TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT PERFORMING PROPERLY AND FELT SLUGGISH. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION AND THE TIMING CHAIN. TRAPP CHEVROLET IN HOUMA, LOUISIANA WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALSO MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 100,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED, THE CONTACT HEARD AN ABNORMAL RUMBLING NOISE FOR FIVE MINUTES. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, AN ABNORMAL KNOCKING NOISE WAS HEARD. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED DURING THE FAILURES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS OBSERVED THAT THERE WAS NO OIL IN THE VEHICLE; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE WAS NOT IDENTIFIED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.
STABILITRAK SERVICE LIGHT IS ON AND ABS LIGHT IS ON
I BOUGHT THE CAR 2 YEARS AGO, IN WHICH THE VEHICLE HAD/HAS NONCONFORMED ISSUES SINCE THE IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE SALE OF PURCHASE. THE CAR HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP (AND IS CURRENTLY THERE) FOR 2 YEARS. I HAVE BEEN PAYING FOR MY OWN TRANSPORTATION(LYFT, CAR RENTALS, ETC) IN ADDITION TO MY CAR PAYMENTS FOR OVER A YEAR.
BEGINNING AROUND 30,000 MILES I BEGAN EXPERIENCING A CLUNKING SOUND AND JERKING WHEN THE TRANSMISSION WOULD SHIFT FROM 2ND TO 3RD GEAR. I TOOK IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP MULTIPLE TIMES AND WAS TOLD THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS BECAUSE I WAS ALWAYS DRIVING IN ECO MODE. EVEN OUT OF ECO MODE I STILL EXPERIENCED THE CLUNK/JERK. ONCE THE WARRANTY RAN OUT I WAS UNABLE TO TAKE IT IN AND PAY THE DIAGNOSTIC FEE TO BE TOLD NOTHING WAS WRONG. RECENTLY I NOTICED MORE SLIPPING ESPECIALLY WHEN ACCELERATING TO ENTER TRAFFIC ON BUSY INTERSTATE CAUSING HESITATION AND DANGER WHEN TRYING TO MERGE AT HIGH SPEEDS. AFTER GETTING OFF THE HIGHWAY AND CRAWLING HOME, I PARKED THE VEHICLE WITHOUT INCIDENT. AFTER PARKING UPON TRYING TO SHIFT INTO GEAR IT REFUSED TO SHIFT AT ALL. TOWED TO LOCAL MECHANIC AND WAS TOLD THE TRANSMISSION WAS OUT, HAD TOWED TO GM DEALERSHIP. BATTLING GM NOW TRYING TO GET ASSISTANCE WITH REPLACEMENT SINCE THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE AND IT WAS ACTING UP BEFORE WARRANTY EXPIRED. GM SHOULD BE ASHAMED FOR NOT FIXING THIS COMMON PROBLEM
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE ENGINE STARTED TO HESITATE. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER IN A PARKING LOT TO CHECK THE OIL, AND NOTICED THERE WAS NO OIL IN THE RESERVOIR. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THREE QUARTS OF OIL WERE ADDED TO THE VEHICLE ONE MONTH BEFORE. THE CONTACT HAD EXPERIENCED THE OIL CONSUMPTION ISSUE FOR APPROXIMATELY A YEAR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (DUTEAU CHEVROLET IN LINCOLN, NEBRASKA) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE WARRANTY WAS EXTENDED BY THE MANUFACTURER HOWEVER, THE VIN DID NOT QUALIFY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 101,391.
I HAVE ISSUES WITH MY WINDSHIELD WIPERS HAVING DISCONNECTED LEAVING MY WIPERS TO NOT BE USABLE. THIS HAPPENED DRIVING HOME FROM WORK IN A DOWNPOUR - ALMOST GETTING INTO AN ACCIDENT. ALSO IT HAPPEN WITH MY HUSBAND AND 2 SMALL CHILDREN IN MY CAR AGAIN IN THE RAIN. I FEAR FOR THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY DUE TO THE WIPERS BECOMING INOPERATIVE AT THE TIME THEY ARE NEEDED MOST. I HAVE SEEN MULTIPLE CHEVY EQUINOX (UNSURE OF THE YEAR OF THESE) THAT HAVE HAD THIS HAPPENED, PULLED OVER ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WITH THEIR WIPERS STUCK UP ON THE WINDSHIELD. I HAVE ALSO READ MANY FORUMS ONLINE ABOUT THIS. I SEEN A RECALL IN CANADA FOR THE EQUINOX 2010-2017 BUT THIS ISN'T COVERED IN THE US AS I HAVE CALLED THE DEALERSHIP ABOUT THIS.
WHILE DRIVING IN HEAVY RAIN ON THE HIGHWAY AT 55 MPH THE WIPERS SUDDENLY JERKED LEFT AND STOPPED WORKING. ONE WIPER WAS OFF THE DRIVER SIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD AND THE OTHER WAS STOPPED IN FRONT OF MY FACE. VERY DANGEROUS BECAUSE NOT ONLY WAS THERE RAIN POURING DOWN, THERE WAS A WIPER RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME BLOCKING MY VIEW. I WAS ABLE TO GET OFF THE ROAD AND MOVE THE WIPERS TO THEIR NORMAL OFF POSITION BUT THEY NO LONGER FUNCTIONED. A NEW WIPER TRANSMISSION WAS REQUIRED. THE US RECALL FOR 2013 ONLY NEEDS TO BE EXPANDED TO MATCH THE RECALL IN CANADA. DEFINITELY A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE!
Visibility: Defroster/Defogger 2009-12-18 Recall#09V489000 Software computer module Center console will malfunction causing the radio, heater, radio, a/c and defroster to quick working. Putting the vehicle to be a safety hazard when not working, can result in crash without warning. Dealer refuses to fix.
THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS FAILED. I TOOK THE CAR TO A CHEVY DEALERSHIP WHO IMMEDIATELY IDENTIFIED THE PROBLEM AS ARISING FROM A KEY PART IN THE WIPERS BEING MADE OF PLASTIC INSTEAD OF THE PREVIOUSLY USED METAL AND THIS WEARING OUT. HE SAID THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM AND THAT A RECALL WAS LIKELY BUT THAT CHEVY WAS DRAGGING THEIR FEED. I UNDERSTAND THEY HAVE ISSUED THE RECALL IN CANADA. THE WIPERS FAILED WITHOUT WARNING DURING A MAJOR RAIN STORM, CREATING A VERY REAL SAFETY HAZARD AS I DROVE WITH YOUNG CHILDREN IN THE CAR.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER OR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 95,000.
I HAVE A 2010 CHEVROLET EQUINOX AND ON JULY 21ST, 2017 IT WOULD NOT GO INTO REVERSE. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH ONLINE I'VE SEEN THAT MANY OTHERS HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM THAT I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING. NO 3RD GEAR/NO REVERSE. IT SAYS IT HAS A WAVE PLATE THAT OFTEN BREAKS AND SHOOTS SHATTERED PIECES INTO THE TRANSMISSION, ALL WITHOUT ANY WARNING OR SUSPICION THAT ANYTHING COULD BE WRONG. I CALLED THE FINANCE COMPANY WHICH THEN L THEN LED ME TO GM CUSTOMER SERVICE TELLING ME THERE WERE NO RECALLS OR INFORMATION ABOUT ANYTHING. IT IS NOW OCTOBER 3RD, 2017 AND MY CAR HAS BEEN SITTING IN THE SAME PARKING SPACE (CANNOT REVERSE TO GET OUT OF PARKING SPOT) WITH A FULL TANK OF GAS. I URGE ANYONE WHO EXPERIENCES ANY PROBLEM TO REPORT IT. I NEED HELP AND I NEED IT ASAP!!!
THE TRANSMISSION SLIPS OUT OF GEAR IF THE CAR DOES NOT REACH 35 MPH WITHIN THE FIRST TWO STOPS THE CAR MAKES. WHEN INITIALLY PUTTING THE CAR IN DRIVE, THE CAR ROCKS BACK AND FORTH WHILE SHIFTING INTO GEAR.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TOWED TO A TRANSMISSION SPECIALIST WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION HAD MALFUNCTIONED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER OR MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 94,143. *LN
WE HAVE A 2010 CHEVROLET EQUINOX WITH 66000 ORIGINAL MILES ON IT AND THE TRANSMISSION HAS FAILED. WE WERE COMING HOME FROM A SHORT ROAD TRIP AND THE CAR STARTED TO ACT UP. WE COULDN'T GO OVER 25 MILES AN HOUR AS WE ONLY HAD 2ND GEAR. WE HAD NO REVERSE OR OTHER GEARS. WE PRAYED TO COULD LIMP IT HOME AND CALL THE TOW TRUCK TO COME AND GET IT. WE HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO THE DEALER AND HAD TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION WHICH COSTS US $4500 AND THE TRANSMISSION WAS NOT REPAIRABLE.
LET ME START OFF BY SAYING THAT I AM ONE OF MANY HAVING THE SAME TROUBLE WITH MY 2010 CHEVY EQUINOX. ON JAN. 21, 2015 I WAS HIT BY A YOUNG DRIVER TOTALING MY 2002 S10 CREW CAB. I FEEL THIS TRUCK SAVED MY LIFE. IN NEED OF A SAFE VEHICLE I FOUND MYSELF AT BOWMAN CHEVROLET PURCHASING A CERTIFIED 2010 CHEVY EQUINOX WITH LESS THAN 41000 MILES. AT THAT TIME I RECEIVED 24 MONTHS OF OIL CHANGES/ROUTINE MAINTENANCE PLUS ROAD SIDE ASSISTANCE AND BUMPER TO BUMPER FOR 12MONTHS. THIS VEHICLE SEEMED GREAT TILL MY FIRST OIL CHANGE AND MAINTENANCE. IN LESS THAN 3 MONTHS I TOOK IT IN FOR SERVICE THEY SAID IT COULDN'T BE SERVICED. I APPARENTLY BOUGHT A CANADIAN VEHICLE. CALLED BOWMAN ABOUT THE ISSUE AND WAS TOLD TO BRING IT BACK TO THEM ( OVER AN HR FROM HOME) AT THIS TIME I MENTIONED A FEW THINGS I FELT WERE ISSUES (MY CAR WOULD RUN ON AFTER SHUT OFF, WOULD ROLL BACKWARDS IN DRIVE AND SHIFTING WOULD PAUSE BETWEEN GEARS). ABOUT A MONTH LATER I GOT MY CAR BACK, NEW DASHBOARD WITH A FEW SCRATCHES AND A GOOD CHIP IN THE WINDSHIELD. WASN'T HAPPY BUT THEY SAID ALL WAS GOOD. UNTIL THE NEXT TIME I HAD TO TAKE IT IN, STILL HAVING RUN ONS WHEN I SHUT OFF THE CAR AND SHIFTING PROBLEMS ALONG WITH A FEW MINOR THINGS( I WAS TOLD WAS NOT COVERED BUT SHOULD HAVE BEEN STILL UNDER WHAT I WAS PROMISED BY THE 12 MONTHS BUMPER TO BUMPER) OVER THE NEXT 21 MONTHS OF MY WARRANTIES I CONTINUED TO HAVE MANY ISSUES WITH MY CAR. NEVER FULLY FIXED EACH TIME I TOOK IT IN AND BEING TOLD MANY TIMES THEY WONT DO THE RECALLS BECAUSE ITS ON A CANADIAN CAR NOT MY NOW AMERICAN CAR. ON JULY 13, 2017 DRIVING ON 96 IN CONSTRUCTION AND RUSH HR TRAFFIC WITH MY GRANDSON THE TRANSMISSION WAS LOSING GEARS AT ONE POINT THE CAR STOPPED ABRUPTLY. WE BARELY MADE IT HOME! DROVE IT TO DEALER NEXT MORNING ONLY HAD 1ST GEAR. APPARENTLY THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM. HELP US ALL!
EXHAUST MANIFOLD COVER ISSUE -THE CAR MADE A LOUD NOISE WHEN I START THE CAR. I TOOK IT TO AN AUTO REPAIR PLACE WHEN NOISE WAS UNBEARABLE AND FOUND THAT THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD COVER WAS CRACKED AND THAT WAS CAUSING TOXIC AIR PUSHED BACK INTO THE CAR WHEN I TURN ON A/C OR HEAT WHICH IS HAZARDOUS TO THE OCCUPANTS HEALTH. SO I NEEDED TO GET IT FIXED ASAP. I GOOGLED TO SEE IF THERE IS ANY RECALL OR WARRANTY EXTENSION ON THIS PART SO I CAN TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THERE WAS NO RECALL OR WARRANTY EXTENSION ON THIS PART. I RESEARCHED ONLINE AND CAME ACROSS COMPLAINS FROM OTHER CHEVY OWNERS REGARDING THIS ISSUE (COMPLAINS SEEN ONLINE). I CONTACTED CHEVY TO COMPLAIN ABOUT THIS ISSUE AS WELL AS SEE IF THEY WOULD REIMBURSE THE MONEY I SPENT ON THIS REPAIR (OVER $600) AND THEY TOLD ME I SHOULD HAVE TAKEN IT TO THEIR DEALERSHIP WHERE IN REALITY WOULD HAVE COST ME MORE THAN $1000 IF THERE IS NO RECALL OR WARRANTY EXTENSION ON THIS PART (THE CHEVY FOLKS ARE AWARE THAT THERE IS NO RECALL ON THIS PART). I BELIEVE THIS IS A HEALTH HAZARD FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE NOT AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AND DRIVE AROUND WITH A CRACKED EXHAUST MANIFOLD COVER BECAUSE THEY CANNOT AFFORD TO MAKE THAT EXPENSIVE REPAIR. I CONTACTED ANOTHER AUTO REPAIR PLACE AND THEY TOLD ME THE SAME THING ABOUT TOXIC GAS BEING PUMPED INTO THE CAR IF THAT COVER IS NOT FIXED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. WHILE DRIVING 5 MPH PULLING INTO A SERVICE STATION, THE VEHICLE STARTED TO JERK VIOLENTLY. THE CONTACT SHIFTED THE GEAR INTO PARK. WHEN SHE ATTEMPTED TO SHIFT THE GEAR INTO REVERSE, THE GEAR SHIFTER FAILED TO GO INTO REVERSE. THE ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED WITH FAILURE CODE: P0776. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC (FISHER TRANSMISSION) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE PISTON RING, SNAP RING, AND 3-5R WAVE PLATE WERE DETACHED WITH METAL SHELVING AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY. THE MANUFACTURER DID NOT OFFER FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 113,000. UPDATED 11/07/17*LJ *JS
AS WE WERE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET IN A TORRENTIAL RAIN STORM, MY WINDSHIELD WIPERS SUDDENLY STOPPED WORKING. I PULLED OVER TO A SIDE ROAD, TURNED THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON, AND THEY STILL DID NOT WORK. I PUSHED THE WINDSHIELD WIPER LEVER AND THEY WOULD NOT MOVE. I WAS ON VACATION AT THE TIME AND LUCKILY FOUND A CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP NEARBY. THEY DIAGNOSED THE CONDITION ALMOST IMMEDIATELY AS CORROSION TO THE FRONT WIPER TRANSMISSION. THE SERVICE ADVISOR SAID IT WAS EASY TO DIAGNOSE BECAUSE THEY HAVE SEEN THIS ISSUE HAPPEN ON MANY CHEVROLET EQUINOX CARS. HE LOOKED UP RECALL INFORMATION AND THIS EXACT PROBLEM IS CURRENTLY RECALLED ONLY ON A 2013 CHEVROLET EQUINOX (CHEVROLET RECALL REFERENCE #25302). SINCE I HAVE A 2010 EQUINOX, I HAD TO PAY FOR THIS REPAIR OUT OF POCKET FOR $240.80. THE DEALERSHIP SAID I WOULD HAVE A GOOD CASE TRYING TO GET REIMBURSED FOR THIS, SINCE IT IS AN EXACT PROBLEM HE HAS SEEN MANY TIMES AND IS CURRENTLY ON A RECALL FOR A DIFFERENT YEAR EQUINOX. I JUST CALLED CHEVROLET'S RECALL DEPARTMENT, AND THEY SAID THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO, BECAUSE THEY CAN ONLY APPROVE REIMBURSEMENT FOR ACTIVE RECALLS, WHICH IS BASED ON THE VEHICLE'S VIN NUMBER. IF AND WHEN A RECALL FOR A 2010 EQUINOX HAPPENS, THEN I WOULD BE ELIGIBLE FOR REIMBURSEMENT. I AM FILLING OUT THIS REPORT, BECAUSE YOU NEED TO KNOW THIS IS THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM THAT IS CURRENTLY RECALLED ON A 2013 CHEVY EQUINOX, AND DESERVES TO BE LOOKED INTO FOR THE 2010 EQUINOX AS WELL.
EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION. GM HAS ISSUED SERVICE BULLETINS AND EXTENDED THE COVERAGE OUT TO 120,000 MILES, DEALER KEEPS REQUIRING OIL CONSUMPTION TESTS AND VALIDATED IT WAS OUTSIDE OF SPECIFICATIONS AND STILL NOT FIXING ISSUE CLAIMING "GM" IS THE ONE REQUIRING THE TESTING
ONCE VEHICLE REACHES 25 MPH THE STABILITY CONTROL TURNS OFF AND SIMULTANEOUSLY THE ABS TURNS OFF AND AWD TURNS OFF ASS WELL
CAME OUT OF THE GROCERY STORE ABOUT 9PM ON 6-28-17, AND THE CAR WON'T START. HAD IT TOWED TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO EVALUATED THAT THE TIMING CHAIN ON THE ECOTEC ENGINE HAS BASICALLY MISALIIGNED AND SHREDDED PARTS IN IT'S PATH, DESTROYING THE ENGINE. I HAVE DONE SOME RESEARCH ONLINE AND SEE MANY COMPLAINTS OF THIS HAPPENING AND THIS VIDEO LINK: HTTPS://WWW.YOUTUBE.COM/WATCH?V=AEEUYUNUHGS I CHATTED ONLINE WITH CHEVROLET CUSTOMER SERVICE WHO SAYS THAT THEY CANNOT DO ANYTHING SINCE I HAD NOT BOUGHT THE CAR "CERTIFIED" AT A GM DEALERSHIP. THE ESTIMATE FOR THESE REPAIRS IS VALUED AT MORE THAN HALF OF WHAT THE CAR IS FINANCED FOR. I'M FEELING LIKE I HAVE A GIANT PIECE OF JUNK ON MY HANDS. LUCKILY IT DIDN'T SEIZE UP WHILE DRIVING. SO FAR MY OUT OF POCKET EXPENSE INCLUES $93.00 FOR THE DIAGNOSIS AND AN ADDITIONAL $44.00 TO HAVE IT TOWED TO THE DEALER'S MECHANIC FOR THEM TO DO AN EVALUATION 7-5-17. PROBABLY LOOKING AT $5,000 TO $7,000 OF DOLLARS TO REPAIR AND GET BACK ON THE ROAD. CERTAINLY CAN'T AFFORD THAT. IT PRACTICALLY ADDS UP TO BE THE PRICE OF BUYING A NEW ONE.
BUSHINGS FOR WIPER ASSEMBLY WENT BAD. THEY WENT OUT WHEN DRIVING ON A RURAL ROAD. SEEMS LIKE A PART LIKE THAT WOULD LAST LONGER THAN 7 YEARS. NOW I'M FINDING THAT YOU CAN'T BUY THE BUSHINGS. ONLY BUY THE WHOLE ASSEMBLY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. WHILE DRIVING AT A LOW SPEED IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED; HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESPOND. AFTER APPROXIMATELY TWO SECONDS, THE TRANSMISSION ENGAGED AND THE VEHICLE SLAMMED INTO GEAR. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE OFF OF THE ROADWAY SAFELY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT VEHICLE WAS CYCLED OFF AND BACK ON AND IT OPERATED NORMALLY MOMENTARILY; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. ALSO, WHILE ATTEMPTING TO TRAVERSE A HILL, THE TRANSMISSION BECAME INOPERABLE AND CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO ROLL BACKWARDS. "TAKATA RECALL" WHILE DRIVING AND APPROACHING A STOP SIGN ON A CITY STREET IN TOWN, THE CAR STARTED AGGRESSIVELY SHAKING AND SEVERAL LIGHTS TURNED ON - SERVICE STABILITRACK, ENGINE POWER REDUCED MODE AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT- THANKFULLY WE WERE ABLE TO SAFELY PULL OFF THE ROAD AS THE CAR WOULD NOT EXCEED 25MPH. AFTER THE FIRST TIME WE TOOK IT IN AND THEY FLUSHED THE THROTTLE BODY. LESS THAN 2 MOTHS LATER THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING IN TOWN. TOOK IT BACK IN AND THEY COMPLETELY REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY. HERE WE ARE A FEW MONTHS LATER AND NOW THE CAR WILL NOT EVEN START WITH THE SAME ICONS APPEARING ON THE DASH! IF THIS WERE TO HAPPEN ON THE FREEWAY AT 65 MPH AND IT KICK ME DOWN TO 25 MPH THAT IS A SERIOUS ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN.
I HAVE A 2010 CHEVY EQUINOX AND I JUST GOT IT OUT OF THE SHOP FOR THE 2ND TIME IN 3 WEEKS WITHIN THAT TIME IT BURNED THROUGH ALL THE OIL THAT WAS IN THE ENGINE FROM A BRAND NEW OIL CHANGE. WE HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH EXTREMELY HIGH OIL CONSUMPTION. WE HAD THE PISTONS & RINGS REPLACED A COUPLE YEARS AGO BUT IT DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM AT ALL. WE REGULARLY CHANGE OUR OIL BUT AT THIS RATE WE NEED TO PUT OIL IN IT WEEKLY. THE MECHANIC TOLD US THAT OUR ENGINE IS ABOUT TO GO OUT BECAUSE OF BURNING OF THE OIL SO FAST. THIS NEEDS TO BE RECALLED AND NOW. CHANGING JUST THE PISTONS AND RINGS WILL NOT FIX IT. CHEVROLET OWES THIS YEAR OF EQUINOX A NEW, SOLID ENGINE THAT DOESNT EXCESSIVELY BURN OIL AT AN ALARMING RATE. WE HAVE BEEN SET UP TO FAIL BY FINANCING THIS VEHICLE.

I STARTED TO DRIVE TO A MEETING DURING EVENING RUSH HOUR AND THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE WHEN I STEPPED ON THE GAS PEDAL. HEARD THE ENGINE REV, BUT THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT TO THE DEALER IN MANUAL MODE AT A SLOW SPEED. THE DEALER SAID THEY WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE, WHICH IS INSIDE THE TRANSMISSION, TO FIND OUT IF THERE IS MECHANICAL FAILURE. AFTER REPLACING THE CONTROL MODULE, THEY SAID THAT THE CAR STILL WOULD NOT MOVE, AND THAT THEY WOULD HAVE TO TAKE THE TRANSMISSION APART. COST TO REPLACE THREE PISTONS AND FORWARD CLUTCH FRICTION PLATES WOULD BE $3844 PLUS TAX. THE CAR IS A 2010 CHEVY EQUINOX LT AWD WITH 89000 PLUS MILES. REGULAR DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AND CITY ROADS IN FLORIDA. I CALLED CHEVY CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY DECLINED TO OFFER ANY COMPENSATION FOR THE TRANSMISSION STATING MY CAR WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. I HAVE FOUND SEVERAL ONLINE FORUMS WITH A LOT OF DISSATISFIED CONSUMERS HAVING THE SAME ISSUE WITH TRANSMISSION FAILURE. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND A KNOWN PROBLEM FOR MANY YEARS THAT HAS BEEN NEGLECTED BY CHEVY. IN MY OPINION THE TRANSMISSION FAILURE EXPERIENCED BY SO MANY CONSUMERS SHOULD WARRANT AN INVESTIGATION/RECALL BY NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRANSPORTATION SAFETY AUTHORITY.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 153,000.

JUST DRIVING HOME FROM HUNTSVILLE, AL AIRPORT TOOK OFF FROM STOP SIGN ON A MAIN ARTERY STREET IN THE CITY AND MY RPM GAUGE JUST CLIMBED LIKE CRAZY AND I WAS NOT MOVING VERY FAST SO I PULLED OFF MAIN ROAD. I CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP AND TRIED TAKING OFF AGAIN IT SEEMED LIKE IT WAS GOING TO BE O.K. SO I PULLED BACKED ONTO ROAD WHEN TRAFFIC CLEARED AND TRIED TO ACCELERATE AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN SO KNOW AT THIS POINT THE TRANSMISSION WAS SLIPPING PRETTY BAD WITHOUT ANY WARNING I LIMPED IT HOME AND CALLED DEALER HE THEY TOLD ME TO BRING IT IN AND THEY WOULD CHECK AND ADDVISE FOR $95.00 THEY SAID IT WASNT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY I HAD 85000 MILES ON IT. THEY DIAGNOSED THE TRANS HAD TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $4700.00 I COULD NOT AFFORD THAT SO I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO A LOCAL TRANS SHOP FOR REPAIRS. ENDS UP ITS A 6SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANS AND THE REPAIR SHOP HAD TO REPLACE THE 1/3/5 DRUM SOME KIND OF PLATE BROKE INSIDE THE HOUSING THE OWNER OF THE TRAN SHOP SAID IT A REAL PROBLEM GM HAD 2008/09/10 THEY HAVE AN UPDATED DRUM AND SNAP RING FOR REPAIRES. I FEEL LIKE CHEVROLET SHOULD BE RESPONSABLE AT LEAST FOR SOME OF REPAIR COST. THATS MY STORY.

I PULLED TO A SIDE STREET AND HIT 'ONSTAR'. THEY WERE ABLE TO GIVE ME TWO CODES THAT APPEARED. P0776 AND P0700. WHILE TALKING TO ONSTAR, MY CAR WAS IN PARK AND AGAIN THE ENGINE WAS PUSHING 7000 RPMS. I WAS BARELY ABLE TO MAKE IT TO MY HOUSE AS THE CAR WAS BARELY ABLE TO MAINTAIN IT'S SPEED. THE NEXT MORNING I WAS CURIOUS IF I WAS ABLE GET THE CAR OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY OR IF IT COULD MOVE IN A FORWARD MOTION. I WAS FORCED TO PUSH MY CAR OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY AS I COULD NOT GO IN REVERSE AT ALL AND AGAIN I NOTICED THAT THE CAR COULD BARELY MOVE FORWARD. AFTER HAVING MY CAR RETURNED FROM SPECIALIST IN TRANSMISSIONS, THEY GAVE ME PICTURES OF WHAT THEY FOUND. WHICH I INCLUDED FIVE WITH THE COMPLAINT. THE ISSUE AFTER TALKING TO THE DEALERSHIP IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM AND BY READING THOSE TWO CODES WERE ABLE TO INSTRUCT ME THE PARTS THAT BROKE INSIDE THE TRANSMISSION WITHOUT OPENING IT UP OR CHECKING THE TRANSMISSION FLUID.

I OWN A 2010 CHEVY EQUINOX. I WAS HAVING SOME ISSUES WITH MY STABILITRAK, ABS BREAKS AND MY ALL WHEEL DRIVE. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY HOOKED IT UP TO THE COMPUTER. THEY TOLD ME I NEEDED A NEW RIGHT FRONT HUB AND MY CATALYTIC CONVERTER REPLACED. SO I MADE AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER TAKEN CARE OF AS IT IS A PROBLEM CHEVY PAYS FOR. THE NEXT DAY I WAS DRIVING TO WORK AND I NOTICED MY CAR WASN'T SHIFTING. I STOPPED AND HAD A TOW TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY FIXED THE CONVERTER AND PUT A SPEED SENSOR IN MY TRANSMISSION BECAUSE MY CAR SIMPLY WOULDN'T MOVE. I PICKED UP MY CAR AFTER THEM HAVING IT FOR TWO WEEKS. THAT DAY I NOTICED IT WAS SHIFTING EXTREMELY HARD GOING FROM 3RD TO 4TH GEAR. I PURCHASED A NEW HUB AND A NEW WHEEL SPEED SENSOR AND HAD THEM INSTALLED. WHILE LEAVING THE GARAGE THAT INSTALLED THESE NEW PARTS I STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT. WHEN IT TURNED GREEN I PUSHED THE GAS PEDDLE AND MY CAR JUST SAT THERE AND REVVED. I TURNED OFF AND BACK ON AND WAS ABLE TO GET IT BACK TO THE GARAGE AND THERE IT SAT, REFUSING TO DO ANYTHING BUT REVV. SINCE THIS HAS STARTED I HAVE DONE SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND MANY COMPLAINTS OF THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM FOR THE SAME MAKE AND MODEL. IF THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITHIN THIS SPECIFIC TRANSMISSION I THINK IT NEEDS TO BE LOOKED INTO.
