THIS CAR BURNS OIL FAST AND I LEARNED THE HARD WAY. 2 YEARS AFTER BUYING THE CAR ALL THE PISTONS IN THE ENGINE BENT DUE TO LACK OF OIL. WHEN THE CAR WAS GETTING FIXED THE MECHANIC SAID IT WAS BONE DRY AND I HAD JUST HAD AN OIL CHANGE 2 MONTHS PRIOR. $3,200 LATER THE CAR WAS FIXED, BUT IT STILL HAD ISSUES SHIFTING. IN COLDER WEATHER THE CAR FELT LIKE IT WOULD BARELY MOVE. I HAD NO REAL MECHANICAL ISSUES UNTIL A YEAR LATER. I HAD DRIVEN IT 45 MILES AND STOPPED AT A GAS STATION, WHEN I WENT TO TURN THE CAR BACK ON ALL OF THE EMERGENCY LIGHTS CAME ON AS WELL AS THE 'STABILITRAK' LIGHT AND THE CAR WOULDN'T MOVE. THE ONLY WAY I COULD GET IT TO MOVE WAS BY TURNING THE TRACTION OFF, AND WAS THANKFULLY ABLE TO DRIVE IT HOME. I GOT IT INTO THE GM DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THE STABILITY TRACK AND THE CRANKSHAFT NEEDED REPLACED. MY ABS LIGHT WAS STILL FAILING AND I'M TOTAL IT WAS ANOTHER $1,400 OF WORK. NOW THE ENGINE SEEMS TO BE MAKING A CRANKING NOISE. I'M TIRED OF WASTING MONEY ON THIS PIECE OF JUNK!!!!!
2 DAYS AFTER DRIVING THIS 2010 CHEVY EQUINOX OFF THE LOT. THE POWER STEERING PUMP GOES OUT. THE POWER STEERING HAD A WINDING NOISE SINCE IT WAS REPLACED, AND THEY TOLD ME THERE MAY JUST BE AIR IN THE LINE. AFTER RIVING IT THAT WAY FOR A MONTH TOOK IT IN TO GET THAT LOOKED AT AND THEY ENDED UP REPLACING THAT AND SAID IT WAS A FAULTY PUMP. THEN DAYS LATER ONE OF THE TIRE SENSORS GOES OUT. HAD THAT REPLACED! THEN A FEW HOURS AFTER DRIVING IT THAT SAME TIRE SENSOR GOES OUT AGAIN. THIS IS THE WORST VEHICLE THAT GENERAL MOTORS AS MADE!!!!! IT HAD NEW TIRES WHEN WE BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE AND NOT EVEN 8 MONTHS THE TWO REAR TIRES WERE MAKING THE REAR END SLIDE ALL OVER THE ROAD AND AFTER INVESTIGATING THE PROBLEM I FOUND THE TWO REAR TIRES HAD WIRES SHOWING ON THE INSIDE OF THE WHEEL TREAD ALL THE WAY AROUND THE WHEELS. TAKE IT IN AND THE MECHANIC SAID IT WAS BECAUSE WE DIDN'T HAVE A TIRE ROTATION! WELL, AFTER REPLACING THE TIRES, THEN 6 MONTHS DOWN THE ROAD THE NEW TIRES ARE IN THE EXACT SAME PLACE JUST ON THE REAR TIRES. THERE IS NO WAY THAT YOU NEED TO HAVE A TIRE ROTATION THAT OFTEN. HAD THEM REPLACED ONCE AGAIN. THE HEAT STOPPED WORKING AND ONLY BLOWS COLD AIR! FOUND OUT THAT THESE VEHICLES ARE KNOWN FOR THIS ISSUE. THAT SENSOR UP UNDER THE GLOVE BOX ISN'T STRONG ENOUGH TO OPEN/CLOSE THE VENT TO KEEP REGULATING THE HEAT CONTROL. NOW, THE 2ND SET OF TIRES HAVE THE SAME WIRES GOING AROUND THE TIRES!!!!! MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE! IF, GM DOESN'T DO SOMETHING ABOUT THESE ISSUES THEY ARE GOING TO BE FACING A LOT OF LAWSUITS OR CUSTOMERS GOING ELSEWHERE. NOW THE WIPERS STOPPED WORKING AND LIKE THE CONTROL ARMS FELL OFF UNDER THE OUTER DASH AREA!!!! TAKE THESE VEHICLES STRAIGHT TO THE JUNKYARDS. OH, AND THE STABILITY TRAC CONTROL ISSUE HAS HAPPENED AS WELL WERE THE VEHICLE LOSES ALL POWER IN THE MIDDLE OF A FOUR-LANE FREEWAY!!!
MY HUSBAND AND I WERE HEADED HOME FROM ASHTABULA DURING A HEAVY RAIN STORM ON A STATE HIGHWAY 528 N OF PARKMAN, TRAVELING APPROX 45 MPH, WHEN THE WIPER BLADES ABRUPTLY QUIT WORKING! WE WERE IN AMISH TERRITORY (AS IN THE POSSIBILITY OF APPROACHING HORSE-DRAWN BUGGIES) AND OUR VISIBILITY WAS INSTANTLY REDUCED TO ZERO. I DID SOME RESEARCH ON LINE AND DISCOVERED THAT THIS IS A COMMON COMPLAINT W/ THE2010 EQUINOX AND IT IS DUE TO THE POOR DESIGN (PLASTIC BUSHINGS).
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO DECELERATE AND CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP. THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, BUT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO MOVE. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WAS CONTACTED TO ASSIST WITH REPAIRING THE VEHICLE ONSITE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 152,000.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE IN RAIN, THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS STOPPED WORKING. THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS STOPPED AT THE TOP OF THEIR ROTATION, IMPEDING VIEW, AND NO LONGER MOVED. AFTER RETURNING HOME, HAVING TO DRIVE SLOWLY DUE TO HARD RAIN WITHOUT WIPERS, I TURNED THE WIPERS ON AND NOTICED THEY STILL DIDN'T MOVE. I GOT OUT OF THE CAR AND WALKED OVER TO WINDSHIELD TO SEE IF I COULD HEAR THE MOTOR WORKING. I COULD HEAR THE MOTOR BUT SAW NO MOVEMENT OF THE WIPERS. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS PROBLEM, I FOUND OUT THAT THE LINKAGE BUSHINGS ARE UNDER INVESTIGATION AND I WANTED TO INCLUDE MY COMPLAINT SO CHEVY ISSUES A RECALL.
ME AND MY WIFE WERE DRIVING WHEN IT STARTED TO RAIN. SO I TURNED ON THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS. THEN IT STARTED TO POUR DOWN AND IT WAS HARD TO SEE. WHEN I TURNED THE WIPERS ON HIGH SPEED WITHIN A FEW MINUTES THEY STOPPED WORKING. THAT'S WHEN I NOTICED THAT THE WIPERS WERE STUCK IN THE UP POSITION. I COULD NOT SEE ANYTHING I THINK GOD I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER.
WIPERS STOPPED WORKING. WIPER TRANSMISSION BUSHING FAILURE. DRIVING DURING RAINSTORM WIPERS FAILED.
VEHICLE WAS STOPPED AT INTERSECTION. VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE AFTER USING ACCELERATOR, AND THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO RUN AT HIGHER RPM. I WAS ABLE TO MOVE AFTER SHUTTING OFF AND RESTARTING THE VEHICLE. DURING THE SAME DRIVE I ALSO HAD TROUBLE SHIFTING FROM 1ST TO 2ND GEAR WITH HIGH RPM BEFORE A MODERATELY HARD SHIFT WHILE ACCELERATING AFTER A STOP. AMBER CHECK ENGINE, BRAKE, AND ABM LIGHTS ALL LIT. VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY WITH MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSIS AND REPAIR.
TRANSMISSION IS BAD. WHEN I TRY TO ACCELERATE IT DOESN'T GO ANYWHERE AND ITS SKIPPING GEARS AND BUCKING PRIOR TO IT FINALLY NO LONGER DRIVEABLE
WHILE DRIVING IN THE RAIN, THE WIPERS QUIT WORKING. I COULD HEAR THE MOTOR, BUT NO WIPERS
TRANSMISSION FAILURE AT 66,000 MILES WHILE VEHICLE IN MOTION.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH IN INCLEMENT WEATHER, THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS BECAME INOPERABLE WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO SAFELY LEAVE THE ROADWAY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO BE DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 86,000.
GAS IN MY OIL CAUSED BY A FAULTY FUEL PUMP. THIS IS CAUSING MY VEHICLE TO RUN POORLY AND CONTINUE TO RUN AFTER THE KEY IS REMOVED. THIS EFFECTS THE VEHICLE WHEN RUNNING PARKED OR RUNNING IN ALL GEAR POSITIONS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE VEHICLE DECELERATED AND THE RPMS INCREASED. THE CONTACT TURNED ON THE HAZARD LIGHTS AND SHUT OFF THE ENGINE. THE CONTACT RESTARTED THE VEHICLE THREE TIMES AND DROVE HOME. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT A NEW TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE INSTALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 125,000.
THE AC IS GIVING ME ISSUES AND I HAVE SEEN MANY PEOPLE COMPLAIN ABOUT THIS ISSUES WITH THE AC BREAKING BROKE AFTER CERTAIN MILEAGES!
THE VEHICLE TRANSMISSION GETS STUCK AND DOESN'T ALWAYS SHIFT FROM FIRST TO SECOND GEAR. THIS RESULTS IN BEING UNABLE TO ACCELERATE PAST 20-30 MPH UPON TAKEOFF WHICH IS SCARY AND DANGEROUS ON THE HIGHWAY. MY MECHANIC SHOP HAS INFORMED ME THAT THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE (TCM) NEEDS REPLACING. ON 10/14/2016 THERE WAS A RECALL NOTICE FOR THE TCM ON SEVERAL VEHICLES INCLUDING THE 2010-2013 CHEVROLET EQUINOX.GM'S RECALL NUMBERS FOR THIS ARE 50490 AND 50491.
MY DRIVER SEAT IS STUCK IN THE FORWARD POSITION. IT WILL NOT GO BACKWARDS. IT WILL GO UP AND DOWN BUT NOT BACKWARDS.

THE CONTACT USED THE SPARE TIRE AND DROVE THE VEHICLE TO A TIRE FACILITY TO PURCHASE A NEW TIRE. THE MECHANIC DISCOVERED THAT THE FRAME AND COMPONENTS WERE SEVERELY RUSTED AND THE CONTROL ARM WAS FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS DEEMED UNSAFE TO BE DRIVEN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
I GOT MY 2010 CHEVY EQUINOX ON JANUARY 4, 2019. EVER SINCE THE SECOND WEEK, I'VE HAD IT I'VE BEEN HAVING TROUBLE WITH IT AT FIRST I THOUGHT IT JUST BECAUSE I NEEDED A TUNE UP AND OIL CHANGE AFTER I GOT THOSE THE PROBLEM CONTINUED. SO AROUND THE END OF FEBRUARY, I PUT THE SUV IN THE SHOP THEY SAID IT WAS THE WATER PUMP/BALANCE SHAFT CHAIN THE ENTIRE THING COST $669.49. I WAS VERY EXCITED TO GET MY SUV BACK ON MARCH 15, 2019, JUST IN TIME FOR ME TO GO TO OUT OF TOWN JUST TO FIND OUT THE CAR IS MAKING THE SAME NOISE AND DOING THE SAME ROUGH RIDING. I TOOK THE CAR BACK IN THE SHOP FOR A DIAGNOSTIC IN APRIL THEY SAID THAT THEY HAD A LOT OF VEHICLES WITH THE SAME AND TO FILE A COMPLAINT. I PUT THE CAR DOWN SINCE THEN AND IT'S JUST SITTING UNDER GARAGE TAKING MY MONEY. THE CAR ALSO CUT OFF ON ME MULTIPLE TIMES THE LATEST TIME IT HAPPENED TO ME, I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE STREET AND I COULDN'T ACCELERATE AND IT JUST CUT OFF AND I HAD TO PUT ON HAZARDS AND I ALMOST GOT HIT.
WHILE DRIVING THE CAR ON THE HIGHWAY, IT WILL ACCELERATE REALLY HIGH THEN IT WILL SHIFT AND GO BACK DOWN BUT IT'S DOING IT ALMOST ALL THE TIME KNOW. IT SHOWED NO ERROR CODES WHEN TAKEN IN AND TRANSMISSION FLUID IS GOOD.

THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A CERTIFIED MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE LINKAGE FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED WHILE DRIVING DURING A SNOWSTORM. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AGAIN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 187,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND DRIVEN TO ALL AMERICAN CHEVROLET OF SAN ANGELO (203 BRYANT BLVD N, SAN ANGELO, TX 76903) WHERE THE THROTTLE BODY WAS REPLACED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. ADDITIONALLY, WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE SHUDDERED WITH A MESSAGE STATING 'ALL FOUR WHEELS ARE OFF' DISPLAYED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED BACK TO THE SAME DEALER WHERE THE FRONT HUB BEARING AND PASSENGER'S SIDE FRONT WHEEL SPEED SENSOR WERE REPLACED. THE CONTACT CALLED BACK TO THE SAME DEALER TO REPORT AN ISSUE WITH THE TRANSMISSION. WHILE ON HER WAY TO THE DEALER, THE VEHICLE HESITATED WITHOUT WARNING WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. WHILE INSPECTING OF THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT DISCOVERED TRANSMISSION FLUID HAD LEAKED ALL OVER HER ENGINE. THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED BACK TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND OFFERED $400.00 TOWARDS THE COST OF A NEW ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 115,721. *BF *AS
2010 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO FRONT AND REAR RUSTED SUBFRAME. *LD THE CONSUMER STATED THE FRONT AND REAR SUBFRAME WAS COMPLETELY ROTTED. THE ROCKER ARMS ON BOTH SIDES WERE EXTREMELY RUSTED AND SOFT. THE BOTTOM OF THE DOORS WERE ALSO ROTTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. *JS
TAKATA RECALL: MY CARS ENGINE IS RUNNING EXTREMELY ROUGH, IT'S IDLING VERY "BUMPY" AND SEEMS TO SPUTTER, STALLING OUT (WHILE DRIVING OR STOPPED) AND CONTINUING TO RUN A FEW SECONDS AFTER I TURN IT OFF AND THE CHECK ENGINE KEEPS COMING ON AND GOING OFF. WHEN I TOOK IT IN TO SEE WHAT WAS GOING ON WITH IT, THE TECH EXPLAINED THAT MY HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP IS WHAT IS CAUSING ALL THE ISSUES. I WAS TALKING TO A FRIEND ABOUT IT AND SHE SENT ME A LINK SHOWING ME THAT A RECALL WAS DONE ON MY MAKE AND MODEL SO I CALLED MY LOCAL CHEVY DEALERSHIP AND THEY SHOW NOTHING FOR MY VIN. UPON CALLING THE ACTUAL CHEVY NUMBER LISTED ON THE SITE WHERE WE SAW THE RECALL THEY EXPLAINED THAT EVEN THOUGH MY CAR IS HAVING THE SAME ISSUES FOR THE PART BEING RECALLED, MY VIN IS NOT INCLUDED AND THAT I WILL HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET. THIS IS EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING! AFTER FINDING THIS WEBSITE I STARTED READING COMPLAINTS AND THE SAME THING IS HAPPENING TO ANOTHER PERSON WITH THE SAME VEHICLE. I UNDERSTAND THAT THESE CARS ARE MADE IN DIFFERENT LOCATIONS AND THE PARTS IN THOSE LOCATIONS MAY BE MADE DIFFERENTLY THEN THE PARTS IN OTHERS BUT IF WE ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUES, I WOULD THINK THAT ANOTHER INVESTIGATION NEEDS TO BE OPENED AND ANOTHER RECALL NEEDS TO BE ISSUED INCLUDING ALL VIN'S FOR THIS MAKE AND MODEL. IF THIS HAS TO BE PAID OUT OF POCKET A LITTLE HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED TOO. THIS IS AN EXPENSIVE FIX.
THE CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEM INTERMITTENTLY BLOWS EITHER HIGH HEAT OR NO HEAT AT ALL. I FOUND A SAFETY RECALL # 090298 FOR THIS SPECIFIC PROBLEM AND CALLED MY DEALER. I FILED A COMPLAINT 4 DAYS AGO #11182292. I'VE CONTACTED GM AND THEY HAVE NO RECALL ON MY SPECIFIC VEHICLE. THERE WAS A RECALL #090298 DONE FOR THE EXACT PROBLEM I'M EXPERIENCING. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR GM SEEMS WILLING TO INCLUDE MY CAR IN THIS RECALL. I'M A SENIOR CITIZEN LIVING ON A FIXED INCOME. I'M TAKING THE CAR TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS TODAY. I'M ASKING FOR HELP PAYING FOR THIS IF IT IS DIAGNOSED WITH THE SAME PROBLEM AS THE VEHICLES THAT WERE RECALLED. A YEAR AFTER I PURCHASED MY USED EQUINOX MY WATER PUMP WENT OUT. WHILE AT THE DEALERSHIP THEY REALIZE THAT MY OPINIONS HAVE BEEN WORN AND MY TIMING CHAIN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. LESS THAN 6 MONTHS AFTER MY ENGINE LIGHT POPPED ON.. THIS CAR HAS BEEN UNRELIABLE ALMOST THE WHOLE TIME I'VE OWNED IT. LAST MARCH I REPLACE THE TIMING CHAIN AGAIN. AFTER MUCH RESEARCH I REALIZE THAT MY TIMING CHAIN KEEPS GETTING DESTROYED BECAUSE THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP IS LEAKING GAS INTO MY CRANKCASE. CHEVY HAS PUT OUT A RECALL FOR MY MAKE AND MODEL VEHICLE BUT MY VIN IS NOT LISTED. I'M NOT SURE WHY IT WOULDN'T BE LISTED ESPECIALLY SINCE I AM EXPERIENCING THE SAME SYMPTOMS THAT IS LISTED IN THE BULLETIN.

THIS IS THE 2ND TIME MY WIPERS HAVE SEIZED WHILE OPERATING DURING A SNOWFALL. IT WAS NOT STORMY BLIZZARD CONDITIONS EITHER JUST HAD THE WIPERS ON SLOW TO CLEAR LIGHT SNOW. I WAS CITY DRIVING BARELY DOING 25 BOTH TIMES. IT HAPPENED LAST APRIL I HAD IT REPAIRED. NOW THEY SEIZED AGAIN LAST NIGHT. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZZARD AND I THIS CHEVROLET SHOULD TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR IT. I HAD LESS THEN 100,000 MILES ON IT THE FIRST TIME AN NOW I HAVE 104,000 AND IT BROKE AGAIN.
WHILE DRIVING THROUGH A RAIN STORM ON INTERSTATE 495 SOUTH CAPITAL BELTWAY THE CAR WINDSHIELD WIPERS STOPPED. THE WIPERS WOULD NOT WORK.
I NEED TO REPORT THAT WHEN DRIVING ON THESE ICY ROADS THAT MY AWD EQUINOX FEELS LIKE IT SWERVES? IT FEELS LIKE IT TAKES ME INTO THE OTHER LANE MOST OF THE TIME. NOW, I DON'T KNOW IF ITS THE AWD CAUSING IT BUT OTHER AWD VEHICLES THAT I'VE DRIVEN HAVE NEVER DID IT THIS BAD TO THE POINT THAT IT FEELS ALMOST LIKE MY BACK END STARTS GOING SIDEWAYS.
WAS IN MOTION ON THE HIGHWAY DURING A STATE OF EMERGENCY SNOW STORM AND THE WIPERS WENT COMPLETELY OUT I SPINNED AND ALMOST CRASHED. AFTER READING REVIEWS THIS IS COMMON AND GM ONLY RECALLED CERTAIN YEARS AND VIN NUMBERS LEAVING OTHERS TO DEAL WITH THE SAFETY ISSUE THIS IS A MAJOR CONCERN. MY SON WAS ALSO IN THE CAR AND A PART OF THE FAULTY WIPER SYSTEM CHEVY IS SELLING TO ITS CUSTOMERS.
WAS DRIVING ON THE ROAD. THE STABILI TRACK CAME ON AGAIN HAD THIS REPLACED LAST YEAR, CAME ON THE THE CAR COMPLETELY SHUT OFF WHILE IN DRIVE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. SCARED ME TO DEATH. HAD TO HAVE TO HAVE TOWED, NOW I'M LOOKING AT PAYING MORE TO GET IT FIXED THEN WHAT I OWE ON IT
DRIVING ON STATE HIGHWAY WHEN VEHICLE STARTED ACTING LIKE IT WOULD DIE. I WAS ALMOST HOME AND WHEN I PARKED IT FOUND IT HAD ALMOST NO OIL IN VEHICLE AFTER CHECKING IT BEFORE TRAVELING HOME. OIL LIGHT DID NOT COME ON. MECHANIC SAYS FROZEN PCV VALVE IN REAR CRANKSHAFT; IT COULD HAVE BLOWN AND LEFT ME STRANDED OR IN ACCIDENT; MECHANIC SAID THERE WAS A RECALL BUT MY PARTICULAR VIN WASN'T INCLUDED
ON MONDAY 1/21/2019, MY CAR BROKE DOWN ON THE SIDE OF A BUSY FOUR LANE ROAD. I HAD IT TOWED TO MY MECHANIC'S SHOP WHERE THE PROBLEM WAS DIAGNOSED AS A BAD PCV VALVE SYSTEM. THIS PART IS ENGINEERED VERY POORLY AND GM HAS CONTINUED TO USE IT ANYWAY. THE PCV VALVE SYSTEM ALLOWS WATER TO COLLECT IN IT AND THEN FREEZE, IN RETURN BLOWING OUT THE REAR MAIN SEAL SO THE ENGINE NO LONGER HOLDS OIL. CURRENTLY, GM HAS A "RECALL" ON THIS PART, GM BULLETIN #14882, WHICH SHOULD COVER A CAR OF THE EXACT SAME MAKE, MODEL, AND YEAR AS MINE FOR UP TO 120,000 MILES OR 10 YEARS. MINE FALLS WITHIN BOTH OF THOSE SPECS. HOWEVER, WHEN CONTACTING GM ABOUT THIS RECALL, I HAVE BEEN INFORMED THAT THIS SPECIFIC RECALL "DOES NOT INCLUDE MY VIN#." AFTER RESEARCHING, I'VE DISCOVERED THIS IS A MUCH LARGER PROBLEM THAN GM IS WILLING TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR, AS IT IS HAPPENING TO MANY OF THEIR CUSTOMERS NATIONWIDE AND THEY'RE ALL BEING TOLD THE SAME THING I WAS, THAT IT DOESN'T MATCH THE VIN#. I SPENT TWO DAYS MAKING PHONE CALLS, BEING ON HOLD, AND WAITING FOR A RETURN PHONE CALL FROM SOMEONE IN THE "EXECUTIVE DEPARTMENT." BECAUSE I COULDN'T WAIT TO HAVE A WORKING CAR WHILE WAITING ON THEIR PHONE CALL, I INSTRUCTED MY REPAIR MAN TO FIX MY CAR AND NOW I'M BEING TOLD GM WILL NOT HELP ME AT ALL BECAUSE I HAD IT REPAIRED ON MY OWN ACCORD. WHEN TRYING TO ORDER THIS PART TO REPAIR MY CAR, MY REPAIR MAN DISCOVERED THAT THIS PART IS BACKORDERED THROUGH GM, BECAUSE EVERYONE NEEDS IT REPLACED. THE SHOP MY CAR IS BEING REPAIRED THROUGH HAS HAD THREE EQUINOXES COME INTO THEIR SHOP SINCE TUESDAY FOR THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM, AND THEY'VE ALL BEEN TOLD THE SAME THING I HAVE BY GM CUSTOMER SERVICE...AND THAT'S JUST ONE SMALL SHOP IN OHIO. I'D LIKE GM TO EXTEND THE RECALL TO COVER NOT JUST MINE, BUT ALL CARS THIS PART HAS BEEN USED ON, AND ALSO COVER THE EXPENSES TO REPAIR THE ENGINE IN MY CAR THAT IT DAMAGED.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 105,000.
BALANCE CHAIN PINS WEAR, ALLOWING THE CHAIN TO STRETCH.CAUSE ENGINE NOISE. I TOOK THE CAR IN FOR A BRAKE JOB AND SAID THE ENGINE IS MAKING NOISES IT SHOULDN'T BE MAKING.THE ADVISOR SAID THAT'S NOMAL FOR THAT CAR TO MAKE THAT NOISE.IT'S THE SAME RECALL FOR THE 2010-2011 EQUINOX ON THE 2.4L ENGINE.(LAF).THAT YEAR 2010-2011 HAVE A SPECIAL COVERAGE ADJUSTMENTTHE 2014 EQUINOX HAS THE SAME PROBLEMS AND YOU NEED TO LOOK INTO THIS BECAUSE PEOPLE PAYING FOR A NO FIX.
WIPER STOPPED WORKING LINKAGE BROKE
JANUARY 8TH IT WAS RAINING REALLY HEAVY AND I WAS ON MY WAY TO WORK WHILE I WAS DRIVING DOWN A BUSY CITY STREET TO WORK THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS JUST SUDDENLY STOPPED. ALSO RIGHT AFTER I'VE GOTTEN MY CAR MY CAR WAS MAKING A LOUD NOISE I TOOK IT TO THE SHOP AND THEY TOLD ME THERE'S A CRACK IN THE EXHAUST BOTH OF THESE PROBLEMS HE SAID ARE VERY COMMON IN ALL THE EQUINOX AND THEY ACTUALLY HAVE A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM WITH THE 2013 CHEVY EQUINOX
The climate controls, including the seat warmers, located on the control panel directly below the radio/stereo controls on my 2010 Chevy Equinox stopped working. As a result, the ability to control the temperature and direction of heated/cooled air was lost. I tolerated the conditions for several seasons, winter being the toughest due to temp and the need for defrost, until buying a new car (as an addition, not a replacement vehicle). As my oldest child became of age to begin driving, I've attempted to prepare the car for his driving and safety. In researching how to repair this malfunction, I came across a recall that addresses this exact problem; however, upon taking my Chevy Equinox to my local Chevy dealership, I discovered that my VIN is not on the list for this repair. The coincidence that my car falls in the category of vehicles included for this recall (Bulletin No.: 09298C), but is not included is confusing, to say the least. There were no warning lamps or messages prior to this failure that began in 2019.

DRIVER'S SIDE AND PASSENGER'S SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAGS DEPLOYED WITHOUT HAVING MAJOR IMPACT. DRIVER BRUSHED A CURB WHILE DRIVING THE AND AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. THERE IS NO SIGN OF IMPACT OR DAMAGE ON THE VEHICLE THAT SHOULD HAVE RESULTED IN THIS HAPPENING.

ALSO FEW DAYS LATER IT WAS STORMING AND MY WIPERS STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE WINDOW AND I WAS ON THE FWY IN THE FAST LANE. I HAD TO GET SOAKED FROM ROLLING M WINDOW DOWN TO PULL OVER. ROADSIDE CAME TO STOP TRAFFIC TO LET ME ON THE RIGHT SIDE SHOULDER BECAUSE I WAS LUCKY I HAD ROOM TO PULL OVER OR EVEN SEE IN THE FIRST PLACE. I COULDNT SEE ANYTHING!

WHEN ORDERING REPAIR PARTS I NOTED THE WIPER LINKAGE IS COMMON TO ALL EQUINOX MODELS FROM 2010-2017. VEHICLE HAS ROUGHLY 80,000 MILES AT TIME.OF FAILURE.
