The ABS and traction control light came on and the vehicle sometimes doesn’t want to stop. The ABS kicks in and it takes a while for it to stop. It’s been twice where the vehicle ends up stopping in the middle of the intersection. Luckily no one was in front of us or coming the other direction.
The front Uni body to front engine/ transmission subframe mount area on left front and right front has rusted away the front 2 subframe mounting points are not connected to the uni body structure anymore due to corrosion damage causing a clunking noise while driving
The front sub frame where it bolts to the frame was completely rusted loose on the right side. The left side was barely holding on. This is what holds the motor up and control arms. My mechanics are telling me this is a common problem with Chevy Equinoxes. If it's common why aren't there recalls. My car only has 80,000 miles on it and my mechanic told me to scrap it. I'm a fabricator and welder. I welded a new frame under it but others can't do that and mechanics say it's a no fix.
I was at the car wash, when the vehicle was near the end, suddenly the engine light and powertrain light came on then shut off automatically. I tried to restart, put the truck in the drive, but it wouldn't go like the gas wasn't reaching. So, I turned it off and restarted to see if the lights would go off, but it didn't. I was able to get it home safely. It doesn't take off right away when you gas the pedal. When I stop at the stop sign, it takes a minute before it starts moving again. This is not safe to drive, especially when making a turn, pulling off to traffic. If it doesn't take off in time, it could be an accident due this problem. I hope there's a solution this problem. Upon purchasing the vehicle from a buy here pay here they did not enclose any possible or current failures or problems with the vehicle. It started with the battery and within 2 months of purchase the check engine light came on. I had previously taken the vehicle to the dealership 3 times to assess the issue in which they repeatedly informed me nothing was wrong even though my check engine light was still on. A month later my CV axel went out and my alignment begin to come out of place. I took the vehicle to an auto shop in which they gave me an estimate of all the issues wrong with the car. I have since done repairs for what was necessary. I then began to look for a recall on the vehicle in which I found that there was a manufacturer recall that was I repaired regarding the Safety lock theft prevention. My ignition switch does not register properly when it is in “off mode”. The engine still runs and numerous attempts to stop it have failed. I contacted the dealership and they have not been willing to work with me in any way. I called the manufacturer number and was directed to a Chevrolet dealership near me in which they told me there are no recalls even though the NHTSA.gov website states there is as well as numerous others but that they have not been repaired. When I place my vehicle in the park position and remove the key from the ignition I am still able to move the gear shift into any selected gear, both with and without the normal brake and the emergency brake. I cannot afford to take it to a shop for repair but did take it to be inspected and was informed that this was an issue along with others and that it could be the reason my battery is not holding the power it needs and why I cannot remove my key sometimes as well as why the engine remains running after switching to the off position and removing my key.

The contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that after starting the vehicle, the vehicle remained in LIMP mode. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer but they are all unable to identify the issue. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 134,000. My 2005 Chevrolet Equinox has been going into limp mode after it's rained for the past 6 to 8 months, with flooding to the floor boards.
It was recently brought to my attention that the keys can fall out of the ignition with the vehicle running. Which creates an extreme likelihood that the vehicle can move forward or backward without assistance. My keys fall right out of the ignition you should not be able to take the keys out of an ignition with it running or not in park. Has not been confirmed by the dealership yet that’s my next step. And yes it can be reproduced at any time. Sometimes the key will not even start the vehicle. Hi had never reached over and just tried to take the keys out of the ignition to see if they would come out but I recently rented a room where the owner has the exact same car and the same thing happened to him and he had the ignition replaced. This is how I know that it happens because he reached over and was able to pull my keys right out with the vehicle running. I was shocked. Also at one point it says there is automatic transmission recall and mine is making weird movements and jerking motions sometimes not just on my car but on my landlord’s car as well. Maybe that needs to be looked at.
WHILE DRIVING I CAN HEAR CLINKING NOISE IN REAR OF CAR. AND IT SOMETIMES FEELS LIKE IT'S DRAGGING MY SPEED DOWN. TO THE POINT WE'RE I CAN GO THREW $20 IN GAS IN 2 DAYS BARELY DRIVING IT. WHEN GOING TO STOP WHEN BREAKING IT PULSATE UNDER FOOT I HAVE BRAND NEW BREAKS ALL AROUND CAN STILL HEAR GRINDING HAS A HARD TIME STOPPING CAN SMELL BREAKS. TOOK IT HAD IT PUT ON MACHINE THEY SAID ABS SENSOR REPLACED THAT PROBLEM STILL PERSISTS. ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT WILL NOT GO OFF. BREAKS ARE GETTING WORSE I DON'T FEEL SAFE.

THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CONTACT AND WAS ABLE TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE. THE STATUS OF THE POLICE WAS UNKNOWN. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACTS HOME. THE CONTACT HAD NOT NOTIFIED LOCAL DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN INFORMED OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.

I HAVE BEEN HAVING MAJOR OVERHEATING IN MY VVEHICAL. I HAVE ONLY BEEN USING IT FOR SHORT DISTANCES DUE TO THE ISSUE BUT NOW HAVE BEEN LETTING IT SIT STILL AFTER READING THAT THE 2005 EQUINOX HAD HEAD GASKET PROBLEMS BEFORE. AND AFTER A UNCLE JUST LOOKING IT OVER I BELIEVE THAT IS WHAT'S WRONG. THERE IS OIL UP IN MY ANTIFREEZE AND RUNNING HORRIBLE. STEERING WHEEL GOT LOCKED I TRIED WITH DIFFERENT KEYS EVEN A NEW DEALERS KEY AND IT STILL DIDN'T UNLOCK . IT WAS PARKED
WELL I BOUGHT IT FROM A INDIVIDUAL 3 MONTHS AGO N THE SECOND DAY OF GETTING IT MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON IT FEELS LIKE IT JERKS THE CRAP OUT OF U WHEN TRYING TO TO GAIN SPEED FROM 40-55 RANGE N WHEN COMING TO A STOP SIGN IT FEELS LIKE IT DON'T WANT TO STOP NOW THE ABS N TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT IS ON DASH . I HAVE NO WHERE ON MY DASH OR ANYWHERE IN THE VEHICLE TO TURN TRACTION CONTROL ON OR OFF . THE PAST TWO WEEKS IT DRINKS GAS LIKE CRAZY IT DON'T WANT TO WARM UP LIKE IT SHOULD FOR HEATER .. IS THIS TO DO WITH A RECALL OR SERVICED ISSUES BC I'M READY TO TRADE IT OFF BEFORE I GET KILLED OR KILL SOMEONE OR MY KIDS GET HURT IN ACCIDENT BC OF THE ISSUES WITH THIS VEHICLE
THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20-30 MPH, THE TRANSMISSION FAILED TO SHIFT AS NEEDED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS UNABLE TO EXCEED 20 MPH. ADDITIONALLY, THERE WAS AN ELECTRICAL SURGE THAT WENT THROUGH THE STEERING WHEEL CAUSING AN INJURY TO THE CONTACT. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS NEEDED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER TURNING THE IGNITION SWITCH TO THE OFF POSITION, THE VEHICLE WAS STILL RUNNING. THE BATTERY TERMINALS WERE DISCONNECTED AND THE VEHICLE SHUT-OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO RICK HENDRICK CHEVROLET NORFOLK (6252 E. VIRGINIA BEACH BLVD, NORFOLK, VA 23502, (757) 266-5804) TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, AND THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE REPROGRAMMED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT YET REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND OPENED A CASE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,900.
KEY FALLS OUT OF THE IGNITION SINCE I GOT IT A YEAR AGO I HAVE REPLACED 02 SENSOR AC COMPRESSOR AND A WATER TANK. IT WAS ACTING LIKE IT WASN'T GETTING FUEL LIKE LOSING POWER AND THEN I KILLED IT WENT TO START IT THE NEXT DAY AND IT WON'T CRANK IT WILL TURN OVER AND ACT LIKE IT WANTS TO RUN BUT IT DIES
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2005 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH AND TURNING ON CURVE TOO FAST, CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE WAS LOST. THE VEHICLE SWERVED LEFT AND RIGHT ULTIMATELY COMING TO A STOP AFTER CRASHING INTO A TREE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. DURING THE IMPACT THE CONTACT HEAD WAS HIT ON THE WINDSHIELD AND ABRASION TO THE KNEE WERE SUSTAINED. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS NOT SOUGHT. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A TOW YARD. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 165,000.
MY KEY TO MY CAR WON'T TURN. AND WHEN YOU DO GET IT STARTED BY HITTING IT THE KEY FALLS OUT WHILE DRIVING. THIS IS MY THIRD TIME REPLACING IT BUT SAW THERE'S BEEN RECALLS FOR THE LOCK IGNITION SWITCH FOR THIS MODEL. IT'S STARTED HAPPENING AGAIN A YEAR AFTER I LAST REPLACED THE LOCK IGNITION SWITCH.
MY UNDER HOOD FUSE BOX WENT UP IN FLAMES WHILE DRIVING ON A BACK ROAD IN MY HOME TOWN. I WAS DOING 45 MPH WHEN THEN TRUCK SHUT DOWN WITHOUT WARNING. I AT FIRST THOUGHT WAS THE FUEL PUMP WENT. WHEN I OPENED MY DRIVERS DOOR I COULD SMELL SOMETHING WAS BURNING. I PULLED THE HOOD RELEASE AS I EXITED KINDLY DOWN AND LOOKED UNDER THE TRUCK DID NOT SEE AND SMOKE. I THEN WENT AND OPENED THE HOOD AND NOTICED THE UNDER HOOD FUSE BOX WAS ON FIRE AND WAS BEING FUELED BY THE BATTERY I RASH TO THE BACK AND GRABBED A PAIR OF PLIERS TO DISCUSS CONNECT THE BATTERY. I FEEL THIS IS A HUGE ISSUE BECAUSE I HAD TO CALL 6 DIFFERENT JUNK YARDS SOME THE PARTS WERE ALREADY REMOVED AND OTHERS DID NOT HAVE ALL BUT HAD ONE OF THEM AND A COUPLE THE PARTS WERE MELTED AND BURNT.

THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE HEAD AND ANKLE, WHICH REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT LOT. THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT AND THE ABS LIGHT COME ON WHEN DRIVING AND WHEN YOU GO TO STOP OR SLOW DOWN, THE BRAKES PULSATE AND MAKE IT TO WHERE YOU CAN'T STOP OR SLOW DOWN, EVEN ON DRY ROADS.
THERE ARE TWO ISSUES WITH THIS EQUINOX. THE FIRST, IS THE KEY SOMETIMES LOCKS ON THE IGNITION AND I CANNOT TURN THE VEHICLE ON NOR TURN THE KEY - IT COMPLETELY LOCKS LEADING TO ANXIETY AND FRUSTRATION BECAUSE IT WILL TAKE SEVERAL ATTEMPTS AT TRYING TO PUT THE KEY IN OR EVEN TRYING TO PULL IT OUT OF THE IGNITION. THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING ISSUE SINCE WE FIRST BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE. THE SECOND ISSUE IS THE BACK DOOR/HATCH OF THE 2005 EQUINOX DOES NOT OPEN/UNLOCK. THE ONLY WAY TO ACCESS BACK AREA IS TO LOWER BACK SEAT AND CLIMB TO BACK AREA. VEHICLE WASWAS STATIONARY WHEN WE FIRST NOTICED PROBLEM. LOTS OF COMPLAINTS ONLINE ABOUT OTHERS HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. WHY WASN'T THIS ISSUE MADE INTO A RECALL ISSUE? WHY DO I HAVE TO PAY $150-$200 (ACCORDING TO SOME COMPLAINTS ONLINE) OR MORE OUT OF MY OWN POCKET TO GET THIS ISSUE RESOLVED? I CAN'T EVEN SELL THE VEHICLE BECAUSE I DISCLOSE THESE ISSUES TO POTENTIAL BUYERS AND RIGHT AWAY THEY GET DISCOURAGED AND WALK AWAY. WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO WITH THIS CAR NOW?

THE DRIVE SHAFT FELL OUT OF THE VEHICLE ON 07/2019 AND AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC DEEMED THE VEHICLE UNDRIVABLE ON 12/23/19. THE CONTACT CALLED THE STATE POLICE FOR VEHICLE FRAUD AN DWAS STILL WAITING FOR A CALLBACK. THE CONTACT ALSO CONTACTED COUNTY ATTORNEY GENERAL AN RECEIVED NO ASSISTANCE. THE CONTACT WAS REFERRED TO THE STATE'S ATTORNEY GENERAL'S OFFICE. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN CONTACTED YET. THE DEALER M C'S AUTO SALES 1343 CONNELLSVILLE ST, LEMONT FURNACE, PA 15456 (724) 438-0191 STATED THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO ABOUT ITAND REFUSED TO REFUND THE PURCHASE. THE DEALER TRIED TO REPOCESS THE VEHICLE THE NEXT DAY BUT WAS UNSUCESSFUL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 114,000.TF
ABS KICKS ON RANDOMLY, DRIVING OR BRAKING AND AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. I HAVE HAD ONE ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE, HAVE SINCE PULLED THE FUSE AND SPENT OVER $1,000 AT THE SHOP TO FIX THIS ISSUE WITH NO RESULTS. THIS HAS BEEN AN ISSUE SINCE DECEMBER OF 2017 UNTIL PRESENT.
OUR CHEVROLET EQUINOX 2005 IS SHIFTING HARD DOWN SHIFT AND UPSHIFT BUT DOESN'T SHOW ANY RECALLS ON THEM WHICH THERE SHOULD SINCE THERE IS PROBLEMS AND ANOTHER VEHICLE SOMEONE ELSE OWNS IS A CHEVROLET EQUINOX 2008 MODEL IS ALSO SHIFTING HARD IT'S A SERIUSE PROBLEM IT COULD CAUSE A WRECK DUE POSSIBILITY SOMETHING LOCKING UP ON IT ALSO AT TIMES WHEN YOU TRY AND START IT THE STARTER TRYS TO STAY ENGAGED HAVE TO TRY SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE IT STARTS RIGHT PLEASE CHECK INTO THE ISSUES BEFORE SOME GETS SERIOUSLY HURT PLEASE!! TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. WHILE DRIVING 24 MPH ON AN EXIT RAMP, THE VEHICLE INADVERTENTLY DROVE OFF THE SIDE OF THE RAMP AND CRASHED. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY AND THE SEAT BELT FAILED TO RESTRAIN THE CONTACT. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES TO THE HEAD AND HIPS THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A TOW LOT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND A FIELD INSPECTOR WAS SENT TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS AWAITING THE INSPECTION RESULTS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000.
VEHICLE WILL STALL DURING OPERATION OR AT IDLE. TSB 05539 COVERS THIS ISSUE FOR EARLIER VIN NUMBERS. THIS NEEDS TO BE EXPANDED TO INCLUDE ADDITIONAL VIN NUMBERS FOR LATER PRODUCTION EFFECTED BY THE SAME PROBLEM.VEHICLE WILL RESTART AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS, BUT MAY FAIL AGAIN IN AS FEW AS FIVE MINUTES OR RUN AS LONG AS AN HOUR.
TAKATA RECALL: I BOUGHT MY CHEVY EQUINOX IN AUGUST OF 2017, SINCE TAKING IT HOME IT HAS HAD A LURCHING PROBLEM WHEN DRIVING OR WHEN STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT. IT LURCHES FORWARD AND BACKWARDS LIKE A BULL TRYING TO THROW YOU OFF. I PUT NEW BRAKES ON EVERY 3 MONTHS BECAUSE MY BRAKES DO NOT WORK EVEN WHEN BRAND NEW, AND WHEN I PRESS THE BRAKE THE CAR WON'T STOP, OR THE BRAKE PULSES AND VIBRATES. THE CARS GEAR SHIFT SOMETIMES GETS STUCK IN DRIVE WHEN TRYING TO PUT IT IN PARK. WHEN TRYING TO DRIVE AND THE GAS IS PRESSED YOU HEAR A GRINDING, AND THE GAS VIBRATES. I'VE HAD TO ABS SENSOR REPLACED 4X, O2 SENSOR 3X NEW BRAKES EVERY 3 MONTHS, NEW TIRES EVERY 6 MONTHS, REGULAR OIL CHANGES, IT'S HAD IT'S VALVES REPLACED, IT'S HAD NEW BRAKE LINES, NEW SHOCKS, REGULAR ALIGNMENTS, IT'S HAD A NEW CATALYTIC CONVERTER PUT IN. THE CARS RPM SPIKES TO 8000 WHEN DOING 30 MILES AN HOUR THROUGH A SMALL TOWN. THE WHEEL VIBRATES WHEN ON A HIGHWAY ABS LIGHT NEVER COMES OFF. T/C TURNS OFF ANYTIME I MAKE A TURN. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS I SWEAR PERMANTLY ON. . I'VE BEEN TOLD THIS CAN BE A TRANSMISSION AND GEAR SHIFT PROBLEM, BUT THAT ALL 3 OF MY REGULAR MECHANICS CALL THIS PROBLEM THE GHOST PROBLEM, BECAUSE THEY CAN'T FIGURE IT OUT AND ALWAYS TELL ME TO NOT DRIVE IT THAT IT'S NOT SAFE TO DRIVE BUT IT'S MY ONLY VEHICLE AND I AM 5 MONTHS PREGNANT AND CANNOT AFFORD A NEW CAR RIGHT NOW. THIS CAR IS UNSAFE AND NEEDS TO BE EVALUATED.
RIGHT WHEN I LEFT THE DEALERS LOT, IT NEEDED A NEW HEAD GASKET, INTAKE GASKET COIL PACK, AND A THERMOSTAT. LUCKILY THE DEALER PAID FOR THAT. SINCE THEN, I NOTICED WHEN SLOWING DOWN FOR A STOP SIGN, IF THERE'S A SLIGHT BUMP IN THE ROAD, IT FEELS LIKE I'M RUNNING OVER A BOULDER. WHILE SLOWING DOWN MOST TIMES, THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE SEEMS TO BOG DOWN ABOUT AN INCH, WAS TOLD MAYBE A MOTOR MOUNT? RPMS ALWAYS BOG UP AND DOWN FOR NO REASON LIKE IT'S TRYING TO ACCELERATE ON ITS OWN. A FEW WEEKS AGO MY AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON INDICATING MY AIR BAGS WON'T DEPLOY WHEN NEEDED. A COUPLE WEEKS LATER THE RPMS BOGGING AND FRONT END BOGGING DOWNWARD BECAME MORE CONSTANT, THEN MY SPEEDOMETER RANDOMLY WILL GO TO 0 WHILE IN MOTION, THEN A FEW MINUTES LATER WILL WORK FINE. RPMS SEEM TO BE WORKING NORMAL WHEN THE SPEEDOMETER IS WORKING NORMAL. THE OTHER DAY, WHILE BRAKING, OF COURSE.... THE BOULDER FEELING WHILE BRAKING, FRONT END BOGGED DOWNWARD, RPMS WENT RIDICULOUSLY HIGH BETWEEN 3-4 BACK AND FORTH ERRATICALLY, AND THE SPEEDOMETER WENT TO 0.. ALL THAT HAPPENED AT ONCE, MADE ME OFFICIALLY REALIZE, IT HAS TO ALL BE A CONNECTED PROBLEM. THEN I FOUND THIS SITE, WITH SO MANY PEOPLE HAVING THESE SAME ISSUES, FOR SO LONG.. HOW IN GOD'S NAME IS THIS POS NOT RECALLED?? I CAN'T EVEN IN GOOD CONSCIENCE CHOOSE SOMEONE TO DIE BY SELLING THIS THING TO THEM, I STILL OWE SO MUCH MONEY ON IT. THERE'S SO MANY STORIES OF PEOPLE RANDOMLY STEERING, AND ACCELERATING FULL THROTTLE IN VARIOUS DIRECTIONS AND ANY GIVEN TIME. WHAT DEMONIZED TRANSFORMER OF A VEHICLE DID I BUY? HOW ARE THESE THINGS STILL ON THE ROAD? HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE TO DIE BEFORE CHEVY OWNS UP TO THIS DEADLY HUNK OF METAL THEY SOLD TO US? PLEASE RECALL ASAP. I LITERALLY CAN'T SELL IT TO ANYONE. MY KEY COMES OUT OF THE IGNITION NO MATTER WHAT GEAR IT IS IN. THE VEHICLE JUST SUDDENLY STOPPED RUNNING AS I WAS ACCELERATING FROM A STOP SIGN ON A CITY STREET. I AM NOW UNABLE TO START THE VEHICLE. THE KEY IS ALSO TOUGH TO PULL OUT SOMETIMES.
HAVE HAD MAJOR ENGINE TROUBLE. HEAD GASKETS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT PURCHASE TWO YEARS AGO. I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY TWO DAYS AGO AND MY LOW OIL LIGHT CAME ON AND MY ENGINE BEGAN FAILING. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT TO A MECHANIC. THE CODES RAN INDICATED A THERMOSTAT PROBLEM CAUSING THE ENGINE TO BURN OIL. THE PISTONS INSIDE THE ENGINE BROKE. HE INDICATED IT COULD HAVE BEEN FROM THE HEAD GASKET ISSUES. I HAVE READ CONSUMER COMPLAINTS THAT OTHERS HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUES. IN ADDITION, I PERSONALLY KNOW TWO PEOPLE WITH SIMILAR MODELS WHO HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEMS. THE DEALERSHIP WHO I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE FROM TOLD ME TO CALL GENERAL MOTORS BECAUSE THEY ARE AWARE OTHER CONSUMERS WHO HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEMS AS ME. A MECHANIC INFORMED ME THAT IF I WERE TO CONTINUE DRIVING MY VEHICLE, MY ENGINE WILL LOCK UP WHILE I AM DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD.

DROVE VEHICLE TO A STORE, WHILE INSIDE AN ELECTRICAL FIRE STARTED UNDERNEATH FUSE BOX WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED. FIRE MEN STATED VEHICLE WAS ATTEMPTING TO START ITSELF WITHOUT KEYS AND WITHOUT BEING ON. HEADLIGHTS N DASH REMAINED ON AND VEHICLE BEGAN TO SMOKE VERY BADLY, WOULDN'T QUIT UNTIL BATTERY WAS DISCONNECTED AND NEEDED TO BE EXTINGUISHED. ELECTRICAL FIRE PROGRESSED TO DASH AND MELTED WIPER SHIFTER OFF.
ACCELERATION IS WEAK, POSSIBLE FUMES AND EMISSIONS
PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE THE VEHICLE CAME TO A STOP IN THE PARKING SPOT, AS THE DRIVER WAS GETTING READY TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK, THE ENGINE REVVED UP, THE CAR JUMPED A CURB/SIDEWALK AND CRASHED INTO A BUILDING. A PERSON THAT WAS THERE TO CLEAN THE WINDOWS, WENT TO THE VEHICLE TO TRY TO GET THE DRIVER OUT AND REACHED INTO THE CAR TO PUT IT INTO PARK, THE ENGINE REVVED UP AGAIN BUT IT WAS AT REST AGAINST THE BUILDING. THE DRIVER AT THIS POINT HAD THEIR FEET TOGETHER IN FRONT OF THE DRIVER SEAT NOT ON ANY PEDALS AND HANDS TOGETHER IN FRONT OF THEIR FACE. THE MAN PUT THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL AND SET THE PARKING BRAKE. THE VEHICLE WAS DECLARED A TOTAL LOSS.
I WAS DRIVING MY 2005 CHEVY EQUINOX ON A MOUNTAIN ROAD LIKE A DO THREE DAYS A WEEK AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STARTING FLASHING AND ANOTHER LIGHT CAME ON ON THE DASHBOARD AND THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. I IMMEDIATELY STOPPED AND CALLED AAA TO TOW MY VEHICLE. I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE BRAND NEW AND I HAVE NEVER HAD ANY MAJOR PROBLEMS WITH IT. I HAVE KEPT IT SERVICED AND IT IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. I HAD A MECHANIC HOOK MY VEHICLE UP TO A COMPUTER TO DIAGNOSE WHAT WAS WRONG WITH IT AND THE CODE THAT CAME BACK WAS THAT THE HEAD GASKET NEEDED REPLACING. MY MECHANIC SAID THAT THE CHEVY ENGINE THAT I HAVE IN MY EQUINOX IS KNOWN TO HAVE AN ISSUE WITH THE HEAD GASKET WHERE IT GOES OUT WITH NO WARNING AND FOR NO REASON. CHEVY KNEW ABOUT THIS ISSUE BUT FAILED TO RECALL THE VEHICLES WITH THESE ENGINES AND DID NOT MAKE CONSUMERS LIKE ME AWARE OF THIS ISSUE. I SHOULD HAVE BEEN INFORMED OF THIS PROBLEM SO I HAD THE OPTION TO EITHER PURCHASE A DIFFERENT VEHICLE OR TRADE MY VEHICLE FOR SOMETHING DIFFERENT BUT I WAS NOT GIVEN THAT CHOICE BECAUSE CHEVY FAILED TO MAKE ME AWARE OF THE PROBLEM WITH MY ENGINE AND ALL THE OTHER CONSUMERS THAT HAVE THIS SAME PROBLEM.

PLEASE STOP LETTING CHEVY SELL THESE EQUINOX THERE JUST A LEMON.

LOCK CYLINDER GETS STUCK AND PREVENTS VEHICLE FROM BEING STARTED. ONLY AFTER SEVERAL MINUTES OF JIGGLING THE LOCK MECHANISM DOES THE KEY TURN. THE STEERING WHEEL LOCK ALSO DOES NOT ENGAGE.

I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE TODAY. 12/26/16. DROVE HOME. ABOUT 10 MINUTES FROM MY HOUSE. THE TEMP GAUGE GOES TO THE RED. I WAIT ABOUT 45 MIN. I TAKE IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY ASKED ME TO LEAVE IT OVERNIGHT. AFTER READING SEVERAL COMPLAINTS. CAN'T YOU ALL DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS? SEEMS TO BE THE COMMON THING WITH THE TYPE OF COOLANT THAT IS USED IN THESE VEHICLES.
I WAS IN AN ACCIDENT ON 12/15/2016 WHERE I HIT SOMEONE FROM BEHIND. I WAS DRIVING STRAIGHT DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND DIDN'T NOTICE THE PEOPLE IN FRONT OF ME STOPPING. WHEN I HIT THE BRAKES, IT WAS TOO LATE AND MY CHEST WENT FLYING AGAINST THE STEERING WHEEL. WHEN MY EQUINOX HIT THEM, MY SEAT BELT DID NOT LOCK AND MY CHEST HIT THE STEERING WHEEL. I HAD TO GO TO THE HOSPITAL BECAUSE OF THE FORCE OF THE IMPACT. THE FORCE WAS SO HARD THAT THE AIR BAG DID NOT COME OUT. I DON'T KNOW IF THERE IS AN AIR BAG INSIDE THE VEHICLE. I COULD NOT CATCH MY BREATH AND I TESTED OUT MY SEAT BELT AND REALIZED IT DOES NOT LOCK WHEN BREAKING. IT IS ACTUALLY LOSE THE WHOLE TIME I AM DRIVING.
