WINDSHIELD WIPERS SUDDENLY STOPPED WORKING AND WERE STUCK IN THE UPRIGHT POSITION WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET DURING A HEAVY RAINSTORM. HAD TO CAREFULLY DRIVE TO WHERE I COULD GET THIS REPAIRED. THIS IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY ISSUE. HOPING IT WAS ONLY A BURNED OUT FUSE, UNFORTUNATELY IT WAS THE WIPER TRANSMISSION THAT WENT OUT. THE REPLACEMENT AND LABOR COST WAS $364.31.
THE WIPER BLADE MOTOR STOPPED WORKING SUDDENLY WHILE WE WERE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY IN HEAVY RAIN. IT CREATED A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED, FIRST TIME WE HAD IT REPAIRED WAS IN 2015 AND NOW AGAIN IN 2018.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH IN A RAIN STORM, THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS SUDDENLY MALFUNCTIONED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE WIPERS HAD DISCONNECTED FROM THE WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE, BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000.
I WAS DRIVING IN A HEAVY RAINSTORM AND THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS STOPPED MOVING. I WAS ALMOST IN AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE. I HAVE OWNED 10 OTHER VEHICLES OLDER THAN THIS VEHICLE THAT IS 6 YEARS OLD AND NEVER HAD AN ISSUE LIKE THIS. GM SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THIS.
DRIVING ON A BUSY HWY IN A HEAVY RAIN STORM AND THE WIPERS ON HIGH WHEN THEY SUDDENLY STOPPED WORKING. EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION. UNABLE TO EVEN SEE THE EDGE OF THE ROAD. HORNS BLARING AS CARS AND TRUCKS PASSED WITHIN 3 INCHES OF MY SIDE VIEW MIRROR. GENERAL MOTORS NEEDS TO ADDRESS THIS PROBLEM NOW! BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED.
DRIVING ON FREEWAY IN A HEAVY DOWNPOUR WHEN THE WIPERS JUST QUIT WORKING. CAN HEAR MOTOR RUNNING BUT WIPER NOT MOVING.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE WINDSHIELD WIPER MODULE WAS SEVERELY CORRODED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO YEMM CHEVROLET BUICK GMC CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (2195 N HENDERSON ST, GALESBURG, IL) WHERE THE FAILURE WAS CONFIRMED; HOWEVER, THE TECHNICIAN REFUSED TO COMPLETE THE REPAIR PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V582000 (VISIBILITY) DUE TO THE VEHICLE NOT BEING INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 8-4381411259. NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED BY THE MANUFACTURER'S REPRESENTATIVE THAT NHTSA INITIATED THE RECALL; THEREFORE, THE CONTACT WAS REFERRED TO NHTSA. WHEN MY VEHICLE IDOLS AT A STOP LIGHT, IT STARTS TO SHAKE AS IF IT WANTS TO CUT OFF. WHEN I TURN MY WHEEL THE INSIDE MAKES A SCREECHING SOUND.
WHEN I LEAVE MY KEYS IN THE IGNITION WHILE THE IGNITION IS OFF AND IN PARK. MY CAR SOMETIMES MAKES A NOISE LIKE IT IS TRYING TO START THE ENGINE/CAR OR CAR WITH THE CAR BEING OFF AND NO ONE SWITCHING THE KEY OVER. MAKING THE LIGHTS FLICKER ON THE INSIDE AND OUTSIDE OF THE CAR. THE MECHANIC SAID IT COULD BE ELECTRICAL FALIURE BUT HE WOULDNT BE SURE WITHOUT LOOKING AT IT...HOWEVER MY REMOTE START DOESNT WORK ANYMORE AND NIETHER DOES MY BLUETOOTH CAPABILITY.
The contact owns a 2012 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, depressing the accelerator pedal the vehicle was slow to respond. The check engine warning indicator light was illuminated. The engine reduced power message was displayed. The vehicle was taken twice to the local dealer within two years who diagnosed the accelerator pedal sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 10,000.
THE ENGINE ON MY 2012 CHEVY EQUINOX "DIED" UNEXPECTEDLY AFTER ~67000 MILES. IT OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING, SHORTLY AFTER I HAD EXITED I-95. IT RESULTED IN AN IMMEDIATE LOSS OF POWER THAT REQUIRED ME TO SWERVE ONTO THE GRASS BESIDE THE ROAD TO AVOID GETTING HIT BY THE CAR BEHIND ME. FORTUNATELY, I WAS ALONE IN THE CAR, AND NONE OF MY CHILDREN WERE PRESENT. THE CAR WAS INSPECTED BY MECHANICS AT THE DEALERSHIP WHO REPORTED THAT THE TIMING BELT HAD FAILED, WHICH CAUSED IRREPARABLE DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE. A QUICK INTERNET SEARCH RESULTED IN MULTIPLE REPORTED CASES OF 2012 EQUINOXES THAT HAD SIMILAR ISSUES. FORTUNATELY, THE ENGINE FAILURE OCCURRED AFTER I HAD EXITED THE HIGHWAY. IF IT HAD OCCURRED 15 MINUTES SOONER, I WOULD HAVE LOST POWER ON THE SCUDDER'S FALL BRIDGE OVER THE DELAWARE RIVER AND WOULD HAVE BEEN IN SIGNIFICANTLY MORE DANGER. WHEN ASKED WHETHER THE DAME WAS THE RESULT OF A MATERIAL DEFECT IN THE ENGINE, THE GM REPRESENTATIVE I SPOKE WITH AND THE CUSTOMER SERVICE REP AT THE DEALERSHIP WERE NON-RESPONSIVE AND WOULD NOT COMMENT.
CAR CONSTANTLY GOES THROUGH OIL, AND TODAY STARTED STALLING WHEN I STOP OR START TO ACCELERATE.
EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION CAUSING TIMING CHAIN
I HAVE ONLY HAD MY CAR FOR 3 YEARS AND THERE IS ONLY 70,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. I GET REGULAR MAINTENANCE DONE AS NEEDED FROM THE DEALERSHIP. WHEN I TOOK MY CAR TO A DIFFERENT MECHANIC TO DO A TRANSMISSION FLUSH, I WAS TOLD THAT MY TRANSMISSION HAD A BAD LEAK AND THAT IT WAS LEAKING ALL INSIDE THE AXLE ETC. THE TOTAL COST TO FIX IS 3,000 TO 4,000 BECAUSE I NEED A NEW TRANSMISSION. I COULD TELL SOMETHING WAS NOT RIGHT WHEN MY CAR WOULD NOT SWITCH GEARS SMOOTHLY AND IT STARTED MAKING A WINDING SOUND. THE CAR WOULD BARELY PICK UP ON THE HIGHWAY.
I PURCHASED A 2012 CHEVY EQUINOX IN DECEMBER 2016 EVERY 4 MONTHS I HAVE HAD TO RETURN TO THE DEALER FOR PROBLEMS WITH THE ENGINE. THEY HAVE COMPLETED OIL CONSUMPTION TEST ..REPLACE THINGS AND ASSURED ME THE PROBLEM WAS GONE. I TOLD THE DEALER REPRESENTATIVE HOW I SMELLED GAS AND FUMES AND SHE STATED THERE WERE NO KNOWN RECALLS OR DEFECTS WITH THE VEHICLE. I HAVE PAID FOR SEVERAL REPAIRS AT THE DEALER. AS OF NOW 6/6/18 VEHICLE IS AT THE DEALER FOR REPAIRS REGARDING THE ENGINE STALLING. LIGHT ON FUMES . I AM TERRIFIED THAT I WILL NOT BE CAPABLE OF TAKING OFF OR ACCELERATING WHEN NECESSAY. I HAVE CONTACTED CHEVROLET BE CAUSE THE INITIALLY SENT ME INFORMATION REGARDING ISSUES WITH THE VEHICLE ENGINE STALLS AND FUMES. THEY NOW HAVE SAID THE REPAIRS ARE NOT COVERED WITHIN THE SCOPE OF THE LETTER THEY SENT IN CITY LIMITS CAR STALLS AND STOP SIGN DOES NOT WANT TO TAKE OFF ON HWY OR IN CITY LIMITS FUMES ARE EXCRETED WHEN VEHICLE COMES ON AND DURING DRIVE CONSUME OILS FREQUENTLY CUTS OFF WILL NOT ACCELERATE ON HWY WHEN TRAVELING ON AN INCLINE. .STALLS..
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE SHOOK AFTER SHORT TRIPS AND THE BRAKES MALFUNCTIONED. ALSO, THE BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER (BURTNESS CHEVROLET, 802 GENESIS DR, ORFORDVILLE, WI 53576, (608) 352-3053) STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT COVERED EVEN AFTER THEY PROMISED TO OFFER THE CONTACT AN EXTENDED FOUR YEAR WARRANTY AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 76,000.
THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON AND STABILITY TRAC.CONES UP AND REDUCE ENGINE POWER AND CAN'T DRIVE TURN CAR OFF FOR A MIN RESTART AND IT GOES OFF BUT AS DRIVING COMES BACK ON.HAPPENED FIRST ON HIGHWAY.
THE KEY WILL NOT COME OUT OF THE TRANSMISSION. I'VE HAD A MECHANIC LOOK IT OVER AND HE STATED THAT THE CAR ISN'T ALL THE WAY IN PARK EITHER BECAUSE THE BUTTON ON THE GEAR SHIFT CAN BE PUSHED IN WHILE THE CAR IS TURN OFF AND IN PARK.
THIS CAR HAS A SEALED TRANSMISSION. AND I ONLY DRIVE AROUND TOWN AND TO AND FROM WORK. WHEN YOU GO TO TAKE OFF IT HESITATES AND JUMPS. IN FIRST AND SECOND GEARS. I HAVE TALKED TO OTHER EQUINOX OWNERS AND APPARENTLY THIS HAPPENS TO EVERYONE. I FEEL LIKE THIS IS A DEFECT. NOT EVERY CAR SHOULD HAVE TRANSMISSIONS PROBLEMS
USING OIL. I HAVE TO ADD OIL SEVERAL TIMES BETWEEN CHANGES. IT DOES NOT SMOKE; NOR DOES THE OIL GAUGE STATE ANY CHANGES. THE OIL GAUGE LIGHT DOES NOT COME ON EITHER TO INFORM ME OF THIS. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR THE PAST YEAR OF SO.
HIGH OIL CONSUMPTION WEARING DOWN THE LIFE OF THE ENGINE. MY TIMING CHAIN GUIDE BROKE DUE TO THE LACK OF OIL IN THE VEHICLE. MY CHEVY EQUINOX WAS NOT DUE FOR ANOTHER OIL CHANGE FOR ANOTHER 2,000 MILES. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AS IT ALSO STALLS OUT.

AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC STATED THAT THE ENGINE WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REBUILT. THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 139,000.
WHILE HIGHWAY DRIVING DURING A THUNDERSTORM, THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS RUNNING ON THE MEDIUM SETTING SUDDENLY STOPPED FUNCTIONING, CAUSING VIABILITY LOSS. THIS MADE IT UNSAFE TO CONTINUE DRIVING AND DIFFICULT EVEN CHANGING LANES TO PULL TO THE SHOULDER. MOTOR WAS STILL FUNCTIONING. FAULTY PART IS THE WINDSHIELD WIPER TRANSMISSION. ENTIRE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED. AGAIN TODAY, DURING A FLASH FLOOD WARNING RAINSTORM, WIPER TRANSMISSION FAILED WHILE HIGHWAY DRIVING WITH WIPERS ON HIGH SETTING CAUSING A COMPLETE VISIBILITY LOSS. ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT ATTEMPTING TO SAFELY PULL OUT OF LANES OF TRAFFIC. RESEARCH INDICATING CHEVROLET HAS RECALLED THIS PART IN CANADA AND REPLACED BUT NOT IN THE US

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO MARITIME CHEVROLET (985 POST RD, FAIRFIELD, CT 06824) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TIMING CHAIN WAS FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN ANY RECALLS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 145,000.
"TAKATA RECALL" WENT TO GO SOMEWHERE GOT IN STARTED THE CAR, WENT TO PUT IT IN REVERSE IT STALLED. PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND STARTED IT AGAIN, IT STALLED WHILE STILL IN PARK. WAITED A MINUTE OR SO STARTED CAR AGAIN IT WAS OK UNTIL I PUT IT IN REVERSE. STALLED AGAIN. IT WILL START BUT STALLS.
TIMING CHAIN BROKE
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. WHILE DRIVING IN INCLEMENT WEATHER, THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS CEASED TO FUNCTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (CLASSIC CHEVROLET, 6877 CENTER ST, MENTOR, OH) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR FAILED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V582000 (VISIBILITY); HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE CONTACT ASKED THE MANUFACTURER WHY THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED AND WAS REFERRED TO NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 57,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
I HAVE A 2012 CHEVROLET EQUINOX WITH THE EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION DEFECT CAUSE BY DEFECTIVE PISTON SEALS. IT CAME ON OUT OF NOWHERE WITH ONLY 78K MILES ON THE CAR. WE WERE DRIVING 2 HOURS HOME, AND HALF A MILE AFTER WE EXITED THE HIGHWAY, WHILE WE WERE SITTING IN A DRIVE-THRU, OUR ENGINE DIED ENTIRELY DUE TO THIS DEFECT. IF IT HAD HAPPENED A MINUTE SOONER, MY CAR WOULD HAVE DIED ON THE HIGHWAY, AND MY FAMILY WOULD HAVE BEEN IN A TERRIBLE ACCIDENT AND POSSIBLE EVEN KILLED. GM IS REFUSING TO COVER THE COST OF THE ENGINE REPLACEMENT, DESPITE THE FACT THAT THEY EXTENDED THE WARRANTY ON MY VEHICLE SPECIFICALLY BECAUSE OF THE KNOWN DEFECT IN THE PISTON SEALS. THIS IS A MAJOR HAZARD TO CONSUMER SAFETY, AND GM IS AVOIDING ISSUING A RECALL TO SAVE THEMSELVES MONEY. THE DEALERSHIP CONFIRMED MY CAR HAD THE DEFECT WHICH CAUSED THE ENGINE FAILURE, AND GM STILL WON'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT.
MORE THAN ONCE WHILE DRIVING I HAVE GOTTEN POWER STEERING WARNINGS WHILE DRIVING, VEHICLE LOCKED UP IN THE PROCESS AND TOOK ALL OF MY MIGHT TO TURN AND GET TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I HAVE CONSTANT OIL CHANGES AND WAS ISSUED A RECALL LETTER THAT THE OIL CENSOR WAS OFF LAST MAY AND THE DEALERSHIP SAID NO SUCH RECALL EXISTED. RECENTLY MY MECHANIC SAYS THE TIMING IS OFF, AN ENGINE POWER REDUCED WARNING HAS COME UP MORE THAN ONCE AND I HAVE STOPPED DRIVING THE CAR ALL TOGETHER FOR FEAR IS STOPS WITH MY CHILDREN AND MYSELF IN IT. THE FIRST TIME IT CAME ON TWO WEEKS AGO, I WAS AT AN INCREDIBLY BUSY INTERSECTION AND COULD NOT GO OVER 20 MPH, IT WAS AS IF I WAS DRIVING IN NEUTRAL. I TOOK MYSELF AND CHILDREN STRAIGHT TO THE MECHANIC. MY MECHANIC HAS INFORMED ME THAT THE AMOUNTS OF REPAIRS IS MORE THAN THE CAR MAY BE WORTH. I SEE SEVERAL COMPLAINTS WITH ISSUES MATCHING MY OWN AND CHEVROLET HAS DONE NOTHING. MY SCREEN RANDOMLY GOES OUT, THE RADIO GOES OUT, THE OIL CENSOR HAS STOPPED COMING ON, ENGINE LIGHTS COMES ON AND OFF. MY RADIATOR WAS RECENTLY REPLACED AS IT WAS RUSTED AND OVERHEATING THE CAR. A CAR THIS AGE SHOULD NOT HAVE THIS MANY ISSUES. THEY MUST LIE IN THE MANUFACTURING PROCESS.
USING OIL. NOT LEAKING FROM CAR. CONTINUOUSLY PUTTING IN OIL EVERY 500 MILES
THE BATTERY JUST DIED BUT THE SCARY PART WAS THAT THE DOOR DIDNT OPEN, NEITHER THE WINDOWS. I WAS LOCKED INSIDE MY CAR FOR APPROXIMATELY 10 MINUTES, ALSO THE KEY SWITCH DID NOT WORK, THE IGNITION KEY DID NOT COOPERATE IN RELEASING THE KEY.
WINDSHIELD WIPER TRANSMISSION BROKE. THIS IS THE 4TH TIME SINCE WE GOT THE CAR FOR MY DAUGHTER. WE WILL BE REPLACING IT AGAIN LESS THAN 3 MONTHS FROM THE LAST TIME WE REPLACED THIS PART. THIS PROBLEM HAS BECOME VERY COSTLY AND VERY UNSAFE FOR MY DAUGHTER AND GRANDSON. MY DAUGHTER WAS ON HER WAY HOME FROM WORK IN THE BAD ICE STORM IN MICHIGAN ON 04/15/2018 AND THE WIPER TRANSMISSION BROKE FOR THE 4TH TIME. VERY UNSAFE AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BY GM ASAP. I AM TIRED OF REPLACING THIS PART EVERY 3 TO 4 MONTHS
2012 EQUINOX, DRIVING AND ENGINE RUMBLED BEFORE LOSING POWER. ATTEMPTED TO RESTART, AND ENGINE FAILED. BROUGHT IN FOR SERVICE AT DEALERSHIP (~96400 MILES) AND THE TIMING CHAIN WAS FAILED CAUSING PERMANENT DAMAGE TO THE VALVE. FULL ENGINE REPLACEMENT NECESSARY. IF DRIVING ON HIGHWAY OR BUSY INTERSECTION, COULD HAVE BEEN A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN. VERY LUCKY TO BE ABLE TO PULL ASIDE SAFELY. GM REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT THE COMPLAINT EVEN THOUGH THERE IS KNOWN PROBLEMS WITH THIS ENGINE AND THIS SPECIFIC ISSUE, THEIR REASONING IS THAT THEY CANNOT PERFORM THE OIL CONSUMPTION TEST. THE LAB SERVICE INDICATED THAT THE OIL WAS LOW.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE DAN RYAN EXPRESSWAY DURING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC, ENGINE CONTINUED DYING OUT. GOT OFF THE EXPRESSWAY AND TOOK SIDE STREETS HOME TO A MECHANIC WHO SHOWED NO OIL IN ENGINE. OIL LIFE STILL READ 40%. DEALERSHIPS KNOW ABOUT AN OIL CONSUMPTION ISSUE WITH THESE 2.4 ENGINES AND ONLY TOLD DEALERSHIPS TO REPAIR AFTER AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST IS PERFORMED. GM NEVER ISSUED A NOTICE TO CONSUMERS ONLY DEALERSHIPS. WE BROUGHT THE CAR IN BEFORE THE LETTER WAS SENT TO THE DEALERSHIPS AND NOW THAT WERE OUT OF THE "SPECIAL EXTENDED COVERAGE" WE NEED TO REBUILD THE ENGINE. THERE ARE COUNTLESS CASES OF THESE ENGINE ISSUES ONLINE, AND A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT HAS BEEN STARTED. CUSTOMERS NEED TO BE AWARE OF THE ISSUES BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT OR EVEN KILLED WHEN THEIR ENGINE BLOWS WHILE DRIVING. GM WILL NOT ISSUE A RECALL UNLESS TOLD BY THE GOVERNMENT TO DO IT. THIS AFFECTS 2010 THRU 2015 CHEVY EQUINOX AND GMC TERRAIN VEHICLES.
THERE IS CURRENTLY A RECALL FOR WIPER TRANSMISSION CORROSION WHICH COULD CAUSE THE WIPERS TO FAIL UNEXPECTEDLY. THERE IS ALSO ONE IN THE US BUT IT DOES NOT COVER 2012, THE YEAR OF MY EQUINOX (25302-01: SAFETY RECALL ' FRONT WIPER TRANSMISSION CORROSION FAILURE (USA ONLY) ' 2013 CHEVROLET EQUINOX & GMC TERRAIN). MY WIPERS RECENTLY FAILED DUE TO THIS VERY ISSUE ON 4/2/2018 AND THE US RECALL SHOULD EXPAND TO COVER THE SAME YEARS AS THE CANADIAN RECALL. THE CAR WAS THANKFULLY IN THE PROCESS OF GOING THROUGH PA STATE INSPECTION AND THE WIPERS FAILED DURING A TEST DRIVE.
MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN STALLING ANY TIME I SLOW DOWN TO PULL INTO A PARKING SPACE, COME TO A STOP AT A LIGHT OR SLOW DOWN. MY MECHANIC SAYS ITS A PROBLEM WITH THE EQUINOX THEY SAY ITS AN ON GOING ISSUE THAT THEY SEE. I ALSO HAVE TO ADD OIL EVERY WEEK OR SO BECAUSE IT BECOMES EXTREMELY LOW EVEN THOUGH IT SAYS I HAVE OIL ON MY DASH GAUGES.I HAVE ALWAYS KEPT UP MY OIL CHANGES, VERY ROUGH SOUNDING . VERY LOW MILES UNDER 35,000.NOT SURE WHY THIS IS NOT BEING ADDRESSED. NOT SAFE TO BE STALLING ALL THE TIME.EVERYONE KNOWS THERE IS A PROBLEM WHY IS IT NOT BEING ADDRESSED
IN SEPTEMBER OF 2017 I PURCHASED A USED 2012 CHEVY EQUINOX WITH 52753 MILES ON. IT APPEARED TO BE IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. AT 54502 MILES THE CHANGE ENGINE OIL MESSAGE DISPLAYED ON THE DASH. ACCORDING TO THE DEALER STICKER IN THE WINDOW IT WAS NOT DUE UNTIL 57620. WHEN I CHECKED THE OIL IT WAS BONE DRY. THERE WAS NOT A DROP OF OIL ON THE DIPSTICK. I HAD TO PUT IN ALMOST 3 QUARTS. I CALLED THE LOCAL GARAGE AND WAS TOLD THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH CERTAIN MODEL YEAR GMC VEHICLES. " EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION ISSUES" IS THE TERM HE USED. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND DISCOVERED THAT THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE HAVE COMPLAINED AND CONTINUE TO COMPLAIN ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE. THERE IS CURRENTLY A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT AGAINST GM FOR THE 2010- 2017 CHEVY EQUINOX. A RECALL NEEDS TO BE ISSUED AS GM CLEARLY HAS NO INTENTION OF DOING THE RIGHT THING AND TAKING CARE OF THIS ON THEIR OWN.
I HAVE HAD MY ENGINE REBUILT FROM DEALERSHIP I BOUGHT IT FROM DUE TO OIL DISAPPEARING AND FOUND IT COMING OUT OF MY EXHAUST! SENSE THE REPAIR I HAD TO GO BACK TO DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES AND ALSO DO A OIL CONSUMPTION TEST. NOW I HAVE OIL COMING OUT OF MY EXHAUST STILL AND AND WHEN I CHANGE MY OIL IT SMELLS LIKE GASOLINE! BEEN HAVING THIS ISSUE EVER SENSE I HAVE BOUGHT THE CAR AND I GOT MY CATALYTIC CONVERTERS REPLACED AND IT STILL HAS SAME ISSUES. OBVIOUSLY SENSE I BEEN READING UP ON THESE CARS THERE SHOULD BE SOME RECALL WITH THE ENGINE 2.4 LITER WOULD MAKE LOTS OF OWNERS HAPPY!!!
ALL FOUR DOORS THE PAINT IS BUBBLING AND THE DRIVERS DOOR THERE IS RUST ALL THE WAY ALONG IT. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER, THE SERVICE REP AND THE HEAD OF THE BODY SHOP BOTH LOOKED AT IT AND SAID THEY WOULD NOT COVER IT UNDER WARRANTY. CAR SITS IN THE GARAGE WHEN NOT IN USE. I AM THE ONLY DRIVER, AND IT GETS IN TOWN DRIVING.
THE CAR HAS ONLY 82,000 MILES AND THE TIMING CHAIN IS SHOT. THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM IN THE EQUINOX CAUSED BY BAD VALVE RINGS WHICH GM ADMITS TO BUT WON'T FIX RINGS WITHOUT AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST OF 3,000 MILES. I'VE ADDED 3 QUARTS OF OIL SINCE THE LAST OIL CHANGE (ONLY 2,000 MILES AGO). THERE IS NO OIL LEAK. THE DEALER (ATLANTIC CHEVROLET, BAYSHORE, NY) HAS HAD MY CAR FOR 3 DAYS BUT WON'T REPAIR THE TIMING CHAIN WITHOUT A GO AHEAD FROM GM WHICH THEY SAY WILL REQUIRE 2 MORE DAYS! THEY NEED TO ISSUE A RECALL AND FIX RINGS AND TIMING CHAINS WITHOUT MAKING CUSTOMERS JUMP THROUGH SO MANY HOOPS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR MAIN SEAL FAILED TO REMAIN CONNECTED, WHICH CAUSED AN OIL LEAK. THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED AND REPAIRED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO REPLACED THE REAR MAIN SEAL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED BY A DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE, BUT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 87,000. *TT
ON A SNOWY DAY, MY WIPERS SUDDENLY STOPPED FUNCTIONING WHILE DRIVING ON A LOCAL ROAD. FORTUNATELY I WAS LESS THEN A MILE FROM THE HOUSE AND WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT HOME. MY MECHANIC REPLACED THE WIPER MOTOR WITH A USED UNIT BUT LESS THAN A MONTH LATER DURING ANOTHER SNOWY/ICY DAY, THE WIPERS BROKE AGAIN WHILE DRIVING LEAVING ME TEMPORARILY STRANDED.. MY MECHANIC JURY RIGGED A BOLT AS AN ALTERNATIVE TO BUYING YET ANOTHER WIPER MOTOR. I'VE NEVER BOTHER REPORTING THIS THOUGH I HEAR NOW THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE AND CONSIDER THIS TO BE A A COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE RISK BEING A KNOWN CONDITION.

MY CHEVROLET DEALER WOULD NOT HONOR TSB 14882 AND DIAGNOSE AND REPAIR MY VEHICLE FREE OF CHARGE. THE REASON GIVEN IS THAT THE TSB IS VIN SPECIFIC AND MY CAR DOES NOT HAVE THE EXACT ENGINE DESIGNATED IN THE TSB. HOWEVER, IT IS A CHEVROLET INLINE 4 CYLINDER ENGINE THAT EXHIBITS THE IDENTICAL SYMPTOMS AS IN THE TSB. THIS TSB SHOULD BE EXTENDED TO COVER ALL CHEVROLET 4 CYLINDER ENGINES IN THE DESIGNATED MODEL YEARS.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO KEN WASCHKE AUTO PLAZA (501 9TH ST N, VIRGINIA, MN) WHERE THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE WAS FRACTURED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE CONTACT REFERENCED GMC SPECIAL COVERAGE CAMPAIGN: 16118; HOWEVER, GMC DENIED TO COVER THE VEHICLE DUE TO OIL CHANGES NOT BEING PERFORMED BY THE DEALER. WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE MY POWER STEERING GAVE OUT ALMOST CAUSING ME TO CRASH INTO A BRICK WALL WITH MY CHILDREN THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE AND SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE ABOUT THIS.
WAS ALL DAY WITH MY WINDSHIELD WIPERS WORKING THEN I WENT TO THE MOVIES AT NIGHT TIME AND WHEN I WAS LEAVING IT STARTED POURING AND MY WI DAGWOOD WIPERS WORKED FOR 20 SECONDS THEN CUT OFF. I HAD TO DRIVE 20 MILES ON THE HIGHWAY WITH NO WINDSHIELD WIPERS WHILE IT WAS PORING DOWN RAIN.

UPON PARKING, VEHICLE HAS SUDDENLY REPORTED REDUCED ENGINE POWER" AND " CHECK STABILI TRAK" NOT ALLOWING THE VEHICLE TO GO OVER 40 MPH.
