AFTER ABOUT A YEAR OF OWNING THIS VEHICLE, WE HAVE EXPERIENCED SEVERAL ISSUES WITH ENGINE RELATED PROBLEMS STARTING IN 2011 TO CURRENT RECENT ISSUE ON 30/2014. WE HAVE BEEN TO THE DEALER FOR SEVERAL "REPAIRS" AND HAVE CONTINUED TO HAVE ADDITIONAL PROBLEMS. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS THE VEHICLE HAS STALLED WHILE DRIVING, ENGINE SHIFTS HARD/DELAYED WHILE DRIVING, EXCESSIVE OIL LOSS BETWEEN OIL CHANGES. OIL IS CHANGED AND ADDED BEFORE EVERY 3,000 MILES OR SOONER IN RECENT MONTHS DUE TO LOW OIL AND ENGINE MAKING "KNOCKING" SOUND. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER FOR RECENT NOISE AND ENGINE LIGHT. THEY ARE STATING IT NEEDS ENGINE WORK DONE FOR OIL BEING "BURNED" IN ENGINE THROUGH THE EXHAUST IN EXCESS OF $1600. LISTED SEVERAL ITEMS THAT NEED REPAIR IN CONJUNCTION WITH THIS ISSUE. *TR
MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I BROUGHT MY CAR TO AN AUTOPARTS STORE TO GET THE CODE. UPON RUNNING THE CODE IT WAS DISCOVERED THE OIL WAS LOW IN THE CAR. THE MECHANIC PUT IT IN 3 QUARTS OF OIL. I HAD MY OIL CHANGED IN OCTOBER AND HAD JUST PUT 3000 MILES ON THE CAR. THE NEXT DAY THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN AND THE CAR WAS 1 QUART OF OIL LOW. I CALLED THE CHEVY DEALER AND GAVE THEM THE CODE P00014. THEY SAID IT WAS MY CAMSHAFT AND TO BRING IT IN FOR WARRANTY WORK. UPON DROP OFF THEY SAID THEY COULD SMELL OIL BURNING AND HEARD A KNOCKING IN THE ENGINE. THEY SAID THE OIL IN MY CAR WAS VERY BLACK/DIRTY AND LOW WHEN THEY RECEIVED IT. THEY TOLD ME TO MAKE SURE I CHANGE MY OIL REGULARLY AND NOT FOLLOW THE "OIL LIFE" LIGHT IN THE CAR. THEY DID AN OIL CHANGE AND SAID THE CAR WAS RUNNING FINE. I WAS INFORMED TO KEEP AN EYE ON THE OIL SO THEY COULD DO A CONSUMPTION TEST. A WEEK LATER THE SAME CHECK ENGINE CODE CAME ON IN MY CAR. I BROUGHT IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY REPLACED CHAINS AND ACTUATORS IN THE ENGINE. I GOT MY CAR BACK, WATCHED THE OIL AND DROVE 1000 MILES. AT THAT POINT MY CAR WAS 1.3 QUARTS OF OIL LOW. THE DEALERSHIP DOCUMENTED IT AND SENT ME ON. I DROVE 700 MILES AND WAS 3/4 A QUART OF OIL LOW. IT ALSO HAD THAT KNOCKING NOISE IN THE ENGINE AGAIN. THE DEALERSHIP TOOK MY CAR BACK AND CALLED GM. THEY WERE TOLD TOOK LOOK FOR MARKINGS IN THE ENGINE. THEY ENDED UP REPLACING MY ENTIRE ENGINE AND THE FUEL PUMP SYSTEM DUE TO THE MARKINGS THEY FOUND. GM SAID THESE PROBLEMS WERE LINKED TO ISSUES IN ENGINES WITH THESE MARKS. MY SITUATION HAS BEEN FIXED FOR NOW BUT I WANTED TO MAKE MY PROBLEM KNOWN FOR OTHERS WHO HAVE NOT HAD IT FIXED. *TR
BEEN HAVING OFF AND ON PROBLEMS WITH DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG COMING ON AND OFF. IT WILL APPEAR FOR MAYBE A WEEK THEN GO OFF TOTALLY FOR MONTHS. I TOOK IT IN TO THE DEALER WHERE I BOUGHT AND THEY RAN A TEST AND SAID IT WOULD BE OVER 400.00 TO FIX. NOT SURE WHAT TO DO AS THIS IS JUST ONCE IN AWHILE SERVICE AIRBAG! HAS THERE BEEN ANY OTHER PROBLEMS WITH THIS MAKE AND MODEL.? NOT SURE WHAT TO DO. HATE SPENDING ALL THIS MONEY IF IT IS JUST A FLUKE. THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP ON THIS MATTER. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION WHERE THEY STATED THAT THE CAM SHAFT ACTUATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000.
THE EQUINOX WAS BEING TOWED (ALL WHEELS DOWN) BEHIND A MOTORHOME. CHEVROLET CERTIFIES IT AS TOWABLE IN THIS MANNER. THE TOWING BASEPLATE, PRODUCED BY DEMCO SPECIFICALLY FOR THIS VEHICLE) WAS ATTACHED TO THE CAR'S FRONT RAIL ENDS OF THE FRAME. WHILE UNDERWAY, THE FRONT RAIL ENDS TORE LOOSE FROM THE FRAME. THE BASEPLATE, THUS DETACHED, TORE THE FRONT GRILL AND BUMPER FROM THE VEHICLE. THE CAR GLIDED TO A STOP ON THE ROAD. HAD WE BEEN ON A BUSY HIGHWAY OR ON A HILL, OTHER VEHICLES MAY HAVE BEEN INVOLVED AND SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH MAY HAVE OCCURRED. WE FEEL THAT THE FRONT RAIL ENDS ARE NOT SUFFICIENTLY STURDY TO SUPPORT TOWING AND CHEVROLET SHOULD NOT CERTIFY THE EQUINOX AS TOWABLE.
HELLO ON A FEW DIFFERENT OCCASIONS MY CENTER CONSOLE AS STOPPED FUNCTIONING MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO TURN ON/OFF DEFROSTER, HEAT, ETC. I HAVE CALLED CHEVROLET ABOUT THIS PROBLEM BUT THEY TOLD ME IT IS NOT INCLUDED IN RECALL 09V489000. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE EXPLAIN WHY MY VEHICLE DOES NOT QUALIFY FOR THIS RECALL WHEN I AM EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEMS? THANK YOU *TR
IT STARTED WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WOULD COME ON AND THE STABILITRAK LIGHT COMING ON SOMETIMES. AND YOU HEAR A ROUGH IDLE.AND A HORRIBLE RATTLING NOISE WAS COMING FROM THE ENGINE WHILE PARKED AND. WHEN I DROVE THE CAR WHEN ACCELERATING IT SOUNDED WORSE AS IF I WAS DRIVING A DIESEL TRUCK. AND THE CAR WOULD STAY ON FOR ABOUT 2 TO 3 SECONDS AFTER I TURNED THE CAR OFF. SO I DROPPED THE CAR OFF AT THE DEALER THEY CHECKED IT WITH A SCANNER AND THEY GOT THE P0172 - TOO RICH ERROR CODE. AND THEY SAW FOR THEMSELVES THE CAR STAYED ON AFTER TURNING OFF THE CAR AND THE RATTLING NOISE IT WAS MAKING. AFTER 2 DAYS I PICKED UP THE CAR COALITION??T HEAR THE RATTLING NOISE AS MUCH.YOU COULD STILL HEAR THE RATTLING BUT VERY SLIGHTLY THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS OFF. AFTER A WEEK DRIVING MY CAR YOU CAN HEAR THE RATTLING NOISE VERY, VERY LITTLE. THEY FIXED THE RATTLING NOISE SOMEWHAT IT WAS COVERED ( BY POWER TRAIN WARRANTY) HOWEVER BOTH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND THE STABILITRAK LIGHT CAME BACK ON. AND THE CAR STILL WOULD STAY ON FOR ABOUT 2 TO 3 SECONDS AFTER I TURNED THE CAR OFF. AND SOMETIMES WHEN I START MY CAR IT WOULD REV UP HAS IF I STEP ON THE GAS PEDAL AND THEN IT WILL DROP TO NORMAL. ALL ISSUES WERE NOT RESOLVED STILL HAVING PROBLEMS WITH CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STABILITRAK LIGHT ON AND THE CAR STAYING ON. FOR A FEW SECONDS. AFTER TURN OFF THE CAR. TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP NOW THEY ARE SAYING THEY FOUND THAT IT IS A PROBLEM WITH THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP AND THE BODY THROTTLE. NOT FUNCTIONING CORRECTLY. THIS MAY CAUSE GAS TO LEAK INTO THE OIL. I DID SOME RESEARCH THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE 4 CYL EQUINOX. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THE REPAIR WOULD NOT BE UNDER THE 100,000 MILE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE ENGINE AND THE STABILITY LIGHTS ILLUMINATED FOLLOWED BY A DINGING NOISE. THE VEHICLE SLOWED TO 20 MPH AND THEN STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS MERGED TO THE SHOULDER AND WAS RESTARTED AFTER FIFTEEN MINUTES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION WHO STATED THAT THE FUEL PUMP AND THROTTLE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND THE CONTACT WAS AWAITING A RETURN CALL. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 82,000.
EQUINOX STARTS POWERING DOWN OCCASIONALLY DURING ACCELERATION THROUGH HARD RIGHT TURNS AND, ONCE, DURING A SOFT BUMP AGAINST A CURB. DASHBOARD LIGHTS TURN OFF, ENGINE DIES, ETC. CAN BE RESTARTED FROM STOP. WE HAD BEEN ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM, BUT HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO DO SO AT THE DEALERSHIP, SO IT REMAINS UNFIXED. WE ARE CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF DRIVING A VEHICLE THAT MAY POWER DOWN DURING A HARD RIGHT TURN AND HEAVY ACCELERATION. WE NOW INTENTIONALLY ACCELERATE SLOWLY AND CAUTIOUSLY THROUGH RIGHT TURNS. WE WORRY THAT WE WILL GET IN A SITUATION WHERE, FOR INSTANCE, WE'LL NEED TO TURN OUT OF THE WAY OF A SEMI TRAILER AND OUR CAR WILL POWER DOWN, PUTTING US IN GREAT DANGER. *TR
SMELLS LIKE SOMETHING IS BURNING & SERVICE ENGINE STAYS LIGHT IS ON, ENGINE HAS LOW POWER OR IS IDLING ROUGH WITH A WHINING NOISE FROM HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP. MODEL 2010 EQUINOX, HAS A COUPLE OTHER RECALLS THAT ALSO TIE INTO THE CONSTANT ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. ALSO I RECENTLY WENT TO ADJUST THE VENT AND THE BUTTON DISAPPEARED INTO THE DASH. WHAT'S THIS. IT'S SOMETHING NEW EVERY WEEK NOW. NO KNOW CAUSE FOR THE ENGINE LIGHT, DESPITE DIAG. TESTS. MY FUEL MILEAGE IS ALSO SHORTENED ALTHOUGH THE VEHICLE IS ON A STRICT MAINT. SCHEDULE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TIMING CHAIN NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. AFTER TWO ATTEMPTS, THE VEHICLE RESTARTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO A DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE DETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 62,300.
THE SERVICE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON. IT APPEARS THE SENSOR UNDER THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT IS DEFECTIVE AND THERE IS A RECALL FROM MAY 30, 2012 AFFECTING ONLY 437 VEHICLES FROM MODEL YEAR 2007!: NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 07V344000. THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM FOR MORE RECENT GM VEHICLES. *TR
I HAD BEEN HAVING OIL CONSUMPTION PROBLEMS, LIKE MANY OTHER OWNERS OF 2010 EQUINOXES AND WAS UNDERGOING AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST. WAS DRIVING ON I-81S ON A 500 MILE TRIP. WHEN I STARTED THE CAR AFTER STOPPING FOR GAS, IT IDLED VERY ROUGHLY. FOOLISHLY, I GOT BACK ON THE INTERSTATE, THINKING THAT MAYBE A HIGHER SPEED WOULD HELP. THE CAR WOULD NOT GET UP TO A SAFE SPEED AND COMPLETELY STALLED OUT ABOUT A QUARTER MILE FROM THE EXIT, LEAVING ME STRANDED (BY MYSELF) 150 MILES FROM MY DESTINATION. WAS TOWED 70 MILES TO A DEALERSHIP WHO REPLACED THE TIMING CHAIN, TENSIONER AND FUEL PUMP. THIS DEALER STATED THE PROBLEM WAS DUE TO LOW OIL LEVEL AS WELL AS DIRTY OIL. I INCURRED AN UNEXPECTED $1200 BILL AND WAS WITHOUT MY CAR FOR A WEEK. MY HOME DEALERSHIP REPLACED MY ENGINE 2 WEEKS AGO AND I RECEIVED REIMBURSEMENT FOR THE REPAIR BILL. I AM PLEASED, PRESENTLY, WITH THE RESPONSE FROM GM, BUT IT REQUIRED PERSISTENCE. ALTHOUGH I HAVE HAD MY PRESENT PROBLEM RECTIFIED, I'M REPORTING THIS PROBLEM AS MANY, MANY OTHERS HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING THIS SAME PROBLEM WITH VARYING RESPONSES FROM GM. I'VE ALSO EXPERIENCED SOME SHIFTING PROBLEMS AS WELL, BUT THE ENGINE PROBLEM TOOK PRECEDENCE, SO I'M WAITING TO SEE IF THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEM CONTINUES! *TR
EXPRESSING CONCERN OVER THE SAFETY DEVICES IN HIS 2010 CHEVROLET EQUINOX, THE AIR BAG SYSTEM; THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN FOR REPAIR SIX TIMES AND HAS NOT BEEN FIXED AND THE AIR BAG MESSAGE CONTINUES TO COME ON; HE BELIEVES THIS IS A SAFETY DEFECT. *SMD THE DEALER REPLACED THE TENSIONER KIT ON THE DRIVER'S SEAT BELT. HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM CONTINUED.*JB
I HAVE HAD MANY PROBLEMS WITH THIS VEHICLE REGARDING ELECTRICAL, AUDIO, AIRBAG LIGHTS COMING ON AND NOW ENGINE OIL. THE ENGINE OIL WAS JUST DETECTED AT 80,000 MILES HOWEVER I HAVE COMPLAINED THAT MY CAR DOES NOT RUN RIGHT SINCE THE BEGINNING. THEY CLAIM THAT THE ENGINE IS BURNING OFF THE OIL HOWEVER I AM VERY GOOD AT GETTING MY OIL CHANGES AROUND 3000 MILES AND WHERE IS THE OIL GOING? ITS NOT IN MY GARAGE OR ON THE ENGINE? I HAVE HAD MY CAR COMPLETELY GO BLANK ON THE DASH NO INDICATOR LIGHTS ETC. I HAVE FILLED A COMPLAINT WITH CHEVY TO NO AVAIL. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED THAT NOW MY ENGINE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED OR MAYBE JUST HE PISTONS? AT 80,000 MILES? THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE I OWNED IT FROM SEPT 2009! I THINK CHEVY NEEDS TO STEP UP AND MAKE THINGS RIGHT! DISAPPOINTED. JUST FOR THE RECORD I BOUGHT THIS CAR IN CALIFORNIA. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HEATER DID NOT WORK IN THE VEHICLE. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED.THE VEHICLE WAS SUPPOSED TO BE SERVICED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 09V489000 (VISIBILITY), BUT THE DEALER DID NOT LOCATE ANY FAILURES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
CAR WAS HAVING ROUGH IDLING AND INTERMITTENT STALLING AT STOPS STARTING ABOUT A WEEK AGO. STALLED AT LIGHT YESTERDAY AND COULDN'T KEEP IT STARTED; HAPPENED TO BE ACROSS THE STREET FROM DEALERSHIP. SHOP INDICATED IT WAS DUE TO LATE OIL CHANGE (LOW AND DIRTY OIL). ONLY POTENTIAL ISSUE IDENTIFIED WAS THE CAM SHAFT ACTUATORS STICKING BUT INDICATED THERE WERE NO BULLETINS OR RECALLS AND IT WAS JUST FROM THE LATE OIL CHANGE. UPON FURTHER RESEARCH, I HAVE FOUND A LOT OF INFORMATION INDICATING THERE HAVE BEEN A LOT OF STALLING AND ACTUATOR ISSUES WITH THIS VEHICLE AND THERE REALLY WOULD BE NO REASON AT ALL MY OIL WOULD BE LOW OF COURSE (LAST OIL CHANGE HAD BEEN 7000 MILES AGO - I COMMUTE TO WORK DAILY SO THE MILES ADD UP QUICKLY). I'M DEFINITELY ANTICIPATING FURTHER ISSUES BUT SO FAR SINCE YESTERDAY, JUST THE OIL CHANGE HAS IMPROVED THE ROUGH IDLING AND NO STALLING YET. WITH THE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS I'VE SEEN ON LINE (AND EVEN MY CO-WORKER GUESSED I HAD AN EQUINOX WHEN I DESCRIBED THE ISSUE BECAUSE HE HAS HAD 2 ACTUATOR REPLACEMENTS AND TIMING CHAIN REPLACED), I'M FINDING IT VERY HARD TO BELIEVE THE DEALER DIDN'T KNOW THESE ISSUES ARE OUT THERE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE STARTING THE VEHICLE THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO CONFIRMED THAT THERE WAS ENVIRONMENTAL CORROSION INSIDE THE VEHICLE WHICH CAUSED THE CONNECTORS TO THE AIR BAG TO FAIL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 83,000. UPDATED 10/18/12*LJ THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE OLD CONNECTION DID NOT HAVE A SEAL WHICH CAUSED THE FAILURE. UPDATED 10/26/2012 *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DEFROSTER FAILED AND THE INTERIOR HEAT WOULD NOT OPERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER FOR INSPECTION BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 24,000.
WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE AT ANY TIME THE ENGINE IDLES VERY ROUGH AND RPMS FLUCTUATE SIGNIFICANTLY ENOUGH THAT IT SHAKES THE VEHICLE. ENGINE NOISE IS VERY LOUD, EVEN FOR A SMALL DIRECT-INJECTED ENGINE. WHEN DRIVING THE THROTTLE IS SLOW OR JERKY TO RESPOND AND THE ENGINE NOISE INCREASES. AT DIFFERENT RPMS A RATTLING SOUND COMES FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT, AS THOUGH SOMETHING IS LOOSE AND WILL FALL OFF. I HAVE HAD THIS VEHICLE AT OUR CHEVY DEALER SEVERAL TIMES FOR THIS ISSUE AND MOST RECENTLY FOR THE VEHICLE NOT SHUTTING-DOWN WHEN POWERED OFF. THE HIGH-PRESSURE FUEL PUMP WAS REPLACED BASED ON GM BULLETIN BUT NOTHING WAS DONE ABOUT THE LOUD AND OBSCENE ENGINE NOISE. DEALER STATED THIS WAS NORMAL OPERATION ALTHOUGH BULLETINS EXIST IN GM SYSTEM FOR TIMING AND VALVE-TRAIN ISSUES AND REPAIRS. I AM CONCERNED THAT THE ENGINE WILL SIMPLY QUITE ONE DAY UNDER NORMAL OPERATION. PLANNED OBSOLESCENCE AT 100,001 MILES? I WILL BE TAKING THE VEHICLE TO ANOTHER DEALER VERY SOON TO TRY AN REMEDY THE SITUATION AND UNDERSTAND MY CONCERN AND WORK WITH ME TO CORRECT ISSUES. *TR
FOR THE PAST YEAR I HAVE BEEN GOING TO THE DEALER FOR MY REGULAR CAR CHECK-UPS AND EACH TIME WOULD COMPLAIN THAT MY TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT WOULD COME ON THE KEPT CHECKING THE TIRE AND FOUND NOTHING WRONG. I HAD QUESTIONED THE SITUATION ONE OTHER TIME AT AN OIL CHANGE. THE STEERING JERKING WAS GETTING MORE INTENSE OVER TIME, SCHEDULED FOR IT TO BE CHECKED ON JUNE 30, 2011. ON MY REPAIR ORDER #192798 IT IS STATED REPLACED STEERING GEAR. WHEN I PICKED UP THE CAR I WAS INFORMED THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING, BUT THEY FOLLOWED UP WITH GM AND GOT A BULLETIN #PIT4992A. THEY PERFORMED THE SERVICE LISTED IN THE BULLETIN. AS OF TODAY THAT SEEMS TO HAVE FIXED THE PROBLEM. THE REASON FOR LISTING THE COVERED SERVICE IS THE PROBLEM SEEMED TO BE GETTING WORSE WITH ONLY 18,000 MILES. THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL SO FAR AS I KNOW. WE THE JERKING GETTING WORSE WITH TIME I WAS NOT SURE IF IT COULD CAUSE A COMPLETE STEERING LOSS WHILE DRIVING.
MILDEW SMELL IN CAR FROM AIR VENTS, AND ALSO STRONGER SMELL FROM WINDOW WELLS WHEN WINDOWS ARE ROLLED DOWN. FIRST, DEALERSHIP REPLACED CABIN AIR FILTER. DIDN'T CORRECT PROBLEM. TWO WEEKS LATER, TOOK IT BACK AND THEY DETERMINED DRAIN HOLES IN ALL FOUR DOORS WERE "CLOGGED" AND MILDEW WAS BUILDING UP INSIDE DOORS. DEALERSHIP CLAIMS THEY TOOK APART ALL DOORS, CLEANED AND SPRAYED INSIDE WITH DISINFECTANT AND CLEANED OUT WEEP HOLES IN DOORS.- ALL WITHIN TWO HOURS. THEY TOLD US TO "KEEP AN EYE ON THE WEEP HOLES YOU'LL PROBABLY HAVE TO KEEP HAVING THIS DONE." THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE ON A BRAND-NEW CAR. IT CAUSES A TERRIBLE SMELL, AND AN UNSAFE RESPIRATORY ENVIRONMENT FOR PASSENGERS. *TR
BROUGHT VEHICLE INTO FIRST DEALER FOR LOUD ENGINE NOISE AT LOW SPEED (1 TO 10 MPH)06/17/2011. DEALER SAID IT WAS THE FUEL INJECTORS AND SAID THEY WILL INSTALL AN INSULATOR TO QUIET THE NOISE. INSTALLED INSULATOR PROBLEM NOT RESOLVED 7/1/2011. BROUGHT IT TO ANOTHER DEALER FOR THE SAME NOISE. DEALER FOUND NOISE FROM TIMING CHAIN7/26/2012. THEY REPLACED TIMING CHAIN AND TENSIONER8/31/2011. PROBLEM SEEMED TO BE RESOLVED. 8 MONTHS LATER THE NOISE IS BACK. GAS MILEAGE AND POWER HAS DECREASED. DEALER SUGGESTED RUNNING A SOLUTION THROUGH THE ENGINE TO CLEAR OUT CARBON FROM LOW OCTANE GAS. DEALER APPLIED SOLUTION AND TOLD ME TO RUN TWO TANKS OF SUPER UNLEDED TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM 4/6/2012. NOISE IS STILL THERE AFTER 2 TANKS OF SUPER UNLEADED 4/13/2012. GOING BACK TO THE DEALER IN A WEEK 4/20/2012. CONTACTED GM IN DETROIT TO EXPRESS MY ANGER.4/13/2012..
PURCHASED 2010 EQUINOX LS ON 8/14/09. THE VEHICLE HAS INCURRED NUMEROUS VISITS TO THE DEALERSHIP TO CORRECT A MAJOR WATER LEAKAGE PROBLEM,DEFECTIVE MODULE WHICH CONTROLLED DASHBOARD FUNCTIONS INCLUDING HEAT AND DEFROST AND A SEVERE OIL CONSUMPTION CONDITION WHICH REMAINS UNRESOLVED. COMPLAINTS OF ENGINE KNOCKING WERE REPORTED TO 2 DEALERSHIPS WITH NO RESOLVE. APPROXIMATELY 6 WEEKS AGO THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED THE SAME KNOCKING AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. THE DEALER REPLACED THE TIMING CHAIN,THERMOSTAT ALONG WITH VARIOUS SEALS AND VALVES. THIS PAST MONDAY THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED THE SAME TAPPING NOISE AND SHUTTERING,AFTER WAS DETERMINED THE VEHICLE HAD NO OIL THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WERE THEY DISCOVERED THE CAR HAD CONSUMED OVER SIX QUARTS OF OIL WITH NO VISIBLE SIGNS OF OIL LEAKAGE ANYWHERE. THE WERE ADVISED BY GM TO DO AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST OVER 5000 MILES WITH A BI-WEEKLY INSPECTION BY THE DEALER. A RESEARCH OF INTERNET FORUMS REVEALED THIS SITUATION TO BE A COMMON COMPLAINT WITH VARIOUS CONCESSIONS MADE TO OTHER OWNERS. THIS IS A DANGEROUS DEFECT THAT CAN LEAVE A DRIVER STRANDED IN THE HEAT OF SUMMER OR DEAD OF WINTER WITH LIFE THREATENING POSSIBILITES. THIS MATTER DESERVES YOU IMMEDIATE ATTENTION. *TR
I STARTED HEARING A KNOCKING NOISE AT 28000 MILES. HAD SERVICED BUT AFTER SEVERAL MILES NOISE STARTED AGAIN. NOISE CONTINUES SO SERVICE IS NEEDED(10-2-13). I HAD SEVERAL GASKETS, SEAL, BOLTS,FUEL PUMP(WHICH WAS LEAKING RAW FUEL INTO INSIDE OF ENGINE), BALANCE CHAIN, TIMING CHAIN, GUIDE FOR TIMING CHAIN(WHICH GUIDE AND DEBRIS FELL IN OIL PAN), AND TWO TENSIONER REPLACED AS WELL AS OIL LIFE MONITOR RECALL UPDATE. HERE I AM NEARLY 3 MONTHS LATER AND MY 2010 EQUINOX IS IN SHOP(12-31-13) AND CAN'T BE DRIVEN DO TO LOUD NOISES, LOSE OF POWER FUEL AND OIL, AS WELL AS STALLING AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT BEING ON CONTINUALLY. I DID EXTENSIVE RESEARCH AND FOUND THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE WITH SAME YEAR AND MODEL EQUINOX AS MINE TO BE HAVING SAME PROBLEMS AS MINE AT SAME MILEAGE. I FOUND THAT THE ENGINE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE OF DAMAGE DONE BY LEAKING FUEL PUMP. SO NO MATTER WHAT WORK IS DONE OR WHAT IS REPLACED PROBLEMS STILL KEEP HAPPENING BECAUSE DAMAGE IS ALL READY DONE TO INSIDE OF ENGINE AND THE ENTIRE ENGINE SHOULD BE REPLACED. PLEASE HELP, THIS IS A MAJOR PROBLEM THAT EFFECTS THOUSANDS AND NOTHING IS BEING DONE FOR US OWNERS. THOSE WHO ARE LUCKY TO GET THEIR ENGINE REPLACED DON'T GET AN ACCURATE WARRANTY AND AFTER SEVERAL MILES THE NEW ENGINE STARTS HAVING THE SAME ISSUES. PLEASE HELP!! *TR
