DASH BOARD WENT BLANK AND NOW IT COMES ON AND THEN GOES OFF. THE GAUGES ARE NOT WORKING FOR THE GAS, MILEAGE TEMPERATURE ETC. MY AC BLOWER LIGHT ETC IS NOT EVEN WORKING. I CANNOT PASS THE VEHICLE EMISSIONS TEST BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE AND VERY VERY FRUSTRATED. I WILL NEVER NEVER EVER EVER EVER REFER ANYONE TO BUY A CHEVY EVER. I HAVE HAD MORE ISSUES WITH THIS CAR THAT YOU CANNOT BELIEVE. I WILL BE PURCHASING A FOREIGN CAR GOING FORWARD. *TR

THE CONTACT HAD TO ROLL THE PASSENGER SIDE AND TWO REAR WINDOWS DOWN TO OPEN THE DOORS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME AND LUCKILY NOT WHILE TRAVELING ON A HIGHWAY. I AM GETTING A TRACTION CONTROL LOSS WITH REDUCED POWER LIGHT ON THAT ACTUALLY POWERS DOWN THE ENGINE. I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO SHUT THE CAR OFF AND CLEAR THE LIGHT AND IT WORKS O.K. BUT THAT IS NOT A PERMANENT FIX. THIS PROBLEM WITH THESE VEHICLES HAS BEEN WELL DOCUMENTED HUNDREDS OF TIMES ON FORUMS ALL OVER THE INTERNET AND WHY HAS GM DONE NOTHING ABOUT THIS? SOMEONE IS GOING TO DIE OR SERIOUSLY BECOME INJURED DUE TO THIS DEFECT, I HOPE TO GOD IT IS NOT ME!!! I WAS DRIVING IN THE RAIN ON MY WAY TO WORK ON A HIGHWAY. WITH OUT WARNING MY STEERING LOCKS UP, MY BATTERY LIGHT AND ENGINE LIGHTS TURN ON. ALONG WITH THIS MY CARS TEMP GOES THROUGH THE ROOF. THIS IS HAPPENING AT 65 MPH ITS 3 AM I CAN NO LONGER SEE OR CONTROL MY VEHICLE. THANKS TO MY SKILLED DRIVING I WAS ABLE TO PULL THE CAR OVER. I CAN'T FIGURE OUT WHAT IS WRONG WITH MY CAR I'VE HAD A PROFESSIONAL LOOK AT IT HE DOESN'T KNOW WHAT DO OVER THAN REPLACE PARTS AND DO TRIAL AND ERROR. WHEN I ATTEMPT TO LOCK OR EVEN UNLOCK MY CHEVROLET WITH THE REMOTE, THE DOOR LOCKS REACT ERRATICALLY. SOMETIMES THEY ALL UNLOCK WHEN I PUSH THE REMOTE AND SOMETIMES ONLY1, 2 OR 3 WILL UNLOCK. SINCE I CARRY MY GUN IN THE CAR AT ALL TIMES, MY WIFE AND I HAVE TO ALWAYS STAND BY THE CAR TO MAKE SURE THAT ALL OF THE DOORS LOCK WHEN USING THE REMOTE WHICH IS VERY AGGRAVATING AND THEN WE ALSO HAVE THE PROBLEM OF SOME OF THE DOOR NOT UNLOCKING WITH THE REMOTE. THE SERVICE MANAGER AT OUR CHEVROLET DEALER SAID HE COULDN'T BE SURE WHAT IT WOULD TAKE TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM. I SUPPOSE THIS WILL BE ANOTHER EXPENSIVE PROBLEM TO CORRECT. *TR

WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED, NOTICED SOME VIBRATION FROM REAR TIRES. CHECKED TIRES WHEN I GOT HOME. REAR TIRES HAVE EXTREME TREAD WEAR ON THE INSIDE EDGE. THIS WEAR IS HIDDEN BECAUSE IT IS ON THE VERY INSIDE EDGES OF THE TIRES, AND YOU DON'T NOTICE WHEN LOOKING AT THE TIRES FROM THE SIDE OF THE CAR. MOST OF THE TIRE YOU CAN SEE LOOKS NORMAL. THE WEAR IS ON THE INNER MOST 5% OF THE TREAD. AND IT IS EXTREME WEAR, ALL THE WAY THROUGH THE STEEL BELTS. I RESEARCHED AND FOUND A GM SERVICE BULLETIN FOR 2007-8 IMPALA TIRE WEAR AND SUSPENSION PROBLEMS LIKE THIS. BUT THAT BULLETIN ONLY CALLED FOR SERVICE ON MODELS WITH POLICE SUSPENSION IN THE REAR. THE SOLUTION REQUIRED REPLACEMENT SPINDLE ARMS TO BE INSTALLED. CALLED GM AND THEY WILL NOT REPLACE MY CONSUMER SPINDLES. BUT I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. THIS TIRE WEAR HAS CAUSED BOW OUTS AND CRASHES IF YOU LOOK AT REPORTS THAT A GOOGLE SEARCH CAN FIND. SEARCH FOR IMPALA SPINDLE AND TIRE WEAR. YOU WILL BE AMAZED AT HOW OBVIOUS THIS DEADLY DEFECT IS. *TR
IN AUGUST 2014 I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM GM STATING THAT THERE IS A RECALL ON MY VEHICLE RECALL# 14299, THE LETTER STATED THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE IGNITION SWITCH WHERE IF I HAPPEN TO GO OVER A SPEED BUMP, HIT A POTHOLE OR OFF ROAD MY KEY "MAY UNINTENTIONALLY MOVE THE KEY AWAY FROM THE RUN POSITION". THE LETTER ALSO STATES THAT IF THIS WERE TO OCCUR IT WOULD AFFECT MY POWER STEERING, BREAKING AND AIR BAGS DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE SWITCH IS NOT IN THE RUN POSITION RESULTING IN HIGH RISK OF CRASH INCREASING THE RISK OF INJURY OR FATALITY. I WAS SHOCKED WHEN I RECEIVED THIS INFORMATION, I FOLLOWED THE DIRECTIONS OF THE LETTER AND REMOVED ANYTHING THAT ADDED EXTRA WEIGHT TO MY KEY AND CALLED GM IMMEDIATELY. I WAS TOLD BY A GM REP TO CONTACT MY LOCAL DEALER TO SEE WHEN PARTS WILL ARRIVE TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE WHICH STILL TO THIS DAY THEY HAVE NOT. UPON DOING FURTHER RESEARCH I COME TO FIND OUT THAT DUE TO THIS ISSUE THERE HAS BEEN MULTIPLE CRASHES EVEN SOME FATALITY'S!!, NOW I AM TERRIFIED TO DRIVE MY VEHICLE SEEING AS HOW GM DOES NOT GUARANTEE THAT EVEN WHEN ONLY USING THE IGNITION KEY WITHOUT ADDED WEIGHT THAT THE IGNITION WONT BE JARRED TO SWITCH TO THE OFF POSITION. I FEEL THESE VEHICLES SHOULD NOT BE ON THE ROAD SEEING HOW THEY CAN CAUSE HARM TO CHEVY OWNERS AND PEOPLE ON THE STREETS, ALSO SHOULD BE COMPENSATE IN SOME WAY DUE TO THE FACT THAT I HAVE BEEN HAVING TO FIND OTHER WAYS TO TRANSPORT MYSELF WHERE I NEED TO BE. I REFUSE TO PUT MY LIFE AND THE LIFE OF MY PASSENGERS AT RISK BY DRIVING THIS UNSAFE VEHICLE. WITHOUT WARNING, AN ENGINE POWER REDUCED NOTICE APPEARS, AND THE VEHICLE SLOWS DOWN FROM 65 MPH TO UNDER 20 MPH. *TR

FIRST ROUND REPAIRS WERE $9,800 ON A $12,000 VEHICLE AND THEN CARFAX SHOWED FRAME DAMAGE ABOVE AND BEYOND THE ACCIDENT NOTATION AFTER THE REPAIRS! ON THE SAME DAY OF THE ACCIDENT, I EMAILED THE BODY SHOP "PLEASE DON'T PROCEED WITH SIGNIFICANT REPAIRS UNTIL THE FRAME STRUCTURE IS DETERMINED TO BE FINE ", BUT THEY STARTED WITHOUT CONTACTING ME. OUR INSURANCE COVERED LIKE TIRES AND THE DEALERSHIP EVEN WANTED ME TO GO GET THE REPLACEMENT GOODYEAR TIRE AND BRING TO THE DEALERSHIP! IT WAS IN THE SHOP OVER 7 WEEKS AND INSURANCE ONLY COVERED FOR 30 DAYS OF A RENTAL VEHICLE, BUT SINCE WE WERE RENTING FROM THEIR FLEET, THEY HAD NO INCENTIVE TO GET IT DONE. WE ENDED UP TAKING IT TO SOUTHPOINTE CHEVROLET TO MINIMIZE THE NOISES COMING OUT OF THE REPAIR AREA AND HAVE NEVER BEEN REIMBURSED. I REQUESTED QUALITY ASSURANCE IN WRITING REGARDING THE REPAIR AREA AFTER THE CARFAX CONCERNS. I ALSO REQUESTED MORE INFORMATION REGARDING IF THE WELDER WAS CERTIFIED ETC..., BUT HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANYTHING SUBSTANTIAL IN WRITING. THE BODY SHOP MANAGER, CHRIS HELM, WAS TERMINATED SOON AFTER OUR REPAIRS. THE BODY SHOP MANAGER STATED THAT GENERAL MOTORS/CHEVROLET SENT IN A REPRESENTATIVE TO REVIEW THE REPAIRS AND BACKED THE DEALERSHIP 100%. I REQUESTED SOMETHING IN WRITING FROM GENERAL MOTORS/CHEVROLET AFTER SENDING THE PICTURE OF THE REPAIRS AND THEY WON'T PUT ANYTHING IN WRITING. FOWLER CHEVROLET AND FOWLER AUTO GROUP REFUSE TO RESOLVE THE OUTSTANDING ISSUES. I WILL NEVER USE THEM AGAIN. CAN YOU HELP PREVENT OTHER UNSAFE REPAIRS LIKE IN THE PICTURE?

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE TECHNICIAN CONFIRMED THAT THE LOCKS WERE DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. HAD VEHICLE REPAIRED AT FOWLER CHEVROLET IN TULSA OKLAHOMA AND VERY CONCERNED THAT VEHICLE SHOULD HAVE BEEN A TOTAL LOSS. VEHICLE TAKEN IN 2ND TIME FOR REWORK. WE HAVE SOME PICTURES AND VIDEO. BODY SHOP MANAGER WAS TERMINATED. WE NEED ASSISTANCE. VERY CONCERNED ABOUT SAFETY ISSUES ON VEHICLE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. UNSURE WHERE TO TURN. I HAVE BEEN HAVING A PROBLEM WITH THE AC VENT TRYING TO CLOSE WHEN I SHUT OFF THE CAR. IT MAKES A LOUD SPUTTERING CLUNKING SOUND AFTER THE CAR SHUTS OFF. I WAS TOLD IT IS THE VENT TRYING TO CLOSE AND WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE A MOTOR FOR $2-300 PLUS LABOR. ANYTIME I START THE CAR UP, IT MAKES A HIGH PITCH SQUEALING SOUND UNDER THE HOOD AND STOPS WHEN I BACK OUT OF PARK. *TR
THE AIRBAG LIGHT WILL NOT GO OUT, THE STABILITY CONTROL LIGHT COMES ON AND THE CAR LOSES POWER AND THE ENGINE STARTS TO CUT OFF. I HAVE SENT MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP TWICE FOR THE SAME PROBLEM I HAVE EVEN CALLED THE CHEVROLET CORPORATE OFFICE. EACH TIME I GET A DIFFERENT ANSWER AS TO WHAT THE PROBLEM IS THE FIRST TIME. I WAS TOLD IT WAS SENSORS THAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACE AND THAT IT WOULD COST $1200. THIS TIME I WAS TOLD IT WAS THE SPARK PLUGS THAT IS CAUSING THE CAR TO SHUT DOWN AND THE COST WOULD BE AROUND $400 OR $500. THE FIRST SERVICE IN JULY MY RECEIPT SAYS THEY DID A MULTI-POINT INSPECTION WOULD THAT NOT TELL THEM MY PLUGS WERE BAD? MY CAR IS STILL AT FRIENDLY CHEVROLET IN DALLAS CAN YOU PLEASE HELP. MY DAUGHTER DRIVES THIS CAR AND SHE A HIGH RISK PREGNANCY. *TR

AS A RESULT, THE SEALS ON THE MOTOR MOUNT AND A NEW COOLANT RESERVOIR WOULD NEED TO BE INSTALLED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 89,000.
WHEN ACCELERATING AFTER A STOP, TRANSMISSION FEELS LIKE IT'S SLIPPING, THE CAR DOES NOT WANT TO MOVE. AFTER APPLYING ENOUGH GAS, THE CAR WILL "BRAKE LOOSE" AND LUNGE FORWARD. THIS CAN DEFINITELY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. *TR
AFTER STOPPING AT A LIGHT, BRAKES (NOT SURE IF ALL 4) WILL NOT RELEASE. AFTER DEPRESSING GAS PEDAL BRAKES WILL RELEASE AND CAR LUNGES FORWARD. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE IN THE LAST 3 DAYS. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
ALL FOUR DOOR LOCKS STOPPED WORKING FROM THE DRIVER DOOR CONTROL OR THE FOB. THE ONLY WAY TO UNLOCK THE DOORS IS TO PHYSICALLY PULL UP ON THE LOCK. IN THE CASE OF AN ACCIDENT, I WILL BE UNABLE TO UNLOCK ANY OF THE DOORS WITHOUT PHYSICALLY PULLING THE DOOR LOCK. THIS CREATES A SAFETY HAZARD, ESPECIALLY SINCE THE CAR MAY SUDDENLY STOP WORKING. I'M AFRAID I WILL BE KILLED WHILE DRIVING THIS CAR! THE CAR DOES NOT STAY IN ALIGNMENT. CAR WAS JERKING, SHUT OFF TRACTION CONTROL AND CAR JERKED THEN TOO. GM NEEDS TO FIX THIS BEFORE THERE ARE DEATHS. ALSO I HAVE NO UNLOCKING DOORS. THEY HAVE TO ALL BE MANUALLY UNLOCKED. REAR PASSENGER DOORS WILL NOT UNLOCK, TRAPPING PASSENGERS AFTER PARKING VEHICLE NETHER OF THE REAR PASSENGER DOORS COULD BE OPENED. BOTH REAR PASSENGER DOORS REMAIN LOCKED AND COULD NOT BE UNLOCKED USING ETHER THE LOCK CONTROLS LOCATED ON THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR CONTROL OR WITH THE KEY FOB. MY 90+ YEAR OLD PARENT WAS IN REAR PASSENGER COMPARTMENT. DUE TO SEVERE DEMENTIA THEY BECAME PANICKY AND AGITATED WHEN THEY WERE UNABLE TO GET OUT OF THE VEHICLE. THEY DID NOT HAVE THE ABILITY TO OPEN THE DOOR USING THE PASSENGER LOCK NOR COULD THEY FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS TO DO SO. THIS WOULD BE THE SAME SITUATION AS HAVING A SMALL CHILD TRAPPED N THE REAR. THE REAR DOOR MANUAL LOCKING MECHANISM ARE LOCATED TO FAR BACK TO BE REACHED FROM THE DRIVERS COMPARTMENT. I WAS ONLY ABLE TO FREE HIM BY ENTERING THE TRUCK AND PUSHING ONE OF THE REAR SEATS FLAT TO ACCESS THE PASSENGER AREA. HAD THIS BEEN A CRASH OR VEHICLE FIRE ANY PASSENGER IN REAR COMPARTMENT WOULD HAVE PERISHED. A REVIEW OF IMPALA OWNER COMPLAINTS ON SEVERAL WEB SITES INDICATES THERE IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH THE REAR DOOR LOCKS ON THESE IMPALAS BUT GM HAS NOT OFFERED TO FIX WHAT IS AN OBVIOUS SAFETY HAZARD. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. IN ADDITION, THE IGNITION FAILED TO RELEASE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 95,000.

THE BOLT/CLIP TO THE PASSENGER SIDE FRONT SEAT BELT CLIP TO THE B-PILLAR FELL OFF WHILE DRIVING WITHOUT ANY PRESSURE APPLIED. THE SAME HAPPENED APPROXIMATELY SIX MONTHS AGO. AFTER BOTH TIMES, I HAD TO SCREW AND TIGHTEN THE BOLT/SCREW TO REATTACH THE SEAT BELT CLIP TO THE B-PILLAR. SEAT BELTS ARE ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT SAFETY COMPONENTS OF A VEHICLE. FAILURE OF THE B-PILLAR CLIP/SUPPORT OF A SEAT BELT IN THE EVENT OF A COLLISION WOULD LIKELY RESULT IN A CATASTROPHIC INJURIES, WHICH MAY HAVE BEEN PREVENTABLE SHOULD THE SEAT BELT HAVE FUNCTIONED PROPERTY AS INTENDED. *TR
THE FOLLOWING HAS HAPPENED TWICE TO ME IN THE LAST 3 MONTHS. I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY 65-70MPH WHEN THE SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL/ENGINE POWER REDUCED LIGHTS CAME ON DASH. MY CAR THEN LOST ALL POWER ON THE FREEWAY AND MY SPEED WAS REDUCED TO UNDER 35MPH. AFTER STOPPING THE VEHICLE AND TURNING IT OFF FOR APPROXIMATELY 5 MINUTES, THE CAR STARTED BACK UP. *TR
I HAVE HAD THE IGNITION SWITCH REPAIRED UNDER THE RECALL THINKING THIS MIGHT HELP THE PROBLEM. I WILL BE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD WHEN THE STEERING WILL LOCK UP AND THE CAR SLOWS AND CUTS OFF. I HAVE HAD SEVERAL NEAR MISS ACCIDENTS WITH OTHER CARS AND AM LITERALLY AFRAID TO DRIVE THE CAR ANYMORE. THE POWER LOCKING MECHANISM FAILURE. THE ONLY DOOR THAT CAN BE UNLOCKED BY THE KEY FOB IS THE DRIVER'S DOOR. ALL OF THE OTHER DOORS MUST BE MANUALLY UNLOCKED. IF SOMEONE NEEDS TO ENTER THE VEHICLE FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE, THE WINDOW MUST BE OPENED TO ALLOW THE PERSON ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE TO REACH IN AND UNLOCK THE DOOR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THE THE ACTUATOR IN THE DOORS WERE MALFUNCTIONING, AND THE COST WOULD BE $1,300.00 TO HAVE THEM REPAIRED. VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED.

WHILE DRIVING TO WORK ON 29 MAY 2014 I HIT A SMALL POTHOLE. THE POTHOLE IS 10" ACROSS, 3-4" DEEP, AND I HIT IT HEAD ON. THIS CAUSED MY CAR TO SHUT OFF, WHICH I DIDN'T REALIZE UNTIL I TRIED TO ACCELERATE. I THEN REALIZED I HAD NO POWER STEERING OR BREAKS AND HAD TO PULL OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TO RESTART THE CAR. LUCKILY THERE WERE NO CARS BEHIND ME, SO OTHER THAN HAVING TO PULL OFF THE ROAD ON A CURVE I WAS LUCKY. I CALLED BOTH MY LOCAL GM DEALER (RESSLER OF BOZEMAN, MT) AND GM CUSTOMER SUPPORT TO TELL THEM ABOUT THE ISSUE. THE LOCAL DEALER TOLD ME THERE WAS NO ISSUE WITH THE CAR, NO RECALLS, AND NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT. THE TECHNICIAN TOLD ME TO "AVOID HITTING POTHOLES". GIVEN THE STATE OF THE ROADS THAT MAY BE HARD TO DO. THE GM SUPPORT TOLD ME THERE WAS NO RECALL AT THE MOMENT BUT THERE MIGHT BE ONE DOWN THE ROAD AND TO WATCH THE NEWS. *TR

THIS IS THE SECOND INCIDENT WE HAVE HAD WITH OUR 2008 CHEVROLET IMPALA WHERE THIS PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED. THE MOST RECENT INCIDENT WAS ON WEDNESDAY MAY 21ST, AROUND 730 PM. MY WIFE WAS DRIVING ON A ROAD WITH A POSTED SPEED LIMIT OF 45 MILES PER HOUR, SHE SAID SHE WAS GOING ABOUT 48 WHEN THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON, AND THE MESSAGING SYSTEM INDICATED "REDUCED ENGINE POWER." WHEN THIS HAPPENS THE VEHICLE SLOWS RATHER RAPIDLY, AND THEN IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO ACCELERATE BEYOND ABOUT 30 MILES PER HOUR OR SO. DUE TO THE RAPID DECLINE IN SPEED AND THE FACT THAT THIS OCCURS WITHOUT WARNING, I BELIEVE THIS SHOULD BE AN IMMEDIATELY ACTED UPON PROBLEM. I CONTACTED GM ONLY TO BE TOLD THAT I HAVE TO TAKE IT TO GET IT LOOKED AT BY ONE OF THEIR LOCAL DEALERSHIPS, AND PAY FOR THAT DIAGNOSTIC. IN MY ONLINE RESEARCH I HAVE DISCOVERED MANY, PROBABLY IN THE HUNDREDS, WHO'VE EXPERIENCED THIS IDENTICAL ISSUE. SOME OF WHICH HAVE TAKE THEIR CAR TO GM WHO HAS CONCLUDED ACCORDING TO POST OF EXPERIENCES ON EDMUNDS THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE SOURCE OF THE PROBLEM OR REPAIR IT. THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT REQUIRE IMMEDIATE ATTENTION. I CAN'T IMAGINE HOW DIFFERENTLY THIS COULD HAVE GONE SHOULD MY WIFE HAVE BEEN GOING 75 MPH ON INTERSTATE 80. OUR 2008 IMPALA LS, WITH 100,000 MILES, IS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM I AM SEEING AT THIS WEB SITE AND ALL ACROSS THE INTERNET. LAST MONTH, MAY, 2014, AND THIS MONTH, JUNE, 2014, THERE WAS A SUDDEN REDUCED POWER ALERT ON THE DASHBOARD AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THE SPEED IMMEDIATELY DROPPED TO NO MORE THAN 35 MPH. BEFORE I COULD GET IT TO ADVANCE TO HAVE THEM CHECK TO SEE IF ANY CODES HAD BEEN DROPPED BY THE COMPUTER, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WENT OFF. THERE WAS NO REDUCED POWER MESSAGE EITHER, AND THE SPEED RETURNED TO NORMAL. I WAS TOLD TO TRY FUEL INJECTOR CLEANER, WHICH I DID. ALL WENT WELL FOR ALMOST A MONTH, WHEN THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN THIS MONTH. THIS TIME I WAS ABLE TO GET IT TO ADVANCE WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STILL ON. THE COMPUTER HAD DROPPED 2 CODES, BOTH RELATED TO THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL POSITION SENSOR. ADVANCE DID NOT HAVE THE PART, NOR DID AUTOZONE. FORTUNATELY, NAPA DID, FOR $90, INCLUDING TAX. OUR LOCAL CHEVY DEALERSHIP WANTED $50 MORE. SINCE IT IS A VERY EASY PART TO REPLACE EVEN FOR AN AMATEUR LIKE ME, I REPLACED IT. THERE ARE ONLY 2 10 MM BOLTS TO REMOVE AND AN ELECTRICAL CONNECTION TO UNPLUG. SO IT WAS PRETTY SIMPLE, AND SO FAR, THIS HAS DONE THE TRICK, BUT IT'S ONLY BEEN 24 HOURS. THIS APPARENTLY IS A JOB THAT THE DEALERSHIPS WANT TO CHARGE $300 TO $400 TO DO. AS I SAID, THIS IS A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM FOR GM, AND THEY HAVE NOT AND WILL NOT, SO FAR, DO A RECALL. THEY SHOULD. I'M ONLY OUT $90 SO FAR, BUT OTHER PEOPLE ARE OUT MUCH MORE. IF I HAVE THE DREADED, FOLLOW-UP PROBLEM WITH THE THROTTLE BODY, I WILL BE OUT A WHOLE LOT MORE. I SENT AN E-MAIL TO CHEVROLET AFTER THE FIRST INSTANCE, AND DID GET A RESPONSE BACK. I TOLD HIM I DIDN'T WANT TO TAKE ANY FURTHER ACTION UNLESS THIS HAPPENS AGAIN.
