WARNING LIGHT TO SERVICE AIR BAG HAS COME ON AND NEVER TURNS OFF. I HAVE TAKEN CAR IN TO HAVE THIS CHECKED AND TECHNICIANS CANNOT FIND THE PROBLEM OR FIX IT. NOT SURE IF AIR BAGS WILL FUNCTION ON IMPACT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE MISFIRED WITH A REDUCTION OF ENGINE POWER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS CONTRIBUTED TO THE FAULTY SPARK PLUG WIRES. THE FAILURE CAUSED THE SPARK PLUGS TO FRACTURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 107,000.
INACTIVE AIR BAGS. LIGHTS CONTINUALLY STAY ON THAT AIR BAGS ARE NOT WORKING. IS THIS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT?
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING WHEN THE BRAKES BEGAN TO SEIZE AND THERE WAS A BURNING SMELL. SHE CONTINUED TO ATTEMPT TO DRIVE AND THE CAR WAS SLOW TO ACCELERATE WHICH CAUSED THE CAR TO OVERHEAT. THE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AND ADVISED TO TURN OFF AC AND STOP CAR. SHE STATED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS VERY HARD TO PRESS. SHE STOPPED THE CAR ALLOWED IT TO COOL DOWN THEN PROCEEDED TO CAUTIOUSLY DRIVE HOME. I IMMEDIATELY DROVE IT AND NOTICED A SLIGHT BURN SCENT BUT THE CAR SEEMED TO BE OK OTHER THAN THE POWER BRAKES WERE NO LONGER FUNCTIONAL. AFTER THE CAR SAT FOR 6-7 HOURS I DROVE IT FOR ABOUT 1/2 HOUR WITH THE POWER BRAKES NOW FUNCTIONING. I TOOK IT TO THE SHOP AND HAD ENTIRE SYSTEM (CALIPERS, ROTORS, PADS, LINES, ETC.) EXAMINED AND AT THAT TIME IT COULD NOT BE REPLICATED. MY WIFE DROVE IT THE FOLLOWING DAY AND AFTER 25 MINUTES OF INTERSTATE DRIVING THE POWER BRAKES WERE AGAIN NOT FUNCTIONING. SHE PARKED IT FOR 3 DAYS AT THE AIRPORT AND UPON HER RETURN THE POWER BRAKES WORKED FOR ABOUT 15 MINUTES BEFORE THEY NO LONGER WORKED.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL PUMP WAS CRACKED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 09V419000 (FUEL SYSTEM GASOLINE). THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,000.
AFTER LIFTING THE LIFT GATE IT FELL AND HIT ME ON TOP OF MY HEAD AND KNOCKED ME TO THE GROUND, THE LIFT GATE NO LONGER PULLS UP EASILY.
WHILE DRIVING EITHER ON CITY OR FREEWAY THE CAR STARTED SHAKING, JERKING, AND VIBRATING REALLY BADLY WHEN APPLIED PRESSURE TO THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT GAIN SPEED, INSTEAD IT WOULD SLOW DOWN AND IT FELT LIKE GAS WAS NOT GOING TROUGH. IT FIRST STARTED 3 MONTHS AGO TOOK IT TO FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND THE RECOMMENDATION I RECEIVED FROM SERVICE AGENT WAS TO GET FUEL SYSTEM CLEANED AND CHANGE THE TRANSMISSION FLUIDS WHICH COST ME AROUND $298. THE SAME DAY IT DID THE SAME THING WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY, SO I LET IT BE FOR A WHILE BUT IT CONTINUES WITH THE SAME PROBLEM AND HAVE CONTACTED SERVICE AGENT BUT HAVE NO SOLUTION FOR ME. THE OTHER ISSUE IT HAS IS THE KEY ALWAYS GETS STUCK, AND NEED TO TURN THE CAR BACK ON THEN TURN THE WHEEL, BUT SOMETIMES IT TAKES MORE THAN THIS TO GET THE KEY OUT FROM THE IGNITION SWITCH.

OVER THE PAST FEW DAYS, MY STABILITRAK LIGHT HAD COME ON AND OFF WHILE DRIVING OR JUST SITTING IN THE CAR. PULLING INTO MY DRIVEWAY TODAY I NOTICED THAT THE LIGHT CAME BACK ON FOR THE STABILITRAK AND THEN IT BECAME INCREASING HARD TO MANEUVER MY STEERING WHEEL. I PULLED INTO MY DRIVEWAY AND CUT OFF THE IGNITION WAITED A FEW MINUTES AND TURNED THE CAR BACK ON TO SEE IF THIS WOULD HELP BUT TO NO AVAIL. I HAVE NOW TAKEN THE CAR TO MY LOCAL CHEVROLET DEALER.

DRIVING DOWN THE STREET AND I HEAR WARNING SIGNAL LOOK DOWN AT DASH IT SAYS STABILIZERTRACK

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER'S DOOR FAILED TO OPEN FROM THE INSIDE. THE DOOR WAS OPENED BY PULLING THE WINDOW DOWN. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AT 866-790-5600 AND STATED THAT THE CONTACT NEEDED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER. CASE NUMBER: 8-3496059432 WAS PROVIDED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 96,000.

MY PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG IS NOT WORKING HAD REPLACED ONCE UNDER WARRENTY NVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT LIGHT ON AGAIN CHECKED MANY OWNERS EXPERIENCE SAME ISSUE COST BETWEEN 300 AND 600 DOLLARS FOR REPAIR CANNOT LET ANYONE RIDE IN FRONT SEAT CANNOT AFFORD REPAIR.
TAKATA RECALL. ON MARCH 29TH 2015 I WAS INVOLVED IN A AUTO ACCIDENT. AS A RESULT OF THAT ACCIDENT, I SUFFERED A BROKEN WRIST, BROKEN JAW, AND THE LOSS OF MY LEFT EYE. ALL OF THESE INJURIES WERE THE RESULT OF MY VEHICLES AIRBAG SYSTEM. IN THE ACCIDENT, NONE OF MY WINDOWS WERE BROKEN, THERE WERE NO LOOSE ITEMS IN THE VEHICLE. THE ONLY THING IN THE VEHICLE THAT HIT ME WAS THE AIRBAG AND ITS IS THE ONLY THING WHICH HAD BLOOD ON IT IN THE VEHICLE. I WAS WEARING MY SEATBELT AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT. I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY (ATLANTIC CITY EXPRESSWAY) WHEN A TURNPIKE COMMISSION VEHICLE MADE A U-TURN AND TURNED UP IN FRONT OF ME LEADING TO THE ACCIDENT. MY VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING ON A FLAT HIGHWAY AT NIGHT, ON A STRAIGHT SECTION OF ROAD AT THAT TIME. I WAS THEN TRAPPED INSIDE MY VEHICLE FOR AN HOUR UNTIL RESCUE WORKERS HAD TO CUT ME OUT SO THAT I COULD BE FLOWN TO THE NEAREST TRAUMA UNIT. MY YEAR VEHICLE IS ALSO THE SAME YEAR THAT ALL OTHER CHEVY VEHICLES (AVALANCHE, SILVERADO LD/HD, TAHOE, AND SUBURBON) ON THE RECALL STARTED WHICH IS 2007. MY CHEVY EQUINOX WHICH IS ALSO IN THEIR SUV / TRUCK LINEUP IS NO DIFFERENT FROM THOSE AND USED THE SAME AIRBAG, TAKATA.
THE SPEEDOMENTER QUITS WORKING IT WILL WORK OFF AND ON AT WILL ,I HAVE HAD IT IN THE SHOP 3 TIMES WHEN IT QUITS WORKING THE STABILITY CONTROL LIGHT STARTS FLASHING SAYING IT NEEDS SERVICE , I AM AFRAID IT WILL QUIT WORKING ALL TOGETHER.

THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE AND WAS LATER TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING COMPUTER FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000.
NOTICED THE PAINT IS PEELING OFF THE BACK LIFT GATE. IT HAS CONTINUED TO PEEL SINCE. THERE IS NO RUST. TOOK IT TO A DEALER AND HE SAID HE THOUGHT THERE WAS A RECALL DUE TO THE PAINT NOT ADHERING CORRECTLY. IT'S THE ONLY AREA ON THE VEHICLE AND IT LOOKS TERRIBLE. PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF THIS IS COVERED BY GM. THANK YOU

APPROACHING DRIVEWAY AND SUDDENLY THE SPEEDOMETER SHOWED I WAS DOING 90 MPH AND I KNEW THIS WAS INCORRECT AS I WAS SLOWING DOWN TO MAKE A TURN OFF OF A HIGHWAY. NOW THE SPEEDOMETER MAY WORK CORRECTLY FOR A FEW MILES AND THEN IT SHOWS THAT I AM DRIVING A SPEED ABOVE WHAT IS ALLOWED OR WHAT I KNOW IS UNTRUE. TOOK TO A MECHANIC AND HE SAYS THE SPEEDOMETER MOTOR NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. FOR PAST 3 YEARS THE CHECK TIRE SENSOR MONITOR COMES ON WHEN MAKING A LONG DISTANCE TRIP. FOR PAST 2 YEARS THE PASSENGER AIRBAG LIGHT COMES ON WHENEVER ANYONE SITS ON PASSENGER SIDE. MECHANIC SAYS CLUSTER PANEL NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THIS VEHICLE WILL BE TRADED FOR SOMETHING ELSE AS I FEEL UNSAFE IN IT NOW. *TR

17 YR OLD DAUGHTER DRIVING HOME FROM SCHOOL AND POWER STEERING FAILED. DEALER DIAGNOSED PROBLEM AS A FAILED POWER STEERING MODULE. COST TO REPLACE $730.00. SEEMS THAT WITH ALL THE COMPLAINTS AND SIMILAR RECALLS ON OTHER GM VEHICLES, GM SHOULD ISSUE A RECALL AS THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A KNOWN DEFECT AND HAS THE POTENTIAL TO RESULT IN SERIOUS OR FATAL INJURY. *TR
LESS THAN 4,000 MILES DRIVEN AFTER I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AS IT WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF 2ND GEAR. THE HEATER CORE ALSO EXPLODED ON THE WAY TO THE DEALERSHIP TO ASSESS THE TRANSMISSION ISSUES. AROUND 20-25,000 MILES AFTER PURCHASE THE ENGINE COOLANT TEMP GAUGE STOPPED REPORTING TEMPERATURES CORRECTLY AND WOULD REDLINE EVEN IF THE CAR WAS OFF FOR OVER 2 DAYS IT WOULD START UP WAY ABOVE THE NORMAL OPERATING TEMPERATURE. THE FUEL GUAGE NO LONGER CORRECTLY INDICATES HOW MUCH GAS IS LEFT IN THE TANK AND WILL NOT MOVE OFF OF EMPTY EVEN AFTER PUMPING 13 GALLONS INTO THE TANK. VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY AT A RED LIGHT WHEN HEATER CORE BLEW OUT. VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN DURING TRANSMISSION, TEMPERATURE, AND GAS GAUGE FAILURES.

AIRBAG LIGHT, TPMS, STABILITY LIGHT, HEADLIGHT AND TAILLIGHTS GO OUT ALOT. CALLED CHEVY PLACE AOUT RECALLS AND WAS TOLD MINE IS NOT RECALLED BUT PROBLEMS WITH MY CAR ARE SAME AS RECALL. THEY FIXED GAS LINE RECALL, TOOK IT TO WHERE I BOUGHT IT 2 OR 3 TIMES BUT NEVER GOT FIXED. MY SPEEDOMETER ALSO BEEN OUT SINCE GETTING CAR BRAKE LIGHTS ALWAYS COMING ON AS WELL, OTHER PROBLEMS AS WELL. DOESNT SEEM CHEVY MAKES A GOOD VEHICLE.
THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING WENT OUT BRIEFLY. I MANAGED TO GET TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND SHUT THE CARE OFF AND RESTARTED IT AND THEN IT SEEMED TO WORK JUST FINE. IT HAS HAPPENED A COUPLE OF OTHER TIMES BUT I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO BE IN A PARKING LOT. I HAVE NEVER SEEN ANY RECALLS ON THIS BUT I HAVE NOTICED ALOT OF COMPLAINTS. *TR
THE RIGHT FRONT PASSENGER SEAT IS BUILT WITH A PASSENGER SENSING SYSTEM. WHENEVER THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT IS OCCUPIED, AND SOMETIMES WHEN IT IS NOT OCCUPIED, AN ERROR IN THE SEAT SENSOR CALIBRATION CAUSES THE 'CHECK AIR BAG' LIGHT TO COME ON.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE POWER STEERING FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE ELECTRONIC FUEL PUMP FAILED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
MY 19 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK AT APPROXIMATELY 11 PM ON SUNDAY, OCTOBER 5, 2014 ON A STRAIGHT STREET GOING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH IN OUR 2007 CHEVROLET EQUINOX WHEN BOTH THE DRIVER & PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED FOR NO APPARENT REASON. IT SCARED HER HALF TO DEATH, AND LUCKILY SHE DID NOT GET IN TO AN ACCIDENT. I CALLED OUR LOCAL CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP TO REPORT THE ISSUE & REQUEST SERVICE. I WAS TOLD THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS & THAT I SHOULD FILE WITH MY INSURANCE COMPANY. I CONTACTED MY INSURANCE COMPANY & WAS TOLD NO COLLISION, NO CLAIM. I THEN WENT BACK TO THE SERVICE MANAGER & HE PROCEEDED TO TELL ME THAT THE CAR PROBABLY THOUGHT IT WAS GOING TO TIP OVER--REALLY? LONG STORY SHORT, I HAVE CALLED GM PRODUCT DEPARTMENT & FILED A CLAIM WITH THEM, AND THE DEALERSHIP HAS HAD MY CAR FOR OVER A WEEK, AND THEY HAVE NOT HEARD FROM GM. I WAS TOLD BY THE PRODUCT SPECIALIST THAT AN INSPECTOR WAS GOING TO CHECK THE CAR & LET ME KNOW WHAT THE COMPUTER SAYS OF WHY THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF SUCH A THING, AND THEY ARE SAYING IT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME ESPECIALLY IN SUV'S. I HAVE OWNED AN SUV SINCE 2005 & HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED AN ISSUE WITH THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYING WITHOUT A COLLISION. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ANY ONE ELSE & HOW I CAN HANDLE THIS MALFUNCTION OF THE AIR BAGS. I FEEL THAT THIS IS AN ISSUE WITH FAULTY AIR BAGS, NOT MY FINANCIAL ISSUE. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL NOT GO OFF. HAD ENGINE CHECK, IT ALWAYS SMELL LIKE GASS IS LEAKING. WHEN DOWN TO 60...70 MILES TO EMPTY. WHEN YOU OPEN THE GAS TANK THERE IS AIR FLOWING OR GAS DRAINING. WHEN THE NOISE STOPS, THEN YOU CAN PUMP THE GAS WITH OUT THE GAS PUMP STOPPING. THE LIGHT AND BLINKERS ARE CONSTANTLY HAVING TO BE REPLACED.

2007 CHEVROLET EQUINOX POWER STEERING CONTROL MODULE FAILURE. SERVICE STABILITRAK LIGHT AND MESSAGE APPEARED, POWER STEERING WAS WORKING WHEN I PARKED THE CAR. A FEW HOURS LATER, I CRANKED THE CAR AND THE POWER STEERING WAS COMPLETELY NON-FUNCTIONAL. EXTREMELY HARD TO TURN WHEEL, COULD CAUSE CRASH WHEN VEHICLE CANNOT TURN CORRECTLY. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP, TECHNICIAN STATED THE POWER STEERING CONTROL MODULE (COMPUTER) WAS BAD AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *TR

THE BULBS FOR THE HAZARD LIGHTS WERE REPLACED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED ONE WEEK LATER. WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE, THE ENGINE OVERHEATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
I'M NOT SURE IF I HAD WRITTEN YOU ALREADY , ITS COMPLICATED, BUT HERE GOES. I BOUGHT A 2007 CHEVY EQUINOX IN AUGUST 9, 2014 . AUGUST 29, 2007 IS WHEN THE FIRST OF MANY PROBLEMS STARTED. THE STABILITY A LIGHT CAME ON,AT THE EXACT TIME THE LIGHTS CAME ON THE CAR WOULD SLOW WAY, WAY DOWN IT DIDN'T EVEN REGISTER ON HOW MANY MILES I WAS GOING THAT'S HOW SLOW THE CAR MOVED, THEN IT CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP. I WAITED A FEW SECONDS AND TRIED TO START THE CAR AND IT DID START. THIS KEPT HAPPENING ABOUT 4 OR 5 TIMES, THEN ON DECEMBER 12, 20014 IT DID IT AGAIN, BUT THIS TIME IT WOULD NOT START UP AGAIN. I HAD TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED, I HAD ALL OF MY 10 YEAR OLD CHRISTMAS GIFTS STILL IN THE CAR. THE GARAGE HAD MY CAR FROM DEC. 12 THRU TO MARCH 20, 2015, THEN IT WAS TOWED TO ANOTHER GARAGE, THE FIRST GARAGE COULD NOT LOCATE THE PROBLEM. OK, THE SECOND GARAGE HAD IT, THEY CHARGED ME $160.00 I GOT THE CAR BACK ON APRIL 10, 2015 I DROVE IT FOR FOUR DAYS AND IT DID IT AGAIN, NOW THIS CAR HAS DIED IN THE MIDDLE OF INTERSECTIONS BEFORE AND IT DID IT AGAIN ON APRIL 13 2015. I WAS STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF A VERY BUSY INTERSECTION, THERE WAS THIS HUGE DUMP TRUCK HEADED RIGHT FOR ME, I WAS SCARED TO DEATH, I ALMOST ALWAYS HAVE MY GRANDCHILDREN WITH ME THANK GOD THEY WEREN'T THIS TIME. WHEN MY CAR WAS MOVING VERY SLOWLY THE STABILITRAC LIGHT DID NOT COME ON, AFTER A COUPLE OF MINUTES AFTER THE FACT THEY DID COME ON. TWO MEN PUSHED ME OUT FROM THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION. THERE WAS SMOKE COMING FROM THE HOOD OF THE CAR. THE FIRST THING I THOUGHT OF IT MIGHT HAVE BEEN THE RADIATOR, BUT COME TO FIND OUT IT WAS NOT THE RADIATOR. I HAD THE CAR TOWED AGAIN TO A DIFFERENT GARAGE, THEY LOOKED IT OVER VERY WELL AND CALLED ME TO TELL ME THERE'S A WIRE THAT CAUGHT ON FIRE AND IT BURNED. *TR
WHEN CAR IS PARKED GEAR SHIFT IS IN "PARK" THE IGNITION KEY WILL TURN OFF ENGINE BUT CANNOT REMOVE THE KEY. MUST RESTART ENGINE, PUT INTO GEAR AND BACK INTO "PARK" AND TURN THE STEERING WHEEL FOR A SECOND TRY TO REMOVE THE KEY. SOMETIMES IT TAKES 4 ATTEMPTS TO GET THE KEY TO COME OUT! HAS BEEN ON-GOING FOR SEVERAL WEEKS. *TR
DURING A LONG TRIP, THE PASSENGER AIRBAG SENSOR LIGHT CHANGED FROM "ON" TO "OFF" INTERMITTENTLY EVEN THOUGH THERE WAS A PASSENGER PRESENT ALL OF TIME. WHEN THE SENSOR LIGHT TURNED TO OFF, THE INSTRUMENT PANEL SERVICE AIRBAG LIGHT ALSO CAME ON EACH TIME. THIS HAPPENED ABOUT 8 TIMES DURING THE TRIP. IT HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES SINCE THEN AS WELL.
I GAVE SOMEONE A BOOST AND MY POWER STEERING WENT OUT RIGHT AFTER THEY BOOSTED THEIR CAR. *TR
DRIVING ON A BUSY HIGHWAY AND CAR LOST POWER ALTHOUGH DID NOT SHUT OFF (THIS TIME). THE STABILITRAC LIGHT AND THE REDUCED ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THE VEHICLE IS AGAIN AT THE CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP (5TH TIME SINCE APRIL 2014) FOR THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM AND IT LOOKS LIKE THE THROTTLE BOTTLE IS (AGAIN) BEING REPLACED. THE SERVICE MANAGER AND TECHNICIANS INDICATED THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT THE "REAL PROBLEM" IS, AND GOOD CHANCE THE VEHICLE WILL DEVELOP THE SAME ISSUE AGAIN. THIS IS A VERY UNSAFE VEHICLE CONDITION, AND I WOULD LIKE TO SELL THE CAR BUT AFRAID TO PUT SOMEONE ELSE IN DANGER. *TR
MY KEY KEEPS GETTING STUCK IN THE IGNITION. I LITERALLY HAVE TO TURN MY CAR ON AND OFF, MOVE THE SHIFTER IN AND OUT OF PARK, SHAKE THE SHIFTER, TAKE MY FOOT OFF OF THE BRAKES, AT LEAST 10-15 TIMES BEFORE THE IGNITION WILL RELEASE THE KEY. I TRIED TO MAKE AN APPT WITH A CHEVY DEALERSHIP WHEN THIS PROBLEM WENT PUBLIC AND THEY CANCELLED ME BECAUSE MY VEHICLE WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL. I TALKED TO A REPRESENTATIVE SHAKEVIA WITH CHEVROLET CHAT AND SHE SAID THAT I WOULD HAVE TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL OF THE DIAGNOSIS AND REPAIR FEES SINCE MY VEHICLE IS NOT INCLUDED WITH THE RECALL. I LOOKED AT THE RECALL LIST AND ALL THE VEHICLES THAT ARE ON THERE, THE YEAR OF MY VEHICLE FITS IN EVERY SINGLE COLUMN. *TR
THE IGNITION SWITCH KEY IS VERY DIFFICULT TO REMOVE AND SOMETIMES IT TAKES UP TO 10 MIN. TO REMOVE THE KEY AFTER TURNING THE IGNITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY BACK AND FORTH. A DEATH OR SERIOUS INJURY COULD OCCUR DUE TO THE EXTREME DIFFICULTY IN REMOVING THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION SWITCH. *TR
I WAS DRIVING HOME AND ENGINE OVERHEATED, ALMOST DIDN'T GET OFF ROAD. TOOK TO A GARAGE AND $433. LATER WITH TOW BILL, THEY REPLACED THERMOSTAT AND FLUSHED IT. ONE WEEK LATER DID THE SAME THING PLUS KEPT POPPING UP OIL CHANGE NEEDED AND HAD ALREADY DID THAT FEW MONTHS BEFORE. FILLED WITH GAS AND IT POPPED UP LOW FUEL. HAD IT LOOKED AT AGAIN AND THEY SAID HEAD GASKET, WHICH QUOTED $2500. BUT SEVERAL HAVE TOLD ME THEY HAD WORKED ON SEVERAL WITH SAME PROBLEM, SAID EQUINOX ARE KNOWN FOR THIS! WHY IS THERE NOT A RECALL ON THIS PROBLEM? I AM ON SS AND THIS IS HARD FOR ME TO HANDLE MONEY WISE. I'M JUST UPSET THAT THIS IS HAPPENING TO SEVERAL OTHERS AND THEY JUST ACCEPTED IT AND DIDN'T COMPLAIN!!!!
I PURCHASED A USED EQUINOX AND IT NOW HAS THE SERVICE AIR BAG INDICATION ON THE DASH & EVEN WHEN OCCUPIED BY A LARGE ADULT THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG WILL NOT TURN ON. IT STATES OFF CONTINUOUSLY. I DID CALL CHEVROLET AS SOME HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR THE IDENTICAL PROBLEM, HOWEVER, WAS TOLD THAT MY VIN NUMBER DID NOT MATCH THE RECALL ONLY 437 CARS MATCHED THAT RECALL AND THAT I WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIRS MYSELF. *TR
