TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. THE CONTACT STATED THE WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED ON, THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT DROVE THE VEHICLE TO THE STOKES TRAINOR CHEVROLET/BUICK DEALER IN NEW BERRY, SOUTH CAROLINA FOR A RECALL AND WAS ADVISED OF THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR, BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NEVER DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 223,395.
I RECEIVED SPECIAL COVERAGE LETTER 12191 JULY 2013 THAT STATED REPAIRS NEEDED TO BE MADE TO MY VEHICLE IN A CHEVY LOCATION BY 7/31/14. THESE REPAIRS WOULD ONLY BE MADE IF THE VEHICLE PRESENTED A PROBLEM BY THEN (PLASTIC SUPPLY OR RETURN ON FUEL PUMP MAY CRACK/LEAK FUEL/VAPORS; IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE MAY CAUSE VEHICLE FIRE). ON 9/18/17 I BROUGHT MY VEHICLE TO MY TRUSTED MECHANIC (I DIDN'T REMEMBER CHEVY'S EXPIRED LETTER FROM 2013) SCARED OF SMELLING FUEL. HE REPAIRED MY CAR THE NEXT DAY & INFORMED ME OF A SPECIAL COVERAGE NOTE ON 2007 MODELS OF MY VEHICLE. I CONTACTED CHEVY VIA LETTER ASKING IF THEY WOULD REIMBURSE ME FOR THE WORK DONE. THEIR 1ST RESPONSE WAS THEY SIMPLY WOULDN'T BECAUSE I HAD IT DONE AT MY OWN PRIVATE MECHANIC. I SHOULD HAVE DRIVEN MY FUEL SMELLING VEHICLE TO CHEVY (WHOM I DO NOT HAVE A PROFESSIONAL RELATIONSHIP WITH) SO ONE OF THEIR MECHANICS CAN SEE IF THERE WAS IN FACT A PROBLEM FIRST. I THEN REPLIED, THAT AFTER LOOKING ONLINE I FOUND A NEW YORK TIMES ARTICLE (HTTPS.//NYTI.MS/2HWDWED), DATED 10/1/12, THAT STATED THAT CHEVY WAS GOING TO ORIGINALLY SEND OUT A LETTER STATING THAT I HAD 10 YEARS OR 120,000 MILES TO HAVE PART REPLACED, BUT MY LETTER STATES ONLY UNTIL 7/31/14. THEIR VERBAL RESPONSE WAS THAT THEY SENT ME AN ADDITIONAL LETTER & MAYBE IT WENT TO THE WRONG ADDRESS (I LIVE AT MY CURRENT LOCATION FOR 46 YEARS). EITHER WAY I SHOULD HAVE DONE THE INVESTIGATING ON MY OWN TO FIND OUT ABOUT SAID LETTER (FOUND ONLINE AFTER THE FACT 12191B; DOCUMENT ID 4233868, DATED 7/8/15) WHICH BELIEVE IT OR NOT STILL STATED THAT REIMBURSEMENT REQUESTS MUST BE SUBMITTED BY 7/31/14. THEY SIMPLY TOLD MY HUSBAND THAT THEY WOULD NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT OR REIMBURSE US BECAUSE WE WENT TO OUR OWN MECHANIC WHO HAS BEEN DOING OUR VEHICLE MAINTENANCE FOR OVER 20 YEARS.
I HAVE PUT 3 FUEL PUMPS PLUS IT WILL HAVE TO HAVE INSTALLED AGAIN AND WILL HAVE TO SHELL OUT 725.00 THIS TIME BECAUSE THE WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED AND IF GM DON`T REPLACE I MAY FILE THE LEMON LAW AND MY AIRBAG IN THE STEERING WHEEL SHOWS IT IS NOT WORKING SOMETIMES.
THE STABILITRAX LIGHT HAS COME ON AND MY VEHICLE WON'T START, HAVE TRIED TO JUMP IT BUT IT ONLY MAKES A CLICKING NOISE. I'VE TRIED TO RESET IT ACCORDING TO THE OWNERS MANUAL BUT NO LUCK. THE CAR IS SITTING IN MY DRIVEWAY I TRIED TO START IT THIS MORNING AND NOTHING.
HAVING TROUBLE WITH ELECTRICAL PROBLEM WITH THE TEMP GAUGE AND GAS METER NOT READING
FAULTY RETURN PORT IN FUEL PUMP MODULE LEAKING FUEL (SEVERE LEAK) STARTED NOTICING A SMELL WITH NO VISIBLE LEAK, NOW WHEN CAR IS PARKED LOOSING ALL FUEL PRESSURE (CAR WON'T START ON FIRST TRY) AND PARKED WITH 1/2 TANK NOW NO FUEL LEFT IN CAR. DISTINCT SMELL OF FUEL AND CAR IS PARKED. IS THIS PART OF RECALL?
PART ON LIFTGATE ABOVE WINDOW AND BELOW THE BREAK LIGHT POPPED OFF. ENTIRE GM PART NEEDS TO BE ORDERED OVER $1000 AND THEN HAS TO BE PAINTED AND PAY LABOR. WAS TOLD THEY'VE NEVER SEEN THIS HAPPENED BEFORE. NOW MY VEHICLE NEEDS TO BE PARKED IN DOORS UNTIL I GET AFFORD TO GET FIXED DUE TO WATER WILL LEAK IN. SIMPLY OPENED THE BACK AND IT FELL OFF.
ENGINE LOSING POWER AND CAR NOT TURNING ON
TAKATA RECALL LIGHT COMES ON AND DASH CRACKING
INTAKE VALVE AND VALVE COVER GASKETS BLOWN DUE TO CORROSION BY DEX-COOL OVER TIME. ALSO HAD BLOWN HEAD GASKET REPAIRED 10/16/2014 DUE TO SAME PROBLEM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE CONTACT OBSERVED A FUEL ODOR WITHIN THE VEHICLE AND THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. IN ADDITION, WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS FILLED WITH FUEL, THE FUEL GAUGE DISPLAYED OTHERWISE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED BY A DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ALMEDA AUTO (CAR INSPECTION STATION) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL PUMP MODULE/SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. AFTER THE CONTACT LEFT THE INSPECTION STATION, THE VEHICLE STALLED, WAS NOT ABLE TO RESTART, AND WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WERE MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 100,000.
SOMEONE SAT IN THE PASSENGER SEAT THAT WEIGHS ABOUT 100 LBS. SINCE THEN THE LIGHT HAS STAYED ON TO SERVICE AIRBAG. THE CAR WAS IN MOTION AT THE TIME.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH WITH HIS DAUGHTER, WIFE, AND NEPHEW, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL FAILED TO TURN WITHOUT WARNING. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO A ROAD SIGN. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT'S DAUGHTER SUSTAINED A CONTUSION ON THE CHEST WALL AND HIS WIFE SUSTAINED SHOULDER PAIN. THE DAUGHTER REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 160,000.
AT 64,000 MILES THE MASTER CYLINDER STARTING LEAKING INTO THE BRAKE BOOSTER. THIS IS A $900 REPAIR BEING PASSED ONTO THE CONSUMER AND IS NOT "NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR" THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF ONLINE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE 2008 CHEVY EQUINOX DOING THIS AT AROUND 65,000 MILES. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL
"TAKATA RECALL" THE TIMING BELT. TIMING BELT STRETCHED. KNOW FOR FACT THAT 5 OTHER CHEVROLET EQUINOX 2008 HAS HAD THE SAME PROBLEM BROUGHT TO THE SAME AUTOMACANIC SHOP. OURS WOULD BE THE 6TH KNOWN IN HASTINGS MINNESOTA. WOULD LIKE A RECALL AND HAVE PROBLEM FIXED AND PAID FOR BY THE MANUFACTURE. WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE. THE ENGINE LIGHT WOULD GO ON AND WHEN BROUGHT IN SEVERAL TIMES, THEY KEPT SAYING IT WAS THE GAS CAP. REPLACED GAS CAP AND STILL SEVERAL TIMES ENGINE LIGHT WOULD COME ON AND THE DEALERSHIP KEPT SAYING IT WAS THE GAS CAP, EVEN AFTER THEY REPLACED GAS CAP. THE SAME THING KEPT HAPPENING OVER AND OVER. THEY DENIED ANYTHING WRONG UNTIL THE TIMING BELT STRETCHED AND CANNOT DRIVE. FOR A PERIOD OF 2 YEARS THIS WENT ON AND ON. THEY WILL NOT REPAIR THE PROBLEM UNLESS WE PAY 2000 DOLLARS PLUS TO REPAIR TIMING BELT. THE DEALERSHIP IS THE ONES THAT WE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO. HAD A SECOND OPINION DONE AND THEY CLAIMED WE WHERE THE 7TH CAR WITH THE SAME IDENTICAL PROBLEM. WE BOUGHT THE VEHICAL FROM THE DEALERSHIP. ALWAYS BROUGHT TO THEM WITH ANY MECHANICAL PROBEMS TP BE REPAIRED.ALL I AM ASKING FOR IS THE DEALERSHIP TO REPAIR PROBLEM. APPARENTLY THEY HAVE OVERLOOKED THE PROBLEM SEVERAL TIMES AND BLAMED IT ON MY GAS CAP. I AM PARAPELEGIC ON RIGHT SIDE. ONLY DRIVE WHEN NECCESSARY. HAD 15,000 MILES ON IT WHEN I PURCHACED IT FROM DEALERSHIP. IT HAS 77,008 MILES ON IT WHEN WE BROUGHT IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP ON APRIL 17, 2017.VAM CODE IS P0017-CRANKSHAFT/CAMSHAFT CORRELATION BANK 1.....P0008-ENGINE SYSTEM PERFORMANCE, EXHAUST CAMSHAFT NOT MOVING WHEN COMMANDED...RECOMMENDED NEW TIMING CHAINS, CHAIN GUIDES,CHAIN TENTIONERS,CAM ACTUATORS... CONCERN#2 CUSTOMER STATES THE PASSENGER FRONT DOOR DOES NOT LOCK/UNLOCK. FOUND THE DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR FAULTY. REPLACED THE FRONT DOOR PASSENGER DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR/LATCH ASSEMBLY..PAID ...MAIN CONCERN IS TIMING BELT THAT IS FAULTY.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AT: CARTER CHEVROLET, SATABY, NC, WHERE THE FAILURE WAS NOT DUPLICATED. THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AT: MCCURRY-DEC CHEVROLET, FOREST CITY, NC, WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE PTS MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE PTS MODULE WAS REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURE WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT OFFER FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE AS INITIALLY AGREED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS ABOUT 80.000.
DASHBOARD CRACKING , THE DASHBOARD IS ALSO CRACKING INTO THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG AREA
AIR BAG INDICATOR ON/OFF ON DASH WORKS PART OF THE TIME WHEN RIGHT SEAT IS OCCUPIED SO I CAN ONLY ASSUME THAT THE RIGHT AIR BAG IS NOT ACTIVATED WHEN THE LIGHT IS SHOWING OFF. THIS IS THE SAME PROBLEM THE 2007 EQUINOX HAD A RECALL ON BUT ALL SAFETY COMPLAINTS ON THE 08 HAVE BEEN OVERLOOKED, COST OF REPAIRS ARE AROUND A $1,000.00. SINCE IT HAD BEEN AN ON GOING PROBLEM WHY HASN'T THERE BEEN A RECALL FOR THE 08 MODEL?
MY WIFE WAS AT WORK DURING A THUNDERSTORM. WENT TO THE CAR TO LEAVE AND NOTICED THAT THE FRONT FLOORBOARD WAS SOAKING WET. I LOOKED AT IT THE NEXT MORNING AND THE FRONT DRIVER MD PASSENGER SIDE WAS STILL SOAKING WET. I TOOK A BUCKET OF WATER AND POURED IT FROM THE ROOF DOWN THE WINDOW SEAL TOWER IF ANY WATER WAS GOING TO LEAK ON THE FLOOR ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. YES WATER WAS ENTERING THE THE CARE FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR. I CHECKED THE WEATHERING STRIP TO SEE IF WAS DAMAGED DRY ROTTED WHICH IT WAS NOT. I BEEN RESEARCHING ONLINE AND DISCOVERED THAT THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE. I'VE READ DIFFERENT FORUMS STATING THE SAME ISSUES. I ALSO DISCOVERED THIS FORUM THAT GIVE A BULLETIN NUMBER OF SOME SORT 08-08-57-001A DATED FOR 10-08-08 MODELS 05-09 EQUINOX TALKING ABOUT INSUFFICIENT BODY SEALER WATER ENTERING V THROUGH SEAMS IN THE FLOOR PAN ON THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE. CORRECTION REMOVE CARPET AND RESEAL THE SHEET METAL SEAM. IF THIS ISN'T THE ISSUE PLEASE FIND OUT WHAT IS BECAUSE THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH THESE VEHICLES.
IN THE INSTRUMENT PANEL THE SPEEDOMETER GOES UP TO 120 MPH AND GETS STUCK. I WILL BE DRIVING AT 45 MILES AN HOUR AND THE SPEEDOMETER WILL GO UP TO SAY THAT I AM DRIVING 120 MILES PER HOUR. IT WILL BE STUCK THERE FOR SEVERAL DAYS AND THEN WILL GRADUALLY GO BACK DOWN TO WHERE IT SHOULD BE. WHEN IT GOES UP TO 120 MPH YOU WILL HEAR CLICKING IN THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. IF YOU BRING THE VEHICLE TO A COMPLETE STOP THE SPEEDOMETER MIGHT SAY YOU ARE DRIVING 120 MPH OR IT MIGHT SAY 60 MPH. THE RPM METER WILL ALSO SOMETIMES SHOW IT GOING UP. WE HAVE CHANGED OUT THE FUSES AND STILL HAVE THIS PROBLEM. THERE IS ALSO SOME PROBLEM WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS SINCE MY TEENAGE DAUGHTER WAS USING THIS TO DRIVE BACK AND FORTH TO COLLEGE AND PANICKED WHEN THIS HAPPENED. I CONTACTED CHEVY AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THERE IS NO RECALLS AND IT WAS MY PROBLEM TO GET THE VEHICLE REPAIRED. AFTER SEARCHING ONLINE I HAVE FOUND NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS CONCERNING THIS SAME PROBLEM AND HAVE GOTTEN INFO THAT IT WAS DUE TO FAULTY MOTOR IN THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER PANEL. IT WILL NOT ALLOW ME TO ATTACHED THE PICTURE OF THE VIDEO OR PHOTO OF THE INSTRUMENT PANEL BELOW.
ENGINE LOSS POWER MY WIFE WAS DRIVING ON BARLETT RD IN ELGIN ILL,SUDDENLY SHE LOST ACCELERATION, THERE WAS SEMITRUCK BEHIND HER NERMISS A FATAL ACCIDENT. *TR
THE LIGHT INDICATING THE PASSENGER AIRBAG IS ARMED DOESN'T GO ON ANYMORE. I HAD THIS DIAGNOSED AND THE CODE B0081 SHOWS UP INDICATING A FAULTY PASSENGER PRESENCE MODULE. WITH THE MODULE NOT SENSING A PASSENGER, THE AIR BAG PROBABLY WILL NOT DEPLOY IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH. THE DEALER SAID IT'S NOT UNDER RECALL, ALTHOUGH THE 2007 EQUINOX WAS RECALLED FOR THIS DEFECT.
OUR 2008 EQUINOX PAINT HAS STARTED TO PEEL ON THE TOP. WE NOTICE A SPOT A WEEK AGO AND NOW IT IS ABOUT 12 INCHES LONG IT IS BUBBLING AND PEELING TO WHERE THE WHITE IS SHOWING. PLEASE TELL ME THERE IS A RECALL ON THIS MATTER WE HAVE ONLY 72000 MILES ON THIS VEHICLE. IT HAS TO BE A FACTORY DEFECT
WHEN I PUSH ON THE GAS (CAR IN PARK ON FLAT SURFACE) I HEAR WHAT SOUNDS LIKE A RUSHING OF WATER. ALSO WHEN CAR SITS IN THE SUN, DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW INOPERABLE AND BACK DOOR DRIVERS SIDE DOOR LOCK INOPERABLE. ELECTRICAL HAS BEEN AN ON GOING ISSUE FOR ABOUT A YEAR.
JUST BEFORE THANKSGIVING 2016 MY WIFE'S CAR STARTED ALTERNATING BACK AND FORTH LUKE WARM AIR TO COLD AIR. I HAVE REPLACED THE HEATER CORE, THE BLEND MOTOR DOOR, BLED THE LINES FOR AIR BUBBLES, AND TODAY THE BLOWER MOTOR RESISTOR. NOTHING HAS CHANGED THE HEATER PROBLEMS. IT DOESN'T MATTER IF THE CAR IS SITTING OR MOVING, IT DOESN'T WORK RIGHT. IF IT'S COLD I CAN'T KEEP MY WINDOWS CLEAR FROM FOGGING UP OR FROST ON MY WINDOWS. *TR

FUEL PUMP LEAKING FROM MAIN FUEL LINE GOING INTO PUMP. THE 2007 MODEL WAS RECALLED FOR SAME ISSUE. THIS IS A MAJOR LEAK, PUDDLES ONTO THE GROUND. VERY DANGEROUS, I CAN NOT UNDERSTAND WHY MY YEAR WAS NOT RECALLED, AS I HAVE FOUND NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ON THIS VEHICLE FUEL PUMP/SYSTEM!
TAKATA RECALL. 2008 CHEVROLET EQUINOX, 56,000 MILES. MY SERVICE SAFETY BELT LIGHT CAME ON AS WELL AS ABS AND CHECK ENGINE AND ! ? IS THIS UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY?
"TAKATA RECALL" MY CAR HAS A VERY STRONG ORDOR OF GAS WHILE ITS PARKED AND WHILE I'M DRIVING. THE OR OR IS VERY STRONG IN THE BACK OF THE CAR.

ON ANOTHER OCCASION, THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR FAILED TO OPEN FROM INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURES OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 76,000.
ENGINE LIGHT ON CODE SAYS TIMING CHAIN ON 2008 CHEVY EQUINOX 98,000 MILES.
FUEL ODOR AND SPOTTING ON GROUND WHILE PARKED IN GARAGE. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MECHANIC WHO FOUND A CRACKED PLASTIC FUEL LINE ON THE TOP OF THE FUEL PUMP. NO AREA DAMAGE OR CAUSE FOUND FOR THIS CRACK TO OCCUR. UNKNOWN REASON OTHER THAN DEFECT. FUEL PUMP HAD TO BE REPLACED.
MY 74 YEAR OLD BROTHER BOUGHT HIS 2008 EQUINOX NEW IT HAS LESS THAN 120,000 MILES ON IT AND IT IS THE BIGGEST HEAP OF CRAP CHEVROLET INVENTED!!!! 5. POWER STEERING WENT OUT COSTING $2500.00 TO FIX JAN 2015 6. TRANSMISSION STARTS JERKING WHEN HITTING 45 MPH DEALERSHIP INFORMED US OF THE TRANSMISSION WHEN WE TOOK IN FOR A RECALL ON A DEFECTIVE GAS MODUAL THAT THEY NEVER REPLACED SAYING THE PART WAS OK. THEY DROVE IT AND SAID THAT ITS THE TRANSMISSION AND ASKED $500.00 TO RUN A DIAGNOSTIC. STARTED FEB 2016 7. THE STABLE LINK LIGHT PERIODICALLY COMES ON SAYING TO SERVICE THE STABLE TRAC THEN GOES OFF STARTED MARCH OF 2016 8. THE TOP OF THE BRAKE LIGHT ON THE BACK HATCH IS GONE WHERE IT FELL OFF AT SOME POINT HAS MANY OTHER THINGS WRONG. TURN SIGNAL GEARS TO TURN OFF SIGNALS FOR RIGHT AND LEFT SIGNAL DO NOT WORK. THE WASHER FLUID MOTOR DOES NOT WORK. DRIVERS DOOR POWER WINDOW MOTOR BROKE FROM WINDOW.DRIVERS DOOR HAS TO BE MANUALLY LOCKED AND UNLOCKED. THIS VEHICLE IS A CLEAN AND IN EXCELLENT SHAPE IT WAS BOUGHT NEW AND IS OWNED BY AN ELDERLY MAN. IT HAS NOT BEEN ABUSED HAS LESS THAT 120,000 MILES ON IT
AIRBAG LIGHT HAS BEEN ON SINCE 102,000 MILES. WON'T GO OFF TOOK IT IN FOR DIAGNOSIS AND WAS TOLD NEED A NEW PPS MODULE. IT WASN'T COVERED UNDER MY EXTENDED WARRANTY. SO DIDN'T GET IT FIX WOULD HAVE COST $900. SEEN ALL KINDS OF PROBLEMS WITH THIS MAKE AND MODEL WITH SAME PROBLEM. AND THAT 2007 WERE RECALLED BUT NOT 2008. AND CONSIDERING THE RECALL WAS MADE IN 2008 DON'T YOU THINK THEY SHOULD HAVE INCLUDED 2008 MODELS AS WELL?? HOPING THEY WILL STILL ISSUE A RECALL SOON SO WE CAN GET IT FIXED!!! TO ME THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD BE A PROIRITY AND FIXED!!!
THERE IS A STRANGE SOUND OF WATER SLOSHING UNDER THE DASHBOARD. THERE IS MOISTURE BUILD UP IN MY HEADLIGHTS WHICH HAVE BEEN REPLACED. MY BRAKE LIGHT GO OUT SEVERAL TIMES A YEAR. THE MOST RECENT OCCURRENCE WAS JUST AFTER MY ANNUAL INSPECTION - THE DRIVER SIDE BRAKE LIGHT WAS REPLACED, NOT TWO WEEKS LATER SOMEONE PULLED UP NEXT TO ME WHILE STOPPED AT A LIGHT TO TELL ME ALL MY LIGHTS WERE OUT. THE BEGINNING OF SEPTEMBER 2016 I HAD AN OIL CHANGE AND DURING THE INSPECTION THE TECH TOLD ME MY DRIVER SIDE BRAKE LIGHT WAS OUT AND THAT THE LIGHT AT THE TOP DID NOT GO ON RIGHT AWAY AND FLICKERED WHEN IT DID. I HAVE REACHED OUT TO GM ABOUT A SOLUTION TO THE LIGHT ISSUE - I HAVE TO TAKE MY TRUCK IN TO BE SERVICED AT A GM DEALERSHIP, IT IS GOING TOMORROW SEPT 29TH TO BRYNER CHEVROLET IN JENKINTOWN, PA.
LEAKING GAS FROM THE TANK UNDER REAR DOOR PASSENGER SIDE.
MY VEHICLE HAS 84,000 MILES ON IT. ABOUT 3 WEEKS AGO THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON FOR CODE P0008. AFTER FURTHER REVIEW THE DEALER DISCOVERED I HAD A STRETCHED TIMING CHAIN THAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT THE TUNE OF $3,000. I HAVE CHANGED MY OIL AS STATED IN THE MANUAL AND CHECK THE OIL LEVELS PERIODICALLY. THE SERVICE SCHEDULE IN THE MANUAL INDICATES THAT THE BELTS NEED TO BE CHECKED FOR WEAR AT 150,000. THE TIMING CHAIN SHOULD SURELY LAST LONGER THAN THE BELTS. CHEVY ISSUED A CUSTOMER SERVICE BULLETIN WITH REGARD TO PREMATURE TIMING CHAIN WEAR ON ALL 2008 EQUINOX'S EXCEPT THE SPORT (WHICH IS WHAT I HAVE). AFTER DOING SOME ONLINE DIGGING I HAVE DISCOVERED MANY OTHER PEOPLE WITH THE 2008 SPORT THAT ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. I CONTACTED GM AND THEY STATED SINCE MY VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO.
THE PAINT ON MY VEHICLE BUBBLED UP AND PEEL OFF. THE PAINT CONTINUE TO CHIP AWAY AND RUST.
FAULTY HEAD GASKETS
2008 EQUINOX - MY KEY IS STUCK IN THE IGNITION AND I CAN'T TURN THE VEHICLE OFF. THE VEHICLE ISN'T REGISTERING THAT IT'S IN PARK. IT'S SOME ISSUE WITH THE SHIFTER. THE KEY WAS STICKING FOR ABOUT A MONTH BUT WOULD ALWAYS TURN OFF UNTIL NOW. NUMEROUS EQUINOX OWNERS HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE BUT CHEVY HASN'T FIXED THE PROBLEM OR ISSUED A RECALL.
I PURCHASED MY EQUINOX BRAND NEW IN JULY OF 2008 AND IT CURRENTLY HAS 109,000 MILES ON IT. I JUST STARTED HAVING TRANSMISSION ISSUES SO I TOOK IT TO A TRANSMISSION SHOP. THE VEHICLE IS HAVING A HARD TIME SHIFTING INTO 3RD SHIFT. THE TRANSMISSION SHOP STATED THAT I NEEDED A NEW WAVE PLATE. CHEVROLET HAS AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON MY VEHICLE FOR THIS EXACT ISSUE AND I FALL WITHIN THE DATE AND MILEAGE LIMITS, BUT GM IS CLAIMING THAT MY VEHICLE DOES NOT QUALIFY. THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO REASON THAT MY VEHICLE SHOULD BE EXCLUDED FROM THIS WARRANTY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE, THE AIR BAG SENSOR LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE AIR BAG SYSTEM MODULE WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000.

THE STABILLITRAK LIGHT AND WARNING SYSTEM SUDDENLY CAME ON MY CAR AS I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE. I LOST POWER STEERING IMMEDIATELY. THE EQUINOX HAS 67, 363 MILES ON IT. I HAD THE ENTIRE CAR SERVICED AND THE SYSTEMS PUT ON A MONITOR IN DECEMBER WITH NO PROBLEMS APPEARING. LUCKILY , I SLOWED DOWN AND TOOK IT TO A LOCAL MECHANIC THAT TOLD ME THE PROBLEM.
PASSENGER AIR BAG CONSTANTLY COMING ON SAYING IT IS NOT WORKING. ALL OTHERS RECALLED BY 2008. NOW SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL AND SERVICE STABILITRAK SENSOR ON. I'VE READ ABOUT BOTH OF THESE ISSUES ONLINE HERE SO WHY NO RECALLS WHEN IT'S SOMETHING THAT'S REACURRING FOR OTHERS.
ABOUT 2 MONTHS AGO MY KEY STARTED STICKING IN THE CYLINDER AND I WAS UNABLE TO TAKE THE KEY OUT. IT WOULD TAKE 2-5 MINUTES BEFORE IT WILL RELEASE THE KEY. IT HAS GOTTEN MORE FREQUENT SO I HAD SOMEONE CHECK IT OUT. HE FOUND A RECALL REFERENCE #09-02-35-005C WHICH STATES THAT CHEVROLET EQUINOX FROM 2007-2009 BUILT PRIOR TO 7/2008 WILL NEED TO HAVE A NEW CYLINDER IGNITION LOCK PART #20869121 INSTALLED FOR IGNITION KEY DIFFICULT TO REMOVE, BINDS OR STICKS. MY CAR WAS BUILT IN 2007 YET THE CHEVY DEALERSHIP SAYS THERE IS NO RECALL FOR MY VIN# WHICH ACCORDING TO YOUR RECALL NOTICE IS NOT TRUE. PLEASE CONTACT ME ASAP ABOUT THIS MATTER.
