TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2013 CHEVROLET CRUZE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE DRIVER LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND CRASHED INTO A GUARDRAIL CAUSING SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE TO THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. DURING THE CRASH, THE DRIVER SUSTAINED A RIGHT HIP INJURY, THE FRONT PASSENGER SUSTAINED A RIGHT ARM, RIGHT HIP, AND RIGHT KNEE INJURY. THE REAR PASSENGER SEAT OCCUPANT SUSTAINED A MINOR HEAD INJURY. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS NOT RECEIVED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 37,000.
MY DAUGHTERS CHEVY CRUISE POWER STEERING LIGHT CAME ON AND IT BECAME DIFFICULT FOR IT TO STEER. SHE TURNED IT OFF AND IT WORKED FINE. SHE MADE APPOINTMENT AT DAY CHEVROLET IN MONROEVILLE AND THEY COULD NOT FIND A PROBLEM. ALSO, THEY SAID THAT THEY HAD NEVER HEARD OF SUCH A PROBLEM. AFTER SHE LEFT IT HAPPENED AGAIN. AIRBAG INFORMATION LIGHT SAYS 'AIRBAG OFF' WHEN MY 105-POUND WIFE OCCUPYS THE SEAT. THE LOCAL DEALER TELLS ME YOU HAVE TO WEIGH 130 POUNDS TO ACTIVATE THE AIRBAG.

MY CRUZE DIED ON THE RESTAURANT PARKING LOT IN THE MIDLE OF THE BUSY FRIDAY. CAME OUT TO DRIVE , PUT THE KEY IN TO THE IGNITION, TURNED TO START AND "BOOM" EVERYTHING WENT OUT. NO POWER WAS COMMING TO ANY LITTLE OR VITAL COMPONENT OF THE CAR! CHECKED THE BATTERY - WAS GOOD! TRYED TO PULL THE KEY OUT - NO WAY! IT WAS ALMOST LIKE GLUED INSIDE THE IGNITION LOCK! EVERYTHING REMAINED DARK FOR SOME TIME, I COULD NOT RETRIVE A SINGLE SIGNAL SO HAD TO TOW TO NEAREST CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP. NO WORD ON IT YET!

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (LOWEST PRICE TRANSPORTATION NETWORK IN PLANTATION, FL) WHERE THE TECHNICIAN REFERRED THE VEHICLE TO AN UNKNOWN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO REPAIR THE AIR BAG ISSUE; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. ADDITIONALLY, THE CYLINDER HEAD GASKET BLEW UP. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A CHEVROLET DEALER IN BELLEGLADE, FLORIDA WHERE THE ENGINE WAS REPAIRED AFTER TWO MONTHS. THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO THE BANK. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 100,000.
WE HAVE APPROXIMATELY 28000 MILES ON OUR 2013 CHEVROLET CRUZE. TODAY, WE WERE RETURNING FROM A TRIP TO SEE FAMILY ABOUT 70 MILES AWAY AND SUFFERED A TIRE FAILURE. THE TIRE RIPPED IN THE SIDEWALL. I REPLACED IT WITH THE SPARE AND DRIVE CAREFULLY AVOIDING HIGHWAYS ON THE ROUTE HOME. UPON ARRIVING, I PROMPTLY CHECKED THE OTHER TIRES. I ALSO SEE SIGNS OF A SIMILAR SIDEWALL FAILURE BEGINNING ON THE OTHER FRONT TIRE! I LUCKILY NOTICED THE TIRE PRESSURE DROPPING AND AVOIDED A BARI ONE BLOWOUT. AFTER SEEING THE OTHER FRONT TIRE I REALIZE WE ARE LUCKY TO HAVE MADE IT HOME AND THE CAR IS PARKED UNTIL MONDAY WHEN I CAN CALL GOODYEAR AND CHEVROLET. WE WERE TRAVELING WITH OUR 7 MONTH OLD SON. I CAN'T BELIEVE THE WE RISKED HIS LIFE WITH THESE TIRES! A QUICK WEB SEARCH SHOWED ISSUES WITH CHEVY VOLTS WITH GOODYEAR ASSURANCE FUEL MAX ALSO. A SIDEWALL ISSUE AS WELL! FRONT TURN SIGNAL BULB LENS COVERS HAVE MELTED. DEALER CLAIMS HE HASN'T SEEN PROBLEM BEFORE AND WANTS $500 TO REPLACE ENTIRE HOUSING UNIT. HAS TO BE PLENTY OF THESE PROBLEMS OUT THERE.
RADIO WILL SHUT OFF AND TURN BACK ON. IF BLINKER IS ACTIVATED AT TIME THE BLINKER WILL ALSO QUIT WORKING. I CAN GO AN ENTIRE TRIP WITHOUT IT DOING IT, OR IT CAN HAPPEN EVERY MINUTE OR SO REPEATEDLY IN A TRIP. THIS IS NOT SAFE. *TR

WHILE I WAS STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT ALL OF A SUDDEN I RECEIVED THE FOLLOWING WARNINGS: STABILITRAC LIGHT, SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT, THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE REDUCE ENGINE POWER WARNING. EVEN THOUGH THE WARNING STATED REDUCE ENGINE POWER, I COULDN'T DRIVE THE CAR. I TURNED THE CAR OFF TWICE, STILL NO POWER WHEN I APPLIED MY FOOT TO THE GAS PEDAL. I CALLED ON-STAR AND HAD MY CAR TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE THROTTLE BODY WAS REPLACED ON MY CAR, WHICH WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. I NOTICED FROM SEVERAL COMPLAINT SITES THAT THE INCIDENT WITH SUDDEN LOSS OR REDUCED ENGINE POWER IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE CRUZE. I'M A LITTLE AFRAID TO DRIVE MY CAR NOW FOR FEAR THAT THE INCIDENT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN AT A BUSY INTERSECTION. I HOPE THE PROBLEM WITH MY CAR IS RESOLVED WITH THE REPLACEMENT OF THE THROTTLE BODY. *TR
I BOUGHT MY 2013 CRUZE IN JUNE 2014, WITH AROUND 40K MILES ON IT. IN SEPTEMBER THE CAR BEGAN HAVING ISSUES. AT FIRST IT WAS JUST THAT THE RADIO AND ALL DASH LIGHTS WOULD SHUT OFF. THEN I HAD MULTIPLE SERVICE LIGHTS THAT WOULD FLASH RANDOMLY. THOSE INCLUDED STABILITRAK, TRACTION CONTROL, POWER STEERING AND SECURITY SYSTEM. AT ONE POINT, WHILE DRIVING IN A PARKING LOT, MY POWER STEERING COMPLETELY LOCKED UP. MY CAR EVENTUALLY STOPPED STARTING. I WAS STRANDED AT SCHOOL AND HAD TO CALL A TOW TRUCK. WHEN THIS HAPPENED, MY KEY ACTUALLY GOT STUCK IN THE IGNITION. I WAS ABLE TO JUMP THE CAR AFTER SEVERAL MINUTES OF TRYING, BUT IT WOULD NOT KEEP POWER. I HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP, BUT THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT (NO CODES EVEN CAME UP ON THE COMPUTER) AND IT RAN JUST FINE FOR THEM. I DROVE THE CAR HOME, AND THE NEXT DAY HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. THIS TIME AFTER ABOUT 30 MINUTES OF TRYING TO GET THE CAR TO START, IT DID, SO I DROVE IT STRAIGHT TO A CHEVY SHOP. AGAIN, THEY COULDN'T FIND ANY CODES, BUT SAID THEY REPLACED SOME WIRING AND CLEARED THE COMPUTER. I DIDN'T HAVE ANYMORE PROBLEMS UNTIL LAST WEEK, WHEN IT ALL STARTED HAPPENING AGAIN. I'VE HAD THE POWER STEERING LOCK UP ON ME IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION! THE WEIRD THING IS, WHEN MY CAR DOESN'T WANT TO START, ALL I HAVE TO DO IS USE THE LITTLE ELECTRICAL KNOB THAT MOVES THE DRIVERS SIDE SEAT BACK AND FORTH, AND EVERYTHING FIRES UP. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WHENEVER THE VEHICLE WAS ON AN INCLINE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS EQUIPPED WITH A SECOND GENERATION TRANSMISSION WHICH EXHIBITED THE CHARACTERISTICS THAT WERE NORMAL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 11,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
I WAS DRIVING HOME AND HIT AN 8 POINT BUCK THAT WEIGHED ABOUT 180LBS HEAD ON THAT CAUSED DAMAGE FROM THE MIDDLE FRONT CENTER OF THE CAR EXTENDING TO THE DRIVERS SIDE OF THE CAR AND SMASHING UP INTO THE MOTOR. THE INSTRUMENT PANEL IMMEDIATELY ILLUMINATED TO SERVICE AIRBAG BUT THE AIRBAG NEVER DEPLOYED. I WAS TOLD IF I WAS GOING SLOWER, THE DEER WOULD HAVE WENT THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD. I COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY HURT SINCE THE AIRBAG DIDN'T DEPLOY. I BOUGHT THIS CAR BRAND NEW WITH ONLY 17 MILES ON IT. I HAVE DRIVEN IT FOR 2 YEARS AND NOW HAVE TO WONDER IF MY FAMILY AND I WERE PUT AT RISK FOR THE LAST TWO YEARS, WHILE TRAVELING TO OHIO, FROM IOWA AND OUT TO BOISE 3 TIMES. OF COURSE I WILL BE TOLD THERE IS NOTHING WRONG AND THE CAR WILL BE REPAIRED, AND I WILL BE FORCED TO CONTINUE DRIVING A CAR THAT I WON'T REALLY FEEL SAFE IN BECAUSE I WON'T KNOW FOR SURE IF THE AIRBAG SYSTEM IS FIXED, AND WILL WORK RIGHT IF THIS UNFORTUNATELY WILL EVER HAPPEN AGAIN. MY VEHICLE WAS NOT FILED IN THE RECALL LIST BUT HAS THE SAME ISSUE AS A DRIVE TRAIN RECALL (13V452000). MY VEHICLE WHEN SHIFTING GEARS COMPLETELY LOST POWER AND NO LONGER GOES INTO 5TH OR 6TH GEAR. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP LIKE GM ASKED ME BUT UNFORTUNATELY THEY INFORMED ME THAT MY CLUTCH WAS NOT COVERED. TO ME THIS IS A BIG SAFETY ISSUES THAT COULD HAVE RESULTED IN MY FAMILY AND I BEING SERIOUSLY INJURED IF I WAS IN A DIFFERENT SITUATION. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE MY VEHICLE BE FIXED LIKE ALL THE OTHER VEHICLES THAT WAS RECALLED WITH THIS SAME ISSUES, I DON'T SEE WHY IF THE ISSUES ISN'T DIFFERENT WHY MY VEHICLE SHOULD BE EXCLUDED. *JS

WHEN I BACKED UP THE CAR, IT PULLED THE DRIVERS SIDE BUMPER AWAY FROM THE FRONT END. ALSO, AN ENGINE LIGHT GOES ON WHEN THE WINDOW DEFROSTER IS ON, STATING THAT THE AC IS BEING SHUT OFF (AC IS NOT ON, THE HEATER IS) AND SHUTS DOWN THE HVAC SYSTEM. *TR

WHILE DRIVING MY CAR WITH THE HEATER ON AND THE DIAL SET AT HIGH THE CAR DEVELOPED A HORRIBLE ANIT FREEZE SMELL. IT WAS SO BAD I HAD TO OPEN THE WINDOWS TO GET THE SMELL OUT OF THE CAR. IT DID NOT HELP WHEN I TURNED THE HEATER TO A LOWER SETTING. THIS PROBLEM SEEMS TO OCCUR MORE OFTEN WHEN THE HEATER IS SET ON HIGH. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER BECAUSE I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM CHEVY STATING THERE MAY BE A PROBLEM WITH A COOLENT LEAK AROUND THE WATER PUMP. THEY SAID THEY FOUND A LEAKING RETURN HOSE THAT GOES TO THE TANK AND REPLACED IT. IT DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. I STILL SMELL ANTIFREEZE AND SOMETIMES IT IS SO BAD IT MAKES ME FEEL SICK. ON JUNE 28, 2014, I BROUGHT MY CHEVY CRUZE TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR A SAFETY RECALL INSPECTION (N140079) TO INSPECT THE FRONT AXLE RIGHT HALF SHAFT. I WAS TOLD MY VEHICLE DID NOT HAVE A FAULTY AXLE AND NO FURTHER ACTION WAS REQUIRED. THEN ON OCTOBER 20, 2014, AS I WAS EXITING A HIGHWAY OFF RAMP AND MERGING ON TO A MAIN ROAD (AT APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH) THE VEHICLE STOPPED MOVING FORWARD. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO THE SAME DEALERSHIP THAT PERFORMED THE SAFETY INSPECTION ON JUNE 28TH. THE DEALERSHIP STATED THE CV AXLE WAS BROKEN AND THE SWAY BAR LINK WAS BROKEN IN HALF. THE DEALERSHIP ADMITTED THAT THIS WAS THE SAME PART THAT WAS INSPECTED AND INVOLVED IN THE RECALL. THE DEALERSHIP STATED THAT THE TECHNICIAN WHO INSPECTED THE AXLE ON JUNE 28TH MADE A MISTAKE. THE DEALERSHIP APOLOGIZED AND ASSURED ME THAT THEY WOULD CALL IN ALL OTHER APPLICABLE CUSTOMERS TO HAVE THEIR AXLES RE-INSPECTED. *TR
I WAS ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK YESTERDAY AND WHEN I WENT TO MAKE A RIGHT TURN, THE SCREEN WENT OUT AGAIN....WHICH IS FINE. WE CAN ALL LIVE WITHOUT AUDIO AND A FANCY SCREEN IN OUR CARS, BUT AS SOON AS THE SCREEN WENT OUT THE POWER STEERING AND STABILITRAK LIGHTS BOTH CAME ON AND MY POWER STEERING COMPLETELY WENT OUT IN MY CAR WHILE I WAS TURNING. I ALMOST HIT A CONCRETE WALL AND THE CARS THAT WERE WAITING FOR THEIR TURN TO GO IN THE ONCOMING TRAFFIC LANES. IT WAS BAD ENOUGH THAT I HAD THAT ISSUE BUT OF COURSE, THERE'S MORE. WE LIVE ON AN ARMY BASE - FORT SILL, IN OKLAHOMA - WE HAVE TO STOP AT THE GATE TO GET ON BASE AND SHOW OUR IDS TO GET HOME. I STOPPED AT THE GATE AND TALKED WITH THE GUARD FOR A MINUTE, SHOWED MY ID AND WENT ON WITH MY BUSINESS.. I STARTED TO DRIVE AWAY AND MY CAR WENT CRAZY AGAIN. I LOST ALL POWER STEERING AGAIN AND ALL OF MY LIGHTS FLICKERED ON AND OFF FOR THREE MINUTES, INSIDE LIGHTS AND OUTSIDE TOO. THE CAR STARTED JERKING LIKE IT WAS TRYING TO CUT OFF, IT FINALLY STOPPED AND I MADE IT HOME BUT I REFUSE TO DRIVE THIS CAR AGAIN. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT A WEEK LATER, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START AND WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER, WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE LEFT DRIVER'S SIDE REAR PARKING ASSIST MODULE HAD WATER IN IT AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000.
COMING TO STOP LIGHT DOING ONLY 15 MPH FROM WHERE I WAS COMING FROM AND ALL ELECTRICAL WENT DOWN. I DRIVE A CHEVY CRUZE 2013 MODEL. I WENT TO THE GARAGE IN THE AM AND THE CAR WAS ATTEMPTING TO START ITSELF WITH THE KEY IN THE IGNITION. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID ALL THEY CAN DO IS WATCH IT TO SEE IF IT DOES IT AGAIN. I CALLED GM AND THEY SAID THAT IT IS EXACTLY THE SYMPTOMS THAT THEY HAVE HAD HAPPEN WITH THEIR OTHER VEHICLES AND THAT IS WHY THERE IS AN IGNITION RECALL.
