A PORTION OF THE WINDSHIELD WIPER LINKAGE BROKE. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THAT THIS PIECE HAS BROKEN WITHIN TWO YEARS. ONCE WAS IN A THUNDERSTORM WITH WIPERS ON HIGH. THIS TIME IT WAS IN SNOW BUT THE WINDOW WAS ALREADY CLEARED OFF BY HAND. THERE'S A LOUD POP AND THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS DO NOT WORK. THANKFULLY THIS HAPPENED IN THE DRIVEWAY BUT DOES CAUSE PROBLEMS TRYING TO GET TO A REPAIR SHOP.THIS IS ESPECIALLY TROUBLESOME IN THE WINTER WHEN YOU HAVE ROAD SPRAY.
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE STARTED MAKING A TERRIBLE METAL SOUND. I DIDN'T THINK IT COULD BE MY VEHICLE, AS IT IS FAIRLY NEW. I STOPPED AT A STORE AND IT WOULDN'T RESTART. HAD TO TOW IT TO A SHOP. TIMING CHAIN BROKE. WHEN BREAKING IT BENT PARKS OF THE ENGINE.
EQUINOX SMELLS LIKE BURNING OIL AND NOW IT'S BEGUN TO STALL AT RANDOM TIMES USUALLY WHILE BACKING UP OR FOWARD AT LOW SPEEDS OR STOPPED. HAD THIS VEHICLE 6 MONTHS AND HAVEN'T EVEN PUT 4,000 MILES ON IT. ODOMETER SHOWS 36,645 MILES.
WIPER LINKAGE HAS FAILED AND PCV VALVE FROZE AND CAUSED REAR MAIN SEAL FAILURE
MONDAY, ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND WAS A STEADY LIGHT. DROVE APPROX. 60 MILES (TO/FROM WORK). 2 DAYS LATER (MONDAY) TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP WHERE VEHICLE CUT-OFF IN FRONT OF DEALERSHIP WHILE GOING STRAIGHT AFTER PULLING OUT OF A PARKING SPOT (ALL LIGHTS WERE STILL ON; HIT GAS AND REALIZED IT WAS OFF). RESTARTED VEHICLE, HIT GAS AND IT CUT OFF AGAIN. RESTARTED AND PULLED INTO GARAGE AND WAS TOLD TO LEAVE CAR RUNNING IN DEALERSHIP. PERSON WHO MOVED VEHICLE SAID IT CUT-OFF 4 MORE TIMES WHILE GOING APPROX. 20FT.
WE BOUGHT THIS 2016 EQUINOX ABOUT A MONTH AGO. IT HAS USED 2.5 GUARTS OF OIL IN LESS THAN 4 THOUSAND MILES. I HAVE SEEN ON INTERNET SITES THAT THERE ARE A TON OF COMPLAINTS ON THIS PROBLEM
MY CAR STARTED ON ITS OWN WHILE I WAS STANDING OUTSIDE TALKING TO MY PARENTS ON THANKSGIVING DAY OF LAST YEAR. MY KEYS AND MY CELL PHONE BOTH WERE IN THE CAR AT THE TIME, SO I AM CERTAIN THAT THERE WAS NO WAY THAT I MAY HAVE ACCIDENTALLY STARTED MY CAR MYSELF AND AM CONFUSED AS TO WHY IT CRANKED ON ITS OWN. I AM WONDERING IF MY MYCHEVY APP WAS HACKED OR MALFUNCTIONED ON MY PHONE OR IF THERE IS AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM WITH MY CAR. IT HAS NOT HAPPENED AGAIN BUT I AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT IT. CAN YOU PLEASE CHECK INTO THIS FOR ME?
DRIVING ON A DARK ROAD DURING A STORM AND THEY JUST STOP.
My Equinox was knocking. It had very little oil in the engine and no oil light ever came on. And in between oil changes it uses more than usual oil.
THE CAR STALLS AFTER BEING STARTED AND TRYING TO GO. PUT HOME DIAGNOSTIC COMPUTER ON THE VEHICLE AND IT POINTS TO THE CAMSHAFT POSITION ACTUATOR SOLENOID VALVE FAILING. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE EQUINOX AND THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL FOR IT.
IN EARLY NOVEMBER OF 2020 MY CHEVROLET EQUINOX ENGINE FAILED DUE TO EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION AND BURNING OIL. MY LOW OIL LIGHT NEVER WENT ON AND WE DID REGULAR OIL CHANGES WHICH STILL DIDNT MATTER. WE WERE PUTTING OIL IN IT EVERY FEW DAYS UNTIL FINALLY IT WOULDNT START ANYMORE. I HAD IT THEN TOWED TO THE CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT FIXED AS IT IS MY ONLY MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION.THEY CORRECTED THE PROBLEM BUT REFUSE TO TAKE ACCOUNTABILITY FOR THE EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION RESULTING IN A BILL OF OVER $2,200. THEY NEVER FIXED THE LOW OIL LIGHT, AND WE HAVE FOUND THAT NOW EVEN THOUGH IT HAD BEEN FIXED IT IS STILL USING OIL EXCESSIVELY SO I AM CONSTANTLY CHECKING IT. I CONTACTED CHEVROLET TO DISPUTE THE MATTER BUT THEY REFUSE TO PAY FOR THE DAMAGE BECAUSE IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY. I TOLD THEM THAT I BELIEVE IT TO BE A MANUFACTURING DEFECT AS I HAVE RESEARCHED THAT MANY CHEVY EQUINOXES HAVE HAD SIMILAR ISSUES RESULTING IN ENGINE DAMAGE, YET THEY STILL HAVE REFUSED TO LOOK INTO IT AND SAID TO FILE A COMPLAINT WITH YOU HENCE THIS EMAIL. I AM SEEKING A RECALL ON THE 2016 EQUINOX REGARDING EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION AND DEFECTIVE LOW OIL LIGHT. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD AND COULD CAUSE AN ENGINE TO DIE ON A HIGHWAY AND POSSIBLY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. I WOULD APPRECIATE THIS BEING LOOKED INTO AND BE KEPT INFORMED ON ITS STATUS. THANK YOU
CLEAR COAT ON VEHICLES TOP IS PEELING. MY CHEVY HAS BEEN TAKEN CARE OF VERY WELL. I BELIEVE THAT, THIS VEHICLE WAS BUILT IN CANADA AND THAT FACTORY CUT CORNERS ON APPLING THE CORRECT AMOUNT OF CLEAR COATING TO THE PRIMARY COLOR.
WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR FAILURE- COMPLETE FAILURE MIDDLE OF RAIN STORM
DRIVER REPORTS CAR STALLS WHEN APPLYING GAS PEDAL, CAR HAS SMELL OF GAS. THIS STALLING HAPPENS AT LOW AND HIGHWAY SPEEDS.
WHILE I WAS DRIVING THROUGH THE MOUNTAINS IN THE RAIN, THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS STOPPED WORKING. I ATTEMPTED TO TURN THEM BACK ON, BUT THEY WOULD NOT MOVE, BUT A SOUND COULD BE HEARD LIKE THEY WERE MOVING.
CURRENT MILES: 66,190. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND RIGHT AFTER CAR BEGAN STALLING AT READ LIGHT. I HAD TO GET ON THE FREEWAY TO GET BACK HOME AND CAR LOST POWER. SO, NEXT DAY I WENT TO GET A DIAGNOSIS. WAS TOLD THE CAMSHAFT TIME POSITION INTAKE AND EXHAUST VALVES NEEDED REPLACED. WAS TOLD OIL LEVELS WERE PERFECTLY FINE AND AN OIL CHANGE WAS NOT NEEDED. WAS TOLD ISSUE IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH CHEVY EQUINOX'S FROM A CERTIFIED MECHANIC, BUT THERE HASN'T BEEN A RECALL ISSUED FOR THE PROBLEM. ALSO WAS TOLD BY THE CERTIFIED MECHANIC THAT THIS PART/COMPONENT SHOULD LAST THE LIFE TIME OF THE ENGINE AND USUALLY NEEDS REPLACED AFTER 100K OR MORE MILES. SO I GOOGLED TO SEE HOW COMMON THE PROBLEM WAS, AND SURE ENOUGH MANY EQUINOX OWNER HAD THE SAME ISSUE FROM DIFFERENT YEARS/MODELS. PEOPLE LIVES AND FAMILIES ARE AT RISK.
I WAS DRIVING MY VEHICLE ON THE NEW YORK STATE THRUWAY IN A RAIN STORM WHEN MY WIPERS JUST STOPPED WORKING. I HAD TO PULL OVER TO THE SHOULDER OF THE THRUWAY AND WAIT IT OUT UNTIL THE RAIN STOPPED. MY FATHER IN LAW (RETIRED AUTOMOTIVE TEACHER) DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM TO BE A BALL JOINT ON THE WIPER TRANSMISSION HAD COME APART DISCONNECTING THE WIPER TRANSMISSION FROM THE WIPER MOTOR. HE REPLACED THE WIPER MOTOR ASSEMBLY WITH A NEW UNIT FROM CHEVROLET PARTS DEPARTMENT WHICH WAS MODIFIED TO INCLUDE A DEFLECTOR TO KEEP THE ELEMENTS AWAY FROM THE WIPER TRANSMISSION BALL JOINTS. I LEARNED GM HAD A RECALL ON THE 2013 MODEL YEAR EQUINOX FOR THE SAME ISSUE BUT NEVER EXTENDED IT TO THE 2016 MODEL YEAR DESPITE SEVERAL COMPLAINTS FROM OWNERS.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON. KILLS WHEN PUT IN REVERSE. HARD TO ACCELERATE. OIL WAS CHANGED TWO WEEKS AGO BUT THAT DID NOT HELP. FOUND CODE P0010 FOR THE INTAKE CAMSHAFT SOLENOID PERFORMANCE. TESTED THE INTAKE SOLENOID AND IT HAD 1.4K OHMS. SHOULD BE BETWEEN 8-13OHMS. REPLACED THE INTAKE AND EXHAUST CAMSHAFT ACTUATOR SOLENOIDS.
2016 CHEVROLET EQUINOX, 87,000 MILES HIGHWAY MILES. WHILE DRIVING IN THE POURING RAIN THIS MORNING THE WIPERS COMPLETELY STOPPED. HAD TO IMMEDIATELY PULL OVER SINCE I COULD NOT DRIVE IN THE RAIN WITHOUT THEM. THE MOTOR WAS STILL RUINING BUT THE WIPERS WERE NOT MOVING. CALLED ONSTAR TO ASK FOR THEM TO RUN A DIAGNOSTIC. THE CORPORATE RESPONSE WAS THE WIPER SYSTEM WAS NOT CONSIDERED AN ESSENTIAL FUNCTION EVEN THO IT SHOULD BE IN SITUATIONS LIKE THIS. HAD TO GET IT TOWED TO THE SHOP SINCE WE ARE IN A DOWNPOUR RIGHT NOW AND IT COULD NOT BE DRIVEN THERE. THE SHOP SAID THE MOTOR WAS FINE, IT WAS THE WIPER TRANSMISSION THAT IS COMPLETELY BURNT OUT/SHOT! THIS CAR IS 4 YEARS OLD THE WIPER TRANSMISSION SHOULD NOT BE COMPLETELY SHOT/BURNT OUT.
CAR STALLS WHEN STOPPED AT RED LIGHT
DURING PERIOD OF HEAVY RAIN, WIPERS STOPPED WORKING WHILE DRIVING APPROX 60MPH CAUSING SEVERE VISIBILITY ISSUES. HAD TO PULL CAR TO SIDE OF ROAD WAITING FOR RAIN TO STOP BEFORE PROCEEDING. ISSUE CAUSED BY FAULTY WIPER TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY. VEHICLE HAS APPROX 74000 MILES. *TR
Due to an oil consumption issue the engine failed while there was still 1000+ miles before the next oil change was due. There was no warning light indication that the vehicle needed oil. Needed to replace the entire engine. After engine was replaced we were required to monitor the oil consumption consistently. The issue continued and oil had to be monitored and changed more often than manufacturer recommendations. The vehicle was brought to an independent service center who then performed the work to replace the engine. Before the vehicle was brought to an independent service center we went directly to the Chevy Dealer that we bought the vehicle from. They wanted nothing to do with it and did not even offer to inspect the vehicle.
WINDSHIELD WIPERS STOPPED WORKING WHILE DRIVING IN THE RAIN. CLIMATE CONTROL SWITCH IS FAULTY. *TR
THE CHROME PLATING ON THE INSIDE DOOR HANDLES ARE LIFTING FROM THE PLASTIC. THE CHROME PLATING IS SHARP LIKE A SHEET METAL MATERIAL AND SLICED OPEN MY HUSBAND'S MIDDLE FINGER WHEN HE WAS OPENING THE DOOR TO EXIT THE VEHICLE. IT SLICED SO DEEP HE REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE CHROME PLATING IS ALSO LIFTING FROM OTHER AREAS ON THE DASH AND INNER DOORS.
MY 2016 CHEVY EQUINOX RANDOMLY STALLS WHILE DRIVING, AT ANY RANDOM TIME. NO LIGHTS OR WARNINGS GO OFF TO LET ME KNOW THAT THIS IS GOING TO HAPPEN, IT JUST STOPS. EVERYTHING TURNS OFF, THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKS AND ALL POWER SHUTS OFF. YOU HAVE TO STOP AND THROW IT IN PARK AND RESTART IT. IT USUALLY DOES RESTART RIGHT AWAY BUT THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. MOST OF THE TIME IT HAPPENS WHEN YOU TRY TO MOVE FROM A COMPLETE STOP OR SLOW DOWN, BUT IT HAS HAPPENED A FEW TIMES WHILE IN DRIVE. VEHICLE STALLS WHEN IN MOTION AND WHEN STOPPED. VEHICLE STALLED ON RESIDENTIAL ROADS. I BELIEVE THE PROBLEM COULD BE THE PISTON RINGS OR CRANK SENSOR. *TR
As I exit off of any freeway or go down any incline I tap the brakes to take the car down slowly and it cannot seem to grab the brakes? It shimmies as it’s going down although I’m trying to keep steering wheel completely straight. Chevy dealer has check this problem twice it is never the brakes but they cannot tell me what the problem is. Meanwhile I’m driving an unsafe vehicle. Also it has previous owner damage when I bought the car they stated the car has never been in an accident.
STEADY OIL LEAK THAT CONTINUES WHEN THE VEHICLE IS PARKED. POOLS OF OIL FORM UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE WHEN IT IS STATIONARY. OIL MAY ALSO BE LEAKING WHILE IN MOTION. MECHANIC THINKS THAT IT IS THE REAR MAIN SEAL. THE LEAK WAS FIRST ADDRESSED AT 51,000 MILES, WITHOUT SUCCESS.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE LOST MOTIVE POWER, BRAKING AND THE STEERING FUNCTIONALITY FOR APPROXIMATELY THREE SECONDS WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STILL IDLED DURING THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS INTERMITTENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER OR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 47,000.
The contact owns a 2016 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated while starting the vehicle, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed. The cam shaft was replaced but the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the dealer stated the cam shaft needed to be replaced. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and the mechanic replaced the timing belt, but the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken back to the independent mechanic and the timing belt was replaced again, but the failure persisted. The engine power reduced message was illuminated. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 64,000. The contact stated that this is not their vehicle or their complaint.
THE WIPER ASSEMBLY IS FAULTY. THE RINGS THAT ATTACH THE WIPERS TO THE MOTOR ASSEMBLY HAS BROKEN 3 TIMES. CONTACTED A GM DEALER AND THEY NO LONGER REPAIR THE RINGS BUT HAVE RESORTED TO A WHOLE NEW ASSEMBLY, BUT IT IS THE SAME ASSEMBLY AS THE ORIGINAL AND WILL MOST LIKELY BREAK AGAIN, JUST NOT AS QUICKLY. I HAVE BEEN IN BAD WEATHER (RAIN,SNOW) SITUATIONS INCLUDING DURING MEDIUM SNOW ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN IT GAVE OUT. I COULD BARELY SEE TO EVEN PULL OF THE HIGHWAY DUE TO THE FALLING SNOW AND FROM SEMIS AND OTHER VEHICLE SPRAY. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT SHOULD BE RESOLVED IMMEDIATELY.
WHILE DRIVING, AT 55MPH MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WITHOUT WARNING AND THE DASH SHOWED "SERVICE STABILITRAK" AND THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY REDUCED SPEED TO AROUND 30MPH BEFORE I COULD APPLY THE GAS. I IMMEDIATELY TOO THE VEHICLE TO MONRO MUFFLER AND BRAKE FOR SERVICE. WHEN I ARRIVED, I WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD NO OIL. I PERFORMED REGULAR OIL CHANGES ON THIS VEHICLE. THERE WAS NO INDICATION ABOUT LOW OIL PRESSURE, THE VEHICLE DID NOT OVERHEAT. THE ENGINE NOW NEEDS TO BE REPLACED.
TRUCK WAS SPUTTERING WHILE DRIVING AND COULD SMELL OIL & HAD SMOKE COMING FROM BACK. TOOK TO CHEVY DEALER IN JANUARY. DEALER REPLACED MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR & BORED/RESET THROTTLE BODY & RESET IDLE. THEY CLAIMED THERE WASNT A LEAK. TWO WEEKS LATER OIL WAS POURING FROM UNDER MY TRUCK & IT WAS BACK AT THE DEALER WITH PROOF OF A MASSIVE LEAK. THEY KEPT MY TRUCK TIL MARCH 23 AND IT WAS THE PCV PORT HAD TO BE MODIFIED AND BLOWN REAR MAIN SEAL ON THE ENGINE ($1,948). I ONLY HAVE 65,000 MILES ON IT. RESEARCHING 2016 MODEL, I FOUND THE MAIN ISSUES ARE THE PCV PORT & REAR MAIN SEAL AND THE FACT THAT GENERAL MOTORS WAS & IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM! WHY ISNT SOMETHING BEING DONE?
RECEIVED LETTER "SOME VEHICLES MAY HAVE A CONDITION WHERE A LINK BALL SOCKET IN THE WIPER TRANSMISSION MAY SEPARATE. IF THIS WERE TO OCCUR THE DRIVER WOULD EXPERIENCE A SUDDEN LOSS OF WIPER FUNCTION"
WHILE DRIVING MY EQUINOX IN THE RAIN THROUGH TOWN, THE WIPERS STOPPED WORKING. I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY PULL OFF THE ROAD AND PUSH THEM DOWN WITHOUT ANY RESISTANCE. THE WIPER MOTOR WAS STILL RUNNING BUT THE WIPER BLADES DID NOT MOVE. I CONTACTED MY LOCAL CHEVY DEALER AND TOLD THEM WHAT HAPPENED. THEY GAVE ME AN APPOINTMENT AND SAID THEIR WAS A RECALL TO REPLACE WIPER TRANSMISSION ARM AND IT WAS COVERED UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. THIS IS THE SECOND TRANSMISSION ARM TO BE REPLACED ON THIS VEHICLE.
THE TIMING BELT ON MY ENGINE WENT OUT RESULTING IN MY VEHICLE DYING WHENEVER MY CAR IDLED LOW. IF I DIDN?T CONSTANTLY GIVE IT SOME GAS, THE CAR WOULD SHUT OFF. THIS WOULD HAPPEN AT RED LIGHTS AND STOP SIGN WHERE I COULDN?T GIVE THE CAR GAS, SO I?D END UP STOPPING IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION WITH INCOMING TRAFFIC. I HAD TO GET MY CAR REPAIRED AND TWO DIFFERENT MECHANICS (ONE AT A CHEVY DEALERSHIP) SAID THAT TIMING BELTS ARE AN ISSUE WITH CHEVY EQUINOX. THIS WAS THE VERY FIRST REPAIR I NEEDED DONE ON MY CAR AND AT ONLY 77,000 MILES. THE MECHANIC AT THE DEALERSHIP SAID I?D MOST LIKELY ONLY GET ANOTHER 50,000 MILES OUT OF THE ENGINE. THAT WOULD BE SHORT OF 130,000 MILES. I THINK IF TIMING BELTS ARE SUCH AND ISSUE WITH THIS MODEL OF VEHICLE THEN THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THEM.
WE RECEIVED A LETTER FROM GM SAYING THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS COULD FAIL, HOWEVER THEY AREN'T FIXING THE ISSUE UNLESS THEY ACTUALLY FAIL. HOW IS THIS A SAFE SITUATION? THEY HAVE A KNOW ISSUE BUT WON'T FIX IT UNLESS I'M DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY IN A STORM AND MY WIPERS FAIL? IS THIS REALLY ACCEPTABLE? ATTACHING A COPY OF THE LETTER.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. WHILE DRIVING AT 15 MPH, THE VEHICLE HESITATED WITH NO WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. AFTER ARRIVING HOME, THE CONTACT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND BECAME AWARE OF AN OIL LEAK UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO A CLOGGED PCV VALVE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 104,000.
WINDSHIELD WIPERS IN FRONT STOPPED WORKING WHILE DRIVING IN WET WEATHER

EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION WITHOUT ANY WARNING LIGHTS DROVE CAR WITH NO OIL IN ENGINE
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEED THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING ILLUMINATED WITH AN ABNORMAL SOUND COMING FROM THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN HOME WHERE IT STALLED. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS OIL UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE ON THE GROUND HOWEVER, THERE WAS NO SIGN OF A VISIBLE LEAK. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO (STILLWATER MOTORS CHEVROLET & BUICK 5900 STILLWATER BLVD N, STILLWATER, MN 55082 (651) 439-4333) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE INTAKE MANIFOLD AND PCV VALVE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE BUT NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 68,000.
THE OLDER MODEL EQUINOX HAD AN ISSUE WITH IT'S HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP, SO DID MY NEWER 2016. IT FAILED AND WAS PUSHING FUEL INTO THE ENGINE AT EXTREME LEVELS. THIS CAUSED THE ENGINE TO STOP WORKING PROPERLY AND FAIL. THE GM TECHNICIANS SAID THEY FIXED THE ISSUE RECENTLY, BUT WOULD NOT GO ON. I WAS DRIVING IN A POTENTIAL FIRE STARTER. THE ACTUAL ISSUE HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING AT 35 MPH, THE ENGINE BLEW UP AND LUCKILY DID NOT START A FIRE WITH THE AMOUNT OF GAS THAT WAS IN THE ENGINE.
MY COMPLAINT & SAFETY CONCERN RELATES TO THE DEEP WINDOW TINTING THAT IS ALLOWED IN MANY OF THE SOUTHERN STATES AND IT'S IMPACT ON ACCIDENTS -- PEDESTRIAN, BICYCLISTS, AND OTHER MOTORISTS (MOTORCYCLES INCLUDED). THE AMOUNT OF ALLOWABLE TINTING HAS TO IMPACT PEOPLE'S SAFETY -- ESPECIALLY AT NIGHT, DURING RAINSTORMS, FOG, ETC. WITH MORE MOTORISTS ON THE ROADS, I SHOULD THINK IT'S TIME TO REVISIT THE TINTING LAWS. THANK YOU!

VEHICLE WAS PARKED,STARTED FINE BACKED UP OUT OF SPACE. WHEN PULLING FORWARD THE WARNING BUSSER CAME ON AND DISPLAY READ STABIL TRACK. PULLED TO SIDE OF ROAD AND TURNED OFF ENGINE AFTER 2MIN. I RESTARTED ENGINE, THE WARNING STAYED ON. DROVE ABOUT 3 MILES TO DEALERSHIP,WAS TOLD TO DRIVE IT AS APPT NOT AVAILBLE TILL TUES. ENGINE SLOWED DOWN COULD ONLY GET TO 35MPH. AFTER ANOTHER 5MILES IT STARTED WORKING SO WE WERE ABLE TO GET HOME. I HAVE DONE ALL REQUIRED MATENIACE HAVE 69,000 MILES ON IT, NOW. IF THIS IS A MAJOR PROBLEM WHEN I REACH THIS MILAGE, WHAT IS MY RECOURSE?
WIPERS SUDDENLY STOP WORKING WHEN DRIVING
ON DECEMBER 10TH, 2019, AS I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK ON INTERSTATE 694 IN ARDEN HILLS MN, THE ENGINE STARTED MAKING A GRINDING NOISE, AND THEN EVENTUALLY STALLED. NO WARNING LIGHTS INDICATING A PROBLEM EVER CAME ON. I HAD IT TOWED TO THE NEAREST CHEVROLET DEALERSSHIP, AND 2 DAYS LATER WAS INFORMED BY THEM THAT THE ENGINE HAD RUN OUT OF OIL, AND I WOULD NEED A NEW ENGINE THAT WOULD COST ME $8500. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET, I DISCOVERED THAT EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THIS MOTOR, THE 2.4L ECOTEC. THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ON THE INTERNET. A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT FILED AGAINST GM RESULTED IN A $42 MILLION JUDGEMENT AGAINST GM, BUT IT ONLY COVERED MODEL YEARS 2010-2013. A 2ND CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT HAS BEEN FILED AGAINST GM TO COVER MODEL YEARS 2014-2017, THIS LAWSUIT IS STILL WORKING IT'S WAY THROUGH THE COURTS. GM HAS REFUSED TO REPAIR MY VEHICLE AT THEIR EXPENSE, EVEN THOUGH THIS IS A WIDELY KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THIS ENGINE. INITIALLY THE REAR MAIN SEAL WAS LEAKING OR BROKEN; ALL THE OIL DRAINED FROM THE VEHICLE. AFTER SPENDING $992.60 I WAS ADVISED THAT THE TIMING CHANGE AND GUIDES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I'VE HAD THE VVT CELANIDE REPLACED AS WELL AS THE CRANK AND CAM SHAFT SENSORS; THE VVT GEARS AND AN OIL PUMP REBUILD...$2017.60 LATER, MY TRUCK DROVE FOR APPROXIMATELY 3 MILES WHERE IT DIED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I HAVE NOT DRIVEN MY CAR (ASIDE FROM THE 3 MILES) IN NEARLY 2 MONTHS. NOW I'M BEING TOLD THEY THINK IT MAY BE ELECTRICAL. MY TRUCK HAS LESS THAN 100,000 MILES ON IT. I'VE HEARD FROM NUMEROUS GOGGLE SEARCHES THAT GM IS AWARE OF THE ISSUES WITH THIS MOTOR/VEHICLE AND HAS DONE NOTHING TO REMEDY THE PROBLEM. I AM A SINGLE MOTHER OF 4; I BOUGHT THIS TRUCK BRAND NEW TO SAFELY TRANSPORT MY CHILDREN HERE, THERE AND EVERYWHERE. THIS CAR JUST CUT OFF IN THE DEAD OF WINTER COMING OFF THE HIGHWAY...IT LITERALLY STOPPED IN MID ACCELERATION. HOW LONG BEFORE SOME ONE IS SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED?
