I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE (OUT OF STATE - HOURS AWAY FROM HOME), WHICH HAD A STEEP GRADE AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE LIGHTS ON THE DASH CAME ON AND THE CAR BEGAN TO SLOW DOWN. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. HAD TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED TO THE NEAREST DEALERSHIP. ENDED UP HAVING TO GET A NEW ENGINE ( WELL WARRANTY COMPANY PUT IN USED ENGINE THAT HAD 40,000 MILES ON IT). HAD TO RENT A CAR TO GET HOME AND TO GET BACK TO PICK UP THE CAR WEEKS LATER. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE RIGHT TURN SIGNAL MECHANISM WOULD ILLUMINATE CONTINUOUSLY WHEN ACTIVATED. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. IN ADDITION, THE DRIVER SIDE POWER WINDOW FAILED TO OPERATE. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT THE DRIVER SIDE HEADLIGHT BULB WAS REPLACED SIX TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE VIN AND FAILURE MILEAGE WERE UNAVAILABLE.
I HAVE NO HEAT OR DEFROSTERS. IS THERE A RECALL BECAUSE IT IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE WHEN COLD WEATHER IS PRESENT. SHOULD I FILE A LAW SUIT? I AM THE OWNER OF A 2006 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. BEGINNING IN FEBRUARY OF 2013, NOTICED THAT ABS AND TC LIGHT WERE COMING ON WHILE DRIVING, AND THAT FRONT BRAKES HAD CRUNCHING AND GRINDING SOUND, AND WOULD JAM WHEN BRAKES WERE HIT. HAD FRONT BRAKE REPLACED, AND NEW TIRES PUT ON, AND STILL HAD THE SAME PROBLEM HAPPENING. TOOK IT TO DAN VADEN DEALERSHIP ON FEB 26, 2013, WAS INFORMED THAT THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. ON MARCH 6, 2013 WHILE PRESSING BRAKES THEY JAMMED, AND HAD TO PULL VEHICLE OFF ROAD NOT TO HIT VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. ON MARCH 7, 2013 TOOK VEHICLE BACK TO DAN VANDEN DEALERSHIP, THEY SAID THEY REPLACED THE LEFT FRONT HUB ASSEMBLY FOR A CHARGE OF 593.28 (LABOR AND OTHER FEES). WHEN I PICKED THE VEHICLE UP THAT EVENING AND DROVE 1/2 MILE THE ABS AND TRACKING LIGHT CAME BACK ON WHILE DRIVING. DROVE VEHICLE BACK TO DEALERSHIP. I WAS GIVEN A COURTESY VEHICLE FOR A WEEK UNTIL THEY COULD FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS WRONG. IT IS NOW JUNE AND I AM EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM OF THE ABS AND TC LIGHT COMING ON, AND BRAKES JAMMING. I HAVE ALSO SEEN ALOT OF COMPLAINTS ON GOOGLE REGARDING THIS PROBLEM WITH THE SAME VEHICLE. WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHY THIS PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN REPORTED. *TR
MY HEATER QUIT BLOWING HOT AIR AND THUS, THE WINDOWS FOG UP. I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC AND IT IS THE BLEND DOOR. UPON FURTHER READING OF THIS PROBLEM, I HAVE FOUND THAT MANY 2006 EQUINOX HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. IT IS A 10 HOUR LABOR JOB AND SO 1000.00 TO REPLACE. SINCE THIS EFFECTS VISIBILITY, I FEEL IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING MOTOR HAD MALFUNCTIONED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECTIVE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000. P
THERE IS 241 SAFETY COMPLAINTS ON THE HEATER BLEND DOOR! THE BLEND DOOR ON THE 2006 EQUINOX IS DEFECTIVE CREATING A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD TO THE VEHICLE OCCUPANTS AND ANY ONE ELSE ONE THE ROAD. THE BLEND DOOR ACTUATOR ROTATES TO FAR CAUSING THE BLEND DOOR TO BREAK. THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN OVER A SHORT PERIOD BUT OVER A LONGER TIME FRAME. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUES ESPECIALLY WHEN IT GETS COLD. THE WINDSHIELD WILL FREEZE UP AND WITH NO HEAT THE DRIVER AND PASSENGERS COULD GET FROST BITE. THE NHTSA NEEDS TO ISSUES A SAFETY RECALL NOW BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT OR KILLED. WHAT IS THE NHTSA DOING ABOUT THIS IF ANYTHING? *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, HE ATTEMPTED TO ACTIVATE THE HEATER BUT TO NO AVAIL. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT ALL OF THE WINDOWS IN THE VEHICLE BECAME ICY, IN WHICH THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO VIEW THE ROADWAY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE A/C HEATER BLEND DOOR ACTUATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000 AND THE CURRENT FAILURE WAS 160,000.
I LIVE IN ALASKA WHERE IT DOES GET COLD DURING THE WINTER TIME. MY WIFE WAS DRIVING FROM ANCHORAGE TO OUR HOME ABOUT 45 MILES AWAY WHEN SHE HAD NO HEAT INSIDE HER CAR. I REPLACED THE THERMOSTAT AND SENSOR CHECK THE HEATER CORE ALL WERE FINE. I COULD NOT FIGURED OUT WHY NO HEAT. NO HEAT ALSO MEANT I COULD NOT DEFROST THE WINDSHIELD ( SAFETY HAZARD). I DID SOME RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET AND ASK OTHER EQUINOX OWNERS IF THEY HAD THE PROBLEM. I FOUND OUT THE BLEND DOOR BREAKS. THE REASON IT BREAKS IS THE BLEND DOOR MOTOR ROTATES TO FAR, BREAKING THE TABS ON THE DOOR. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHY THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL ON THIS SAFETY HAZARD? LOOK ON THE INTERNET AND YOU WILL FIND MANY OWNERS WHO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AND STILL THE NHTSA DOES NOTHING ABOUT THE PROBLEM, WHY? *TR
HEATER BLOWS COLD AIR IN WINTER
I LIVE IN FLORIDA, SO I DON'T NEED THE HEATER THAT OFTEN. LAST YEAR WHEN IT GOT COLD, I TURNED ON THE HEATER AND GOT NOTHING BUT COLD AIR BLOWING OUT. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO GET IT LOOKED AT AND WAS TOLD IT WOULD PROBABLY COST AROUND $1000 - $1500 TO FIX. THEY WOULD PROBABLY HAVE TO PULL OUT THE WHOLE DASH AND IT WAS VERY LABOR INTENSIVE. WHEN I LOOK ON THE INTERNET, I SEE NUMEROUS PEOPLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. I WOULD THINK CHEVROLET WOULD DO A RECALL. I GUESS IF THEY IGNORE IT, THAT IS A LOT OF MONEY THEY WILL BE SAVING. *TR
THE VEHICLE HAS NO HEAT AND ONLY BLOWS COLD AIR....DOES NOT ALLOW THE WINDOWS TO DEFROST AND IS A SAFETY HAZARD. *TR
THE CAR IS OVER HEATING EXCESSIVELY AND IT HAS ALSO AFFECTED THE HEATING SYSTEM IN MY CAR. I WAS TOLD BY CHEVROLET IN BRODHEADSVILLE, PA THAT IT WOULD COST ME $2,800.00. THIS PRICE IS EXTREMELY HIGH. UPON DOING RESEARCH, CHEVROLET, EQUINOX HAVE BEEN KNOW TO HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THE HEAD GASKET. THEY NEED TO DO A RECALL ON ALL OF THE CARS. *TR

WATER SWISHING NOISE IN DASH AREA. INCREASING DIFFICULTY TURNING KEY IN IGNITION SWITCH. MUST PULL IT OUT, TURN IT OVER AND PUSH UP AND TURN TO GET IT TO START CAR. AT 65,000 MILES DOOR FLAP ON A/C HEATER FAILED, WEATHER WAS 15-20 DEGREES F IN DECEMBER AND CAUSED HEATER AND DEFROST SYSTEM TO FAIL. WE, INCURRED A $1400 REPAIR BILL FOR A $129 PART, LABOR EXPENSIVE AS PART IS "DIFFICULT TO GET TO" . MANY OTHER COMPLAINTS FOR THESE SAME ISSUE ARE POSTED ON-LINE. DOES SOMEONE HAVE TO GET IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT OR DIE BEFORE THEY RECALL ANY OF THESE? *TR
HEATER BLOWS COLD AIR AND DEFROST DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY. *TR
I WAS DRIVING MY CHILD TO SCHOOL ONE MORNING AND THE HEATER STARTED BLOWING OUT COLD AIR. SOME TIME LATER, I TOOK MY CHEVY EQUINOX TO MY MECHANIC. HE SAID IT WOULD COST AROUND $1,000 TO REPAIR. THIS WAS A SHOCK BECAUSE MY MECHANIC IS VERY REPUTABLE; I HAVE USED HIM FOR YEARS. HE NEVER TRIES TO CHEAT ME OR ANY OF HIS OTHER CUSTOMERS. WHEN HE QUOTED ME THAT PRICE, THAT'S WHEN I KNEW SOMETHING WAS SERIOUSLY WRONG WITH MY CAR. I DON'T HAVE THAT KIND OF MONEY - I'M A SINGLE MOTHER OF 2 KIDS AND I WAS LAID OFF FROM MY JOB A FEW MONTHS AGO. I CALLED CHEVROLET 3 TIMES AND NOBODY WOULD HELP ME. IN THE MEANTIME, I DID SOME RESEARCH TO SEE IF ANY OTHER CONSUMERS HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS SAME PROBLEM. I FOUND OVER 600 COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER DRIVERS ABOUT THIS EXACT SAME ISSUE. I TOOK MY CAR TO A MECHANIC AGAIN AND WAS ADVISED THAT CHEVY/GM HASN'T ISSUED A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM (CAR HEATER BLOWING COLD AIR) BECAUSE IT WOULD NOT BE COST-EFFECTIVE FOR CHEVY TO FIX IT. THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT CHEVY/GM HAS KNOWN ABOUT AND, FROM WHAT I'VE SEEN, THE PROBLEM EXISTS IN CHEVY EQUINOX'S FROM ALL DIFFERENT MODEL YEARS. NOT ONLY WILL I NEVER BUY A CHEVY AGAIN, I AM FILING A CLASS-ACTION LAWSUIT AGAINST CHEVY/GM FOR FAILING TO ISSUE A RECALL TO FIX A KNOWN PROBLEM. EVEN IF I DID HAVE THE MONEY, I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR SOMETHING THAT THIS COMPANY KNOWS IS A PROBLEM. *TR
FAULTY TEMPERATURE BLEND DOOR. NO HEAT RESULTING IN NO DEFROST OR DEFOGGER. MAJOR PROBLEM WHEN LIVING IN THE MIDWEST IN THE COLD AND WET SEASON. YOU (GM) SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE PLASTIC PIECE BEING REPLACED, NOT THE CONSUMER. THIS SHOULD ALSO BE A RECALL ISSUE DUE TO THE SAFETY ISSUES THAT RESULT FROM THIS PROBLEM. *TR
A CHEAP PLASTIC PART (AIR TEMPERATURE CONTROL DOOR ) BREAKS AND YOU LOSE ALL HEAT AND CANNOT DEFROST OR DEFOG WINDOWS, AND AS SUCH HAVE VIRTUALLY NO VISIBILTY, WHICH IN MY OPINION IS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN. *TR

TOOK BACK TO LYNNSMITH HEATING UP AGAIN ,COULD NOT FIND PROBLEM 2ND TIME .OVER HEATED ON DEC 15 TH ,REPLACED THERMOSTAT GOOD FOR TO DAYS OVER HEATED A 3RD TIME BLUE ALL WARER OUT AGAIN AND WOULD NOT RESTART A REAL PROBLEM CAR NOT RUNNING AND PAYMENTS WONT STOP COMING. *TR

THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING WHERE THEY ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE ABS SYSTEM FAILED AND HAD BEEN REPLACED. THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 152,000.
NO WARM AIR FROM DEFROSTER HEATER. THERMOSTAT REPLACED, PROBLEM NOT SOLVED. MECHANIC TOLD ME HEATER DOOR BLEND DOOR BROKEN. NO RECALLS, EVEN THOUGH COMMON PROBLEM. 2010 EQUINOX REPORTED SAME PROBLEM AND HAS RECALL. APPROX $ 1000 REPAIR AND DEFINITE SAFETY ISSUE. GM SHOULD RECALL 2006 EQUINOX ALSO. *TR
I WOULD PRESS THE BRAKE AND IT FELT LIKE THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE WAS ENGAGED. AFTER A FEW TIMES, THE ABS LIGHT CAME ON THE DASHBOARD. IN OCTOBER 2012, I TOOK IT TO A CHEVROLET DEALER TO GET IT DIAGNOSED AND FIXED. THEY REPLACED THE LEFT FRONT ABS SENSOR. THEN I WENT FOR ALMOST A MONTH WITHOUT AN INCIDENT AND NOW IT HAS STARTED AGAIN. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER, THIS LAST WEEK OF NOV. 2012, AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY WILL NOT REPLACE THE SENSOR BECAUSE THE ABS LIGHT IS NOT ON, AND THAT THEY ARE NOT JUST GOING TO TEAR INTO EVERYTHING BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT SURE WHAT IS WRONG. I AM WORRIED ABOUT MY SAFETY OF MYSELF AND THOSE WITH WHOM I TRAVEL. *TR
I HAVE A 2006 CHEVY EQUINOX THAT THE HEATER DOES NOT WORK. THE BLOWER FAN AND ALL THE SWITCHES ARE FINE. WHEN I TURN THE TEMP KNOB TO HOT AIR, ONLY GET COLD COME OUT. DOES NOT MATTER WHAT SETTING THE MODE DOOR IS IN. VEHICLE NO LONGER BLOWS HOT AIR WHEN HEAT IS ON THEREFORE THE DEFROSTER WILL NOT BLOW HOT AIR AS WELL. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD! IF WINDOWS ARE FOGGED OR ICED DURING INCLEMENT WEATHER YOU CAN NOT SEE AND COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT RESULTING IN FATALITIES. I FOUND OVER 500 COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEM ON THE INTERNET. PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE WITH A PLASTIC TEMPERATURE DOOR VALVE (TEMPERATURE BLEND DOOR) THAT IS BROKEN.THE COST IS OVER 1,000 AND I AM BEING TOLD GM WILL NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. I HAVE TWO SMALL CHILDREN AND WE ARE FREEZING IN MY CAR THAT I BOUGHT TO BE A "FAMILY" VEHICLE. THIS IS JUST ONE MORE PROBLEM TO THE LIST OF THINGS I HAVE ALREADY HAD FIXED IN THIS CAR SINCE I BOUGHT IT. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON A COLD AND RAINY DAY, MY WINDOWS BEGAN TO GET FOGGY. I TURNED ON MY DEFROST AND MY WINDOWS CONTINUED TO GET WORSE. I THEN NOTICE IT WAS BLOWING COLD AIR I TURNED THE KNOBS TO SEE IF I HAD IT ON AIR CONDITIONING INSTEAD OF DEFROST BUT IT WAS ON THE CORRECT SETTING. I BECAME VERY AFRAID BECAUSE I COULDN'T SEE OUT OF MY WINDSHIELD! I HAD TO KEEP WIPING OFF THE WINDSHIELD WITH A TOWEL JUST TO GET TO WORK. I THEN I HAD TO REPEAT THE SAME PROCESS RETURNING HOME. I RESEARCHED THE PROBLEM AND FOUND THAT THIS COMMON IN 2006 CHEVY EQUINOX THERE IS A PLASTIC PIECE THAT BREAKS AFTER CONSTANT USE(HEATER BLEND DOOR) AND IT WILL CAUSE THE DEFROST TO ONLY BLOW EITHER COLD OR HOT AIR. I WAS TOLD IT WOULD COST 800-1000 TO FIX OR MORE DEPENDING WHO FIXES IT. I AM SO AFRAID TO DRIVE THIS CAR IN RAINY WEATHER AND SOON WINTER WILL ARRIVE. GM SHOULD REALLY REPLACE THIS PART BEFORE SOMEONE DIES FROM A FAULTY PIECE OF PLASTIC. *TR
THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN DIFFICULT TO CRANK, YOU HAVE TO MANIPULATE THE STEERING COLUMN, AND REPEATEDLY TRY TO CRANK IT. KEY IS DIFFICULT TO REMOVE. ON SEPT 29, 2014, THE KEY CAME OUT OF IGNITION WHILE IN DRIVE. I REPORTED TO GM AT 18002221020 AT 8AM ON SEPT 30, TO , WHO TOOK DETAILS, AND SAID A SR. SERVICE ADVISOR WOULD CALL ME IN 24-48 HOURS. NO ONE DID. I CALLED GM BACK TODAY AND SPOKE TO A HISPANIC MAN, WHO SAID [XXX] IS THE SR. ADVISOR ASSIGNED BUT SHE IS NOT AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME. I LEFT A VOICE MAIL FOR HER. I ALSO CONTACTED RIVERSIDE CHEVROLET IN WETUMPKA ALABAMA, AND WAS TOLD A SERVICE PERSON WOULD CALL ME BACK. CAR WAS PARKED AND MY DAUGHTER WENT TO LEAVE TO COME HOME AND CAR WOULD NOT START. WE TRIED TO JUMP IT, BUT IT STILL WOULD NOT START. I BELIEVE IT MAY BE A PASS LOCK ISSUE. *TR
I RECENTLY PURCHASED A USED 2006 CHEVY EQUINOX (130,000 MILES), WHEN I TRIED TO DEFROST MY WINDSHIELD ONLY COLD AIR BLEW CAUSING THE WINDSHIELD TO FOG UP. I COULD NOT SEE AND ALMOST WENT OFF THE ROAD. AFTER AN HOUR LONG WHITE-KNUCKLE RIDE THE DEFROST STILL ONLY BLEW COLD AIR. I LIVE IN THE EXTREME NORTH-EAST WHERE WE HAVE AN EXCEPTIONALLY LONG WINTER WHICH HASN'T EVEN STARTED. I AM AFRAID THAT THIS PROBLEM (AND I AM NOT ANYWHERE NEAR THE ONLY ONE) WILL RESULT IN A SITUATION WHERE I AND THE DRIVERS AROUND ME COULD BE PUT IN A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. *TR *JS
WHEN DRIVING MY VEHICLE AT SPEEDS OF 10-35MPH MY BRAKES LOCK UP AND MAKE A LOUD GRINDING NOISE. THE PEDAL PUSHES BACK AT ME AND IT IS DIFFICULT TO STOP. IT'S ALMOST AS IF THE VEHICLE IS TRYING TO ACCELERATE WHEN I'M TRYING TO STOP IT. THE PROBLEM EVENTUALLY FIXES ITSELF BY TURNING OFF ITS ABS SYSTEM... THE ABS AND TC LIGHTS COME ON AND THEN I DON'T HAVE ANOTHER PROBLEM UNTIL I HAVE TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE AND TURNED IT BACK ON AGAIN. IT HAPPENS EVERYTIME I GET IN MY CAR...AND SOMETIME DOES NOT CORRECT ITSELF UNTIL REACHING HIGHER SPEEDS. I HAVE HAD MANY OCCURRENCES WHEN I WAS ALMOST IN AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF THE INABILITY TO STOP. I HAVE CONTACTED GM AND MY LOCAL DEALER...IT WAS DIAGNOSED AS AN ABS MODULE THAT NEEDS REPLACING. EVER SINCE I GOT THIS VEHICLE I HAVE ALWAYS HEARD WHAT SOUNDS LIKE WATER IN THE DASH, I'VE BEEN READING THAT IT IS A KNOWN PROBLEM AND IT CONTRIBUTES TO THE ANTIFREEZE WHICH IN SOME CASES LEAKED OUT OF THE AIR VENTS INTO THE VEHICLE. I'VE ALSO HAD MY HEATER BLEND DOOR GO BAD AND GOT THAT REPLACED. MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON ALL THE TIME BECAUSE OF THE GAS CAP. LEAKING ANTIFREEZE SOME WHERE AND FROM WHAT I READ IT GOES INTO THE ENGINE HEADS AND CAUSES DAMAGE THERE. THIS IS MY DAILY DRIVE AND I DRIVE ABOUT 50 MILES A DAY 6 OR 7 DAYS A WEEK. ALL I DO IS PUT MONEY INTO IT ON PARTS SINCE I GOT IT. *TR
AS REPORTED BY OTHER EQUINOX OWNERS, THE ELECTRONIC STEERING CUTS OUT RANDOMLY WHILE DRIVING. AS IT IS DIFFICULT TO REPLICATE THE PROBLEM, I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIND A MECHANIC WHO CAN WORK OUT WHY IT DOES THIS. THE ELECTRONIC STEERING CAN CUT BACK IN AS QUICK AS IT DROPS OUT, THAT MAKES DRIVING VERY DANGEROUS. THE ONLY ADVICE I HAVE BEEN GIVEN, IS TO REPLACE THE WHOLE STEERING COLUMN & ELECTRICS AT A GREAT COST WITH NO GUARANTEE THAT THIS WILL RECTIFY THE ISSUE. VERY SHOCKED THAT GM IS NOT RESPONDING TO THESE ISSUES. I GUESS THERE WILL HAVE TO BE A FATALITY BEFORE THEY SIT UP & LISTEN. *TR
I HAVE A 2006 EQUINOX WHICH I BOUGHT IN 2010. WHILE I HAD VARIOUS "OF AGE" REPAIRS, SUCH AS FUEL SYSTEM ISSUES AND A FAN MOTOR; WITH THE AGE AND MILEAGE, THEY SEEMED NORMAL. IN 2013 I REPLACED THE EGR VALVE AND TRANSMISSION SPEED SENSOR SIMULTANEOUSLY; AS THE CODE WAS FOR EGR, BUT WOULD ONLY INTERMITTENTLY KICK IN THE TSS CODE (THE CAR DIED IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC 3 TIMES BEFORE I COULD GET THE CODE TO STAY SO WE COULD FIND THE PROBLEM). AMONG LOOKING ONLINE FOR THE PROBLEM, IT WAS COMMON, BUT MY DEALER WOULD NOT FIX WITHOUT THE CODE. JUNE, 2014, THE BRAKES STARTED PULSATING ON THE CAR IN LOW SPEEDS. I WOULD HAVE TO PUMP THE BRAKES TO GET IT TO STOP. TWICE, PUMPING THE BRAKES AT AN INTERSECTION FAILED, AND NEARLY RESULTED IN A WRECK WITH MY DAUGHTER IN THE CAR. THE ABS AND TC LIGHTS WOULD COME ON INTERMITTENTLY. I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC: HE EVALUATED EACH CONNECTION AND CLEANED THEM, WHERE THE ABS HARNESS CONNECTS TO THE MAIN HARNESS. HE FOUND NO DISCREPANCIES. AFTER 2 MORE MONTHS OF DANGEROUS DRIVING, AND A WHOLE NEW SET OF BRAKES (ALL 4), ONLINE RESEARCH PREVAILED ONCE AGAIN. THIS PROBLEM WAS COMMON; AND SUGGESTED A RATHER CHEAP FIX. THE 18 IN WIRE HARNESS FROM THE WHEEL SPEED SENSOR TO THE MAIN HARNESS HAD AN ISSUE. SURE ENOUGH I, A WOMAN, AFTER BEING TOLD THE DEALERSHIP DIDN'T CARRY THE PART, ORDERED IT ONLINE AND REPLACED IT IN 15 MINUTES. NO PROBLEMS SINCE THEN. MAY, 2015. WHAT APPEARED TO BE A THERMOSTAT ISSUE ENDED UP BEING A COOLANT RESERVOIR PROBLEM. THE RESERVOIR WAS BROKEN, WHERE THE PLASTIC NIPPLE THAT COMES OUT THE BOTTOM ATTACHES WITH THE HOSE. AFTER I CONTACTED ALL PARTS STORES IN THE AREA, I WAS TOLD WHILE IT WAS COMMON FOR CHEVROLET TRUCKS AND EQUINOX VEHICLES, THE EQUINOX PART WAS NO MADE AVAILABLE TO THE PARTS STORES. I HAD TO SPECIAL ORDER ONLINE, THANK GOODNESS IT WORKED.
ON AUG. 26TH,2012 MY 2006 CHEVY EQUINOX BROKE DOWN I TOWED IT TO THE MECHANIC AND FOUND OUT MY FUEL PUMP WAS CRACKED AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. I PAID $750 DOLL FOR PARTS AND LABOR ,2 WKS BEFORE THAT HAPPENED MY CAR WAS GIVING OFF A FUEL SMELL AND WOULDN'T START UNLESS I PRESSED THE GAS PEDAL THAT WORKED UNTIL IT FINALLY BROKE DOWN .GM IS RECALLING EQUINOX 2007-09 FOR FUEL INJECTOR PROBLEMS CAUSING TO LEAK GAS CAUSING A FUEL SMELL AND IN DANGER OF THE CAR CATCHING FIRE BECAUSE OF GAS LEAKAGE AND ALSO DAMAGING THE FUEL PUMP MY CAR IS A 2006 BUT HAS THAT SAME PROBLEM EVEN AFTER A NEW FUEL PUMP ITS STILL GIVING ME THE SAME PROBLEMS I THINK ITS MY FUEL INJECTOR AND GM NEEDS TO ALSO RECALL MODEL YR 2006 I'M AFRAID I WILL NEED A NEW EXP FUEL PUMP AGAIN SOON OR WORSE MY CAR COULD CATCH ON FIRE THEREFORE I'M PRAYING GM DOES THE RIGHT THING AND INCLUDE THE CHEVY EQUINOX 2006 IN ITS RECALL BECAUSE THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS AND EXPENSIVE PROBLEM . WHEN ACCELERATING FROM 0 TO 10 MPH, THE TRANSMISSION CUTS OUT AND THE VEHICLE JERKS AND BUCKS LIKE IT WANTS TO DIE. THIS HAPPENS ALL THE TIME FROM SOON AFTER I BOUGHT IT NEW. THIS OCCURS SOMETIMES WHEN PULLING OUT ON THE HIGHWAY AND I HAVE TO QUICKLY PULL MY FOOT OFF OF THE GAS TO MAKE IT STOP AND PUSH IT AGAIN. WHEN YOU'RE ALREADY PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC, IT IS A SAFETY HAZARD IF YOU DON'T REACT QUICKLY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO TO ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 121,000. I HAD JUST BOUGHT THIS CAR WITH ONE PREVIOUS OWNER FROM A LOCAL CHEVY DEALER. I NOTICED THAT SOMETIMES WHEN I USE THE BLINKER, MY BRIGHTS WOULD COME ON AND I WOULD BE UNABLE TO TURN THEM OFF. THEN MY STEERING WHEEL COLUMN WOULD START TO SMOKE. I WOULD PULL OVER AND TURN OFF THE VEHICLE AND IT TOOK SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO START THE VEHICLE AGAIN. THIS HAS NOT LEAD TO A FIRE YET, BUT VERY EASILY COULD. THIS HAS HAPPENED ABOUT HALF A DOZEN TIMES IN A MONTH. THE DEALER WHOM I HAD JUST BOUGHT IT FROM REFUSED TO HELP COVER THE COST OF THE REPAIR OF THIS PIECE. I AM NOW PAYING FOR THE REPAIR MYSELF. WAS DRIVING GETTING ONTO FREEWAY (ON THE ON RAMP) CAR COMPLETELY LOST POWER. COULDN'T GET OUT OF THE LANE ONTO SHOULDER ALL THE WAY. IN RUSH HOUR OF COURSE. CAR WOULD START BUT AS SOON AS I PUT IT IN DRIVE AND TRIED TO PULL IT OVER MORE IT WOULD LOSE ALL POWER AGAIN. HAD A TODDLER AND BABY IN 95 HEAT ON SIDE OF FREEWAY. HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED. TRIED TO DIVE IT NEXT DAY, DIED AGAIN. TURNS OUT, WHEN EVER THE TURN SIGNALS/FLASHERS ARE USED, IT KILLS ALL POWER IN THE CAR. CAUSING IT TO STALL IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. I HAVE A 2006 EQUINOX THAT I BOUGHT USED WITH 91,000 MILES ON IT. ONLY ONE PREVIOUS OWNER WITH CLEAN CAR FAX. I LOVE THE CAR, BUT AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK IT ACTS LIKE IT DOESN'T WANT TO CRANK. I SOMETIMES HAVE TO PUSH THE GAS PEDAL TO EVEN GET IT TO CRANK. I'M ASSUMING THIS A FUEL PRESSURE PROBLEM OF SOME SORT. ALSO, ONCE CRANKED THE CAR WILL SOMETIMES IDLE ITSELF DOWN FROM 1 RPM TO 0 RPM THEN BACK TO 1 RPM. THERE IS ALSO A CLUNKING NOISE COMING FROM BACK END OF CAR WHERE THE FUEL PUMP IS. I HAVE ALSO HAD ISSUES WITH HAVING THE HEADLIGHTS REPLACED BECAUSE WATER GETS INTO THE HEADLIGHTS. MOST OF THE EQUINOX'S THAT I SEE ON THE ROAD HAVE WATER IN THE HEADLIGHTS. THIS A SAFETY HAZARD BECAUSE THE HEADLIGHT BULBS WILL BURST WHEN WET AND YOU HAVE NO HEADLIGHT UNTIL YOU HAVE IT FIXED. (WHICH YOU HAVE TO REPLACE THE HEADLIGHTS/TAIL LIGHTS YOURSELF BECAUSE PART STORES REFUSE TO DO THE LABOR FOR YOU BECAUSE YOU HAVE TO REMOVE THE ENTIRE HEADLIGHT TO EVEN REPLACE A BULB. THIS SEEMS TO ME THAT CHEVROLET DID THAT SO IF YOU ARE A WOMAN, LIKE MYSELF, YOU ARE FORCED TO TAKE IT SOMEWHERE AND HAVE IT REPLACED.) THERE ARE ALSO ISSUES WITH THE BRAKES AND ROTORS WEARING TOO FAST. I HAVE ALSO HAD ISSUES WITH THE AIR CONDITIONER. I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE RESISTOR ON THE BLOWER MOTOR TWICE IN 2 YEARS. THESE MAY NOT BE BIG PROBLEMS TO GM, BUT I RELY ON MY CAR TO TAKE ME TO WORK AND SCHOOL AND THE FACT THAT THEY GENUINELY DON'T CARE HAS FORCED ME TO NOT WANT TO BUY ANOTHER CHEVROLET AGAIN. MY 2006 CHEVY EQUINOX HAS NOW HAD THREE SEPARATE INCIDENCES OF SPONTANEOUS ENGINE TURN OVER. THE FIRST WAS IN MAY OF 2012, NEXT IN APRIL 2013, FOLLOWED BY AUGUST 2013. ON EACH OCCASION; THE CAR WAS PARKED AND LOCKED AT THE TIME THAT IT SPONTANEOUSLY STARTED. WITH EACH EVENT I HAD TO PUT THE KEY IN THE IGNITION, PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE, MOVE IT A COUPLE FEET, FOLLOWED BY SHIFTING TO DRIVE AND MOVING FORWARD. IT WAS ONLY THEN THAT I WAS THEN ABLE RETURN THE CAR TO PARK AND TURN OFF THE ENGINE. MY CAR IS NOT EQUIPPED WITH A REMOTE STARTER KIT, AND NEVER HAD ONE IN THE PAST. I HAVE NO IDEA WHY THE CAR STARTED ON IT'S OWN, AND CERTAINLY CONSIDER THIS TO BE A SAFETY ISSUE. *JS

I BROUGHT IT TO A CHEVY DEALER TO DIAGNOSE THE CAUSE FOR THE LACK OF HEAT AND THEY REPORTED THAT THE TEMP BLEND DOOR WAS BROKEN INSIDE THE HVAC CASE. IT IS VERY COSTLY TO FIX AND IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. IT IS CLEAR FROM THIS WEBSITE THAT THIS IS A MAJOR ISSUE WITH THE THIS MAKE, MODEL, AND YEAR. IT IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY ISSUE...ON THE COLD RAINY MORNINGS IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO HAVE ANY VISIBILITY WITH A BROKEN HVAC SYSTEM AND NO DEFROST FOR THE WINDSHIELD NOT TO MENTION THE INABILITY TO CLEAR THE WINDSHIELD OF ICE AND SNOW IN THE WINTER MONTHS! THIS PART NEEDS TO BE RECALLED AND CHEVROLET HAS TO BE HELD RESPONSIBLE AND OFFER A SOLUTION SO DRIVERS CAN REMAIN SAFE ON THE ROADS. *TR
