The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 152,000.
AFTER REFUELING VEHICLE, I NOTICED A STRONG GAS ODOR THAT DID NOT GO AWAY FOR SEVERAL DAYS. I TOOK THE VEHICLE THE A CHEVY DEALER WHO IDENTIFIED THE PROBLEM AS A CRACKED FUEL TANK CONNECTOR, AS SHOWN IN THE ATTACHED PHOTO. APPARENTLY GM HAS RECOGNIZED THE ISSUE AND HAS SINCE REDESIGNED THE PART, AS SHOWN IN THE SECOND ATTACHED PHOTO. THIS VEHICLE HAS UNDER 80K MILES, HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT, NOR HAD ANY OTHER INCIDENT THAT WOULD HAVE CAUSED THE PART FAILURE. THE FAILURE APPEARS TO BE A STRESS CRACK DUE TO A DEFECTIVE, OVER-STRESSED, POORLY DESIGNED, OR POORLY ASSEMBLED PART. IN SHORT, THIS PART SHOULD NOT HAVE FAILED. FURTHERMORE, THE FAILURE REPRESENTS A DANGEROUS SITUATION, DUE TO THE FUEL LEAK THAT OCCURRED. THE REPAIR WAS ON THE ORDER OF $1500, BECAUSE THE DEALER INDICATED THAT BOTH THE GAS TANK AND FILLER NECK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THIS IS A SUBSTANTIAL REPAIR FOR A RELATIVELY LOW-MILEAGE VEHICLE.
GAS IN MY OIL CAUSED BY A FAULTY FUEL PUMP. THIS IS CAUSING MY VEHICLE TO RUN POORLY AND CONTINUE TO RUN AFTER THE KEY IS REMOVED. THIS EFFECTS THE VEHICLE WHEN RUNNING PARKED OR RUNNING IN ALL GEAR POSITIONS.
TAKATA RECALL: MY CARS ENGINE IS RUNNING EXTREMELY ROUGH, IT'S IDLING VERY "BUMPY" AND SEEMS TO SPUTTER, STALLING OUT (WHILE DRIVING OR STOPPED) AND CONTINUING TO RUN A FEW SECONDS AFTER I TURN IT OFF AND THE CHECK ENGINE KEEPS COMING ON AND GOING OFF. WHEN I TOOK IT IN TO SEE WHAT WAS GOING ON WITH IT, THE TECH EXPLAINED THAT MY HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP IS WHAT IS CAUSING ALL THE ISSUES. I WAS TALKING TO A FRIEND ABOUT IT AND SHE SENT ME A LINK SHOWING ME THAT A RECALL WAS DONE ON MY MAKE AND MODEL SO I CALLED MY LOCAL CHEVY DEALERSHIP AND THEY SHOW NOTHING FOR MY VIN. UPON CALLING THE ACTUAL CHEVY NUMBER LISTED ON THE SITE WHERE WE SAW THE RECALL THEY EXPLAINED THAT EVEN THOUGH MY CAR IS HAVING THE SAME ISSUES FOR THE PART BEING RECALLED, MY VIN IS NOT INCLUDED AND THAT I WILL HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET. THIS IS EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING! AFTER FINDING THIS WEBSITE I STARTED READING COMPLAINTS AND THE SAME THING IS HAPPENING TO ANOTHER PERSON WITH THE SAME VEHICLE. I UNDERSTAND THAT THESE CARS ARE MADE IN DIFFERENT LOCATIONS AND THE PARTS IN THOSE LOCATIONS MAY BE MADE DIFFERENTLY THEN THE PARTS IN OTHERS BUT IF WE ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUES, I WOULD THINK THAT ANOTHER INVESTIGATION NEEDS TO BE OPENED AND ANOTHER RECALL NEEDS TO BE ISSUED INCLUDING ALL VIN'S FOR THIS MAKE AND MODEL. IF THIS HAS TO BE PAID OUT OF POCKET A LITTLE HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED TOO. THIS IS AN EXPENSIVE FIX.
EXHAUST LEAK BETWEEN THE MANIFOLD AND CATALYTIC CONVERTER WITH ONLY 57,000 MILES. DANGEROUS ODOR AND POTENTIAL CARBON MONOXIDE EXPOSURE. THERE WAS NO INCIDENT THAT COULD HAVE CAUSED THIS PROBLEM. MECHANIC STATES THAT PROBLEM HAS BEEN COMMON AMONG GM SUVS THIS PAST YEAR.

WHILE TURNING LEFT ON A MAJOR INTERSECTION THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND STABILITAC LIGHT WITH A WARNING OF REDUCED ENGINE POWER CAME ON. THE CAR COULD ONLY GO 5 MPH WHICH WAS CAUSED ME TO SLOWLY GO THROUGH THE INTERSECTION. TWO ON COMING CARS HAD TO SLAM ON THEIR BREAKS TO AVOID ME. THE DEALER FOUND A DEFECTIVE THROTTLE BODY. THEY SAID THE CAR IS PROGRAM TO GO INTO REDUCED ENGINE POWER MODE WHEN THE COMPUTER DETECTS THIS ISSUE. THE SAFETY ISSUE IS THIS COME ON WITH OUT WARNING, IN THE MIDDLE OF INTERSECTIONS. SEARCH THE WEB AND YOU WILL FIND THAT MANY WITH THIS TYPE OF CAR FROM GM ARE HAVING THIS ISSUE. I THINK THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL FOR THE DEFECTIVE THROTTLE BODY FOR THOSE NOT REPLACED YET AND A REIMBURSEMENT FOR THOSE ALREADY PAID. THE VEHICLE SLOWED TO 20 MPH AND THEN STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS MERGED TO THE SHOULDER AND WAS RESTARTED AFTER FIFTEEN MINUTES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION WHO STATED THAT THE FUEL PUMP AND THROTTLE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND THE CONTACT WAS AWAITING A RETURN CALL. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 82,000.

WE PURCHASED A 2010 CHEVY EQUINOX AUG. 20, 2009 AND FAILED TO CHECK WHERE THE FUEL FILL DOOR WAS LOCATED. IT IS ON THE RIGHTHAND SIDE OF THE VEHICLE WHICH IS THE WRONG SIDE. IT CREATES A SAFETY HAZARD WHEN GETTING FUEL. ( GETTING OUT INTO STATION TRAFFIC, WALKING BETWEEN CARS AND BEING A LONGER DISTANCE FROM THE DRIVERS DOOR WHEN MOST PEOPLE LEAVE THEIR KEYS IN THE CAR WHEN FUELING. THE VEHICLES DARTS QUICKLY WHEN TRAVELING WHICH IS NOTICEABLE IN THE BACK SEAT. (MAY BE CAUSED BY VEHICLE STABILITY SYSTEM) THE FRONT DOORS ARE LOCATED SO THAT I BUMP MY HEAD (HAVE CUT MY HEAD) UNLESS THE SEAT IS BACK AS FAR AS POSSIBLE. GM HAS NO RETROFIT TO MOVE FUEL FILL DOOR OR UNIT TO PUT SEATS BACK TO GIVE MORE HEAD ROOM. *TR
