THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO CURRY AUTO CENTER (2906 E BUICK CADILLAC BLVD, BLOOMINGTON, IN 47401), BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 103,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN, THE VEHICLE LOST ACCELERATION. THE CONTACT HAD TO DEPRESS THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL FOUR TIMES BEFORE THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED. IN ADDITION, WHEN MAKING A RIGHT TURN, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE. HOWEVER, WHEN DRIVING STRAIGHT AHEAD, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED NORMALLY. THE CONTACT COASTED THE VEHICLE INTO A PARKING LOT AND POWERED OFF THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE NORMALLY, BUT ONLY WHEN DRIVEN STRAIGHT AHEAD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO CONKLIN CHEVROLET NEWTON (LOCATED AT 1500 SE 3RD ST, NEWTON, KS 67114, (316) 842-4137) AND THE FAILURE WAS DUPLICATED. THE DEALER ORDERED A SOLENOID PACK AND REPLACED THE OLD ONE; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE DEALER TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE AND IT FAILED TO ACCELERATE EVEN WHEN DRIVING STRAIGHT AHEAD. THE VEHICLE WAS LATER TOWED TO CONKLIN CARS BUICK GMC HUTCHINSON (LOCATED AT 1400 E 11TH AVE, HUTCHINSON, KS 37501, (620) 708-4102) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE WAVE PLATE EXPLODED AND SENT METAL PIECES INSIDE THE METAL CASE, WHICH DAMAGED THE TRANSMISSION. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 9-5288717276. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 91,754.

THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1000,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
THE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON A FEW WEEKS AGO AND THE LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD STAYS ON WHEN DRIVING.
MY HUSBAND, NEWBORN BABY AND I WERE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY SLOWED AND THEN STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC. THIS OCCURED EVERY TIME MY HUSBAND USED THE BRAKES. LUCKILY WE MANAGED TO MAKE IT BACK HOME SAFELY. THE VEHICHLE CONSTANTLY NEEDS OIL AND THEN IT DIED FOR THE LAST TIME ABOUT A MONTH AGO AS WE PULLED INTO A FAMILY MEMBERS DRIVEWAY.
LEAK IN REAR MAIN OIL SEAL. EXPENSIVE REPAIR DUE TO LABOR. SAME PROBLEM SHOWN ONLINE WITH THIS MAKE, MODEL, AND YEAR. CASTS DOUBTS ON QUALITY OF AMERICAN AUTOMOBILE MANUFACTURERS. GM SHOULD ISSUE RECALL.
I WAS ON MY WAY BACK 1 HOUR INTO A 5 HOUR TRIP FROM WASHINGTON DC TO NEW YORK. IT WAS POURING RAIN AND THE TRAFFIC WAS MOVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH. I HAD 3 KIDS IN THE CAR WITH ME. SUDDENLY, WITH NO WARNING, MY WINDSHIELD WIPERS FLIPPED OFF OF THE DRIVERS SIDE AND STOPPED AND WOULD NOT GO BACK ON. I COULD SEE NOTHING. IT WAS TERRIFYING. MY KIDS AND I ARE LUCKY TO BE ALIVE TODAY. FORTUNATELY THERE WERE SHORT BREAKS IN THE RAIN SO I WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF THE HIGHWAY AND PARK IN A SAFE PLACE, HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE WIPER TRANSMISSION WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THERE ARE SO MANY REPORTS ON CAR GURUS ABOUT THIS ISSUE. SAME YEAR, SAME MAKE MODEL, AS WELL AS OTHER YEARS.
FAILURE TIMING CHAIN TENSIONER AND CHAIN GUIDES AT 60K MILES, REPLACED TIMING CHAIN, BALANCE CHAIN, GUIDES AND TENSIONER AND EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD TRAVELING AT 65MPH IN THE RAIN WHEN MY WINDSHIELD WIPERS STOPPED WORKING. THE MOTOR WAS WORKING, STATING THAT IT WAS HEARD. THE WIPER TRANSMISSION ON THE OTHER HAND HAD STOPPED. THE PLASTIC BUSHINGS WERE LOOSE AND SNAPPED OFF. THIS WILL BE THE 3RD TIME REPLACING THEM IN THE LAST TWO MONTHS. GOING TO CHANGE THE WHOLE SYSTEM NOW.
MY CAR IS CONSUMING HUGE AMOUNTS OF OIL BEFORE IT IS TIME FOR AN OIL CHANGE. I AM PUTTING OIL IN THIS CAR AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK. I LET CHEVY KNOW OF THIS ISSUE BUT THEY SAID THAT THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM. I ONLY DRIVE TO SCHOOL AND WORK WHICH IS ONLY A 15 MILE ROUND TRIP. THIS IS RIDICULOUS!!

CONSUMER MANAGE TO PARK THE VEHICLE IN A SHOPPING CENTER PARKING LOT AND AT THAT TIME WOULD NOT ENGAGE IN EITHER REVERSE OR DRIVE SETTINGS. CAR WAS TOWED TO UEBELHOR AND SONS CHEVROLET (972 WERNSING RD, JASPER, IN 47546, (812) 482-2222) DIAGNOSED AND REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 83,000. *TT*JB
SHORTLY AFTER I FINANCED THE VEHICLE IT STARTED HAVING ISSUES WHILE IDLING, IF I IDLE TOO LONG IT WILL START TO SHAKE AND WILL SHUT DOWN. I HAVE POURED MONEY INTO FIXING THE VEHICLE AND SPENT THE LAST TWO 3 YEARS TRYING TO FIX THE ORIGINAL ISSUE OF IT SHUTTING DOWN. I WILL LOSE THROTTLE IN THE GAS PEDAL AND IT WILL JUST TURN OFF OUT OF NOWHERE WHILE I'M DRIVING AWAY FROM MY HOME. IT SEEMS TO NOT LIKE WHEN I IDLE OR DRIVE SLOW WHEN I'M ON THE FREEWAY I HAVE TO MAKE SURE I'M DRIVING FAST THE GAS PEDAL KEEPS THROTTLE IF I DRIVE TOO SLOW IT'S A RISK FOR IT TO STARTING TO SHAKE AND SHUT DOWN AGAIN. WHILE TRYING TO FIND THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM MECHANICS HAVE FOUND PARTS THAT WERE YEARS PAST DUE OF NEEDING REPLACING. SO WHILE THEY THOUGHT THAT THAT WAS THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM AND IT LOOKED POSSIBLE WITH A CONDITION IT WAS IN EVERY TIME WE WOULD THINK THAT WE HAVE SOLVED THE PROBLEM UNTIL THE NEXT DAY WHEN I TRY TO DRIVE MY VEHICLE AND IT DOES THE SAME THING. I HAVE BEEN THROUGH FIVE MECHANICS TRYING TO SOLVE THIS ISSUE AND IT IS BECOMING A NIGHTMARE NOT EVEN THE DEALERSHIP COULD FIGURE IT OUT.

THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. JOHN NORTH FORD, INC. (3002 US-50, EMPORIA, KS 66801, (620) 343-1700) DIAGNOSED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS BURNING OIL TOO FAST. THE DEALER ADDED OIL TO THE VEHICLE, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 113,000.
THE WINDSHIELD WIPER TRANSMISSION FAILED WHILE DRIVING IN HEAVY RAIN. A PLASTIC BUSHING BROKE AND CAUSED THE FAILURE. AFTER RESEARCHING PROBLEM, I FOUND THIS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM IN SEVERAL MODEL YEARS OF THE CHEVROLET EQUNIOX.
THE TRANSMISSION JUST WENT OUT DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, COULD NOT MOVE IT, COULD HAVE BEEN VERY DANGEROUS IF ON A BUSY HIGHWAY. DRIVING AT REGULAR SPEED, JUST SOUNDED LIKE IT SHIFTED TO PARK, NO WARNING AT ALL. WAS FORCED TO REPLACE TRANSMISSION AT $5000.
The contact owns a 2011 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked outside of the dealership, the contact heard an abnormal ticking sound coming from under the front hood of the vehicle. The contact notified the dealer of the issue and was informed that the noise would go eventually cease after driving the vehicle for a while. The issue persisted and the vehicle was taken back to the dealer. The vehicle was inspected and the contact was informed that the timing chain and assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that a year later while driving at an undisclosed speed, the failure recurred and the vehicle shuddered and lost motive power. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was first towed to the residence and then towed to the dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the failure was caused by excessive oil consumption related to the timing chain assembly repair. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 107,000.
DRIVING HOME I WAS APPROACHING INTERSECTION IN WHICH A FEW CARS WERE BEGINNING TO MOVE AS I APPROACHED THE RED LIGHT. ON A COUNTY HIGHWAY, UPON SEEING THE SLOW START, I BEGAN BREAKING. UNFORTUNATELY I CONTINUALLY PUSHED BRAKE PEDAL TO FLOOR NUMEROUS TIMES WITH NO ABILITY TO STOP AND RAN MY VEHICLE UNDER BACK END OF A FEDEX DELIVERY TRUCK. ONE HEAD ON COLLISION OCCURRED MY AIRBAG CANISTERS INITIATED BUT BUT THE AIR BAGS NEVER DEPLOYED AFTER IMPACT I DID RECEIVE INDICATOR NOTIFICATION STATING AIRBAG SERVICE REQUIRED. PRIOR TO THE COLLISION O HAVE HAD TOTAL REBUILD OF MOTOR FROM BLOCK UPWARD BY GMC I REPORTED THAT NUMEROUS TIMES WHILE ON HWY MY CARD WOULD SUDDENLY STALL/ LAG . GOING FROM 65-70MPH DOWN TO 20-30MPH. HAVE HAD ENGINE MAINTAINED WELL AND CHANGING OIL ETC WAS TOLD ALL 3 TIMES I TOOK IT IS IT RESULTED NOTHING THAT COULD BE REPLICATED. DESPITE HAVING BEEN LUCKY SINCE IT COMMON APPARANTLY FOR MY VEHICHLE TO BEGIN LOSES OIL AND HAS TO BE REFILLED Q-2 X WEEK LY.( SEEMS TO BE COMMON COMPLAINT FROM AUTOMOTIVE MEN TO STATE ALL IS GOOD. 1) IT IS NOT ALL GOOD. 2) I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED OR SERIOUSLY INJURED BECAUSE OF STALLING, FAILED BREAKING SYSTEM AND LACK OF AIR BAG.DEPLOYMENT.I ALSO TOOK SEVERAL TIMES FOR TIMING BELT REPAIR AND EVEN HAD MOTOR REBUILT AND ALSO DESPITE JUST HAVING PUT ON WHEN THIS STARTED 3 MONTHSEAGO, HAVE HAD ISSUES SINCE 4 MO AFTER BUYING VEHICLE ( HAD 20,000 MILES ON IT . OF COURSE AM ALWAYS TOLD NOT IN WARRANTY TIME LIMIT OR MY VIN # NOT INCLUDED IN CARS IDENTIFIED OF INCREASED RISK AND ALWAYS TOLD THERE IS AN INABILITY TO REPLICATE COMPLAINTS. WELL NOW I HAVE A TOTALLED CAR BUT PRAISE BE TO GOD HE STILL WRITING MY STORY AND I AM UNHARMED AND WILL NEED NEW VEHICHLE
ON MARCH 24 MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME AND THE VEHICLE DIED SEVERAL TIMES AND I TOOK IT TO THE MECHANIC. HE CALLED THE NEXT DAY AND SAID THE OIL WAS COMPLETELY GONE AND THE ENGINE WAS RUINED. I HAVE CHANGED THE OIL EVERY 3-4000 MILES RELIGIOUSLY AND NOW THIS? I WAS TOLD IT WOULD COST $6000 TO REPLACE THE MOTOR.
MY 2011 CHEVY EQUINOX WAS NOT PICKING UP SPEED, AND WOULD SHUT OFF WHEN I STOPPED FOR MORE THAN 30 SECONDS. THE ENGINE ALSO SOUNDED VERY LOUD WHEN IN PARK. I HAD A DIAGNOSTIC DONE AT THE DEALERSHIP AND IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE TIMING CHAIN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. MY CAR HAD BEEN IN THE SHOP TWO MONTHS PRIOR FOR REPLACEMENT OF THE CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR. MY CAR CURRENTLY HAS 102,000 MILES. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THAT METAL SHAVINGS WERE ALSO FOUND IN MY OIL. I TRIED DRIVING MY CAR AFTER THE DIAGNOSTIC AND THE "REDUCED ENGINE POWER" INDICATOR CAME ON, CAUSING ME TO HAVE TO PULL OVER ON THE HIGHWAY AND BE TOWED. I CONTACTED GM REGARDING A RECALL AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE PARTICULAR MODEL OF MY VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL AND SINCE MY WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. I HAVE READ REPORTS OF MY 2011 EQUINOX OWNERS WHO HAVE HAD SIMILAR ISSUES.
I'VE HAD THIS TRUCK FOR A LITTLE OVER 2 YEARS AND WHEN I FIRST GOT IT THERE WAS NO TICKING NOISE THEN MADE A YEAR AGO I NOTICED THE TICKING NOISE. I TOOK IT TO A CHEVY DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS NORMAL FOR THE MODEL. IT BEGAN TO STALL SO I TOOK IT BACK AND WAS TOLD THAT THE O2 SENSOR WAS THE CAUSE . LATER ON THAT DAY THE TICKING BEGAN TO GET LOUDER AND THEN AS I CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP AND RAISED THE HOOD OIL WAS SPRAYING EVERY WHERE. HAD IT TOWED TO THE SHOP FOR THEM TO TELL ME THAT THE TIMING CHAIN HAD BEEN SLAPPING UP AGAINST THE VALVE COVER AND HAD CRACKED THE COVER SO THAT'S WHY THE OIL WAS SPRAYING EVERY WHERE. HE ALSO TOLD ME THAT THE ENGINE IN MY TRUCK WAS DEFECTIVE FROM THE START AND THAT CHEVY KNOWS ABOUT THIS . SO NOW I'M STUCK TRYING TO FIND A MOTOR FOR A TRUCK THAT I'M STILL PAYING NOTES ON AND CAN'T DRIVE. THE FACT THAT CHEVY KNOWS ABOUT THE PROBLEMS WITH THE TIMING CHAIN, THE CAM SENSOR AND THE OIL CONSUMPTION AND IS NOT HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THE DAMAGE TO OUR VEHICLES IS CRAZY. I COME FROM A CHEVY LOVING FAMILY AND IVE ALWAYS OWNED ONE AND BUT NOW I'M LOOKING FOR SOMETHING ELSE BECAUSE CHEVY DOESN'T STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCTS ANYMORE AND YES I ALWAYS CHANGE MY OIL ON TIME AND ALL OF MY MAINTENANCE HAS BEEN DONE ON TIME.
I BOUGHT THE CAR AND DROVE IT FOR A COUPLE WEEKS. ABOUT EVERY 200-400 MILES I WOULD HAVE TO ADD OIL. SOMETIMES WHEN CHECKING THE DIP STICK THERE WOULD BE NO OIL AT ALL ON THE DIP STICK. AFTER WEEK 3 I WAS DRIVING AND THE REDUCE ENGINE POWER CAME ON. I HAD IT TOWED 360 MILES TO THE DEALER I PURCHASED IT FROM AND WAS TOLD THE ENGINE IS JUNK AND SOMETHING IN THE TIMING CHAIN HAD FAILED. THE DEALER WON'T STAND BEHIND THE VEHICLE ONE BIT AND NEITHER WILL THE FACTORY SO NOW I'M STUCK WITH A CAR THAT DOESN'T RUN AND HAVE TO PURCHASE A NEW MOTOR.
I TOOK MY 2011 CHEVROLET EQUINOX TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR AN OIL CHANGE. THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY WANTED TO DO THE OIL CONSUMPTION TEST BECAUSE MY CAR WAS BURNING TOO MUCH OIL. THEY TOLD ME IT WAS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THIS ENGINE AND I WOULD MOST LIKELY QUALIFY FOR REPAIRS TO BE DONE AFTER THIS TEST WAS COMPLETED. I HAD THE OIL CONSUMPTION TEST STARTED AND WENT BACK EVERY 1,000 OR LESS MILES AND WAS TOLD THIS ISSUE WOULD BE COVERED AND EVERYTHING WOULD BE FIXED. I FOLLOWED UP EVERY 1,000MILES OR LESS. WHEN I WENT BACK ON DECEMBER 3, 2018, MY CAR HAD 71,392 MILES ON IT AND HAD MY OIL CHANGED. I WENT BACK ON MARCH 14, 2019, WITH 73,996 MILES ON MY CAR, A DIFFERENCE OF 2,600 MILES, TO HAVE MY OIL CHANGED FROM DECEMBER 3, 2017, THEY TOLD ME THAT MY CAR DIDN'T SOUND RIGHT AND THEY WILL CHECK INTO IT. I WAITED TO SEE WHAT THIS ISSUE WAS AND THEY THE SERVICE GUY TOLD ME HE HAD BAD NEWS AND MY ENGINE WAS RUINED DUE TO THE TIMING CHAIN BREAKING AND RUINING MY ENGINE. GUY CA CAR A1,000 MILES TO HAVE MY OIL CHANGED AND THEN I WAS TOLD THERE WAS NO OIL CONSUMPTION ISSUE SO NOTHING FURTHER NEEDED TO BE DONE AND TO COME BACK WITHIN 3,000 MILES AND HAVE THE OIL CHANGED. I WENT BACK ON MARCH 14, 2018 AT 2,600 MILES AND WAS TOLD MY TIMING CHAIN BROKE AND MY ENGINE WAS RUINED. TOLD ME THEY CAN FIX IT FOR $8,000. HOW WOULD IT GO FROM THERE IS DEFINITELY AN ISSUE WITH THE OIL CONSUMPTION AND THAN NO ISSUE AT ALL. I TOOK VERY GOOD CARE OF MY CAR. IT LOOKS ALMOST BRAND NEW! HOW CAN GM NOT CARE THAT THESE ENGINES ARE BAD! GM KNOWS THIS IS A BIG PROBLEM AND ARE MAKING EVERY EXCUSE NOT TO FIX THIS. I COULD HAVE BROKE DOWN ON A HIGHWAY AND CAUSED AN ACCIDENT! HOW IS IT POSSIBLE THAT GM CAN'T BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE! PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU NEED MORE INFORMATION. THANK YOU.
Damages to my engine were caused solely as a direct result of excessive oil consumption caused by defective piston rings used by GM during manufacturing that caused piston ring wear. The repairs that are needed are the direct result of excessive oil consumption caused by defective piston ring wear causing time chain to stretch and break. I took very good care of my car and had the oil changed every 2,000 to 3,000 miles. I had the oil consumption test done at Thomas Chevrolet in Media, PA which proved my car was burning excessive oil which was supposed to be covered under multiple recalls from GM - SB 13-06-01-003F. I was told there was nothing wrong with my car and after driving only 2,605 miles, my engine failed. The guide broke off and was sheared into fragments, chain was roaming free, chain cut into top of valve cover, cracked formed in top of valve cover, oil was leaking out of hole, motor shavings all inside motor from internal parts, grinding was due to lack of lubrication from oil being lost, causing knocking noises. Dealer recommended engine replacement at a cost of $7,800. Also SB-10090101-2280-1 also concerns the oil consumption problem and timing chain.
EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION WITH LESS THAN 1000 MILES ON THIS OIL CHANGE I HEARD TICKING NOISE FROM UNDER THE HOOD SO I CHECKED THE OIL TO FIND THAT THERE WAS NONE ON THE DIP STICK, I ADDED 3.5 QUARTS. WHATS SO BOTHER SOME FOR ME IS THAT THERE WAS NO WARNING LIGHT. THERE WAS A RECALL ON THESE SUV'S FOR THAT VARY PROBLEM BUT IT EXPIRES AT 120000 MILES OR 7.5 YEARS WHICH EVER COMES FIRST ALL OTHER RECALLS ARE 120000 MILES OR 10 YEARS EXCEPT THIS ONE, WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED IF I WAS ON A LONG TRIP WITH THE FAMILY RAN COMPLETELY OUT OF OIL , CAR DIES ON EXPRESSWAY WITHOUT ANY WARNING THEN WHAT.I DID TAKE IT TO THE DEALER & SERVICE WAS THE ONE THAT TOLD ME ABOUT THE 7.5 YEARS. THIS CAR HAD A COMPREHENSIVE CARFAX REPORT WITH DEALER MAINTENANCE BEING DONE SINCE THE CAR WAS NEW. NO MENTION OF THE EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION . THAT WAS THE REASON THAT I PURCHASED IT
MY VEHICLE RANDOMLY DIES WHILE DRIVING. AT 94500 CK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. HAD ONE SOLENOID REPLACED AND CHANGED THE OIL. A WEEK LATER THE ENGINE STALLED A FEW TIMES IN A PARKING LOT. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON. REPLACED A 2ND SOLENOID. 3/5/19, A WEEK LITTLE OVER A WEEK IT STALLED 5 TIMES IN A PARKING LOT. PD AGAIN TO HAVE MECHANIC SCAN IT NOTHING SHOWED UP. 3/7/19 CHANGED THE SPARK PLUGS. 3/9/19 DROVE TO MILWAUKEE. GOT THERE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON,STABIL TREK LIGHT & ENGINE POWER REDUCED NOTIFICATION. AN HOUR LATER SEEMED FINE. ON THE WAY HOME ALL THE SAME LIGHTS CAME ON IN ROLLING TRAFFIC HAD TO PULL OFF BC IT DIED A COUPLE OF TIMES. LET IT SIT A BIT THEN STARTED HOME AGAIN. AFTER ABOUT 5 MILES GOING 60MPH ON THE INTERSTATE IN A SNOW/RAIN STORM THE VEHICLE DIED, WHILE DRIVING IT. I BARELY GOT IT TO THE SHOULDER OF THE INTERSTATE. A STATE TROOPER HAD TO SIT BEHIND FOR SAFETY. BC OF THE STORM THE TOW TRUCK WAS 90 MINUTES OUT. THIS WAS A LIFE THREATENING SITUATION. I COULD HAVE BEEN HIT & KILLED.HAULED TO A MECHANIC 50 MILES AWAY. CODE READER (ATTACHED) SHOWED 5 ERRORS BUT COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG THAT CAUSED THE PROBLEM. TOOK IT TO A CERTIFIED GM DEALERSHIP. THE MECHANIC COULDN'T REPLICATE THE ISSUE SO DOESN'T KNOW WHAT IT WRONG. HAD THE TIMING CHAIN REPLACED BUT MECHANIC DIDN'T THINK THAT WAS THE ISSUE. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE IT BECAUSE IT COULD RANDOMLY DIE AGAIN IN HEAVIER TRAFFIC ON THE INTERSTATE AND TO ME IS LIFE THREATENING. THERE ARE SO SO MANY PEOPLE COMMENTING ONLINE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM THAT THIS VEHICLE SHOULD BE RECALLED BEFORE PEOPLE DO DIE IF IT HASN'T HAPPENED ALREADY. I HAVE ONLY OWNED THIS VEHICLE 5 MONTHS AND HAVE HAD IT TO THE MECHANIC AT LEAST 5 TIMES. I DON'T WANT TO UNLOAD THIS DEATH TRAP ON SOMEONE ELSE BUT I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE IT FOR FEAR OF LOSING MY LIFE OR SOMEONE ELSE'S.
VECHICAL WAS INVOLVED IN A CRASH, REAR ENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE, VECHICAL WAS TOTALED. AIRBAGS NEVER WENT OFF. ON A HIGHWAY ABOUT 50-60 MPH.
I HAVE EXPERIENCED OVER EXCESSIVE USE OF OIL, ON BOTH STREET AND HIGHWAY DRIVING, WHILE IN MOTION, MY CAR STARTED TO CHOKE ITSELF OUT WHEN I WOULD STOP AT A STOP SIGN/LIGHT. OVER THE PAST 3 YEARS OF OWNING THIS CHEVY 2011 EQUINOX, I HAVE HAD EXCESSIVE OIL USAGE. THE OIL USAGE WAS SO EXTENSIVE THAT I WAS HAVING TO PUT A QUART OF OIL EVERY 500 MILES OR LESS.......ALL OF THIS EXCESSIVE OIL BURNING HAS TO EXHAUST SOMEWHERE, I REACHED OUT TO MY LOCAL MECHANIC SHOP AND ASKED THEM TO SEE WHAT THEY COULD FIND OUT FOR ME, AND THEY RETURNED WITH A OIL CONSUMPTION TEST PAPER TO FILL OUT. I HAD BEEN DOING THIS OIL CONSUMPTION TEST WHEN MY EXHAUST STARTED TO CLOG CAUSING MY REAR ENGINE SEAL TO BLOW, AND LEAK EVERY BIT OF OIL OUT OF MY MOTOR, ALL OF THIS RESULTED FROM THE EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION OVER THE PAST YEARS, CAUSING MY CADILLAC CONVERTER TO BECOME CLOGGED, THEREFORE, CAUSING THE PRESSURE OF THE EMISSIONS, THAT WAS NOT ABLE TO BE EXHAUSTED OUT, TO CAUSE MY REAR ENGINE SEAL TO BLOW. MY VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED TO A SHOP. THESE PROBLEMS HAVE OCCURED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION UNTIL MY REAR ENGINE SEAL BUSTED, CAUSING MY VEHICLE TO BE UNMOVABLE WITHOUT ASSISTANCE FROM A TOW TRUCK.
TAMARA RECALL THE SERVICE AIRBAG LIGHT COMES ON WHEN I START MY VEHICLE AND STAYS ON FROM TIME TO TIME. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON AND SCARES ME THAT IT MIGHT DEPLOY UNEXPECTEDLY. I FEEL AS IF MY LIFE IS IN DANGER BECAUSE OF THIS.
Was never informed of oil consumption issue. Consistently getting worse. Uses 1 quart every 1000 miles. No smoke, no leaking. No oil warning lights. Check engine light. Catalytic converter codes. Replaced under warranty. Chevy said was due to oil consumption.
MY VEHICLE HAS 63,000 MILES AND WHEN I PRESS THE GAS PEDDLE AND GET NO RESPONSE AT ALL. THIS MOSTLY HAPPENS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS COLD, BUT IT HAS HAPPENED OTHER TIMES AS WELL. I WAS TOLD TO CHANGE THE INTAKE AND EXHAUST CAMSHAFTS SOLENOIDS, BUT THIS DID NOT HELP. I CHANGED THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD, STILL DID NOT HELP.
I BOUGHT MY 2011 EQUINOX WITH 45K MILES, 1.5 YEARS AGO AND HAVE HAD MANY PROBLEMS. HAD TO CHANGE THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD, MUFFLER AND NOW I AM HAVING POWER ISSUES. THE CAR WILL STALL WHEN IDLING AND LOSE POWER WHEN DRIVING. I HAD MY 3 CHILDREN IN THE CAR AND WHEN MAKING A LEFT TURN AT AN INTERSECTION I LOST ALL ACCELERATION. THANK GOD THERE WAS NOT A CAR COMING, BECAUSE WE WOULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY HURT FOR IT IS NORMALLY A BUSY INTERSECTION. I STILL OWE A LOT OF MONEY ON THE VEHICLE AND I AM SCARED TO DRIVE IT. THIS PROBLEM OCCURS OFTEN AND I WAS TOLD TO CHANGE THE CAM SHAFT, WHICH I DID TO NO AVAIL.
I GOT A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND I WENT TO GET IT TESTED AND IT SAYS THAT IT IS A EXHAUST POSITION TIMING ISSUE. NO MECHANIC CAN FIX IT BECAUSE IT WAS A DESIGN ISSUE BY THE MANUFACTURER. I NOTICED THAT THE CAR HAS BEEN JERKING AROUND WHEN I DRIVE, IT WON'T BACK UP AND IT BACKFIRES AND I'M TERRIFIED OF DRIVING IT.

AT ABOUT 88,000 MILES, WHILE STARTING FROM A STOP, AND ALSO WHILE CLIMBING A HILL, THE TRANSMISSION STARTED TO SLIP INTO A NEUTRAL POSITION INSTEAD OF A HIGHER OR LOWER GEAR. I HAD TO TAKE MY FOOT OFF THE ACCELERATOR AND LET IT IDLE DOWN BEFORE IT WOULD GO INTO A GEAR.02
WINDSHIELD WIPERS STOPPED WORKING WHILE DRIVING. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON WHILE DRIVING AND OIL RUNS OUT WELL BEFORE RECOMMEND OIL CHANGE AND NO LOW OIL WARNING LIGHTS COME ON. CAR BURNS A LOT OF OIL AND MAKES A LOUD NOISE FROM ENGINE BUT TOLD THAT THIS IS NORMAL FOR THIS BRAND.

HE PUT IN A QUART THEN ANOTHER IT CAME RIGHT BACK OUT AND SAID IT COULD BE A REAR MAIN SEAL. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND A SPECIAL COVERAGE ADJUSTMENT 'THAT STATED---- PLUGGED PCV ORIFICE IN INTAKE MANIFOLD FOR THE 2010-2014 CHEVROLET EQUINOX EQUIPPED WITH 2.4L ECOTEC ENGINE (LAF, LEA OR LUK) 2.4L ENGINE (LAF, LEA OR LUK) THAT HAVE EXPERIENCED HIGH OIL CONSUMPTION MAY ALSO EXPERIENCE A FROZEN AND/OR PLUGGED PCV (POSITIVE CRANKCASE VENTILATION) SYSTEM DURING COLD WEATHER OPERATION. THIS CONDITION MAY INCREASE CRANKCASE PRESSURE LEADING TO A REAR CRANKSHAFT SEAL OIL LEAK. I KNOW THAT GM NEEDED TO LOOK AT THIS SO I HAD IT TOWED TO DIVER CHEVROLET 2101 PENNSYLVANIA AVE, WILMINGTON, DE 19806 (302) 482-8359. ALMOST A WEEK LATER THEY CALLED AND SAID THE REAR MAIN SEAL BLEW OUT AND THATS WHAT WAS STATED ON THE SERVICE ORDER. I ASKED ABOUT THE MARCH 2015 BULLETIN NO.: 14882 . THEY SAID MY CAR WAS NOT PART OF THAT GROUP AND IT WOULD BE $3200 TO FIX. I ASKED HOW CAN THIS BE WHEN IT CLEARLY IS THE SAME ISSUE STATED IN THE BULLETIN EXACTLY. COLD TEMPS, FROZEN PVC, BLOWN REAR MAIN. I WAS EVEN TOLD A FEW CAR WERE IN DURING THAT COLD SNAP WITH SAME ISSUE, BUT THOSE CAR HAD EXT WARRANTY OR WERE PART OF THE GROUP VIN . SO NOW IM HERE TRYING TO GET HELP FROM YOU. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM AND THEY WONT ACKNOWLEDGE IT. IM A SINGLE MOM WITH 2 KIDS AND I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO.

MASSIVE OIL LEAK FROM ENGINE AND REAR MAIN SEAL BLEW OUT
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS FAILED TO OPERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE WINDSHIELD WIPER TRANSMISSION FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 130,000.
CAR WAS USING EXCESS AMOUNTS OF OIL YET THE OIL LIGHT NEVER CAME ON. I HAD ALL REGULARLY SCHEDULED OIL CHANGES. IT HAD BEGUN MAKE A CLANKING/RATTLING NOISE DURING ACCELERATION. WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT, IT WAS COMPLETELY EMPTY OF OIL AND NO OIL LEAK. IT WAS STATED THAT MY CAR HAD AN OIL CONSUMPTION ISSUE PER SERVICE BULLETIN 15285C.
THE MOTOR HADE 80,000 MILE ON AND BLOW ALL THE OIL OUT JUST AS THE 2012 EQUINOX DID AND NOW I HAVE NO MOTOR.GONE DOWN THE ROAD ABOUT 55MPH. ON HWY. 55 IN MONTROSE MN.

ALSO EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION YET NO SENSOR TURNS ON. CHECKED TO SEE IF THERE WERE ANY RECALLS BUT ONLY SEE HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM!
