TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET IMPALA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH TO EXIT THE HIGHWAY, THE INSTRUMENT PANEL SENSORS ILLUMINATED INTERMITTENTLY AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT MERGED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND WAS UNABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE AND WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE TECHNICIAN REPLACED THE MOTOR, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V355000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM); HOWEVER, THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO PROVIDE A SPECIFIC DATE FOR WHEN THE PART WOULD BECOME AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 68,000.
THE POWER WINDOW KEEPS BREAKING. WE TAKE IT TO GET FIXED AND A MONTH OR TWO LATER IT BREAKS. THE LAST TIME IT WENT OUT MY WINDOW SHATTERED. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING WITHOUT A DRIVER SIDE WINDOW AND A PASSENGER WINDOW BEING HELD UP WITH PENCILS. I CAN'T AFFORD TO KEEP PAYING FOR THESE WINDOWS TO BE FIXED EVERY MONTH. *TR
WIFE WAS DRIVING HOME AND THE ENGINE POWER WAS REDUCED AND SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL CAME UP ON THE DASH DISPLAY. POWER WAS CUT, LEFT HER DRIVING AT AROUND 40MPH I DROVE IT TODAY, JULY 1,2014, IT DID FINE FOR ABOUT THE FIRST MILE THEN SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL, REDUCED ENGINE POWER DISPLAY CAME ON AGAIN. I DROVE IT 4 TIMES TODAY, SEEMS THAT IF THE CAR SIT FOR A FEW HOURS, IT RAN FINE, FULL POWER, NO ISSUES FOR ABOUT THE FIRST MILE TO MILE AND A HALF THEN IT WOULD COME UP WITH THE SERVICE TCS AND REDUCED ENGINE POWER WHICH LEAVES YOU AT VERY REDUCED SPEEDS. LUCKILY I LIVE IN THE COUNTRY SO TRAFFIC WASN'T A HUGE ISSUE. I RESEARCHED ONLINE AND THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON OCCURANCE WITH MANY YR MODEL IMPALAS SO I WANTED TO REPORT MINE SO IT WOULD BE ON RECORD AS WELL. 2007 IMPALA LT2 WITH 3.9L ENGINE. THANKS. *TR

THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT IT WAS DIFFICULT TO STOP THE VEHICLE DUE TO FAULTY BACK BRAKES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 99,325.
THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON, THE SCOPE SAYS VAPOR LEAK, I WAS TOLD TO REPLACE THE GAS CAP, SO I DID AND HAD THE ENGINE LIGHT TURNED OFF. IT CAME BACK ON ABOUT 2 WEEKS LATER, SO I WENT AND BOUGHT ANOTHER GAS CAP AND STILL THE ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. WITH THE ENGINE LIGHT ON MY START ENGINE BUTTON WONT TURN THE ENGINE ON FOR ME. IS THERE ANY RECALL FOR SOMETHING LIKE THIS?
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2007 CHEVROLET IMPALA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH ON AN OVERPASS, A TRUCK SWIPED THE SIDE OF THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE STALLED AND THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL. THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO A GUARDRAIL AND ROLLED OVER FIVE TIMES. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE LEFT SHOULDER, BRUISED RIBS, HEAD TRAUMA AND NUMBNESS IN THE LOWER BACK. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT SUSTAINED TORN LIGAMENTS IN THE NECK, LEFT SHOULDER, AND THE LEFT ARM THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. WHILE DRIVING CAR STARTED TO JERK AND HESITATE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON ALONG WITH A MESSAGE OF REDUCED ENGINE POWER. COULD NOT DRIVE THE DRIVE OVER 5 MPH. WAS ABLE TO GET TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. HAD TO PUSH THE CAR INTO A PARKING LOT AS THE ENGINE WILL NO LONGER START BUT CRANKS OVER FINE. HAD TO BUY A SCANNER TO READ THE CODE BECAUSE THE CAR WAS NOT ABLE TO DRIVE TO A AUTO REPAIR SHOP OR AUTO PARTS STORE TO READ THE CODES. THE PO641 CODE WAS SET. CHECKED AND TESTED THE SENSOR WIRES FOR THE 5VOLTS EVERY ONE THAT I TESTED SHOWED OK. REPLACED THE GAS PEDAL ASSEMBLE BECAUSE OF THE CODE THAT COULD BE A SOURCE OF THE PROBLEM NO DIFFERENCE. CLEANED THE THROTTLE BODY UNIT NO CHANGE CAR WILL NOT START.CHECKED AND GAVE ALL THE WIRES A GOOD PULL AND OR TUG TO WIGGLE THE CONNECTORS AND TOOK APART ALL SENSOR CONNECTIONS NO CORROSION WAS FOUND.ALL GROUNDS APPEAR TO BE GOOD. NO BROKEN WIRES ARE FOUND NO BLOWN FUSES WERE FOUND.AFTER 2 DAYS WAS ABLE TO START ENGINE WITH THE MESSAGE REDUCED ENGINE POWER AND CAR DIED AGAIN AND WOULD RESTART BUT NOT IDLE. WAS ABLE TO REV ENGINE AND KEEP IT RUNNING BUT ONCE IT IDLED IT WOULD DIE AND SOMETIMES NOT RESTART AGAIN.AT THIS TIME CAR IS UNSAFE TO OPERATE ON ANY ROADWAY BECAUSE IT MIGHT DIE AND RANDOM TIMES. *JS

THE AIR BAG IN THE STEERING WHEEL WAS THE ONLY AIR BAG THAT DEPLOYED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED A BROKEN NECK, RIBS, BACK, FOOT, AND ANKLE. THE PASSENGER SUSTAINED A BROKEN COLLAR BONE, RIBS, AND ANKLE. IN ADDITION, THE PASSENGER'S LIVER AND SPLEEN WERE LACERATED AND BOTH OCCUPANTS REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 73,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE IGNITION SWITCH INDEPENDENTLY MOVED FROM ON TO ACC MODE. IN ADDITION, THE IGNITION KEY FRACTURED IN HALF AND THE REMAINING PART OF THE KEY REMAINED IN THE IGNITION. THE CONTACT WOULD HAVE TO UNHOOK THE TERMINAL BATTERY IN ORDER TO SHUT OFF THE VEHICLE. IN 2014 I BOUGHT THIS CHEVY IMPALA FROM A LOCAL DEALER. OVER TIME A STRONG ODOR SKUNK LIKE SMELL RADIATES FROM THE VEHICLES INTERIOR. AFTER TRYING DIFFERENT THINGS TO SOLVE THIS PROBLEM IT STILL WOULDN'T GO AWAY. I RECENTLY DID SOME ONLINE INVESTIGATION AND FOUND OUT GM ISSUED A TSB #08-08-110-019 FOR THIS PROBLEM, BUT THEY WILL NOT FIX BECAUSE CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY. THIS IS A REALLY STRONG ODOR AFRAID SOMEBODY IS GOING TO GET SICK. WHAT CAN BE DONE ABOUT THIS TO GET IT FIXED, I THINK GM SHOULD BE TOTALLY RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS PROBLEM.
MY CAR HAS BEEN HAVING NUMEROUS ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. I HAVE CHANGED MY HEADLIGHTS AND TAIL LIGHTS ECT PROBABLY TWICE SINCE I'VE HAD IT, BOUGHT NOVEMBER 2013. MY TRANSMISSION SHIFTS REALLY HARD IT HAD JUST STARTED THIS. I AM SCARED SOMETHING IS GOING TO HAPPEN WHILE ME AND MY 2 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER ARE ON THE ROAD. *TR

THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO TURN ON THE HAZARD LIGHTS AND ATTEMPTED TO MAKE A LEFT TURN. THE VEHICLE LOST ALL POWER STEERING AND COASTED ONTO THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND RESUMED NORMAL OPERATIONS. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON THREE OCCASIONS. THERE WERE NO DIAGNOSTIC TEST PERFORMED NOR WAS THE VEHICLE REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 95,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 115,000.
I WAS DRIVING TO WORK AND A MESSAGE POPPED-UP "REDUCED ENGINE POWER" MY SPEED WAS QUICKLY REDUCED FROM 45 MPH TO 20 MPH. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER LUCKILY I WAS NOT HIT BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT REMAINS ON IN THE VEHICLE. I HAD THE VEHICLE DIAGNOSED AND WAS TOLD THE THROTTLE SENSOR NEED TO BE REPLACED. THIS IS A DANGEROUS ISSUE THAT GM NEED TO ADDRESS. NUMEROUS OF IMPALA OWNERS HAVE FILED COMPLAINTS, BUT HAVE BEEN IGNORED. I FEEL AS THOUGH GM SHOULD RECALL THE VEHICLES AND FIX THE DEFECTS... THIS IS PUTTING ME, MY CHILDREN, AND MANY OTHERS AT RISK. MY STEERING WHEEL BECAME VERY HARD TO TURN AND I NOTICED I HAD PUDDLES OF SOMETHING UNDER MY CAR WHERE EVER I PARKED. I WAS PUTTING FLUID IN TWICE A DAY JUST SO I WOULD BE ABLE TO TURN MY STEERING WHEEL TO GET BACK AND FORTH TO WORK. I FINALLY HAD THE MONEY TO TAKE IT TO A MECHANIC AND HE SAID THAT I HAD A WHOLE IN MY POWER STEERING LINE OR COOLER. PROBABLY BOTH BUT HE SAID IT WAS SPRAYING EVERY WHERE. I HAVEN'T EVEN HAD THIS CAR FOR A YEAR YET AND I BOUGHT IT FROM A REPUTABLE DEALER. EVEN THOUGH IT WAS USED THEY LOOKED IT OVER VERY WELL FOR ME BECAUSE MY MOM KNOWS THE OWNER. I CAN'T AFFORD TO HAVE THIS FIXED NOR CAN I AFFORD TO KEEP PUTTING POWER STEERING FLUID IN DAILY. THIS IS A BIG PROBLEM AND I KNOW IF NOT TAKEN CARE OF SOON IT WILL TURN INTO BIGGER PROBLEMS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE ASCENDING AN INCLINE AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOST ACCELERATION POWER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE AND VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
I WAS GOING OVER THE VEHICLE FOR THE SEASON AND FOUND I HAD A LEAK IN THE POWER STEERING LINE. THE LINE EFFECTED WAS COVERED WITH A RIBBED PLASTIC SHEATHING LIKE WHAT IS USED FOR A WIRE HARNESSES. THE SHEATHING CAUSED ROAD SALT TO BUILD UP AND CORRODE THE LINE, CAUSING A LEAK AND LOSS OF POWER STEERING. THERE WERE TWO LINES HELD TOGETHER, SIDE BY SIDE, WITH A PLASTIC BRACKET BUT ONLY ONE OF THOSE HAD THE SHEATHING AND I CANNOT UNDERSTAND WHY IT WAS THERE. I ALSO FOUND A WIRE THAT OVERHEATED AND MELTED THE INSULATION AND LEFT THE WIRE BARE. IT'S LOCATED BEHIND THE POWER STEERING PUMP AS VIEWED FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT UNDER THE PLASTIC THAT DISPLAYS THE ENGINE SIZE. THE PLASTIC IS HELD DOWN WITH A COUPLE OF PINS THAT THE PLASTIC PUSHES DOWN OVER WHEN INSTALLED. THE DEALER COULDN'T TELL ME WHAT THE WIRE IS FOR WHEN I CALLED TO EXPLAIN WHAT I FOUND. *JS
THE VEHICLE FAILED TO SHIFT INTO PARK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS A BROKEN WIRE IN THE BTSI SOLENOID TERMINAL WHICH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BY RE WIRING THE GROUND WIRE TO THE SHIFTER WHERE THE PIN HAD BROKEN. ON MAY 3RD THE KEY GOT STUCK IN THE IGNITION AND WOULD NOT COME OUT. LET THE CAR SIT FOR 24 HOURS THE BATTERY DIED AND THE KEY RELEASED OUT OF THE IGNITION. TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP ON MAY 5, 2014 AND THE SHIFTER WIRES WERE RE CONSTRUCTED. CAR STILL ACTS AS IF THE SHIFTER IS NOT GOING TO SHIFT. *TR
AS I WAS PULLING OUT OF A PARKING LOT THE VEHICLE JUST SHUT OFF WITH NO WARNING. THANK GOD I WASN'T GOING TOO FAST AS I HAD NO STEERING, NO BRAKES, ETC... CHECKED THE GM WEBSITE ABOUT THE RECALL AND IT STATES TO TAKE EVERYTHING OFF THE KEY RING EXCEPT THE KEY. WELL I'VE ONLY GOT THE KEY ON THE RING SO THAT EXCUSE DOESN'T WASH. I CALLED THE GM CUSTOMER CENTER AND THEY TOLD ME THAT MY CAR WASN'T INCLUDED IN THE RECALL WITH THE FAULTY IGNITIONS, THEN THEY HUNG UP ON ME. WELL IT SHOULD BE. I THINK THIS IGNITION PROBLEM IS A LOT BIGGER THAN THEY ARE ADMITTING. WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO, I CAN'T AFFORD TO FORK OVER BIG BUCKS TO A DEALER. I'M A SINGLE WORKING MOM. *TR
I WAS DRIVING DOWN A 6 LANE HIGHWAY WITH A MEDIAN IN THE MIDDLE. I WAS IN THE LEFT HAND LANE/FAST LANE DRIVING ATLEAST 35-40MPH. I HIT A BUMP IN THE ROAD AND MY IGNITION SWITCHED FROM RUN TO OFF CAUSING ME TO LOSE ALL POWER IN THE VEHICLE.. SINCE I WAS IN THE LEFT LANE LUCKILY A TURN AROUND WAS NEAR AND I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY PULL THE VEHICLE OVER BEFORE MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP. *TR

"SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL; ENGINE POWER REDUCED" MESSAGE ON DASH AS ENGINE & TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON; PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT, CAR HAS BEEN ACTING SLOWER WITH ACCELERATION & REQUIRED MORE PRESSURE TO BE APPLIED TO ACCELERATOR TO MAINTAIN SPEED. HAPPENED AS I WAS DRIVING ON HIGHWAY. COULD'VE HAD MAJOR ACCIDENT!! CLOSEST DEALERSHIP 30 MILES AWAY. *TR

EXCESSIVE WEAR ON INSIDE EDGES OF REAR TIRES I'M JUST FORTUNATE I CAUGHT THE WEAR EARLY . SO I BROUGHT IT TO MY LOCAL CHEVY DEALER FOR A 4 WHEEL ALIGNMENT. I WAS TOLD THAT BOTH REAR SPINDLE RODS NEEDED REPLACING TO THE TUNE OF $700.00. THE SERVICE DEPT. TOLD ME THEY COULD NOT GET ENOUGH ADJUSTMENT IN THE CURRENT SPINDLE RODS TO BRING THE ALIGNMENT INTO SPEC. AND THERE IS AN UPDATED PART TO REPLACE THEM. GM HAS KNOWN ABOUT THIS PROBLEM SINCE 2009 AND IT EFFECTS BOTH 2007 AND 2008 CHEVY IMPALAS. THEY DID A RECALL ON 07 AND 08 POLICE VERSIONS OF THE IMPALA BUT NOT ON THE CIVILIAN VERSION. THE NHTSB NEEDS TO TAKE A HARD LOOK AT THIS DESIGN PROBLEM BEFORE SOMEONE IS HURT OR KILLED DUE TO A BLOW OUT. *TR

THE VEHICLE IS BLOWING COLD AIR OUT OF THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE EVEN THOUGH THE DUAL TEMPERATURE CONTROLS ARE BOTH SET TO HOT. I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE USED 17 MONTHS AGO AND HAVE HAD INTERMITTENT PROBLEM WITH SEATBELT BUT YESTERDAY THE SEAT BELT WOULD NOT BUCKLE INTO LATCH ON DRIVER'S SIDE AT ALL, CHECKED FOR DEBRIS, COINS IN THE WAY, NOT THERE. THE RED RELEASE LATCH WILL NOT RELEASE AND POP BACK OPEN SO THAT IT CAN ACCEPT THE BUCKLE.
