TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. WHILE, DRIVING AT 60 MPH, THE STABILITY TRACK WARNING LIGHT, DECREASE ENGINE POWER (LIMP MODE) AND OIL PRESSURE WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE LOST MOTIVE POWER AND STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THE REAR SEAL AND PVC NEEDED TO BE FLUSHED AND TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REMOVED. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FAILURE WAS NOT COVERED UNDER TSB 14882. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 81,000.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN A TWO WAY ROAD WHEN IT STARTED POURING ALL OF A SUDDEN LIKE IT TENDS TO DO WHERE I LIVE. I TURNED ON MY WIPERS AND THEY ONLY WORKED FOR A COUPLE OF MINUTES BEFORE THE PASSENGER SIDE WIPER TURNED PAST THE WINDSHIELD AND GOT STUCK IN THAT POSITION. I COULD NOT SEE A THING AND HAD TO PULL OVER UNTIL THE RAIN STOPPED, THIS IS WAY TOO DANGEROUS. I'M LUCKY THIS DIDN'T HAPPEN WHILE ON THE FREEWAY. I TRIED TO TURN THE WIPERS ON AND THEY WOULD NOT MOVE. WHY HASN'T GM ADDRESSED THIS ISSUE? I READ THAT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR 2013 MODELS AND IN CANADA THEY RECALLED MODELS UP TO 2016.
EVER SINCE WE GOT OUR VEHICLE IT USES OIL, SINCE MORE MILES HAVE GOTTEN ON THE SAID VEHICLE IT'S USING MORE OIL! OIL ISN'T CHEAP, I PUT MORE OIL IN MY 2015 EQUINOX THAN MY HUSBAND PUTS IN OUR 2004 DODGE RAM AND IT BURNS OIL BUT LESS THAN MY EQUINOX! I'M HAVING TO CHECK OIL LEVEL EVERYDAY BECAUSE OF THIS, MY HUSBAND AND I JUST HAD THE OIL CHANGED ON 10/3/2020 AND TODAY 10/5/2020 I'VE HAD TO ADD 1/2 OF A QUART OF OIL! I DON'T KNOW WHERE IT IS GOING TO BUT I'M STUCK WITH THIS CAR FOR QUITE AWHILE AND HONESTLY IT'S NOT WORTH IT AS MUCH OIL AS IT'S USING. NOW I'VE SEEN COMPLAINTS OVER OLDER MODELS HAVING A LAWSUIT AGAINST WHOMEVER FOR OIL CONSUMPTION ON THEIRS AND IN ALL HONESTY I'M NOT SURE IF THIS IS THE DIRECTION I NEED TO HEAD OR WHAT BUT SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT THIS!!
CAR IS ONLY 4 YEARS OLD AND HAS CHEVY SERVICE DEPARTMENT CERTIFIED BAD TIMING BELT. CAR HAS VERIFIABLE ROUTINE MAINTENANCE UPKEPT. THIS IS LIKELY A MANUFACTURE'S DEFECT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 CHEVROLET EQUINOX EQUIPPED WITH MICHELIN LATITUDE TOUR TIRES, SIZE: T225/65R17 (NA). WHILE THE CONTACT'S WIFE WAS DRIVING 60 MPH, SHE HEARD AN ABNORMAL POPPING NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR PASSENGER TIRE. AFTERWARDS, THE TIRE EXPLODED. THE CONTACT MANAGED TO VEER TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD AND REPLACED THE TIRE WITH A SPARE. THE TIRE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THERE WERE NO DAMAGES TO THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 57,410. THE TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
2015 EQUINOX, 103K MILES, PCV SYSTEM FROZE AND MAIN SEAL BLOW OUT. OIL LEAKED OUT VERY QUICKLY WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE, LOSS OF POWER AND A DANGEROUS SITUATION. BULLETIN 14882 DOES NOT COVER MY 2.4L ECOTEC ENGINE, AS IT ONLY COVERS 2010-14 MODEL YEARS. MY VEHICLE HAS THE SAME EXACT ISSUE AS THE RECALL IN THE BULLETIN, YET I AM STUCK WITH A $6K BILL. MY VEHICLE ALSO HAS THE ISSUE WHERE IT BURNS OIL. THE LOW ENGINE OIL PRESSURE LIGHT DID NOT COME ON UNTIL DAMAGE HAD ALREADY OCCURRED. BULLETIN 14882 NEEDS TO BE EXTENDED TO INCLUDE FURTHER MODEL YEARS. THIS WAS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION THAT HAS RESULTED IN A SIGNIFICANT FINANCIAL LOSS. GM IS MORE THAN AWARE OF THIS ISSUE.
HAD MY EQUINOX FOR COUPLE YEARS WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS. JUST RECENTLY ABS LIGHT CAME ON ALONG WITH TRACTION CONTROL. SUV SLIDES TO THE SIDE WHEN APPLYING BREAKS. A MONTH BEFORE THIS STARTED ENGINE LIGHT KEPT TURNING ON AND OFF. DIDN'T STAY LONG ENOUGH TO SEE WHATS WRONG. GAS GAUGE DOES NOT SHOW CORRECT AMOUNT OF FUEL 1 OUT OF 5 DAYS.
THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS JUST STOPPED WORKING WHILE IT WAS RAINING HEAVY. ME AND MY DAUGHTER WAS IN THE CAR IN THE CITY OF RIVERDALE GOING DOWN HWY 85, IT WAS HORRIFIC. I HAD TO FOLLOW THE LIGHTS OF THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME TO FEEL MY WAY TO A SAFE PLACE TO STOP.
I WAS DRIVING ABOUT AN HOUR AND A HALF AWAY IN DECEMBER IN INDIANA ON THE INTERSTATE GOING 70 MPH AND IT STARTED TO SNOW/RAIN. I TURNED MY WIPERS ON AND THEY STOPPED WORKING WITH THE WIPERS STILL IN MY VIEW. I HAD TO PULL OVER AND MOVE THEM TO SEE AND THE CAR WAS NOT DRIVABLE DUE TO THE WEATHER CONDITIONS. I HAD TO FIND A PARTS STORE THAT HAD THE WIPER BLADE TRANSMISSION LINKAGE AND SPENT $170 TO FIX IT. I FEEL LIKE THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD WHILE TRYING TO USE THE WIPERS IN THE WEATHER CONDITIONS BECAUSE THERE IS NOTHING YOU CAN DO TO FIX IT RIGHT AWAY!
AS I WAS DRIVING IN HEAVY RAIN MY WIPERS WENT BEYOND MY WINDSHIELD AND JUST STOPPED WORKING.
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY IN THE RAIN, MY WINDSHIELD WIPERS JUST CUT OFF AND WOULD NOT TURN BACK ON. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER IN A STORE, I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND LET IT SIT, THEN CRANKED IT BACK UP. THEY STILL WEREN'T WORKING. WE CHECKED THE FUSE AND MADE SURE THE CONNECTIONS WERE TIGHT.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN A CITY STREET WHEN WIPERS JUST STOPPED WORKING. IT WAS RAING PRETTY HARD WHEN THEY STOPPED. I TRIED THE FUZE BUT THAT DIDNT WORK.
Issue with oil consumption on this vehicle. Needs 2 quarts of new oil every 2-3 weeks with moderate driving. Mechanics say this is a known issue with Chevrolet Equinox’s since 2011. The only true fix is to replace the engine and even then the problem can reoccur with new engines. I have joined a Facebook page called “Terrain-Equinox Oil Consumption Recall” with thousands of members experiencing same issue. There is no assistance from dealerships to assist in covering repair costs. There was a limited recall for model year 2013 but same issues are present in 2014’s and 2015’s as well. There are also many complaints about on this issue on this bursa website. Looking for any assistance.
TIRE PRESSURE READINGS ON INSTRUMENT PANEL GIVE ALERT IN COLD WEATHER. EVEN WHEN TIRE PRESSURE IS MAINTAINED MANUALLY THERE IS ANXIETY ABOUT PUTTING TOO MUCH AIR INTO TIRES EVEN WHEN COLD. INSTRUMENT PANEL REGISTERS 26 - 29 PSI WHEN IN ACTUALLY THERE IS 35 PSI IN TIRES.
IN THE MIDDLE OF A STORM WHILE HAVING MY WIPERS ON HIGH THEY JUST STOPPED WORKING. I PUT MY CAR IN PARK TO LOAD MY 2015 CHEVY EQUINOX I GOT BACK IN PUT MY CAR IN DRIVE AND THE WIPERS WEREN'T MOVING ANY MORE. I COULD HEAR THE MOTOR NOISE BUT THEY WEREN'T MOVING.*DT
AFTER MULTIPLE OIL LEAK REPAIRS VEHICLE STILL LEAKS OIL WHILE STATIONARY. WHEN THE HEAT IS ON THE SMELL OF OIL COMES INTO THE VEHICLE. I HAVE CHECKED FOR ANY RECALLS FOR THE VEHICLE BUT NOT HAVE ARRIVED.
I WAS DRIVING ON INTERSTATE IN A CONSTRUCTION ZONE ON NOVEMBER 26, 2019 AT APPROXIMATELY 5:45PM. IT WAS DARK AND RAINING HARD WHEN MY WINDSHIELD WIPERS SUDDENLY STOPPED WORKING. IT WAS VERY DIFFICULT SEE AND, IN MY OPINION, VERY DANGEROUS. I PUT ON MY HAZARD LIGHTS AND DROVE VERY SLOWLY APPROXIMATELY 6 MILES OF INTESTATE AND 20 MILES ON A 2 LANE ROAD.
DRIVING SOUTH ON I5 IN EARLY MORNING (DARK) IN MODERATE RAINFALL MY WIPERS STOPPED WORKING. HAD TROUBLE SEEING. I FOLLOWED THE TAIL LIGHTS IN FRONT OF ME UNTIL I COULD GET TO A TURNOFF. I TOOK THE CAR TO A DEALER. THE MECHANIC SAID THE WIPER ARM TRANSMISSION LINK POPPED OFF DUE TO A FAILED JOINT. I WAS BILLED FOR PART # 8424187 MODULE 10.150. THE TOTAL CAME TO $485.96.
ENGINE SEIZED WHILE DRIVING AT 50 MPH CAUSING LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES AND LEAVING MY WIFE STRANDED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. SEEMS THAT THE PVC SYSTEM PLUGGED CAUSING REAR MAIN SEAL TO BLOW OUT AND LOOSE ALL THE OIL. GM HAS ISSUED A BULLETIN "14882" THAT COVERS 2010-2014 MODEL YEARS. OUR CHEVY EQUINOX IS A 2015, SO THE SAME ISSUE SEEMS TO FOLLOW LATER MODELS.
THE PCV FROZE AND BLEW THE REAR MAIN SEAL. THE VEHICLE WAS WARMING UP IN MY DRIVEWAY.
NO WARNING ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND VEHICLE STALLING (P011 AND P016 CODES) TOOK TO AUTOMOTIVE REPAIR SHOP NEW ENGINE REFURBISHED $5000 NEW $10,000 UNFORTUNATELY NO FUNDS FOR EITHER JUST OVER 100,000 MILES AND STILL OWE $13,000 I UNDERSTAND THESE ARE THE SAME ISSUES THAT HAVE BEEN NOTED IN FIRST GENERATION VEHICLE. I NOW HAVE TO LOOK FOR A REPLACEMENT VEHICLE WHILE PAYING FOR ONE THAT DOES NOT WORK.
MY 2015 CHEVY EQUINOX BEGAN STALLING AND IDLING LOW TO THE POINT THAT SLOWING DOWN OR STOPPING WOULD CAUSE A STALLING ISSUE; GOING IN REVERSE WOULD CAUSE A STALLING ISSUE; PUTTING IT IN PARK WOULD CAUSE A STALLING ISSUE. SOMETIMES THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WOULD COME ON, BUT MOST TIMES IT DID NOT. THE VEHICLE MAINTAINS A REGULAR OIL CHANGE AND MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE YET THIS PROBLEM, WHICH WAS INTERMITTENT AT FIRST, BEGAN HAPPENING EVERY TIME THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN. COULD NOT BE DRIVEN DUE TO SAFETY CONCERNS. VERY SCARY IN TRAFFIC!

STERNBERG CHEVROLET (6600 DIXIE HWY, LOUISVILLE, KY 40258, (502) 442-0752) WAS CONTACTED AND AN APPOINTMENT WAS SCHEDULED TO HAVE THE VEHICLE DIAGNOSED, WHICH WAS STILL PENDING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
WINDSHIELD WIPERS STOPPED WORKING DURING A RAIN STORM. PROBLEM WAS A BROKEN WIPER TRANSMISSION LINKAGE SOCKET. DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE WIPER MOTOR/TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY. I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP AND ADVISED THAT I HAD SEEN A NUMBER OF OTHER COMPLAINTS FOR THE SAME ISSUE BUT I WAS ADVISED NO RECALL OR SERVICE BULLETIN HAD BEEN ISSUED. FOR THIS REASON, THE REPAIR WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THEY NOTED THAT IF A RECALL OR BULLETIN IS ISSUED IN THE FUTURE, THE CLAIM COULD BE SUBMITTED FOR REIMBURSEMENT. HOW MANY MORE COMPLAINTS ARE NEEDED FOR THE PROBLEM TO BE RECOGNIZED AND CORRECTED BY GM?
WHILE DRIVING AT 65 MPH ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY IN A BAD RAIN STORM MY WIPERS STOPPED WORKING. IT WAS VERY ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO SEE AND TRY TO GET TWO LANES OVER TO THE SHOULDER. MY HUSBAND AND I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. THERE WAS NO SIGN THEY WERE GOING TO FAIL.
ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS DURING THE PAST FEW MONTHS, THE WINDSHIELD ON MY 2015 CHEVROLET EQUINOX BECAME EXTREMELY FOGGED UP, SIGNIFICANTLY DECREASING VISIBILITY. THE VEHICLE WAS NEVER ABLE TO DEFROST OR CLEAR THE CONDENSATION UP, NO MATTER WHAT SELECTION WAS MADE ON THE HEAT/AIR CONDITIONING SETTING(S). APPROXIMATELY ONE WEEK AGO, WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT WITH AN OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE OF APPROXIMATELY 45 DEGREES F, THE WINDSHIELD AGAIN BECAME EXTREMELY FOGGED UP. THIS TIME, THE WINDSHIELD CONDENSATION/FOG HAD BECOME SO SEVERE THAT I WAS UNABLE TO SEE OUT OF THE WINDSHIELD AND OTHER PASSENGER WINDOWS AT ALL AND WAS FORCED TO PULL THE VEHICLE OVER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT SAFE TO CONTINUE DRIVING WITH NO VISIBILITY. THANKFULLY, I WAS NOT ON THE HIGHWAY AT THIS POINT AND WAS ABLE TO EFFECTIVELY PULL OFF THE ROADWAY WITHOUT INCIDENT. THE VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT TO THE DEALERSHIP THE NEXT DAY AND DIAGNOSED WITH A 'HEATER CORE FAILURE.' THE FAILURE OF THE HEATER CORE IS WHAT CAUSES THE EXTREME CONDENSATION BUILD UP AND FOGGING OF THE INTERIOR WINDSHIELD AND WINDOWS. THE VEHICLE IS ONLY A 2015 AND I AM EXTREMELY CONCERNED WITH THE PREMATURE FAILURE(S) OF AN INTEGRAL COMPONENT OF THE VEHICLE, ESPECIALLY ONE THAT AFFECTS VISIBILITY AND COMPROMISES SAFETY TO MYSELF, MY PASSENGERS, AND OTHERS ON THE ROADWAY.
GM has long known about the oil consumption problem of the 2015 and settle a lawsuit for the 2013. Car issues including engine shutdowns and stalls, spark plug fouling, engine misfires, unexpected loss of power, vehicle “jerking”. Other people had the same issues included fires per blogs about the issues with the 2014-2015.
IT SEEMS THAT THE BATTERY DISCONNECTS AT RANDOM TIMES. THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL TIMES THAT I GO TO START THE VEHICLE AND THE SUV IS COMPLETELY DEAD. I ALREADY CHANGED THE BATTERY AND TOOK IT TO A LOCAL SHOP BUT IT STILL HAPPENS. I FIGURED OUT THAT IF I POP THE HOOD AND WIGGLE THE BATTERY AND CABLES IT'LL START AND GO BACK TO NORMAL. WHEN THIS HAPPENS THE SUV WON'T HAVE ANY LIGHTS OR EVEN LOCK DOORS. AND WHEN IT DOES COME BACK IT'LL GO TO FACTORY TIME AND DATE. JUST RECENTLY IT HAPPENED AS I WAS COMING TO A STOP AT A GAS STATION. I'M NOT SURE IF I WAS STOPPED OR DOING LIKE 1 OR 2 MPH. BUT IT WAS DEAD EVEN BEFORE I PUT IT INTO PARK. THE DATE THIS HAPPENED IS AN ESTIMATE. NOT EXACT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. WHILE DRIVING, A RATTLING NOISE OCCURRED AND THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHAKE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSFER CASE DIFFERENTIAL FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT CALLED RYDELL CHEVROLET (1325 E SAN MARNAN DR, WATERLOO, IA 50702, (319) 433-4871) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE TRANSFER CASE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 140,000.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AROUND 70 MPH DURING A RAIN STORM, THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS ABRUPTLY STOPPED. THIS CAUSED SEVERE DIFFICULTY SEEING AND A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY. I TRIED TO RESTART THE WIPERS AND THE VEHICLE, NEITHER WORKED. THE WIPERS NO LONGER WORKED AT ALL. YOU COULD HEAR THE MOTOR RUNNING, BUT THE WIPERS DID NOT RUN. I HAD TO SLOWLY DRIVE ALONG THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY WITH HAZARDS ON TO FIND AN EXIT. I HAD TO CALL SOMEONE TO PICK ME UP, AS THE VEHICLE COULD NO LONGER DRIVE IN THE RAIN.
I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK.WHILE MAKING A TURN MY CAR WAS UNABLE TO BRAKE. I SLAMMED INTO A TELEPHONE POLE WHICH MY AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. MY CAR HIT THE POLE A HARD RIGHT. MY HEAD AND NECK WAS PUSH FORWARD EXTREMELY FAST CAUSING TRAUMA.
WHILE DRIVING ON A BUSY CITY STREET IN AFTERNOON THUNDERSTORM MY WINDSHIELD WIPERS COMPLETELY STOPPED WORKING. NO FOREWARNING. THEY WERE WORKING JUST FINE EARLIER IN THE DAY. I WAS FORTUNATE TO VERY CAREFULLY NAVIGATE MY VEHICLE, WITH VERY LIMITED VISIBILITY, TO THE NEAREST BUSINESS TO PARK AND WAIT OUT THE STORM. LUCKILY MY PASSENGERS AND I MADE IT OFF THE ROAD SAFELY IN HEAVY CITY TRAFFIC AND THIS INCIDENT DIDN'T HAPPEN WHILE ON THE INTERSTATE JUST 30 MINS PRIOR.
OCT 7TH 2019 WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY 65MPH DURING MAJOR NEW ENGLAND RAIN STORM THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS STOPPED WORKING. I WAS UNABLE TO SEE ANYTHING, I QUICKLY ROLLED DOWN THE WINDOW, STUCK MY HEAD OUT AND WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF THE HIGHWAY ONTO THE EXIT RAMP. IF NOT FOR MY QUICK THINKING AND THE EXIT RAMP BEING SO CLOSE WE COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. I HAD MY CHILD IN THE FRONT SEAT WHO WAS COMPLETELY TRAUMATIZED BY THIS EXPERIENCE. AFTER READING ONLINE THE AMOUNT OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS SAFETY ISSUE, WHY HASN'T GM RECALLED THESE VEHICLES! WHAT ARE THEY WAITING FOR SOMEONE TO GET INJURED OR KILLED.THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS DEFECT THAT NEEDS TO BE RESOLVED BY GM.
WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR QUIT WORKING AS I WAS DRIVING IN HEAVY RAIN DOWN THE HIGHWAY. DANGEROUS.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR WAS OPERABLE; HOWEVER, THE BUSHINGS ON THE WIPER MOTOR ARMS FAILED AND THE WINDSHIELD MOTOR SEIZED IN POSITION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO WHEELER CHEVROLET BUICK (11401 N STRAITS HWY, CHEBOYGAN, MI 49721, (231) 333-5022) TO BE REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 95551109568. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 74,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
I WAS DRIVING ON A CITY STREET RETURNING HOME FROM PICKING UP MY CHILD AND HIS FRIEND. I TURNED IN MY WINSHIELD WIPERS DUE TO A SERVERE HEAVY RAINSTORM IN MY AREA. AFTER CUTTING THE WIPERS ON THEY STARTED WIPING AT A VERY FAST PACE AND JUST ABRUPTLY STOPPED IN THE UP POSITION. I TRIED CUTTING THEM OFF AND BACK ON BUT THE WIPERS DID NOT MOVE. I HAD TO PULL OVER BECAUSE I COULD NO LONGER SEE. UPON MAKING IT HOME I PULLED INTO THE GARAGE AND ATTEMPTED TO TURN THE WIPERS ON AGAIN. I COULD HEAR THE MOTOR FOR THE WIPERS HOWEVER THEY WOULD NOT MOVE. I BELIEVE THE WINSHIELD WIPER TRANSMISSION MALFUNCTIONED. AFTER GOOGLING THE DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEM I WAS HAVING I REALIZED THAT WAS THE PART I NEEDED. I CALLED A CHEVY DEALERSHIP IN HOMEWOOD, IL AND AN EMPLOYEE STATED THAT THEY REPAIR THIS PART OFTEN IN CHEVY VEHICLES. THIS IS A DANGEROUS MALFUNCTION TO HAVE ON A VEHICLE. I HOPE A RECALL IS ISSUED SOON BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT OR KILLED.
2015 CHEVROLET EQUINOX INTERMITTENTLY SPUTTERED AND STALLED AT STOP SIGNS AND STOPLIGHTS. AFTER STALLING NEED TO PUT CAR N 'PARK' BEFORE RESTARTING. CAR STALLED SEVERAL TIMES AFTER INITIAL STALL. CAR ALSO SPUTTERED AND ALMOST DIED SEVERAL TIMES DURING FREEWAY RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC WHEN I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE GAS. I HAD TO PUT THE CAR IN 'NEUTRAL' AND REVVED THE ENGINE TO ENSURE THE ENGINE KEPT RUNNING. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A SERIOUS ISSUE SHOULD I BEEN FORCED TO STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC. MECHANIC REPLACED THE VVT INTAKE AND EXHAUST SOLENOIDS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH IN HEAVY RAIN CONDITIONS, THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS FAILED TO OPERATE. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO MOVE ONTO THE ROAD SHOULDER AND PLACED RAIN-X ON THE WINDSHIELD. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO DRIVE HOME WHERE A FAMILY MEMBER REPLACED THE WINDSHIELD WIPER BUSHING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE WINDSHIELD WIPER BUSHING WAS REPLACED TWICE. THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS WERE REPAIRED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
AUGUST 2019 DURING HURRICANE DORIAN WINDSHIELD WIPERS STOPPED WORKING IN THE MIDDLE OF THREE LANE TRAFFIC I WAS UNABLE TO SEE FOR THREE BLOCKS THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED A CASTATROPHIC LIFE-THREATENING EMERGENCY, I COULDN'T CHANGE LANES I COULDN'T GET OUT OF THE MIDDLE LANE MY WINDSHIELD WIPERS TOTALLY STOPPED WORKING. MY FAMILY WAS TRAUMATIZED. BECAUSE OF THE DOWNPOUR OF RAIN WE WERE TRAVELING AT A SLOW SPEED BUT IF IT WOULD HAVE BEEN AND BECAUSE A LOT OF PEOPLE WERE TRYING TO MANEUVER THROUGH THE STORM THERE WAS LIKE A LOT OF UNUSUAL TRAFFIC ON THE ROAD IF THERE WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN BACKUPS IN TRAFFIC IT COULD HAVE BEEN A DEVASTATING ACCIDENT. I HAVE GOOGLED THIS MALFUNCTION AND IT SEEMS LIKE EVEN AT THE PEOPLE GOT THE PROBLEM REPAIRED THEIR WINDSHIELD WIPERS HAVE GONE OUT AGAIN I BEG YOU TO RECALL THESE WINDSHIELD WIPERS BEFORE THERE ARE MULTIPLE DEATHS IF THERE HAVEN'T ALREADY BEEN HOMICIDES
WINDSHIELD WIPERS STOPPED WORKING WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY DURING A RAIN STORM NEARLY RESULTING IN AN ACCIDENT. RESEARCH SHOWS THIS IS A FREQUENT SAFETY ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE YEARS 2010-2016 THOUGH THE 2013 MODEL IS THE ONLY ONE WITH A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE. THE BALL JOINT HAS GIVEN WAY WHILE IN USE RESULTING IN BOTH WIPERS TO BE INOPERABLE.
WINDSHIELD WIPERS FAILED WORKING DURING A HEAVY DOWNPOUR WHILE TRAVELING APPROX 50 MPH. LOST ALL VISIBILITY HAD TO PULL OVER. TOOK CAR TO DEALERSHIP SAID THERE IS NO RECALL ON MY VIN #. DID RESEARCH SAME YEAR MAKE AND MODEL RECALLED IN CANADA FOR THIS ISSUE. OTHER YEARS HAVE ALSO BEEN RECALLED THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED.
ON SUNDAY, AUGUST 18, 2019, ABOUT 7:30 AM WHILE DRIVING ON A 3 LANE HIGHWAY GOING ABOUT 55 MPH DURING A HEAVY RAIN DOWNPOUR, MY WINDSHIELD WIPERS COMPLETELY STOPPED WORKING. THEY SUDDENLY STOPPED MOVING WHILE IN MOTION, ONE EXTENDING OFF THE WINDSHIELD, THE OTHER STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE WINDSHIELD. I INSTANTLY HAD ZERO VISIBILITY AND WAS IN DANGER OF CRASHING. THERE WERE MANY OTHER VEHICLES DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. I WAS TERRIFIED BUT SOMEHOW MANAGED TO MANEUVER MY VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD BY ROLLING DOWN MY WINDOW AND STICKING MY HEAD OUT TO SEE JUST ENOUGH TO PULL OVER SAFELY. MY ORDEAL WAS NOT OVER BECAUSE THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY WAS NOT THAT WIDE AND DUE TO THE NATURE OF MY JOB, I WAS FULLY AWARE THAT IT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS TO BE ON THE SIDE OF A HIGHWAY, ESPECIALLY DURING BAD WEATHER, BECAUSE OTHER DRIVERS MIGHT NOT SEE YOU AND COMPLETELY CRASH INTO YOU GOING FULL SPEED, THUS MY LIFE WAS IN SERIOUS DANGER. I FRANTICALLY LOCATED AND CALLED FOR ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE WHILE WATCHING TRAFFIC ANXIOUSLY IN MY REAR VIEW MIRROR. I WAS IN COMPLETE PANIC MODE AND COULD BARELY FOCUS. I DECIDED THAT IT WAS TOO DANGEROUS TO WAIT THERE FOR EMERGENCY HELP SO I GOT OUT OF MY CAR AND MANUALLY WIPED THE WINDSHIELD CLEAR AND BEGAN DRIVING ON THE SHOULDER SLOWLY TO THE NEAREST EXIT WHICH WAS ABOUT 3/4 MILE AWAY. I MADE IT OFF OF THE HIGHWAY AND DROVE CAUTIOUSLY UNTIL I MADE IT HOME. MY ORDEAL WAS TRAUMATIZING. WHAT MADE THIS ENTIRE NIGHTMARE WORSE IS THAT AFTER GOING ONLINE TO TRY TO FIND OUT WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN THE CAUSE OF THE WIPER FAIL, I SAW THAT THIS EXACT SAME PROBLEM HAD HAPPENED TO MANY OTHER OWNERS OF THE SAME VEHICLE AND CHEVY HAS YET TO RECALL THE WIPERS. I HAD MY WIPERS FIXED BY A CHEVY DEALER IN HOMEWOOD IL., THE REPAIR MECHANIC HAD SEEN MY PROBLEM MANY TIMES. THIS IS AN OUTRAGE. DOES CHEVY CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS LIVES?
FOR A FEW DAYS MY CAR WAS RUNNING ROUGH THEN WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD ABOUT 45 MPH IT SUDDENLY LOST POWER AND REALLY BEGAN RUNNING ROUGH. THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS, NOTHING. I PULLED OVER AND TURNED THE CAR OFF AND THEN TURNED IT BACK ON. IT STILL WAS RUNNING ROUGH. AT THIS POINT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND A MESSAGE POPPED SAYING THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING AT REDUCED POWER. I DROVE 1/2 MILE AT ~ 15 MPH TO DROP MY DAUGHTER AT SCHOOL. AT THAT POINT THE CAR TOTALLY DIED. WHEN IT WAS TAKEN TO THE SHOP IT WAS FOUND TO HAVE NO OIL. THERE WAS NO INDICATION THAT MY CAR WAS OUT OF OIL OR RUNNING LOW ON OIL AND IT PROBABLY HAD ABOUT 3500 MILES SINCE LAST OIL CHANGE. MY ENGINE WAS RUINED AND NOW I HAVE TO PURCHASE ANOTHER MOTOR! NOT HAPPY AS THE CAR HAD ABOUT ~100K MILES AND THAT'S LOW TO ME. AND APPARENTLY THERE ARE ISSUES WITH THESE ENGINES SO I AM PROBABLY JUST PAYING TO PUT ANOTHER BAD ENGINE IN!
I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE WHEN A TORRENTIAL DOWNPOUR OCCURRED. I TURNED ON THE WIPERS AND THEY FLEW TO THE LEFT THEN STOPPED WORKING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE WINDSHIELD. I WAS ALL THE WAY OVER IN THE LEFT LANE, COULD NOT SEE ANYTHING. HAD TO OPEN THE PASSENGER WINDOW AND TRY TO GET OVER TO THE SHOULDER. I FINALLY MADE IT ACROSS 4 LANES OF HEAVY TRAFFIC THAT WAS GOING 65+ AND STOPPED ON THE SHOULDER. IT WAS A MIRACLE WE WERE NOT HIT TRYING TO GET OVER AND ALSO DURING THE HOUR WE HAD TO WAIT FOR THE RAIN TO STOP BEFORE HEADING HOME. WE HAD TO WAIT 2 DAYS BEFORE THE DEALERS SERVICE DEPARTMENT COULD LOOK AT OUR CAR. IT TURNED OUT THE WIPER TRANSMISSION SEPARATED. THEY REPLACED THE WIPER TRANSMISSION AND THAT SEEMS TO HAVE FIXED THE ISSUE. COST OF REPAIR WAS $365.50. I AM VERY GRATEFUL TO BE ALIVE!
THE VEHICLE STALLS UPON GOING A SLOW RATE OF SPEED AS WHEN BACKING OUT OF A DRIVEWAY, DRIVING IN A PARKING LOT, OR STOPPING AND TRYING TO PERFORM A TURN ON A CITY STREET. IT CAN ALSO STALL ON THE INTERSTATE IF YOU IDLE WHILE SLOWED DUE TO TRAFFIC STOPS. YOU HAVE TO TURN THE CAR OFF AND RESTART THE VEHICLE. IT STALLS ABOUT 3-4 TIMES A TRIP. SEVERAL TIMES A DAY. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON.
CONSUMING OIL SUPER FAST
2015 CHEVY EQUINOX WITH 94,000 MILES AND THE WIPER TRANSMISSION FAILED. I WAS DRIVING IN DOWN POURING RAIN ON THE INTERSTATE AND THE WIPERS JUST QUIT WORKING. I HAD TO VERY QUICKLY AND CAREFULLY NAVIGATE TO THE SHOULDER AND SIT TIL IT QUIT RAINING BEFORE I COULD GET ON MY WAY. I TOOK IT TO THE CHEVROLET DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE WIPER TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY AND MOTOR. THEY SAID THIS HAS BEEN RECALLED ON THE 2013 EQUINOX BUT NOT THE 2015.
WAS DRIVING ON US 23 IN A DOWN POUR WITH WIPERS AT FULL SPEED WHEN WIPERS STOPPED AND WENT BEYOND DRIVER SIDE WINDSHIELD. REACHED OUT WINDOWT TO PUSH WIPER BACK TO MOVE PASSENGER WIPER OUT OF DRIVER SIGHT LINE. WAS VERY SCARY.
