011 CHEVY CRUZE HAS AN ERRATIC SHIFTING TRANSMISSION. AT TIMES IT IS CONFUSED AND HUNTS FOR GEARS. AT OTHER TIMES, IT HAS BANGED INTO GEAR. MOST OF MY DRIVING IS IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC AND NOT HIGHWAY DRIVING. THE SCARIEST PART IS THE LACK OF ACCELERATION AT TIMES WHEN STEPPING ON THE GAS. SEVERAL MONTHS AGO, WHILE EXITING A SHOPPING CENTER, I ALMOST GOT HIT BY A BUS I WAS A LITTLE INTO THE ROAD AND HAD TIME TO GO BEFORE THE BUS GOT TO ME, BUT WHEN I STEPPED ON THE GAS, NOTHING HAPPENED! LUCKILY, THE BUS HAD ROOM TO GO AROUND ME! I HAVE COMPLAINED TO THE DEALER MANY TIMES ABOUT THIS SITUATION, BUT AM TOLD THERE IS NO NEW UPDATE OR TRANSMISSION REFLASH FROM GM. SO, I THOUGHT IT WAS TIME TO STEP THINGS UP BECAUSE I DID A LOT OF RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET CONCERNING THIS VERY TRANSMISSION ISSUE AND LACK OF ACCELERATION FOR THE 2011 CRUZE AND IT SEEMS TO BE A COMMON COMPLAINT OF MOST 2011 CRUZE OWNERS UNLESS THEY HAVE HAD SOMETHING CALLED A TRIFECTA TUNE DONE TO THEIR CARS, AT THEIR OWN EXPENSE. THEY CLAIM THIS PROCEDURE "CURES" THE SHIFTING PROBLEM. FIRST OFF, MY CAR IS A LEASE, SO I CANNOT MODIFY MY CAR IN ANY WAY. SECONDLY, WHY SHOULD I PAY HUNDREDS TO FIX SOMETHING THAT IS GM'S PROBLEM. ABOUT SIX MONTHS AGO, I CONTACTED GM CUSTOMER SERVICE. FROM ABOUT JULY, 2012 TO NOV. I HAVE BEEN HOOKED UP WITH THREE DIFFERENT PEOPLE WHO WERE WITH THE EARLY RESPONSE TEAM IN THE BUSINESS RESOURCE CENTER. THERE WERE A TON OF PHONE CALLS FROM THEM, BUT IT WAS ALL TALK AND NO ACTION EXCEPT FOR A NEW TCM THAT WAS INSTALLED IN AUG. AT 10,196 MILES. THAT DID NOTHING TO IMPROVE THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTING. I THEN CONTACTED GM CORPORATE ON NOV. 7TH TO EXPLAIN MY PROBLEM. FROM THEN UNTIL TODAY, JAN.21, 2013 I DEALT WITH A GENTLEMEN. FINALLY, ON JAN. 15, AN ENGINEER WAS SENT TO MY DEALER. CONCLUSION- LIKE EVERYONE ELSE WITH THIS PROBLEM- "OPERATING AS DESIGNED"! I FEEL THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE
I PURCHASED MY NEW CAR IN MAY OF 2011, MY FIRST YEAR I HAD NO PROBLEMS. MY SECOND YEAR I HAVE LOST BRAKES TOOK IT TO DEALER AND THEY REPLACED MY BRAKE SWITCH. AND NOW IT IS HAVING SHIFTING ISSUES. IT REVS HIGH WHEN REMOVED FROM PARK TO DRIVE WHEN YOU LEFT OFF THE BREAK IT JERKS HARD THROWING YOU BACK INTO THE SEAT. IT ALSO LOSES POWER. IF IM STOPPED AND TRY TO PULL OUT IT DOES NOT WANT TO GO. IT HESITATES THEN IT WILL TAKE OFF QUICKLY. THE HESITATION IS VERY UN SAFE. I HAVE BEEN ALMOST HIT BY AN ON COMING CAR DUE TO IT. LUCKILY IT TOOK OFF SO NO ACCIDENT THAT TIME. I DO NOT TRUST IT. I RECENTLY LOST POWER GOING UP HILL AROUND A TURN I WAS ACCELERATING BUT LOSING SPEED. I COMPLETELY LEFT OFF THE ACCELERATOR AND REAPPLIED IT WAS A SLOW RESPONSE BUT FINALLY TOOK OFF AND DROVE. IT IS NOT SHIFTING PROPERLY. I HAVE AN AUTOMATIC. IT JUST SEEMS HARD SHIFTING AND JERKY WHEN IT DOES SHIFT. THIS IS A MAJOR ISSUE. SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET KILLED FROM THE SLUGGISH DELAY THESE VEHICLES ARE HAVING THEN GM WILL BE SUED. MINE SEEMS TO BE GETTING WORSE YESTERDAY 20 MAY 2013 WAS THE FIRST FOR LOSE OF POWER UP HILL. I HAVE NOT YET HAD MY BACK TO DEALER OVER THIS ISSUE BUT SINCE IT IS GETTING WORSE AND ACTING UP MORE OFTEN I WILL TAKING IT IN AND SEE WHAT THEY SAY ABOUT IT. *TR
I HAVE BEEN HAVING TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS WITH HIS VEHICLE SINCE ITS PURCHASE IN JULY 2011. FIRST INCIDENT WAS THE DAY AFTER I ACCEPTED DELIVERY OF THE VEHICLE. DEALER STATED THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG AFTER DRIVING WITH ME AND NO RECORD OF THE SERVICE WAS CREATED. AFTER CHANGING DEALERS, I WAS TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE TRANSMISSION AND THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. ON FUTURE VISITS, THE TRANSMISSION SOFTWARE WAS UPDATED WHICH HELPED SOME, BUT DID NOT ALLEVIATE THE PROBLEM COMPLETELY. YESTERDAY, THE FOLLOWING WARNINGS WERE DISPLAYED: SERVICE STABILITRACK SYSTEM SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM I HAVE OPENED ANOTHER COMPLAINT WITH CHEVY STATING THE TRANSMISSION HAS ONGOING PROBLEMS AND I WANT MY MONEY REFUNDED. THIS IS THE SECOND COMPLAINT I HAVE OPENED WITH THEM. THE FIRST COMPLAINT WAS "RESOLVED" BY OFFERING FULL COVERAGE MAINTENANCE FOR 9000 MILES AT THIS POINT IN TIME, I AM RELUCTANT TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE ANYWHERE BECAUSE I AM AFRAID IT WILL FAIL. I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE NEW AND I AM THE ONLY OWNER/ DRIVER. THE TRANSMISSION HAS ALWAYS BEEN JERKY AND LAGGING. IT HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER MULTIPLE TIME FOR SERVICE. AFTER BUYING MY BRAND NEW 2011 CHEVROLET CRUSE LS STICK SHIFT MODEL ON AUGUST 10, 2011, SOME TIME PASSED. THEN, I NOTICED A MINOR PROBLEM. AND I AM STRESSING MINOR, BECAUSE THIS CAR NOW HAS 40 THOUSAND MILES ON IT AND IS STILL A GREAT CAR, BUT STILL HAS THE EXACT SAME ISSUE AS FOLLOWS: WHEN I TURN THE KEY THE FIRST TIME TO TRY TO START THE VEHICLE, IT MAKES A NOISE BUT THE ENGINE DOES NOT START. THEN, ALWAYS, ON THE SECOND TRY IT FIRES RIGHT UP! I NOTICE THIS MORE OFTEN WHEN THE CAR HAS BEEN DRIVEN, AND IS STILL WARM(ENGINE). NOW WITH 40 THOUSAND MILES ON THE VEHICLE, IT IS A LITTLE EASING TO MY MIND KNOWING THAT THIS MAY NOT PROGRESS INTO SOMETHING OF A BIGGER PROBLEM. AT LEAST I HOPE NOT. ANOTHER COUPLE OF PROBLEMS I MUST NOTE IS AS FOLLOWS, BUT HAVE NOT PROVEN TO BE OF ANY CONCERN WHATSOEVER: AT TIMES THERE IS A GRINDING NOISE COMING FROM, PERHAPS THE ENGINE??) WHEN THE CAR IS IDLE, AND IN NEUTRAL, AT SAY, A RED LIGHT OR AT A DRIVE THROUGH WINDOW. DOES NOT OCCUR ALL THE TIME, BUT A LOT OF THE TIME. THIRDLY, THE KEY BROKE OFF WHEN I TRIED TO PULL MY KEYS OUT OF THE IGNITION ONE TIME. THE DEALER WAS VERY SUPPORTIVE ON THIS ISSUE AND FIXED MY KEYS PROMPTLY AND EFFECTIVELY. HOWEVER, I HAVE MENTIONED THE STARTING(MINOR AS IT SEEMS) ISSUE TO MY DEALER WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. THEY, AS I LIKELY EXPECTED, TOLD ME THERE WERE NO CODES OR ANYTHING UNUSUAL THEY COULD FIND THAT MAY LEAD TO THIS ISSUE.THUS FAR I RATE MY CRUZE A SOLID 9 OUT OF 10! I ENJOY DRIVING MY VEHICLE AND IT GETS GREAT GAS MILEAGE AND DRIVES MORE LIKE A TOP OF THE LINE VEHICLE. I ALWAYS FEEL SAFE WHEN DRIVING IT. CHEVY DID A NICE JOB WITH ITS CRUZE. (INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR). I LOVE THE POWER FROM THE 1.8 4. THE STICK SHIFT NICELY SHIFTS AND PROVIDES THE CAR WITH MORE POWER. I AM GLAD I DON'T HAVE THE AUTOMATIC. HOPE I ASSISTED YOU WITH ANYTHING THAT MAY BE ABLE TO BE ADDRESSED. THANK YOU.
I WAS JUST INQUIRING ABOUT 2011 CHEVY CRUZES CATCHING ON FIRE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET CRUZE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SMOKE EMITTED FROM UNDER THE HOOD WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH. THE CONTACT DROVE THE VEHICLE HOME AND NOTICED THAT THE SMOKE WAS COMING FROM THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST, BUT HE HAD YET TO RECEIVE THE DIAGNOSIS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 116,700.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET CRUZE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BECAME SPONGY AND WAS ABNORMALLY DEPRESSED ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOORBOARD BEFORE THE VEHICLE RESPONDED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO ADVISED THAT THEY COULD NOT FIND ANY FAILURE WITH THE BRAKES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED WHO OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 13,930.
2011 CHEVY CRUZ LTZ. CONSUMER IS INQUIRING ABOUT VEHICLES CATCHING FIRE *TGW
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET CRUZE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH, THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESPOND AND THE BRAKE PEDAL FELL TO THE FLOORBOARD ABNORMALLY. THE CONTACT USED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTICS WHERE THE TECHNICIAN ADVISED THAT THE BOOSTER KIT, RETAINER, CYLINDER KIT AND THE VALVE KIT WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING WHERE THE TECHNICIANS WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT FURTHER REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 24,835.
HESITATION AT ANY SPEED, HAD TO DEALER MULTIPLE TIMES FOR THE SAME THING AND THEY CAN'T DUPLICATE, TOOK TO DEALER ON OCT 4TH AND DEALER SAID THAT IT NEEDED A NEW CYLINDER HEAD, GOT CAR BACK AND NOTHING WAS DONE, STILL DOING THE SAME THING AND CALLED TO COMPLAIN TO CHEVY WHICH CAN'T DO ANYTHING EITHER. *TR
WHEN CHEVY CRUZE REACHES FULL OPERATING TEMPERATURE, USING THE HEATER PRODUCES A VERY STRONG SMELL COMES FROM THE HEATING DUCTS INSIDE THE CAR. ESPECIALLY DURING USE OF THE DEFROST SETTING. THE SMELL IS LIKE BURNING ANTIFREEZE AND BURNING PLASTIC. THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE HEATER IS SET TO FULL HOT. FAN SPEED DOESN'T SEEM TO MATTER. THIS ONLY EXISTS ONCE THE CAR HAS REACHED FULL OPERATING TEMP. WITH THE CAR OFF OVER NIGHT RESIDUAL SMELL STILL PERMEATES INSIDE THE CAR. THE SMELL ON A 30 MINUTE COMMUTE IS SO BAD THAT I FEEL DIZZY, NAUSEOUS, AND I HAVE TO ROLL THE WINDOWS DOWN EVEN WHEN IT IS COLD OUTSIDE. I HAVE ASKED OTHERS TO RIDE WITH ME AND EVERY PERSON HAS EXPERIENCED THE SMELL.
GAS TANK VENT HAS SHIFTED IN MY CAR. WHENEVER I PUMP GAS INTO THE CAR IT WILL ONLY ALLOW ME TO PUMP AT A SLOW SPEED. SEVERAL PUMPS HAVE NOT RECOGNIZED THE SPEED AND DID NOT AUTOMATICALLY SHUT OFF. CAUSING GASOLINE TO SPILL OUT OF MY CAR ONTO MY CLOTHES, VEHICLE AND GROUND. TO ME THIS IS A POTENTIAL FIRE HAZARD. NOT ONLY DID I HAVE TO GO TO WORK SMELLING LIKE GAS, BUT I CARRIED THE FUMES INTO THE CAR WITH ME. SO THAT MY 2 YOUNG GRAND CHILDREN HAVE TO SMELL THE FUMES. *TR
WHILE DRIVING A 2011 CRUZE ECO WITH APPROXIMATELY 11,000 MILES THE CAR CAUGHT FIRE. THE CAR WAS LAST SERVICED BY THE DEAL APPROXIMATELY 4,000 MILES AGO (3 MONTHS). THE CAR WAS 30 MILES INTO A 43 MILE TRIP WHEN IT CAUGHT FIRE, AND PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT THERE WERE NO WARNING SIGNS OF ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE. THE ONLY INDICATION OF A PROBLEM WAS SLIGHT SMOKE COMING FROM THE ENGINE BAY, AND THEN AS SOON AS THE CAR WAS STOPPED A FLAME CAME OUT BETWEEN THE HOOD AND THE COWL AREA. THE CAR WAS TOTALLY ENGULFED WITHIN 5 MINUTES OF STOPPING, AND IT WAS ONLY AFTER THE FIRST SIGN OF FIRE WAS VISIBLE THAT THE WARNING LIGHT ON THE DASH BOAR ILLUMINATED. THE CAR IS A TOTAL LOSS, AND CHEVROLET HAS STATED THEY WILL HAVE SOMEONE CONTACT ME IN 7 TO 10 DAYS TO DISCUSS THE INCIDENT. FROM RESEARCH ONLINE IT APPEARS THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED INCIDENT, AND I AM CONCERNED AS I WAS NEVER WARNED VIA A TECHNICAL BULLETIN OR RECALL OF ANY POTENTIAL ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE. CHEVROLET HAS NOT SEEMED TO BE VERY CONCERNED OVER THIS ISSUE THUS FAR, BUT I AM PUSHING FOR ACTION FROM CHEVROLET. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET CRUZE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED, INDICATING THAT THE THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE WAS FLAT. AFTER INSPECTING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE REAR DRIVER SIDE TIRE WAS FLAT AND NOT THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE, AS THE WARNING LIGHT INDICATED. THE CONTACT REPLACED THE TIRE WITH THE SPARE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 26,861.
1ST THE VEHICLE FAILED TO SHIFT INTO REVERSE. THE TORQUE CONVERTER HAD DISASSEMBLED AND TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED. ONE MONTH LATER THE ENGINE BEGAN TO SMOKE, THE VALVE COVER HAD MELTED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED GM CHARGED ME FOR THIS UNDER WARRANTY PART. THEN, I WAS MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN ONTO A RESIDENTIAL STREET MY VEHICLE BEGAN TO SMOKE INSIDE THE VEHICLE. I SHUT DOWN THE CAR AND LOOKED UNDER THE HOOD OIL WAS IN THE ANTI FREEZE FILL TANK, I CALLED GM THEY SENT A TRUCK AND TOOK IT TO DEALERSHIP. THE RESULT; GM TOLD DEALERSHIP TO REPLACE ENGINE, CALLED BACK AND SAID DON'T REPLACE TRY TO FIX IT. THEY REPLACED THE TURBO CHARGER, TURBO COOLER, AND OIL COOLER, ONLY TO HAVE ME BACK 5-6 TIMES WITH COOLING PROBLEMS, THE VEHICLE STILL HAS COOLING ISSUES, AND GOES BACK FOR SERVICE EVERY TWO WEEKS OR SO. THE VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT BACK TO SERVICE AS THERE WERE STILL SHIFTING PROBLEMS. THEY FOUND THE TORQUE CONVERTER DISASSEMBLED AND TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE REPLACED AGAIN, AND THEN AGAIN A FEW MONTHS LATER. THE VEHICLE HAS A STEERING ISSUE THAT HAS BEEN BROUGHT TO THE THEIR ATTENTION. THE STEERING LOCKS UP PERIODICALLY WHEN TRAVELING OVER 30MPH, AND HAS MADE ME AFRAID I WILL BE DRIVING AND LOCK UP PERMANENTLY. THE BRAKES ARE AN ISSUE ON THE VEHICLE NOW AND PRIOR TO RECALL FOR BRAKE ASSIST, IT IS STILL HARD TO STOP THE VEHICLE. AND BRAKES HAVE TO BE REPLACED EVERY 3 MONTHS. THERE IS DEFINITELY AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE AS THE EMERGENCY FLASHERS WORKED PERIODICALLY THEN COMPLETELY STOPPED WORKING, AS WELL AS THE RUNNING LIGHTS BURNING OUT WITHIN A MONTH OF REPLACEMENT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE DEALERSHIP FEELS ITS NOT A PROBLEM. THIS VEHICLE MAY SHUT OFF FROM ELECTRICAL ISSUES EVENTUALLY. WHEN USING THE AIR CONDITIONER THE DASHBOARD FILLS WITH OVER A HALF INCH OF CONDENSATION AND LEAKS OUT OF THE VENTS PROFUSELY. VALVE COVER HAD TO BE REPLACED AGAIN. *TR
2-10-12 - 15422 MILEAGE CAR TOWED TO DEALERSHIP - WOULD START / SHIFTER WOULD GO INTO GEAR / CAR WOULD NOT DRIVE - CHECK ENGINE, TRACTION CONTROL & STABILITRAK LIGHT WERE ON. - SHAFT DETENT LEVER SWITCH REPLACED. 3-12-12 - 16471 MILEAGE - BROUGHT TO DEALERSHIP CAR WOULD NOT ENGAGE FROM THE STOP POSITION TO ACCELERATION & POOR GAS MILEAGE SINCE 2-10 REPAIR - CAUSED TO ROLL INTO INTERSECTION. - CONTROL SOLENOID VALVE & TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE REPLACED. I JUST GOT OIL CHANGE A WEEK BEFORE THIS HAPPENED THROUGH THE DEALER. AT NORTHSHORE CHEVROLET IN SMITHTOWN NY. MY SON WAS WAITING AT TRAFFIC LIGHT AT INTERSECTION OF POND PATH AND NICOLLS ROAD IN SETUKET NY. WHEN A WOMAN IN NEXT LANE WAS YELLING YOUR.CARS IS ON FIRE. AFTER ABOUT 10,000 MILES THE CAR HESITATES WHEN THE ACCELERATOR IS PUSHED. AROUND 20 TO 30 MPH WHEN NEEDING TO SPEED UP THE VEHICLE THE VEHICLE WILL STALL THE TRANSMISSION WILL THEN KICK IN WITH NOISE. VERY UNSAFE TO DRIVE IN MODERATE TO HEAVY TRAFFIC IN CITIES. I HAVE BEEN IN TRAFFIC WITH MULTIPLE LANES AND WANTING TO PASS SOMEONE. WHEN PUSHING THE ACCELERATOR TO PASS THE CAR JUST SITS THERE! THEN AFTER A HESITATION THE CAR WILL POP THEN FINALLY MOVE. CAR HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP FOR THIS PROBLEM AT THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY STATE NOTHING IS WRONG WITH THE CAR. I EVEN HAD ONE OF THE MECHANICS TELL ME THAT FOR THESE TYPES OF TRANSMISSIONS IT IS NORMAL! HOW CAN THIS BE SAFE! IF I WASN'T AWARE OF MY DRIVING AND A VERY GOOD DRIVER I WOULD HAVE HAD MULTIPLE WRECKS WITH THIS ISSUE. LUCKILY I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO OVER CORRECT WHEN THE SITUATION OCCURS. AT ONE POINT I HAD TO PULL OFF THE INTERSTATE DUE TO THE FACT I WAS PUSHING THE GAS PETAL ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND MY CAR JUST STALLED AT 23 MPH FOR OVER 15 SECONDS UNTIL I PULLED OVER, RELEASED THE PETAL AND ENGAGED AGAIN. *TR

IT DOES NOT FROST UP BUT THERE IS A NASTY FILM ON THEM THAT SMEARS AROUND WHEN WIPED. LIGHTS SHINE IN AND MAKE A RAINBOW TYPE COLORING ON THEM AND HARD TO SEE. THIS HAS TO BE A SAFETY ISSUE. WHILE ON VACATION IN DECEMBER I TOOK IT TO A DEALER AFTER SMELLING IT NOW ON A DAILY BASIS. THEY COULD NOT SMELL IT AND WOULD NOT EVEN OPEN THE HOOD. ON JAN 25 I TOOK IT TO BIG M CHEVY AND ONE GUY SMELLED SOMETHING, UNSURE OF WHAT IT WAS THEY PRESSURE TESTED IT AND NOTHING SHOWED. THEY PUT DYE IN AND I DROVE IT FOR 13 DAYS SMELLING IT DAILY. THEY LOOKED AT IT AGAIN ON 2/7 AND SAID NO LEAKS. IT IS GOING TO A 3RD DEALER MONDAY. I AM TO THE POINT OF STOPPING DRIVING IT. IT CAN NOT BE HEALTHY FOR ME AND MY CHILDREN TO BREATHE THIS IN DAILY. CAR WILL NOT ACCELERATE WHEN PULLING INTO TRAFFIC. THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT HAPPENS INTERMEDIATELY. YOU LET UP ON THE BRAKES AND PRESS THE ACCELERATOR AND THE CAR JUST CREEPS FORWARD AND DOES NOT ACCELERATE. OCCURS MOST OFTEN WHEN THE CAR IS COLD OR THE A/C IN ON AND/OR YOU ARE MAKING A RIGHT OR LEFT TURN, HOWEVER, IT CAN OCCUR AT ANYTIME. THE INITIAL PROBLEM WAS THE AIRBAG INDICATOR LIGHT DID NOT COME ON WHEN MY WIFE SAT DOWN IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. IT WAS AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM WITH THE LIGHT NOT COMING ON TO SHOW THE AIRBAGS WERE ACTIVE. WE TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE IT. I WAITED ABOUT A WEEK AND IT HAPPENED AGAIN. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER WITH THE AIRBAG LIGHT OFF WITH MY WIFE IN THE SEAT. THEY REPLACED THE SENSOR IN THE SEAT. FOR ABOUT A WEEK ALL WAS OK. THEN WE WERE COMING HOME FROM A SHOPPING TRIP AND MY WIFE SAT DOWN AND THE LIGHT INDICATING THE AIRBAGS WERE ACTIVE DID NOT COME ON. I DROVE DIRECTLY TO THE DEALER, ABOUT THIRTY MINUTES, AND WITH MY WIFE IN THE SEAT SHOWED HIM. THE SERVICE MANAGER CALLED GM AND WAS ON THE PHONE FOR ABOUT 45 MINUTES. THEY CONNECTED THE VEHICLE TO THE GM COMPUTER WITH MY WIFE IN THE SEAT AND RAN A NUMBER OF TESTS. THE GM PEOPLE INDICATED TO THE SERVICE MANAGER THAT THEY WERE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND TOLD HIM NOT TO TOUCH ANYTHING THAT THE VEHICLE MEETS ALL GOVERNMENT SPECIFICATIONS. THEY SAID THEY WOULD CALL BACK IN 24-48 HOURS. THEY DID AND CLAIMED THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE AIRBAGS AND SAID ALL OF THE 2011 CHEVROLET CRUZES WERE THE SAME AS MINE. THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING MORE TO BE DONE. THE PROBLEM HAS NOT REOCCURRED YET, BUT WE ARE SKEPTICAL ABOUT THE OUTCOME AND NOTIFIED YOU FOLKS. THIS OCCURS INFREQUENTLY, BUT IT HAS OCCURRED MORE THAN AN HANDFUL AND LESS THAN A DOZEN TIMES SINCE I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE. I HAVE THE TURBO CHARGED ENGINE AND DO FOLLOW THE GUIDELINES FOR GRADUAL PEDAL PRESSURE TO ACCELERATE MY VEHICLE BUT A NEAR STALL IS NOT A BYPRODUCT OF A HEAVY FOOT ON MY PART. ASIDE FROM THE SAFETY CONCERNS,MY JOB REQUIRES ME TO COMMUTE AROUND 55 MILES/DAY AND I CAN'T HAVE A MALFUNCTIONING CAR OR ONE THAT IS CONSTANTLY BEING CALLED BACK TO THE SHOP FOR A RECALL. I HAVE ALREADY TAKEN AT LEAST 3 DAYS OFF SINCE PURCHASING THIS CAR TO TAKE IT INTO THE SHOP FOR REPAIRS/RECALLS. I BOUGHT A NEW CAR TO AVOID THESE FRUSTRATIONS. CURRENTLY, I HAVE LESS THAN 40,000 MILES (MOSTLY HIGHWAY) ON THIS CAR. I DON'T THINK THIS IS TYPICAL FOR A NEW CAR WITH LOW MILEAGE. UPDATED 11/24/2014 *JS
