DRIVING 40MPH CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON THEN REDUCED ENGINE POWER FLASHED ON MESSAGE BOARD SEVERAL SECONDS LATER TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON AND SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL CAME ON MESSAGE BOARD. MY SPEED WAS REDUCED TO 20MPH IN TRAFFIC! LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER SAFELY WITHOUT CAUSING ANY ACCIDENT (FYI I HAD MY DAUGHTER IN THR CAR WITH ME). I WILL BE TAKING THE CAR TO A CHEVY SHOP IN THE MORNING WHERE IM SURE I WILL HAVE TO PAY HIGH COST OUT OF POCKET EVEN THOUGH THIS HAS BEEN AN ISSUE FOR CHEVY OWNERS (ONLINE SEARCH) AND THERE HAS BEEN MANY COMPLAINTS WITH NO RECALL. THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE AND I FEEL IT IS PUTTING MANY LIVES IN DANGER AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL A LONG TIME AGO. IM JUST LUCKY I WASN'T ON THE HIGHWAY YET BECAUSE THIS COULD HAVE TURNED FATAL. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATES THAT THE VEHICLE REAR SUSPENSION SYSTEM WAS CAUSING THE TIRES TO WEAR PREMATURELY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR TIRES HAD TO BE REPLACED APPROXIMATELY EVERY SIX MONTHS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THIS ISSUE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000.
OUR 2008 CHEVROLET IMPALA IS UNDER THE RECALL FOR THE IGNITION SWITCH. WE HAVE THE LETTER. CAR WAS AT THE DEALER FOR 4 WEEKS AND THEY DIDN'T FIX IT. THEY SAID TO TAKE THE REMOTE OFF THE KEY AND ONLY HAVE THE KEY IN THE IGNITION WITH NOTHING ELSE ON THE KEY AND NO OTHER FIX IS AVAILABLE. WE FEEL THE CAR IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS SHOULD THE CAR SHUT OFF. THE DEALER IS FOWLER CHEVROLET IN TULSA, OKLAHOMA.AND THEY REFUSE TO PROVIDE US A LOANER CAR. WHAT ARE WE TO DO? *TR
AFTER GOING THROUGH A SMALL PUDDLE, SERP BELT SLIPS, LOSE POWER STEERING, CANT HARDLY CONTROL CAR. IF IT HAPPENED WITH MY WIFE DRIVING IN TRAFFIC COULD BE VERY BAD. WENT TO BEARD CHEVROLET A MONTH AGO (THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING SEVERAL MOS) AND WAS TOLD IT'S NORMAL, AND IN NEW CARS THEY WENT TO ELECTRIC PS BECAUSE OF IT. THAT DOESN'T CONSOLE ME WITH AN OTHERWISE PERFECTLY RUNNING CAR. I HAD REPLACED THE TENSIONER AND SERP BELT ALREADY BEFORE GOING TO THE DEALER. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET IMPALA. WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE, THE AIR BAG SENSOR LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE MESSAGE TO SERVICE THE AIR BAGS SOON APPEARED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 64,000.
I RECEIVED NOTICE OF A SAFETY RECALL #14299 FROM CHEVROLET INSTRUCTING ME TO CALL MY LOCAL DEALER AND SCHEDULE A TIME TO HAVE THE IGNITION REPAIR. THE LOCAL DEALER, CAMPBELL CHEVROLET IN BOWLING GREEN, KY TOLD ME THEY DID NOT HAVE THE PARTS. THE DEALER INSTRUCTED ME TO LEAVE MY NAME AND TELEPHONE NUMBER AND THEY WOULD CALL WHEN THE PARTS CAME IN. THIS CALL TOOK PLACE ON NOVEMBER 13, 2014. I STILL HAVE NOT HEARD ANYTHING FROM THE DEALER. I BELIEVE THERE HAS BEEN MORE THAN ENOUGH TIME TO GET THE PARTS NEEDED AND FIX THIS PROBLEM. MEANWHILE, I AM STILL DRIVING THE CAR WITH THIS KNOWN RISK. IF THIS IS THE MANNER IN WHICH CAR MANUFACTURERS ARE ALLOWED TO STATE THEY ARE TAKING CARE OF RECALLS IT IS NO WONDER MORE DEATHS ARE NOT AVOIDED. IF I ATTEMPT TO TRADE THE VEHICLE I AM SURE THIS WILL BE AN ISSUE AND MOST PROBABLY DEVALUE MY CAR. IS THERE OTHER RECOURSE A CONSUMER CAN TAKE TO REMEDY THIS ISSUE? *TR
THIS CAR HAD TO BE TOWED ON ABOVE DATE DUE TO INABILITY TO SHIFT OUT OF "PARK". THE MECHANIC REMOVED THE CENTER CONSOLE AND REPAIRED A BROKEN GROUND WIRE TO THE INTER-SHIFT LOCK. I HAD TO PAY OUT OF POCKET $383 FOR A BROKEN WIRE NO BIGGER THAN A STRAND OF HAIR. THERE IS NO GUARANTEE THAT THIS WON'T HAPPEN AGAIN OR POSSIBLY NEXT TIME IT WILL BE THE KEY IGNITION WIRE THAT WILL BREAK WHICH IS FOUND IN THE SAME SOLENOID. I FEEL THAT THIS IS A FLAW IN GM MANUFACTURING OF THIS TYPE OF VEHICLE. I HAVE REVIEWED HUNDREDS OF OTHER GM COMPLAINTS OF THIS SAME NATURE. I DEFINITELY AGREE THAT THIS PROBLEM NEEDS TO BE REVIEWED BY GM AND A RECALL IS WARRANTED. I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO INCLUDE THAT THERE IS DEFINITELY A PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE'S POWER LOCKS. MY REAR POWER LOCKS WOULD NOT UNLOCK WHEN THE LOCK BUTTON WAS DEPRESSED. I HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM REPAIRED TWICE WITHIN THE PAST 2 YEARS AND NOW THE REAR LOCKS WILL NOT OPEN AGAIN UNLESS I REACH OVER THE SEAT AND MANUALLY UNLOCK THEM MYSELF. *TR
WHILE DRIVING 65MPH ON HIGHWAY 526 IN SC, OUR 2008 CHEVY IMPALA EXPERIENCED REDUCED ENGINE POWER AND A TRACTION CONTROL ERROR MESSAGE APPEARED ON THE DASH. THE VEHICLE LOST ENGINE POWER AND MY WIFE, DAUGHTER AND I WERE ALMOST REAR ENDED . WE HAVE NOW SPENT HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS TRYING TO REPAIR THE ISSUE BUT WITH NO SOLUTION IN SIGHT. *TR
I WAS TURNING IN MY DRIVEWAY OFF OF THE MAIN ROAD AND THE CAR SEEMED TO CUT OFF. THE FIRST THING THAT I NOTICED WAS THAT I HAD TO STRUGGLE TO TURN THE WHEEL AS I WAS TRYING TO AVOID A CEMENT POST ON THE SIDE OF MY DRIVEWAY. I GOT IT IN THE DRIVEWAY WHILE BASICALLY COASTING, AND I NOTICED SOME LIGHTS ON IN THE DASH. I PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND PROCEEDED TO START IT. *TR

SO IM DRVING DOWN THE EXPRESSWAY I57 AT ABOUT 85MPH AND THE CAR BEEPS 3 TIMES DISPLAYING SERVICE STABILATRACK/ SERVICE TRACTION AND CHECK ENGINE SECONDS LATER THE CAR COMPLETELY CUT OFF. WHILE IN TRAFFIC. *TR
WINDSHIELD WIPERS STOPPED WORKING WHILE TRYING TO CLEAR DEBRIS FROM WINDSHIELD TRAVELING AT INTERSTATE SPEEDS OF 65MPH+. WINDSHIELD WIPERS MADE ONE SWEEP, WHEN ACTIVATED AGAIN, MOTOR CLICKED AND WIPERS SEIZED IN PARTIAL UP POSITION CREATING VISIBILITY HAZARD. CONTINUED TO ATTEMPT TO GET WIPERS TO FUNCTION WITH NO LUCK. STOPPED VEHICLE, SHUTDOWN AND RESTARTED, ATTEMPTED USE OF WIPERS AGAIN STILL WOULD NOT FUNCTION. FUSE CHECKED AND STILL GOOD. *TR

I RECEIVED A LETTER FOR THE RECALL-14299. I CONTACTED MY DEALER WHO SAID HE DOES NOT HAVE PARTS YET. WE THEN GOT A LETTER THAT SAID THE CONTRACTOR HAD THE PARTS. WE CONTACTED THE DEALER AND THEY HAD 4 LEGAL PAGES WITH NAMES AND OURS STARTED THE 5TH. THE DEALER SAID THEY DO NOT HAVE THE PARTS. WHY ARE WE WAITING SO LONG FOR THE PARTS? *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED CAUSING ANOTHER VEHICLE TO CRASH INTO THE PASSENGER FRONT SIDE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE PASSENGER FROM THE OTHER VEHICLE SUSTAINED UNKNOWN INJURIES WHICH REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. IT WAS UNKNOWN IF A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNAVAILABLE.

WHILE WAITING BEHIND A CAR AT A STOP SIGN I WAS STRUCK FROM BEHIND BY AT FORD F-150. THE TRUCK WAS TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH WHILE I WAS AT A COMPLETE STOP. AFTER BEING STRUCK I WAS THROWN INTO THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME AND BOTH WERE PUSHED A GREAT DISTANCE BY THE TRUCK. THE REAR OF THE CAR SUFFERED PRETTY SEVER DAMAGE AND WAS TOTALED. THE TRUCK WAS COMPLETELY PUSHED INTO THE BACK SEAT OF THE CAR. ITEMS SUCH AS PHONES, LAPTOPS, AND TEXT BOOKS WERE DESTROYED MAINLY FROM THE IMPACT BUT ALSO THE RAIN. THE CAR SHUT IT SELF OFF LIKE IT SHOULD HAVE, BUT NONE OF THE AIR BAGS WERE DEPLOYED. I DO NOT RECALL IF MY SEAT BELT HAD LOCKED UP BECAUSE I HAVE NO MEMORY OF THE ACTUAL ACCIDENT. ON-STAR WAS ALSO NOT NOTIFIED OF THE ACCIDENT. I WAS ABLE TO INFORM THEM OF THE ACCIDENT AND CALL FOR HELP, BUT I LOST A CONNECTION AND WAS NOT ABLE TO REGAIN THE CONNECTION. I AM SUFFERING FROM HEAD, NECK, SHOULDER, BACK, AND LEG INJURIES. I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY MY DOCTOR THAT I MAY NOT RECOVER IN MY NECK AND BACK. THERE WAS A POLICE REPORT FILED BUT HONESTLY IT INACCURATELY DOCUMENTED THE ACCIDENT. *TR

THE KEY IS STUCK IN THE IGNITION, THIS WAS AT 10:15PM 9/25/14. THE CAR WAS ABLE TO BE TURNED OFF, I TURNED OFF THE RADIO, LIGHTS, AIR AND ANYTHING ELSE I THOUGHT WOULD KILL THE BATTERY. I REMOVED THE KEY FOB AND LOCKED MY VEHICLE. I WOKE UP THIS MORNING AT 5AM THINKING THE CAR WOULDN'T START BUT THANKFULLY IT DID. I DROVE TO WORK AND NOW I AM WORRIED THE BATTERY WILL BE DEAD WHEN I RETURN TO IT TO GO HOME. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT JACK WINEGARDINER CHEVROLET AND THEY SAID THE CAUSE COULD BE A DEAD BATTERY, NOT SO, I CAN START AND DRIVE THE CAR JUST FINE. WHEN I ASKED WHAT COULD BE THE CAUSE, COULD IT POSSIBLY BE THE RECALL 14299, HE SAID NO. I TOLD HIM THAT I HAVE DONE MY RESEARCH AND THIS IS AN ONGOING ISSUE WITH THESE CARS AND HE SAID UNFORTUNATELY THEIR IS NO RECALL FOR THAT MA'AM AND THAT I WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIRS. REALLY, I HAD ANOTHER ISSUE WITH THE CARD JUST A FEW DAYS AGO WHICH I WILL REPORT IN ANOTHER COMPLAINT. BUT IN SHORT THE CAR HAD REDUCED POWER AND TRACTION WAS SUPPOSEDLY AFFECTED. TURNED THE CAR OF AND WENT IN TO WORK, WENT BACK TO GO HOME AND IT HAS BEEN FINE EVER SINCE. THIS CAR IS BECOMING UNRELIABLE. I USED TO LOVE MY CAR, NOW, I DON'T THINK I WILL BUY ANOTHER CHEVY, EVER! *TR

UPON RESTARTING, THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO OPERATE NORMALLY. THE FAILURE OCCURRED FIVE TIMES. ON A SEPARATE OCCASION, THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE POWER CONTROL MODULE WAS REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 27,000. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED TWICE, BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED.
