TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET IMPALA. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE VEHICLE JERKED VIOLENTLY. IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING THE INITIAL FAILURE, FUEL SPEWED OUT OF THE FUEL PUMP. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC STATED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 162,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT ALL SPEEDS, THE CRUISE CONTROL ACTIVATED AND THE VEHICLE DECELERATED. VARIOUS WARNING LIGHTS ALSO ILLUMINATED RANDOMLY. IN ADDITION, THE GEAR SHIFTED INTO PARK, BUT THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO DRIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE MIGHT HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING INTERNAL ELECTRICAL FAILURES. THE DEALER ALSO STATED THAT THE FAILURE MIGHT BE DUE TO THE TRANSMISSION, BUT THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS INDICATING SUCH. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE DEALER OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 77,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 79,000.
I BOYGHT MY CAR FROM A USED CAR DEALERSHIP IT HAS A LITTLE OVER 133,000 MILES. I'M HAVING PROBLEMS I THINK WITH MY IGNITION SWITCH BECAUSE WHEN THE PROBLEM FIRST STARTED IT WOULD NOT CRANK NOR TURN OVER. AFTER TURNING THE SWITCH BACK AND FORWARD FOR FIVE MIN OR SO, IT WOULD START. NOW I CAN'T GET IT TO DO A THING. I NEED HELP WITH THIS ISSUE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER EXITING FROM A STOP LIGHT, THE VEHICLE LUNGED FORWARD AS THOUGH THE TRANSMISSION WAS SLIPPING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A MECHANIC WHO STATED THERE WAS A VALVE IN THE TRANSMISSION THAT FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE WHO STATED THERE WERE NO RECALLS FOR THE VEHICLE AND OFFERED NO OTHER ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 63,000.
SERVICE BATTERY CHARGING SYSTEM IS SHOWING ON DASHBOARD. BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR HAVE BEEN REPLACED AND IT STILL APPEARS ON DASHBOARD. I DONT KNOW WHAT ELSE TO DO. *TR
"REDUCED ENGINE POWER" SERVICE CODE P2138. ON 05/01/2012 WHILE DRIVING THROUGH AN INTERSECTION MY ENGINE POWER WAS REDUCED TO 3, MAYBE 5 MPH. I WAS TRYING TO GET THROUGH THAT INTERSECTION WITHOUT THE ACCELERATION THAT WAS SO DESPERATELY NEEDED. THIS IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY ISSUE. IN ADDITION TO BEING CONCERNED ABOUT GETTING INTO AN ACCIDENT, I'M FEARFUL I WILL BE THE ONE CAUSING A FATAL PILE UP. I HAVE BEEN TO THE CHEVROLET DEALER 4 TIMES AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. *JS
I HAVE BEEN HAVING AN ISSUE WITH MY STEERING COLUMN IN MY IMPALA I KNOW THERE WAS A RECALL ON SOME IMPALA'S BUT WHEN I CONTACTED A LOCAL DEALER I WAS TOLD MINE WASN'T IN RECALL . YET THERE'S A POPPING NOISE IN STEERING COLUMN AND JUST RECENTLY I STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS WITH MY HIGH BEAM LIGHTS THEY WILL SWITCH TO HIGH BEAM WHENEVER I USE MY BLINKER AND I HAVE TO PUSH IN N HOLD IN THE BLINKER SWITCH FOR A FEW MINS BEFORE THE HIGH BEAM LIGHTS WILL GO OFF ! I'VE BRIGHT LIGHTED SO MANY PPL OVER THIS PROBLEM AND I FEEL VERY GUILTY IF I CAUSED SOMEONE TO CRASH OVER BRIGHT LIGHTING THEM EVEN THOUGH IT'S OUT OF MY CONTROL REALLY . THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE DETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 59,000.
MY 2006 CHEVY IMPALA FREQUENTLY HAS "REDUCED POWER ENGINE" "SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL". WE HAVE REPLACED ACCELERATOR PEDAL SENSOR, REPLACED COMPUTER IN STEERING COLUMN, REPLACED THROTTLE BODY. GOING ON 2 YRS LIKE THIS. MY SISTER JUST RECEIVED A RECALL ON HER 2011 IMPALA ABOUT "REDUCED ENGINE POWER". I CALLED CHEVY DEALER AND MY CAR IS NOT PART OF THIS RECALL. IN WHICH IM HAVING SAME PROBLEM. *BF
THE ELECTRICAL IN THE CAR IS MESSED UP. I TURN TO THE RIGHT AND MY RADIO SHUTS OFF, ALSO IF ITS DARK OUT AND MY LIGHTS ARE ON AND I PUT THE WINDOWS DOWN THE LIGHTS DOWN AS I'M PRESSING THE BUTTON TO PUT THEM DOWN. *JS
IS OR WAS OR HAS THIS CAR HAD ANY RECALLS. FOR A 2006 VEH WITH ONLY 54,104 MILES ON IT AND HAVE TO PUT OUT THE MONEY TO PAY FOR WORK ON A CAR WITH ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS, SO FAR (INTERCONTROL MODULE) IS NOT RIGHT. THIS PROBLEM CAUSED THE WHOLE CAR TO NOT RESPOND AT ALL (IN LUCK WE WERE AT HOME WHEN THIS HAPPENED)BUT, IF WE WERE GONE IT COULD HAVE BEEN A DISASTER IF THIS WOULD HAVE HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING IT SHUTS THE WHOLE CAR DOWN, THIS IS A DISASTER WAITING TO HAPPEN. FROM TIME TO TIME I HEAR SOME BANGING NOISE LIKE SOMEONE IS IN MY TRUNK OR LIKE IT THE SIDE. I'M NOT SURE WHAT IT . ALSO MY POWER STEERING MAKE NOISE ALL THE TIME. WINDSHIELD WIPERS STOPPED WORKING WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY IN RAIN. 2ND FAILURE IN 19 MONTHS. WIPER TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY REPLACED BOTH TIMES. *TR
INTERMITTENTLY USUALLY FROM A STOP CAR ACTS LIKE ITS IN NEUTRAL REVS UP AND ALL OF A SUDDEN BANGS INTO GEAR AND TAKES OFF. VERY DANGEROUS WHEN IN TRAFFIC AND IT UNEXPECTEDLY DOES IT WHEN YOUR TRYING TO INCH FORWARD. ALMOST CAUSES A REAR END COLLISION BECAUSE ITS INTERMITTENT. I AM AFRAID I WON'T CATCH IT IN TIME. THE REPLACEMENT SENSOR WHICH IS SUPPOSED TO CORRECT MY PROBLEM, THE MESSAGE SERVICE AIRBAG COMES UP ON THE DASH BENEATH THE STEERING WHEEL AND THE PASSENGER AIRBAG LIGHT INDICATES THE AIR BAG IS OFF EVEN WITH THE PASSENGER SITTING IN THE SEAT, WILL COST ME $992.50 TO FIX, JUST FOR A CENSOR THIS SEEMS MORE LIKE A COMPUTER, NOT AN ITTY BITTY SENSOR. SOUNDS LIKE AN ENGINEERING DESIGN OVER-KILL, $992.50 REALLY, THIS IS UNREAL FOR A SENSOR!!!! SOMETHING IS WRONG HERE. IT ONLY TAKES 8/10THS OF AN HOUR TO FIX IT. I WAS DRIVING MY COMPANY ASSIGNED CAR DOWN A STEEP HILL WHEN THE ENGINE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THIS HAS HAPPENED 5 OTHER TIMES WITH THIS VEHICLE. THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME I WAS TRAVELING FAST THOUGH. IT'S LIKE THE ENGINE JUST TURNS OFF. THE LIGHTS ARE STILL ON BUT I LOSE THE POWER STEERING AND BRAKES. IT WAS TERRIFYING AND EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. THIS PROBLEM HAPPENS COMPLETELY RANDOMLY WITH NO WARNING. IT HAS HAPPENED TO OTHERS IN MY COMPANY WITH THEIR IMPALAS. I LOOKED ONLINE AND FOUND NUMEROUS OTHER INSTANCES OF CHEVY IMPALAS OF VARIOUS MODEL YEARS DOING THE SAME THING. IT IS CURRENTLY IN THE REPAIR SHOP AND THE MECHANIC CAN'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. I TOLD THEM ITS RANDOM AND OCCURS ABOUT EVERY 4 MONTHS OR SO. I AM AFRAID I WILL HAVE TO GET BACK IN THIS DEATH TRAP DUE TO MY EMPLOYER MAKING ME. TRANSMISSION SLIPPING, HARD SHIFTS, BROKEN MOTOR MOUNTS. TRANSMISSION ACTS LIKE IT'S NOT IN GEAR, DOESN'T ENGAGE UNTIL ABOUT 2,000 RPM THEN SLAMS INTO GEAR. ALSO SLIPS WHEN SHIFTING FROM 1ST TO 2ND AND AGAIN WHEN IN 4TH GEAR. *TR TRANSMISSION FAILURE, THE TRANSMISSION FAILS TO FULLY ENGAGE IN TO ANY GEAR WHEN IT IS SUPPOSED TO, IT WILL SLIP AND CATCH FROM A STOP, THE TORQUE CONVERTER FAILS TO LOCK UP AND ALL GEARS SLIP UNDER MODERATE TO HEAVY ACCELERATION.
REAR PASSENGER DOOR WILL NOT OPEN FROM INSIDE OR OUTSIDE. TRIED UNLOCKING AND LOCKING SEVERAL TIMES. SON WAS STUCK IN CAR SEAT UNTIL I COULD GET HIM OUT FROM THE OTHER SIDE. NOT SURE WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED IF THERE WAS A CRASH AND I COULD NOT GET HIM OUT. HAVE SEEN LOTS OF OTHERS WITH SIMILAR PROBLEMS ON THE INTERNET. SEEMS LIKE THIS SHOUDL BE ADDRESSED OR SOMEONE WILL END UP GETTING KILLED BECASUE THEY COULD NOT GET OUT. *TR
I PURCHASED A 2006 IMPALA SS, JUST RECENTLY AFTER REACHING 60,000 MILES MY TRANSMISSION STARTED SLIPPING IN 4TH GEAR AND OVERDRIVE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. A SHORT 300 MILES LATER THE TRANSMISSION FAILED COMPLETELY WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM WORK ON THE INTERSTATE. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO A LOCAL TRANSMISSION SHOP WHERE I WAS TOLD IT EITHER NEEDED TO BE REBUILT OR REPLACED. I HAD IT REBUILT FOR $2442 ALL OUT OF MY OWN POCKET BECAUSE MY POWERTRAIN WARRANTY HAD ALREADY EXPIRED. NOW A MERE 3 MONTHS LATER AND NOW CURRENTLY AT 69,200 MILES THE NEW TRANSMISSION IS SHOWING THE SAME EXACT SYMPTOMS IT HAD WHEN IT FAILED THE FIRST TIME. AGAIN WITH NO WARRANTY AND REPAIR COSTS OVER 2000 DOLLARS I WILL SOON BE FORCED TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION AGAIN. NOT TO MENTION RENTAL CAR COSTS AND THE INCONVENIENCE OF HAVING THIS HAPPEN TWICE WITHIN A YEAR AND 10,000 MILES APART. OTHER RECENT ISSUES INCLUDE A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON FOR A CYLINDER 6 MISFIRE DUE TO AN OIL FOULED SPARK PLUG AND BURNING OR USING A FULL QUART OF OIL EVERY 1000 MILES I'M SURE MAJOR ENGINE REPAIRS ARE SOON TO COME. IT ALMOST MAKES ME SICK TO MY STOMACH KNOWING I STILL HAVE 4 MORE YEARS TO PAY ON THIS VEHICLE AND ALL OF THESE PROBLEMS UNDER 70,000 MILES MAJORITY OF WHICH ARE HIGHWAY DRIVEN. NEEDLESS TO SAY THIS WILL BE THE LAST GM VEHICLE I EVER OWN. *JS

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HESITATED TO ACCELERATE AND DECELERATED WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY. THE DEALER REPLACED THE FUEL INJECTOR, THROTTLE BODY AND REPROGRAMMED THE COMPUTER, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED A SECOND TIME. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 98,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 106,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
WHEN I START FROM A STOP THE TRANSMISSION DOES NOT FULLY ENGAGE FOR A FEW SECONDS. IF I STEP ON THE GAS, IT ROLLS SLOWLY FORWARD, BUT ONCE IT CATCHES IT JERKS FORWARD REALLY HARD. I'VE KNOW 2 OTHERS WITH THIS SAME ISSUE, AND THE TRANSMISSION SHOP SAYS IT'S PRETTY COMMON WITH THESE. CHEAP PART TO REPLACE (CLUTCH GASKET OR SOMETHING), BUT $1700 IN LABOR. ON TUESDAY MORNING ON THE FREEWAY I NOTICED THE RPMS IN MY 2006 IMPALA SS JUMPING, I PUSHED ON THE GAS PEDAL TO ACCELERATE AND MY TRANSMISSION WAS SLIPPING IN OVERDRIVE. IS MY TRANSMISSION GOING OUT ALREADY? THE CAR HAS 63000 MILES ON IT. *TR
MY CAR IS GIVING A REDUCED ENGINE LIGHT, TRACTION CONTROL AND NOW STARTING DISABLED. THE CAR WILL NOT START OR DIES IN PROCESS OF DRIVING CAR. THIS IS DANGEROUS AND I HAVE REA THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME. *TR
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING HOME FROM THE GROCERY STORE ON JAN 1ST, WITH MY DAUGHTER IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. THEY BEGAN TO SMELL SOMETHING BURNING, SO MY WIFE PULLED OVER, WHEN MY DAUGHTER GOT OUT OF THE CAR SHE SAW FLAMES SHOOTING OUT FROM UNDER THE GLOVE COMPARTMENTED GOOD SAMARITAN CAME RUNNING OVER WITH A FIRE EXTINGUISHER TO ATTEMPT TO PUT FIRE OUT, MY DAUGHTER CALLED 911, AND THE CRANFORD FIRE DEPT. SHOWED UP WITHIN MINUTES TO PUT OUT THE FIRE. IN THE FIRE DEPT. REPORT THEY SAID THE FIRE WAS CAUSED BY AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM FROM THE FUSE BOX. THE CAR WAS RULED A TOTAL LOSS, THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG DEPLOYED AND THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED, LUCKILY NOBODY WAS SERIOUSLY HURT, BUT GM IS CLAIMING THEY HAVE NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS FIRE. BOTH MY WIFE AND I DISAGREE, THE CAR WAS WELL TAKEN CARE OF ONLY AT A GM DEALER, AND HAD NO AFTER MARKET ACCESSORIES INSTALLED.WE HAVE SEVERAL PHOTOS TAKEN BY INSURANCE COMPANY AND THE FIRE DEPT. BOUGHT 2006 IMPALA LT USED IN JUNE 2009 WITH 41,000 MILES REPLACED THE FACTORY TIRES DIDN'T LIKE THE WAY THEY RODE. STARTED HEARING A GRINDING NOISE THAT GOT LOUDER WITH ACCELERATION MECHANIC SAID ALL FOUR TIRES WERE BAD WEARING ON THE INSIDE. THE TIRES ONLY HAVE 21,000 MILES ON THEM AND MOST OF MY TIRES LAST ME 40,000 MINIMUM. DID SOME ONLINE RESEARCH FOUND NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT PREMATURE WEAR FOR TIRES ON CHEVY IMPALAS. LOOKING AT ANOTHER $500 + FOR BRAND NEW TIRES IF THE PLACE I BOUGHT THEM DOESN'T UPHOLD THE WARRANTY WHICH IS FOR 50,000 MILES/5 YEARS. I REALLY LIKE THIS CAR BUT THERE A NUMEROUS PROBLEMS MAJOR AND MINOR GM NEEDS TO FOCUS MORE ON QUALITY. *KB

THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT BEGAN TO ILLUMINATE AFTER THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS A FAILURE WITHIN THE TRANSMISSION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND THE CONTACT WAS AWAITING A RESPONSE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 109,000.
IN DEC 2011/TRANSMISSION FAILED AT 88900 MILES ON MY IMPALA THAT I PURCHASED BRAND NEW, CAR WAS OUT OF WARRANTY, I PAID HALF AND GM PAID HALF , TO REBUILD TRANSMISSION- SO I THOUGHT, NOV 2013- 25000 MILES LATER, TRANS STARTED TO FAIL AGAIN, I CALLED GM, OPENED ANOTHER CASE, NO RESULTS OR RESPONSE, ONCE AGAIN, DEC 2014, I CONTACTED GM AGAIN, TRANSMISSION GONE IN CAR APPROX. 30,000 MILES LATER, FROM WHEN THEY INITIALLY REBUILT THE TRANS, AND THE DEALER NOW WANTS 2200 TO PUT A TRANS IN THE CAR, I PAID ALMOST 2000 BEFORE IN DEC.2011/JAN2012 FOR THAT TRANS TO BE REBUILT, HERE IT IS 30000 MILE LATER AND THE TRANS IS GOING...THEY SHOULD HAVE RE-CALLED THE TRANSMISSIONS IN THAT CAR, BECAUSE EVERYONE HAS SAME HORROR STORY ABOUT THE 2006/2007/2008'S TRANSMISSIONS/ I HAVE 3 SEPARATE CASE #'S WITH GM, REGARDING THAT TRANS ON MY CAR. I ALSO OWN A 2013 MALIBU, SO THE 2006 IMPALA HAD NOT BEEN DRIVEN ENOUGH FOR THE TRANS TO BE GONE ON IT AGAIN. *TR

THE FILTER AND FLUID CHANGED AT RECOMMENDED INTERVALS. I HAVE MONITORED SIMILIAR COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER IMPALA OWNERS. THE TRANSMISSION THAT CHEVROLET DEVELOPED FOR THE IMPALA LS-LT-SS. DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE A QUALITY PART. AND IF CHEVROLET DOES NOT DO A BETTER JOB OR ATTEMPT TO MAKE THIS SITUATION BETTER, I TO WILL MOVE ON TO A FOREIGN MANUFACTURER. DEALER REPLACED VALVE COVERS TO REPAIR WHAT WERE BELIEVED TO BE FAULTY PCV VALVES INTEGRATED INTO VALVE COVERS. OIL CONSUMPTION CONTINUES. DEALER NOW WANTS TO CLEAN UPPER PART OF ENGINE TO OPEN OIL FLOW PORTS, STILL INDICATING OIL IS ACCUMULATING UNDER VALVE COVERS AND BEING PULLED BACK INTO ENGINE THRU PCV VALVE. DEALER HAS NEVER PERFORMED COMPRESSION TEST TO DETERMINE IF PROBLEM IS REALLY RELATED TO COMBUSTION CHAMBER PROBLEMS, SUCH AS BAD PISTON RINGS. DEALER HAS REPORTED THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM ON SILVERADO PICKUP TRUCKS WITH THE SAME 5.3L V8 ENGINE BLOCK. CAR NOW HAS 51000 MILES AND PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN SOLVED.
