DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY @ 65 MPH OUR 2013 CHEVY CRUZE DIED SUDDENLY. AS WE COASTED, I TRIED STARTING IT AND IT STARTED AND WE CONTINUED. A FEW MINUTES LATER IT DID THE SAME THING, WE COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, STOPPED, AND AGAIN IT RESTARTED. WE CONTINUED OUR 3 HOUR JOURNEY HOME WITHOUT ANY OTHER INCIDENTS. *TR

WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE FROM A COMPLETE STOP OR WHILE ENTERING A HIGHWAY, VEHICLE PAUSES AND DOES NOT WANT TO GO AND THEN DECIDES TO JOLT VEHICLE AND ACCELERATE RAPIDLY. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO CHEVROLET DEALER WHO STATED NO COMPUTER ISSUE WAS FOUND HOWEVER THEY DID NOT TEST DRIVE IT AS REQUESTED EITHER. *TR

WHEN THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE THE VEHICLE REPAIRED, THE DEALER STATED THAT THE PARTS WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. MY VEHICLE IS PART OF THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 14V151. THIS RIGHT FRONT AXLE PROBLEM HAS BEEN KNOWN SINCE AT LEAST MARCH 2014. I WAS NOTIFIED IN JUNE 2014 OF THE RECALL. THE DEALER STILL HAS NO PARTS TO FIX THE SUBJECT VEHICLES (EVEN ONES THAT HAVE FAILED). OTHERS LIKE ME ARE AFRAID TO DRIVE ON LONG TRIPS WITH THE KNOWN UNSAFE CONDITION. STILL OTHERS ARE AFRAID TO DRIVE THEIR VEHICLE AT ALL. THIS IS ATROCIOUS AND NEEDS TO BE DEALT WITH IMMEDIATELY. *TR

THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT REMEDY THE RECALL UNTIL AFTER TWO MONTHS BECAUSE THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
THERE ARE THREE PROBLEMS AFFECTING MY CAR. I TOOK IT IN TO THE DEALER ON JUNE 7, 2014. MY CAR WAS EXPERIENCING THE FAN TURNING ON ABRUPTLY AND PICKING UP ALL TYPES OF DEBRIS FROM UNDER THE CAR, THE AC ALSO BEGAN BLOWING HOT AIR, AND THE THERMOMETER TO MEASURE OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE WAS NOT ACCURATE. THEY IDENTIFIED ALL THREE PROBLEMS. THE AC AND FAN WERE LINKED TO THE COMPRESSOR NOT WORKING, AND THE THERMOMETER NEEDED AN UPDATE. I WAS TOLD THEY DID THE UPDATE AND THAT THEY WOULD HAVE TO SPECIAL ORDER THE COMPRESSOR AND WOULD CALL ME WITHIN 3 DAYS TO COME BACK SO THEY COULD INSTALL IT. WE ARE AT THE END OF THE MONTH AND I HAVE YET TO RECEIVE A CALL I HAVE CALLED THEM TWICE ALREADY AND THEY DO NOT HAVE AN ANSWER AS TO WHEN THE PART WILL ARRIVE. THE THERMOMETER IS STILL NOT WORKING, I HAVE NO AC. I AM DISAPPOINTED AS ALL THIS IS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND I AM STUCK WITH A CAR WITH NO AC WHICH IS PRETTY BAD CONSIDERING WE ARE IN THE SUMMER MONTHS, I AM AFRAID TO HAVE MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR WITH ME IF I HAVE TO DRIVE ON THE FREEWAY BECAUSE I CANNOT ROLL THE WINDOWS DOWN AND THE TEMPERATURE IN THE CAR BECOMES TOO HOT. *TR
OVER 30 DAYS AGO I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR MY CAR. THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO THE CHEVY GARAGE TO BE FIXED BUT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. I DROVE THIS CAR FOR 30 DAYS WITH A BAD AXLE AND THE GARAGE KNEW THIS. I WAS STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT AT A BUSY INTERSECTION AND WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN I PROCEEDED TO GO BUT MY CAR ONLY DRIFTED THROUGH THE INTERSECTION. IT SOUNDED LIKE THE ENTIRE FRONT END FELL OUT FROM UNDER THE CAR. I HAD MY 6 MONTH OLD GRANDDAUGHTER WITH ME WHILE I WAS GOING TO PICK UP MY 6 YEAR OLD GRANDDAUGHTER FROM SCHOOL. WE SAT RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION WHILE PEOPLE DROVE BY SWEARING AND SIGNING TO ME UNTIL 3 KIND GENTLEMEN PUSHED ME OUT OF THE WAY. THE CHEVY GARAGE CAME AND PICKED ME AND MY CAR UP BUT THEY HAVE HAD MY CAR FOR 3 WEEKS NOW BECAUSE PARTS ARE UNAVAILABLE AND THEY DON'T KNOW WHEN THEY WILL RECEIVE THEM. *TR

THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTIFICATION FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 14V151000 (POWER TRAIN) AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE CURRENTLY REMAINED AT THE DEALER DUE TO THE REMEDY PART NOT BEING AVAILABLE TO PERFORM THE REPAIR. THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN AT THE DEALER FOR SIXTY CONSECUTIVE DAYS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
GM HAS A RECALL OUT ON THE 2013 - 2014 CHEVY CRUZE MODELS FOR THE DEFECTIVE PART ON THE RIGHT FRONT END AXLE, THEY HAVE HAD MY CHEVY CRUZE IN THEIR SERVICE DEPARTMENT SINCE MAY 12TH, 2014 WHEN THEY DID THE RECALL INSPECTION. THEY ARE UNABLE TO RELEASE THE VEHICLE BACK TO ME BECAUSE THEY WOULD BE LIABLE IF SOMETHING HAPPENED TO ME. THEY DO NOT HAVE THE PARTS, OR DO THEY HAVE A TIME FRAME AS TO WHEN THE PARTS WILL BE AVAILABLE. THIS HAS CAUSED A MAJOR INCONVENIENCE FOR ME, AS I AM MAKING PAYMENTS ON A BRAND NEW VEHICLE WHICH I HAVE NO ACCESS TO, DUE TO THIS RECALL. IT IS UNFAIR AS A CONSUMER THAT A CAR WAS SOLD KNOWING THAT THEY HAD A DEFECTIVE PART AND KNEW THEY HAD NO PARTS FOR THE RECALL. JUST YESTERDAY THEY ANNOUNCED ANOTHER RECALL FOR THE 2013-2014 CHEVY CRUZE MODELS FOR A DEFECTIVE AIRBAG. HAVE NOT FOUND OUT IF MY CAR IS INCLUDED IN THIS ONE OR NOT, BUT AT THIS TIME, WHO CARES, THEY STILL HAVE MY CAR FOR THE FRONT END AXLE RECALL WITH NO TIMEFRAME AS TO WHEN I WILL GET MY VEHICLE FIXED. BUY YOUR CARS BACK THAT YOU SOLD TO CONSUMERS WILLING KNOWING THIS PROBLEM. LEMON LAW UNDER THE GM NEW CAR WARRANTY. *TR

THE CONTACT ALSO INDICATED THAT IN A SEPARATE INCIDENT THE POWER STEERING MALFUNCTIONED MAKING THE STEERING WHEEL VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN. THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR WAS THE VEHICLE REPAIRED. SHORT DISTANCE LATER, RECEIVE A MESSAGE "A/C OFF DUE TO HIGH ENGINE TEMP". CALLED MY DEALERSHIP AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT THEY REPLACE THERMOSTATS IN CRUZE VEHICLES ALL OF THE TIME DUE TO THIS PROBLEM. *TR

A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES REPORTED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE REPAIRS WERE UNKNOWN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 39,000.
TRAVELING ON THE INTERSTATE ABOUT 60MPH, CAR IN FRONT OF ME SLAMMED ON THEIR BRAKES, I DID THE SAME BUT DID NOT HAVE ENOUGH TIME AS IT ONLY TOOK A SPLIT SECOND AND I HAD REAR-ENDED THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME STILL GOING APPROXIMATELY 55-60MPH. MY HEAD HIT THE STEERING WHEEL BECAUSE NO AIR BAGS EVER DEPLOYED. I SUFFERED CERVICAL STRAIGHTENING OF THE C SPINE AND STRAIN, WHICH RESULTED IN TESTS TO RULE OUT BRAIN BLEED. SEVERE HEADACHE AND SWELLING OF MY HEAD EVENTUALLY EASED 4-5 DAYS POST ACCIDENT. *TR
I WAS AT A VERY BUSY FOUR WAY STOP INTERSECTION, WHEN I ACCELERATED FROM THE STOP SIGN, I HEARD A GRINDING SOUND AND HAD NO POWER IN DRIVE OR REVERSE. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND STILL CONTINUED TO ROLL BACKWARDS. I HAD A VERY LONG LINE OF CARS IN BACK OF ME AS IT WAS 8:00 IN THE MORNING RUSH HOUR. I HAD NO CONTROL AND HAD TO TRY TO PUSH THE CAR (BY MYSELF) TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I WAS HORRIFIED AS THIS HAPPENED WITH MY BRAND NEW CAR. I HAD TO WAIT OVER AN HOUR FOR A TOW TRUCK TO TAKE THE CAR TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER CALLED ME LATER THAT DAY TO SAY THAT MY RIGHT FRONT AXEL IS BROKEN AND THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS CAR. THE DEALER THEN EXPLAINED THAT THERE ARE NO PARTS AVAILABLE TO FIX THIS PROBLEM AND I COULD BE IN A RENTAL FOR MORE THAN A MONTH. I AM EXTREMELY UPSET THAT I WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THIS RECALL AND HAD BEEN DRIVING THIS CAR WITH MY TWO CHILDREN IN IT WHILE GM KNEW ABOUT THIS FOR MONTHS. HOW IS THIS SAFE? I CAN'T PUT INTO WORDS HOW MAD I AM THAT GM PUT MY FAMILY IN THIS CAR WITH THIS SAFETY ISSUE. I'M GLAD THAT MY KIDS WERE NOT WITH ME WHEN THIS HAPPENED, BUT MY FEARS ARE THAT THIS COULD HAVE HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY WITH THEM IN THE BACK SEAT. RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER ON THE EMISSION,TOOK VECHILE TO DEALERSHIP,REPROGRAMMED EMISSION,2 WEEKS LATER ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON VECHILE WAS RUNNING FINE UNTIL RESET OF EMISSION,CALL DEALERSHIP,TOOK CAR IN FOR SECOND REPROGRAMMING,SAME ISSUE WITH ENGINE LIGHT.
I BOUGHT MY CRUZE IN NOV 2013 1.4 TURBO ENGINE, I SAW THE RECALL ON T.V. ON APR 15, CALLED MIKE CASTRUCCI MILFORD, OHIO 513-831-5460 AND ASKED ABOUT IT, I WAS LEAVING IN TWO DAYS TO DRIVE FOUR HOURS TO TAKE CARE OF MY SISTER, MY VIN NUMBER WAS CHECKED I WAS TOLD MY CAR WAS NOT INVOLVED. I FOUND OUT AT CARDINAL CHEVY DEALER IN HAZARD, THAT IT WAS, WHEN I CALLED CASTRUCCI, THEY SAID BRING MY CRUZE IN AS SOON AS I CAME HOME, THAT WAS MAY 13, MY CAR IS UNDRIVABLE, AND HAS BEEN AT CASTRUCCI SINCE THEN WAITING ON PARTS. NOW I SEE THAT OTHER CARS LIKE MINE WERE ALREADY INVOLVED, AND WERE REPAIRED WITH FAULTY PARTS, AND HAVE TO BE REPAIRED AGAIN. I WANT MY CAR FIXED OR I WANT MY MONEY BACK, I PAID CASH FOR THIS CAR AND IT HAS BEEN AT MIKE CASTRUCCI FOR TWO MONTHS!!!!! *JS
WE WERE DRIVING HOME ON A HIGHWAY AT DARK WHEN WE HIT A BLACK ANGUS BULL WHICH WAS APPROXIMATELY 1000 POUNDS. IMMEDIATELY AFTER WE HIT IT, IT ROLLED UP ONTO THE PASSENGER SIDE AND CRASHED THRU THE WINDSHIELD INJURING MYSELF (THE PASSENGER IN THE FRONT). MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING AND WE ALSO HAD TWO PASSENGERS IN THE BACK OF THE CAR BUT THEY WERE NOT INJURED. I HAD MULTIPLE FACIAL INJURIES AND GLASS CHARD INJURES AND WAS TAKEN BY AMBULANCE TO A HOSPITAL WHERE I WAS INPATIENT FOR 10 DAYS, 5 OF THOSE IN INTENSIVE CARE. THE MOST SEVERE OF MY INJURIES WERE FRACTURE OF MY ORBITAL FLOOR, FRACTURE OF MY NASAL BONE, FRACTURE OF MY MALAR AND MAXILLARY BONES, OPEN WOUND TO MY LIP AND MULTIPLE BRUISES AND CUTS. ALL FOUR OF US WERE WEARING OUR SEAT BELTS AND OUT OF 10 AIRBAGS THAT THE CAR HAD, NOT ONE WENT OFF. THE FRONT END OF THE CAR WAS SEVERELY DAMAGED AND WE LOST POWER TO THE CAR AS SOON AS WE HIT THE COW (NO FLASHERS, LIGHTS, ETC) OUR CAR WAS TOTALED AND WE NOW HAVE MULTIPLE MEDICAL BILLS TO ACCOUNT FOR. OUR CONCERN WAS THAT WE BOUGHT THE CAR NEW AND IT WAS ADVERTISED AS HAVING TEN AIRBAGS FOR SAFETY. AFTER HITTING A 1000 POUND BULL AT 60 MPH, WHY DID NOT ONE AIR BAG GO OFF? *TR
THE DRIVER WAS TRAVELING ON A TWO LANE HIGHWAY IN BALDWIN COUNTY, ALABAMA, WHEN SHE APPROACHED A RIGHT HAND CURVE (WHICH THE DRIVER WAS FULLY AWARE OF). DRIVER APPLIED BRAKES SO AS TO SLOW DOWN TO NEGOTIATE THIS CURVE, BUT WHEN THE DRIVER APPLIED THE BRAKES, THEY DID NOT RESPOND. ADDITIONALLY, THE VEHICLE APPEARED TO LOSE POWER STEERING FUNCTION. IT APPEARED THAT THE VEHICLE LOST POWER, SIMILAR IN NATURE TO THE MOST RECENT IGNITION DEFECTS ON OTHER GM VEHICLES. DUE TO LOSS OF BRAKING ABILITY, THE VEHICLE WENT STRAIGHT OFF ROADWAY AND CRASHED CAUSING SIGNIFICANT PERSONAL INJURY TO THE DRIVER. FURTHER, THE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. WE CONTACTED GM, AND AGREED TO ALLOW GM REPRESENTATIVES INVESTIGATE THE INCIDENT BY DOWNLOADING THE ESIS INFORMATION, WITH THE AGREEMENT THAT GM WOULD PROVIDE THE OWNER WITH THE RESULTS OF SAID INVESTIGATION IN A READILY UNDERSTANDABLE FORMAT. AFTER DOWNLOADING THE INFORMATION, GM DENIED ANY LIABILITY FOR THE INCIDENT, AND REFUSED TO PROVIDE THE OWNER WITH THE RESULTS OF ITS INVESTIGATION IN A FORMAT THAT WAS READILY UNDERSTANDABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS RECENTLY PURCHASED NEW, AND HAD NO PRIOR ISSUES. *TR

8:30AM ON MY WAY TO GET ON I74 HIGHWAY TO GO TO WORK..ABOUT 2 MINUTES FROM HIGHWAY. PULLED OUT OF KROGER AFTER GETTING GAS. MY CAR MADE A HORRIBLE NOISE AND THEN STOPPED ABRUPTLY. WE FINALLY PUSHED IT, IN NEUTRAL, INTO KROGER PARKING LOT WHERE I WAITED FOR TOW TRUCK..AWHILE. MY CAR WAS TOWED TO HIRLINGER CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIP CALLED ME LATER THAT DAY AND TOLD ME MY RIGHT FRONT AXLE HAD BROKEN IN HALF. MEANING THE AXLE WAS NO LONGER ATTACHED TO MY WHEEL...NOW I KNOW WHY THE ABRUPT STOP! IF IT HAD BEEN ANOTHER TWO MINUTES, OR, IF THERE HAD BEEN A CAR BEHIND ME WHEN THIS BROKE, I AND WHOMEVER COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED! THERE WAS NO WARNING..IT JUST STOPPED. WE PUSHED CAR TO SIDE OF ROAD IN NEUTRAL AND CALLED ONSTAR THIS IS THE DRIVESHAFT RECALL ISSUE ON 2013-14 CRUZE WITH 1.4 TURBO ENGINES. I WRITE BECAUSE IF THIS HAD HAPPENED ON AN INTERSTATE OR IN HEAVY TRAFFIC THE CONSEQUENCES COULD HAVE BEEN MUCH MORE DIRE. THIS CAR IS ALMOST 1 YEAR OLD AND HAS ONLY 3000 MILES ON IT. THIS DEFECT IS AS SERIOUS AS THE IGNITION SWITCH PROBLEM. THERE ARE 170000 OF THESE CARS OUT THERE WITH THIS SAME POTENTIAL ISSUE. WHEN I SPOKE WITH GM THEY INITIALLY SAID THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL ON MY VEHICLE AND THAT I SHOULD TAKE IT TO A DEALER FOR SERVICE. WHEN I INSISTED THAT THERE WAS A POWER TRAIN RELATED RECALL ON THE CAR THEY THEN SAID THAT INDEED THERE WAS A RECALL AND THAT I COULD GET IT TOWED TO A GM DEALER. MY ONLY REASON FOR WRITING NHTSA IS TO HOPEFULLY ELEVATE THIS ISSUE TO ONE OF MORE IMMEDIATE IMPORTANCE. I NOTICED AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THE CAR PULLED TO THE LEFT AND AS I APPLIED PRESSURE TO CORRECT FOR THE DRIFT THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD RELEASE SUDDENLY AND THE CAR WOULD TRACK NORMALLY FOR A SHORT TIME THEY REPEAT. WHEN THE HEATER WAS ACTIVATED, AN ODOR OF ANTIFREEZE AND FUEL EMITTED INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. EACH TIME I TOOK IT TO A DEALERSHIP THE CODE WAS CLEAR AND THEY WEREN'T ABLE TO FIND OUT WHAT WAS WRONG. I GOT CHARGED FOR $180 FOR CHECKING UP AND NOT HAVING A PROBLEM ONCE. ALL THE OTHER TIMES I BROUGHT IN THE VEHICLE THEY FOUND SOMETHING WRONG AND DIDN'T CHARGE ME. FINALLY OVER THE COUPLE YEARS I OWNED THE VEHICLE AND NOW AT 80K MILES, THE SERVICE STABILITRAK LIGHT HAD BEEN COMING ON MORE AND MORE, I FINALLY GOT IT TO COME ON AND GOT AN APPOINTMENT RIGHT AWAY. I TOOK IT IN AND THEY TOOK 2 DAYS TO FIND OUT THAT ALL MY SPARK PLUGS AND MY COIL PACK WAS RUSTED AND CORRODED. IT COST $700. I LIVE IN CALIFORNIA THERE IS NO SALT ON THE ROADS AND I DON'T LIVE BY THE OCEAN. THIS SHOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED.
