I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK ON HWY 35 OUTSIDE OF DRESSER, WI AND THE CAR DASH LIGHTS SUDDENLY LIT UP AND THE CAR MADE A LOUD RATTLE AND SMELLED LIKE BURNING OIL. THERE WAS NO WARNING. I WAS 2 MILES FROM HOME SO I CAME STRAIGHT HOME. WE CHECKED THE OIL AND ADDED 3 QUARTS OF OIL BEFORE TAKING IT APROXIMATELY 2 MILES TO OUR MECHANIC. THEY CHECKED THE ENGINE AND CONFIRMED THE RATTLE WAS DEEP IN THE MOTOR AND THE MOTOR HAD BLOWN. AFTER INSPECTION, THEY FOUND THAT A SMALL PORT IN THE INTAKE MANIFOLD WAS CLOGGED. THIS CAUSED A PRESSURE BUILD UP AND THE REAR SEAL TO BLOW. WE WERE ALSO THEN TOLD THEY HAD BEEN SEEING A LOT OF THIS PROBLEM IN CHEVY EQUINOX MODELS. WE HAD TO REPLACE THE MOTOR FOR A TOTAL COST OF $5750.51.
CAR SHUTS OFF ON ITS OWN, I RECENTLY TOOK IT TO GET IT DIAGNOSED AND DIDN'T SHOW ANYTHING WAS WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. NO ENGINE LIGHT IS ON, NOTHING SEEMS OUT OF THE ORDINARY, JUST THAT ITS STARTING TO SHUT OFF ON ITS OWN OUT OF NO WHERE AND LOOSES POWER. I WILL BE AT A STOP LIGHT AND I WOULD ACCELERATE BUT AS I ACCELERATE THE CAR SHUTS OFF. ALSO, ITS HAPPED ON THE FREEWAY DURING TRAFFIC TIMES, WHEN ITS HEAVY IN TRAFFIC AND REQUIRES ME TO STOP FOR A WHILE AND THEN ACCELERATE IT EITHER LOOSES POWER OR SHUTS OFF.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. WHILE DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS APPLIED; HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE FUEL PUMP, CAMSHAFT, AND BATTERY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE LOCAL DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
PULLED ONTO A MAIN HIGHWAY, TRAVELING AT TRAFFIC SPEED WHEN TRANSMISSION FAILURE LEFT US IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. HAD TO BE PUSHED OFF THE HIGHWAY, AND THEN TOWED TO A GARAGE, WHERE TOLD TRANSMISSION FAILURE IS COMMON WITH THESE CARS. REPAIR COST OF 4100$
I JUST RECENTLY BOUGHT A 2011 CHEVY EQUINOX LT AWD, AND SOON AFTER I BEGAN DRIVING IT, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WITH CODE P0420 CATALYST SYSTEM EFFICIENCY BELOW THRESHOLD. CHEVY HAD ISSUED SPECIAL COVERAGE ADJUSTMENT 15810 IN AUGUST 2016 WITH REGARD TO THE CATALYST SYSTEM, BUT THE MILEAGE WAS OVER THE COVERAGE LIMIT OF 120,000 WHEN THE SCA WAS ISSUED, AND CHEVY WON'T COVER THE ISSUE NOW.
RATTLE AND NOISE IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE OF VEHICLE AS SOON AS VEHICLE IS TURNED ON AND WHILE IN MOTION, MAKING WEIRD NOISES AND MOVEMENTS WHILE DRIVING, OCCASIONAL HARD SHIFT, BACK REAR DRIVERS TIRE LOSING PRESSURE FOR NO REASON, PULLING CODE FOR P0420, DID A GOOGLE SEARCH AND SEEN MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS FOR THE SAME ISSUES ON THE SAME YEAR, MAKE, AND MODEL BUT NO RECALL ON MY VIN OR HISTORY OF RECALL, WHILE OTHERS SAID DEALERS HAD SAID IT WAS DUE TO A RECALL. JUST BOUGHT FROM BAXTER DEALERSHIP IN BELLEVUE, NE TWO WEEKS AGO.
AT RED LIGHT,MY CAR CUT OUT. WOULDN'T TURN OVER. HAD IT TOWED AND MY MECHANIC SAID IT WAS TIMING CHAINS, WHICH AFFECTED ENGINE. CHECKED 8 OF 16 VALVES THAT WERE BENT, ALONG W/8 ROCKER ARMS CRACKED AND TORN OFF. $4000 TO FIX THIS ISSUE, MONEY I DO NOT HAVE. MECHANIC SAID GM KNOWS ABOUT THESE ISSUES AND REFUSES TO DO A RECALL ON THIS ISSUE THAT HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR TEN PLUS YEARS.
WINDSHIELD WIPERS STOPPED WORKING DURING DOWNPOUR WHEN DRIVING DOWN HIGHWAY. MOTOR STILL WORK BUT WIPERS NOT MOVING.
A FEW DAYS AGO AFTER WORK I STOPPED FOR GAS AND TOOK A DIFFERENT ROUTE HOME. I LIVE IN A CITY WITH TRAFFIC SO I IDLE A LOT. WHILE STOPPED, MY 'SERVICE STABILITRAK' AND 'ENGINE POWER REDUCED' CAME ON. THERE WAS NO WHERE I COULD GO BUT UP THE EXPRESSWAY. ONCE I SPED UP, THE CAR PROCEEDED TO TURN OFF. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER ONTO THE SHOULDER ON TOP OF THE EXPRESSWAY. AFTER THAT, THE CAR WOULDN'T TURN ON ANYMORE. AFTER ABOUT 30 MINUTES, EVERYTHING STARTED FLICKERING AND THEN IT HAD NO ELECTRICITY RUNNING AT ALL. NOT EVEN MY EMERGENCY LIGHTS. THIS WAS REALLY SCARY BECAUSE PPL ARE DRIVING REALLY FAST NEXT TO ME AND AND IT WAS ALREADY NIGHT TIME. I FINALLY GOT HELP AND HAD IT TOWED THE NEXT MORNING. THE KEY WAS STUCK IN THE IGNITION BUT STILL NO SIGN OF LIFE UNTIL AFTER IT WAS TOWED. I CAN'T AFFORD TO TAKE IT IN JUST YET BUT I AM EXTREMELY SCARED TO DRIVE IT AS I AM A SINGLE PARENT WITH NO FAMILY IN THIS NEW CITY.
I STARTED HAVING ISSUES AFTER A COUPLE MONTHS OF BUYING MY VEHICLE. MY RPM WOULD SPUTTER AND I WOULD ALWAYS CHECK MY OIL AND IT WOULD BE A QUART LOW. THIS WENT ON FOR MONTHS AND I CONTINUED TO DRAIN MONEY INTO MY VEHICLE WITH BUYING OIL. I REPLACED SEALS THINKING IT WAS A OIL LEAK AND IT WASN'T IT. MY ENGINE FINALLY WAS JUST SHOT SO NOW I'M OUT OF A CAR AND OWE MONEY ON IT STILL AND DON'T HAVE THE MONEY TO REPAIR MY VEHICLE. I AM VERY UPSET WITH THIS MODEL OF VEHICLE BC I DID RESEARCH ON IT AND A LOT OF COMPLIANTS ON THIS CAR BURNING OIL. CRAZY THAT NO ONE IS DOING ANYTHING TO FIX THE ISSUE. I GUESS CHEVY IS CRAP NOW AND JUST WANT TO LOOSE CUSTOMERS. I WON'T BE BUYING A CHEVY AGAIN AND WILL NOT RECOMMEND
WHILE ACCELERATING ON FRWY RAMP, SUDDEN CATASTROPHIC TRANSMISSION FAILURE, I GOT TO THE SHOULDER, HAD THE CAR TOWED TO MY REGULAR REPAIR GARAGE, HE HAD SEEN THIS BEFORE, A PLATE INSIDE THE TRANSMISSION SHATTERS WITH NO WARNING, HAD CAR TOWED TO TRANSMISSION SHOP, THEY DIAGNOSED THE SAME THING, SAID THEY HAVE REPAIRED 4 TO 5 EVERY YEAR AND IT'S A FLAW WITH THESE TRANSMISSIONS. THEY COMPLETELY REBUILT THE TRANSMISSION AND SHOWED ME THE BROKEN PARTS. COST WAS $3400.00. CALLED THE CHEVY DEALER FOR REIMBURSEMENT AND THEY DENY ANY DESIGN OR MANUFACTURING DEFECTS AND REFUSED TO DO ANYTHING. I THINK YOU SHOULD INVESTIGATE THESE TRANSMISSIONS FOR EARLY FAILURES DUE TO A DESIGN OR MANUFACTURING DEFECT AND MAKE CHEVY EXTEND THE WARRANTIES ON THEM. MY CAR HAD ONLY 52000 MILES ON IT AND SHOULD NOT HAVE THIS FAILURE. I WAS LUCKY TO GET TO THOSE SHOULDER SAFELY. IF I CAN PROVIDE ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION, PLEASE CONTACT ME. I WAS DRIVING ON THE ROAD AT ABOUT 55MPH AND MY WINDSHIELD WIPERS COMPLETELY STOPPED WORKING. THEY GOT STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE WINDSHIELD AND THE MOTOR MADE SOUNDS AS IF IT WAS WORKING BUT THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS DID NOT MOVE. IT WAS RAINING AND WE HAD TO PULL OVER BECAUSE IT WAS VERY DANGEROUS.
THE VEHICLE WAS LOUDING WHILE RUNNING, I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL TRUSTED MECHANIC. UPON INSPECTION HE DETERMINED THAT THE MANIFOLD HAD A LARGE CRACK IN IT CAUSING EXCESSIVE FUEL CONSUMPTION AND THE ENGINE BEING LOUD. IN DISCUSSING THE ISSUE WITH THE MECHANIC HE ADVISED ME THAT HE FIXED THE SAME EXACT ISSUE, CRACKED MANIFOLD, WITH ANOTHER CUSTOMERS VEHICLE (SAME MAKE AND MODEL 1 YEAR NEWER). I CALLED CHEVROLET'S CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND THEY BASICALLY SAID THEY ARE NOT AWARE OF ANY ISSUE WITH THE MANIFOLD.
AFTER HAVING FAILING O2 SENSORS AND CATALYTIC CONVERTER REPLACED (UNDER WARRANTY), NOW THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD IS CRACKED AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED (NOT UNDER WARRANTY). THE O2 SENSORS AND CATALYTIC CONVERTER ARE ATTACHED TO THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD - COULD THEIR FAILURES BE WHY THERE IS A CRACK IN THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD!?!? MY VEHICLE WAS MAKING A VERY LOUD CLATTERING SOUND WHEN STARTING THAT WOULD GO AWAY AFTER A FEW MINUTES. I TOOK IT INTO THE CHEVY DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT, THEY SAY THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD IS CRACKED, AND EXHAUST IS LEAKING OUT. AT TIMES I COULD SMELL EXHAUST FROM THE INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. ONLY 110,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE.
MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN IDLING ROUGH SINCE I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE ON 9/6/19. THE VEHICLE ALMOST FEELS AS IF I AM CONTINUALLY TAPPING MY BREAKS ALTHOUGH MY FOOT IS ON THE BREAK AND ON 10/12/19 MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURNED ON SO I HAD THE CODES RAN AT AUTOZONE WHICH STATED TO REPLACE THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER. 2 DAYS PRIOR MY MOTHER WHO PURCHASED A 2013 EQUINOX HAD HER CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COME ON FOR THE SAME ISSUE AFTER JUST PURCHASING HER CAR 2 WEEKS AFTER ME.
TOOK VEHICLE TO REPAIR SHOP FOR CODEP0420. REPLACED CATALYTIC CONVERTER. CAR IS 2011 WITH 98 PLUS THOUSDAND MILES. FOUND OUT THAT THIS IS COVERED UNDER REVISED 15810-03. SINCE IT WAS NOT DONE AT A DEALER, I AM UNABLE TO RECOVER THE COSTS. IF THIS REVISION WAS DONEJULY 2018, HOW CAN GM ONLY ALLOW FOR VEHICLES REPAIRED PRIOR TO AUGUST 31ST, 2017 BE ALLOWED REIMBURSMENT? PLEASE ADVISE.
I WAS DRIVING TO WORK THIS MORNING WHEN I WENT OVER TRAIN TRACKS. AS SOON AS I DID MY "STBILITRAK" LIGHT CAME ON. ALL WHEEL DRIVE TURNED OFF AS WELL AS ABS. MY CAR WOULD NO LONGER ACCELERATE. I TRIED TO BREAK AND NEARLY LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. I'M UPSET WITH MY VEHICLE. I HAVE HAD SO MANY PROBLEMS WITH IT. I HAVE ALWAYS OWNED A CHEVY, BUT I THINK THEY QUALITY IN WORK IS DECREASING. I WILL BE THINKING ABOUT WHAT KIND OF CAR I WILL GET NEXT. I PREFER CHEVY SINCE IT'S ALL OUR FAMILY HAS EVERY BOUGHT, HOWEVER I'M SICK OF HAVING UNEXPECTED PROBLEMS WITH IT.
FUEL PUMP/ LOW FUEL ISSUES FUEL PUMP FAILING, WHICH IN PART LEAKS FUEL INTO THE ENGINE. RUNNING ERROR CODES. LOW ENGINE POWER LIGHT DISPLAYED ON DASH FOLLOWED BY REDUCE POWER. DEALERSHIP ADVISES IT'S A 900 CHARGE. CERTAIN 2011 EQUINOX MODELS FALL UNDER THE PRODUCT EMISSION RECALL 43180 HIGH PRESSURE FUEL RECALL. HOWEVER I AM BEING ADVISED MINE DOES NOT ALTHOUGH ISSUE APPEARS TO BE CONSISTENT WITH RECALL AT FIRST GLANCE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. WHEN THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE THE VEHICLE, IT FELT AS IF THE VEHICLE WERE SLIPPING. THE CONTACT PARKED AND NOTICED TRANSMISSION OIL UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT CALLED A CERTIFIED MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS A LEAK COMING FROM THE TRANSFER CASE, WHICH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS RELATED TO MANUFACTURER COMMUNICATION NUMBER: 10043933 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING, POWER TRAIN). THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 86,870.
TRIED TO BLUETOOTH MY MEDIA, AND THE MENU BUTTON WON'T WORK WITH THE AUX JACK OUT. JUST TRIED TO DO IT TODAY.
OIL CONSUMPTION HIGH, METAL PARTICLES IN OIL, CV AXEL JOINT BAD
I WAS DRIVING MY 2011 CHEVROLET EQUINOX HOME ON WEDS SEPTEMBER 11, 2019 IN A TORRENTIAL DOWNPOUR ON THE 696 FREEWAY IN METRO DETROIT. I WAS GOING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, SLOWER THEN THE SPEED LIMIT BECAUSE OF THE DOWNPOUR, AND I HAD MY WINDSHIELD WIPERS ON THE FASTEST SPEED. WITHOUT ANY TYPE OF WARNING MY WINDSHIELD WIPERS STOPPED WORKING. THE DRIVER'S WIPER HAD MOVED PAST THE WINDSHIELD SO AT FIRST I THOUGHT THAT WAS THE CULPRIT. I PUSHED THE WIPER BACK ONTO THE WINDSHIELD (WHILE DRIVING), BUT THE WIPERS REMAINED STATIONARY AND NO LONGER OPERATED. STILL ON THE HIGHWAY IN THE DOWNPOUR I HAD TO MANEUVER OFF THE NEAREST EXIT, SURPRISINGLY WITHOUT INCIDENT, AND PARKED IN A SUBDIVISION UNTIL THE RAIN STOPPED. THE WIPER TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY WAS REPLACED.
IT ONLY HAD 42000 MILES ON IT AND EVEN BEFORE IT SOUNDED FUNNY. WE HAD IT HOOKED TO DIAGNOSTIC AND IT SAID THE INTAKE AND EXHAUST CAM SHAFT ACTUATOR SOLENOIDS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED OR FAULTY. GOOGLE IT ONLINE IT COMES UP AS A RECALL FOR MY YEAR OF 2011 CHEVY EQUINIX. BUT WHEN I TOLD THEM AT CHEVY SERVICE CENTER THEY WERE ADDIMENT THAT ONLY CERTAIN VINS AND THATS WHAT THEY GO BY. BUT I TOLD THEM HOW WOULD YOU KNOW WHICH ONES ARE AFFECTED IF YOUR NOT TOLD BY CONSUMERS. ONLINE AND ON DIFFERENT SITES COME UP THAT SOME HAVE PROBLEMS AND HAVE RECALLS . WELL OM INFORMING THEM THAT THERES AN ISSUE BUT SINCE ITS NOT ON THEIR DATA BASE OR MY VIN THEY WILL NOT DO ANYTHING. THE CAR WHEN DRIVING SHUTS OFF SOMETIMES. OR WHEN I START IT AND BEGIN TO DRIVE IT SHUTS OFF.
BURNS OIL REALLY BAD AND TODAY ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON CHECKED THE OIL AND NOTHING. NO CHECK OIL NO SOUND NO NOTHING. CAR STALLED OUT
A HIGH PITCHED WHINING SOUND WAS NOTED WHILE SHIFTING THROUGH 2ND GEAR. NOTED THE NEXT DAY THE SAME WHINING SOUND WHILE SHIFTING THROUGH 2ND GEAR ALSO BEGAN WHILE SHIFTING FROM PARK INTO REVERSE NEUTRAL AND DRIVE. NOTED ON THE 3RD DAY ALL OF THE ABOVE IN ADDITION TO THE VEHICLE SLIPPING GEARS AND WHILE IN DRIVE BEGAN TO READ AS IF IT WERE IN NEUTRAL. UPON INSPECTION BY A LOCAL DEALER IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS NO LONGER FUNCTIONAL. D MILEAGE FOR THE 2011 CHEVROLET EQUINOX AT THAT POINT WAS 109000 MILES. IT HAS SINCE COSTED APPROXIMATELY $3000 TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION OF WHICH NONE WAS COVERED BY ANY WARRANTY EITHER DEALER OR MANUFACTURER.
THE VEHICLE IS BURNING OIL FASTER THAN NORMAL, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO STALL OUT RANDOMLY.
REGULAR OIL CHANGES AT GMC DEALERSHIP SHOWED HIGH OIL CONSUMPTION. CHEVY DEALERSHIP REPLACED TRANSMISSION 2015 UNDER FACTORY WARRANTY. HIGH OIL CONSUMPTION CONTINUED. 2018 ENGINE POWER SHUTS DOWN CAR WHILE IDLING. TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL MECHANIC REPLACED TRANSMISSION. DROVE ALMOST 400 MILES ON "NEW TRANSMISSION" AC NOT WORKING, IDLES WITH HIGH PITCH SOUND WHEN FAN IS RUNNING. NOW SEAT BELTS LIGHTS FLASH AND ALARM DESPITE SEAT BELTS IN BUCKLED POSITION. ENGINE GOES TO POWER DOWN /SAVE MODE WHEN DRIVING ON FREEWAY AT 60MPH ON HIGHWAY. THIS POWER DOWN (REDUCTION) HAPPENS STALLS AND WONT DRIVE. ENGINE CONTINUES TO SHAKE AND RATTLE AFTER BEING PUT IN PARK AND REMOVING KEY (WHEN TURNED OFF)

THE 2.4L ENGINE MY WIFE WAS DRIVING BEFORE THE DATE LISTED, THE CAR STALLED ON TWICE ON INTERSTATE 69 SHE HAD TO MOVE TO THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE INTERSTATE TO RESTART THE CAR. THIS WAS DUE TO THE OIL CONSUMPTION IN CAR. SHE DID NOT FEEL SAFE IN THAT CAR AT ALL. ATTACH WIL BE THE BILL OF THE ENGINE REPAIR DUE TO THE OIL CONSUMPTION
TRAVELING STRAIGHT ON CITY STREET, 30 MPH, WAS T-BONED IN CENTER OF DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR. SIDE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY? DAMAGE TO BOTH DOORS, CENTER AND LOWER PILLAR, AND THE TRACTION CONTROL BAR BENT. CONCUSSION AND BRUISING FROM INSIDE PILLAR TO DRIVER. DRIVER WAS WEARING SEAT BELT AT TIME OF COLLISION
MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN DIAGNOSED AND THE TIMING CHAIN AND BELT TENSIONERS HAVE GONE BAD AND NEED REPLACED BUT MY VIN IS NOT LISTED UNDER THE RECALL. IT'S A 2011 CHEVY EQUINOX UNDER THE 120,000 MILE SPECIFICATION. KNOWING MY VEHICLE'S HISTORY BEFORE I CAME INTO OWNERSHIP THIS WAS ALREADY REPLACED IN 2015 BUT NEEDS IT AGAIN ALREADY SO THERE'S CLEARLY A MANUFACTURER'S ISSUE GOING ON
MOST RECENTLY WAS DRIVING IN HEAVY RAIN AND THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS JUST STOPPED WORKING IN THE UPRIGHT POSITION, AND VISIBILITY WAS EXTREMELY IMPAIRED. HAD MY GRANDDAUGHTER WITH ME, THEY HAD TO ROLL DOWN WINDOWS TO HELP ME GET SAFELY OFF THE ROAD. THIS VEHICLE HAS HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE FUEL SYSTEM IN 2015, AIR CONDITIONER QUIT WORKING IN 2014, FAILED OIL CONSUMPTION TEST IN 2016. I BOUGH A NEW CAR BECAUSE IN DIDN'T WANT MECHANICAL PROBLEMS AND THIS VEHICLE HAS HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEM AFTER PROBLEM. IT IS A LEMON.
I WAS DRIVING ON AN INTERSTATE DURING A HEAVY DOWN POUR AT NIGHT WHEN THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS QUIT WORKING. THEY WERE STUCK IN THE UP POSITION AND NO LONGER MOVED. I IMMEDIATELY LOST ALL VISIBILITY DUE TO THE RAIN WHICH COULD HAVE POTENTIALLY CAUSED A DANGEROUS SITUATION. I HAD TO PARK MY VEHICLE FOR THE DURATION OF THE NIGHT AND WAIT TO GET IT IN THE MORNING WHILE IT WAS NO LONGER RAINING.
2011 CHEVY EQUINOX TICKING ENGINE AND ERRATICALLY IDLES. RUNS ROUGH AND SHIFTING IS INCONSISTENT. TOOK IT TO CHEVY DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THE TIMING CHAIN IS BAD. $1500 REPAIR! TIMING CHAINS ARE MEANT TO LAST THE LIFE OF THE CAR, THESE ONES ARE DEFECTIVE. THE RECALL SHOULD HAVE BEEN ISSUED YEARS AGO. MY CAR HAS 125K MILES. HATE CHEVY
OIL CONSUMPTION
LAST YEAR OUR TRANSFER CASE BROKE. FORTUNATELY THE FAILURE WAS IN A PARKING LOT AND WE AVOIDED A SERIOUS ACCIDENT DUE TO THE COMPLETE FREEZING UP OF THE FRONT END. WE SIMPLY STARTED DRIVING AND THERE WAS A LOUD CRACK AND THEN THE STEERING FROZE. THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT, COLLISION OR ANY OFF ROAD OR ON ROAD EXPERIENCE THAT COULD HAVE CAUSED THIS. IT WAS CLEARLY A MAJOR PART THAT SHOULD NEVER FAIL THIS WAY. THE MECHANICS HAD NEVER SEEN BEFORE. OTHERS SINCE HAVE SUGGESTED WE FILE A COMPLAINT AND SEEK COMPENSATION BECAUSE OF THE NATURE OF THE FAILURE. WE HAVE WRITTEN GM AND INCLUDED PHOTOS. WE ATTACHED THE REPAIR BILLS, WHICH TOTALED $4,466.63, AND ARE SEEKING FULL COMPENSATION. *TR
NOTICING EXCESSIVE ENGINE OIL CONSUMPION WITH OUT WARNING FROM THE CAR'S COMPUTER. THE CAR DOES START TO HAVE OPERATING ISSUES AND WILL CHUG AND TURN IT SELF OFF IF THE OIL DOES RUN LOW BEFORE I CAN CATCH IT. THE ONLY SYSTEM NOTIFICATION FOR THIS IS A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. NO OIL NOTIFICATIONS APPEAR.
WHILE DRIVING, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CAR DIED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. HAD TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE RODE. RESTARTED DROVE ANOTHER 2 MILES AND IT DIED AGAIN. GOT IT TO KEEP RUNNING ALTHOUGH IT TRIED TO DIE AND TOOK TO DEALER FOR REPAIR. THIS CAR IS A DEATH TRAP. WITH ALL OF THE COMPLAINTS, CAN'T FIGURE OUT HOW CHEVY CAN CONTINUE TO ALLOW THIS TO HAPPEN. I ASSUME WHEN SOMEONE DIES BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE, THEY MAY DO SOMETHING THEN.
ENCOUNTERED AN ISSUE WHERE THE CAR WOULD RANDOMLY SHUT THE ENGINE OFF WITHOUT ANY TYPE OF LIGHT OR WARNING. THIS HAPPENED FOR THE FIRST TIME A WEEK BEFORE WE COULD GET IT TO THE SHOP, IN THAT WEEK IT HAPPENED 8 TIMES. ONE OF THESE TIMES WAS WHILE MOVING AND MY WIFE WERE NEARLY T-BONED ON A HIGHLY CONGESTED ROAD. MY WIFE BEGAN GETTING EXTREMELY ANXIOUS WHEN SHE HAD TO DRIVE THE CAR AND SCARED IT WOULD DIE ON THE INTERSTATE.THE CHEVY DEALERSHIP SAID THIS WAS BEING CAUSED BY HIGH OIL CONSUMPTION, THIS WAS NEWS TO US BECAUSE THE CAR HAD NOT NOTIFIED US OF THAT AT ALL (NO OIL OR CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS) AND WE WERE AT ABOUT 3K SINCE LAST OIL CHANGE WITH FULL SYNTHETIC (70K TOTAL MILES). THE DEALERSHIP THEN WENT ON TO SAY THAT THE PISTON RINGS AND PISTONS NEED TO BE REPLACED FOR $4,200. I GOOGLED '2011 CHEVY EQUINOX PISTON RINGS' AND ONE OF THE FIRST RESULTS WAS 'SPECIAL COVERAGE ADJUSTMENT 15285D' FOR EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION CAUSED BY THE PISTONS AND RINGS. I ASKED THE DEALERSHIP WHY HE NEVER MENTIONED THIS AND HE SAID IT DIDN'T APPLY TO OUR VIN BUT HE DIDN'T KNOW WHY. AFTER A BACK AND FORTH OF 'THAT MAKES NO SENSE, IT'S THE EXACT ISSUE' AND 'I DON'T KNOW IT'S ABOVE MY PAY GRADE' HE EVENTUALLY SAID 'BASED ON THE VIN YOUR CAR WASN'T BUILT WITH THE SAME PARTS' WHICH I REALIZED AFTER CALLING THE GM CUSTOMER SERVICE LINE DIRECTLY WAS A LIE. GM TOLD ME THAT MY CAR WAS COVERED UNTIL NOVEMBER, 2018 (THIS HAPPENED JULY 19) BECAUSE GM DID THE SERVICE ADJUSTMENT OUT TO 7 YRS/120K MILES. GM TOLD ME SHE IS UP-CHANNELING OUR CASE TO SEE IF GM WILL PAY FOR SOME OF IT, STILL WAITING TO HEAR BACK.

THE CONTACT RECEIVED AN UNKNOWN RECALL NOTICE REGARDING THE OIL CONSUMPTION AND TOOK THE VEHICLE TO JOE HOLLAND CHEVROLET & IMPORTS (210 MACCORKLE AVE SW, SOUTH CHARLESTON, WV 25303). THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED PER THE RECALL BY THE PREVIOUS OWNER. DUE TO THE OIL FAILURE, THE HEAD GASKET BLEW OUT IN THE ENGINE. THE INDEPENDENT DEALER THAT SOLD THE CONTACT THE VEHICLE AGREED TO REPLACE THE ENGINE FOR $3,000. AFTER THE ENGINE WAS REPLACED, THE FAILURE CONTINUED WITHOUT WARNING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000.
THE ENGINE IS BURNING OIL FREQUENTLY AND HAS METAL SHAVINGS IN OIL.
MY WIPERS STOPPED WORKING WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY IN THE POURING RAIN. THEY WILL NOT WORK NOW. I WAS FORCED TO DRIVE 60 MILES WITHOUT THEM, IN THE RAIN. IT IS NOT THE FUSE, I CHECKED.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO WINTER CHEVROLET (3750 CENTURY CT, PITTSBURG, CA 94565, (925) 232-0290) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER MISFIRED, THE PISTONS AND HEAD GASKET NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, AND THERE WAS NO OIL IN THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 97,700.
MY VEHICLE RAN COMPLETELY OUT OF OIL. THERE WAS NO INDICATOR LIGHT TO WARN ME THERE WAS LOW OIL. THERE WAS NEVER INDICATION OIL WAS LEAKING AS IT DID NOT APPEAR ON MY DRIVEWAY. I HAVE TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE MOTOR.
I HAVE HAD ALL RECALLS DONE ON THIS CAR. HAVE HAD BASICALLY EVERYTHING BUT THE ENGINE REPLACED. IT RUNS LIKE IT IS A SEMI. STALLS AT STOP LIGHTS. HAS DIED TWICE WHILE DRIVING IT - AND WOULD NOT START AGAIN EVEN IN NEUTRAL. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE IT BECAUSE IT COULD STALL OUT WHEN GOING THROUGH AN INTERSECTION. I KEEP THE OIL CHANGED REGULARLY. I DON'T KNOW WHAT ELSE TO DO. I CAN NOT AFFORD TO REPLACE THE ENGINE - I STILL OWE ON MY CAR LOAN ON THIS CAR. IN ALL THE 40 PLUS YEARS I HAVE DRIVEN CARS, I HAVE NEVER HAD THIS MUCH TROUBLE WITH A VEHICLE. I CAN UNDERSTAND HAVING TO DO SOMETHING EVERY ONCE IN AWHILE - LIKE TRANSMISSION, ETC. I HAVE SPENT OVER $3000 ON DIFFERENT "FIXES" THAT HAVN'T FIXED IT. I AM USUALLY A CHEVROLET PERSON, BUT I AM NOT GOING TO BUY A CHEVROLET AGAIN.
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE ON THE ROAD @ 55 MPH IN THE POURING RAIN WITH THE WINDOW WIPERS WORKING, THE DRIVER'S WIPER MOVED PAST THE WINDSHIELD AND BECAME WEDGED AGAINST THE DRIVER'S WINDOW. WHILE DRIVING I OPENED THE DRIVER'S WINDOW AND PUSHED THE WIPER BACK ON TO THE WINDSHIELD. THE WIPERS WERE STATIONARY ON THE WINDSHIELD AND NO LONGER OPERATED. I DROVE 10 MILES IN THE POURING RAIN WITHOUT ANY WIPERS. WHEN I ARRIVED HOME, I COULD MOVE THE WIPERS BY HAND. I COULD HEAR A SCRAPING METAL SOUND.
I BOUGHT A 2011 EQUINOX IN MAY A COUPLE OF DAYS AFTER HAVING THE CAR I WAS HEARING CLICKING NOISES TOOK BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY TOLD ME IT WAS JUST THE AIR CONDITION. A COUPLE OF WEEKS LATER MY CAR STARTED TO ROCK BACK IN FOURTH WHEN AT A LIGHT AND SHUTTING OFF WHILE DRIVING. I TOOK IT AGAIN TO THE DEALERSHIP WHEN THEY TOLD ME IT WAS AN OIL CONSUMPTION ISSUE AND I NEEDED TO TAKE IT TO A CHEVY DEALERSHIP. I TOOK IT IN THEY SAID THAT I NEEDED A TIMING CHAIN FILED UNDER MU WARRANTY AND I PAID THE DEDUCTIBLE. I WAS THEN TOLD THAT IT WASN'T GOING TO FIX THE ISSUE STATING I NEEDED TO BRING IT BACK AFTER A 1000 MILES AND THAT GM WOULD HANDLE THE PROBLEM AT HAND. I THEN TOOK IT BACK AND BEHIND MY BACK THEY TRIED TO CALL MY WARRANTY COMPANY TO SEE IF THEY WOULD PAY. MY WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER THEIR PROBLEM. THEN WAS TOLD THAT THEY WOULD HANDLE EVERYTHING BUT I STILL WOULD HAVE TO PAY MONEY OUT OF POCKET. IT HASN'T EVEN BEEN 90 DAYS SINCE I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE.
EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION: HAVE HAD TO COMPLETELY REFILL 4QTS OF OIL EVERY 17-20 DAYS, NO OIL STAINS IN PARKING AREAS OR OIL BURNING SMELL WHEN DRIVING.
MAY 22ND 2019 IT WAS READING A LOT, AS I WAS DRIVING, MY DRIVER SIDE WIPER WENT UP AND STARTED THERE, AS THE PASSENGER SIDE CONTINUED WORKING. WHEN THIS HAPPENED, I HEARD THE SNAPPING OF THE BAR. THANK GOD FOR RAINX. I ENDED UP ADJUSTING THE WIPER BLADE TO MAKE A "EURO" WIPER, THEN JUST REPLACED THE WIPER TRANSMISSION ALL TOGETHER.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
