IN ALL DRIVING MODES, HEATER ONLY BLOWS COLD AIR, NOT HOT AIR
WHILE ACCELERATING THE VEHICLE ISNT SHIFTING IN THE PROPER WAY IT SHOULD. THERE IS A CHAIN RATTLING KIND OF SOUND FROM THE ENGINE AS IT ACCELERATES, CLOSER TO THE DRIVER SIDE. WHILE BRAKING, THE BRAKES PADS ARE ALL NEW, IT WILL SOMETIMES MAKE A GRINDING SOUND AND HAVE LITTLE TO NO BRAKE RESISTANCE IF YOU HIT A BUMP. ALL IN A STRAIGHT MOTION.
THE HEADLIGHTS IN MY VEHICLE SHUT ON BY THEMSELVES WHILE CAR IS PARKED AND I HAVE BEEN HAVING A DIFFICULT TIME SHUTTING THEM OFF AFTER DRIVING AND ARRIVING TO MY DESTINATION. I ALSO NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM MY STEERING WHEEL.
IT HAS NOT BEEN TWO YEARS AFTER THE HEATING SYSTEM IN MY VEHICLE WAS FIXED, AND NOW I AM EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE AGAIN. THE HEAT IN MY VEHICLE IS ONLY WORKING WHILE MY VEHICLE IS MOVING. WHEN THE CAR IS IN PARK OR WHEN I STOP AT THE LIGHT THE CAR BLOWS OUT COLD AIR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. WHILE EXITING A PARKING LOT ONTO A MAIN ROAD, THE GEAR SHIFTER MOVED INTO FIRST GEAR AND FAILED TO SHIFT OUT OF GEAR. THE CONTACT LET OFF THE THROTTLE AND THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT WAITED FOR A FEW SECONDS AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE. WHILE DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 86,000.
DRIVING AT HIGH SPEED IN HIGHWAY AND SUDDENLY LOOSE ACCELERATION PEDAL FUNCTION. DANGEROUS SLOW DOWN IN HIGHWAY WHILE CARS PASS YOU BY AT HIGH SPEEDS AND YOU JUST CANT GET TO MOVE OUT THE WAY.WITH FAMILY IN VEHICLE
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE OVERHEATED. THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY WERE NOT AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 63,000.
AIR BAG IS STUCK TO THE HORN WHICH DISABLED THE ABILITY TO HONK
MY GRANDDAUGHTER WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT WHERE AS ANOTHER VEHICLE FAILED TO STOP AT A STOP SIGN AND PULLED INTO HER PATH. SHE AND THE OTHER VEHICLE WERE BOTH AT A SPEED OF 25 MPH. THE FRONT CLIP WAS TORN FROM HER CAR AND NO DRIVERS AIRBAG DEPLOYED. SHE DID HAVE HER SEATBELT ON WHICH DID PREVENT SERIOUS INJURY. THE ACCIDENT OCCURRED 30 DEC 2016. THIS HAPPENED ON CITY STREETS.
NO HEAT COMING FROM THE VENTS AND IT WON'T DEFROST THE FRONT WINDSHIELDS OR THE BACK GLASS, MOST FRUSTRATING THINGS IS NOT HEAT IN THE CAR AT ALL DURING WINTER. TOOK IT TO THE SHOP SAID EITHER BLEND DOOR STOP WORKING OR ITS BROKEN . NEED HELP MISS [XXX] MOTHER OF 2 VERY COLD WITH OUT HEAT. STOP WORKING WHEN I LEFT WORK. MY 2006 CHEVY EQUINOX HEATER START BLOWING COLD AIR ON DECEMBER 1, 2016. PER THE CHEVY DEALER THE HEATER BLEND DOOR IS BROKEN IT COST ME OVER $2,300 TO FIX THE HEATER . THERE ARE TOO MANY 2006 CHEVY EQUINOX WITH THE ME PROBLEM. THIS IS S DEFECT AND A RECALL SHOULD BE DONE. GM NEED TO PAY FOR THIS PART AND LABOR DEFECT.
BAD BLEND DOOR HEAT BLOWS COLD AIR
ANY TIME THERE IS RAIN OR GOING THROUGH A CAR WASH MY CAR HAS A LEAK OF WATER THAT COLLECTS IN MY FLOORBOARD. I HAVE READ A MILLION REVIEWS ONLINE AT CHEVROLETFORUM.COM AND NUMEROUS YOUTUBE VIDEOS DOCUMENTING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE MAKE AND MODEL. IF GM PLANS ON CHARGING FOR AN UPGRADE LIKE A SUNROOF THEN IT SHOULD PROPERLY WORK. THE REASON FOR CONCERN ON THIS, THE WATER LEAKS THROUGH THE DASH AND EVEN SOMETIMES COLLECTS IN THE LIGHT FIXTURES OF THE ROOF. WITH STANDING WATER ON THE FLOOR BOARDS I HAVE A HUGE CONCERN FOR MY SAFETY FROM BEING ELECTROCUTED OR BEING E POSED TO ANY TYPE OF MOLD CAUSED FROM THE WET CARPET. THERE ARE APPARENTLY ISSUES WITH SEVERAL SEALS WHEN IT COMES TO THIS MODEL AND I FEEL IT HAS BEEN OVERLY DOCUMENTED THAT IS IS A SAFETY CONCERN. NOT TO MENTION OF DRIVING IN RAIN WHICH IS SOMETIMES INEVITABLE, YOU WILL BE DRIVING IN YOUR OWN MONSOON. I HAVE CONTACTED THE DEALER AND THE ARE REFUSING TO STATE THAT THEIR IS ANY SAFETY CONCERN. HOWEVER, THEY ARE NOT DRIVING MY VECHICLE, I AM. I HAVE EVEN PERSONALLY EMAILED CHEVROLET ABOUT THE ISSUE AND THEY ARE STATING SINCE THERE IS NO ACTIVE RECALL OPENED THAT EVERYTHING WILL BE AN OUT OF POCKET EXPENSE EVEN THOUGH THIS IS A DESIGN, HARDWARE MALFUNCTION. NOT SOMETHING CAUSE BY WEAR AND TEAR, LIKE TIRES OR BRAKES. THIS LEAK HAS ALSO BEEN KNOW TO START CAUSING ELECTRICAL ISSUES FROM POWER LINES BEING SATURATED IN STANDING WATER. MY CAR STARTS MAKING A CLICKING NOISE AND THE POWER WILL FLUCTUATE BECAUSE OF WATER LEAKING INSIDE CABIN AND UNDERNEATH DASH WHERE POWER CABLES ARE EXPOSED. THIS HAS CAUSED MY CAR TO STOP WORKING WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY PREVIOUSLY.
WHEN I FIRST BOUGHT THE VEHICLE WITH 77,000 MILES, I NOTICE A GALLON OF WATER IN SPARE WHEEL WELL. HAD TO RESEAL REAR DOOR WHETHER STRIPE. 5 MONTHS LATER THE ACTUATOR OF THE HEATER FAILED AND BROKE THE BLEND DOOR TO THE HEATER. I DIDN'T HAVE HEAT FOR A YEAR. BRAKE SYSTEM SENSORS FAILED 3 MONTHS AGO $2000 FIXED HUB AND ASSEMBLY AND KNUCKLES. FUEL INJECTION LINE BROKEN AT ONLY 100,000 MILES.
AIR BLEND DOOR BROKEN. HEATER BLOWS COLD AIR. VEHICLE WAS RUNNING.
MY HEATER IS BLOWING COLD AIR. THE TEMPERATURE BLEND DOOR BROKE, AND IT WILL COST ME ALMOST $1000 TO FIX IT! THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN DEADLY IF IT HAD GONE OUT IN -30 DEGREE MINNESOTA WINTER TEMPERATURES.
WHAT IS HAPPENING: THE HEATER BLEND DOOR IS STUCK BLOWING ONLY COLD AIR. THIS IS AFTER THE ENGINE IS WARM AND WORKING PROPERLY. IN NORTHERN MINNESOTA THIS IS A HUGE PROBLEM. FROM A QUICK SEARCH THIS IS HAPPENING FAR TOO OFTEN FOR IT TO BE ANYTHING OTHER THAN A MANUFACTURE DEFECT. IT IS A VERY POOR DESIGN WHICH I BELIEVE SHOULD BE RECALLED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER CONTROL MODULE AND THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 118,000.
THE HEATING SYSTEM NO LONGER PRODUCES HOT AIR FOR THE HEATER/DEFROSTER. THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN IDENTIFIED AS A BROKEN (DEFECTIVE) CHEAP PLASTIC ARM THAT CONNECTS THE TEMPERATURE BLEND DOOR TO AN ACTUATOR THAT CONTROLS THE AIR BLEND. ESTIMATED REPAIR BILL IS $750-$1000. LIVING IN THE NORTHWEST IT'S CRUCIAL TO HAVE A FUNCTIONING HEATER/DEFROSTER. A WINTER WITHOUT SUCH CAN PROVE TO BE DISASTROUS, EVEN FATAL. WHAT WILL GM DO ABOUT THIS DEFECT?
MY WIFE AND I HAVE A 2006 CHEVY EQUINOX A FEW MONTHS AGO THE ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT REPEATEDLY STARTED COMING ON CAUSING THE BRAKE PEDAL TO PULSATE. I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC THEY REPLACED ALL OF THE HUB BEARINGS SEEING THE CODES WE PULLED THOSE THE LOCK RING WAS BAD. DID NO GOOD SCAN THE VEHICLE AGAIN DIFFERENT CODES CAME OUT. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM THAT I SEE MANY PEOPLE ARE HAVING WITH THE EQUINOX THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL. I PLAN ON CONTACTING MY ATTORNEY TOMORROW TO SEE IF THERE'S ANYTHING HE CAN DO ABOUT IT I'M ALREADY $1,000 AND REPAIR OVER A PROBLEM THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN RECALLED.
THE KEY IS HANGING UP IN THE IGNITION AFTER TURNING VEHICLE OFF. IT IS OFTEN DIFFICULT TO PUT THE KEY BACK IN THE IGNITION TO THEN START IT AGAIN. THE VEHICLE NOW STALLS WHILE RUNNING WITHOUT NOTICE. WHEN IT DOES, ALL POWER CUTS OFF (POWER BRAKES, TRACTION CONTROL, LIGHTS RADIO, BREAKS - ANYTHING ELECTRIC SHUTS OFF. HAVE BEEN ABLE TO PULL THE VEHICLE OVER AND RESTART IT ALMOST IMMEDIATELY. HAPPENS ON THE STREET AS WELL AS FREEWAY. I WONDER WHETHER THIS IS COVERED BY A RECALL OR SOMETHING. PLEASE LET ME KNOW AS THIS DOES NOT SEEM TO BE VERY SAFE.

CHEVY IS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM WHICH COULD CAUSE DRIVER INABILITY TO SEE THRU WINDSHIELD AND HAS RECALLED SOME YEAR MODELS, BUT NOT 2006 MODELS. I REPLACED AT MY EXPENSE FOR $1162.49. THE PART IS NOT EXPENSIVE, REQUIRES MANY HOURS OF TAKING APART DASHBOARD.

CAR STARTED OVER HEATING DUE TO COOLING SYSTEM VALUE, BLOWN HEAD GASKET AFTER 93000 MILES RAN HOT WHILE IDLE.

VEHICLE RANDOMLY SHUTS OFF COMPLETELY AT DIFFERENT SPEEDS WHILE DRIVING. IT HAS HAPPENED ONCE EVERY THREE DAYS UP TO 6 TIMES IN 20 MINUTES. IT HAS OCCURRED ON THE FREEWAY AND CITY STREETS. HAD PCM REPROGRAMMED, NO LUCK. I HAVE BEEN TESTING DIFFERENT FIXES. WHILE DOING SO I NOTICED I AM ABLE TO PULL THE KEY OUT AT ANY IGNITION POSITION.

WE HAVE NOTICED THE ABS AND TC LIGHTS INTERMITTENTLY LIGHT UP ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL UPON BRAKING/TURNING TO THE LEFT, AS WELL AS, WHEN BRAKING/HITTING A BUMP OR ROUGH TERRAIN. WE HAVE TAKEN TO A MECHANIC TO BE TOLD THEY WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO FIX ANYTHING TO DO WITH THIS; THAT THIS IS A DEALERSHIP ISSUE. THIS IS A CAUSE FOR CONCERN DUE TO THE FACT OUR 75 YEAR OLD MOTHER DOESN'T DRIVE IT ALL THE TIME; HOWEVER, WHEN SHE DOES DRIVE, WE ARE WORRIED FOR HER SAFETY AND OUR CHILDREN'S SAFETY WHEN THEY'RE WITH HER. I AM SHOCKED GM HAS NOT RECALLED THIS.
JANUARY 2015 GM SENT A SPECIAL COVERAGE NOTICE REGARDING SEAT HEATERS THAT OVERHEAT AND FAIL. I OBJECT TO THE DIAGNOSIS FEE CHARGED IF THE HEATER ELEMENT IS NOT CAUSING THE FAILURE. IF IT IS ANOTHER PART SUCH AS A HEATER MODULE I WILL BE CHARGED $110.00 REFUNDED IF I REPLACE THE MODULE AT EXTRA COST. I FEEL THIS IS UNFAIR SINCE I DO NOT KNOW WHAT CAUSED THE FAILURE OF MY DRIVER'S SEAT HEATER AND GM SHOULD BEAT THE DIAGNOSIS FEE. CAN YOU HELP THIS CUSTOMER.

MY HEAT ONLY WORKS AT IDLE SPEED. REPLACED THE BLEND DOOR AND THE HEATERCORE ALL AT ONCE WHILE THE DASH WAS OUT. REPLACED THERMOSTAT AND TOPPED OFF COOLANT AFTER LINES WERE FLUSHED, NO LEAKS FROM THE WATER PUMP. WHAT ARE MY OTHER OPTIONS?
TAKATA RECALL RECENTLY MY 2006 CHEVROLET EQUINOX LS HAS STOPPED HEATING UP MY VEHICLE. I HAVE READ MULTIPLE ARTICLES OF OWNERS OF THIS VEHICLE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. IT IS DUE TO THE HEATER BLEND DOOR BEING BROKEN. TO GET THIS PROBLEM FIXED IS AROUND 1,000 DOLLARS. THAT IS RIDICULOUS, AFTER KNOWING THAT MORE THAN SEVERAL PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THERE HASN'T BEEN AN RECALL SENT OUT. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE INDICATOR DISPLAYED HOT AS THE ENGINE OVERHEATED WITH A BURNING ODOR. ALL THE INTERIOR WINDOWS BECAME EXTREMELY FOGGY AND THE ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS MANEUVERED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THERE WERE NO FLAMES VISIBLE. IN ADDITION, THE HEATER INTERMITTENTLY EMITTED COLD AIR THROUGH THE VENTS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO REPLACED THE HEATER CORE AND FLUSHED THE COOLING SYSTEM. ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS, THE THERMOSTAT WAS REPLACED. THE APPROXIMATE MILEAGE 89,934
I AM SUBMITTING INFORMATION TO REPORT A SAFETY COMPLAIN IN REGARDS TO A 2006 CHEVY EQUINOX. I HAVE HAD BRAKES AND BRAKE PEDAL ISSUES FOR SEVERAL MONTHS NOW IN BOTH CITY AND HIGHWAY DRIVING. THE ISSUES OCCUR AT ATTEMPTING TO STOP AT STOP SIGNS AND STOP LIGHTS. THIS IS THE FIRST OF ANY MAJOR ISSUE WITH MY VEHICLE. MY ISSUES ARE BREAK RESISTANCE AND VIBRATIONS. ALONG WITH GETTING MY BRAKES AND ROTORS FIXED AND/OR CHANGED EARLIER IN THE YEAR, I STARTED FEELING BRAKE VIBRATIONS INITIALLY. AFTER GETTING THE ROTORS CHECKED, IT HAPPENED SOON AFTER AND "GRADUATED" TOWARDS A RESISTANCE WHERE I WAS UNABLE TO STOP OR SLOW DOWN UNLESS I PUMPED MY BREAKS REPEATEDLY TO RELEASE THE PEDAL LOCKING. I RECENTLY GOT MY LEFT FRONT SPEED SENSOR AND HUB ASSEMBLY REPLACED IN HOPES IT WOULD FIX THE ISSUE. 3-4 WEEKS LATER, THE RESISTANCES HAS SEEM TO GOT A LOT STRONGER/BIGGER. IT HAS ALMOST CAUSED ME SEVERAL ACCIDENTS AT THE STOP LIGHT AND I AM NOW TRYING TO SAVE TO GET THIS ISSUE FIXED AS I WAS QUOTED ABOUT $2K INITIALLY. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD TO ANY VEHICLE AND EQUINOX THAT HAS THIS ISSUE. I HAVE SAVED MYSELF FROM SEVERAL ACCIDENTS WITH QUICK AWARENESS AND ACTION AND BUT I AM NOT SURE HOW LUCKY OTHERS HAVE BEEN. THE RESISTANCE IN THE BREAKS AND VIBRATION IS VERY NOTICEABLE AND CONTINUOUSLY HAPPENS UNTIL THE ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS UP ON THE DASH BOARD INDICATING THEY ARE DEACTIVATED/DISABLED. THIS IS WHEN BRAKING BECOMES MUCH EASIER WITH LITTLE TO NO RESISTANCE AND VIBRATING. BETWEEN THE SPEED SENSOR, HUB ASSEMBLY, I HAVE SPENT JUST OVER $1K IN EXPENSES AND THIS WILL CONTINUE TO RISE WITH THE NEXT REPAIR OF WIRE HARNESS AND/OR REPLACEMENT OF ABS SYSTEM IN HOPES IT CORRECTS THE ISSUE. PLEASE CONSIDER MY COMPLAINT IN HOPES OF RECALL TO PREVENT FURTHER ISSUES AND POTENTIAL ACCIDENTS TO INNOCENT PEOPLE.

MY HEATER IS ONLY BLOWING OUT A LITTLE BETTER THAN COOL AIR I WOULD SAY IT IS RIGHT BELOW WARM AND I HAVE A 14 MONTH OLD CHILD THE FIX IS 750.00 DOLLARS AND A LOT OF PEOPLE HAVE THE SAME ISSUE MAYBE A RECALL IS WHAT NEEDS TO HAPPEN ??
2006 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE THROTTLE PEDAL AND CONNECTOR FAILURE. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED WHEN HE ATTEMPTED TO PASS ANOTHER VEHICLE, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WENT IMMEDIATELY TO THE FLOORBOARD AND THE ENGINE WENT TO FULL POWER. HE TAPPED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, BUT IT WOULD NOT RELEASE; HE IMMEDIATELY SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL AND THE ENGINE STAYED AT FULL POWER. HE THEN TURNED OF THE IGNITION AND COASTED TO A STOP. HE ATTEMPTED TO RE-START THE VEHICLE, BUT IT WOULD NOT START. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS A FAILED THROTTLE PEDAL AND CONNECTOR. *JB
HEATING BLOWS COLD AIR DUE TO BLEND DOOR MALFUNCTION
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE INDICATOR DISPLAYED HOT AS THE ENGINE OVERHEATED WITH A BURNING ODOR. ALL THE INTERIOR WINDOWS BECAME EXTREMELY FOGGY AND THE ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS MANEUVERED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THERE WERE NO FLAMES VISIBLE. IN ADDITION, THE HEATER INTERMITTENTLY EMITTED COLD AIR THROUGH THE VENTS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO REPLACED THE HEATER CORE AND FLUSHED THE COOLING SYSTEM. ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS, THE THERMOSTAT WAS REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 102,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE WHEEL HUB AND WHEEL SENSOR WERE FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURES CONTINUED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 104,000.
I WAS BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPOT AND THE WHEEL LOCKED UP ON ME. I HAD AN EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TIME GETTING OUT OF THE PARKING LOT. I HAD SEVERAL WARNING LIGHTS ON AT ONE TIME AND THE GAS LEVEL IN THE CAR WAS NOT REGISTERING. I WAS TWO BLOCKS AWAY FROM MY HOUSE AT THE STORE SO I WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT HOME SAFE TO PARK MY CAR. THIS SAME INCIDENT HAPPENED TO ME A WEEK PRIOR TO THE DATE ON THE REPORT. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED, I PARKED THE CAR AND IT WAS FINE THE NEXT DAY. THIS TIME AROUND, WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE THE CAR THE NEXT DAY, I NOTICED THAT ALL THE SIGNAL LIGHTS WENT OFF, BUT THE STEERING WHEEL WAS STILL NOT FUNCTIONAL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE DEFROSTER WAS ACTIVATED, BUT FAILED TO DEFROST THE WINDSHIELD. THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TEMPERATURE CONTROL DOOR FRACTURED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 117,500.
VEHICLE STARTED OVERHEATING WITH A JUMPED IDLE, I REPLACED THE LOWER INTAKE, VALVE SEATS, O RINGS, 3 THERMOSTATS. IT HAS BEEN BLEED FOR TWO DAYS NOW, AT FIRST IT STARTED TO OVERHEAT WHILE DRIVING SO I BLED THE COOLING SYSTEM AND TRIED IT AGAIN. IT DROVE FANTASTIC DIDNT OVERHEAT AT ALL. I PULLED INTO MY PARKING SPOT WHICH THE CAR HAD BEEN RUNNING THERE FOR OVER AN HOUR NO PROBLEM. I THOUGHT THE PROBLEM WAS FIXED NOW ITS OVERHEATING PARKED AND ITS JUST INCONSISTENT AND LEAVING MY STRANDED
WHEN MY EQUINOX HIT 60,400 MILES IT WAS RUNNING FINE AND AFTER PARKING IT FOR 20 MINUTES IT SUDDENLY RAN HOT WHICH CAUSED THE HEADS TO WARP. CHEVROLET PAID $3000 TOWARDS THE REPAIR AND I PAID $1000. THEY CALLED IT A "GRACE WARRANTY" AND GAVE ME A 12 MONTH, 12,000 MILE WARRANTY ON THE REPAIR. THE CAR WAS REPAIRED BUT NEVER THE SAME AFTERWARDS. CONSTANT OVERHEATING AND COOLANT LOSS ISSUES. I HAVE FLUSHED THE SYSTEM. CHANGED THERMOSTATS TWICE,AND CHANGED THE CORROSIVE DEXCOOL ANTIFREEZE TO THE YELLOW NON CORROSIVE UNIVERSAL ANTIFREEZE. IT RAN GREAT FOR 1 MONTH THEN STARTED OVERHEATING AGAIN. THE COOLANT IS FULL, THERMOSTAT IS NEW. IT IS FINE WHILE DRIVING, HEAT BEGINS TO CLIMB WHEN STOPPED.
FAULTY GASKETS (HEAD GASKET AND INTAKE GASKET) LETS AIR INTO COOLING SYSTEM. THE ENGINE COOLANT WAS DISPLACED TO THE OVERFLOW TANK. I WAS AT A STOPLIGHT AND THE VEHICLE STARTED TO SPUTTER AS IT STARTED TO OVERHEAT, WAS ABLE TO GET THRU THE INTERSECTION TO A SERVICE STATION. GASKET REPAIRS ESTIMATED COST $2400.
