MY IMPALA'S SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL AND ENGINE POWER REDUCED LIGHTS CAME ON 05/07/12 AND I LOSS POWER TO MY CAR. I TOOK MY CAR IN TO A CHEVY DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT SERVICED, I WAS TOLD AFTER THEY DIAGNOSED IT THAT I NEEDED A NEW THROTTLE BODY SO I HAD IT REPLACED FOR THE COST OF $647.00 1 WEEK LATER I WAS DRIVING HOME AND MY CAR LOSS POWER AND SHUTDOWN COMPLETELY LUCKILY I WASN'T IN HEAVY TRAFFIC AND WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I TRIED TO RESTART IT AND WHITE SMOKE CAME FROM THE TAILPIPE SO I HAD IT TOWED BACK TO THE SAME DEALERSHIP THEY TOLD ME AFTER LOOKING @ IT THAT NOW I NEEDED A NEW ENGINE WHICH WOULD COST ME $6200 I DIDN'T GET ANY LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD OR ANY OTHER INDICATION THAT I WAS HAVING ENGINE TROUBLE AND THEY CANT TELL ME WHY IT HAPPENED. I HAVE MY CAR SERVICED LIKE CLOCKWORK @ THE DEALERSHIP SPENDING GOOD MONEY FOR SUPPOSEDLY GOOD QUALITY SERVICE INSTEAD OF SOME RINKY DINK GARAGE BUT I GUESS THAT DIDN'T MATTER. THIS HAPPENED JUST AFTER WARRANTY EXPIRED, I HAVE 9100 MILES AND 3 CAR PAYMENTS LEFT. *TR
STARTED HAVING TROUBLE WITH MY TRANSMISSION A WHILE BACK. IF I WAS AT A STOP AND TRIED TO ACCELERATE IT WAS SLOWLY TAKE OF THEN ALL OF SUDDEN SLAM INTO THE RIGHT GEAR THEN TAKE OFF. IT ALSO HAPPENED EVEN IF I DIDNT COME TO A COMPLETE STOP AND TRIED TO GO AGAIN. MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AFTER ABOUT A MONTH OF THIS HAPPENING. I HAD IT CHECKED. IT WAS A SHIFT SOLENOID. SINCE I WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY I HAD IT REPLACED. IT WAS FINE TILL ABOUT A TWO WEEKS AGO 08/20/2013. NOW MY TRANSMISSION IS DOING THE SAME THING AGAIN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR CONDITIONER EMITTED AN ABNORMAL CLICKING NOISE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS UNKNOWN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND THEY STATED TO BRING THE VEHICLE IN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 39,000.
WHILE I WAS DRIVING AN ERROR MESSAGE APPEARED ON THE PANEL "ENGINE POWER REDUCED". THE CAR IMMEDIATELY SLOWED DOWN AS IF THE ENGINE HAD CUT-OFF COMPLETELY. IT DID NOT AND I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AT ABOUT 10 MPH. LUCKILY IT WAS LATE AT NIGHT, THE FEW CARS THAT WERE DRIVING NEAR ME WERE ABLE TO CHANGE LANES BEFORE A COLLISION OCCURRED. *TR
SHIFTER CANNOT BE MOVED FROM PARK POSITION (REPAIR/REROUTE BRAKE TRANSMISSION SHIFT INTERLOCK (BTSI) SOLENOID HARNESS) MODELS: 2007-2009 CHEVROLET IMPALA SUPERCEDE:THIS BULLETIN IS BEING REVISED TO END THE NEED FOR INFORMATION FROM THE FIELD AND PROVIDE REPAIR INFORMATION. PLEASE DISCARD CORPORATE BULLETIN NUMBER 08-07-30-007A (SECTION 07 - TRANSMISSION/TRANSAXLE). CONDITION SOME CUSTOMERS MAY COMMENT ON EITHER OF THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS: - THE KEY CANNOT BE REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION. - THE TRANSMISSION GEAR SELECTOR (SHIFTER) CANNOT BE MOVED OUT OF THE PARK POSITION. CAUSE THIS CONDITION MAY BE CAUSED BY AN INCORRECTLY ROUTED BRAKE TRANSMISSION SHIFT INTERLOCK (BTSI) SOLENOID HARNESS WHICH CAN MAKE IT DIFFICULT TO INSTALL. IN SOME INSTANCES, THE WIRING LOOMS ARE TANGLED, CAUSING STRESS ON THE WIRES IN THE CONNECTOR AT THE BTSI. IF THE BTSI HARNESS IS ROUTED INCORRECTLY, IT MAY ALSO RESULT IN A WIRE PINCHING ISSUE. CORRECTION IMPORTANT DO NOT USE FORCE TO MOVE THE GEAR SELECTOR (SHIFTER). USING FORCE MAY CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE BTSI. INSPECTION/ROUTING AND REPAIR OF THE BTSI WIRING HARNESS/CONNECTOR 1. CHECK FOR WIRE DAMAGE AT THE BTSI CONNECTOR TERMINAL ENDS. REFER TO SI FOR REPAIR PROCEDURES. 2. FOR VERY INTERMITTENT ISSUES, CHECK THE BTSI WIRE HARNESS INDIVIDUAL CIRCUITS FOR BROKEN OR CRIMPED WIRES. REFER TO SI FOR REPAIR PROCEDURES. 3. INSPECT THE ROUTING OF THE WIRING HARNESS LEADING TO THE BTSI CONNECTOR. THE ILLUSTRATIONS ABOVE SHOW THE BTSI HARNESS ROUTED INCORRECTLY. 4. REROUTE THE WIRING TO CREATE AVAILABLE SLACK AND AVOID FUTURE OCCURRENCES. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL, IT WOULD EXHIBIT A SQUEAKING NOISE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION AND THEY ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE STEERING COLUMN NEEDED TO BE LUBRICATED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. I AM THE OWNER OF A 2007 CHEVY IMPALA, WHICH IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. (LAST 8 OF VIN #[XXX]) I HAVE HAD SEVERAL PROBLEMS WITH MY VEHICLE FOR THE PAST SEVERAL YEARS STARTING WITH THE "CHECK ENGINE LIGHT." WHEN I WAS IN SCHOOL IN VIRGINIA THE LIGHT FIRST CAME ON AND I TOOK IT TO A GM DEALER IN VIRGINIA FOR A WEEK, THEY SAID THEY FIXED IT AND A WEEK LATER IT CAME BACK ON. I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE BACK AND THEY SAID THEY FIXED IT AGAIN, HOWEVER IT ONCE AGAIN CAME BACK ON. THIS IS EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING BECAUSE IT WOULDN'T LET ME ACCELERATE OVER 25 MPH AND I NEEDED TO GET HOME TO NEW YORK. SEVERAL MONTHS LATER I RECEIVED THE "CHECK ENGINE LIGHT" AGAIN AND BROUGHT IT TO A GM DEALER IN NEW YORK, WHO SUPPOSEDLY FIXED THIS PROBLEM. LAST WEEK THE "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN WITH THE MESSAGE "REDUCED ENGINE POWER" ONCE AGAIN AND THE CAR STOPPED ON THE HIGHWAY AND SHUT-OFF. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AS I WAS STOPPED ON A 60MPH HIGHWAY WITH CARS JUST MISSING ME. I HAVE SPENT THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS AS A COLLEGE STUDENT TRYING TO REPAIR THIS ISSUE WHICH STILL HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED AND NOW HAS BECOME AN INCONVENIENCE, A TOLL ON MY BANK ACCOUNT, AS WELL AS A VERY DANGEROUS SAFETY ISSUE. I AM SCARED TO DRIVE MY CAR TO WORK EVERYDAY NOW, WHICH SHOULD NOT BE THE PROBLEM BECAUSE THE ENGINE LIGHT AND REDUCED POWER IS STILL ON. I HAVE LOOKED ONLINE AT SEVERAL MESSAGE BOARDS AND EVERYONE HAS SAID THE SAME THING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. BOUGHT THE CAR JAN 2012. CAR HAS 31,000 MI. THE INSIDE OF REAR TIRES ARE WEARING OUT. HAD CAR ALIGNED MECHANIC SAYS TIRES NEED REPLACED. IT LOOKS TO ME BY ALL OF THE REPORTS OF THE SAME PROBLEM. THERE IS DEFINITELY A MECHANICAL ISSUE HERE. MAYBE NHTSA SHOULD CHECK THIS OUT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE POWER STEERING FAILED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT IT BECAME VERY DIFFICULT TO STEER TO THE POINT THAT HE LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND THEY OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 85,000.
THE INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT IS FAULTY ON MY 2007 CHEVROLET IMPALA LTZ. IT CURRENTLY HAS 85176 MILES AS IT IS IN A SHOP. THIS IS THE 10TH TIME ME OR ONE OF MY FRIENDS HAS HAD THIS PROBLEM. IT HAS OCCURRED MULTIPLE TIMES ON THE FOLLOWING VEHICLES: 2009 PONTIAC G6 SPORT 2 (MINE) 37,900 MILES, AND WAS BOUGHT NEW. 2008 PONTIAC G6 SPORT 2 (ROOM-MATES) CAR WAS PURCHASED USED AND HAS 50,076 MILES ON IT. 2009 CHEVROLET IMPALA LT (ROOM-MATES MOMS) 60,000 MILES THE CAR HAS BEEN DRIVEN, IT WAS PURCHASED NEW. THIS IS ONLY ONE OF MANY ISSUES WE HAVE HAD WITH THESE THREE CARS. THE OTHER MAJOR ONE IS THAT THE HEAD GASKETS ON THESE CARS DO NOT HOLD UP, AND GM IS DOING NOTHING ABOUT IT. MINE IS IN THE SHOP NOW ALSO FOR A HEAD GASKET (07 IMPALA). WHY IS THERE NO HELP FOR GM CAR OWNERS? GM IS NOT HELPING! JUST SCREWING US OUT OF MONEY! *TR
EXCESSIVE TIRE WEAR, DRIVER SIDE REAR TIRE INSIDE WEARS ABNORMALLY. SUSPECT REAR WHEEL SPINDLE ROD, WHICH WAS RECALLED FOR POLICE MODEL BUT NOT CIVILIAN MODEL FOR REAR WHEEL MISALIGNMENT. DANGER OF WEAR NOT BEING NOTICED SINCE IT IS EXCESSIVE ON THE INSIDE OF TIRE WHICH COULD RESULT IN A TIRE BLOW OUT AND CRASH. *TR
WHILE DRIVING MY 07' CHEVY IMPALA THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE ARM OFTEN WILL DROP TO 'C' AS IF THE ENGINE TEMPERATURE IS COLD, THEN THE DRIVERS INFORMATION DISPLAY PANEL WILL DISPLAY A MESSAGE "ENGINE HOT TURN OFF A/C". I'VE HAD THE THERMOSTAT REPLACED, RADIATOR COOLANT DRAINED AND REPLACED, HOPING TO FIX THIS PROBLEM, BUT I'M STILL DEALING WITH IT. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH I'M FINDING THAT THERE HAS BEEN OTHER CHEVY VEHICLE OWNERS DEALING WITH THIS SAME ISSUE, WHICH IS MOST LIKELY A BAD 'ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR (ECT). *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE TRAVELING 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A ROLLOVER CRASH. NONE OF THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED AND THE CONTACT SUSTAINED A FRACTURED NECK, AS WELL AS OTHER INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN IMPOUND AND DECLARED AS DESTROYED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 93,000.
I HAVE A 2007 CHEVROLET IMPALA FOR MY WIFE TO DRIVE WITH MY TWO CHILDREN. THE POWER STEERING FAILS INTERMITTENTLY IN THE RAIN. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS BECAUSE THE POWER ASSIST COMES AND GOES QUICKLY CAUSING THE DRIVER TO JERK THE WHEEL WHEN THE PWER ASSIST RETURNS. I REPLACED THE SERPENTINE BELT TWO MONTHS AGO FOR THE SAME ISSUE AND IT WAS FINE FOR A WHILE. I HAVE OVER 30 YEARS OF AUTOMOTIVE EXPERIENCE AND I HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS WHILE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE AND IT IS DANGEROUS. THERE IS CLEARLY A MANUFACTURE DEFECT WITH THE POWER ASSIST BELT, TENSIONER OR A PULLEY. THIS IS NOT THE OTHER CONCERN WITH THE CLUNKING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT. *TR

MASSIVE REAR TIRE PREMATURE WEAR CAUSED BY DEFECTIVE DESIGN AND DEFECTIVE TRI-COILED REAR SPRINGS, TRAILING ARMS, AND SPINDLE RODS. *TR
AS I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, SUDDENLY REDUCED ENGINE POWER CAME UP ON THE DASH BOARD. FOLLOWED BY THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKING UP AND THE CAR SHUTTING OFF. AFTER 20 MINUTES THE CAR STARTED AGAIN, BUT NOW I DRIVE WITHA CONSTANT FEAR OF THIS HAPPENING AGAIN, AND WHAT IF MY CHILDREN ARE IN THE CAR NEXT TIME! I HAVE A CONSTANT ISSUE WITH THE POWER STEERING LINE LEAKING, ALTHOUGH I HAVE REPLACED THE PUMP, AND THE FUEL LINE. I FEEL LIKE I AM THROWING MY MONEY INTO A BOTTOM LESS PIT. I WAS DRIVING AND TO AVOID A HEAD ON CRASH I HAD SWERVED AND WENT TO STRAIGHTEN OUT BUT NOTICED THE OTHER DRIVER WAS STILL HEADING FOR ME I HAD BRAKED AND LOST CONTROL OF THE CAR. I HAD FLEW OVER A DITCH AND WENT UP A HILL AND ROLLED BACK DOWN. WE HAD OUR SEAT BELTS ON I WAS KNOCKED OUT BY MY HEAD BANGING ON THE STEERING WHEEL. NONE OF THE AIRBAGS WERE DEPLOYED. RECENTLY BOUGHT 2007 CHEVY IMPALA FOR SON. THIS CAR CANNOT STAY ON THE ROAD IN WET/SNOW CONDITIONS. IT FISHTAILS AND IS SCARY TO DRIVE. I'VE LIVED IN WISCONSIN ALL MY LIFE AND DROVE MANY DIFFERENT CARS BUT NEVER A CAR AS DANGEROUS AS THIS. *TR

YESTERDAY, 12/1/2011, MY PASSENGER HEADLIGHT FAILED. OVER A YEAR AGO, I HAD WENT TO REPLACE THE BULB, AND IT CAME ON AFTER JARRING IT, SO I WAITED TO REPLACE THE BULB UNTIL TODAY. THIS MORNING, NEITHER BULB WORKED. THINKING THIS MAY BE A PROBLEM WITH THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH, I TURNED AUTOMATIC LIGHTING OFF, THEN BACK ON. THAT FAILED, HOWEVER THE BRIGHTS DID WORK. I PULLED OVER AND RAPPED ON THE DRIVER HEADLIGHT HOUSING A FEW TIMES, AND THE LIGHT CAME ON. THEN I DID THE SAME TO THE PASSENGER SIDE, WHICH ALSO CAME ON. VERY UNSAFE TO AFFECT THE VISIBILITY OF A DRIVER, ESPECIALLY SINCE I SUSPECT THIS CAN HAPPEN WHILE DRIVING, OR LEAVE SOMEBODY STRANDED AT WORK WHEN THEY GO TO LEAVE AND HAVE NO HEADLIGHTS. *TR

HAS NOT HAD A RECALL EXCEPT FOR 20,000 POLICE MADE CARS MON. 11-28-11 A GM PERSON FINALLY SAID YOU HAVE WARRANTY FOR 100,000 MILES TAKE CAR BACK TO DEALER AND TELL THEM TO FIX THE VEHICLE THIS CAR HAS NO VALUE ANYMORE DEALERS DON'T ADVERTISE THEM FOR SALE ANYMORE IN MAINE PAPERS, THEY KNOW OF THE PROBLEMS. YOU FOLKS HAVE TO DEMAND THAT G.M. RECALL AND REPAIR EVERY CAR 2007-2008 IMPALAS WITH PROBLEM. ONE SET OF TIRES ON THIS CAR WORE A STRIP 2 INCHES WIDE FROM OUTSIDE EDGES TOWARD CENTER IN 4 MONTHS MY MECHANIC WHO WAS CHANGING THE OIL CALLED ME OUT TO LOOK AT THEM, HE HAD PUT THEM ON THE CAR. THEY WERE DOWN TO CANVAS AND STEEL BELT, MY WIFE DRIVES THIS VEHICLE AND SHE NEVER NOTICED ANYTHING THIS WAS SHEAR CHANCE IN SPOTTING PROBLEM I FEEL THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM. A HIGH SPEED BLOWOUT ON INTER STATE, THE ONLY PLACE SHE DRIVES FAST TO VISIT KIDS WOULD HAVE BEEN CATASTROPHE. THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM ON THE ABOVE MENTIONED VEHICLE.IS ACTING UP. FAULT DISPLAY ON THE DASH INDICATES ENGINE IS RUNNING HOT. AND THAT THE AC UNIT IS OFF. WAITED FOR CAR TO COOL OFF SUFFICIENTLY TO ALLOW VISUAL INSPECTION OF COOLING FLUID LEVELS. THEY CHECKED OK. ALSO CHECKED TO MAKE SURE FANS OPERATE,THEY BOTH COME ON. TOOK VEHICLE TO PLACE OF PURCHASE FOR SECOND OPINION. MECHANIC CHECKED VEHICLE OUT. COULD NOT FIND ANY MECHANICAL ISSUES WITH CAR. COULD NOT EXPLAIN WHY THE DASH IS SHOWING THAT FAULT CODE. ALSO REPLACED THERMOSTAT THINKING IT MIGHT BE BAD. PROBLEM STILL PERSISTS,NOW TEMP. GAUGE WILL THAT ENGINE IS RUNNING HOT WHEN ACCELERATED. AND RETURN TO NORMAL WHEN ENGINE IS IDLING. *TR

HAD BEEN ON VACATION AND NOT DRIVING CAR FOR A MONTH OR MORE, THEN 11-14-11 IT WAS SOMETHING VERY NOTICEABLE AND I DROVE DIRECTLY TO DEALERSHIP TO BE CHECKED. THEY CHARGED $96.00 TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM AND REPLACED STEERING SHAFT #25937479 SHAFT (06524-C). MY TOTAL BILL WAS $312.86. IS THIS ANY PART OF MY WARRANTY COVERAGE????? *TR

REAR WHEELS CANTER ARE OUT OF SPEC AND CANNOT BE SET PROPERLY RESULTING IN WHEEL WEAR AND TIRE REPLACEMENT 5000 MILES INTO NEW TIRES. HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH WARPING ROTORS ON A 2007 LTZ WITH ONLY 50,XXX MILES ON IT. I NOTICED THAT ALL OF A SUDDEN WHEN I WOULD TRY TO STOP MY CAR WOULD SHAKE OR HESITATE TO STOP. I THOUGHT IT WAS MY BRAKES. AFTER TRYING TO PARK AND THE BRAKES NOT STOPPING AT ALL. I TOOK THE CAR TO REPAIR SHOP TO BE FIXED. FIRST I WAS TOLD IT WAS THE MASTER CYLINDER AFTER REPLACING THAT THE CAR STILL WOULD NOT STOP. SO I WAS TOLD IT WAS THE HYDRAULIC ABS SYSTEM AND THAT ALL THE BRAKES AND ROTORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALERSHIP DOESN'T HAVE THE PART IT IS ON BACKORDER DUE TO THE HIGH VOLUME OF THE PART. THAT SAYS TO ME THERE IS A PROBLEM THAT CHEVY NEEDS TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR AND CORRECT BEFORE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT HAPPENS. *KB

REAR TIRES WEARING TOO PREMATURELY DUE TO BAD ENGINEERING AND DESIGN IN THE 2007 CHEVY IMPALA. I'M AT 50,000 MILES AND SECOND SET OF TIRES IS WEARING TOO SOON AS WELL. THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE SUSPENSION & SPINDLE RODS ANGLING THE TIRES IN THE WRONG POSITION CAUSING THE CAR TO BE UNSAFE DURING ANY ICE, SNOW AND OR SLIPPERY CONDITIONS. GM HAS RECALLED ALL POLICE VEHICLES TO FIX THE PROBLEM IN THE EXACT MODEL CAR. HOWEVER, THEY ARE LEAVING THE INDIVIDUAL OWNER TO SCRAMBLE AND FIND A SOLUTION, KNOWING IT'S A DANGEROUS SITUATION. REAR SPINDLE RODS PART NUMBERS 10329689 (2) AND 10329691 (2) NEED TO BE REPLACED AS NOTED ON BULLETIN 08032 BY GM AND THEY SELL A COMPLETE KIT TO CORRECT THEIR MISTAKE. THIS IS A $600 TO $700 REPAIR PLUS NEW TIRES G.M. WILL NOT REPLACE ANYTHING STATING THIS ONLY APPLIES TO POLICE VEHICLES. BUT ALL PART NUMBERS ARE THE SAME ON POLICE AND REGULAR IMPALA'S. TRAVELING EASTBOUND ON I-90, LOW TIRE PRESSURE WARNING CAME ON, I PULLED OVER TO CHECK MY TIRES AND NOTICED THAT JUST THE INSIDE OF MY REAR TIRES WERE WORN DOWN TO THE BELTS, HOWEVER VERY LITTLE WEAR ON THE OUT SIDE OF THE TIRE. I VISUALLY CHECKED THE TIRE PRIOR TO GETTING ON THE HIGHWAY AND DID NOT NOTICE ANY WEAR. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH, I FOUND THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL. REAR SUSPENSION IS UNSTABLE, THIRD SET OF GOOD REAR TIRES BEING PUT ON, AGAIN. THE CAR NOW HAS 69K MILES. *TT
I BOUGHT MY CAR USED WITH 40,000 MILE ON IT. THE TIRES WERE PERFECT WHEN I BOUGHT IT. 9,000 MILES LATER, MY FRONT TIRES KEPT GOING FLAT. I LOOKED AT THEM AND THE ENTIRE INSIDE OF THE TIRES WERE WORN THROUGH. I TOOK IT TO THE LOCAL TIRE SHOP AND THEY TOLD ME THE TIRES WORE LIKE THAT DUE TO A BAD ALIGNMENT. MY STEERING SEEMED FINE. THE MANAGER OF THE SHOP CAME OUT TO TELL ME THAT MANY OF HIS CUSTOMERS WITH IMPALAS HAVE SIMILAR ISSUES. A EXTRA LONG FACTORY INSTALLED CAMBER BOLT CAUSES THE VEHICLES TO BECOME UN ALIGNED, AND CAUSES EXCESSIVE WEAR ON THE TIRES. *TR
I PURCHASED A 2007 CHEVY IMPALA 3.5 LT IN 2011. SOON DISCOVERED THE BACK END SHIFTS WHEN GOING OVER ROUGH, UNEVEN ROADS AND HIGHWAYS. IT ALSO SHIFTS WHEN GOING OVER MANHOLE COVERS. I AM FRUSTRATED THAT THE LOCAL DEALER WILL NOT TAKE THE CAR BACK AND ALSO THAT GM MOTORS HQ WILL NOT FIX THIS DANGEROUS PROBLEM. THE SUDDEN ACCELERATION FAILURE WAS RECENTLY EXPERIENCED AND WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER TO HAVE A DIAGNOSTIC PERFORMED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 17,000 AND THE APPROXIMATE CURRENT 90,000.
THE CAR HAS ALIGNMENT PROBLEM. WHILE DRIVING I NEVER FELT CONFIDENT ABOUT THE FEEL AND FELT LIKE TRACTION WAS NOT WAS NOT GOOD. ORIGINAL SET OF TIRES PREMATURELY FAILED AROUND 30,000 MILES. EXCESSIVE WEAR ON THE INSIDE. WHEN COMPLAINED THE DEALER SAID IT NEEDED ALIGNMENT AND PERFORMED ON THE FRONT WHEELS. AFTER THAT I REPLACED ALL 4 TIRES. UPON EXAMINING THE TIRES RECENTLY I REALIZED THAT THE REAR TIRES ARE WEARING UNEVENLY, INSIDE WAS WEARING FAST. THE ROAD NOSE FROM THE REAR WHEELS WAS INCREASING STEADILY. HOWEVER THE FRONT TIRES SEEMS TO BE FINE. WHEN I CALLED THE DEALER WITH THE PROBLEM, HE SUGGESTED ALL WHEEL ALIGNMENT FOR WHICH I WILL HAVE TO PAY. I STRONGLY BELIEVE THE PROBLEM WAS DUE TO DEFECTIVE PARTS/INSPECTION PRIOR TO DELIVERY.
WE PURCHASED OUR 2007 IMPALA SS ON 11/17/09 WITH 33,003 MILES ON IT. ON JULY 20, 2011 WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM WORK WITH MY WIFE AND STEPSON ON THE I-94 FREEWAY IN CLINTON TOWNSHIP, MI., THE LEFTSIDE REAR TIRE BLEWOUT. WE NOTICE THAT IT HAD BROKE THE INNER PLASTIC PIECE AND BENT THE MUFFLER TIP AND THERE WAS CLEARLY NO RUBBER LEFT ON THE INSIDE OF THE TIRE ALL YOU SAW WAS WIRES. HAD TO PUT OUR SPARE TIRE ON. TOOK THE CAR INTO THE TIRE SHOP ON JULY 22, 2011 TO HAVE THAT TIRE REPLACED, SERVICE GUY SAID THERE WAS NO RUBBER LEFT ON THE INSIDE OF THE LEFT TIRE IN THE REAR, AND THE WIRES WERE CLEARLY VISIBLE AND SHOWED US THEM, WHICH WE HAD NOTICED WHEN THIS OCCURRED. HE ALSO STATED THAT ON THE REAR RIGHTSIDE THE WIRES WERE SHOWING TOO. WE HAD HIM REPLACE ALL 4 TIRES ON THE VEHICLE. HE ALSO STATED THAT WE HAD BEEN THE 4TH IMPALA THEY HAD REPLACED TIRES ON IN THE PAST WEEK. WHILE ON THE LIFT WE NOTICED THAT THE BACK TIRES WERE SLIGHTLY LEANING OUT, LIKE (/) LEFT SIDE AND (\) RIGHT SIDE, I TOLD HIM THAT I WANT THE TIRES BACK AND HE GAVE THEM TO ME. WE TOOK THEM HOME AND TOOK PICKS OF THEM AND THE BACK OF OUR CAR TO SHOW HOW THE TIRES WERE STILL LEANING OUT, AND ALSO TOOK PICTURES OF WHERE THE PLASTIC HAD BEEN BROKE IN THE WHEEL WELL. THIS HAS HAPPENED IN LESS THAN 20,000 MILE SINCE WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP THAT WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE FROM AND TOLD THE SERVICE GUY WHAT HAD HAPPENED, HE STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL AS OF YET ON THIS PROBLEM BUT THAT OTHER PEOPLE HAD CAME IN WITH THE SAME COMPLAINTS, THAT I SHOULD GET AHOLD OF GM AND SEE WHAT THEY SAY. HE TOLD ME THAT HE WAS AWARE OF THE POLICE VEHICLE THAT HAD BEEN RECALLED BUT AS OF YET KNEW NOTHING ABOUT ALL OTHERS. I WAS SENT A RECALL FOR MY VEHICLE. I THINK IT IS TERRIBLE THAT YOU HAVE NOT FOUND A WAY TO FIX THIS PROBLEM SINCE IT HAS BEEN KNOWN ABOUT SINCE 2003 AND YOU KEPT ON MANUFACTURING THIS PRODUCT. SHIFT GEAR STICKING WOULD NOT MOVE. STRANDED AT 1 AM IN THE MORNING.
MY VEHICLE HAS THE 3.9 L LTZ PACKAGE. IT USES 2 TO 3 QUARTS OF OIL PER OIL CHANGE. I AM CURRENTLY WORKING WITH THE DEALERSHIP TO MONITOR MY OIL CONSUMPTION EVERY 1,000 MILES. SO FAR WE HAVE USED 1/2 QUART IN 2,000 MILES. THE DEALERSHIP DOES NOT SEEMED CONCERNED BUT FRANKLY MY CAR SHOULD NOT BE USING ANY OIL. GM SHOULD DO SOMETHING. WE HAVE A 10 YEAR/100,000 MILE WARRANTY. I HOPE GM DOESN'T TRY TO SQUEAK OUT OF FIXING THIS ISSUE. *KB
