REDUCED ENGINE POWER/ TRACTION CONTROL WARNING/ GAS LINE FUEL LEAK. THIS CAR FLASHED A REDUCED ENGINE POWER MESSAGE WHILE I WAS GOING 65 MPH STRAIGHT AWAY ON BUSY CITY (IN HOUSTON) FREEWAY AND THE TRACTION CONTROL WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. MY CAR THEN IMMEDIATELY REDUCED SPEED AND WOULD NOT GO BEYOND 40 MPH. I WAS TOLD THAT THE GAS LINE FUEL LEAK HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH IT BUT IT SEEMS VERY COINCIDENTAL THAT THIS ALL HAPPENED IN THE SAME DAY. GM IS PUTTING OUT A LOT OF TRASHY VEHICLES RIGHT NOW AND THIS SHOULD DEFINITELY BE A RECALL; ESPECIALLY WHEN THERE ARE NUMEROUS VALID COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME ISSUE. I'LL NEVER BY GM/CHEVY AGAIN. I AM GOING BACK TO AN IMPORTED BRAND
MY SON WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE LIGHT "REDUCED POWER TO ENGINE" GOES ON AND THE CAR STALLS. AFTER HALF HOUR IT STARTED BUT DROVE SLOWLY SO HE WAS ABLE TO GET OF THE HIGHWAY AND WE HAD IT TOWED WHERE SOME WORK WAS DONE SUCH AS SOME SENSORS. IT WORKED FINE FOR A COUPLE OF WEEKS AND LAST NIGHT IT DID THE SAME THING. HE IS IN COLLEGE SO HE TOOK IT TO LOCAL SHOP AND THEY CAN'T RECREATE IT AND DON'T KNOW WHAT IS WRONG. THEY WILL TRY SOME MORE SENSORS BUT THIS IS A HIT OR MISS WHICH IS COSTING REAL MONEY. NOW WE DON'T KNOW WHEN HE WILL BE STRANDED OR IF IT WILL EVER BE FIXED. NOT VERY REASSURING.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN HWY 85 AROUND 5;30AM AND JUST PASSING EXIT 20/NEW HOPE WHEN I HIT A HUGE POT HOLE IN THE ROAD ON THE FAR RIGHT LANE. AFTER HEARING A LOUD NOISE I PULLED OVER AND SAW THAT MY RIM WAS CRACKED OPEN ON THE FRONT RIGHT SIDE AND SLIGHTLY SLIT ON THE REAR RIGHT TIRE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET IMPALA. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE MADE AN ABNORMAL KNOCKING NOISE IN THE STEERING COLUMN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CONTROL ARMS, INNER AND OUTER TIE RODS, SWAY BAR LINKS, BALL JOINTS, FRONT SHOCKS, AND AXLE WERE REPLACED ON THE VEHICLE; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 09E005000 (STEERING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 82,000.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 60 MPH, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED BUT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE AS THE REDUCED ENGINE POWER ERROR MESSAGE DISPLAYED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000.
FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE I CHECK MANY TIMES THE MECHANIC ALWAYS SAID THERE IS A LEAK FUEL SYSTEM AND THE ENGINE LIGHT IS ON
REDUCED ENGINE POWER MESSAGE CAME, CAR STOPPED SUDDENLY IN THE STREET.
TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM SENSOR/LIGHT STAYS ON. WON'T RESET. HAD TO TAKE TO DEALER. THIS IS A KNOWN COMMON PROBLEM WITH CHEVY/GM VEHICLES. TIRE PRESSURE WAS GOOD, ALL TIRES WERE GOOD (SET TO MANUFACTURER'S SPECS.)

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 200,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET IMPALA. WHILE DRIVING AT 60 MPH, THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AFTER BEING CUT OFF BY A MOTORCYCLIST. THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO A CEMENT BARRIER. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM FAILED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT AND PASSENGER RECEIVED INJURIES TO THE UPPER AND LOWER BACK AND NECK, WHICH REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 160,000.
WHILE STARTING MY CAR THE VEHICLE BEGAN SHAKING AND THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THERE WAS ALSO A MESSAGE STATING ENGINE REDUCED POWER. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME I HAD THIS HAPPEN. PREVIOUSLY I HAD THIS OCCUR AND I TOOK MY CAR TO GET SERVICED. THE MECHANIC AT THE REPAIR SHOP TESTED FOR CODES AND IT STATED THE THROTTLE BODY. I HAD THAT REPLACED ON TO TURN AROUND AND HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM TWO DAYS LATER. I RECENTLY SEARCHED THIS ISSUE ONLINE AND NOTICED I'M NOT THE ONLY PERSON WITH THIS ISSUE. I CALLED GM AND THE REPRESENTATIVE INFORMED ME THAT UNFORTUNATELY THERE WASN'T A RECALL ON THIS ISSUE. THIS IS VERY UNSAFE AND I'M AFRAID TO DRIVE THIS CAR. I TRAVEL A LOT ON THE FREEWAY AND I WOULD HATE FOR THE CAR TO STOP WHILE DRIVING WITH MYSELF AND CHILDREN INSIDE. THIS VEHICLE COMPLAINT REALLY NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED.

WHILE DRIVING, MY CAR GIVES A MESSAGE OF "REDUCED ENGINE POWER" AND COMPLETELY SHUTS OFF...REGARDLESS OF WHAT SPEED I AM DRIVING. THIS HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES IN THE PAST 2 DAYS. VERY UNSAFE! I HAVE READ ONLINE OF HUNDREDS OF THIS SAME TYPE VEHICLE HAVING THIS PROBLEM. WHY ISN'T THIS A RECALL ISSUE? I BELIEVE ANOTHER CAR MANUFACTURER HAD A SIMILAR ISSUE WITH ONE OF THEIR ACCELERATOR PARTS AND THAT COMPANY RECALLED AND REPLACED THESE PARTS FOR NO CHARGE TO THE OWNER. I BELIEVE CHEVROLET NEEDS TO DO THE SAME THING.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET IMPALA. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE INDEPENDENTLY JERKED TO THE LEFT AND RIGHT WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND STRUCK A CURB. THE VEHICLE ROLLED OVER THREE TIMES AND LANDED UPRIGHT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. MINOR INJURIES WERE SUSTAINED, BUT DID NOT REQUIRE MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED FROM THE SCENE. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V355000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM); HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 125,000.
I WAS DRIVING AT 20 MPH SLOWING TO TURN INTO MY PARKING LOT AT WORK AND SUDDENLY THE CAR JOLTED AND THE POWER DECREASED TO MAYBE HALF. THE CAR NEVER COMPLETELY SHUT OFF. I WAS ABLE TO COAST INTO A PARKING SPOT AT WORK WHEN I TRIED TO ACCELERATE THERE WAS NO POWER LEFT AT ALL. ALL I COULD DO WAS COAST, THE CAR STILL NEVER COMPLETELY SHUT OFF. THIS WAS EXTREMELY SCAREY, I JUST THANK GOD MY 5 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WAS NOT WITH ME AT THE TIME!!

THIS ALL STARTED WHEN THE FACTORY BATTERY WENT DEAD SO I WENT AND PURCHASED A NEW ONE ABOUT A WEEK AFTER I WENT OUT ONE MORNING TO LEAVE FOR WORK AND IT WOULDN'T START HAD TO BE JUMPED. SO LATER ON I CHECKED FOR A DRAIN ON THE BATTERY AND FOUND OUT THAT THE RADIO THE INTERIOR LIGHTS AND THE DISPLAY WHERE CAUSING A DRAIN. SO I HAD ALL THREE CHECKED ALL TESTS FINE SO I PURCHASED ANOTHER BATTERY AND WAS GOOD FOR ABOUT A WEEK THEN ALL THE SUDDEN THE RADIO DIED AND ALL THE AUDITABLE SOUNDS STOP WORKING THE NEXT DAY WENT OUT TO TRY TO START THE CAR AND NOTHING HAPPENED ONLY HAD HEADLIGHTS AND INTERIOR LIGHTS WOULDN'T START. SO I PUT IT ON A CHARGER FOR A COUPLE HOURS TRIED IT AGAIN AND IT WAS COMPLETELY DEAD LIKE THERE WAS NO BATTERY IN . COME TO FIND OUT THAT THE BCM ( BODY CONTROL MODULE ) WAS SHORTED. NOW I'VE GOT TO FIND A NEW AND FIGURE OUT HOW TO GET IT UP TO DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT PROGRAMMED

THE DRIVERS SIDE SEATBELT FAILS TO LATCH. ON THE MORNING OF 5/22/2015 I WAS ABLE TO GET THE SEATBELT TO FINALLY LATCH. WHEN I WENT TO LUNCH I COULD NOT GET THE SEATBELT TO LATCH NO MATTER WHAT I TRIED. THE RED BUTTON MOVES UP AND DOWN FREELY JUST LIKE THE OTHER SEATBELT LATCHES IN THE VEHICLE. WHILE DRIVING THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT COMES ON AS WELL AT REDUCED ENGINE POWER. IT DROPS THE SPEED OF THE CAR DOWN TO 40 MPH OR LOWER. IT DOES NOT ACCELERATE EASILY WHEN COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP. THIS CAN CAUSE AN ACCIDENT AS I HAVE HAD SEVERAL NEAR MISSES. THE LIGHT WILL GO OFF IF YOU TURN THE VEHICLE OFF FOR A FEW HOURS BUT DOES END UP COMING BACK ON. *TR
AT ABOUT 10 MPH UPON ACCELERATING THERE IS A GROWLING NOISE AND THE ABS/TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT COMES ON. THIS LASTS FOR ONLY A FEW SECONDS, BUT THE CAR FEELS LIKE IT MAY NOT KEEP GOING. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS NO FAILURE WITH THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING UNTIL THE CONTACT RECEIVED A MANUFACTURER RECALL FOR THE POWER STEERING. WHILE TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL VEERED TO THE LEFT WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT HAD TO APPLY EXTREME FORCE TO THE VEHICLE TO GET THE STEERING WHEEL TO TURN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE AUTHORIZED DEALER. A MECHANIC TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE AND INDICATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS RECURRING EVEN THOUGH THE DEALER REPLACED THE PART FOR THE RECALL. THE DEALER DID NOT INDICATE IF THE COMPONENT WAS DEFECTIVE. IT FAILED A SECOND TIME, WHICH INDICATED THAT THE POWER STEERING SENSOR LOST CONTROL TO THE BODY CONTROL MODULE CAUSING A FAILURE. THE DEALER INDICATED THAT AFTER REPLACING THE POWER STEERING ANGLE SENSOR MORE THAN TWICE, THE BODY CONTROL MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER FOR FURTHER INSPECTION AND DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 49,900. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE NO ENGINE OIL WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT CHECKED THE OIL LEVEL AND THERE WAS NO OIL IN THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER OR DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 83,000.
AT ABOUT 35 MPH AFTER DRIVING THE CAR AT 70MPH FOR HALF AN HOUR, THE PASSENGER SIDE FUSE BOX BURST INTO FLAMES. *TR
THE REAR WINDOW DEFOGGER FAILED TO OPERATE AND A BURNING SMELL WAS DETECTED BY PASSENGERS. IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT AN ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR THAT ROUTES THE POWER TO THE REAR WINDOW DEFOGGER HAS A DEFECTIVE DESIGN AND OVERHEATS AND BURNS DUE TO IMPROPERLY SIZED CONNECTOR PINS IN WIRING HARNESS CONNECTOR LOCATED NEAR THE PASSENGER KICK PANEL. THE PROBLEM IS ALSO DOCUMENTED IN A NUMBER OF SITES ON THE INTERNET INCLUDING YOUTUBE WHERE A VIDEO OF THE EXACT FAILURE WAS FOUND TO BE THE IDENTICAL FAILURE AS IN OUR IMPALA. JUDGING BY THE DESIGN PROBLEM, THIS SAME PROBLEM WOULD BE FOUND IN EVERY IMPALA USING THIS CONNECTOR SINCE THE ELECTRICAL CONTACTS ARE NOT SIZED PROPERLY TO CARRY THE HIGH CURRENT TO THE DEFOGGER. THIS IS A DEFINITE FIRE HAZARD AND THE CARS SHOULD BE RECALLED FOR THE FAILURE - I CONTACTED CHEVROLET AND THEY WOULD NOT ACKNOWLEDGE THE DEFECT/PROBLEM. *TR

TURNED ON REAR WINDOW DEFROSTER, SMELT BURNING PLASTIC NEAR PASSENGER SIDE DOOR, FOUND WIRE HARNESS ON PASSENGER SIDE KICK PANEL MELTED AT THE REAR WINDOW DEFROSTER CONNECTION DUE TO HIGH HEAT IN THE CONNECTOR AND IT HAD SCORCHED THE UNDERSIDE OF THE INTERIOR CARPET. BURNT BOTH MALE AND FEMALE ENDS OF CONNECTOR SO IT NO LONGER WORKS. CONTACTED CHEVROLET AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS A COMMON PROBLEM THAT THEY HAD SEEN BUT THERE WAS NO RECALL OR ADVISORY ON IT. *JS

ON SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 15, 2014, I TOOK MY 2007 CHEVROLET IMPALA LS TO HAILEY'S CHEVROLET FOR THE "ELECTRICAL IGNITION / KEY RECALL." AFTER MY KEYS WERE FIXED AND THE TWO 6MM RINGS WERE ATTACHED TO THEM, I WAS DRIVING 25 MPH DOWN THE HIGHWAY, SLOWED DOWN FOR ANOTHER VEHICLE THAT WAS TURNING; THEN THE SERVICE AIRBAG AND SERVICE TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM LIGHTS ILLUMINATED, FLICKERED THREE TIMES, AND HAVE REMAINED ON SINCE THEN. I DIDN'T HAVE ANY PROBLEMS WITH MY VEHICLE; UNTIL THE RECALL REPAIRS LISTED ABOVE WERE PERFORMED. I AM SCARED TO DRIVE MY CAR EVEN SHORT DISTANCES NOW BECAUSE OF ALL THE NEWS HEADLINES ABOUT, "AIRBAGS EXPLODING" AND FEAR OF, WHAT MIGHT HAPPEN WITH MY TIRES. GM HAS ISSUED A LETTER TO THOSE EFFECTED IN GM RECALL 14299 SAYING THAT PARTS ARE NOW AVAILABLE. CALL YOUR DEALERSHIP TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT ASAP. I CALLED AND WAS TOLD PARTS HAD TO BE ORDERED AND WOULD BE BETWEEN 30-60 DAYS AT WHICH POINT AN APPOINTMENT COULD/WOULD BE MADE. WHY IS IT TO TAKE SO LONG TO GET THE PART DELIVERED TO A DEALERSHIP IF THE PARTS ARE "AVAILABLE"? CONSIDER THAT IN THE RECENT TOYOTA AIRBAG RECALL, WE HEAR ON THE NEWS THIS PAST WEEK THAT PARTS CAN BE AVAILABLE IN 3 DAYS. WHY IS THERE SUCH A LARGE DISCREPANCY BETWEEN THE 2 MANUFACTURES? WHEN I SPOKE WITH THE DEALERSHIP, I ADVISED THEM THAT I WAS LEAVING THE AREA IN 30-45 DAYS AND IF THE REPLACEMENT WAS NOT COMPLETED BY THE TIME I LEAVE, I WOULD NOT BE BACK UNTIL APRIL. THAT'S ANOTHER 6 MONTHS ON THE ROAD WITH THIS DEFECT. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY A 30 DAY DELAY TO GET PARTS TO THE DEALER, PARTICULARLY WHEN THEY SAID FOR THIS VEHICLE IT WAS ONLY AN IGNITION KEY ADJUSTMENT THAT WAS NEEDED, NOT A SWITCH REPLACEMENT.
