I HAVE A 2008 CHEVROLET IMPALA AND I AM HAVING A WHEEL ALIGNMENT PROBLEM MY TIRES ARE WEARING UNEVEN. THE CAR ONLY HAS 9830 MILES ON IT .I HAVE HAD A WHEEL ALIGNMENT DONE ON THE CAR AND A TIRE ROTATION DONE AT 8961 MILES . BUT THAT DID NOT HELP MY TIRES ARE STILL WEARING UNEVEN.ADVANTAGE CHEVROLET CHECKED THE CARS ALIGNMENT ON 7/25/2011 THEY SAID THAT THEY CAN NOT FIND A PROBLEM WITH THE CAR .MY TIRES ARE WEARING OUT IN 9000 MILES. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE IGNITION FAILED AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. IN ADDITION, THE IGNITION HAD BECOME STUCK AND PREVENTED THE VEHICLE FROM TURNING OFF. THE FAILURE OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY FOR THREE YEARS. THE DEALER REPAIRED THE VEHICLE, BUT THE DIAGNOSIS WAS UNKNOWN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 94,134.
I HAVE A 2008 CHEVY IMPALA, AT 23,000 MILES THE TIRES ARE BALD. I ROTATED THEM EVERY 5000 MILES. I BOUGHT THIS CAR BRAND NEW IN LATE 2007. FROM READING THE OTHER FORUMS ON LINE, IT'S NOT THE TIRES. IT'S THE REAR END ALIGNMENT FROM THE FACTORY. THIS TIRES ARE GOING TO COST $1,400.00 TO REPLACE AND I'M BEING TOLD THE NEW ONE'S WILL WEAR OUT JUST AS FAST AS THE OLD ONE'S. I SEE THERE'S A CLASS ACTION SUIT AGAINST GM FOR 2007 & 2008 IMPALA'S. THEY FIXED ALL THE IMPALA COP CARS BUT NOT THE GENERAL PUBLIC! *KB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED ON IT WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF THE PARK POSITION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DID NOT DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 50,000.
PURCHASED 2008 IMPALA SS FACTORY DEMO CAR WITH 3000 MILES AND AT 15000 MILES A REAR TIRE BLEW OUT AT 65 MILES AN HOUR AND ALMOST WRECKED US. REAR TIRES WERE WORE OUT ON INSIDE. DOWN TO THE CORD WHICH AT 15000 MILES SEEMED IMPOSSIBLE. REPLACED TIRES AND DEALER SAID ALIGNMENT WAS NOT THE PROBLEM BUT WAS NORMAL FOR THE MODEL CAR AND NOW AT 23000 MILES REAR TIRES ARE WORE OUT AGAIN ON INSIDE AND FRONT TIRES ARE THE ORIGINAL AND STILL LOOK NEW. WHY CAN'T THE DEALER REPAIR THE PROBLEM INSTEAD OF SELLING TIRES EVERY 10000 MILES? I THINK THEY JUST WANT THE EXTRA CASH FLOW DURING THIS TIME THE ECONOMY IS SLOW . *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A LOUD NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR TIRES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE SUSPENSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
MY 2008 CHEVROLET IMPALA REQUIRED ALIGNMENT OF ALL 4 WHEELS AFTER 35000 MILES OF USE WHICH IS NOT UNUSUAL. HOWEVER, THE REAR WHEELS REQUIRED A SPECIAL PROCESS WHEREIN BOLTS HAD TO BE PUNCHED OUT AND SHIMMING WAS REQUIRED TO ALLOW PROPER ALIGNMENT. THIS EFFORT DOUBLED MY COST FROM $89.00 TO $178.00. THE PROBLEM IS OBVIOUSLY A MANUFACTURING DEFECT. THE GENERAL MOTORS PROBLEMS AND COMPLAINTS DEPARTMENT HAS FAILED TO RESPOND TO MY COMPLAINT WHICH WAS SUBMITTED JULY 11TH, 2011. *TT
2008 CHEVY IMPALA (OWNED 8/10): 80K GOODYEAR TIRES WORE WITH LESS THAN 10K MILES REPLACED BY CERTIFIED TIRE CENTER 6/11 WITH UNIROYAL TP TOURING 70K, LEFT HUB WORN WITH LESS THAN 1 YEAR OWNERSHIP REPLACED BY DEALER, RIGHT HUB PLAY REFUSAL OF REPLACEMENT BY DEALERSHIP (ALSO 6/11). ALIGNMENTS OFF/ WILL NOT STAY--REPORTS AVAILABLE FROM DEALER AND CERTIFIED TIRE REPLACEMENT SHOP. WILL NOT GO IN FULL ALIGNMENT, MAY NEED CHAMBER KIT, SPINDLE OUT ON LEFT FRONT (ALSO 6/11). REAR PASSENGER DOOR LOCK (CAR SEAT SIDE), REPLACED BY DEALER 11/10, AT THIS TIME INABILITY TO MAINTAIN TIRE PRESSURE AND MISLOCATION OF SENSORS/PRESSURE INDICATORS WAS CORRECTED AS WELL AS ROTATION PER REPEATED COMPLAINT (11/10)---NOTE: WEAR SHOULD HAVE BEEN REPORTED/ DOCUMENTER PER MY COMPLAINT TO DEALER. FRONT PASSENGER DOOR LOCK GOING BAD ALSO, REPORTED TO DEALER 7/11. TIRES CONTINUING TO WEAR WITH ALIGNMENT SUSPENSION ISSUES PENDING, DEALERSHIP REFUSING RESPONSIBILITY OR DENYING ISSUE EXISTS. *TR
COULD NOT KEEP ALIGNMENT CORRECT. THREE SETS OF TIRES WERE RUINED BY 60,000 M. CONSEQUENCES WERE NOISE OF TIRES, THEN ALIGNMENT COSTS, AND REPLACEMENT OF EXPENSIVE TIRES. *TR
WE OWN A 2008 CHEVY IMPALA LTZ AND HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE BACK TIRES DUE TO EXCESSIVE WEAR. WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE USED WITH 18000 MILES ON IT AND THE TREAD WAS COMPLETELY WORE TO THE STEEL BELTS ON THE INSIDE 3 TREADS AT 24000 MILES ON IT. WE TOOK THE CAR IN FOR ITS SCHEDULED 6000 ROTATION ONLY TO DISCOVER THE TIRES WERE SHOT. THE DEALER WOULD NOT HONOR REPLACING THE TIRE AND MENTIONED NO REASONABLE SOLUTION. I HAVE RESEARCHED THE CAR THOROUGHLY AND HAVE DISCOVERED DISTURBING FACTS ABOUT THE IMPALAS SPINDLE RODS. THERE HAVE BEEN MANY DOCUMENTED CASES ACROSS THE COUNTRY WITH VERY SIMILAR PROBLEMS WITH THE 2007 AND 2008 IMPALAS. UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION, I FIND A CLASS ACTION SUIT HAS BEEN FILED AND GM HAS BEEN DRAGGING THEIR FEET. THEY RECALLED POLICE CARS, BUT NOT CARS BELONGING TO CITIZENS. ANY IMPALA THAT IS SHOWING COMMON WEAR SHOULD BE RECALLED. I CAN DEAL WITH A DEFECT, BUT MY FAMILY WAS AT RISK AS WE TRAVELED IN THE CAR TOGETHER 1200 MILES CROSS COUNTRY AND HAD NO IDEA ABOUT THE DEFECT. TIRES SHOULD NOT BE WORN TO THE STEEL AFTER LESS THAN 6000 MILES. GM IS PUTTING PEOPLE AT RISK. WHEN ARE THEY GOING TO SOLVE THIS PROBLEM AND MAKE THINGS RIGHT WITH THEIR PATRONS. *KB
MY FAMILY WAS TRAVELING TO A FUNERAL DRIVING A 2008 IMPALA AT 75MPH. TIRES WERE PROPERLY INFLATED AND VISUALLY CHECKED FOR WEAR BY GENERAL OBSERVATION.TIRES APPEARED TO HAVE PLENTY OF TREAD AND NO CUPPING. LEFT REAR TIRE DETONATED SENDING TIRE TREAD/BELTS/DEBRIS INTO WHEEL WELL AREA. THIS RIPPED FUEL FILLER ASSEMBLY LOOSE AND SENT IT BELOW CAR WHERE IT TRAILED WITH NO REMAINING FUEL CAP AND FRAYED SENSOR WIRES EXPOSED. CAR WAS BROUGHT TO A SAFE STOP BESIDE INTERSTATE. WHEN TRYING TO MAKE TEMPORARY REPAIRS IT WAS NOTICED THAT OPPOSITE REAR TIRE HAD WEAR DOWN TO STEEL BELTS ON INSIDE TWO INCHES. THE REMAINING TIRE APPEARED ALMOST NEW FROM EXTERIOR VIEW. IT WAS REPLACED ALONG WITH BLOWN TIRE AS THIS TIRE WAS JUST AS DEADLY. REPAIR BY INSURANCE EXCEEDED $4,000. CONTACTED CHEVROLET DEALER WHERE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED AND HAVE NOT RECEIVED A RESPONSE. I BELIEVE THIS IS A POTENTIALLY DEADLY SERVICE ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED SO THAT REPAIRS TO REAR SUSPENSION CAN BE MADE. MOST PEOPLE ARE DRIVING AROUND TOTALLY UNAWARE THAT THEIR TIRES ONLY APPEAR SAFE. UNLESS THE CAR IS PUT ON A LIFT RACK THE WEAR ISSUE IS NOT OBVIOUS TO THE AVERAGE AUTOMOBILE OWNER. *TR
I HAVE EXPERIENCE RAPID TREAD WEAR ON THE INSIDE OF MY REAR TIRES. LAST SET OF REAR TIRES WERE WORN DOWN TO THE STEEL AFTER APPROX. 18.000 MILES. CURRENT SET OF REAR TIRES HAVE APPROX. 12,000 MILES ON THEM AND ARE SHOWING SIGNIFICANT WEAR ON THE INSIDE. A DAY AGO I WAS DRIVING ON A RAIN COVERED INTERSTATE EARLY IN THE MORNING. THE REAR END OF THE CAR SWUNG OUT TO THE LEFT AND I LOST CONTROL AND SPUN AROUND 2 TIMES ENDING UP IN THE GRASSY MEDIAN. LUCKILY, NO ONE ELSE WAS NEAR ME WHEN THIS HAPPENED AND NO DAMAGE WAS DONE TO THE VEHICLE. CURRENTLY, I AM TRYING TO GET GM TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM WHICH I BELIEVE IS THE SAME PROBLEM THAT THE 2007-2008 POLICE VEHICLES WERE RECALLED FOR. *TT
2008 CHEVY IMPALA HAS PREMATURE LOSS OF TREAD ON BOTH REAR TIRES FRONT TIRES DO NOT SHOW ANY NOTICEABLE TREAD WEAR BUT REAR TIRES HAVE LOST ALL OF INBOARD TREAD. THIS IS A DEFECT IN EITHER THE WHEEL MOUNTING OR SUSPENSION SYSTEM CAUSING UNSAFE OPERATION OF THIS VEHICLE. *KB
REAR TIRE TREAD ON 2008 IMPALA SS HAVE WORN & BEEN REPLACED TWICE, ONLY 33400 MILES ON CAR. SPINDLE RODS ARE DEFECTIVE AND ITS UNSAFE TO DRIVE BECAUSE TIRES COULD BLOW OUT AND PEOPLE COULD BE INJURED BADLY. MANUFACTURER DID A RECALL FOR ALL POLICE IMPALA BUT DID NOTHING FOR THE CONSUMER. *TR
ALL 4 DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR HAVE GONE OUT, WITHIN A MONTH OF EACH OTHER, WAS TOLD THAT THIS WAS CAUSED BY WEAR AND TEAR OF THE VEHICLE, AFTER 3 YEARS THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN, AFTER DEALING WITH GM FOR OVER A WEEK, THEY ARE WILLING TO PAY FOR HALF. BUT COME ON WHY SHOULD I GIVE THEM 450$ TO REPAIR FAULTY EQUIPMENT WHICH ARE A SAFETY CONCERN, MY CHILD SAFETY LOCKS DO NOT WORK, I CAN NOT LOCK MY CAR WHEN I GO IN PLACES FOR FEAR OF NOT BEING ABLE TO GET IN, THESE DOORS WERE NOT MISTREATED TO CAUSE THIS AND AFTER RESEARCHING THIS THIS IS A KNOWN COMMON PROBLEM, I WAS EVEN TOLD THIS BY A GM CUSTOMER SERVICE SPECIALIST, THIS SHOULD NOT BE AT THE OWNERS EXPENSE WARRANTY OR NOT, I DO NOT HAVE THE MONEY TO FIX THIS SO I HAVE TO PRAY THAT NOTHING HAPPENS TO MY KIDS WHILE I HAVE TO DEAL WITH THIS ISSUE. *TT
EXCESSIVE REAR TIRE WEAR, REAR SPINDLE, KNOWN PROBLEM THAT GM SHOULD RECALL. GM REPAIRED SAME KNOWN PROBLEM WITH POLICE VEHICLES, SAME REPAIR NEEDS DONE TO ALL VEHICLES. REAR TIRES ARE WEARING OUT VERY AGGRESSIVELY ON THE OUTSIDE EDGES OF REAR TIRES. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR LOCK FAILED. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THE DOOR ACTUATOR PART#20790495 NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE REPAIRS COST WAS $300 AND THE DEALER AGREED TO PAY HALF. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND ONLY ADVISED HER TO FILE A COMPLAINT WITH NHTSA. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 51,000.
POWER DOOR LOCKS STOPPED WORKING. I CAN OPEN THE DRIVERS DOOR WITH THE KEY, BUT THE OTHER POWER LOCKS DO NOT OPEN. IT STARTED WITH THE REAR LOCKS AND NOW INCLUDES ALL LOCKS. THIS IS DANGEROUS BECAUSE WE CARRY OUR SMALL GRANDCHILDREN IN THEIR CAR SEATS IN THE BACK. THE ONLY WAY TO UNLOCK THE DOORS IS TO ROLL DOWN THE POWER WINDOW AND REACH IN TO UNLOCK. I HAVE DISCUSSED THIS WITH CHEVROLET BUT THEY SAY THEY HAVE NO REPORTS OF OTHERS HAVING THIS PROBLEM. THIS IS HARD TO BELIEVE SINCE THERE ARE SO MANY REPORTS OF THIS ON THE INTERNET FORUMS. I BELIEVE THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. IN AN ACCIDENT, THE REAR WINDOWS MAY NOT FUNCTION AND WE WOULD HAVE TO BREAK OUT THE REAR WINDOWS TO FREE OUR GRANDCHILDREN. *TR
I WAS AT A STOP SIGN, WHEN I WENT TO PULL ONTO THE HIGHWAY, THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPED AND HESITATED! I TOOK IT TO GM DEALER AND WAS TOLD THEY COULD FIND NO PROBLEM WITH IT! IT WOULD ACTUALLY HAVE TO GO BAD BEFORE THEY COULD DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT! NOW I HAVE 68000 MILES ON IT, AND THE PROBLEM HAPPENS DAILY! TWO DAYS AGO, WHEN PULLING ON TO THE HIGHWAY, IT HESITATED AGAIN, BUT THIS TIME THERE WAS A SEMI COMING! LUCKILY IT FINALLY TOOK HOLD AND I COULD PROCEED! I SAW ON THE INTERNET, THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM FOR THIS VEHICLE!! WHY, DOESN'T GM FIX IT?? ALSO, I HAVE HAD MY CAR IN FOR ENGINE PROBLEMS, THEY HAVE REMOVED THE ENGINE FROM THE CAR, AND "DECARBONED THE CYLINDER"! NOW ABOUT 30000 MILES LATER IT HAS THE SAME PROBLEM AGAIN! *TR
I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE MY WHEELS AT LEAST EVERY 6-8 MONTHS. THE WHEELS ARE WEARING ON THE INSIDE IN THE REAR. I HAVE HAD TO HAVE A FULL ALIGNMENT DONE MORE THAN ONCE. I RESEARCHED ONLINE AND THE PROBLEM WAS RECOGNIZED AND FIXED BUT ONLY IN POLICE VEHICLES NOT IN CIVILIAN VEHICLES! I HAVE SPENT A LOT OF MONEY ON TIRES AND ALIGNMENTS! THIS IS AN ONGOING ISSUE. NOT A ONE-TIME ISSUE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO REPAIR THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP AND THE DOOR LATCHES AND MOTORS WERE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000.
PURCHASED VEHICLE USED JUNE 2010, NOTED AFTER BUYING REAR TIRES WERE 2 DIFFERENT TIRES, & DIFFERENT FROM FRONT TIRES. PURCHASED 2 MATCHING TIRES TO PRESENT FRONT TIRES, GOODYEAR EAGLE P225/55 R17. PUT FRONT TIRES ON REAR, NEW ON FRONT. NOTED SIGNIFICANT INSIDE WEAR BOTH REAR TIRES, MAY 2011. HAVE PUT ON APPROXIMATELY 15,000 MILES IN THIS TIME. I DRIVE APPROXIMATELY 53 MILES EVERY WORKDAY. READ ARTICLE IN PAPER, JULY 6TH 2011 BY DEE-ANN DURBIN ASSOCIATED PRESS, DESCRIBING LAWSUIT OVER THIS ISSUE, DEFECTIVE SPINDLE RODS, REPLACED ON 23,800 POLICE VEHICLES BY GM, NOT ON REST OF 2007-2008 IMPALA'S. BELIEVE RECALL SHOULD BE ENFORCED FOR ALL CITIZEN'S FAIRLY, BY GM, OBVIOUSLY THEIR IS A PROBLEM, OR GM WOULD NOT HAVE REPLACED PART FOR POLICE CRUISER'S. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ONLY DOOR THAT WOULD LOCK WAS THE FRONT DRIVER'S DOOR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN THE DEALER. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE DOOR ACTUATORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 113,000.
AFTER PARKING A 2008 IMPALA ON A FLAT CONCRETE SURFACE I TOOK THE LUG NUTS OFF THE PASSENGER SIDE FRONT TIRE . I THEN PLACED THE JACK (WHICH HAD NEVER BEEN USED BEFORE EVER ) UNDER THE PROPER FITTING POINTS AS SHOWN IN THE MANUAL BEHIND THE FRONT WHEEL. AND JACKED THE CAR UP UNTIL THE TIRE COULD BE REMOVED FROM THE CAR. AFTER THE TIRE WAS COMPLETELY OFF I WAS VISUALLY INSPECTING THE BRAKE PADS BUT NOT TOUCHING IT WHEN THE JACK BEGAN TO BREAK OFF FROM THE BASE. AS I MOVED AWAY TO PROTECT MYSELF THE JACK COMPLETELY BROKE AWAY FROM THE BASE AND THE CAR LANDED ON THE GROUND, BROKEN JACK AND ROTOR . I THEN CALLED AAA WHO TOOK A 3 TON JACK AND INSERTED IT UNDER THE FRONT OF THE CAR AND JACKED IT UP ENOUGH TO PUT THE TIRE BACK ON . NEVER IN MY LIFE HAVE I SEEN THIS HAPPEN BEFORE AND I HAVE CHANGED THE TIRES ON MANY CARS AND TRUCKS. I AM TAKING IT TO THE DEALERSHIP TOMORROW WHO WILL BE INSPECTING MY CAR AND HOPEFULLY REPLACING THE JACK. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS, WHERE THEY STATED THAT THE REAR SPINDLE RODS WERE FAULTY AND CAUSED THE TIRES TO PREMATURELY WEAR. THE FAULTY REAR SPINDLE RODS ALSO CONTRIBUTED TO THE MISALIGNMENT OF THE VEHICLE. A SET OF FOUR TIRES WERE PREVIOUSLY REPLACED ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS DUE TO THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT PLANNED TO HAVE THE VEHICLE REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 16,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
TRANSMISSION SLIPS, ROLLS BACKWARDS WHEN ACCELERATING UPHILL, VIBRATION WHEN ACCELERATING FROM STOP, GRINDING/ RATTLING NOISE FROM TRANSMISSION. *TR
USING FOB OR LOCK/UNLOCK BUTTONS, THE DOOR LOCKS RANDOMLY DO NOT LOCK OR UNLOCK. IT WAS CHECKED, BUT NO SOLUTION OFFERED. WITH THE BACK DOOR LOCKS BEING AT THE BACK OF THE DOOR, THIS IS A MAJOR INCONVENIENCE AND CAN BE A SAFETY HAZARD FOR ELDERLY AND DISABLED INDIVIDUALS. IT IS ALSO A SAFETY ISSUE WHEN YOU ASSUME THE DOORS ARE LOCKED (OR UNLOCKED), BUT THEY AREN'T. HE THEN LET IT SLIP THAT A MODIFICATION OF THE STRUTS WAS NECESSARY TO ACHIEVE PROPER ALIGNMENT OF THE REAR AND THAT GM WOULD NOT COVER IT. THEY WILL HOWEVER REPAIR POLICE IMPALAS AT NO CHARGE. I DECLINED TO PAY ONLY TO BE TOLD I WOULD HAVE TO COVER THE COST OF REPAIR ANYWAY, KIND OF LIKE ADDING INSULT TO INJURY. IT MAKES A LOUD KNOCKING SOUND UNDER THE DASH WHETHER THE CAR IS RUNNING OR NOT. IT ALSO HAPPENS WHEN I'M DRIVING. I HAVE CALLED CHEVY SO MANY TIMES, I REMEMBERED THE SCRIPT THEY READ TO YOU. THEY NEVER HELPED. IT IS A $200 REPAIR BILL EVERY TIME IT IS REPAIRED. I TRIED TO LET IT BURN ITSELF OUT AND IT LASTED OVER A YEAR. I WAS TOLD BY A MECHANIC THAT IT IS A PROBLEM ON 2004-2008 IMPALAS BUT THEY NEVER RECALLED IT. IT ALSO CAUSES THE AIR TO BLOW COLD IN THE WINTER. WHY WASN'T A RECALL DONE ON THESE VEHICLES.

ON THIS SAME DAY, I DROVE HOME 70 MILES FROM THIS DESTINATION, THE RAIN CONTINUED AND I HAD DRIVEN ABOUT 30 MILES WHEN THE STEERING LOCKED FOR A FEW SECONDS AFTER I CROSSED A RAILROAD TRACK AND TURNED ONTO A RESIDENTIAL STREET. SINCE THEN, WE HAVE HAD AT LEAST ONE IF NOT MORE INCIDENTS OF THE STEERING LOCKING UP EACH TIME IT RAINS. CONTACTED THE LOCAL CHEVY DEALER AND WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT THAT IT IS A TIRE PROBLEM WITH THE GOOD YEAR EAGLE RS-A P235/50 R 18 AND THEY HAVE HAD A LOT OF COMPLAINTS ON NO TRACTION WITH THESE TIRES. SERVICE REP STATED THE TIRES NEEDED TO BE TAKEN OFF AND NEW TIRES PUT ON. NOT COVERED BY THE WARRANTY. CALLED GOOD YEAR CUSTOMER SERVICE TOLD THEM THE PROBLEM AND THEY SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT FOR ME. TOOK IT TO THE AUTHORIZED GOOD YEAR DEALER AND THEY CALLED BACK AND SAID THE TIRES HAVE HALF THEIR TREAD LEFT AND NO PROBLEMS WITH THE TIRES. HE STATED THAT THE TIRE IS TO WIDE FOR DRIVING IN THE WINTER TIME AND BASICALLY FLOATS ON THE ICE AND SNOW AND WOULD SUGGEST ONLY DIVING THE CAR IN THE SUMMER MONTHS. SO HERE IS THE DILEMMA, THE MANUFACTURE KNOWS THAT THEY HAVE HAD A LOT OF COMPLAINTS WITH THE TIRES (WHICH ARE THE ORIGINAL TIRES THAT ARE SOLD WITH THE CAR. THE TIRE MANUFACTURE STATES THE TIRE IS TO WIDE FOR DRIVING ON SNOW OR ICE AND I NEED TO PARK IT INTO SUMMER GETS HERE AND IF SO IF I DRIVE THE CAR IN THE WINTER, I HAVE BEEN WARNED THAT IT IS TOO DANGEROUS TO DRIVE.
WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, THEN THE SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL DEVICES CAME ON AND IMMEDIATELY AFTERWARDS, THERE WAS A REDUCTION IN ENGINE POWER AND THE CAR SLOWED CONSIDERABLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALERSHIP AND WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A FAILED THROTTLE BODY. THE THROTTLE BODY WAS REPLACED AND THERE HAS BEEN NO PROBLEMS SINCE. THE FAILURE WAS AT 51757 MILES AND WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY RESULTING IN A $400 BILL THAT THE MANUFACTURER WOULD NOT COVER. *TR
THE ROADS WERE SNOWY AND PARTS OF IT ICY, BUT IT WASN'T SNOWING. FROM A FAR DISTANCE I STARTED TO SLOWLY BRAKE SO I WON'T SKID. WHEN I APPLIED A BIT MORE PRESSURE TO BRAKE THE CAR MORE, THE PEDAL HIT AGAINST MY FOOT AND WOULDN'T GO DOWN WHEN I TRIED TO FORCE IT. I THINK THE ABS CAME ON BUT IT DID NOT SLOW MY CAR DOWN AT ALL. THE CAR WAS STILL GOING AT THE SPEED I SLOWED IT IN EARLIER BUT MADE NO CHANGE. THERE WAS A LINE OF CARS AHEAD OF ME IN FRONT OF AN INTERSECTION, SO I PANICKED AND PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND TURNED OFF THE ENGINE. THE CAR FINALLY STOPPED ABOUT 4 FEET AWAY FROM THE CAR IN FRONT OF MINE.
