TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THE ENGINE POWER REDUCED WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE OVER 30 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO REPAIRED THE THROTTLE PEDAL SENSOR AND THE EVAPORATE SYSTEM. THE REMEDY FAILED TO REPAIR THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE THROTTLE PEDAL SENSOR WAS REPLACED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
THE RIGHT REAR DOOR LOCK WORKS INTERMITTENTLY WITH MY POWER DOOR LOCK SYSTEM ON MY 2008 CHEVY IMPALA. ALSO THE RIGHT FRONT PASSENGER DOOR LOCK WORKED INTERMITTENTLY AT FIRST AND NOW IT DOES NOT RESPOND. I HAVE DONE SOME RESEARCH ONLINE AND I KNOW I AM NOT THE ONLY OWNER OF A 2008 CHEVROLET IMPALA WITH THIS PROBLEM. PLEAS HELP. IS THERE ANY WAY A RECALL CAN BE ISSUED TO GET THIS ISSUE FIXED? IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO UNLOCK THE RIGHT REAR DOOR FROM THE OUTSIDE WITH A KEY BECAUSE THERE IS NO KEY HOLE. THERE IS ONLY ONE KEY HOLE ON TO UNLOCK A DOOR WITH THE CAR KEY AND IT IS ON THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR ONLY. *TR
2008 IMPALA SS: OFTEN WHEN I TRY TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP THE CAR FEELS SLUGGISH AND DOES NOT ACCELERATE. I TALKED TO A MECHANIC AND THIS IS A COMMON DEFECT WITH THESE VEHICLES. I FIGURED BY NOW THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL SINCE THIS IS SO COMMON, BUT I SUPPOSE THERE HAVE TO FATALITIES AND LAWSUITS IN ORDER FOR THE MANUFACTURE TO STEP IN. *TR
THE ELECTRIC DOOR LOCKS LOCK / UNLOCK INTERMITTENTLY. WHEN THE CAR IS STARTED ALL THE DOOR LOCKS SHOULD AUTOMATICALLY LOCK, BUT THEY DO NOT ALWAYS LOCK. IN ADDITION, WHEN YOU PARK THE CAR AND HIT THE DOOR LOCK KEY ALL THE DOOR LOCKS WILL NOT LOCK. WHEN YOU START THE CAR YOU HAVE TO MANUALLY CHECK THE DOOR LOCKS TO MAKE SURE THEY HAVE ALL LOCKED. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE IF YOU HAVE CHILDREN IN THE CAR. IN ADDITION,WHEN YOU PARK THE CAR, YOU HAVE TO MANUALLY MAKER SURE ALL THE DOOR LOCKS ACTUALLY LOCK.WHEN I CONTACTED MY LOCAL DEALER ABOUT THE ISSUE THEY STATED THAT THEY HAD REPAIRED A FEW VEHICLES FOR THE DOOR LOCK FAILURES, BUT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THEY INDICATED THAT THE GREASE USED FOR THE LOCKS MELTED AND LEAKED INTO THE LOCK SOLENOID CAUSING THE FAILURES. I RESEARCHED THE ISSUE ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND MANY PEOPLE WHO OWN THE 2008/2009 CHEVY IMPALA AND MALIBU ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE. *TR
I WAS STARTING THE CAR UP AND THE ENGINE WAS GOING IN AND OUT. I NOTICED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON AND IT STAYED ON. THE STABILI-TRAC LIGHT ALSO CAME ON. THE PANEL ALSO SAID THAT THE ENGINE WAS LOSING POWER. THIS HAPPENED 2 TIMES WITHIN THE LAST 8 DAYS. I STOPPED THE VEHICLE AND TURNED IT OFF. CRANKED IT BACK UP AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS STILL ON. TOOK IT TO THE CAR DEALER AND THEY SAID THAT IT WAS THE THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER WAS TRAVELING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED WHEN THE VEHICLE VEERED OFF THE ROADWAY. THE DRIVER ATTEMPTED TO REGAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE BUT CRASHED INTO A TREE. THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A FIVE-YEAR-OLD CHILD PASSENGER WAS KILLED IN THE CRASH AND TWO PASSENGERS WERE INJURED AND REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V355000 (ELECTRICAL) TWO WEEKS AFTER THE CRASH, WHICH ADVISED OF A POSSIBLE AIR BAG FAILURE DUE TO THE IGNITION DEFECT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT DID NOT DISCLOSE IF A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED OR NOT.
A MECHANIC HAD TO REPLACE THE IGNITION LOCK SOLENOID. THE KEY GOT STUCK IN THE IGNITION AND IT COULD NOT BE REMOVED UNTIL IT WAS REPAIRED. I AM REQUESTING REIMBURSEMENT FROM MY REPAIR. THERE WAS A RECALL ISSUED ON JUNE 20, 2014 FOR AN UNINTENDED IGNITION KEY ROTATION APPARENTLY THIS WAS THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM I HAD IN 2013 THEREFORE I WOULD LIKE REIMBURSEMENT
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON DUE TO CONSTANT SENSOR FAILURES. THE FIRST WAS A FAULTY OIL SENSOR. THE CAR SHUT DOWN AND WAS UNABLE TO START OR RUN DO TO A SERVICE STABILITRAK CODE. BECAUSE OF THEBOTH ISSUES WE WERE UNABLE TO PROPERLY SECURE THE CAR AND ITS CONTENTS. THE BREAKDOWN ALSO CAUSE US TO BE STRANDED IN EXTREMELY COLD WEATHER. *TR
KEY GETS STUCK IN IGNITION AND WILL NOT TURN TO LOCK POSITION. THE BATTERY RUNS DOWN AFTER SITTING FOR AWHILE. I "GOOGLED" COMPLAINTS OF THIS HAPPENING AND THERE WERE HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS. THE PROBLEM LIES IN THE CENTER CONSOLE OF AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION CARS. CHEVROLET DESIGNED THE WIRING HARNESS TO DRAG ACROSS THE FLOOR WHILE MOVING THE SHIFTER LEVER FROM GEAR TO GEAR. THIS EVENTUALLY CAUSES THE WIRES TO BREAK. DEPENDING ON WHICH OF THE FIVE WIRES BREAK CAUSES PROBLEMS WITH THE IGNITION SWITCH (CAR WON'T START, TRANSMISSION WON'T SHIFT, STEERING WHEEL WON'T LOCK, KEY WON'T COME OUT ARE SOME OF THE PROBLEMS). AS I STATED THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS AND FEEL TO ISSUE A RECALL BY CHEVROLET WOULD BE INLINE. *TR
2008 AN UP CHEVY IMPALA TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT AN CHECK ENGINE LIGHT PLUS ENGINE POWER REDUCE. ITS ACTUALLY THE SENSOR ON YOUR GAS PEDAL WHAT WILL HAPPENED WITHOUT WARNING THE CAR WILL DROP TO 5 MPH. WHILE YOU ARE DRIVING AND STAY LIKE THAT I TOOK IT TO THE CHEVY DEALER AN THEY EXPLAIN TO ME WHAT'S THE PROBLEM ITS A VERY SERIOUS DEFECT THAT CAN CAUSE A REAR END CRASH TO THE LOSING THE AMOUNT OF POWER. THE CHEVY DEALERSHIP EXPLAINED TO ME THAT THEY HAVE A LOT OF PROBLEMS WITH THE CHEVY IMPALA GAS PEDAL.THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE AN NEED TO A RECALL FOR THESE MAKES AN MODELS. *TR
PREMATURE TIRES WEAR ON THE INSIDE TREAD OF THE REAR WHEELS. THIS IS CAUSING STEERING ISSUES AT HIGH SPEED. NOT NOTICEABLE UNTIL REAR TIRES ARE ROTATED TO FRONT, THEN THERE IS A SHAKE. THERE IS A PENDING LAWSUIT FOR THIS OCCURRENCE ON THE 07 AND 08 IMPALAS. APPARENTLY THE REAR SPINDLES ARE TO BLAME DUE TO POOR DESIGN. *TR
I WAS IN AN ACCIDENT IN ROYALTON, VT TRAVELING FROM BURLINGTON, VT WHERE I WAS VISITING FAMILY TO MY HOME IN MAINE. I WENT OFF THE ROAD INTO THE DITCH IN THE MEDIAN, I'M NOT SURE WHY BUT THEY THINK I MAY HAVE HIT SOME BLACK ICE. I ENDED UP IN THE DARTMOUTH HOSPITAL REQUIRING MAJOR SURGERY TO MY BACK AS WELL AS SOME OTHER PROBLEMS. I SPENT 6 WEEKS IN REHAB LEARNING HOW TO WALK AGAIN. MY AIRBAGS DID NOT INFLATE. I WAS WORRIED MORE ABOUT MY RECOVERY AT THE TIME AND NOT ABOUT WHY MY AIR BAGS DIDN'T INFLATE BUT I HAVE SEEN SEVERAL RECALLS LATELY THAT ADDRESS THE ISSUE. I TRADED IN THE CAR A COUPLE OF YEARS LATER SO I DID NOT GET ANY NOTICES ABOUT THE PROBLEM.. I UNDERSTAND THERE HAS BEEN A LAWSUIT FILED BUT I WAS NEVER CONTACTED ABOUT IT - PROBABLY BECAUSE I NO LONGER HAVE THE CAR. I WOULD LIKE SOME RESOLUTION TO THIS SITUATION
I STARTED THE CAR WITH THE REMOTE START AND IT WAS WARMING UP, WENT OUT PUT MY TWO SMALL CHILDREN I AND STARTED IT WITH THE KEY, WENT BACK TO GRAB MY BAG, AND GOT IN TO GO. WHEN I HOPPED IN THE MESSAGE CENTER WAS BLINKING; ENGINE POWER REDUCED, STABILIZATION TRACK, AND SOMETHING ELSE TO DO WITH THE TRACTION CONTROL. IT WAS VERY COLD OUT AND WE HAD A LONG DRIVE, I WAS VERY SCARED WE WOULD BE STRANDED IN THE COLD. MY CAR HAS SEVERAL MILES, BUT HAS ALWAYS BEEN TAKEN CARE OF. THIS IS VERY FRUSTRATING, AND SCARY. I HAVE DONE SOME RESEARCH ON-LINE, AND IT SOUNDS AS THOUGH CHEVY IS DOING NOTHING TO HELP THE SITUATION, AND ITS HAPPENING WITH A LOT OF THE SAME YEAR VEHICLES! I LOVE MY CAR, THIS IS THE FIRST BIG ISSUE, I AM SO SAD ABOUT IT. I AM WORRIED ABOUT DRIVING WITH MY KIDS, FROM WHAT I HAVE READ THE CAR WILL JUST TURN OFF! NOT OKAY!!! WHEN TAKING OFF FROM A START THE TRANSMISSION DOESN'T ENGAGE CAUSING THE ENGINE TO REV, THEN IT SLAMS INTO GEAR EVENTUALLY. HAVE ALSO NOTICED A DECREASE IN POWER SOMEWHAT. HAVE HAD IT IN THE DEALER FOR SERVICE 3 TIMES AND OF COURSE THEY SAY THEY CANT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. KINDA CRAPPY SINCE THE WARRANTY JUST WENT OUT ON THE DRIVE TRAIN ABOUT A MONTH AGO. PROBLEM ONLY SEEMS TO BE GETTING WORSE. I HAVE READ ON FORUMS OF THIS ISSUE ON NUMEROUS VEHICLES THAT USE THE 4T65-HD TRANSMISSION AND THAT GM REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THERE IS A FLAW IN THESE TRANSMISSIONS. *TR
I WAS GOING DOWN THE ROAD AND OUT OF NO WHERE MY CAR SAYS SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL, FOLLOWED BY SERVICE STABILITRAK, FOLLOWED BY ENGINE POWER REDUCED WITH A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON. LOST ALMOST ALL POWER TO THE CAR, COULD BARELY TURN THE WHEEL AND THE BRAKES FELT EXTREMELY STRANGE. I COULD ONLY GO ABOUT 5MPH TOPS DOWN THE ROAD. LUCKILY I WAS ONLY 2 MIN FROM HOME. WHICH ACTUALLY TOOK 6 MIN BECAUSE OF THE REDUCED ENGINE SPEED. RIGHT BEFORE I PULLED IN THE DRIVEWAY THE MOTOR DIED. THE NEXT DAY I WENT OUT AND TRIED STARTING IT. THE REMOTE START WASN'T WORKING AND MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS STILL ON BUT IT DID START UP WITH A TURN OF THE KEY. I LOOKED UP CODES AND FOUND THAT IT WAS TELLING ME THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL SENSOR WAS BAD. I HAVE GOOGLED THIS ISSUE AND FOUND THAT IT IS A VERY DANGEROUS, COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE CHEVY IMPALA. ALTHOUGH THAT IS THE CODE IT IS GIVING ME, OTHER PEOPLE HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THEIR THROTTLE BODY TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. GM SHOULD RECALL IT BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT. I WILL NOT BE BUYING ANOTHER GM VEHICLE IN THE FUTURE BECAUSE THEY ARE TOO CHEAP TO FIX THIS COMMON ISSUE WHICH COULD ESSENTIALLY COST SOMEONE THEIR LIFE. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION FOR THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND ADVISED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL FOR THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 94,860.
I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH REMOVING KEY FROM IGNITION WHEN THE CAR IS IN PARK. I HAVE RESEARCH THE DATA AND THERE ARE SEVERAL YOU TUBE VIDEOS ON THIS SAME PROBLEM...IT IS A FAULTY WIRE (PURPLE) THAT SHIFTS WITH THE GEAR AND CAUSE THE WIRE TO BE WORN AND MAKE THE KEYS UNABLE TO BE REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION. THIS PROBLEMS HAPPENS WITH THE 2006, 2007 AND 2008 IMPALA. THIS CAUSE THE BATTERY TO DIE AND IS A SIX HUNDRED DOLLAR JOB SHOULD IT BE TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR REPAIR. IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL. ALSO, I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO A LOCAL DEALER FOR THE RECENT RECALL, THINKING THAT MAY HAVE RESOLVED THE PROBLEM...EPIC FAIL. THANKS *TR
2008 CHEVY IMPALA. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO WINDOW DEFOGGER MALFUNCTION. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED HE CHECKED THE FUSE BLOCK UNDER THE HOOD AND FOUND THE DEFOGGER RELAY TO BE WORKING. THE FUSE BLOCK DID NOT HAVE A FUSE FOR THE REAR WINDOW DEFOGGER. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN AUTO REPAIR SHOP, AND AFTER HOURS OF INVESTIGATING AND TESTING, THE DOOR TRIM UNDER THE IP FUSE BOX WAS REMOVED AND A 30 AMP FUSE AND HOLDER WAS FOUND HIDDEN UNDER THE TRIM. THE HOLDER AND FUSE WERE REPLACED. LAST DECEMBER THE DEFOGGER STOPPED WORKING AGAIN. THE DOOR TRIM HAD TO BE REMOVED AND THE FUSE HOLDER WAS REPLACED.
WE PURCHASED THE CAR NEW FROM GRAND PRIZE CHEVROLET. AT ABOUT 8000 MILES I NOTICED UNEVEN WEAR ON THE FRONT TIRES AND CALLED THE DEALER. I WAS TOLD THAT THE WARRANTY ONLY COVERED WHEEL ALIGNMENT FOR THE FIRST 6000 MILES. ACCORDINGLY, I TOOK THE CAR TO TIRE KINGDOM, A TIRE DEALER, AND HAD THE CAR ALIGNED. AT 20,000 MILES I AGAIN NOTICED UNEVEN WEAR IN THE TIRES AND TOOK THE CAR BACK TO TIRE KINGDOM. THEY ALIGNED IT AGAIN AND SAID IT WAS OK. IT WASN'T. AT ABOUT 35,000 MILES IT WAS ALIGNED AGAIN BY TIRE KINGDOM AND I PUT IN NEW TIRES. THE STORE MANAGER, [XXX] TOLD ME HE HAD DONE THE ALIGNMENT HIMSELF AND THAT ALL WAS WITHIN SPECS. AT 52000 MILES ONE OF THE TIRES FAILED. IT WAS ALL WORN ON THE INSIDE EDGE WHERE I HAD NOT NOTICED THE UNEVEN WEAR. I THEN TOOK THE VEHICLE TO MAROONE CHEVROLET WHO TOLD ME THEY COULD NOT ALIGN THE CAR WITHOUT THE INSTALLATION OF WHAT THEY CALL A "CAMBER KIT" BECAUSE MY 2008 IMPALA HAD NO OTHER WAY OF HAVING THE CAMBER ADJUSTED. IN SUMMARY: MY 2008 IMPALA WAS MISALIGNED WHEN I PURCHASED IT AND 52000 MILES LATER IS STILL MISALIGNED BECAUSE THE MANUFACTURER FAILED TO INCLUDE CAMBER ADJUSTMENT IN THE DESIGN. NEITHER THE MANUFACTURER OR THE DEALER ACCEPTS RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS DEFECT, HAVE NOT ISSUED A RECALL AND WILL NOT FIX THE PROBLEM UNLESS WE PAY THEIR BLACKMAIL. HOWEVER, ACCORDING TO REPORTS ON THE INTERNET, A RECALL FOR THIS VERY SAME PROBLEM WAS ISSUED BY THE MANUFACTURER FOR POLICE VEHICLES. AFTER MYSTERIOUS LOSS OF COOLANT, THE HEAD GASKETS REQUIRED REPLACEMENT DUE TO BAD HEAD BOLTS FROM THE FACTORY. THIS OCCURRED 2 MONTHS AFTER THE FACTORY WARRANTY EXPIRED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET IMPALA. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE LOST POWER AND THE SPEED REDUCED TO 35 MPH. THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE ERRONEOUSLY SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO STALL. AS A RESULT, ANOTHER VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE DURING THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS KNOCKED UNCONSCIOUS. THE DRIVER AND THE CONTACT SUFFERED A CONCUSSION. THE CONTACT ALSO SUFFERED AN ANKLE INJURY. THE DRIVER OF THE OTHER VEHICLE SUFFERED A LEG INJURY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE HAD ALSO OCCURRED PRIOR TO THE CRASH. THE CONTACT DID NOT TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER OR MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 117,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME DIFFICULT TO TURN WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE PULLER AND POWER STEERING PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. I OWN A 2008 CHEVROLET IMPALA. TODAY 11/03/2012 WHILE DRIVING TO WORK THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WITH A MESSAGE INDICATING "ENGINE POWER REDUCED". I RESEARCHED THE ISSUE AND DISCOVERED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL SENSOR IS MALFUNCTIONING AND THIS CAUSES THE MESSAGE AND CHECK ENGINE TO APPEAR. THIS SENSOR AFFECTS THE CARS DRIVABILITY AND CAUSES LIMITED SPEED IN THE VEHICLE. I LOOKED ON GOOGLE AND THERE ARE SEVERAL COMPLAINTS REGARDING THE SAME ISSUE. I GUESS NO ONE HAS REPORTED IT BUT IT SEEMS VERY COMMON AMONGST CHEVROLET IMPALA MODEL CARS 2006 AND UP. THIS IS A LARGE SAFETY HAZARD TO SMALL CHILDREN IN THE BACK OF THE CAR AS THERE IS NO FAST OR EASY WAY TO OPEN THE REAR DOORS ONCE LOCKED TO GET THE CHILD OUT IN AN EMERGENCY. I REQUEST THIS BE LOOKED INTO FURTHER FOR A RECALL AS IT CREATES A SAFETY HAZARD ESPECIALLY FOR CHILDREN IN CAR SEAT ON THE BACK SEAT, WHICH THERE IS NO QUICK WAY TO UNLOCK THE DOORS TO REMOVE THEM IN AN EMERGENCY. TH ENGINE OF MY 2008 IMPALA COMPLETELY SHUT OFF ON TWO OCCASIONS APPROXIMATELY TWO YEARS AGO AFTER HITTING A RELATIVELY LARGE POT HOLE. IN THE FIRST INCIDENT, I WAS TRAVELING WEST BOUND ON SNELL ROAD (OAKLAND TOWNSHIP, MI) BETWEEN ORION AND ROCHESTER ROAD AND HIT A LARGE POT HOLE TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 40 MILES PER HOUR AND THE VEHICLE ENGINE AND ELECTRICAL SYSTEM COMPLETELY SHUT OFF. AS I RECALL, I STEERED THE VEHICLE (MANUALLY) TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK, AND RESTARTED THE ENGINE. NO OTHER CARS WERE COMING EITHER WAY. A SIMILAR INCIDENT HAPPENED APPROXIMATELY 3 MONTHS LATER AS I WAS HEADING EASTBOUND ON SNELL ROAD BETWEEN MT. VERNON AND ROCHESTER ROAD. WHEN THE GM IGNITION RECALLS STARTED, I DID NOT CORRELATE THESE INCIDENTS WITH THE RECALL. HOWEVER, WHEN I READ A NEWSPAPER ACCOUNT RECENTLY OF A GM EMPLOYEE EXPERIENCING THE SAME SITUATION WITH HER 2006 IMPALA, I REALIZED IT MUST HAVE BEEN AN IGNITION ISSUE AS WELL. THE POWER DOOR LOCKS WORK INTERRMITTENLY, BOTH WITH THE REMOTE KEY FOB AND THE INTERIOR DOOR LOCK BUTTONS OFTEN RESULTING IN MANUALLY HAVING TO USE THE KEY TO ENTER THE VEHICLE OR PHYSICALLY PULLING UP THE LOCK ONCE INSIDE THE CAR TO UNLOCK A PARTICULAR DOOR. THIS IS NOT A BATTERY ISSUE FOR THE REMOTE AS I'VE EVEN NOTICED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS WHEN USING THE REMOTE TO UNLOCK THE DRIVER'S DOOR, THE DOOR LOCK REGISTER THE "INPUT" AND ATTEMPT TO MOVE UP TO THE UNLOCK POSITION, PHYSICALLY LOOK AS IF SOMETHING WERE PREVENTING IT FROM DOING SO, AND REMAIN IN THE LOCKED POSITION. AND, ITS COMPLETELY RANDOM AS FOR WHICH DOOR LOCK WILL OPERATE AND THERE ARE STRETCHES OF DAYS WHEN ALL LOCKS WILL OPERATE PROPERLY WITH BOTH THE REMOTE AND THE DOOR LOCK BUTTONS. ALSO, THERE IS NO PATTERN TO WHICH DOORS WILL OPERATE AS TO FRONT/REAR, DRIVER/PASSENGER SIDE AND/OR ONE, TWO, THREE, FOUR, OR ZERO DOORS LOCKING/UNLOCKING. THIS SITUATION IS EXTREMELY INCONVENIENT (PARTICULARLY WHEN RAINING), POTENTIALLY UNSAFE, AND PROBLEMATIC IN KEEPING YOUR VEHICLE AND ITS CONTENTS SECURE.

I HAVE A 2008 CHEVY IMPALA LT WITH 33,619 MILES ON IT. IT HAS THE GOODYEAR EAGLE LS2 TIRES IT CAME WITH WHEN I BOUGHT IT NEW IN 2008. I RECENTLY HAD A REAR LEAKY TIRE SO I TOOK IT TO A GARAGE AND THEY REPAIRED IT. WHILE IT WAS OFF THE RIM I NOTICED WHAT LOOKED TO ME TO BE VERY EXCESSIVE WEAR TO THE INSIDE SIDEWALL OF THE TIRE. IT WAS SO UNEVENLY WORN IT SHOCKED ME. I COULD SEE CORDS FROM THE BELTS IN SEVERAL SPOTS. THE MECHANIC AND I CHECKED THE OTHER REAR TIRE AND FOUND IT TO BE IN THE SAME CONDITION. HE ADVISED ME TO GET THEM REPLACED SOON AS POSSIBLE AND TO ROTATE THE TIRES MORE OFTEN. WE CHECKED THE FRONT TWO TIRES AND FOUND THEM TO HAVE NEARLY TWICE AS MUCH TREAD AND NO SIDEWALL DAMAGE THAT WE COULD SEE. TODAY I PURCHASED TWO NEW TIRES AND THE MECHANIC WHO INSTALLED THEM SUGGESTED I GET A REAR WHEEL ALIGNMENT AS THIS MAKE AND MODEL ARE NOTORIUS FOR REAR ALIGNMENT ISSUES.
