I PURCHASED A 2012 GM EQUINOX ON SEPT. 6, 2017 SEPT 9 MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND VEHICLE WAS LOW ON OIL ' WE ADDED OIL SEPT 13 I HAD A TIRE CLAIM DUE TO TIRES BEING 'DRY ROTTED' PER DEALERSHIP. OCT 19 CAR STARTED DRIVING FUNNY, STALLING ' STOPPED IN MIDDLE OF ROAD WITH MY 18 MONTH OLD SON AND MY 8 YEAR OLD DISABLED DAUGHTER. HAD TO CALL SOMEONE TO COME. WHEN CHECKED VEHICLE HAD ALMOST NO OIL IN IT AGAIN. OCT 29 ' BRINGING DISABLED DAUGHTER TO SCHOOL WHEN CAR STALLED IN MIDDLE OF ROAD. CHECKED AND THERE WAS ALMOST NO OIL IN IT. WE HAVE HAD TO ADD OIL TO VEHICLE AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK SINCE JUST TO MAKE SURE I DIDN'T BREAK DOWN TAKING MY DAUGHTER TO SCHOOL. WE DID THIS EVERY MONDAY JUST AS PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE BECAUSE OBVIOUSLY THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE MOTOR. FEB 6 ' EVEN AFTER KEEPING OIL IN VEHICLE WEEKLY MY CAR WOULDN'T START THIS MORNING. CHECKED OIL ETC. IT FINALLY STARTED UP LATER THAT DAY AND I WENT TO GET MY STEP DAUGHTERS. WHEN WE GOT READY TO LEAVE AND TRIED TO CRANK CAR IT MADE A LOUD WHINY KIND OF SOUND AND IT SMELLED LIKE WIRES OR SOMETHING BURNING. STEERING LOCKED UP AND IT WOULDN'T TURN OVER AGAIN AND I COULDN'T REMOVE KEY FROM IGNITION. THE VEHICLE WOULDN'T CRANK BACK. CALLED SOMEONE TO COME. THEY CHECKED BATTERY, FUSES, ETC. I ENDED UP HAVING TO LEAVE MY CAR WHERE IT WAS OVERNIGHT BELIEVING IT WAS AN IGNITION PROBLEM. FEB 7 ' MECHANIC WAS CALLED TO CHECK CAR. REAR MAIN SEALED WAS BUSTED, TIMING CHAIN HAD BROKEN AND SEVERELY DAMAGED ENTIRE MOTOR. ENTIRE ENGINE WAS COMPLETELY SHOT AND HAD NUMEROUS BROKEN PIECES! I WAS TOLD THERE WAS NO WARRANTY ON THIS AND DEALERSHIP COULDN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. I DECIDED TO DO SOME RESEARCH. THERE ARE LITERALLY HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS WITH DETAILS VERY SIMILAR TO MY OWN AND END RESULTS THE SAME AS MY OWN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. AFTER FILLING THE VEHICLE WITH FUEL, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE PCV VALVE HEATER WAS BURNING OIL. THE FAILURE OCCURRED TWICE. DURING THE THIRD FAILURE, THE COVER DETACHED AND BLEW OUT THE MAIN SEAL. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO DEFOUW CHEVROLET (320 SAGAMORE PKWY S, LAFAYETTE, IN 47905, (765) 449-2800). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN ANY RECALLS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 81,000.
VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN ON THE TOLLWAY ON A SNOWY EVENING WITH THE TEMPERATURE AROUND 5 DEGREES. SUDDENLY THE VEHICLE STARTED LOSING POWER AND SHAKING AND STALLED IN A LANE OF TRAFFIC AND WAS UNABLE TO BE RESTARTED. THIS WAS A VERY UNSAFE SITUATION AS THE VISIBILITY WAS POOR DUE TO THE HEAVY SNOW AND OUR VEHICLE WAS DISABLED AND BLOCKING A TRAFFIC LANE. WE HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO A REPAIR SHOP WHICH WAS ABLE TO GET IT STARTED AGAIN BUT QUICKLY TURNED IT OFF AS THE ENGINE SOUNDED TERRIBLE. THEY CHECKED THE OIL LEVEL TO FIND NO OIL ON THE DIPSTICK SO THEY ADDED OIL AND CHECKED THE LEVEL AGAIN AND FOUND METAL SHAVINGS IN THE OIL. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND SOUNDED TERRIBLE AND THEY FOUND OIL QUICKLY LEAKING FROM THE REAR OF THE ENGINE. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION THEY FOUND THE REAR MAIN SEAL HAD FAILED CAUSING ALL THE OIL TO LEAK OUT FROM THE ENGINE. I NOW HAD A VEHICLE WITH 84,000 MILES ON IT THAT NEEDED A NEW ENGINE. UPON RESEARCHING THIS PROBLEM I QUICKLY DISCOVERED THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THIS ENGINE THAT OCCURS IN COLD WEATHER. THE OIL CONSUMPTION ISSUES AS WELL AS A PCV VALVE ISSUE WHICH CLOGS AND CAUSED THE PRESSURE TO BUILD UP RESULTING IN BLOWING OUT THE REAR MAIN SEAL AND IS COVERED UNDER TSB #14882 ARE KNOWN ISSUES WHICH LEAD TO THE FAILURE OF MY ENGINE. I WAS TOLD BY MY LOCAL DEALER THAT MY VIN # DID NOT QUALIFY FOR THE TSB #14882 AND REPAIRS WOULD NOT BE COVERED AS MY WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED 9 MONTHS AGO. THE SHOP WAS ABLE TO LOCATE A USED ENGINE WITH 25,000 MILES ON IT AND USED THAT TO REPLACE MY FAULTY ENGINE. IN TOTAL I SPENT $3,470 FOR THE ENGINE REPLACEMENT AND TOWING CHARGES.
WHEN MY VEHICLE IS IN MOTION I AM NOT GETTING THE AMOUNT OF POWER I SHOULD BE RECEIVING ONCE I PRESS ON THE GAS. I BELIEVE THE TIMING IS OFF AND I HAVE A CODE: P0013 ISSUE, ACTUATOR CIRCUIT, CAM SHAFT POSITION. I HAVE SEEN A RECALL TO THE 2011 MODEL FOR THE SAME REASONS AND I'M SURE MY VEHICLE IS HAVING THE SAME ISSUES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED A RAPID OIL CONSUMPTION FAILURE. ALSO, THE ENGINE SHOOK AND VIBRATED WHILE IDLING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER (MEDBEV CHEVROLET, 11001 W. I-70 FRONTAGE ROAD N, WHEAT RIDGE, CO) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TIMING BELT HAD STRETCHED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. WHILE REPAIRING THE TIMING BELT, THE MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE ENGINE WAS ALSO DAMAGED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
WHILE DRIVING ON INTERSTATE ON 2/1/18 MY OIL LIGHT CAME ON SO I PULLED OVER AS QUICK AS I COULD AND SHUT OFF THE CAR. I LIVE IN ND AND IT WAS BELOW ZERO AND IT HAS BEEN EXTREMELY COLD. NOT SURE WHAT HAPPENED OR WHY THERE WAS A PILE OF OIL UNDER MY CAR I GOT IT TOWED TO THE SHOP TO FIND OUT MY REAR MAIN SEAL BLEW OUT. THE TECHNICIAN TOLD ME THAT THERE WERE ICE CRYSTALS AROUND THE MAIN SEAL AND THERE WAS NOTHING THAT COULD HAVE PREVENTED IT FROM HAPPENING. I PAID $1,700 TO GET IT FIXED AND THE SHOP SAID THAT THE ENGINE WAS STILL GOOD. WELL I PICKED IT UP FROM THE SHOP AND DROVE HOME (I LIVE 40 MILES OUT OF TOWN) AND IT SEEMED FINE. UNFORTUNATELY WHEN I WAS DRIVING TO WORK THE NEXT DAY, MIND YOU IT WAS STILL WELL BELOW ZERO DEGREES OUTSIDE, THE ENGINE STARTED KNOCKING AND I SHUT OF THE CAR AS FAST AS I COULD; I GOT STRANDED ALONG THE INTERSTATE AGAIN BUT THIS TIME WITH MY 6 MONTH OLD SON' SITTING IN THE FREEZING COLD WAITING FOR A RIDE' I AM STILL FURIOUS!! I GOT THE EQUINOX TOWED TO THE SHOP AGAIN TO FIND OUT THAT MY ENGINE IS NOW WRECKED. THERE IS ONLY 84,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE AND IT NEEDS A NEW ENGINE. THIS IS RIDICULOUS; HOPEFULLY CHEVROLET WILL KEEP ME AS A CUSTOMER AND PAY FOR THE ENGINE THAT GOT WRECKED BECAUSE OF THEIR FAULTY REAR MAIN SEAL THAT CAN'T PERFORM IN COLD WEATHER.
AIR BAG LIGHT ON DASHBOARD IS ON (NOT FLASHING). SERVICE AIRBAG MESSAGE ON MESSAGE DISPLAY. NOT CAUSED BY ACCIDENT. NO AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE IDLING, THE VEHICLE WOULD SUDDENLY SHUT OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER WHITE BEAR LAKE CHEVROLET(1801 COUNTY RD. FE, WHITE BEAR LAKE, MN) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT PARTS OF THE ENGINE WERE DAMAGED DUE TO AN OIL CONSUMPTION FAILURE. THE ENGINE ACTUATOR, THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER, THE ENGINE PISTONS AND THE TIMING CHAIN WERE ALL REPLACED AND THE FAILURE WAS NOT REMEDIED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000. *BF CONSUMER STATED PARTS WERE REPLACED TWICE BUT WASN'T FIXED.*JB
EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION RECALL FOR NEW PISTONS AND RINGS RECEIVED ONE MONTH AFTER PURCHASE. DAY AFTER PICKING UP MY VEHICLE, MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURNED ON. DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT THE CAMSHAFT INTAKE SOLENOID WAS THROWING A CODE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED BUT IT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH WHERE THEY WORKING, I PAID OUT OF POCKET. NEXT DAY, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK ON HOWEVER, THIS TIME THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON AS WELL AND THE ENGINE POWER REDUCED WARNING CAME ON THE DISPLAY SCREEN AND I COULDN'T DRIVE OVER 20 MPH THE WHOLE WAY HOME (TWENTY MILES) WITH MY TWO SMALL CHILDREN WITH ME MIND YOU. REPLACED THE CAMSHAFT INTAKE SOLENOID ONLY TO NOT FIX THE ISSUE SO WE ALSO REPLACED THE CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR TO FIND THAT DIDN'T HELP AT ALL. ENDED UP HAVING TO HAVE MY VEHICLE TOWED BACK TO DEALERSHIP (40 MILES) AS IT WAS UNDRIVEABLE. DEALERSHIP SAID THAT THE FUEL RAIL PRESSURE SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AS THE VEHICLE WAS DUMPING FUEL INTO THE CYLINDERS. HAD THE DEALERSHIP FIX THE ISSUE AND I PAID THEM FOR PARTS AND LANOR, ALL WHILE DEALERSHIP DENYING FAULT. PICKED IT UP AFTER BEING "FIXED", YET AGAIN, NEXT DAY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CONES ON AGAIN! DEALERSHIP LOOKED AT AGAIN AND TOLD ME THAT THE CAMSHAFT EXHAUST SOLENOID, REPLACED THAT AND MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT POPPED ON AGAIN DAYS LATER BUT MY VEHICLE ALSO STALLED OUT ON ME WHILE PULLING OUT OF A PARKING LOT AND AGAIN WHILE STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF A TWO LANE HIGHWAY WITH KIDS IN THE CAR. I THEN REACHED OUT TO GM PERSONALLY AND THEY WERE EXTREMELY RUDE AND DENIED FAULT. ONE MONTH LATER, HAD TO REPLACE MY EXHAUST MANIFOLD AS IT WAS CRACKED AND RELEASING EXHAUST FUMES INTO THE CAB WITH ME AND MY CHILDREN GETTING HEADACHES WHILE DRIVING. REPLACED UPSTREAM O2 SENSOR.. NOT EVEN ONE WEEK AFTER THIS WAS FIXED, JAN 2018 MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS BACK ON AGAIN WITH A P0420 CODE FOR THE CAT CONVERTER....
12 JAN 18 I WAS DRIVING MY EQUINOX ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN THE STABILITY LIGHT, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND A MESSAGE "REDUCED POWER" CAME ON. THE NEXT DAY I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THE REAR MAIN SEAL FAILED AND DAMAGED TO THE ENGINE OF A TUNE OF $5500 TO $6000 (NEW ENGINE REQUIRES). HE STATED IT WAS CAUSED BY THE EXTREME COLD WEATHER WE ARE HAVING. I AM CALLING GM TOMORROW BECAUSE A VEHICLE WITH 74500 MILES SHOULD NOT HAVE THIS ISSUE.
THE REAR MAIN SEAL FAILS IN COLD WEATHER. GM HAS ISSUED A SERVICE BULLETIN ON THIS MATTER, BUT DOESN'T INCLUDE ALL VEHICLES THAT HAVE THE ENGINE ASSOCIATED WITH THE ISSUE. CURRENTLY I'M THE FORTH CAR IN LINE AT THE DEALERSHIP WAITING TO HAVE THIS ISSUE FIXED.
DURING A BITTER COLD EVENING, THE PVC ORIFICE FROZE AND PRESSURE BUILT UP WITHIN THE ENGINE AND FORCED THE REAR MAIN SEAL TO BE PUSHED OUT, RESULTING IN COMPLETE OIL LOSS. THIS HAPPENED WHEN THE TEMPERATURE WAS BELOW 15 DEGREES F. THIS IS A WELL KNOW ISSUE WITH THE MODEL BUT THE GM DEALERSHIP SAWS THAT MY VIN IS NOT ONE INCLUDED WITH THE RECALL. IT DOES HAVE THE SAME ENGINE AS THE RECALL, A 2.4L ECOTEC.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE SEIZED. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TOWED TO BURKE MOTOR GROUP (227 BAYBERRY DR, CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE, NJ) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 111,000.
RECENTLY MY CAR CAUGHT ON FIRE WHILE MY HUSBAND AND I WERE DRIVING. WE OWN A 2012 EQUINOX 2.4L. WE DIDN'T KNOW UNTIL NOW THAT THIS ENGINE IS KNOWN FOR HAVING EXTREME ISSUES WITH A PCV VALVE AND BECAUSE OF THIS DESIGN FLAW THE VALVE GETS CLOGGED UP. IT MAKES YOUR ENGINE BUILD UP PRESSURE AND THEN A CRANKCASE SEAL BLOWS (IN OUR CASE IS WAS THE REAR). THIS IS SOMETHING KNOWN TO GM. THERE IS A SERVICE BULLETIN OUT FOR THIS BUT GM WON'T COVER IT. WE MEET ALL THE QUALIFICATIONS AND THEY STILL WON'T COVER IT. THERE ARE SO MANY PEOPLE OUT THERE ALL OVER THE INTERNET POSTING ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEM AND GM WON'T HELP THEM EITHER.
SINCE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN SEPTEMBER 2014 I HAVE HAD THREE INSTANCES WHERE THE CAR HAS STALLED WHILE DRIVING. TWICE IT WAS RELATED TO CAM SENSORS AND A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THIS MOST RECENT TIME ON 1/5/2018 THE CAR WAS IDLING FUNNY AND STALLED OUT NO LIGHTS ON DASH. I JUST GOT AN OIL CHANGE ONE WEEK PRIOR. AS I WAS TRYING TO MAKE IT TO MY MECHANIC I HEARD AN AWFUL NOISE FROM THE ENGINE I HAD NEVER HEARD BEFORE. I JUST BARELY MADE IT TO THE MECHANIC. IT STALLED AT EVERY RED LIGHT ON MY WAY THERE....BUT WHEN I GOT THERE AND THEY HOOKED UP THE COMPUTER WITHOUT A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON A MESSAGE POPPED UP ON THE DASH THAT SAID LOW OIL PRESSURE. I HAD ONLY ONE QUART OF OIL IN THERE AND LIKE I SAID I JUST HAD THE OIL CHANGED ONE WEEK PRIOR. IN THE PAST I HAD TAKEN IT TO VALVOLINE IN BETWEEN OIL CHANGES FOR TOP OFFS BECAUSE THAT TICKING/RATTLING SOUND WHEN THE OIL IS LOW WAS HAPPENING. THEY RECENTLY TOLD ME THE EQUINOX IS NOTORIOUS FOR HIGH OIL CONSUMPTION AND OWNERS ARE HOPING FOR A RECALL. I HAVE CONSISTENTLY LOOKED FOR LEAKS BECAUSE THAT SEEMS TO BE MY LUCK WITH CARS. I NEVER SAW ONE UNTIL THE OTHER DAY AND IT APPEARS TO BE A REAR SEAL AS IT LEAKS ALMOST AT THE RATE OF AN OIL CHANGE DRAIN, BUT I WON'T ACTUALLY KNOW FOR SURE UNTIL THEY TAKE THE ENGINE APART. I AM BEYOND FRUSTRATED BECAUSE OF COURSE MY WARRANTY ON THE VEHICLE WAS UP ABOUT 3500 MILES AGO AND THIS IS CLEARLY A VERY EXPENSIVE REPAIR THAT ISN'T AT THE FAULT OF THE DRIVER BUT RATHER THE MANUFACTURER. ADDITIONALLY, I'M DRIVING A NEWBORN AND TWO OTHER CHILDREN AROUND IN A CAR THAT WILL RANDOMLY STALL OR POTENTIALLY COMBUST DUE TO ENGINE FAILURE AS A RESULT OF LACK OF OIL WITH NO WARNING FROM THE COMPUTER SYSTEM IN THE VEHICLE. THIS HAS HAPPENED IN THE VEHICLE MULTIPLE TIMES IN 3 YEARS ROUGHLY EVERY 25-30K MILES.
ON A COLD SUB 0 DEGREE DAY 1/5/2018 I WAS TRAVELING ON THE EXPRESSWAY AND WITHOUT WARNING THE VIHICAL A 2012 EQUINOX SUDDENLY STARTED SMOKING OUT THE EXHAUST PROFUSELY. AFTER A TOW INTO THE DEALER IT WAS FOUND THAT THE PCV VALVE STUCK CLOSED AND BUILT UP PRESSURE AND BLOW OUT THE REAR MAIN SEAL. A PROBLEM THAT GM HAS KNOWN ABOUT . ( SERVICE BULLETIN # 14882) THIS HAS COST ME ALMOST $3,100 AND COULD HAVE BEEN PREVENTED IF WHEN THE DEALERSHIP WHEN THEY TOOK THE VEHICLE IN ON TRAEDIN THEY FIXED THE KNOWN PROBLEM BEFORE THEY PUT THE VEHICLE OUT ON THE USED CAR LOT AND SELLING IT TO A UNSUSPECTING CUSTOMER LIKE ME WHO HAD NO KNOWLEDGE OF TO EVEN LOOK FOR THIS INFORMATION. I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE WITH 11200 MILES ON IT AND THE SERVICE BULLETIN COVERED IT TO 12000 THOUSAND MILE. IN CLOSING IT WAS VERY SCARY NOT KNOWING IF I WAS GOING TO MAKE IT OFF THE EXPRESSWAY IN THE MIDDLE OF RUSH HOUR AND VERY SHAMEFUL OF MATTHEW HARGREAVES DEALERSHIP FOR WITHHOLDING THIS INFORMATION AT THE TIME OF SALE. IF THEY DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT THE PROBLEM THE SHOULD HAVE AS IT IS THERE BRAND AND THEY ARE SUPPOSE TO BE HONEST RIGHT!!
2012 CHEVY EQUINOX WAS MAKING A KNOCKING NOISE TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC. IT WAS OUT OF OIL BEFORE MY OIL CHANGE WAS DUE. I HAD 1000 MILES LEFT BEFORE MY OIL CHANGE. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED WITHIN 6 MONTHS. CONTACTED GMC TODAY GOT S CASE NUMBER BUT HAVE TO WAIT FOR IT TO HAPPEN AGAIN AND TAKE IT TO A GMC DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THEN TODAY DURING A SNOW STORM MY WINDSHIELD WIPERS JUST STOPPED WORKING IT WAS A MESS TRYING TO GET HOME MAKING FREQUENT STOPS BECAUSE OF VISIBILITY.GMC SAID THERE ARE NO RECALL FOR THAT OR THE OIL CONSUMPTION BUT I SEE SO MANY COMPLAINTS ONLINE ABOUT ALL THESE ISSUES. NOT TO ADD THE PAINT IN THE INSIDE OF THE CAR DOORS AND TRUNK DOORS ARE RUSTING. THIS IS MY LAST GMC CAR GOING BACK TO HONDA.
PLUGGED PCV ORIFICE IN INTAKE MANIFOLD DURING COLD WEATHER, CAUSING A BLOWN REAR CRANKSHAFT SEAL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE SHUT DOWN AND THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 122,000.
THERE WAS AN ISSUE WITH A VALVE IN THE ENGINE THAT CAN BECOME PLUGGED IN COLD WEATHER. ONLY CERTAIN VIN'S WERE COVERED. MY VEHICLE HAD THE IDENTICAL PROBLEM AS THE ONES THAT WERE RECALLED HAD. HOWEVER, BECAUSE MY VIN WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL GM WOULD NOT COVER MY REPAIR COSTS.
I WAS ON MY LUNCH BREAK AT MY WORK, PARKED IN THE PARKING LOT WITH MY VEHICLE ON AND RUNNING. ALL OF A SUDDEN, MY VEHICLE SHUTS OFF AND WILL NOT TURN ON. COME TO FIND OUT IT'S SOMETHING TO DO WITH MY ENGINE. THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS 105,654 MILES ON IT AND HAD OIL. ONE PROBLEM WE KNOW SO FAR IS THAT THIS PARTICULAR ENGINE BURNED THROUGH OIL LIKE IT WAS NOTHING. I HAVEN'T EVEN OWNED THE CAR FOR A YEAR AND THIS HAPPENED. I'M HOPING THAT THIS ISN'T A WIDE SPREAD ISSUE.
EQUINOX VERY SUDDENLY STARTED RUNNING ROUGHLY AND MAKING A "KNOCKING" NOISE FROM THE ENGINE AND ACTED AS IF ENGINE WANTED TO STALL WHILE IDLING. LOW ENGINE OIL LIGHT CAME ON, WE STOPPED FOR OIL AND ADDED OIL. STARTED EQUINOX UP, LOW ENGINE OIL LIGHT WAS NO LONGER ON. DROVE THE EQUINOX FOR APPROXIMATELY TEN (10) MINUTES WHEN IT MADE A HORRENDOUS SHUDDERING NOISE, ENGINE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON STATING "STOP ENGINE NOW". WE PULLED OFF TO SIDE OF HIGHWAY. END RESULT: THE ENGINE WAS BLOWN AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT COST OF $8,000.00, FIVE MONTHS AFTER THE 5 YEAR WARRANTY EXPIRED. EQUINOX ONLY HAD 64,000 MILES ON IT AND OIL HAD BEEN CHANGED REGULARLY INCLUDING IN LATE AUGUST 2017. SUBSEQUENTLY CAME TO LEARN THAT GM HAS MANY ENGINE AND ENGINE OIL RELATED ISSUES WITH EQUINOXES DATING BACK TO 2011 AT LEAST. OUR EQUINOX HAD NOT BEEN SUBJECT TO ANY RECALLS.
The contact owns a 2012 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that the vehicle was consuming an excessive amount of engine. Additional oil was added weekly. The contact noticed that there was oil leaking on the ground. The dealer was made aware of the failure and performed an oil consumption test however, the vehicle was not repaired because it was over the warranty coverage. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to another dealer but offered no further assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 123,000.
MY VEHICLE WAS BURNING EXCESSIVE AMOUNTS OF OIL. I TOOK IT IN BECAUSE IT WAS RUNNING POORLY, THEY DISCOVERED IT WAS 3 QUARTS LOW ON OIL, AND THEN HAD ME TRACK MY OIL CONSUMPTION (BY CHECKING THE OIL ONCE A WEEK FOR 2,000 MILES). CHEVROLET HAD A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE (ONLY IF YOUR CAR WAS EXPERIENCING THIS) AND LUCKILY IT WAS COVERED TO BE FIXED. HOWEVER, BECAUSE OF THE EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION, I HAVE HAD OTHER ISSUES AND PROBLEMS WITH MY CAR. ALL DURING THE SAME TIME PERIOD, MY MANIFOLD CRACKED AND I NEED A NEW CATALYTIC CONVERTER. I DEFINITELY THINK (AND THE SERVICE ADVISOR AGREED) THAT THE REASON THAT MY EMISSIONS SYSTEM IS RUNNING INEFFICIENTLY, IS BECAUSE MY ENGINE WAS BURNING SO MUCH OIL. ALL OF THE OIL SOOT AND FUMES RUN THROUGH THE ENGINE AND EMISSION SYSTEM, THEREFORE CLOGGING UP MY CATALYTIC CONVERTER. SEEMS TO ME, THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER THE OIL CONSUMPTION RECALL. I CAN UNDERSTAND IF IT WERE ON A CASE TO CASE BASIS (JUST LIKE THE OIL CONSUMPTION RECALL IS), BUT IT SHOULD BE REPLACED IF YOUR CAR IS EXPERIENCING THOSE ISSUES. ALL STEMMING BACK TO THE OIL CONSUMPTION.
WHILE DRIVING AT OR AROUND 30 MPH ON A CITY STREET A POP WAS HEARD IN THE BACK OF THE CAR. AFTER PARKING, TO ASSESS WHAT HAPPENED, THE RIGHT QUARTER GLASS WAS FOUND TO HAVE SHATTERED, YET IT STAYED IN THE FRAME. TWO WEEKS PRIOR, THE CAR HAD BEEN IN A MINOR REAR-END BUMPER COLLISION WHICH LEFT MINIMAL SCRATCHES
MY 2012 CHEVY EQUINOX COMPLETELY SHUT OFF, WITHOUT ANY WARNING, WHILE I WAS DRIVING. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, NO OIL WARNING, NOTHING. THE VEHICLE JUST DIED, IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD AND WOULDN'T RESTART. IT HAS LESS THAN 50,000 MILES ON IT. I HEARD A KNOCKING/RATTLING FROM THE ENGINE IN SEPT., CHECKED THE OIL & IT WAS BONE DRY! ACCORDING TO LETTER 16118 FROM GM, I WAS TO TAKE MY VEHICLE TO A DEALERSHIP IF THIS HAPPENED. I DID, AND STARTED THE OIL CONSUMPTION TEST. GOT OIL TESTED 2 TIMES, ONCE IT WAS FINE, THE NEXT TIME IT WAS LOW. THE 3RD TIME I GOT IT CHECKED WAS WHEN IT WAS TOWED IN FROM MY EXPERIENCE LISTED ABOVE. I WAS A QUART LOW. NOW I HAVE A BLOWN-UP ENGINE AND THE DEALERSHIP WANTS ME TO PAY $750.00 FOR THEM TO TAKE APART THE ENGINE TO FIGURE OUT THE CAUSE. I'M ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTED WITH THIS ENTIRE SITUATION. GM KNOWS ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND IT'S A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN! I DON'T KNOW HOW GM CAN SIT BACK AND LET THEIR FAULTY VEHICLES BE DRIVEN ON OUR ROADWAYS PUTTING SO MANY PEOPLE IN DANGER! I DRIVE 40 MILES DAILY TO AND FROM WORK IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. CAN YOU IMAGINE THE DAMAGE THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN DONE TO MYSELF AND OTHERS IF THIS HAPPENED DURING THOSE TIMES? MYSELF OR OTHERS COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED! IS THAT WHAT IT'S GOING TO TAKE TO MAKE GM RECALL THESE VEHICLES?! AND GM JUST SUGGESTS AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST, THAT TAKES MONTHS AND MILES TO DIAGNOSE?! ALL WHILE LETTING PEOPLE DRIVE THEIR DRIVE UNSAFE VEHICLES?! GM NEEDS TO STEP UP AND MAKE A RECALL FOR THIS. STOP PUTTING SO MANY PEOPLE AT RISK FOR SOME VERY DANGEROUS SITUATIONS! THE DAY I CAME IN TO THE CHEVY DEALERSHIP WITH THIS COMPLAINT, THEY SHOULD HAVE TAKEN MY SAFETY AND OTHERS SAFETY INTO CONSIDERATION. THEY SHOULD HAVE HAD INSTRUCTIONS FROM GM TO INSPECT MY VEHICLE FREE OF CHARGE AND THEY SHOULD HAVE FIXED IT FREE OF CHARGE BECAUSE IT'S OBVIOUSLY A MANUFACTURING DEFECT.
MY TRUCK CONSUMES OIL EVERY WEEK, DEPENDING ON IF I DID HIGHWAY DRIVING OR NOT. I TOOK MY TRUCK IN FOR A OIL CONSUMPTION TEST AND THEY STATED EVERY THING WAS OK, BUT ITS NOT. I PUT OIL IN THIS TRUCK AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK. I WANTED TO TAKE THIS TRUCK ON THE ROAD BUT CANT NOT DUE IT USING EXCESSIVE OIL. I FEEL THAT TIM LALLY IS PLAYING GAMES. THEY KNOW THE PROBLEM BUT WONT FIX IT.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CAM SHAFT INJECTOR SENSOR FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED, BUT WAS TAKEN TO SANDMAN BROTHERS, INC. (56 E BROADWAY ST, SHELBYVILLE, IN 46176 (317) 392-3271) FOR A SECOND DIAGNOSIS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT CHEVROLET COULD NOT ASSIST BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT UNDER SPECIAL COVERAGE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 67,000.
"TAKATA RECALL" AIRBAG WAS EJECTED BUT IT WAS DEFLATED, OFFERING NO PROTECTION UPON IMPACT. VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION GOING STRAIGHT, GOING LESS THAN 30MPH SLOWING DOWN, WHEN VEHICLE IMPACTED ANOTHER CAR IN FRONT.
HAD MY CAR IN 3 TIMES IN THE LAST 6 MONTHS FOR WORK DONE. HAD THE MAIN REAR OIL SEAL REPLACED ALONG WITH THE CATALYTIC CONVERTERS FIRST TIME, SECOND TIME WAS AFTER I PICKED UP HAD TO TAKE IT BACK IN DUE TO A SEAL LEAKING AND LETTING EXHAUST INTO THE CABIN OF THE CAR WHERE THEY HAD THE CAR FOR OVER A WEEK BEFORE THEY EVEN CALLED ME BACK, THEN FINALLY THE THIRD HAD TO TAKE IT BACK IN ON NOV 13, 2017 DUE TO ANOTHER OIL LEAK IN THE CAR COMING FROM THE FRONT CRANKSHAFT SEAL. IT TOOK THE DEALER 10 DAYS AFTER I TOOK IT IN BEFORE I HEARD ANYTHING ON WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. I HAVE BEEN WITHOUT A CAR FOR THE PAST 18 DAYS AND NO OFFER OF A LOANER OR ANYTHING. THIS IS A LITTLE RIDICULOUS IN THAT THESE OIL LEAKS SEEM TO COME FROM THE SAME PROBLEM OF A PLUGED PCV VALVE CAUSING TO MUCH PRESSURE BUILD UP IN THE ENGINE AND CAUSES THE SEALS TO LEAK. ALL THE WORK WAS DONE UNDER WARRANTY, EXCEPT THE WORK ON THE FRONT CRANKSHAFT SEAL WHICH THEY WANT TO CHARGE ME FOR THE WORK. I HAVE ALSO HAD A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON THAT THEY SAID WAS FIXED WHEN THE REPLACED THE MAIN REAR OIL SEAL, BUT OBVIOUS IT DID NOT AND NOW THEY SAY IT HAS TO DO WITH THE EVAP SYSTEM. WHICH IS ONE THING I TOLD THEM WHEN I TOOK THE CAR IN THE FIRST TIME I TOOK IT IN.

MAJOR OIL CONSUMPTION CAUSING PARTS TO BREAK IN VEHICLE AND ENGINE TO GO. WAS TOLD BY DEALERSHIP THAT WHEN IT GOES YOU CAN BE STRANDED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD AND UNABLE TO MOVE VEHICLE AS IT WILL NOT RUN AT ALL. SPECIAL SERVICE VEHICLES ONLY GOOD FOR VEHICLES UNDER 120,000 MILES, BUT MANY PEOPLE RECEIVED LETTERS AFTER THAT MILEAGE. WAS TOLD TODAY BY A CHEVY DEALERSHIP IT WAS UNSAFE TO CONTINUE TO DRIVE MY VEHICLE UNLESS IT WAS FIXED. FIX IS OVER 1200 UNLESS IT TOTALLY RUINS YOUR VEHICLE OR GETS YOU KILLED WHEN THE VEHICLE STOPS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN LONG BEFORE PROBLEMS ACTUALLY OCCURRED, BUT WAS TOLD BECAUSE IT WAS A LITTLE OVER MILEAGE IT COULD NOT BE FIXED.
CAR ENGINE STUMBLED 5 TIMES THIS YEAR WHILE DRIVING IN THE CITY WHILE IN MOTION 35-45 MPH. WOULDN'T ACCELERATE. FEELS LIKE IT STAYS STUCK AND WONT MOVE. LAST INCIDENT 1 NOV 2017.
WE RECEIVED A "SATISFACTION" LETTER REGARDING THE OIL CONSUMPTION AND STABILITY LIGHT ON THIS VEHICLE. THE ENGINE BURNS OIL CONSTANTLY AND THE 2D CYLINDER MISFIRES DUE TO THIS. THE CAR HAS GONE INTO "LIMP" MODE SEVERAL TIMES AND WHEN IT DOES IT IDLES EXTREMELY HIGH AND WE HAVE TO TAKE THE WATER OUT OF THE RESERVOIR AND CHANGE THE SPARK PLUG IN ORDER FOR THE CAR TO "RESET". THIS IS NOT A "SATISFACTION" ISSUE; IT'S A SAFETY ISSUE AND WHEN I ADDRESSED THIS WITH CHEVY I WAS TOLD BECAUSE MY CAR HAS OVER 150K ON IT THAT IT DOES NOT QUALIFY FOR THE FIX OR REIMBURSEMENT. IF THIS WAS TRULY A SATISFACTION ISSUE I WOULD AGREE, HOWEVER A CAR THAT ROUTINELY GOES INTO "LIMP" MODE, IDLES EXTREMELY ROUGH AND BURNS OVER A QUART OF OIL EVERY WEEK QUALIFIES AS A SAFETY ISSUE TO ME. THIS PAST WEEKEND I HAD MY DAUGHTER AND GRANDDAUGHTER IN MY CAR ABOUT 1 HOUR FROM THE HOUSE WHEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN. IF TOOK ALMOST 2 HOURS TO GET HOME AND WHEN MY HUSBAND LOOKED AT THE CAR HE'S NOT SURE HIS "STANDARD" FIX WILL WORK THIS TIME AND WE'RE NOW FACED WITH AN UNEXPECTED PURCHASE OF EITHER A NEW CAR OR BEING REQUIRED TO SPEND SEVERAL THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS FOR A NEW ENGINE. THIS GOES BEYOND ANY SATISFACTION ISSUE THAT I'M AWARE OF AND HAVING TO DRIVE LESS THAN 40 MILES AN HOUR TO GET HOME IN BAD WEATHER WITH MY DAUGHTER AND GRANDDAUGHTER, WHO IS 18 MONTHS OLD IS SAFETY, NOT SATISFACTION. I WAS GOING 60 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY IN HEAVY RAIN AND MY WIPERS WENT OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD AND STOPPED WORKING, LEAVING ME STRANDED ON THE SHOULDER OF THE HIGHWAY. I WAS LUCKY THAT I MADE IT TO THE SHOULDER. IT WAS DARK OUT IN POURING RAIN WITH SEMI TRUCKS ALL AROUND ME. THIS HAPPENED LAST NIGHT, SO MY CAR IS STILL WAITING FOR REPAIR.
MY 2012 EQUINOX IS CURRENTLY DEAD AT A CHEVY DEALERSHIP. HERE IS THE HISTORY: ON OCTOBER 20, 2017 THE ENGINE OF MY 2012 EQUINOX BLEW AT 109,866 MILES WHEN KEY WAS TURNED. THE ENGINE BLEW BECAUSE WAS ABSOLUTELY NO OIL IN MY ENGINE AND NO LEAKS WERE PRESENT. I DID NOT SEE ANY LIGHTS SAYING THERE WAS AN OIL PROBLEM. IN FACT, MY DASHBOARD READ THAT I HAD ENOUGH OIL BEFORE THE NEXT OIL CHANGE WAS NEEDED. I RECENTLY PURCHASED AN OIL CHANGE ON SEPTEMBER 15, 2017 AT 108,500 MILES. I PROVIDED THE RECEIPT TO DEALERSHIP. I HAVE ALWAYS GOTTEN REGULAR OIL CHANGES. RECENTLY I HAD TO GET OIL CHANGES AND CHECKS MORE FREQUENTLY THAN GM RECOMMENDS DUE TO OIL MISSING FROM MY VEHICLE FOR NO APPARENT REASON OR EXPLANATION. BECAUSE I HAD TO PUT IN SO MUCH OIL, I WOULD OFTEN TAKE MY CAR IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE AT A LOCAL OIL CHANGE BUSINESS OR REQUEST MY FATHER TO CHANGE/ADD OIL INTO MY VEHICLE. I TRAVEL AROUND SE MI AND RELY ON MY VEHICLE FOR WORK, SO I DO NOT HAVE THE TIME OR EXTRA FUNDS TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TAKE MY VEHICLE INTO THE DEALERSHIP FOR MONTHLY OIL CHANGES AND TOP-OFFS (SEE BELOW). THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION, STALLING, REDUCED POWER ENGINE LIGHT CONTATLY COMING ON.
AFTER STARTING VEHICLE AND PUTTING INTO DRIVE, THE ELECTRONICS OF THE CAR SHUT OFF (THE RADIO, AIR CONDITION, SCREEN, POWER STEERING, ETC) AND THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS RE-STARTED; HOWEVER, THE SAME ISSUE OCCURED SEVERAL TIMES IN A ROW. THE VEHICLE WAS MOVED TO A PARKING LOT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP AND THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT CALLED TO INFORM THAT THE FUEL PUMP WAS LEAKING INTO THE FUEL OIL CRANKCASE (WHICH IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE 2010 AND 2011 CHEVROLET EQUINOX AND THERE IS AN EXISTING RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE).
ON MAY 21, 2017 WHILE DRIVING STRAING DOWN I-94 AT 70MPH IN DOWNPOUR THE BUSHING ON MY WINDSHIELD WIPER TRANSMISSION GAVE WAY, CAUSING MY WINDSHIELD WIPERS TO MALFUNCTION (WINDSHIELD WIPER ARMS FLEW OFF TO THE SIDE OF MY CAR, WINDSHIELD WIPERS WOULD NOT ENGAGE IN MOVEMENT). MY VISIBILITY WAS IMPAIRED REQUIRING ME TO CAREFULLY NAVIGATE TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD (HUSBAND & 2 SMALL CHILDREN AS PASSENGERS). I HAD TO WAIT UNTIL THE RAIN STOPPED TO SAFELY DRIVE. MY HUSBAND ATTEMPTED TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM BY REPLACING IT WITH A BUSHING FROM AUTOZONE. UNFORTUNATELY, THE REPLACEMENT BUSHING ALSO GAVE WAY & ON FRIDAY, OCTOBER 6, 2017 THE EVENT OCCURRED AGAIN WHILE DRIVING 55MPH ON M-106. AGAIN, I HAD TO PULL OF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TO WAIT FOR THE RAIN TO CLEAR. WE HAD SERVICE REPAIR DONE AT NORM'S AUTOMOTIVE IN SOUTH LYON WHERE HE REPLACED THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY ($400 IN REPAIRS). THERE IS A RECALL ON THIS SAME ISSUE IN CANADA, INCLUDING ONTARIO, WITH A WORK AROUND THAT ENTAILS PLUGGING A DRAIN HOLE & DRILLING A NEW DRAIN HOLE ABOVE THE CURRENT LOCATION TO PREVENT INCLEMENT WHETHER FROM CORRODING THE BUSHING ON THE WINDSHIELD WIPER TRANSMISSION. GENERAL MOTORS HAS DETERMINED THAT THIS ISSUE IS NOT "STATISTICALLY SIGNIFICANT" IN MICHIGAN.
VEHICLE HAS A SEVERE OIL LEAK CAUSED BY DEFECTIVE REAR MAIN SEAL. IT ONLY HAS 75000 MILES ON IT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS UNDERGOING AN OIL CHANGE, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE ENTIRE FRAME AND THE UNDERCARRIAGE WERE FRACTURED AND HAD HOLES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (TURNER BUICK GMC, 612 E MAIN ST, NEW HOLLAND, PA 17557) AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE REPAIR WOULD COST APPROXIMATELY $9,600. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AT 866-790-5600 AND STATED THAT GMC REFUSED TO COVER THE EXPENSE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 59,559.
I WAS DRIVING WITH MY WIFE AND DOG IN THE CAR LATE AT NIGHT IN COLD ICIEY CONDITIONS IN WYOMING. CAR BEGAN TO LOSE POWER DRAMATICALLY, STEERING WAS TIGHT, LIGHTS DIMMED, ALSO ENGINE STALLED AFTER A BIT A OF A SLIDE AND SAFELY PULLING OVER. WE COULD HAVE WRECKED IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE IN THE ICEY COLD TEMPERATURES. ENGINE LIGHT WAS ONE. TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT WAS ON. DASH READS 'SERVICE STABILITRAK' AND 'ENGINE POWER REDUCED !'. I COULD NOT GET THE CAR TO QUIT STALLING. I WASN'T SAFELY ABLE TO DRIVE IT. SO I THEN DID A ECU RESET. (DISCONNECT ECU AND BATTERY). SAT FOR 20 MINUTES. RESTARTED AND STILL SAME PROBLEM AFTER IT IDLED ROUGH FOR 5 MINUTES ROUGHLY. SO NEXT I DISCONNECTED THE ECU FUSE NUMBER 42 IN THE ENGINE FUSE BOX. I THEN TURNED KEY IN FIRST POSITION AND HAD SAME READINGS. NEXT I RESET THE CODE WITH MY OBD SCAN TOOL. REPEATED THE FUSE METHOD AGAIN... STILL SAME READING BUT WITHOUT STARTING THE MOTOR ONCE DURING THIS.... MY GUESS IS THE ECU IS VOLITIL TO THIS VEHICLE MOTOR CLASS. SERVICE BULLETIN STATES IT NEEDS A REFLASH. UPDATES FOR ENGINE OIL CONSUMPTION AS WELL. VERY INTERESTING AS WE CONSUME TOO MUCH OIL. I BELIEVE ALL MOTOR ISSUES IN OUR VEHICLE WE HAVE NOW (WORN PISTON RINGS ETC) ARE DUE TO A FAULTY ECU. THE FACT THAT THE WARNING SHOWS WHEN RESET AND NOT CONNECTED BECAUSE THE FUSE IS REMOVED PROVES TO ME THE ECU IS HAVING SOFTWARE ISSUE IN RENDERING PROPER DIAGNOSTICS AS WELL AS SAFE ENGINE PERFORMANCE. THIS INCIDENT TOOK PLACE IN AUGUST OF 2017. PROBLEM STILL PERSISTS IN DRY CLIMATES WHERE WE LIVE IN TEXAS. SAME ISSUES. SAME SYMPTOMS. NEW SENSORS, BATTERY, SPARK PLUGS AND OIL CHANGE REGULARLY. THIS VEHICLE IS UNSAFE AND WILL TAKE LIVES IF NOT RECALLED. IMAGINE DRIVING ON ICE WITH YOUR KIDS INSIDE AND THEN YOUR STEERING GOES OUT AND THE ENGINE LOSES POWER AND BRAKES.... IS THAT WHAT IT WILL TAKE?
VALVE ON ENGINE IS LOOSE CAUSING ENGINE TO RATTLE AND MAKE LOUD NOISES WHEN STARTING AND DRIVING. ENGINE IS SHAKING CAN'T AFFORD TO REPLACE ENGINE TOO MUCH MONEY JUST GOT THE CAR STILL OWE $14,000 ON THE CAR NOT UNDER WARRANTY ANY LONGER ACCORDING TO WARRANTY COMPANY.
FIRST ONE WEEK AGO, THE CAR WAS SLOW TO TURN ON WHEN TURNING THE IGNITION AND ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL LITE UP WITH THE MESSAGE CHECK POWER STEERING. TONIGHT 8/11/17 THE CAR WILL NOT TURN OVER, BUT IT STILL HAS A WORKING HORN, LIGHTS. AND RADIO. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON FOLLOWED BY SERVICE POWER STEERING, SERVICE STABILTRACK MESSAGE, ELECTRIC WINDOWS WOULD NOT ROLL UP, SPEEDOMETER AND RPM GAUGES MOVE ALL THE WAY OVER AND BACK, AND ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE ELECTRIC PANEL ARE ON. ENGINE WILL NOT TURN ON.
WHILE DRIVING HE VEHICLE IN A POURING RAIN THE WIPERS STOPPED WORKING AND I HAD TO SWERVE OFF THE ROAD BECAUSE I WAS TOTALLY BLINDED BY THE RAIN AND COULDN'T SEE. THE PROBLEM WAS THE WIPER LINKAGE TRANSMISSION AND IT COST OVER $300 TO REPLACE. THIS PART WAS RECALLED ON 2011 AND 2013 EQUINOXES AND NOT 2012. THE PIECE HAD CORRODED AND PART HAD FELL OFF. PLEASE REPORT THIS TO CHEVY AND RECALL FOR THE 2012'S PLEASE. VERY HARROWING EVENT WHEN THE WIPERS STOPPED.
MY CAR WILL NOT START WHEN I FILL IT WITH GAS. I HAVE TO PUSH THE GAS PEDAL TO THE FLOOR TO MAKE IT START AND THEN REV THE ENGINE SEVERAL TIMES OR IT WILL DIE AGAIN. IT WAS ALSO DYING AT STOP LIGHTS OR STOP SIGNS UNLESS I PUT IT IN NEUTRAL AND REVVED THE ENGINE. IT ALSO HAS STALLED WHEN INITIALLY TAKING OFF ONCE.
I HAVE HAD MY CAR FOR 2 YEARS AND IN TWO YEARS I HAVE HAD TO GET THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER REPLACED ALSO THE TENSIONER BELT THE O2 SENSORS AND A FEW OTHER THINGS REPLACED. MY CHEVY EQUINOX IS A LEMON AND A FEW OTHER PEOPLE I KNOW HAS SAID THE SAME THING I WISH I NEVER PURCHASED THIS CAR AND I'M STUCK WITH THE $14,000 LEMON THAT I CAN'T GET RID OF.

OCCURRING RANDOMLY, THOUGH SEEMINGLY ASSOCIATED WITH WEIGHT IN THE REAR CARGO AREA OF THE VEHICLE AND WHEN HITTING LARGER BUMPS IN THE ROAD WHILE HIGHWAY AND CITY DRIVING, THE LIGHTS WILL ILLUMINATE WITH DINGING ALERT. DURATION OF THE MESSAGE VARIES FROM A COUPLE OF SECONDS TO MINUTES BEFORE ALL LIGHTS EXTINGUISH. SERVICE CENTER REPORTED CODE C0045 - REPLACE L/R HUB BEARING ASSEMBLY, THOUGH VARIOUS REFERENCES ONLINE INDICATE THE SOLUTION FOR OTHERS ARE ALL OVER THE PLACE WITH SOME DEALERSHIP MAINTENANCE SHOPS TRYING MULTIPLE FIXES WITH NO AVAIL. HAS BEEN OCCURRING SINCE 2017.
EVERY TIME I STOP AT A STOP LIGHT OR A STOP SIGN MY CAR WILL START IDLING REALLY BAD AND WILL COME UP WITH THE CODE ENGINE STABILITY. IF I DO NOT PUT IT IN NEUTRAL THE CAR WILL STALL. IT DOES HAVE 131000 MILES ON IT AND I HAD TO REPLACE THE MANIFOLD TWICE AND THE TIMING BELTS, UPSTREAM 02 SENSOR AND HAVE HAD MY MECHANIC LOOK AT IT THREE TIMES. EVERY TIME HE HAS REPLACES SOME DIFFERENT SENSORS AND FOR THE FIRST FEW DAYS MY CAR WILL RUN THEN IT WILL PROGRESSIVELY GET WORSE AND I HAVE TO PUT MY CAR IN NEUTRAL TO GET IT TO STOP BUT EVEN IN NEUTRAL IT WILL STILL IDLE.
