CHEVY CRUZE 2013 LTZ TURBO, I HAVE THE PAPERWORK STATING IT IS TURBO. I TOOK IT TO A DEALERSHIPS BECAUSE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I WAS TOLD IT WAS FINE. THEY CLEARED EVERYTHING. I HAVE BEEN TOLD DIFFERENT THINGS WHETHER IT HAS TURBO OR NOT. THE TURBO WAS SUPPOSEDLY CHECKED SEVERAL TIMES SINCE I BOUGHT IT. THE MECHANIC AT DEALERSHIP SAID IT DID NOT HAVE TURBO. I ASKED THE HEAD MECHANIC TO DRIVE THE CAR WITH ME IN IT. HE DID, THE HEAD MECHANIC CONVINCED ME IT HAD TURBO AND IT WAS WORKING FINE, I SAID IT DOESN'T ACT LIKE IT TO ME, HE SAID THIS IS ALL ITS GOT AND THAT'S IT, THE CAR IS FINE. THE HEAD MECHANIC SAID IT WAS FINE, I SAID SOMETHING IS NOT RIGHT, HE CONVINCED EVERYTHING WAS AND TO PUSH THE CLEAR BUTTON WHEN IT WOULD BE AND IT WOULD BE FINE. THIS HAPPENED BETWEEN 2014 AND 2018 THIS HAS HAPPENED OVER THE YEARS. I WAS TOLD TO BASICALLY TOUCH THE CLEAR BUTTON. CODES STARTED TO POP UP; IT STARTED WITH THE WINDOW. I WAS TOLD TO HIT CLEAR BUTTON WHEN THIS HAPPENS, SO I DID. THEN CHECK ENGINE CODES POP UP ON DASH SAYING: ROLE WINDOW DOWN AND BACK UP, CHECK TRANSMISSION, KEY REMOTE NOT DETECTED, START WITH REMOTE START, CHECK AIR BAGS, IT HAS DONE THIS OFF AND ON FOR A SEVERAL YEARS, OFF AND ON . NOW THIS WEEK IT GOT REALLY BAD TO THE POINT THE CAR JUST SHUTS OFF, THEN IT WILL NOT START, UNTIL I TOUCH THE CLEAR BUTTON OR I HAVE TO UNHOOK THE BATTERY OTHERWISE THE DASH WILL NOT TURN OFF AND I CAN'T START IT. I TOOK IT TO HAVE CODES CHECKED AND MASS FLOW SENSOR , THEN IT SAID VAPOR CANISTER PURGE VALVE THEN MAP SENSOR, I REPLACED ALL, THE CAR STILL ACTS THE SAME. CODES STILL APPEAR ON DASH. START THE CAR IT SEEMS OK, THEN YOU DRIVE IT AND THE ENGINE JUST SHUTS OFF AND CODES START TO APPEAR AGAIN. SHOULD THIS BE CHECKED INTO. I CAN'T FIND RECORDS, I WILL TRY, BUT I CAN TELL YOU DEALERSHIPS.
WHILE DRIVING AND IN MOTION THE VEHICLE SHUTS OFF. AFTER SHUTTING OFF THE ABS MALFUNCTIONS AND THE STEERING MALFUNCTIONS. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE NOW, BOTH ON CITY STREETS. ONCE DISABLED THE VEHICLE WILL NOT RESTART ON IT'S OWN; IT DOESN'T EVEN TURN OVER. THE VEHICLE WILL, HOWEVER, RESTART IF JUMP STARTED. THE FIRST OCCURRENCE PRESENTED WITH A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT THAT CODED AS A FAULTY CAM SHAFT SENSOR. THIS WAS REPLACED AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WENT AWAY. THE SECOND OCCURRENCE PRESENTED WITH NO LIGHTS OR WARNINGS. BOTH THE BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR WERE TESTED AND ARE FUNCTIONING.
THE OILS IS LEAKING IS THIS VEHICLE .. AND HOW IT WAS EXPLAINED IS THAT THE OIL IS ALSO LEAKING INTO THE TURBO .. WHICH IS CAUSING OIL TO BASICALLY BE PUSHED OUT INSTEAD OF AIR BEING BROUGHT IN FOR THE CAR TO GO THE CORRECT SPEED AND THE CAR IS UNDRIVEABLE
I HAVE HAD AN ISSUE WITH THE VALVE COVER GASKET NEEDING TO BE REPLACE DUE TO OIL LEAKAGE TWICE WITHIN A YEAR. I WILL START NOTICING BURT OIL SMELL ONLY ON THE INSIDE OF THE CAR THROUGH THE AIR VENTS. THERE HAVNT BEEN ANY LEAKAGE ON THE GROUND AS FAR AS I SEE. THIS CAN'T POSSIBLY BE NORMAL. I CURRENTLY HAVE TO PUT MY CAR IN THE SHOP FOR THIS ISSUE.
THE CAR SEEMS TO HAVE BEEN AFFECTED OF ONE SEVERAL ISSUES THAT HAPPENED EARLY ON IN THE PRODUCTION WITH A COOLANT LEAK SMELL PROBLEM IN THE CABIN, PARTICULARLY EVIDENT WHILE BRAKING TO A STOP. THE SMELL SEEMS TO BE LINKED TO A COOLANT LEAK IN THE HEATER CORE OR IN THE CONNECTIONS OF THE PIPES WITH THE EXCHANGER ITSELF. THIS IS DANGEROUS AS THE FUMES ARE POSSIBLY SLIGHTLY TOXIC AND, MOREOVER, IT INDICATES A LEAKAGE IN AN AREA AFTER THE FIREWALL THAT CAN LEAD TO SCALDING IF IT GETS IN CONTACT WITH A PERSON. EARLIER EVENTS ON THE CAR HAPPENED IN THE INITIAL PRODUCTION OF THE CRUZE AND TYPICALLY QUITE EARLY IN THE MILEAGE, BUT MY CAR SHOWED IT NOW AT 105000 MILES. AN IMPROVEMENT, BUT EVIDENTLY NOT A FULL FIX.
THE WINDSHIELD DEFROST DOES NOT WORK LIKE IT IS SUPPOSED TOO. WHEN I PUT IT ON DEFROST AND THE HEAT ON FULL BLAST, IT WILL ONLY HEAT THE PASSENGERS SIDE OF THE VEHICLE AND NOT THE DRIVERS SIDE OF THE VEHICLE WHICH IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN. ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE THERE IS COLD AIR COMING OUT OF THE VENTS WHICH PREVENTS THE DRIVERS SIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD TO NOT DEFROST. WHEN I DRIVE, IT ONLY SEEMS TO GET WORST SO I PULL OVER AND TRY TO SCRAPE THE ICE OFF AS BEST AS I CAN SO I CAN PROPERLY SEE. THIS IS A HUGE CONCERN WHEN IT COMES TO UPSTATE NEW YORK WINTERS, ESPECIALLY WHEN WE HAVE ICE STORMS WHICH IS WHEN I FIRST ENCOUNTERED THE ISSUE. IT FAILS TO DEFROST THE INSIDE AND OUTSIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN AS IT IMPAIRS VISIBILITY.
TRANSMISSION FAILURE AT 70,000 MILES.
THE SENSOR STATED TURN OFF THE AC DUE THE ENGINE TEMPERATURE , THE MOTOR FAN RUNS AS IF THE CAR IS RUNNING HOT
WHEN THE CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEM IS PLACED IN DEFROST MODE THE AIR DOES NOT BLOW OUT THE DEFROSTER VENTS AND THE WINDSHIELD DOES NOT CLEAR. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD ESPECIALLY IN MICHIGAN WITH ALL THE WEATHER CHANGES. THERE ARE MANY REPORTS ON LINE WITH VIDEOS OF A GEAR ON THE DEFROST DOOR STRIPPED/BROKEN, THESE REPORTS GO BACK YEARS TO CURRENT. SEEMS GM DOES NOT PLAN TO AUTHORIZE A RECALL FOR THIS SAFETY ISSUE. I CHECKED WITH LOCAL CHEVY DEALER AND CHEVY CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS TOLD THERE IS NO RECALL RELATED TO THIS ISSUE.
I BOUGHT MY CAR FROM A USED CAR LOT IN MARCH. AFTER ABOUT 2 WEEKS, I STARTED HAVING ISSUES WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL, AFTER A FEW MONTHS, THE CRUISE SWITCH HAD TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE IT STOPPED WORKING ALL TOGETHER. DURING THE TIME I'VE HAD THE VEHICLE, I'VE HAD TO REPLACE THE THERMOSTAT CONTROL, AS WELL AS A COIL IN THE ENGINE. FOR THE PAST 2-3 MONTHS OR SO, I'LL BE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND THE SERVICE STABILITY TRACK WILL SHOW UP, WITH THE TRACTION CONTROL AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT BLINKING. MY CAR WONT LET ME SPEED UP, AND IT WILL SLOWLY SLOW DOWN. IF I HAVE MY CRUISE ON WHEN THIS HAPPENS, THE CAR'S RPM WILL SHOOT UP IN AN ATTEMPT TO GET BACK TO THE SPEED I HAD IT SET AT. AFTER ABOUT A MINUTE WITH THE LIGHTS ON, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL STOP BLINKING AND THE CAR WILL GO BACK TO NORMAL (THE TRACTION LIGHT WONT TURN OFF UNTIL I TURN OFF THE CAR). I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR TO MY MECHANIC, AND HIS COMPUTER SHOWS CODE UO100, WHICH IS "LOST COMMUNICATION WITH ENGINE CONTROL MODULE", WHICH IS A VERY GENERAL CODE AND COULD COME FROM ANYWHERE. HE CANNOT FIGURE OUT WHAT IS WRONG WITH IT. THE WIRES SEEM CONNECTED PROPERLY, AND EVERYTHING SEEMS FINE, OTHER THAN THE LIGHT ISSUE. IT HAPPENS WHILE I'M DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY, AT ANY RANDOM MOMENT. IT OCCURS AT LEAST EVERY 3 DAYS, IF NOT EVERYDAY.
THE INTAKE MANIFOLD BECAME CRACKED AND I HAVE RESEARCHED IT HAS BEEN AN ISSUE FOR MANY CHEVY CRUZE BETTWEEN THE YEARS OF 2011-2014. THE VEHICLE HAS A INCREASED AIR FLOW THE RESULTS IN A POOR AIR TO FUEL MIXTUE INSIDE THE COMBUSTION CHAMBER, ALSO ALLOWS OIL TO BLOWBY. THE ISSUE WITH THE INTAKE HAS CAUSED INCREASED OIL CONSUMPTION/ BURNING, RESULTED IN A LOSS OF POWER UPON FIRST TAKE OFF FROM STOP LIGHT. THIS ISSUE HAS CAUSED THE COMPUTER TO ADJUST THE TIMING MORE THAN THE MANUFACTURER ALLOWED LIMIT WHICH HAS RESULTED IN A BENT VALVE AND BAD TIMING
WHILE DRIVING THE CAR MAKING A WEIRD NOISE WHEN ACCELERATING AND THE RPM GOES UP BUT THE CAR IS NOT UP TO SPEED. THEN SOME LOUD WEIRD NOISE HAPPENS WHEN YOU PRESS ON THE GAS. I TOOK IT TO GET DIAGNOSED AND IT SAID SOMETHING ABOUT A TURBO UNDER-BOOST.
BEEN HEARING TICKING NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON. CODE P0234
AIRBAG LIGHTS CAME ON, AIRBAG SENSOR HAS TO BE REPLACED. I PAID OVER $800 AND THE PART HAS BEEN ON ORDER FOR A MONTH!
THE LAST FEW DAYS I HAVE BEEN GETTING MESSAGES ON MY DASH WITH ERRORS SUCH AS 'SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL/SERVICE STABILITRAK'. TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR A DIAGNOSIS CHECK AND WAS TOLD NOTHING SHOWED UP. HOWEVER, THIS MORNING WHILE ON MY COMMUTE TO WORK, I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN MY CAR DECELERATED AND I GOT THE MESSAGE 'ENGINE POWER HAS BEEN REDUCED/SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL/SERVICE STABILITRAK' AND MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. BECAUSE OF THIS, I WAS FORCED TO PULL ONTO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD WHILE ALMOST BEING HIT BY OTHER VEHICLES. THIS WAS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND SCARY FOR ME BECAUSE I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT HAPPENED AND IT COULD HAVE COST ME MY LIFE, AS WELL AS OTHERS.
COOLANT IS LEAKING AND NEEDING TO BE REFILLED DAILY, SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT ON EVERYDAY. 'ENGINE HOT, CAR NEEDS TO IDLE' COMES ON ANYTIME YOU DRIVE IT. ENGINE POWERED REDUCED. AS FOR ELECTRICAL, WHILE FRONT PANEL WILL GO BLACK AND EVERYTHING WILL SHUT DOWN FOR A COUPLE HOURS OR EVEN DAYS.
I WAS SITTING IN MY VEHICLE WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING AND THE AIR CONDITIONER ON, SINCE IT IS AUGUST AND VERY HOT IN LAS VEGAS. I HAD BEEN IN MY VEHICLE FOR APPROXIMATELY FIVE MINUTES ABOUT TO LEAVE WHEN MY AIR CONDITIONER STOPPED BLOWING COLD AIR. I SMELT AN ELECTRICAL SMELL IN COMING THROUGH THE VENTS. THEN MY CAR SHUT OFF AND SMOKE BEGAN POURING OUT FROM UNDERNEATH THE HOOD. I QUICKLY EXITED MY VEHICLE AND CALLED THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. WITHIN A COUPLE MINUTES, THE ENTIRE FRONT OF MY VEHICLE WAS IN ENGULFED IN FLAMES. I HAVE NOT DONE ANY MECHANICAL MAINTENANCE OR WORK TO MY VEHICLE RECENTLY. I HAD MY OIL CHANGED APPROXIMATELY 1000 MILES AGO. I HAD NOT HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH MY VEHICLE UNTIL IT CAUGHT ON FIRE SPONTANEOUSLY AND RANDOMLY WITHOUT WARNING.
VIHICLE WAS ON FREEWAY AND HEATED UP SO BAD QUICKLY AND HAD TO PULL OVER. . LOOSES COOLANT CONSTANTLY. PART NEEDS TO BE CHANGED EVERY COUPLE OF MONTHS. IT IS HARD TO GET THE PART IN MY AREA AND NEIGHBOR CITIES BECAUSE IT HAPPENS TO A LOT TO DIFFERENT PEOPLE WITH THE SAME CAR. I AM CONSTANTLY FIXING LINES AND REPLACING COOLANT EVERY WEEK.
THE STABILITY CONTROL GOES OFF DUE TO A AIR LEAK IN THE AIR VALVE CAUSING LOSE OF STEERING POWER WHICH HAS OCCURED WHILE DRIVING THE STEERING WHEEL BECOMES IMPOSSIBLE TO STEER WHEN THIS HAPPENS
MY SERVICE AIR BAGS SENSOR IS ON AND THE AIRBAGS HAVE TURNED OFF FOR THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE CAR.
THE PASSENGER LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT HARDLY EVER WORKS AS SOON AS THE CAR IS TURNED ON THE LIGHT IS OUT , IF TAPPED OR BUMPED LIGHT WILL COME BACK ON, SUCH AS WITH YOUR HAND OR WHILE MOVING. I HAVE REPLACED BULB FEW TIMES STILL HAVING TROUBLE.
OUT OF NO WHERE THE ENGINE STARTS TO SPUTTER WHILE SITTING IN IDLE ON THE 2013 CHEVROLET CRUZE. IT IS THE VALVE COVER, LETTING IN TOO MUCH AIR TO THE FUEL SYSTEM CAUSING THE ENGINE TO SPUTTER TO TRY TO CORRECT WHICH, IF NOT TAKEN CARE OF IMMEDIATELY, CAUSES THE CRANK SHAFT TO GO BAD WHICH MAKES YOUR CAR SOUND LIKE YOU SHOULD BE ON THE JETSONS. THERE ARE A NUMBER OF THIS SAME COMPLAINT OVER THE INTERNET AND WANTED TO MAKE YOU AWARE AS I AM NOW HAVING THIS SAME ISSUE.
THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER HAS FAILED TWICE IN THIS CAR, AND THE SECOND TIME IS OUT OF WARRANTY. BOTH FAILURES OCCURRED WITHIN APPROXIMATELY 90K MILES. THE COST TO REPLACE THIS IS ABOUT $1200. THIS CAN BE FINANCIALLY DEVASTATING TO SOME FAMILIES.
A FEW WEEKS AGO, I EXPERIENCED AN ALERT REGARDING MY ENGINE OVERHEATING (AC OFF DUE TO ENGINE OVER HEAT, ENGINE OVERHEAT IDLE ENGINE). I TURNED MY CAR OFF AND ALLOWED IT TO COOL DOWN BEFORE CONTINUING MY TRAVELS HOME. ONCE I REACHED MY HOME, I SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT AT GRAND PRIZE CHEVROLET IN NANUET, NY FOR THURSDAY, JUNE 27. THE MECHANICS AT THIS DEALERSHIP FOUND THAT MY WATER PUMP AND HOSES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THIS IS A $1600 JOB, AND I PAID TO HAVE THIS WORK DONE, I WAS NOT ABLE TO PICK MY CAR UP FROM THE DEALER UNTIL JUNE 29. ABOUT TWO WEEKS LATER ON FRIDAY, JULY 12, I RECEIVED THE ENGINE OVERHEATING ALERT ONCE AGAIN. I PROMPTLY CALLED GRAND PRIZE AGAIN, AND SCHEDULED THE EARLIEST APPOINTMENT I COULD. I WAS NOT ABLE TO BRING MY CAR IN TO BE LOOKED AT UNTIL TUESDAY, JULY 16. AGAIN, THE MECHANICS AT THIS DEALERSHIP FOUND A DIFFERENT PROBLEM WITH MY CAR. THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE COOLANT TANK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED ALONG WITH THE RADIATOR CAP. I HAD BOTH OF THESE ITEMS REPLACED AT NO COST. I ASKED THEM TO TEST THE ENGINE ONCE AGAIN TO BE SURE THAT THE PROBLEM HAD BEEN RESOLVED. UPON CHECKING THE ENGINE, THEY FOUND THAT MY ENGINE WAS DAMAGED AND I WOULD EITHER NEED A NEW ENGINE HEAD OR A COMPLETELY NEW ENGINE. I WAS INFORMED THAT A NEW ENGINE HEAD WOULD COST ABOUT $4200 AND A NEW ENGINE WOULD COST ABOUT $8000.
THE TURBO BOOSTER MALIFUNCTION THE CAR WILL NOT PICK UP SPEED AND TIME WOULD STOP ALL WILL YOU ARE ACCELERATING ON THE GAS
THE CAR SAID OVERHEAT-AC OFF CODE- CAR WAS VERY LOW ON COOLANT- TOOK TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT THE ENGINE WAS BLOWN AND NOT TO DRIIVE THE CAR- I ASK ABOUT SERVICE BULLETIN- BUT WAS TOLD THIS DID NOT APPLY. I HAD PROBLEM WITH OVERHEATING 18 MONTHS AGO- REPLACED, THERMOSTAT, CANISTER, ETC AS MY EXPENSE.I ASK IF THIS WAS RELATED AND WAS TOLD NO. I RESEARCHED PROBLEMS AND FOUND MANY ABOUT ENGINE AND COOLING PROBLEMS. THE DEALER HAS MADE NO EFFORT TO HELP RESOLVE THE ISSUE. I TRIED TO HAVE CAR TRANSFERRED TO A DIFFERENT BRANCH OF DEALERSHIP TO HAVE PROBLEM EVALUATED- I WAS INFORMED BY SALESMAN THAT THE DEALER REFUSED TO TRANSFER THE CAR TO HAVE IT CHECKED. HIS SEEMS VERY ODD. I CALLED GMC- CHEVROLET DIVISION BUT HAVE NOT GOTTEN A RESPONSE. THE DEALER WANTS ME TO TRADE IN CAR FOR A DIFFERENT ONE AND WILL OFFER ME $300-$600. WHICH IS RIDICULOUS. AFTER I TRADE IN THE CAR-NO ONE CAN CHECK IT- THE CAR STILL RUNS BUT I AM AFRAID TO GET STUCK.
NEEDS BRAND NEW ENGINE. HARD TIME ACCELERATING. SHOP SAYS RODS INSIDE ENGINE ARE BEING KNOCKED AROUND. ONLY 120,000 MILES. HARD TO ACCELERATION AT ANY TIME. ENGINE LIGHT IS SIGNALED.
THE LOCKS KEEP LOCKING & UNLOCKING, SOMETIMES AFTER GETTING THE FEELING THAT THE CAR WAS BUMPED, WHICH IT WASN'T. LATELY IT ALMOST STALLS THEN ACCELERATES TOO QUICKLY & MAKES A REVVING SOUND. I'M NOT DRIVING IT RIGHT NOW. THE BUMPING & LOCKS ON & OFF HAPPEN WHILE DRIVING OR WHILE STOPPED.I CAN'T GIVE A DATE. IT'S BEEN HAPPENING FOR COUPLE OF MONTHS. THANK YOU
DROVE TO WORK IN THE MORNING AS USUAL WITH NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS, CAR SAT IN THE PARKING DURING THE DAY WENT OUT TO DRIVE HOME AT THE END OF THE DAY AND THE AIR BAG TROUBLE LIGHT IN ON. TOOK CAR THE GM DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THE CODE DIAGNOSED AND DEALERSHIP INFORMS ME THAT THE AIRBAG AND CONNECTING AIRBAG HARNESS WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO THE FACT THE AIRBAG WILL NOT RECALIBRATE AND IS NOT COMMUNICATING WITH THE COMPUTER.
MY CAR IS A DANGER THE ENGINE POWER SLOWS DOWN WHEN DRIVING CAUSING ANOTHER TO HIT IN THE BACK POWER STEERING LIGHT DISPLAYS, STABILIZE TRACT AND ENGINE POWER, I HAVE ALREADY HAD ONE HIT AND RUN ACCIDENT.I TOOK CAR TO CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP HARBISON RD COLUMBIA SC THEY JUST HALF REPAIR IT SOMEONE MAY DIE IF CAR CONTINUE TO POWER DOWN.
MULTIPLE COOLANT ISSUES. BOUGHT 2/2019, TOOK IT BACK TO THE SHOP FOR COOLANT ISSUES IN 3/2019 AND DISCOVERED ITS LEAKING COOLANT AGAIN. FROM THE ENGINE COOLANT WATER OUTLET.

GOING ONTO THE FREEWAY LOST MOST OF POWER, WHITE SMOKE PLUME THROUGH EXHAUST, ENGINE WAS RUNNING POORLY. MECHANIC HAD TO REPLACE MY ENGINE AT 134,040 MILES.
CAR HAS LEAKED OIL AND COOLANT SINCE I GOT IT. CONSTANTLY OVER HEATS. LOSS OF POWER. ENGINE REVS AND JUMPS. CONSTANT REPLACEMENTS NOTHING WORKS.
EXCESSIVE CONDENSATION INSIDE THE CAR. WHILE RUNNING THE AC, LOTS OF WATER COMING OUT OF VENTS AND VERY OFTEN IT QUICKLY COVERS THE WHOLE WINDSHIELD TO A STATE WHERE THERE IS 0 VISIBILITY. RECURRING ISSUE. MAJOR ISSUE. LIFE THREATENING CONDITION.
THE WINDSHIELD WIPER LINKAGE FAILED VIA A BALL JOINT FAILURE IN THE WIPER MECHANISM. THIS CAUSED THE DRIVER SIDE WIPER TO BECOME FREE MOVING, STAYING ATTACHED TO THE CAR. WHEN IT FAILED, IT WOUND UP GETTING PINNED AGAINST THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR, FORCING ME TO EXIT THE VEHICLE VIA THE PASSENGER SIDE. THIS FAILURE OCCURRED WHEN I WAS DRIVING THROUGH WESTERN MD ON INTERSTATE 68 NEAR GRANTSVILLE, MD, DURING A LIGHT SNOW AND SALTING OPERATIONS WERE UNDERWAY. I WAS USING THE WIPERS AND WASHER FLUID TO KEEP THE WINDSHIELD CLEAR OF SALT. AFTER THIS FAILURE, I USED CABLE TIES TO TIE THE LOOSE WIPER ARM TO THE ATTACHED WIPER ARM, THEREFORE DISABLING MY WIPERS UNTIL WE GOT TO OUR DESTINATION, TWO HOURS FURTHER DOWN THE ROAD. I HAD TO STOP EVERY 10-15 MINUTES TO CLEAR THE SALT OFF OF THE WINDSHIELD. I REPLACED THE PART, BUT HAVE THE OEM PART AVAILABLE FOR INSPECTION, IF REQUESTED. I NOTICED THIS SPECIFIC PART WAS RECALLED ON THE 2013 CHEVROLET EQUINOX.
DRIVING LAST NIGHT FROM WORK TO HOME AT [XXX] AROUND 7PM, I STARTED GETTING MESSAGES IN MY CLUSTER SUCH AS SERVICE STABILITRAK, SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL AND ENGINE POWER IS REDUCED. JUST SUDDENLY MY CAR LOST ALL THE POWER AND THROTTLE WHEN I WAS TRAVELLING IN A HIGHWAY AROUND 70 MPH ON THE SECOND FASTEST LANE. IT WAS VERY SCARY AND DANGEROUS SITUATION ONCE MY THROTTLE WAS COMPLETE UNRESPONSIVE AND COULD FIND MYSELF AT THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY AT 5MPH . MY INSTINCT WAS TO TURN ON THE HAZARD LIGHTS AND TRY TO MOVE THE CAR TO THE SLOWEST LANE AS SAFE AS POSSIBLE. I FEEL LUCKY THAT NO ONE HIT ME IN THE BACK AND I CONSIDER THAT I WAS LUCKY TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM AT THIS TIME OF THE EVENING. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO TAKE THE EXIT [XXX] AND FROM THERE PARK THE CAR TO EVALUATE IT. I COULD NOT FIND ANY VISIBLE DEFECT EITHER INTERNALLY OR ON ENGINE COMPARTMENT. I TURNED OFF THE ENGINE AND ON SEVERAL TIMES AND STILL HAD THE SAME CLUSTER MESSAGES AND DERATED POWER. I WAS STILL ABLE TO DRIVE THE CAR SAFELY TO THE PARKING LOT OF [XXX] LOOKING FOR A SAFER PLACE TO WAIT FOR MY INSURANCE COMPANY. WHEN WAITING FOR THE AAA OPERATOR I WAS ABLE TO RE-START THE CAR WITH NO DISPLAY MESSAGE BUT ONLY WITH THE ENGINE CHECK LIGHT ON. I DROVE THE CAR IN THE PARKING LOT AND NOTICED THE CAR SEEMED TO BE OK. ONCE ON THAT TIME I WAS STILL WAITING FOR THE AAA OPERATOR I DECIDED TO TAKE [XXX] AND I WAS ABLE TO SAFE ARRIVE HOME. CHECKING THE SYMPTOM I HAD IN GOOGLE AND YOUTUBE I LEARNED ABOUT THE PROBLEM WITH THE NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE WHICH IS ALREADY KNOWN BY NHTSA AND GM. I HOPE MY INCIDENCE CAN BE INVESTIGATED AND A DECISION FOR RECALL BE TAKEN.I DON'T SEE ANY DIFFERENCE TO WHAT EXPERIENCED WITH THE IGNITION SWITCH TOPIC THEREFORE THIS ISSUE SHOULD BE CONSIDERED AS POTENTIAL RECALL. THE COMMUNICATION PANEL, WHERE THE SPEED AND ALL COMMUNICATIONS ABOUT THE CAR ARE GIVEN, THEN SAID REDUCED ENGINE POWER AND MY CAR SLOWED DOWN AND MY POWER STEERING STOPPED WORKING. THE PANEL THEN ALSO SAID SERVICE STABILITRAK AND SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL. IT HAS HAPPENED MORE THAN ONCE SINCE I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE AND THE DEALER REPLACED THE THE ECM A FEW YEARS AGO AND IT HASN'T FIXED THE ISSUE AS IT STILL OCCURS. THE MOST RECENT EVENT HAPPENED LAST WEEK.
CAR KEPT SMELLING LIKE BURNING OIL. THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT ALWAYS SMELLED LIKE BURNING OIL. AT ONE POINT, RYAN ALMOST FELL ASLEEP AT THE WHEEL AFTER A DRIVE TO WORK IN THE WINTER BECAUSE OF THE INTERIOR AIR QUALITY. WE BROUGHT IT IN AND THE TURBO CHARGER OIL COOLER PIPES WERE LEAKING INCLUDING THE FEED AND THE RETURN.
COULD PUSH THE GAS PEDAL TO THE FLOOR AND IT WON'T ACCELERATE. PRESSING THE GAS WITH NORMAL PRESSURE MAKES THE RPM'S INCREASE VERY QUICKLY AND THE CAR EITHER WON'T ACCELERATE OR WILL ACCELERATE VERY SLOWLY. THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON PREVIOUSLY FOR TWO DAYS AND THEN SHUT OFF AND HASN'T COME BACK ON YET. I THINK IT IS THE TURBO. UNKNOWN CAUSE.
MY CRUZE IS LEAKING OIL FROM THE OIL PUMP COOLER. I TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC SHOP AMD HAD IT DIAGNOSED. HE SAID THERE IS A NATIONWIDE BACKORDER FOR THE PART. HE FINALLY FOUND ONE BUT HE HAS TO DRIVE OVER AN HOUR AWAY TO GET IT. THEY HAVE ANOTHER CRUZE IN THE SHOP WITH THE SAME ISSUE. I AM JUST WONDERING WHY THERE ISNT A RECALL IF THE PART IS ON BACK ORDER NATIONWIDE? MY CAR HAS APPROXIMATELY 125,000 MILES ON IT AND I JUST PURCHASED IT A MONTH AGO. I KNEW THERE WAS AN OIL LEAK SOMEWHERE WHEN THERE WAS A FRESH PUDDLE OF OIL IN MY DRIVEWAY.
I CONTACTED CHEVROLET CUSTOMER SERVICE ON 1-10-18 AND SPOKE TO A SUPERVISOR. REITERATING CALL. THE VEHICLE HAS 35000 MILES ON IT. IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY BECAUSE OF PURCHASE DATE. ON 4 DIFFERENT OCCASIONS THIS IS WHAT HAPPENED. #1) NOV 18 LIGHTS WERE ON, FLASHERS WERE ON AND RADIO WAS ON WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN THE GARAGE AND KEY WAS IN THE OFF POSITION #2) DEC 2018 SAME AS #1 #3) DEC 2018 VEHICLE WAS RUNNING WITH THE KEY IN THE OFF POSITION IN THE GARAGE. BY RUNNING I MEAN THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING AND EXHAUST FUMES WERE EVERYWHERE. #4) JAN 2019. SAME AS #3. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND COULD HAVE STARTED A FIRE OR CARBON DIOXIDE POISONING COULD'VE OCCURRED. DEFROST SWITCH/DOOR MOTOR GEARS ARE BROKEN CAUSING THE WINDSHIELD TO NOT BE ABLE TO DEFROST. DRIVING VISIBILITY IS SLIM TO NONE AT ALL.
