TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET HHR. THE CONTACT STATED THE KEY WOULD NOT TURN IN THE IGNITION SWITCH. THERE WERE SEVERAL ATTEMPTS BEFORE THE VEHICLE FUNCTIONED NORMALLY. IN ADDITION, THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 32,000. *TR
NEVER RECEIVED ANY WARNINGS THAT ALL OF THE ENGINE CYLINDERS WERE CRACKED WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE TEMPERATURE GOING INTO COOLING MODE ONE TIME. TOOK IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND ASKED THEM TO CHECK IT OUT WHILE IT WAS THERE. ENTIRE ENGINE NEEDED REPAIRED AT 50,547 MILES. ALL CYLINDER SLEEVES CRACKED, REPLACED HEAD GASKET, HEAD INTAKE AND ALL SEALS, GASKETS AND O-RINGS. *TR
I BOUGHT MY 2011 CHEVY HHR FROM CARMAX. WHEN I FIRST PURCHASED IT, IT WAS PULLING TO THE LEFT. THEY DID AN ALIGNMENT AND AFTER IT WAS STILL PULLING TO THE LEFT. THEY REPLACED ALL OF THE SHOCKS AND STRUTS AND REALIGNED IT. IT IS STILL PULLING TO THE LEFT AND THEY HAVE NO REASONING BEHIND IT AND THEY CAN NOT FIX THE ISSUE. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS!! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET HHR. THE CONTACT STATED THE KEY WAS ABLE TO BE REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION WITHOUT SHUTTING OFF THE ENGINE. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A NOTIFICATION FOR RECALL NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V047000 (AIR BAGS, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) AND NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V171000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED IN REGARDS TO THE RECALLS. HOWEVER, THE MANUFACTURER DECLINED TO PROVIDE AN ESTIMATED TIME FRAME OF WHEN THE VEHICLE WOULD BE SERVICED UNDER BOTH RECALLS. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND MADE THE CONTACT AWARE THAT THERE WAS WAITING LIST OF OVER 222 VEHICLES THAT NEEDED TO BE SERVICED UNDER THE RECALLS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATELY FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET HHR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH, ANOTHER VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE AND THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND THE DRIVER SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES AND REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. IN ADDITION THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, THE BRAKES, ESC, SBC, AND THE LOW TRACTION WARNING LAMPS WERE ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 51,000, AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 52,000.
I WAS INVOLVED IN A MULTIPLE CAR ACCIDENT WHERE A DRIVER HIT MYSELF AND SEVERAL OTHER DRIVERS IN ICY CONDITIONS. THE AIRBAGS IN MY CAR DID NOT DEPLOY, LEAVING ME WITH MULTIPLE BRUISES AND SORENESS EVEN WEEKS AFTER THE ACCIDENT. I ALSO SUSTAINED A NECK STRAIN DURING THE ACCIDENT, AND INJURED MY KNEE. *TR
STEERING SHAKES VIOLENTLY WHEN BRAKING FROM 45 MPH AND SLOWER CAUSING THE CAR TO TRY TO CHANGE POSITION IN THE LANE. THERE IS A NOISE OF SOMETHING LOOSE IN THE LEFT FRONT WHEN BRAKING OR HITTING BUMPS OR ON ROUGH ROADS. BRAKE PEDAL PULSES. ALL THIS HAPPENS WHEN DRIVING UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITION. THIS IS AN UNSAFE CONDITION AND NEEDS THE NHTSA ATTENTION. *TR
2011 CHEVROLET HHR. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE ACCELERATION ISSUES. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED WHILE DRIVING, SHE NOTICED THE VEHICLE EXHIBIT A BOOST/JERK TYPE MOVEMENT, AND IT MADE A STRANGE NOISE. WHEN SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, SHE WAS INFORMED THE PROBLEM WAS A SPARK PLUG AND THEY FIXED IT. HOWEVER, ONE NIGHT WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE ONCE AGAIN EXHIBITED THE SAME BOOST/JERK MOVEMENT, AS IF SHE SUDDENLY HIT THE BRAKE, AS THE VEHICLE WAS LOSING SPEED, UNTIL IT SHUT DOWN COMPLETELY. SHE WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER, TURN THE VEHICLE OFF, AND RE-STARTED IT AGAIN WITH NO PROBLEM. A MONTH LATER, THE SAME THING HAPPENED, ONLY THAT TIME, THE ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL LIGHT STARTED BLINKING, FOLLOWED BY A STRANGE NOISE. THE ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL LIGHT ILLUMINATED AGAIN IN MAY 2014. *JB
MERGING INTO TRAFFIC CAR STOPPED IN FRONT OF ME I PRESSED THE BRAKES AND THE RENTAL JUST CONTINUE TO SLIDE INTO THE CAR CAUSING REAR END ACCIDENT WARNING LIGHTS IN DASH CONTROL TRACTION SERVICE AND ENGINE SERVICE SOON LOW OILS LIGHTS LOUD NOISE FROM BRAKES LOINS NOISE FROM UNDERPARTS
I WILL BE GOING DOWN THE ROAD AND THE HEAD LIGHTS AND DASH LIGHTS WILL GO OUT BEEN IN THE SHOP 10 TIMES TOTAL STILL CANT FIX
IN COLDER TEMPERATURES MY CAR SPUTTERS WHEN ACCELERATING AND RPMS JUMP QUICKLY FROM 2 TO 3 AND THEN BACK DOWN. IN ADDITION, THE RADIO MAY TURN OFF, ALL DASH GAUGES (FUEL, SPEED, RPMS) GO TO 0, VARIOUS SERVICE LIGHTS COME ON (NOT ALWAYS THE SAME) AND THEN EVERYTHING GOES BACK TO NORMAL. CAR WORKS FINE IN WARMER TEMPERATURES. TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP IN 2013 AND WHEN PLUGGED IN THERE WERE REPORTS IF 20 THINGS WRONG AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE PROBLEM AND SAID IT WOULD COST THOUSAND TO CHECK ALL OF THE ISSUES BEING REPORTED. I CONTACTED GM CUSTOMER SERVICE AND ALTHOUGH THEY WERE VERY NICE THEY WEREN'T ABLE TO HELP DETERMINE WHAT THE ISSUE WITH MY VEHICLE WAS. I TOOK IT TO ANOTHER SERVICE PLACE AND WHILE THEY WERE UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE ULTIMATE PROBLEM THEY PUT DIELECTRIC GREASE ON ALL MY ELECTRONIC CONNECTIONS IN THE FUSE BOX UNDER THE HOOD AND IT WORKED FINE THE REST IF THE WINTER. THEY SAID IT WAS A GOOD THING THAT I CAME IN WHEN I DID BECAUSE THEY THOUGHT IF I DROVE IT ANY LONGER I WOULD HAVE DESTROYED THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. IN 2014, I HAD THEM DO THE SAME "FIX". NOW IN 2015 IT HAS STARTED BACK UP AGAIN.
MY HUSBAND AND I PURCHASED A VEHICLE FROM A CHEVY DEALERSHIP AND WITHIN A COUPLE OF MONTHS THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR STOPPED OPENING FROM THE INSIDE. THEREFORE WE HAVE TO OPEN THE DOOR FROM THE OUTSIDE TO GET OUT OR CRAWL TO THE PASSENGER DOOR TO GET OUT. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD FOR ANYONE WHO GETS IN A CAR ACCIDENT, OR ANYONE HAVING A CAR ISSUE. I HAVE TALKED TO MANY PEOPLE I KNOW WHO HAVE THE SAME CAR AND THEY HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. I WOULD GET IT FIXED BUT WE DON'T HAVE THE MONEY. MY HUSBAND WOULD FIX IT BUT THEN IT WOULD VOID MY WARRANTY. ALSO HAD MY CAR BROUGHT FOR IGNITION RECALL GOT IT FIXED AND TOLD THEM ABOUT MY AIR BAG LIGHT COMING ON AND OFF. THIS IS ALSO A MAJOR PROBLEM AND NEEDS TO GET FIXED, I HAVE 3 CHILDREN AND THEY WONT TELL ME WHICH ONE IS FAULTY IF ANY. AS WELL NO MONEY TO FIX IT. $100 DEDUCTIBLE EVERY TIME TO JUST CHECK IS NOT VERY REASONABLE. *TR
I AM 1 PERSON, AND MY DOOR HANDLES ON THE INSIDE ARE PLASTIC AND HAVE BROKEN OFF! I HAVE TO CLIMB TO THE BACK AND HAVE 1 DOOR THAT STILL HAS A HANDLE WORKING! I ONLY HAVE 48000 MILES ON IT! THE HANDLES ARE CHEAP PLASTIC AND I LIVE IN FFLORIDA AND IT GETS HOT!
I'VE BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH MY RIGHT FRONT END SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR. WHEN I CUT THE WHEEL HARD TO THE RIGHT, IT MAKES A LOUD THUMPING NOISE LIKE SOMETHING IS GOING TO POP OFF. IT MAKES THE MOST NOISE IN A SLOW OR PARKING MOVEMENT. THEN I TAKE IT IN AND THEY PUMP UP THE TIRES WITH AIR, AND SAY THERE'S NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. THEN THE AIR LOW LIGHT FOR THE TIRES COMES ON. YOU FILL IT UP, AND THEN ANOTHER ONE COMES ON. THEN CHECK THE AIR BAG POPS ON. I'VE EVEN EXPERIENCED THE CAR LITERALLY FEELING LIKE THE MOTOR IDLING REAL LOW TO ALMOST SHUT OFF. THIS HAS HAPPENED ATLEAST 3 TIMES. I WAS ONLY DOING ABOUT 25 MILES AN HOUR, BUT IT WAS REALLY COLD OUTSIDE. EVERYTIME I HAVE TAKEN IT FOR REPAIR, THEY HAVE SAID, WE CAN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. *TR
I GRABBED THE DOOR HANDLE TO OPEN MY CHEVY 2011 HHR DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR TO EXIT MY VEHICLE AND THE HANDLE COMPLETELY BROKE OFF!!! I HAVE NEVER HAD THIS KIND OF THING HAPPEN BEFORE AND AM NOT SURE WHY A CAR MANUFACTURER WOULD BE ALLOWED TO MAKE ONE OF THE MOST INTEGRAL PARTS OF A VEHICLE OUT OF CHEAP MATERIAL. TO ADD INSULT TO INJURY, THE DEALERSHIP IS HINTING THAT I MAY HAVE TO BEAR THE RESPONSIBILITY OF PAYING SOMETHING TO FIX THIS ISSUE BY BRINGING THE CAR IN TO SEE IF THE ISSUE IS COVERED BY AN EXTENDED WARRANTY OR COVERED AT ALL. THIS ISSUE SHOULD BE A RECALL NO BRAINER, I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO COVER THE COST TO FIX THIS IN ANY WAY. ALSO TO MY SURPRISE, THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON COMPLAINT AMONGST CHEVY 2006-2011 HHR OWNERS WHERE THEY HAVE BEEN TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIPS THAT IT WOULD COST THEM BETWEEN 300 & 400 DOLLARS TO "REPLACE THE ENTIRE DOOR PANEL" OR THEY HAVE BEEN TOLD BY GM THAT A "DIAGNOSTIC" HAS TO BE DONE THAT MIGHT COST THEM OUT OF POCKET MONEY. BOTH SCENARIOS ARE ABSOLUTELY INSANE. I AM NOT SURE WHY THIS HAS NOT BEEN MADE A RECALL ISSUE, THEREBY FORCING GM TO FIX THIS PROBLEM AT NO COST TO THE CONSUMER???? IT IS A MANUFACTURING ISSUE AS WELL AS SAFETY ISSUE. IF SOMETHING HAPPENS AND I NEED TO EXIT THE VEHICLE QUICKLY, I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO DO IT. ALSO, I LIVE IN CHICAGO AND AS EVERYONE KNOWS IT IS COMING UPON THE WINTER SEASON AND IF LAST YEAR WAS ANY INDICATION, WE COULD BE IN FOR ANOTHER BRUTAL WINTER WHERE BELOW ZERO TEMPERATURES HAVE A FREEZING EFFECT ON POWER WINDOWS, WHICH IS MY CURRENT METHOD OF EXITING THE VEHICLE. I PURCHASED THIS CAR IN MAR. OF 2014 AND THIS IS NOT SOMETHING I WOULD HAVE KNOWN TO EVEN CONSIDER TO THINK ABOUT BECAUSE I THOUGHT THIS IS THE KIND OF THING THAT YOUR AGENCY SHOULD BE ON TOP OF. I WAS IN A CAR ACCIDENT OCTOBER 30TH 2013 IN MY CHEVY HHR. I WAS ON MY WAY TO WORK AND I HAD CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP AT A STOP LIGHT BEHIND ANOTHER VEHICLE. FIVE SECONDS THERE AFTER STOPPING I FELT THIS HUGE PUSH BEHIND ME THAT CAUSE ME TO SLIDE INTO THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. IN THIS ACCIDENT I HAVE SUBSTAINED INJURIES OF A BRUISE STERNUM, STRAIN BACK AND NECK (WHIP LASH) AND A SPRAINED KNEE (RESULTED IN A TORN MANISCUS) THAT WAS SLAMMED INTO THE DASH BOARD IN FRONT OF ME. NO AIR BAGS DEPLOYED!! I WAS IN TOTAL SHOCK AND WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE ER BY AMBULANCE WHILE MY CAR WAS TOWED TO A TOW COMPANIES LOT, TO LATER BE TOWED TO A CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR. I CURRENTLY TREAT WITH A PHYSICAL THERAPIST FOR MY INJURIES. *TR
I WAS DRIVING TO WORK THIS MORNING. I LIVE JUST 5 MINUTES FROM THE OFFICE. I PULLED OUT OF THE PARKING LOT AND WAS GOING ABOUT 5MPH WHEN SUDDENLY THE ESC ACTIVE LIGHT APPEARED ON THE DASH, THEN A YELLOW TRIANGLE WARNING STARTED FLASHING. THE TRANSMISSION FELT LIKE IT STARTED TO SHAKE AND THE CAR DECELERATED ON ITS OWN. I APPLIED THE BRAKES, PUT THE CAR IN PARK, AND THE WARNINGS WENT AWAY. THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN SO I STARTED TO ACCELERATE AND AGAIN, THE SAME WARNINGS. HELP! THE ROADS WERE NOT WET, I WAS NEVER ABOVE 8MPH WHEN THESE TWO INCIDENTS OCCURRED. THANK YOU. *TR

THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE DRIVER HAD TO EXIT THE VEHICLE USING THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND NO SOLUTION WAS OFFERED. WENT TO PULL INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE ON DRIVER SIDE AND IT CAME OFF IN MY HAND. USED SAME AMOUNT OF FORCE TO OPEN AS I HAVE EVERY OTHER PREVIOUS TIME. *TR
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, ALL FUEL INJECTORS NEEDED REPLACED. 15,000 LATER THE ENTIRE ENGINE NEEDED REPAIRED (SEPARATE COMPLAINT). *TR
BOTH REAR DOOR LATCHES HAVE BEEN GIVING PROBLEMS. LH DOOR LATCH STICKS AND NOW RH REAR DOOR LATCH WILL NOT LATCH. HAVE A BUNGY CORD BETWEEN DOORS TO KEEP SHUT. SAFETY ISSUE!!! NO RECALLS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET HHR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE GEAR SHIFTER MALFUNCTIONED AND BECAME STUCK IN PARK. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO MOVE THE SHIFTER AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS. THE SHIFTER COULD ALSO BE ENGAGED WITHOUT THE CONTACT APPLYING THE BRAKES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 66,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET HHR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED MORE THAN FIVE TIMES, WHICH RESULTED IN TWO CRASHES. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AFTER EACH CRASH. THE FIRST CRASH OCCURRED WHEN THE VEHICLE STALLED AND STRUCK THE FRONT OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE BRAKES FAILED TO STOP THE VEHICLE PROPERLY. THE CONTACT AND PASSENGER SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES. THE SECOND CRASH OCCURRED WHEN THE VEHICLE STALLED AND WAS CRASHED INTO A TREE. POLICE REPORTS WERE FILED FOR BOTH CRASHES. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES AND THE PASSENGER SUSTAINED A BROKEN SHOULDER. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS RECEIVED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AFTER BOTH CRASHES. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14E021000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM); HOWEVER, THE PARTS NEEDED FOR THE REPAIR WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE AND SPEED WERE UNKNOWN.
DRIVING ON I-25 ON THE WEST SIDE OF EISENHOWER PASS & THE ENGINE SHUT OFF LEAVING ME WITH NO POWER STEERING OR BREAKS. I WAS ABLE TO THREAD MY VEHICLE THROUGH SEMIS & SPRING BREAK SKI TRAFFIC TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TO A RUNAWAY SEMI LANE. THE CAR RESTARTED AFTER I STOPPED SHAKING & WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT HOME TO BASALT. 2 MONTHS LATER THE SAME THING HAPPENED ON CO HWY 82 ON A STRAIGHT AWAY BETWEEN CARBONDALE & GLENWOOD SPRINGS. I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY MANEUVER THE CAR TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. BOTH TIMES I CHECKED THE INTERNET FOR RECALL INFORMATION FINDING NOTHING. THE RECENT MEDIA ATTENTION ALERTED ME TO THE CURRENT RECALL & HAVE CALLED MY DEALERSHIP & MADE AN APPOINTMENT FOR THE IGNITION SWITCH TO BE REPLACED. *JS
I HAVE ALREADY FILED ONE COMPLAINT LAST MONTH!! HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY REPLY BACK BY NO ONE. MY TCN WAS [XXX]. THIS CAR IS DANGEROUS TO BE DRIVING, COPS HAVE PULLED ME OVER SEVERAL TIMES DUE TO SOME THE PROBLEMS! ALL 7 OFFICERS GAVE ME THEIR NAMES AND BADGE NUMBERS N THEY TOLD ME IF I NEED TO TAKE THIS TO COURT, THEY WILL BE N COURT.. I BOUGHT THE HHR WITH 12000 MILES ON IT, FROM A GM DEALER. I TOLD THEM THE CAR PULLED TO THE LEFT, AND THEY SAID THEY WOULD FIX IT. IT HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER TWICE, AND THEY SAY EVERYTHING IS WITHIN TOLERANCES. STILL PULLS TO THE LEFT. ALSO THE RIGHT FRONT TIRE IS WEARING OUT, BUT NOT THE OTHERS. *TR

I WAS INSURED AT THE DEALERSHIP THAT IT WAS BECAUSE IT HAS NEW BRAKES AND IF IT DOES NOT STOP BRING IT BACK AND THEY WILL FIX IT. I BROUGHT IT BACK AND THEY ROTATED THE ROTORS. IT WORKED WELL FOR ABOUT TWO WEEKS. THE ROTORS STARTED SHAKING AGAIN AFTER ONLY TWO WEEKS. SO I BROUGHT IT BACK AGAIN AND THEY PUT NEW ROTORS ON THE VEHICLE. IT HAS STARTED AGAIN WITH THE NEW ROTORS. THIS TIME IT STARTED WITH IN A MONTH. MY CAR WHILE BREAKING WILL SOMETIME FEEL LIKE THERE IS ICE UNDER IT ON DRY ROADS. THE ANTI-THEFT CODE REVEALED UNRECOGNIZED KEY BUT NO CODE TO REPAIR (JAN.2015) THE LIGHT HAS COME ON 5 TIMES AND NOT STARTED ON ONE OCCASION, SINCE THE RECALL REPAIR. I AM TOLD BY MECHANICS THAT THE LIGHT MUST BE ON FOR THEM TO RETRIEVE A REPAIR CODE. HOWEVER, WHEN THE CAR IS SHUT OFF THE LIGHT GOES OFF. THE ANTI-THEFT LIGHT PROBLEM CAN WAIT MONTHS BEFORE SURFACING AGAIN. I BELIEVE IT COULD BE DANGEROUS TO DRIVE BECAUSE OF PAST CASES OF OTHER SIMILAR CARS WITH ANTI-THEFT/AIRBAG ISSUES. LAST JUNE, MY WIFE AND I PURCHASED A BRAND NEW 2011 HHR IN ORDER TO PROVIDE A SAFER, MORE DEPENDABLE VEHICLE FOR OUR TEENAGE DAUGHTERS TO LEARN TO DRIVE AND TO HAVE ENOUGH ROOM TO TAKE OUR DOGS WITH US WHEN WE WANTED TO GO SOMEWHERE AS A FAMILY. IN JANUARY, ON ONE OF THE DAYS WE ACTUALLY HAD SNOW ON THE GROUND, I CAME TO AN INTERSECTION, TRIED TO STOP, COULDN'T, AND SLID THROUGH. A CAR IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION MADE A LEFT TURN, NOT REALIZING I COULDN'T STOP, HIT ME ON THE FRONT LEFT SIDE OF THE HHR, TURNING ME 90 DEGREES FROM THE DIRECTION I WAS GOING AND CAUSING OVER $8,000 OF DAMAGE TO THE CAR. THE GOOD NEWS IS THAT NO ONE WAS HURT. WHEN I GOT HOME, THE FIRST THING MY WIFE ASKED WAS, DID I GET TO SEE WHAT MY AIRBAG LOOKED LIKE? I REALIZED MY AIRBAGS NEVER DEPLOYED. WHY? ALSO, WHY DIDN'T THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES STOP THE CAR, OR AT LEAST SLOW IT DOWN? AFTER REPEATED COMPLAINTS, THE DEALER DID FINALLY GET A REPRESENTATIVE FROM GM TO LOOK INTO IT, PULL THE BLACK BOX AND SEE IF WE HAD A REAL ISSUE. THIS ACCIDENT HAPPENED ON JANUARY 18, AND ON MARCH 9TH, I FINALLY GOT A FORM LETTER FROM ESIS/GM BASICALLY CLAIMING THE CAR PERFORMED AS IT SHOULD. THE LETTER ALSO STATED I SHOULD KEEP THE CAR IN AN UN-REPAIRED CONDITION UNTIL THE DISPUTE IS RESOLVED. A DAY BEFORE I GOT THE LETTER, THE DEALER CALLED TO TELL ME THE REPAIRS ON THE CAR WERE ALMOST DONE. THEY KNEW WE WERE DISPUTING IT AND FIXED THE CAR ANYWAY. GM STATED I WOULD HAVE HAD TO STEP ON THE BRAKES SEVEN SECONDS FROM THE LIGHT IN ORDER TO STOP IN TIME. AT 30 MPH, WHICH IS THE SPEED I WAS TRAVELING AT, I WOULD TRAVEL 616 FEET IN 7 SECONDS, THAT'S TWO FOOTBALL FIELDS. AT THAT DISTANCE THE LIGHT WAS STILL GREEN. I HAVE WRITTEN LOCAL LAWMAKERS, MY CONGRESSMAN, AND THE STATE ATTORNEY GENERAL ON THIS MATTER. THIS CAR NEEDS TO BE RECALLED BECAUSE OF THE FAILURE OF THE BRAKES AND AIRBAGS. THE ELECTRONIC BRAKE CONTROL MODEL WAS ALSO REPLACED. THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO OCCUR AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED FOR THE RECENT FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 23,658.

CALLED GM AND THEY OFFERED RENTAL CAR UNTIL IGNITION PARTS COME IN BUT WILL REPLACE ESC SENSOR AT MY COST. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET HHR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL WOULD ENGAGE INDEPENDENTLY AS THE SERVICE ESC WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE FAILURE ONLY OCCURRED WITH THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WHEEL AND WOULD FEEL SIMILAR TO THE WHEEL SEIZING. THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED BY THE DEALER BUT THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE ERROR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER WAS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM, BUT THEY COULD NOT DETERMINE HOW TO REMEDY THE PROBLEM. DRIVER ARMREST SAGS; MOST UNCOMFORTABLE!! WHEN ARMREST IS PUT DOWN TO THE HORIZONTAL POSITION, IT SAGS (LEANS FORWARD). DRIVER'S RIGHT ARM BECOMES PAINFUL, AS IT IS CONTINUALLY SLIDING OFF THE FRONT EDGE OF THE ARMREST, WHEN DRIVING. I'VE HAD THE CAR TO THE DEALER; HE REPLACED THE ARMREST IN WARRANTY, BUT THE LEANING FORWARD POSITION IS JUST THE SAME---IT WAS NOT CURED. THE DEALER SAID THERE WAS NOTHING FURTHER TO BE DONE. INCIDENTALLY, THE PASSENGER'S ARMREST IS JUST FINE---IT IS POSITIONED AT THE PROPER RIGHT ANGLE. INCIDENTALLY, NOONE HAS SAT ON, OR HEAVILY LEANED ON THE ARMREST TO CAUSE THE DIFFICULTY. SURE WOULD APPRECIATE YOUR HELP WITH THIS AGGRAVATING PROBLEM. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET HHR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 45 TO 50 MPH, SHE STEERED THE VEHICVLE TO THE LEFT IN AN ATTEMPT TO AVOID CRASHING. THE CONTACT MOMENTARILY LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, VEERED TO THE RIGHT ACROSS THE ROADWAY, AND CRASHED INTO A GUARD RAIL, WHICH CAUSED THE SIDE AIR BAGS TO DEPLOY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED HOME BY THE POLICE, WHERE IT WAS AWAITING AN INSPECTION. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE UNKNOWN.

THE DEALER RESET THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, BUT THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED. THE AIR BAG LIGHT CONTINUED TO ILLUMINATE INTERMITTENTLY. THE MANUFACTURER FILED REPORT 71962548301 AND ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT ANY DEVICE CONNECTED IN THE VEHICLE WOULD CAUSE AN ELECTRICAL INTERFERENCE.
