THE DEALER ADVISED HAVING AN ALIGNMENT ANNUALLY AND ROTATING THE TIRES EVERY 6,000 MILES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED AND THERE WERE NO REPAIRS MADE TO THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 31,900.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE HE COULD HEAR AN ABNORMAL TICKING NOISE. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED FOUR TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE AIR CONDITIONER ACTUATOR WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE WHO DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 95,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE HAVING ROUTINE MAINTENANCE PERFORMED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, THE MECHANIC STATED THAT BOTH REAR TIRES EXHIBITED EXCESSIVE WEAR. THE MECHANIC REPLACED BOTH REAR TIRES AND PERFORMED AN ALIGNMENT. APPROXIMATELY 7,000 MILES AFTER THE REPLACEMENT OF THE TIRES, THE CONTACT NOTICED EXCESSIVE WEAR ON BOTH REAR TIRES AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE MECHANIC, WHERE BOTH REAR TIRES WERE REPLACED AND ALIGNED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ADDRESSING THE FAILURE, BUT THE RECALL ONLY INCLUDED POLICE ISSUED VEHICLES. I OWN A 2008 WITH LESS THAN 50,000 MILES ON IT AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I HAD IT DIAGNOSED AND WAS TOLD IT IS THE SECONDARY AIR INJECTION SYSTEM (DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE P2444) WHICH CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO FAIL THE EMISSIONS TEST. THE DEALERSHIP REFUSES TO REPAIR IT AND STATES THE WARRANTY IS ONLY VALID FOR 3 YEARS OR 30,000 MILES. I CANNOT GET THE VEHICLE INSPECTED UNTIL THE PROBLEM IS FIXED AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT GOES OFF. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED THAT A CAR ONLY 2 YEARS OLD CAN HAVE SUCH A MAJOR PROBLEM IN SUCH A SHORT AMOUNT OF TIME. THE REPAIRS WILL COST $1600 TO $2000 BECAUSE IT IS AN INTERNAL PROBLEM WITH THE ENGINE. I TRIED TO GET THE CODE RESET ONLY TO HAVE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COME BACK ON. *TR
2008 IMPALA HAS BAD GAS PEDAL WHILE YOU ARE DRIVING THE TRACTION LIGHT AND ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON YOU LOSE A LOT OF THE ENGINE POWER UNTIL THE TRACTION LIGHT GOES OFF THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS. I CALLED GMC AND TOOK IT TO A DEALER THEY PUT IT ON THE MACHINE FIRST I WAS TOLD IT WAS SENSOR IN THE PEDAL. NEXT I WAS TOLD IT WAS THE WIRING HARNESS. BY THE SAME DEALER NOW I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO I THINK SOMETHING DANGEROUS SHOULD BE FIXED BY THE DEALER BUT THEY SAY IT IS NOT COVERED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET IMPALA. WHILE THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH , SHE BEGAN REDUCING SPEED AS SHE APPROACHED A STOP SIGNAL. THE "CHECK TRACTION CONTROL" AND THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT INDICATORS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT STATED THERE WAS A SIGNIFICANT REDUCTION IN THE ENGINE POWER TO THE POINT OF ALMOST STALLING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FAILURE WAS CONTRIBUTED TO THE ADS SENSOR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE HAD CONTINUED TO OCCUR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN A SECOND TIME TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC TESTING WHICH INDICATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS RELATED TO THE WIRING HARNESS AND NOT THE ADS SENSOR. INSIDE REAR TIRES ON '08 IMPALA SS ARE WORN DOWN TO THE THREADS. EXTREME SAFELY ISSUE SINCE THIS IS NOT SOMETHING YOU WOULD USUALLY NOTICE UNLESS IT'S UP ON A LIFT. DOES SOMEONE REALLY NEED TO GET IN A CRASH AND GET KILLED OR KILL SOMEONE BEFORE THIS IS A RECALL? *TR
I HAVE A 2008 CHEVROLET IMPALA THAT HAS 40,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. I WILL NOW BE PUTTING A 3RD SET OF TIRES ON THE CAR AS WELL AS GETTING THE FRONT END ALIGNED ONCE AGAIN. THE CAR WEARS THE TIRES ON THE FRONT INNER AND OUTER SIDES. THE MIDDLE OF THE TIRE LOOKS NEW. THE CAR HANDLES HORRIBLY IN WET CONDITIONS AS WELL. *TR
OVERHEATING AND DANGEROUS, QUICK PULSATION OF BRAKE ROTORS ON MY 2008 CHEVROLET HAS ALWAYS BEEN A CONSTANT AND STRESSFUL EXPERIENCE WHEN DRIVING IN HILLY, MOUNTAINOUS COUNTRY. I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH A 2001 IMPALA. GM HAS GOT TO ADDRESS THIS INHERENT WEAKNESS IN THE IMPALA'S BRAKING SYSTEM. *TR
I TOO AM VERY UPSET WITH THE ISSUE WITH THE DOOR LOCK ISSUE. THE BACK PASSENGER DRIVERS SIDE DOOR DOES NOT UNLOCK WITH THE FOB OR THE DOOR UNLOCK CONTROL. THE ONLY WAY TO PHYSICALLY UNLOCK THE DOOR IS TO RECLINE THE DRIVERS SEAT AND REACH BACK AND UNLOCK THE DOOR MANUALLY. IN THE EVENT OF AN EMERGENCY THIS IS B.S. I HAVE DONE MUCH RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET ON THIS SUBJECT AND WAS OVERWHELMED BY THE NUMBER OF OTHER PEOPLE WITH THE SAME ISSUE. THIS IS SO DISTURBING! SEVERE INNER TIRE WEAR ON BOTH REAR TIRES AT AROUND 47K MILES. THE WIRE INSIDE THE TIRES WAS SHOWING AND IT WAS UNNOTICEABLE JUST LOOKING AT THE CAR. I DIDN'T REALIZE THE TIRES WERE BAD UNTIL THE REAR DRIVER TIRE WENT COMPLETELY FLAT WITHOUT WARNING. *TR
ON 2008 CHEVY IMPALA, THE INSIDES OF ALL FOUR TIRES WERE WORN TO THE CORD. THE TIRES HAD BEEN ROTATED REGULARLY. THE CAR WAS RETURNED TO THE DEALER WHO CLAIMED THE TIRES HAD NOT BEEN ROTATED AND THAT HE HAD NEVER HEARD OF ANY DEFECT.. WE PRINTED INFORMATION FROM THIS WEBSITE SHOWING THAT THIS PROBLEM HAD BEEN REPORTED SEVERAL TIMES. THE DEALER STILL DENIED ANY DEFECT EVEN THOUGH ONE OF THE WORKERS SAID HE HAD REPLACED TIRES WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR
EVERY TIME I WOULD DRIVE THE 08 CHEVY IMPALA THE KEY WOULD NOT TURN ALL THE WAY OUT. IT DID THAT FOR ABOUT A WEEK. THEN WHEN I MADE IT TO WORK IT DID THE SAME THING. CAME OUT TO GO HOME IT WOULD NOT START AT ALL THE KEY WOULDN'T TURN OVER. SO WE HAD TO PUT IT IN MANUAL MODE TO DRIVE IT TO A SHOP. A WIRE IN THE HANDLE TO CHANGE GEARS BROKE BECAUSE I WAS TOLD THE WIRE WAS TO SHORT. NOW THIS WAS 42 OR 43 THOUSAND MILES NOW AT 82 ITS DOING THE SAME THING AGAIN. WHY NO RECALL? *TR
HIT A DEER ON THE RIGHT PASSENGER FENDER AND THE CAR SHUT DOWN, STEERING WHEEL LOCKED, SPUN AND UNABLE TO CONTROL CAR, WAS UNABLE TO MOVE CAR, STALLED ON HIGHWAY FOR 1 HOUR. CAR ENGINE STARTED BUT UNABLE TO MOVE. ALMOST HIT A TRUCK IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION, DUE TO INABILITY TO STOP AND USE STEERING WHEEL. *TR
2008 IMPALA LTZ THAT I PURCHASED FROM BILL CRAMER MOTORS IN DONALSONVILLE, GEORGIA ON 10/29/2009. ON 2/6/2010 I HAD A TIRE BLOW OUT IN BAINBRIDGE, GEORGIA NEARLY CAUSING A CRASH. AFTER CHANGING MY TIRE, AND RETURNING HOME I DISCOVERED THAT BOTH REAR TIRES WERE WORN DOWN TO THE BELT ON THE INSIDE. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH ON THIS ISSUE, I DISCOVERED THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON ISSUE IN THE LATE MODEL IMPALA'S. I CALLED THE SHOP TODAY (2/8/2010), AND THEY ADVISED ME THAT THEY ARE UNAWARE OF THIS ISSUE. I ALSO CALLED SOLOMON CHEVROLET IN DOTHAN, ALABAMA (1-866-646-6175). THEY ADVISED ME THAT THEY ARE VERY FAMILIAR WITH THIS ISSUE, AND THAT IT NEEDED A REAR CAMBER BOLT KIT AND A REALIGNMENT TO FIX THIS ISSUE. THE PARTS AND LABOR FOR THE KIT WERE ESTIMATED @ $200.00 AND THE ALIGNMENT @ $70.00. I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO NOTE THAT MY CAR IS STILL UNDER THE 12,000 MILE CERTIFIED WARRANTY. MY CAR HAD 34,861 MILE ON IT WHEN I PURCHASED IT, AND NOW IT ONLY HAS 45,690 MILES ON IT. SO I HAVE PUT A TOTAL OF 10,829 MILES ON IT. THE TIRES THAT ARE ON MY CAR WERE BRAND NEW WHEN I PURCHASED IT. THERE IS NO WAY POSSIBLE THAT I SHOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACING 2 WORN OUT TIRES WITHIN 10,829 MILES'. THIS IS UNHEARD OF' *TR
EXCESSIVE WEAR ON MY REAR TIRES. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THE SUSPENSION IS FAULTY AND THAT EXCESSIVE REPAIR WORK HAD TO BE DONE TO REMEDY THIS. I HAD TO CALL AAA ON ONE OCCASSION BECAUSE ONE OF MY REAR TIRES BLEW OUT BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM. NO INJURIES AND I WAS LUCKY THAT I WAS DRIVING IN THE CITY WHEN THIS HAPPENED. ON THE HIGHWAY, I COULD HAVE CAUSE GREAT DAMAGE TO MYSELF AND POSSIBLY TO OTHERS AROUND ME. MY CAR BURNS THRU OIL SO SUPER FAST. IT BURNS A QUART OF OIL APPROXIMATELY EVERY 750 MILES. *TR

NEEDED 4 NEW TIRES & CAM BOLTS ON 3 WHEELS DUE TO EXCESSIVE WEAR (DOWN TO THREAD) AFTER ONLY 22,348 MILES. I WAS (AT FIRST) TOLD IT WAS BECAUSE MOST OF MY DRIVING WAS AROUND TOWN & THAT I MADE A LOT OF TURNS! TIRES HAD BEEN ROTATED REGULARLY SINCE 2008...DLR. NEVER MENTIONED KNOWN PROBLEM W/CAMBER. (MECHANIC SAID HE SEES ALL THE TIME FOR THIS MAKE/MODEL.) SAW THAT THIS MODEL WAS RECALLED FOR POLICE DEPT. PURCHASERS BUT NOT FOR THE REST OF US. MY LAST CHEVY! *TR

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED AND ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE, THE CONTACT NOTICED A DELAY IN UPSHIFTING OR DOWNSHIFTING BEFORE THE VEHICLE WOULD ACTUALLY ACCELERATE. BOTH THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE PROBLEM WAS NORMAL. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 16,000. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 12,000.
2008 CHEVEROLET IMPALA - 3 WHEEL BEARING PUT ON IN LESS THAN 1 YEAR ON FRONT PASSENGER SIDE. THIS WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A CERTIFIED GUARANTEED CAR, BUT IMMEDIATELY AFTER PURCHASING, TOOK TO MY MECHANIC AND WOULD NOT EVEN PASS INSPECTION. WHEEL BEARING BAD. STATE LINE AUTO IN ANDOVER OHIO WIL NOT EVEN ENTERAIN FIXING IT FOR THE 3RD TIME. *TR
CAR HAS NO TRACTION. THE LEAST BIT OF SNOW AND I CAN NOT EVEN GET OUT OF MY OWN DRIVEWAY. THE CAR SLIDES LEFT AND RIGHT NO MATTER THE AMOUNT OF SNOW. TIRES SPIN WITH ONLY A SLIGHT COVERING OF SNOW ON THE ROAD. TIRES SPIN WHEN THERE IS ONLY WET PAVEMENT. *TR

THE DEALER REPLACED THE FRONT WHEEL BARRING, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 24,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 44,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND THE DEALER STATED THAT THE REAR TIE ROD WAS DEFECTIVE. AS A RESULT, THE BRAKES, ROTORS AND TIRES WERE WEARING PREMATURELY. THE DEALER REPLACED THE TIE ROD AND ALL OF THE COMPONENTS WHICH WERE WEARING PREMATURELY, BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 75,000.
EARLY MORNING START /DROVE FOR APPROXIMATELY 4-8 MINUTES. TURNED INTO PARKING LOT AND WAS ATTEMPTING TO PARK (3/4 TURN) WHEN THE STEERING FROZE. STOPPED THE CAR AND THE STEERING SEEMED TO RETURN. PARKED CAR AND ROTATED WHEEL LEFT TO RIGHT AND NOTICED THAT THE WHEEL FROZE ONCE AGAIN. TURNED CAR OFF AND NO CONTINUED ISSUE ON RESTART. IMMEDIATELY BROUGHT CAR TO DEALERSHIP AND AWAITING A DECISION ON WHAT OCCURRED. DO NOT FEEL COMFORTABLE DRIVING VEHICLE UNTIL DEALER CAN REPAIR ISSUE. *TR
THERE WAS NO INCIDENT. THE REAR TIRES WEAR OUT PREMATURELY DUE TO GM'S AKNOWLEDGED REAR SPINDLE ROD DEFECT. EXCESSIVE WEAR ON THE TIRES CREATES A SAFETY HAZARD WITHIN A FEW THOUSAND MILES. GM DEALER (GRAFF CHEVROLET OKEMOS MICHIGAN) REFUSED TO REPAIR EVEN AT MY EXPENSE.
I PURCHASED 2008 CHEVY IMPALA WITH 22000 MILES ON IT AT NORMAN FREDE IN CLEAR LAKE/HOUSTON AREA. AFTER 6MONTHS THEY SUGGESTED TIRE ROTATION WAS NEEDED AND DUE AFTER ROTATION I NOTICED CAR SHAKING BETWEEN 20 TO 30MPH AND ABOVE 65MPH I TOOK IT IN AND IT WAS ALIGNED AND I WAS CHARGED 2MONTHS LATER STILL SHAKING WAS REALIGNED AT NO CHARGE BUT BEFORE THAT I HAD A NAIL IN ONE OF BACK TIRES AND I HAD IT REPAIRED BY A TIRE SHOP AND THEY WERE SHOCKED TO SEE MY 4 TIRES WERE WORN AND THEY SHOWED ME, I WAS SO UPSET I TOOK CAR IN AGAIN AND THEYSAID BECAUSE I HAD 36,000 MILES ON IT WAS THE REASON. WELL I TOOK IT IN AGAIN AND THEY TOLD ME STRUT NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED THAT'S WHY MY TIRES WERE ALL WORN AND WANTED TO CHARGE ME $150 TO REPAIR STRUT AND $400 PLUS FOR TIRES AND I SAID "NO" WHY SHOULD I HAVE TO PAY I HADN'T EVEN HAD THE CAR FOR A YEAR AND THIS WAS HAPPENING, I WAS UPSET AND LEFT BUT BEFORE I LEFT THEY REALIGNED IT AGAIN AND IN MY SERVICE TICKET THEY DID NOT EVEN MENTION THE STRUT REPAIR. I TRIED TO CONTACT THE SERVICE MANAGER BY EMAIL AND THE GENERAL MANAGER, I RETURNED THE SERV MGR CALL TWICE BUT KEPT MISSING HER AND THE GEN MGR NEVER CALLED OR EMAILED ME. I FEEL THAT THIS IS A CERTIFIED CAR AND I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO DRIVE LIKE THIS OR PAY FOR ANY REPAIRS. PLEASE WHAT CAN I DO. *TR

2008 CHEVY IMPALA WAS SHIPPED FROM THE FACTORY UNALIGNED CAUSING PREMATURE TIRE WEAR. THERE MAY BE A CAMBER RELATED ISSUE CAUSING PREMATURE WEAR ON THE INNER EDGE OF THE REAR TIRES. PROBLEMS START AT ABOUT 10,000 MILES. I REPLACED THE REAR TIRES TWICE IN ONE YEAR. *TR
POWER STEERING FAILS TEMPORARILY WHEN GOING THRU SMALL AMOUNT OF SPLASHING WATER. CAR WAS INSPECTED, BELT & TENSION PULLEY REPLACED. FAILURE LASTS APPROX. 20-30 SECONDS.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT MADE A LEFT TURN WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO MOVE THE VEHICLE OUT OF THE STREET. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHO TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE 74 MILES AND WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE ALSO OCCURRED WHILE PULLING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO OCCUR WHEN SHE APPLIED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AFTER YIELDING OR STOPPING AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT. THE VEHICLE WAS ALWAYS TRAVELING AT A LOW SPEED AND MAKING A LEFT TURN WHENEVER THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45946. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 50993.

THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL AUTO PARTS STORE WHERE THEY ADVISED THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE BATTERY. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE REAR-DEFROSTER WAS INOPERABLE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE OR LOCATE A FAILURE WITHIN THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
STARTED HAVING ISSUES WITH MY 2008 CHEVY IMPALA WITH WHAT I THOUGHT WAS A TIRE BALANCE PROBLEM. DID REQUIRED TIRE ROTATION AS RECOMMENDED AT 6000, 10,000 AND THEN AGAIN AT 13,500. DEALER SAID TIRES MAY BE OUT OF ROUND AND SUGGESTED ROAD FORCE BALANCING AT 16,500 MILES. THIS DID NOT CHANGE THE ISSUE, SO WENT TO GOODYEAR DEALER AND FOUND OUT THAT THE INSIDE 2 INCHES OF ALL FOUR TIRES WERE WEARING EXCESSIVELY WITH THE REAR TWO LESS THAT 2/32 INCHES OF TREAD LEFT. GOODYEAR SHOT THE ALIGNMENT AND SHOWED THAT THE ALIGNMENT WAS WAY OFF AND TIRES COULD NOT BE WARRANTED WITH AN ALIGNMENT ISSUE. TOOK BACK TO CHEVY DEALER TO INFORM THEM OF THE ALIGNMENT ISSUE. THEY SAID ALIGNMENT WAS NOT WARRANTED AFTER 7,500 MILES AND ALSO WOULD NOT REPLACE THE 4 TIRES. I DID GET THE DEALER TO GRATUITOUSLY DO A 4 WHEEL ALIGNMENT THAT ALSO SHOWED THE CAMBER AND TOE, ESPECIALLY IN THE REAR WAS "OUT OF TOLERANCE AND EXCEEDED CROSS-TOLERANCE" ON THEIR MACHINE AS WELL. THE CAMBER COULD NOT BE ADJUSTED WITHOUT EXTRA WORK (ELONGATING THE BOLT HOLES OR A CHAMBER ALIGNMENT KIT). CONTACTED GM COMPLAINT LINE FOR RESOLUTION TO NO AVAIL, SAYING I HAD TO PROVE THAT THERE IS A DEFECT ON THE VEHICLE. THIS IS AN INHERENT SAFETY PROBLEM WITH 2007 AND 2008 IMPALAS THAT HAS FOSTERED NUMEROUS COMPLAINT TO YOU INCLUDING 5 ALREADY THIS YEAR. GM ISSUED A TSB #08032 FOR POLICE IMPALAS THAT ARE ON THE SAME PLATFORM AND SUSPENSION, BUT NEVER EXTENDED THAT TO THE PUBLIC. SEEMS TO ME THAT THE REAR SUSPENSION HAS AN SEVERE DEFECT THAT CAN CAUSE TIRE BLOWOUT WITHOUT WARNING. NO TIRES SHOULD WEAR LIKE THAT WITH LESS THAN 17,000 MILES WITHOUT A REAR SUSPENSION AND ALIGNMENT PROBLEM THAT NEEDS TO BE RECALLED FOR REPAIR AND REPLACEMENT OF THE PARTS AND TIRES. I SAW AT LEAST 12 COMPLAINTS IN THE FIRST 24 PAGES OF 2007 IMPALA COMPLAINTS TO THE ODI. PLEASE INVESTIGATE THIS PROBLEM BEFORE SOMEONE IS SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED AS A RESULT OF THIS CONTINUING IMPALA ISSUE. *TR
REAR TIRES HAD EXTREME EXCESSIVE WEAR ON INSIDE IN SHORT AMOUNT OF TIME. THESE WERE NEW TIRES. NO WARNINGS. TIRE WAS WORN IN SUCH A SHORT AMOUNT OF TIME IF I HAD NOT BEEN LOOKING AT SOMETHING IN DRIVEWAY IT WAS ON THE VERGE OF A BLOWOUT. I OWN A 2008 CHEVY IMPALA AND HAVE HAD EXTENSIVE WORK DONE ON THE CAR TO REPAIR THE ALIGNMENT OF MY REAR TIRES. I FIRST NOTICED THE ISSUE WHEN AFTER ROUGHLY 7000 MILES I TOOK MY CAR IN TO HAVE THE TIRES ROTATED AND I WAS INFORMED THAT MY REAR TIRES HAD THE STEEL BELTS SHOWING. THIS WAS A SHOCK BECAUSE I HAD PURCHASED 80000 MILE TIRES. I THEN TOOK MY CAR TO MY LOCAL MECHANIC WHO FIXED THE PROBLEM TO THE BEST OF HIS ABILITY AND THIS PLUS THE COST OF THE TIRE RAN ME ROUGHLY 1000 DOLLARS. PRIOR TO ME GETTING THE CAR IN TO THE SHOP I HAD NOTICED EXTREMELY POOR HANDLING IN THE SNOW, BASICALLY IT FELT AS IF THE REAR OF THE CAR WAS CONSTANTLY SLIDING OUT. *KB
2008 CHEVROLET IMPALA. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO TRANSMISSION FAILURE. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED IN SEPT 2007, AND IN SEPT 2009, THE TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS COVERED UNDER 100% WARRANTY AND SHE WAS GIVEN A RENTAL CAR. THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED A FOR A SECOND TIME, AND LASTED UNTIL MARCH 2014. THE CONSUMER STATED THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED FOR A 3RD TIME AND IT HASN'T EVEN BEEN 7 YEARS. THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WOULD HESITATE FROM A STOP. I HAVE A 2008 CHEVY IMPALA LTZ, PURCHASED ON 7-4-08 FORM A GM DEALERSHIP IN YUKON, OK. THE CAR HAD 3670 MILES ON IT WHEN PURCHASED. IT WAS DRIVEN, ACCORDING TO DEALERSHIP, BY THE AREA FINANCIAL OFFICER FOR GM. THE PROBLEM IS THAT WHENEVER YOU DRIVE THROUGH STANDING WATER OR WET SNOW, YOU CANNOT TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. IT DOES NOT HAVE TO MUCH WATER, JUST A WATERHOLE WHERE RUN OFF FROM A SPRINKLER SYSTEM HAS RUN OFF THE DRIVEWAY. ONE TIME, IT WAS LEFT IN AN ENCLOSED GARAGE OVER NIGHT AND THE DRIVER THE NEXT MORNING JUST ABOUT HIT A PARKED VEHICLE BECAUSE THEY COULD TURN THE THE STERRING WHEEL. THE CAR HAS BEEN TO TWO LOCAL GM DEALERSHIPS AND THEY CANNOT FIND ANY PROBLEM. GM SAFETY HAS BEEN CONTACTED AND THEY COULD NOT GIVE AN ANSWER FOR THE PROBLEM EITHER. THE OWNERS OF THIS VEHICLE FEEL THAT THIS COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT IF NOT FIXED. SO FAR, MOST OF THE TIMES THIS HAS HAPPENED HAS BEEN IN TOWN AND AND AT LESS THAN 35 MPH.

THE DEALER STATED THAT THE BRAKES WERE SUPPOSED TO FUNCTION THAT WAY. THE BRAKES WERE UNDER WARRANTY AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT AND THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT SHE WOULD HAVE TO PAY TO REPAIR THE FAILURE AFTER IT WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 10,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 17,500
