TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE WAITING AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS THE VEHICLE WOULD VIBRATE VIOLENTLY, WHILE THE LIGHTS AND INSTRUMENT PANEL WOULD FLICKER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 12,464.
2010 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO POWER STEERING PROBLEMS. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT FAILED AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. *JB THE CONSUMER STATED THERE WAS A LEAK COMING FROM THE POWER STEERING RACK. THE DEALER FOUND THE STEERING GEAR LEAKING AND REPLACED THE RACK ON A 2011 GMC ACADIA AT NO CHARGE. UPDATED 03/04/15. *JB

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE TIMING CHAIN FRACTURED WHICH CAUSED INTERNAL DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS IN THE PROCESS OF BEING REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 77,367.
THE BACK HATCH LOCK WILL NOT RELEASE ON MY 2010 EQUINOX TO OPEN THE HATCH. IT STARTED WITH A DIFFICULT TRY TO OPEN IT. NOW IT WILL NOT OPEN AT ALL. I AM BRINGING IT TO THE DEALER TOMORROW (IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY OVER 36,0000 MILES) THIS HATCH IS NOT OPEN EVERY DAY. IN REALITY IT IS OPEN ONLY ABOUT ONCE A WEEK, SO IT SHOULDN'T HAVE BROKEN. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO CHECKED THE FUSE AND DIAGNOSED THAT THE RADIO NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE IF THERE WAS ANY POTENTIAL ELECTRICAL ISSUES WITHIN THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 09V489000 (VISIBILITY). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58,000.
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE THE WIPERS STOPPED FUNCTIONING MAKING IT DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. THE CENTER CONSOLE DISPLAY, RADIO AND HEATER CONTROLS, WENT OFF AND STOPPED FUNCTIONING. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES AND IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION. I HAVE HAD IT LOOKED AT BY THE DEALER AND THEY TELL ME NOTHING IS WRONG. THEY ALSO TELL ME THERE IS NO RECALL ON ANY EQUINOX FOR THESE ISSUES EVEN AFTER I RECOMMENDED THEM TO LOOK AT YOUR SITE. THEY TOLD ME TO "STOP LOOKING AT THE INTERNET FOR INFORMATION BECAUSE IT IS NO GOOD AND THAT PEOPLE DO NOTHING BUT COMPLAIN ON THE INTERNET." I CALLED THE GM CUSTOMER SERVICE CENTER TO EXPLAIN THAT TO THEM AND THEY RECOMMENDED ME TO FILE A COMPLAINT WITH NHTSA TO MAKE IT KNOWN THAT MY CAR IS HAVING THE SAME ISSUE AS THE RECALLED CARS TO POSSIBLY GET IT ADDED TO THE RECALL. I AM NOT ONLY DOING THIS BECAUSE THEY RECOMMENDED ME TO, BUT BECAUSE MY FAMILY IS AT A SAFETY RISK DRIVING THIS VEHICLE AND GM DOESN'T SEEM TO CARE. THEY NEED TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THIS ISSUE SINCE THERE ARE MANY PEOPLE OUT THERE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE THAT ARE IN THE SAME BOAT AS I AM WITHOUT BEING COVERED BY THE RECALL. *TR

THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE DEFOGGER MALFUNCTIONED, CAUSING THE WINDSHIELD TO FREEZE AND BLOCK HIS VISIBILITY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 69,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 70, 000.

THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE PCV POSITIVE CRANKCASE VENTILATION HAD SEIZED, WHICH OVER PRESSURIZED THE ENGINE AND CAUSED THE REAR MAIN SEAL TO MALFUNCTION. THE REAR MAIN SEAL WAS REPLACED. JUST BOUGHT AND BEING TOLD IT IS NOT COVERED BY ANY WARRANTY HAVING ISSUES WITH THE DEFOGGERS AND ALL THE WINDOWS ARE FOGGING A LOT . TRIED TO CRACK THE WINDOWS TO VENT THE OUT THE CAR NO HELP. NO OIL ON THE DIPSTICK AFTER 3 MONTHS AND 3000 MILES SINCE THEY REPLACED MY DRIVE CHAIN AND ADDED OIL I EXPERIENCED NO HEAT AND TRANSMISSION IRREGULARITY. ADDED 4 QTS OF OIL AND CALLED CHEVY DEALER. TOOK IT IN AND THEY ARE REPLACING THE RINGS AND VALVES WHICH WERE LEAKING OIL INTO THE CRANKCASE AND I WAS BURNING THE OIL. IT WILL TAKE A WEEK TO FIX. THEY GAVE ME A FREE RENTAL CAR. I AM CONCERNED THAT THIS MAY HAVE CAUSED SOME DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE. *TR
SERVICE STABILITRAK LIGHT COME ON. SERVICE ENGINE LIGHTS COME ON. ENGINE POWER IS REDUCED. THE VEHICLE ENGINE DIED RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET. I WAS ABLE TO RESTART IT AND TOOK IT IN FOR SERVICE. THEY COULDN'T FIND ANY "ACTUAL" PROBLEM. SO THEY RESET ALL THE CODES. IT HAS HAPPENED AGAIN. IT IS HAPPENING WHEN THE TEMPERATURES GET BELOW FREEZING. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER FOR INSPECTION WHERE THE FUEL PUMP AND CAM SHAFT WERE REPLACED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE LATER RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT FURTHER REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 44,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING WHERE THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. WHILE TURNING LEFT ON A MAJOR INTERSECTION THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND STABILITAC LIGHT WITH A WARNING OF REDUCED ENGINE POWER CAME ON. THE CAR COULD ONLY GO 5 MPH WHICH WAS CAUSED ME TO SLOWLY GO THROUGH THE INTERSECTION. TWO ON COMING CARS HAD TO SLAM ON THEIR BREAKS TO AVOID ME. THE DEALER FOUND A DEFECTIVE THROTTLE BODY. THEY SAID THE CAR IS PROGRAM TO GO INTO REDUCED ENGINE POWER MODE WHEN THE COMPUTER DETECTS THIS ISSUE. THE SAFETY ISSUE IS THIS COME ON WITH OUT WARNING, IN THE MIDDLE OF INTERSECTIONS. SEARCH THE WEB AND YOU WILL FIND THAT MANY WITH THIS TYPE OF CAR FROM GM ARE HAVING THIS ISSUE. I THINK THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL FOR THE DEFECTIVE THROTTLE BODY FOR THOSE NOT REPLACED YET AND A REIMBURSEMENT FOR THOSE ALREADY PAID. I HAD TO PAY $400.64 FOR THIS SAFETY REPAIR SO I COULD A AVOID FUTURE ACCIDENTS WHEN TURNING AT INTERSECTIONS. THE REPAIR DETAILS ARE ON FILE AT THE DEALER. *TR

TOOK A ROAD TRIP AND THE ENGINE WAS MAKING NOISE HALF WAY THROUGH. CHECKED OIL DIPSTICK WHEN WE ARRIVED HOME AND NO OIL REGISTERED ON DIPSTICK! THE 2010 CHEVY EQUINOX IS A LEMON!! STAY AWAY *TR
WHILE BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY, I TURNED THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE LEFT AND THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME STUCK. I HAD TO TUG FORCEFULLY ON THE WHEEL FOR THE STEERING WHEEL TO COME BACK TO CENTER. THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN 3 DAYS LATER AS I WAS MAKING A RIGHT TURN ONTO A BUSY ROAD. I TURNED THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE RIGHT AND THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME STUCK CAUSING ME TO NEARLY RUN OFF THE ROAD. I HAD TO PULL WITH FORCE TO GET THE STEERING WHEEL BACK TO CENTER CAUSING ME TO BRIEFLY SWERVE INTO THE LEFT LANE. LUCKILY I DID NOT RUN OFF THE ROAD OR INTO ANYONE. *TR
AT 58569 MILES THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON. THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER, GASKET, AND NUT WERE REPLACED. I BEGAN COMPLAINING ABOUT OIL CONSUMPTION AT 72388 MILES. AT 77313, THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS FLASHING. THE DEALER GOT THE CODE P0300. THERE WAS A MISFIRE IN CYLINDER #2. THE DEALER REPLACED THE #2 COIL AND GASKET AS WELL AS THE SPARK PLUGS. AT 91968 MILES THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON AND THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER WAS REPLACED. AT 103123 MILES THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON AND THROTTLE BODY GASKET REPLACED. AT 105185 MILES THE ENGINE LIGHT ON AGAIN. REPLACEDSPARK PLUGS, REPROGRAMED ECM AND TCM. THERE WAS A MISFIRE IN CYLINDERS 1-3-AND 5. THE DEALER ALSO PERFORMED MAJOR THROTTLE BODY SERVICE AND CLEANED THE INTAKE. AT 112358 MILES THE CAR WAS TOWED TO DEALER. THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS FLASHING AND DEALER SAID A MISFIRE IN CYLINDER #4 AND OIL WAD FOUND IN #2 SPARK PLUG WELL. I CHECK MY OIL LEVEL EVERY WEEK AND HAVE BEEN DOING SO FOR MONTHS. I AM PUTTING IN AT LEAST 1 1/2 QUARTS OF OIL EVERY MONTH. I CHANGE THE OIL EVERY 3500 MILES WHETHER THE VEHICLE INDICATES THE NEED OR NOT. I HAVE READ MANY COMPLAINTS ON DIFFERENT WEBSITES. THE DEALERS RESPONSE IS THAT THEY CAN GET ME INTO A NEW EQUINOX. IT SEEMS THAT THIS OIL CONSUMPTION PROBLEM IS KNOWN BY CHEVY BUT THIS SUV HAS NEVER BEEN RECALLED FOR THIS PROBLEM.
CAR MADE NOISE AND ENGINE STARTED TO STOP. PULLED OFF TO SIDE OF FREEWAY, TURNED OFF KEY AND CAR BURST INTO FLAMES. CAR IS A TOTAL LOSS, DUE TO THE FIRE DAMAGE. *TR
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND FOUND OUT THAT THE CODE P 0010 WAS FOUND DURING A SCAN BY THE DEALER. CONTACTED GM FOR THE 100,000 POWER TRAIN WARRANTY THEY OFFER ON THIS VEHICLE ONLY TO FIND OUT THAT THE CAM SHAFT POSITION SOLENOID IS NOT COVERED AND WILL COST MY 108.75 FOR THE DIAGNOSIS SCAN AND 157.00 FOR THE PART, WHY IS GM OFFERING THE POWERTRAIN 100,000 WARRANTY ON THERE ENGINES WHEN ONLY CERTAIN PARTS ARE COVERED. IS THERE ANY RECALLED ON THE ENGINES FOR THE CHEVY EQUINOX ENGINE MADE IN 2010. *TR
POWER STEERING LOCKED UP/STOPPED WORKING WHEN TRYING TO BACK UP. WOULDN'T WORK WHEN PUT BACK IN FORWARD GEAR. HAPPENED INTERMITTENTLY AND WHEN TAKEN TO DEALER, THEY COULDN'T REPLICATE. NEXT COUPLE OF MONTHS DID THIS INTERMITTENTLY. RECENTLY, IT DID THIS REGULARLY FOR A DAY WHEN DRIVING...VERY DANGEROUS AS IT WOULD HAPPEN OFTEN WHEN EXECUTING A TURN SO CAR COULD LURCH INTO AN ADJACENT LANE AND POTENTIALLY END UP IN AN ACCIDENT. WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AND THIS TIME TOOK TO DEALER WHO TOLD ME THEY DIAGNOSED A PROBLEM THAT WOULD REQUIRE REPLACEMENT OF AT LEAST PART OF THE POWER STEERING ASSEMBLY. THIS SEEMS TO BE THE EXACT SAME ISSUE AS WHAT OCCURRED WITH COBALTS, HHR, ETC. IN THE LATEST GM RECALL AND I BELIEVE THAT THE RECALL SHOULD BE EXTENDED TO THIS MODEL YEAR AND MAKE AS WELL (IF NOT FOR OTHERS TOO!). CAUSED ME ENOUGH CONCERN TO GET THE WORK DONE AND AM NOW WORKING ON MY OPTIONS TO TRY AND GET GM TO REIMBURSE ME BASED ON THIS BEING AN IDENTICAL ISSUE TO THESE OTHER MAKES AND MODELS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET EQUINOX EQUIPPED WITH MICHELIN TIRE LATITUDE TOUR TIRES, SIZE P235-55-R18, AND DOT M33J007X1210. THE CONTACT SATED THREE TIRES SPLIT DUE TO PREMATURE TREAD SEPARATION. THE TIRES FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 49,300. THE TIRES WERE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. MY ENGINE RATTLES AND MAKES A LOUD FLUTTERING SOUND ACCOMPANIED WITH THE MISFIRING AND HESITATION WITH ACCELERATION. I PREVIOUSLY WROTE A COMPLAINT AND FORGOT TO MENTION IT.
I HAD TO PURCHASE AN ENTIRELY NEW A.C SYSTEM AT 50K MILES. THEY PUT THE HOSE DIRECTLY ON THE ENGINE WHEN BUILDING THE CAR. THEREFORE, THE HEAT BURNED A HOLE INTO THE HOSE WHICH CAUSED THE SYSTEM TO OVERHEAT, RESULTING IN THE NEED FOR THE ENTIRE A.C. SYSTEM TO BE REPLACED. A MONTH LATER, THE CAR BEGAN STALLING AND MISFIRING WHILE AT STOP LIGHTS. THEN, IT PROGRESSED TO MISFIRING WHILE CAR ACCELERATES. I WAS ON THE INTERSTATE WHEN MY CAR COMPLETELY SHUT OFF! I WAS LUCKY TO PULL OFF TO THE SIDE ROAD AS I HAD MY 5 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER IN THE VEHICLE WITH ME. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURNS ON AND OFF RANDOMLY. APPARENTLY, AT 50K MILES, THE COMPUTER SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THIS IS APPARENTLY THE CAUSE FOR THE ISSUES (PER A MECHANIC). I'VE REPLACED THE BATTERY ON THIS CAR 3 TIMES. I'M STILL PAYING THE CAR OFF AND HAVE PUT SO MUCH MONEY INTO IT FROM IT FALLING APART AT 50K MILES!
I PUT KEY INTO IGNITION AND TURNED TOWARD THE START POSITION AND KEY WENT ABOUT HALFWAY AND STOPPED AND ALL LIGHTS AND DASHBOARD WENT BLACK,ALL ELECTRICAL POWER WENT OFF. THE CAR WOULD NOT GIVE ME THE KEY BACK. IT WAS STUCK IN THE IGNITION FOR ABOUT 1 1/2 HOURS UNTIL ERS ARRIVED. I TRIED PRESSING THE BRAKE AND TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL BUT IT WOULD STILL NOT GIVE ME THE KEY. MEANWHILE, THE DASH BOARD STARTING FLASHING ON AND OFF AND I HEARD A CONSTANT CLICKING NOISE. I CALLED EMERGENCY ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE AND THEY CAME AND GAVE ME A BOOST AND CAR STARTED RIGHT UP WITH NO PROBLEMS. MY BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR ARE COMPLETELY FINE. *TR

THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE BRAKES WERE DEPRESSED SEVERAL TIMES WHERE THEY EVENTUALLY RESPONDED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE ELECTRIC BRAKE BOOSTER VACUUM PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 66,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 71,000.
PUT KEY INTO KEY SWITCH AND TURN TOWARD START POSITION AND KEY WENT ABOUT HALFWAY AND STOPPED AND ALL LIGHTS AND DASHBOARD WENT BLACK,ALL ELECTRICAL POWER WENT OFF. FINIALLY AFTER MOVING STEERING WHEEL AND MOVING KEY BACK AND FORTH WAS ABLE TO PULL KEY OUT OF IGNITION SWITCH.THEN WHEN I PUT KEY BACK INTO IGNITION SWITCH AND TRIED TO START CAR ALL I HEARD WAS A CLICK,CLICK SO BATTERY WAS DEAD,CALLED ERS AND THEY CAME AND GAVE ME A BOOST AND CAR STARTED RIGHT UP WITH NO PROBLEMS AND SERVICE REP. CHECKED BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR AND THEY WERE OPERATING FINE.CALLED MY DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT CAR AND TOLD THEM WHAT HAPPENED BUT THEY NEVER HAD A PROBLEM LIKE THAT SO THEY WERE NO HELP.I CALLED G.M. AND TALKED TO THEM BUT THEY NEVER HEARD OF THAT PROBLEM EITHER SO HERE I AM WITH A CAR THAT HAS A PROBLEM WHICH NO ONE HAS HEARD OF.. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE OIL WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS LOW ON OIL. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER A SECOND TIME WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE PISTON NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THERE WAS A NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE AND THE ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TIMING CHAIN AND TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. PI0246A 2010-2011 EQUINOX, TERRAIN - FRONT SEAT POWER LUMBAR SUPPORT INOPERATIVE REPLACE ONLY THE SCREWS. A REVISED SCREW HAS BEEN RELEASED DON'T REPLACE THE LUMBAR ASSEMBLY". RAN DIE THROUGH ENGINE TO FIND OUT WHERE OIL LOSS IS , CHECKED TIMING CHAIN AGAIN, CHANGED OIL, CHECKED FUEL PUMP, READING FOR CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS O2 SENSOR BUT NOTHING WAS DONE ABOUT IT. IT'S BEEN THREE WEEKS AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON AGAIN. CAR COMPUTER FIRST SAYED STABILIZER BAR NEEDED CHECKING. THE DEALER STATED THAT WHEN THE ENGINES WERE CAST, THERE WAS SAND LEFT IN THE ENGINE AND SINCE THE ENGINE WAS NOT FLUSHED, IT CAUSED THE ENGINE TO LOCK UP OVER TIME. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED.
