I WAS DRIVING HOME AND I WAS ON A MAJOR FREEWAY. IT WAS POURING DOWN RAINING AND I HIT THE WINDSHIELD WIPER GEAR TO SPEED IT UP BECAUSE I COULD NOT SEE. LUCKILY I DID NOT GET HURT ON THE FREEWAY. IT JUST SPEED UP AND STOPPED ALL OF A SUDDEN ON THE LEFT. IMMEDIATELY HAD TO SLOW DOWN AND HIT MY HAZARD LIGHT. I EVENTUALLY STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FREEWAY TO FOLD THE WIPERS DOWN JUST TO SEE IF THEY ONLY GOT STUCK. NO LUCK.....THEY STOPPED WORKING. OH AND IM ALSO IN THE LINE CLOSEST TO THE EXIT. THERE WAS MODERATE TRAFFIC AND CAR WAS IN MOTION.
VEHICLE MAKING A RATTLING SOUND FOR A FEW DAYS WHEN DRIVING AT LOW SPEED AND STOPPED WHEN AT HIGH RATE OF SPEED ON ALL ROADS. LOW OIL LIGHT NEVER INDICATED OIL WAS LOW. IT WAS STILL AT 8 PERCENT WHEN I TOOK IT IN AND HAD MILES TO GO UNTIL MY NEXT OIL CHANGE. I NEVER GO OVER THE MILES AND ALWAYS CHANGE MY OIL. THE MECHANIC INDICATED IT WAS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH CHEVY EQUINOX TO BURN EXCESSIVE OIL AND TO EVENTUALLY HAVE TO REPAIR THE PISTONS OR ENGINE. CALLED [XXX] WHERE I BOUGHT IT AND SEVERAL OTHER CHEVY SUVS AND THEY SAID MY VIN ISN'T COVERED UNDER THE 150000 WARRANTY FOR THIS KNOWN PROBLEM. HE ADVISED IT DIDN'T COME OUT OF THE FACTORY THAT WAS KNOWN FOR THIS PROBLEM. I TOLD HIM THEIR IS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT FOR THIS EXACT PROBLEM AND INDICATED VEHICLES FROM 2010 - 2017 ARE ALSO HAVING THIS PROBLEM. THAN, HE CHANGED HIS TUNE ON NOTHING HE COULD DO AND OFFERED TO MONITOR MY OIL EVERY 1000 MILES AND IF IT'S BURNING EXCESSIVE OIL AND NEEDS PISTONS OR A NEW ENGINE DUE TO THIS IT WILL BE MY COST. WINDSHIELD WIPERS STOPPED WORKING IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING WHILE IT WAS RAINING. *TR
YESTERDAY, WHILE DRIVING HOME ON A ROAD DURING A DOWNPOUR, MY WINDSHIELD WIPERS, WHICH WERE TURNED ON ABRUPTLY STOPPED. I'M NOT SURE WHAT'S WRONG WITH THEM, BUT I'M HOPING TO FIGURE OUT SOON. THE WIPERS SOUND LIKE THEY'RE STARTING, BUT DON'T MOVE. I'VE BEEN INFORMED THAT THERE'S CURRENTLY AN INVESTIGATION INTO 2013-2016 CHEVY WIPER ISSUES, SO I WANTED TO MAKE SURE THAT YOU WERE INFORMED ABOUT MINE AS WELL. 2015 CHEVY EQUINOX. I CAN SUPPLEMENT IF NEED BE WHEN I GET MORE INFORMATION ON WHAT HAPPENED. *TR
END OF LAST YEAR MY CAR DIED WHILE DRIVING. IT HAD NO OIL. AFTER PUTTING OIL STILL WOULD NOT START. THERE WERE NO WARNINGS FROM CAR THAT IT WAS LOW ON OIL. IT WAS IN MIDDLE OF TIME FOR NEXT OIL CHANGE. I LOOKED UP RECALLS AND THERE WAS NONE. I PUT IN COMPLAINT. THERE WAS LIKE 9 COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER PEOPLE DESCRIBING THE EXACT SAME THING. I REPLACED MOTOR WITH A USED ONE CAUSE I AM ON DISABILITY AND THAT'S ALL I COULD AFFORD. MY FIRST MOTOR HAD 115,000 MILES ON IT. AFTER REPLACING MOTOR, I HAVE BEEN CHECKING OIL REGULARLY AFRAID WOULD HAPPEN AGAIN SINCE SAME TYPE MOTOR. SURE ENOUGH BEEN HAVING TO ADD 2 QUARTS EVERY COUPLE MONTHS IN BETWEEN OIL CHANGES. THERE IS NO TRACE OF OIL LEAKING LIKE LAST MOTOR, NONE ON CONCRETE IN DRIVEWAY. I DON'T DRIVE VERY MUCH, AVERAGE DISTANCE IS 20 MILES OR LESS ROUND TRIP FEW TIMES WEEK. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THERE ISN'T A RECALL ON THIS MOTOR AND WHY NO NOTIFICATIONS THAT IT IS LOW ON OIL SINCE THERE ISN'T AN OIL GAUGE IN CAR. *TR
BUSHING FAILED IN FRONT WIPER MECHANISM. WIPER STOPPED MID-CYCLE WHEN SWITCHED DOWN FROM HIGHEST SETTING. IN HEAVY RAIN. MECHANIC COULD NOT GET REPLACEMENT BUSHING TO FIT - ENTIRE MECHANISM MUST BE REPLACED (MOTOR CAN BE SALVAGED). MECHANIC'S ATTEMPT TO GET BUSHING TO FIT SEEMED TO FINALLY WORK, BUT FAILED ON FIRST TEST IN SAME WAY AS BEFORE. BIG HASSLE FOR SMALL PART. *TR
MY PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG WILL GO OFF SAYING IT IS NOT WORKING EVEN WHEN PEOPLE ARE SITTING IN IT. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD AND SHOULD BE A COVERED COST AT GM SHOULD REPAIR AND NOT THE CONSUMER.
HEAD GASKET DEFECT. *TR
WENT ON 1,000 MILE TRIP AND CAR DIED. WAS ABLE TO JUMP IT EVERY TIME AND IT STARTED. RETURN TRIP OF ANOTHER 1,000 MILES. CAR WAS CHUGGING WHILE PARKED. LATER ENGINE WAS MAKING A RATTLING SOUND. PUT IT IN REVERSE TO PARK AND ENGINE DIED. MADE A TERRIBLE NOISE WHEN TRYING TO START IT. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THAT THE TIMING CHAIN CAUSED ENGINE TO FAIL AND ALSO OIL WAS COMPLETELY DRY. I GET MY VEHICLE SERVICED REGULARLY BY RANDY REED CHEVROLET IN ST. JOSEPH, MO (FREE OF CHARGE SINCE PURCHASING THE VEHICLE 2 YEARS AGO) WAS NEVER ONCE TOLD OF AN OIL BURNING ISSUE. AFTER DOING RESEARCH I FIND IT SHOCKING THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS MAKE AND MODEL OF CAR. THIS VEHICLE IS ONLY 5 YEARS OLD AND SHOULD NOT HAVE A FAILING ENGINE! NOW I'M STUCK MAKING PAYMENTS ON A CAR I CAN NOT EVEN USE WITH REPAIRS THAT COST AS MUCH AS ANOTHER CAR. *TR
I WAS DRIVING WITH MY WIFE AND CHILD AND SUDDENLY IT STARTED TO RAIN. IT WAS A DOWN POUR SO I TURNED ON THE WIPERS AND THEN AFTER A FEW SECS THE WIPERS STOPPED WORKING. I HAD TO PULL OVER AND STOP DRIVING UNTIL THE RAIN CLEARED. LUCKILY I DIDN'T GET INTO AN ACCIDENT BUT NOT TO SAY SOMEONE ELSE HASN'T DUE TO THIS ISSUE. *TR
DURING HEAVY, HEAVY RAIN ON A BUSY HIGHWAY AT 65MPH, THE WIPERS STOPPED WORKING RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE DRIVER. I ALMOST GOT HIT TRYING TO GET OFF THE HIGHWAY BECAUSE I HAD NO VISIBILITY.*DT*JB
WHILE DRIVING IN THE MIDDLE IF A STORM, THE WIPERS STOPPED IN THE UP POSITION. THIS WAS INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS, EVEN TO JUST PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. CHECKED THE FUSES AND NOTHING HAD BLOWN. CAN'T GET THEM WORKING AT ALL. HAVE SCHEDULED A VISIT TO THE DEALERSHIP, PROVIDED IT'S NOT RAINING. *TR

HAD TO GET HOME; HAD TO DRIVE VERY SLOW WITH EMERGENCY LIGHTS ON AFTER THE INITIAL NEAR DEATH EXPERIENCE. WE COULD HAVE DIED THAT DAY. DOES ACTUAL DEATH INITIATE A RECALL? FIRST THE SERVICE AIRBAG LIGHT COMES ON AND NONE OF THE BUTTONS ON THE STEERING WHEEL WORK. NOW THE HORN IS CONTINUOUSLY BLOWING WHILE DRIVING, AND WON'T STOP UNTIL THE CAR IS TURNED OFF. *TR
My vehicle uses 2 quarts of oil everytime I fill up with gasoline. It is a safety issue that could cause the motor to fail in traffic putting my family and others who might be on the road at risk. When I purchased this vehicle it had 36,000 miles and it was low on oil and has used excessive amounts of oil since ever since. I have seen problems were addressed with other years of equinoxes with a 2.4 L ecotech motor and think this one should be added to the list also. Obviously GM is not going to address these issues so maybe some prodding from you all can help. thanks
WHILE IN MY GARAGE I GO GET INTO MY 2015 CHEVY EQUINOX LTZ. I START IT UP AND THEN ON THE DIC A MESSAGE SHOWED SAYING SERVICE AIR BAG. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY IN A RAIN STORM MY WIPERS STOPED WORKING. MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO DRIVE SAFELY. WIPERS WOULDN'T GO ON NO MATTER IF I TURNED THEM ON HIGH OR LOW.
WHILE DRIVING THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS SUDDENLY STOPPED IN THE UP POSITION. THIS OCCURRED WHEN IT WAS RAINING. I WAS UNABLE TO CONTINUE AND HAD TO PULL OVER ON THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY. THE SITUATION WAS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT AND DANGEROUS.
I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM CHICAGO TO INDIANA WHEN ON THE EXPRESSWAY DRIVING IN THE RAIN MY WIPER JUST STOPPED. SO I HAD TO PULL OVER ON THE SHOULDER LUCKY I DIDNT GET INTO AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE IT WAS RAINING HARD.

CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON GOT A NOTIFICATION FROM ONSTAR STATING THAT ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION SYSTEM ISSUE HAS BEEN DETECTED. ALSO WHEN I SHUT DOWN MY VEHICLE AND RESTARTED IT THE STARTER KEEP MAKING THIS SOUND LIKE IT WANTED TO START AND DID NOT THEN DID. THEN I GOT A MESSAGE ON THE DASH SAYING THAT SOMETHING WAS WRONG WITH POWER STEERING.
MY WINDSHIELD WIPERS WERE ENGAGED WHILE I WAS DRIVING AND THEY STOPPED WORKING. I CAN HEAR NOISE FROM THE WIPERS BUT THEY WON'T MOVE. I CAN EASILY MOVE THEM EITH MY HAND.
THE CAR RADIO SHUTS OFF AND COMES BACK ON AFTER ABOUT 10-15 SECONDS. SO FAR IT HASN'T CAUSED ANY PROBLEMS BUT WHEN WE TRAVEL I'VE COME TO DEPEND ON THE NAVIGATION SYSTEM AND WOULDN'T WANT IT TO DO THIS WHEN A DIRECTION COMES UP. MY VEHICLE HAD TURNED OFF WHILE DRIVING IT SPUTTERED A BIT THE SHUT OFF.. I STARTED IT BACK UP THEN I DROVE HOME AND TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP THE FOLLOWING DAY. VEHICLE BATTERY DIES, CAR DIES. NO THEM OR REASON TO IT. IT WILL NOT START. BATTERY IS LESS THAN A YEAR OLD. TRY TO START THE VEHICLE AND NOTHING, NO INTERIOR LIGHTS RADIO, NOTHING. OTHER TIMES IT WILL LET THE INTERIOR LIGHTS COME ON AND JUST CLICKS. THIS IS AFTER THE CAR HAS SAT FOR 2-3 DAYS AND NOT DRIVING OR GOING ANYWHERE DUE TO THE CORONA VIRUS. WENT OUT THE NEXT DAY, STARTED FINE. WE EVEN TRIED JUMPING THE CAR OFF FROM ANOTHER VEHICLE AND IT WOULDN'T EVEN CLICKED IT WAS TRYING TO START. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES OVER THE LAST YEAR. RESULTING IN REPLACING THE BATTERY. NOW IT'S STILL HAPPENING AND THE BATTERY IS LESS THAN A YEAR OLD. *TR
POWER DRIVER SEAT MOTOR GOES OUT. DOOR SEALS NOT GOOD, WATER POURS OUT WHEN YOU OPEN DOOR AFTER IT RAINS. *TR
THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS BEEN ON SINCE THE END OF MARCH 2020. MY MECHANIC IS UNABLE TO FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM. NO CODES COME UP ON THE COMPUTER FOR DIAGNOSING THE PROBLEM. 2 SENSORS HAVE BEEN CHANGED. TOOK IT INTO THE MECHANIC'S YESTERDAY AND THERE WAS LITTLE TO NO OIL IN THE VEHICLE. I WAS JUST DUE FOR AN OIL CHANGE. THE ENGINE MAKES A RATTLING SOUND WHEN IT IS STARTED UP. VERY FRUSTRATED BECAUSE I HAVE NOT HAD PROBLEMS WITH 4 OTHER GM VEHICLES THAT I HAVE PURCHASED IN THE PAST. THIS IS THE FIRST PROBLEM VEHICLE THAT I HAVE EVER OWNED. I DO NOT WANT TO OWN ANOTHER CHEVY AGAIN.
PCV UNIT BLEW UP AND BLEW OIL OUT THE BACK OF MY ENGINE. IT'S A COMMON PROBLEM WITH MANY AND GM WONT FIX THE PROBLEM. EVEN THE EXTRA NEW CAR INSURANCE PLAN WE BOUGHT WONT COVER IT. THIS CAR IS ONLY 5YRS OLD

WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD ON MARCH 9 2020 THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS STOPOED WORKING. YOU COULD HEAR THE MOTOR PART RUNNING BUT THEY WERE NOT MOVING ABD IT WAS RAINING. VERY SCARY. WE WERE ABLE TO GET TO AN AUTO PART STORE AND BUY RAIN X UNTIL WE COULD GET TO A SHOP. MECHANIC REVEAL THE BUSHINGS WERE WORN AND POPPED OFF. BUSINGS COULD NOT BE REPLACED SO A NEW TRANSMISSION HAD TOBE REPLACED TOTAL $186.00
TIMING CHAIN FAILED AND TRASHED THE ENGINE... 3 MONTHS OUTSIDE OF WARRANTY BUT EVERYONE WE'VE TALKED TO FROM CAR DEALERSHIPS, RENTAL CAR COMPANIES, MECHANICS, TOW SHOPS ETC ALL SAID WHEN I TOLD THEM MY TIMING CHAIN FAILED AND TRASHED THE ENGINE YOU KNOW WHAT ALL OF THEM SAID? IS IT A CHEVY EQUINOX?
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 CHEVROLET EQUINOX 2015. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN DRIVING AT 50 MPH, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED PULLED OVER, TURNED OFF THE ENGINE AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE RESTATED HOWEVER, AFTER A FEW MINUTES THE VEHICLE STALLED AS A SMALL PUFF OF SMOKE APPEARED IN THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DETERMINED THAT THE ENGINE HAD BURNT AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE ENGINE WAS NOT REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 175,000.
ALWAYS HAD CAR SERVICED REGULARLY, OIL CHANGED. AT 99K, REDUCED ENGINE POWER, SERVICE STABLI TRACK, ENGINE MAKING CLICKING SOUND, ACCELERATING AT FIRST WOULD MAKE A STRANGE HUM SOUND AND THEN IT REDUCED ENGINE POWER WHEN I HAD MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR. TOOK IT TO OUR LOCAL MECHANIC AND THEY SAID I NEED A NEW TIMING CHAIN, BONE DRY FOR OIL, SOLENOID VALVES IT NEEDED NEW ONES....END RESULT, PRETTY MUCH A WHOLE NEW ENGINE, COST ME ALMOST 3000 TO PAY. I HAD NO CHOICE BECAUSE IT WAS MY ONLY VEHICLE AND IM A SINGLE MOTHER WITH 2 KIDS. READING OTHER PEOPLES COMPLAINTS, THIS IS A MAJOR ISSUE AND ONLY A RECALL FOR 2011-2013 ONLY?? HOW HAS THIS NOT BEEN ADDRESSED AS OF YET? I WILL BE REACHING OUT TO GM ABOUT THIS BECAUSE I HAD NO WARNING LIGHTS UNTIL THE LAST SECOND WHEN MY CAR PRETTY MUCH STOPPED ON THE INTERSTATE WITH MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR.
VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY AND WIPERS BROKE WHEN TURNED ON
MY TRANSMISSION HAS GONE OUT CAUSING MY CAR TO STALL AND NOT ACCELERATE FOUR TIMES SINCE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. ALSO THE ENTIRE COMPUTER SYSTEM JUST SHUT DOWN AND MY VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. WINDSHIELD WIPERS FLY OFF FREQUENTLY. MY TRANSMISSION ISSUE HAS HAPPENED ON MAJOR FREEWAYS THREE TIMES NOW CAUSING ME TO STALL AND SIT ON THE SIDE OF FREEWAY UNTIL TOW TRUCK BECAME AVAILABLE.
I WAS DRIVING ON I-285 IN ATLANTA DURING A HEAVY RAIN STORM ON MY WAY TO WORK AT 6:15AM. AS I WAS APPROACHING THE I-20 EAST EXIT MY WINDSHIELD WIPERS GOT STUCK. PLEASE NOTE, THE I-20 EAST EXIT IS LOCATED ON THE FAR LEFT LANE OF THE I-20 EXPRESSWAY. I QUICKLY TRIED TURNING THE WINDSHIELD WIPER ON/OFF TO SEE IF IT WOULD RESET, BUT THERE WAS NO MOVEMENT. THE HEAVY RAINS/STORM COMPLETELY BLOCKED MY VISIBILITY. I USED MY RIGHT SIDE VIEW MIRROR AND REAR VIEW MIRROR TO CROSS FIVE LANES ACROSS I-285. AS I HAD MADE MY WAY TO THE RIGHT SIDE OF I-285, THERE WAS NOT A SHOULDER LANE. I HAD TO STOP THE VEHICLE AND TURNED ON MY INTERMITTENT LIGHTS TO PREVENT FROM BEING REAR ENDED. WHEN THE RAIN SLOWED DOWN AND I QUICKLY GOT OFF THE NEXT EXIT ON I-20 WEST AND PARKED ON THE SHOULDER LANE AS I EXITED OFF THE RAMP. MY HUSBAND PICKED ME UP FROM THE HIGHWAY BECAUSE I WAS NERVOUS AND SCARED. MY VEHICLE WAS PARKED UNTIL THE RAIN STOPPED 2.5 HOURS LATER BECAUSE IT WAS NOT DRIVABLE DUE TO THE HEAVY RAIN/STORM. I CHECKED IF THERE WAS A RECALL FOR MY VEHICLE AND COULD NOT LOCATE ANY RECALLS FOR WINDSHIELD WIPER PROBLEMS FOR THE YEAR OF MY VEHICLE. THERE WERE RECALLS FOR PREVIOUS MODEL YEARS. AS SOON AS THE RAIN STOPPED, MY HUSBAND TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY CONFIRMED THERE WERE NO ACTIVE RECALLS. I WAS ALSO NOT INFORMED BY CHEVROLET ABOUT THE POTENTIAL ISSUE. AFTER MY EXPERIENCE, I DID SOME RESEARCH AND DISCOVERED NOTICED MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS REGARDING THE SAME ISSUE VIA THIS SITE AND OTHER CHAT GROUPS. THE DEALER REPLACED THE WINDSHIELD WIPER MODULE AND I WAS NOT CHARGED FOR THE SERVICE. I AM REPORTING THIS INCIDENT BECAUSE OWNERS / DRIVERS OF THE 2015 CHEVROLET EQUINOX SHOULD NOT LEARN ABOUT THIS SAFETY HAZARD THE SAME WAY I LEARNED ABOUT IT. THE EXPERIENCE WAS A SCARY ONE THAT I AM THANKFUL DID NOT TURN INTO AN ACCIDENT OR A TRAGIC EVENT.

I RECEIVED A NOTICE FROM GM ON MY 2015 CHEVROLET EQUINOX ON 2/6/20 STATING THAT THERE MAY BE A CONDITION WHERE A LINK BALL SOCKET IN THE WIPER TRANSMISSION MAY SEPARATE. IF THIS WERE TO OCCUR, THE DRIVER WOULD EXPERIENCE A SUDDEN LOSS OF WIPER FUNCTION! AFTER TALKING WITH GM AND THE DEALER, WAS TOLD THIS DOES NOT CONSTITUTE A RECALL. I STRONGLY DISAGREE!
WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AT NIGHT ABOUT 70 MPH IN A VERY HEAVY RAIN MY WIPERS STOPPED WORKING IT WAS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION I HAD TO LEAVE MY CAR ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TILL THE NEXT DAY AND THANK GOD IT WASN'T RAINING.
CAR IS BURNING OIL AT ABNORMALLY FAST RATE. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING WITH QUART OF OIL IN MY CAR AT ALL TIMES SINCE FINDING OUT ABOUT EXISTING PROBLEM WITH EARLIER MODEL YEAR VEHICLES AND NOTICING THE PATTERN IN MY VEHICLE. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND REDUCED ENGINE POWER NOTIFICATION CAME ON WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY. THE STABILITY TRACK NOTIFICATION CAME ON AS WELL. I AM NOW BEING TOLD BY LOCAL MECHANIC THAT I MAY NEED A NEW ENGINE. I WAS INFORMED BY LOCAL DEALERSHIP THAT TIMING SHAFT AND ACTUATOR MAY NEED TO BE REPLACED JUST TO GET THE CAR TO START. THE UNDERLYING PROBLEM IS THE SAME AS THE EXISTING PROBLEM IN CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT FOR 2010-2013 MODELS. CHEVROLET HAS BUILT AN ENGINE THAT DOESN'T WORK AND THEY NEED TO PAY FOR THIS. HOW MANY COMPLAINTS DOES THERE NEED TO BE BEFORE SOMETHING IS DONE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO DOWNSHIFT AND UPSHIFT. IN ADDITION, WHILE THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, THE VEHICLE DELAYED TO STOP EXTENDING THE BRAKING DISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO TUCKER CHEVROLET LOCATED AT (1340 US-1, WALDOBORO, ME 04572) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE SHIFTER KNOB NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE NEEDED TO BE RESET, AND THE TRANSMISSION FLUID NEEDED TO BE FLUSHED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,460.
WIPERS STOPPED WORKING DURING HEAVY RAIN ON THE HIGHWAY. I UNDERSTAND THE WIPER TRANSMISSION IS A PROBLEM WITH THE EQUINOX.
DRIVING IN RAIN AT NIGHT WHEN WIPERS SUDDENLY STOPPED. CHECKED FUSES, NO SUCCESS. HAD TO REPLACE WIPER MOTOR.
ON ~1/15/20 I WAS DRIVING ~40 MPH ON A SUBURBAN STREET, I HAD JUST GOTTEN OFF A HIGHWAY, A WARNING APPEARED ON MY DASH STATING THAT MY VEHICLE HAD NO OIL AND TO STOP AND TURN OFF THE VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY. I DROVE ONE BLOCK TO A GAS STATION AND PUT 2 QUARTS OF OIL IN THE VEHICLE BUT AFTER LOOKING UNDER THE TRUCK, I SAW THAT A GREAT DEAL OF OIL LEAKED RIGHT ONTO THE GROUND. I MADE A SPLIT DECISION TO PUT ANOTHER QUART IN AND DRIVE ~2 MILES TO A NEARBY REPAIR SHOP I USE. MY TRUCK WAS ASSESSED AND I WAS INFORMED THAT I HAD A MAJOR OIL LEAK. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE CHEVY DEALERSHIP TO BE REPAIRED ON 1/21/20. THE DEALERSHIP TOOK 8 DAYS TO REPAIR MY TRUCK AND HAD NO LOANER VEHICLE FOR ME TO USE DURING THE REPAIR. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH, I FOUND THAT THIS SAME ISSUE HAS BEEN REPORTED MANY TIMES BY OTHER CHEVY OWNERS WITH THE SAME VEHICLE MAKE AND MODEL.
I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO MY MECHANIC FOR SOME MINOR WORK & HE FOUND A MUCH BIGGER PROBLEM. MY TIMING CHAIN IS MAKING ALOT OF NOISE & HE TOLD ME IT WILL RUIN MY ENGINE. MY ENGINE ONLY HAS JUST OVER 95, 000 MILES ON IT. WHAT CAN BE DONE ABOUT THIS ISSUE?

DRIVING AT NIGHT IN RAIN STORM, POURING DOWN RAIN, WIPERS STOPPED WORKING MID SWING. I WAS ON A DARK HIGHWAY 15 MILES FROM ANY WHERE, TURNED AROUND AND HEADED HOME, TRAFFIC WAS NON STOP ,I WAS SCARED TO DEATH.
2015 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 60 MPH WHEN SUNROOF SHATTERED. I HEARD A LOUD NOISE AND DID NOT SEE ANYTHING THAT COULD HAVE HIT MY CAR. I PULLED THE COVER BACK ON THE SUNROOF TO SEE IF I COULD SEE WHAT HAPPENED. THE ONLY THING I COULD SEE WAS GLASS CRACKED INTO A MILLION PIECES. THE SUNROOF SHATTERED OUT OF NO WHERE. GLASS FLEW OFF THE TOP OF MY SUV WHILE OTHER DRIVERS WERE BEHIND ME, WHICH PUT MANY DRIVERS IN DANGER. FIRST MY WIPERS STOP WORKING OUT OF THE BLUE AND NOW MY SUNROOF SHATTERS. THESE VEHICHLES ARE DEFECTIVE AND NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. RECALLS SHOULD BE ISSUED FOR THE 2015 CHEVROLET EQUINOX IN THE UNITED STATES BEFORE SOMEONE IS SERIOUSLY INJURED OR LOOSES THEIR LIFE.
MY VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY NOT DRIVABLE. ON SATURDAY 2021 WE HAD IT TOWED TO OUR MECHANIC BECAUSE IT WOULD NOT START. WE HAVE BEEN INFORMED BY TWO MECHANICS THAT OUR ENGINE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THEY SAID THAT MY ENGINE BURNS AN EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF OIL WHICH IS WHAT CAUSED IT TO GO BAD. BOTH MECHANICS STATED THAT THEY HAD TO REPLACE THIS 2.4L ENGINE IN A MULTITUDE OF CHEVY EQUINOX'S AND GMC TERRAINS. ONE OF THE MECHANICS HAD BOTH A CHEVY EQUINOX AND A GMC TERRAIN AT ONE POINT AND HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH BOTH OF THEM. I RESEARCHED THIS PROBLEM AND IT IS IN FACT VERY COMMON AND GM KNOWS ABOUT IT. I PERSONALLY HAD 20 PEOPLE REACH OUT TO ME AND SAID THAT THEY OR SOMEONE THEY KNEW HAD THE EXACT THING HAPPEN TO THEM. IF THIS IS SUCH A WIDE SPREAD ISSUE THEN GM NEEDS TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR FAULTY ENGINES. IT COSTS $6300 DO REPLACE AN ENGINE. THAT IS A LOT OF MONEY THAT INNOCENT PEOPLE SHOULD NOT HAVE TO SPEND JUST BECAUSE GM IS CHOOSING TO BRUSH THIS UNDER THE RUG.THIS IS A SAFETY RISK. MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT ONE POINT AND OUR CHEVY EQUINOX JUST SHUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE LANE BECAUSE OF THIS ENGINE PROBLEM. HE COULD HAVE BEEN HIT AND KILLED. IS IT GOING TO TAKE THAT TO HAPPEN FOR GM TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR SOMETHING THEY KNOW VERY WELL IS A PROBLEM?
