C/S SES LIGHT WAS ON. I TOOK CAR TO NORMAN FREDE CHEVROLET FOR REPAIRS. THE DETERMINED THAT THERE WAS A VACUUM LEAK AT THE ENGINE CAM COVER AND REPLACED IT - OR SO THEY SAID. HERE IS THE INVOICE STATEMENT: "PO171 VAC LEAK AT ENGINE CAM COVER 4060930/0.6 REPLACE ENGINE CAM COVER. CLEAR CODE 6061" AFTER GETTING THE CAR BACK, I WENT TO NBT AND HAD THE OIL CHANGED. THE NEXT MORNING I DROVE TO DALLAS FROM HOUSTON. ON THE WAY, I HAD ANOTHER CODE LIGHT AND CALLED THE DEALERSHIP. WHEN I GOT BACK FROM DALLAS ON SUNDAY JUNE 29, 2013, I DISCOVERED THAT THERE WAS OIL ON THE BACK OF MY CAR BUMPER AND TRUNK. I TOOK IT TO NBT AND THEY INSPECTED IT AND CONFIRMED THAT THEY DID NOTHING WRONG TO CAUSE THE OIL LEAK. NBT CONFIRMED THAT THE ENGINE WAS LEAKING OIL AT THE CAM COVER. I DROPPED THE VEHICLE AT NORMAN FREDE ON SUNDAY AND AM IN THE PROCESS OF GETTING TO THE BOTTOM OF THE PROBLEM. THE NBT PERSON WAS SURPRISED THAT THE CAM COVER WAS PLASTIC. THIS OIL LEAK COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ENGINE FIRE. I AM ALSO CONCERNED ABOUT A PLASTIC CAM COVER. SHOULD NOT A CAM COVER BE METAL? IS THIS A CHRONIC PROBLEM? *TR
LOSS OF POWER BRAKE ASSIST, REQUIRING EXCESSIVE FORCE TO STOP VEHICLE. BARELY STOPPED IN TIME TO AVOID COLLISION WITH VEHICLE AHEAD. SECOND INCIDENT. FIRST INCIDENT WAS APPROXIMATELY 2-3 WEEKS AGO WHEN BACKING UP IN DRIVEWAY. *TR
THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, RADIO, POWER STEERING, STOPS WORKING INTERMITTENTLY . I SLOWED DOWN RECENTLY TO TURN AND THE POWER STEERING QUIT AND I HIT THE CURB. I HAD A PRIVATE MECHANIC TIGHTEN CABLES TO BATTERY WHICH WORKED FOR MONTHS BUT NOW THE PROBLEM IS BACK.
I HIT THE GAS PEDAL HARD TO MERGE INTO TRAFFIC, THE CAR DID NOT GO. I HEARD SQUEALING TIRES, TURNS OUT IT WAS MY TIRES SQUEALING. THE TURBO KICKED IN AND CATAPULTED MY CAR INTO TRAFFIC. I WAS ABLE TO STEER TO THE RIGHT, TO AVOID HITTING ANYONE OR GETTING HIT, BUT I WAS FORCED UP AGAINST CONSTRUCTION BARRELS TO AVOID A COLLISION. *TR
ON THIS PARTICULAR OCCURRENCE THE LIGHTS ON THE RADIO DISPLAY BEGAN TO FLICKER AND THEN ALL ELECTRICAL POWER TO THE DASHBOARD, AIRBAGS, AND THE ELECTRICALLY ASSISTED POWER STEERING WENT OUT. IT REMAINED OFF FOR APPROXIMATELY 10 TO 15 SECONDS. AS A RESULT I HAD NO CONTROL OVER THE VEHICLE. THE ELECTRICAL CAME BACK ON AND THE DASH DISPLAY DEPICTED THE WARNING MESSAGE CHECK STABILITITRAK, OR WORDS TO THAT EFFECT. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THAT NOTHING SHOWED UP ON THE SCOPE AND THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. THIS HAS ALSO HAPPENED TO MY GRAND DAUGHTER ON 07/09/2014 OUT IN COLORADO AS SHE IS USING THE VEHICLE FOR SCHOOL AND WORK. AGAIN THE DEALER STATES THERE IS NOTHING SHOWING UP ON THE SCOPE AND THEY HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE ISSUE EVEN THOUGH SHE HAD HER FRIEND RECORD THE EVENT WITH THEIR CELL PHONE. DURING THIS EVENT THE VEHICLE COULD NOT BE RESTARTED AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF IN A PARKING LOT. AFTER AN HOUR WAIT THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED. *TR
I WAS BACKING OUT OF MY GARAGE AND AS I PUSHED ON MY BRAKE PEDAL TO SLOW DOWN AND MANEUVER OUT OF THE GARAGE I REALIZED THE PEDAL WOULD NOT GO DOWN AND THE CAR KEPT GOING IN REVERSE WITH NO WAY OF STOPPING IT! THERE WAS NO GIVE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL AT ALL, IT WAS AS IF IT WAS LOCKED UP. I ROLLED BACKWARD SEVERAL FEET WHILE STILL PUSHING ON THE BRAKE AND EVENTUALLY THE PEDAL WENT DOWN AND THE CAR STOPPED. THIS HAPPENED ABOUT A MONTH AGO, BUT I THOUGHT, AT THE TIME, I MUST HAVE DONE SOMETHING SILLY LIKE HIT THE FLOORBOARD WITH MY FOOT . I NOW REALIZE THIS COULD BE A REAL HAZARD TO MYSELF AND OTHERS. I DID HAVE A RECALL ON THE BRAKES SOME MONTHS AGO AND I TOOK MY CAR INTO TO HAVE IT DONE. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE SINCE CHEVROLET FIXED MY RECALL. THIS IS VERY CONCERNING!! *TR
SINCE 11/13 TO PRESENT, I'VE BEEN EXPERIENCING INSTANCES WITH THE STABILITY TRAK ISSUES WITH THE RADIO TURNING ON/OFF FOR A FEW MINS; THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS WOULD BLINK AND GO DIM; IT HAPPENED OFTEN WHEN I'D USE THE DEFOGGER AND TRY TO LET THE WINDOW UP/DOWN AND IT WOULD ALSO DIM MY HEADLIGHTS (I NOTICED THAT IN THE EVENINGS) OR EVEN JUST USING THE TURN SIGNAL. RECENTLY I WAS HITTING THE HIGHWAY & THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT, THE DOORS UNLOCKED & THE MESSAGES WERE ON MY DASH. THERE'S ALSO A DARK RING AROUND MY STEERING WHEEL FOR THE AIRBAG THAT I BELIEVED TRIED TO OPEN. I HAD TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL WITH A LOT OF FORCE TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TO AVOID GETTING HIT FROM BEHIND. I TURNED THE CAR OFF & WAITED A FEW MINUTES & TURNED IT BACK ON. IT CAME BACK ON WITH NO ISSUES. THE NEXT DAY THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT AGAIN BUT THIS TIME I WAS IN THE DRIVEWAY AFTER ARRIVING HOME. BOTH TIMES THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED, I WAS USING MY AC. I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP & WAS TOLD THAT THE CODES MAY NOT COME UP SINCE IT HAD ONLY HAPPENED 2 TIMES. I TOOK IT TO ADVANCE AUTO AND THEY PUT IT ON THEIR COMPUTER AND NO CODES SHOWED UP. I WAS TOLD BY THE PLACE THAT I PURCHASED MY CAR FROM TO WAIT FOR THE RECALL. I'VE BEEN CHECKING EVERY DAY SINCE THEN TO SEE IF THERE IS A RECALL FOR MY CAR BECAUSE I DON'T WANT TO PAY FOR REPAIRS THAT SHOULD ALREADY BE ON THE RECALL LIST! I'M TOO AFRAID TO DRIVE THE CAR A LONG DISTANCE FOR FEAR OF GETTING HIT OR EVEN KILLED BY OTHER VEHICLES IF & WHEN MY CAR DOES IT AGAIN. *TR
I WAS DRIVING TO MY PARENTS HOUSE AND WAS AT A PLACE WHERE I HAD TO TURN SO I TURNED AND MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP AND I ALMOST HIT SOMEONE BECAUSE MY STEERING WHEEL WOULDN'T TURN. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES AND EVERY TIME STABILITY TRACK POPS UP ON MY SCREEN AND MY RADIO FLICKERS ON AND OFF AND MY BLINKER DOESN'T MAKE A SOUND WHEN THIS HAPPENS. NOW MY BRAKES ARE STARTING TO ACT UP TOO WHEN I PRESS THE BRAKES SOMETIMES IT ROCKS BACK AND FOURTH WHILE I'M STOPPED ALSO THE CAR MAKES A FUNNY NOISE WHILE IN PARK. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 CHEVROLET CRUZE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V360000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC). THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DIFFICULT TO DEPRESS AND HESITATED TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE DID NOT EXPERIENCE THE FAILURE PRIOR TO THE RECALL REPAIRS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER, BUT THE FAILURE WAS NOT ABLE TO BE DUPLICATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 CHEVROLET CRUZE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING IN REVERSE AND BACKING INTO A PARKING SPACE THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALLED. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT AFTER RESTARTING THE ENGINE THE VEHICLE OPERATED AS NORMAL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
I BOUGHT A 2012 CRUZE IN MARCH. IT RAN GREAT WHEN I TEST DROVE IT AND FOR THE FIRST COUPLE OF MONTHS. THEN AT THE 3RD MONTH WE STARTED TO HAVE PROBLEMS. IT HAS ABOUT 29000 MILES ON IT RIGHT NOW. ALL OF A SUDDEN, THE TIME/TEMP/DATE DISPLAY (ALONG WITH THE RADIO) STARTED BLACKING OUT. THEN A FEW TIMES THE "SERVICE POWER STEERING" WARNING LIGHT FLASHED ON AND OFF AND WE ACTUALLY LOST OUR POWER STEERING MOMENTARILY. VERY SCARY. THEN THE "SERVICE STABILITRAK" WARNING LIGHT FLASHED ON AND OFF AS WELL. AT THE SAME TIME THE TIME/TEMP/DATE BLACKS OUT AGAIN TOO. OUR CAR IS GM CERTIFIED AND STILL UNDER THE FACTORY WARRANTY, SO WE TOOK IT IN TO OUR LOCAL CHEVY DEALER. (WE DID NOT BUY IT FROM THEM, BUT IT IS CLOSER THAN THE PLACE WE BOUGHT IT) THEY HAVE TRIED AT LEAST 3 TIMES TO FIX IT SINCE THIS STARTED. BUT WHEN THEY DRIVE IT, NOTHING HAPPENS. IT ONLY DOES IT WHEN WE ARE DRIVING!. NOW THE CHEVY DEALER CAN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG ON THE COMPUTER, THEY CAN'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM WHEN THEY DRIVE IT. THEY REPLACED THE BRAKE MODULE. NO LUCK. AFTER ABOUT 3 WEEKS, THEY RETURNED THE CAR TO US LAST NIGHT AND SAID WE SHOULD GET RID OF IT. I AM COMPLETELY SHOCKED. I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO. THE SERVICE PERSON EVEN TOLD US TO TAKE IT BACK WHERE WE BOUGHT IT AND DEMAND THEY GIVE US A DIFFERENT CAR! I PICKED UP THE CAR LAST NIGHT AND THIS MORNING DROVE IT ABOUT 1 MILE AND THE TIME/TEMP DISPLAY WENT OUT AGAIN, EVEN LONGER THAN BEFORE. CAN'T HEAR THE BLINKER BLINK AND, THE "SERVICE STABILITRAK" LIGHT WENT ON AGAIN. PLEASE HELP! FORCE GM TO RECALL THESE. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE IT. PART OF THE FRUSTRATION IS THAT THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE PERSONNEL SAID THEY CALLED GM AND THE ENGINEERS, AND OTHER DEALERSHIPS AND THEY SAID NONE OF THEM HAD EVER HAD THIS HAPPEN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V360000 (SERVICE, HYDRAULIC). THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 168,340.
WHILE I WAS DRIVING IN THE RAIN MY DRIVER SIDE WIPER BLADE JUST STOPPED WORKING. ONE OF MY CO WORKERS LOOKED AT IT AND THE ENTIRE BLADE CAME OFF. I HAD A MECHANIC LOOK AT THE PROBLEM TO FIND OUT THE PASSENGER SIDE IS JUST THE SAME WAY. THE ENTIRE WINDSHIELD WIPER MECHANISM HAS TO BE REPLACED. FOR NOW THE PARTS ARE WELDED TOGETHER TO MAKE IT WORK. *TR
WHEN EXITING THE FREEWAY COMING TO A STOP MY CAR COMPLETLY SHUTS OFF. HAVING TO PUT IT IN PARK TO RESTART
AFTER YOU SHUT THE CAR OFF AND GET OUT OF THE CAR, IT SOUNDS LIKE THE MOTOR IS STILL RUNNING. *TR
I GOT MY CAR IN MARCH & ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT! FOR THE FIRST FEW MONTHS I HAD NO PROBLEMS. THEN I STARTED TO NOTICE THE RADIO FLICKERING ON AND OFF WHILE DRIVING FOR NO REASON, WHICH EVENTUALLY LED TO THE RADIO FLICKERING CONTINUOUSLY AFTER USING BLINKERS &WINDOWS. "SERVICE STABILITRAK" FLASHES ON THE DISPLAY OFTEN BUT VERY QUICKLY AND GOES OFF. DOESN'T OCCUR EVERY TIME I DRIVE, BUT IT DOES IT MORE TIMES THAN NOT. NOW THE RADIO WILL FLICKER AND I WILL OCCASIONALLY LOSE CRUISE CONTROL AND POWER STEERING. I ALSO HAVE NO BLINKERS/RADIO WHEN THIS HAPPENS. IT USUALLY ONLY HAPPENS BRIEFLY AND WILL RETURN TO NORMAL SOON AFTER, BUT IT CONTINUES TO DO IT OFF AND ON UNTIL I PARK. I HAVE ALSO NOTICED THIS OCCURRING WHEN I SHIFT GEARS TO PARK. MOST RECENTLY I WENT TO START MY CAR AND IT JUST CLICKED AND WOULDN'T START. I GOT IT TO START AND IT SAID "SERVICE ANTI THEFT DETERRENT," THEN CHANGED TO "SERVICE POWER STEERING" JUST AS I LOST POWER STEERING WHILE DRIVING. "SERVICE STABILITRAK QUICKLY FLASHED NEXT ALL WHILE I LOST BLINKERS, POWER STEERING, AND RADIO. I PARKED, TURNED MY CAR OFF AND RESTARTED IT AND IT WAS JUST FINE. IT HAS BEEN TO THE CHEVY DEALER MULTIPLE TIMES BUT THEY CANNOT GET A CODE TO READ BECAUSE THEY CAN'T GET THE RADIO TO FLICKER, ETC BECAUSE IT ONLY HAPPENS EVERY SO OFTEN BUT WHEN IT DOES HAPPEN IT IS SCARY! SO THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO TO FIX IT. PLEASE LOOK INTO IT AS I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR 2 MONTHS NOW AND I DO NOT FEEL LIKE THIS CAR IS RELIABLE WHICH IS THE REASON I BOUGHT IT! THERE HAS TO BE SOMETHING THAT CAN BE DONE AS I HAVE READ SEVERAL COMPLAINTS THAT ARE EXTREMELY SIMILAR TO MINE! I ALSO HAVE COME TO THE CONCLUSION THAT THE PROBLEMS ARE GOING TO CONTINUE TO WORSEN AFTER READING THE OTHER COMPLAINTS.IT IS A MAJOR PROBLEM. THE CONTACT CALLED A LOCAL DEALER: NORTH BRANCH CHEVROLET LOCATED AT 38420 TANGER DR NORTH BRANCH MN 55056. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND OPENED CASE # 8-316800 BUT DID NOT OFFER ANY FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 CHEVROLET CRUZE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING SUDDENLY MALFUNCTIONED CAUSING THE STEERING WHEEL TO BECOME VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN. ADDITIONALLY, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS UNABLE TO BE CONTROLLED AS THE STEERING WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 CHEVROLET CRUZE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD MAKE A VERY LOUD SQUEALING NOISE WHEN ENGAGING THE BRAKES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE SHOE KIT AND REAR PASSENGER BRAKE DRUM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE REMEDY FAILED TO ADDRESS THE PROBLEM. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 9,700 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 10,765.

THE VEHICLE DID NOT STOP WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS FULLY APPLIED, CAUSING THE CONTACT TO CRASH INTO THE REAR OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED OF THE INCIDENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER BUT NO DIAGNOSES WAS PROVIDED. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 13V36000(SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC) BUT DID NOT CONFIRM IF THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THIS FAILURE PERSISTED INTERMITTENTLY OVER A PERIOD OF ONE YEAR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 19,000. UPDATED 8/19/14*CN THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE'S TRUNK EXTERIOR MANUAL LATCH WOULD NOT OPEN THE TRUNK AND THE STEERING WHEEL AIR BAG IS ON RECALL. I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK, ABOUT 15 MILES ON THE FREEWAY AT THE SPEED LIMIT WHICH IS 75 MPH. THE CAR WITH NO WARNING COMPLETELY SHUT ITSELF OFF. AS A RESULT, I LOST THE ABILITY TO STEER OR BRAKE. I WOULD ESTIMATE IT STAYED OFF FOR APPROXIMATELY 5 SECONDS BEFORE KICKING BACK ON, WITHOUT MY HAVING TO RESTART. I TREATED THIS AS AN ANOMALY. LAST WEEK ON MY WAY TO WORK, WHICH IS IN THE DARK AT 3AM, IT SHUT ITSELF OF 3 TIMES WITHIN 10 MILES OF A 70 MILE DRIVE. EACH TIME GIVING ME A SERVICE INDICATOR LIGHT OF SOME SORT ( SERVICE STABILITRAK, SERVICE ANTI THEFT...) I HAD NO STEERING, NO BREAKS AND NO LIGHTS. AGAIN THIS IS IN THE DARK!! I NOTICED THAT THERE ARE 43 OTHER COMPLAINTS OF THIS VERY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE WITH NO RESOLUTION FROM THIS SITE , THE DEALERSHIPS OR THE MANUFACTURER. IS IT GOING TO TAKE A DEATH OR HORRIFYINGLY BAD ACCIDENT TO GET THIS ADDRESSED??? *TR
RADIO FLASHED ON AND OFF AND ALL BRAKE LIGHTS ON DASH WOULD LIGHT UP. SERVICE STABILITY CONTROL NOTICE WOULD APPEAR. THEN IT WOULD GO AWAY AND REAPPEAR. DID THIS FOR AN ENTIRE HOUR AND A HALF RIDE ON HIGHWAY. RADIO ON RADIO OFF DASHBOARD LIGHTS ON AND OFF. BLINKER NO LONGER CLICKED WHEN USED... DISCONCERTING TO DRIVE A CAR WITH SUCH PROBLEMS. A WEEK EARLIER I HAD CAR ISSUES COVERED UNDER POWER TRAN WARRANTY... AND NOW THIS...ALL AFTER A MASSIVE RECALL ANNOUNCED. THINK GM NEEDS TO RE LOOK AT ALL OF THEIR CARS... *TR

I HAVE HAD MANY INSTANCES WHERE I HAVE ALMOST HIT OTHER CARS OR OBJECTS. I AM EXTREMELY WORRIED ABOUT THIS BECAUSE I USUALLY HAVE MY 2 YOUNG CHILDREN WITH ME WHEN THIS HAPPENS. RECENTLY, MY WIFE NOTICED THE RADIO WOULD CUT OFF AND A MONTH AGO SHE TOLD ME ABOUT AN ISSUE DEALING WITH THE STEERING. SHE SAID IT WOULD GET HARD TO CONTROL AND SOMETIMES ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE. PURCHASED THE CAR ON 28 APRIL 2014 FROM KNOX FORD IN RADCLIFF, KY. NOTICED A FAINT BURNING SMELL. WAS ADVISED THAT I RODE THE CLUTCH DURING THE TEST DRIVE. HAD THE CAR CHECKED OUT AND WAS ADVISED IT WAS GOOD TO GO. THE CAR WAS DELIVERED ON 30 APRIL. IT WAS FINALLY DRIVEN ON 5 MONDAY 2014 DOWN TO FORT CAMPBELL, KY. AT THAT POINT THE CAR REEKED OF BURNING CERAMIC AND THE POWER STEERING LOCKED UP COMPLETELY. AFTER RESTING IT FOR A FEW MINUTES AND RESTATING THE CAR, IT REENGAGED. CONTACTED DEALER AND WAS ADVISED TO GO TO LOCAL CHEVY DEALER FOR ASSESSMENT. CHEVY DEALER ADVISED THAT THE POWER STEERING MODULE WAS READING THAT IT WAS OUT OF CENTER AND DISENGAGING. WAS ALSO ADVISED THAT A PART OF THE CLUTCH ASSEMBLY HAD BEEN REPLACED A FEW THOUSAND MILES PREVIOUSLY AND SEEMED TO BE RUBBING INCORRECTLY. KNOX FORD ADVISED ME TO RETURN THE CAR TO THEIR DEALERSHIP (120 MILES AWAY) AND THEY WOULD WORK ON THE CAR. UPON LEAVING THE OTHER DEALERSHIP, THE POWER STEERING LOCKED UP AGAIN AND DIDN'T REENGAGE. DROVE THE CAR 120 MILES WITHOUT POWER STEERING AND RETURNED TO KNOX FORD TO HAVE THEM TAKE TO TO A CHEVY DEALERSHIP. THE POWER STEERING MODULE WAS REPLACED AND THE CAR ALIGNED. THE CHEVY DEALER COULDN'T FIND AN ISSUE WITH THE CLUTCH. RECLAIMED THE CAR ON 16 MAY 2014 AND DROVE THE CAR BACK DOWN TO FORT CAMPBELL TODAY 19 MAY 2014. ONCE AGAIN, THE BURNING SMELL HAS RETURNED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION PRIOR TO DISCOVERING THAT THE POWER VACUUM ASSEMBLY WAS FAULTY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND STATED THE VIN DID NOT QUALIFY UNDER THE RECALL DUE TO THE DATE OF MANUFACTURE, AND BECAUSE THE VEHICLE EXCEEDED THE THREE YEAR 36,000 MILE WARRANTY. CALLED CARMAX AND THOUGH THE WARRANTY WAS WAS OVER THEY AGREED TO REPAIT BECAUSE OF A BRAKE RECALL. THEN A COUPLE WEEKS LATER THERE WAS A LEAK AND FORD HAD TO REPLACE A COOLANT PUMP. THE CAR NEVER RAN THE SAME. THE CAR PUTTERS AND HAS HORRIBLE ACCELERATION AND I HAVE CONTACTED FORD AND CARMAX DEALERSHIP AND COORP FOR HELP AT THE SAME TIME ALL THE CRUZES WERE TAKEN OFF THE LOTS AND WERE NO LONGER ALLOWED TO BE SOLD BECAUSE OF ALL THE RECALLS AND THEY WERE DEEMED UNSAFE TO DRIVE. I AM A SINGLE MOM WITH A TEENAGE DAUGHTER AN I AM AFRAID TO LET HER DRIVE THIS CAR, THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL DEATHS ATTRIBUTED TO THE CHEVY CRUZES. I HAVE LEFT SEVERAL VOICEMAILS WITH GM MY CASE # IS C7269752 WITH FIRST RESPONDER..WHAT DOES THAT MEAN ANYWAY? THE GM AT CARMAX IN TINLEY PARK ARGUED WITH ME FOR 15 MINUTES ABOUT WHO IF I SPOKE TO HIM ONCE OR TWICE INSTEAD OF DEALING WITH THE REAL ISSUE, THE SOLD ME, A SINGLE MOTHER A CAR WITH BAD BRAKES! I ALMOST WENT INTO DOWN INTO A 6 LANE EXPRESSWAY WHEN THE BRAKES DIDNT WORK! I WOULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. ITS BEEN A COUPLE MONTHS NOW AND NO ONE HAS FOLLOWED UP AT ALL. THE SNOW WILL SOON BEGIN AND I AM SCARED TO DEATH TO DRIVE. PLEASE CAN SOME ONE HELP. *TR
I PURCHASED A USED CHEVY CRUZE, PREVIOUS RENTAL, FROM THE CHEVY DEALER ABOUT A MONTH AGO. WITHIN THE PAST WEEK I BEGAN TO HAVE INTERMITTENT ELECTRICAL ISSUES, WHICH STARTED WITH THE RADIO PANEL LIGHT FLASHING ON AND OFF AND THE RADIO WOULD ALSO TURN OFF FOR SEVERAL MINS AT A TIME. TODAY THE ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS PROGRESSED GREATLY, IMPACTING THE POWER STEALING AND I LOST POWER STEERING COMPLETELY WHILE DRIVING. IN ADDITION, MULTIPLE WARNING SIGNALS BEGAN TO FLASH: POWER STEERING, STABILINK, BRAKES AND SECURITY TRACTION CONTROL. THIS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING, THANKFULLY I WAS GOING AT A VERY LOW SPEED OTHERWISE THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A POTENTIAL SERIOUS AND DANGEROUS SITUATION AS I BRIEFLY LOST CONTROL OF THE CAR AND ALMOST CRASHED AT 10MPH (OR LESS.) THANKFULLY I WAS ALREADY ON MY WAY TO THE DEALER (1 MILES AWAY) FOR AN APPOINTMENT FOR SERVICING THAT I HAD PREVIOUSLY SCHEDULED DUE TO THIS ISSUE. ONCE I GOT TO THE DEALER THEY WERE ABLE TO SEE THE ISSUES FIRST HAND. I TURNED OFF THE CAR AND THEN THIS CAR COMPLETELY DIED. I LEFT THE CAR AT THE DEALER AND HOPE THIS ISSUE IS RESOLVED AND THE CAR IS SAFE TO DRIVE. HONESTY, I AM VERY NERVOUS TO DRIVE THE CAR IN FEAR THAT THE CAR IS UNSAFE AND THESE ISSUES WILL CONTINUE. *TR
OUR 2012 CHEVY CRUZE STARTED WITH THE RADIO TURNING "OFF" AND "ON" ON ITS OWN THE MONTH AFTER WE BOUGHT THE CAR. A MONTH LATER IT HAPPENED AGAIN AS WELL AS LEFT MY WIFE STRANDED AT A STORE. CAR DIDN'T WANT TO TURN ON. I FIGURED IT MAY HAVE BEEN A BAD BATTERY. BEFORE I COULD EVEN "JUMP" THE VEHICLE, THE CAR GOT ALL POWER BACK ON WITH NO PROBLEM. THE 3RD TIME RADIO TURNED OFF AND ON ITS OWN AND THEN SHUT DOWN COMPLETELY WITH NO POWER TO VEHICLE AT THE SAME STORE NEAR MY WIFE'S WORK. I NOTICED NOTHING ELECTRICAL WORKED IN THE CAR, LIKE HAZARD LIGHTS, BRAKE LIGHTS, AND ANYTHING THAT SHOULD HAVE 12 VOLT CONSTANT POWER. I NOW CARRY A MULTIMETER IN THE CAR. ON A 400 MILE DRIVE ON THE HIGHWAY I EXPERIENCE THE RADIO ISSUE AS WELL AS "STABILITRAC", AND MANY OTHER MALFUNCTION LIGHTS DISPLAYING ON AND OFF ON MY DASH WHILE DRIVING 75 MPH. I EVEN RECORDED THIS WHILE DRIVING. MY FAMILY AND I WERE ON VACATION AND WHILE DRIVING I LOST POWER STEERING THEN THE CAR SHUT DOWN AND LEFT US STRANDED WITH NO POWER AGAIN. WAIT ABOUT 10 TO 15 MINUTES, THE CAR WILL RETURN BACK TO NORMAL LIKE NOTHING HAPPENED. TOOK IT STRAIGHT TO THE DEALER RIGHT AT THAT MOMENT AND THEY COULDN'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEMS. RETURNED HOME FROM VACATION AND IT ALL HAPPENED AGAIN IN TRAFFIC WHILE DRIVING. MY WIFE AND KIDS WERE IN THE CAR. I CALLED FOR A TOW TRUCK AND TOWED IT TO THE CHEVY DEALERSHIP IN TOWN. I LEFT IT WITH THEM FOR 4 DAYS AND THEY STILL COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR. THIS CAR STILL CONTINUES TO TURN OFF TO THIS DAY AND I'VE ONLY HAD THE CAR FOR 6 MONTH NOW. I WON'T LET MY FAMILY IN THIS CAR. I HAVE ALSO EXPERIENCED THE DOOR LOCKS, LOCK AND UNLOCK ON ITS OWN AND THE WIPERS ACTIVATED ON THERE OWN. NOT SURE WHETHER IT COULD BE A BAD ECU, BCM, ELECTRICAL HARNESS, FUSE BOXES. THE ECU WAS REPROGRAMMED AT THE 2000 MILES FOR AN UNKNOWN REASON. WISH I HAD BOUGHT A DIFFERENT CAR INSTEAD OF THIS LEMON. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 CHEVROLET CRUZE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE TRAVELING VARIOUS SPEEDS, A FIRE STARTED IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 47,000.
SIMILAR ISSUE TO THE PREVIOUS BRAKE RECALL TO WHICH REPAIR WAS COMPLETED ON THIS VEHICLE MONTHS PRIOR TO THESE INCIDENTS. THE BRAKE PEDDLE ON THE CAR WOULD BECOME MUCH HARDER THAN ANTICIPATED MULTIPLE TIMES, MOSTLY WHEN FIRST STARTING THE VEHICLE OR REVERSING FROM A PARKING SPOT, HAD SEVERAL NEAR MISS ACCIDENTS AT LOW SPEEDS, OVER THE COURSE OF SEVERAL MONTHS. THE DEALERSHIP CLAIMED THAT IT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE RECALL THAT REPLACED THE MICROSWITCH IN THE POWER BRAKE VACUUM PIPE ASSEMBLY. RATHER THEY REPLACED THE BRAKE VACUUM BOOST HOSE ASSEMBLY, CLAIMING THAT WAS WHERE THE PROBLEM ORIGINATED FROM AND HAD NOTHING AT ALL TO DO WITH THE MICROSWITCH EVEN THOUGH THE RECALL WAS FOR VERY SIMILAR PROBLEM. *TR
CAR DRIVES FINE BUT INTERIOR LIGHTS GO OUT RADIO STARTS BLINKING AND SERVICE STABILITRAK, SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL, SERVICE ANTITHEFT, AND SERVICE POWER STEERING LIGHTS COME ON THE DASH. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY REPLACED THE BCM. THIS DID NOTHING 4 DAYS LATER IT ALL STARTED AGAIN. AFTER TURNING THE CAR OFF EVERYTHING RESETS. ON SOME OCCASIONS THE ANTITHEFT STOPS THE CAR FROM STARTING BACK UP I HAVE TO LEAVE THE CAR SIT WITH THE KEY ON ENGINE OFF FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES THEN IT WILL START. THERE IS NO LOSS OF POWER IN THE ENGINE AND ALL THE GAUGES STILL WORK. WHEN I APPLY THE BRAKES THIS HAPPENS, OR WHEN I TRY TO ROLL DOWN THE WINDOW, OR EVEN WHEN IM JUST CRUISING DOWN THE STREET WITHOUT AND CHANGING SPEED OR ANYTHING IN THE CAR. *TR
