I PARKED ON AN INCLINE, A DRIVEWAY AT A RESIDENCE AND WHEN I WAS LEAVING AND TRYING TO START THE CAR THE IGNITION WOULDN'T ENGAGE UNTIL I LIFTED THE KEY AND CENTERED IT. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL MORE TIMES WHEN I PARK ON ANY KIND OF A INCLINE. DON'T KNOW IF IT'S RELATED TO THE RECALLS GOING ON. I JUST THOUGHT YOU OUT TO BE AWARE. I CONTACTED MY DEALER AND THEY SAID I HAD TO WAIT FOR A RECALL TO BRING IT IN FOR NO CHARGE. *TR
I HAVE HAD MANY PROBLEMS WITH THE ENGINE POWER BEING REDUCED DUE TO CODE 2135, IT'S A THROTTLE POSITION PROBLEM THAT HAS HAPPENED MAYBE 50-100 TIMES OVER THE PAST YEAR. I CAN CLEAN THE THROTTLE PLATE AND IT'LL BE FINE FOR A FEW DAYS, BUT IS GETTING PROGRESSIVELY WORSE. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS WHEN THE CAR'S POWER IS REDUCED SO QUICKLY, ESPECIALLY ON FREEWAYS. I'VE NEARLY BEEN REARENDED A FEW TIMES NOW. I'VE COMPLAINED TO CHEVROLET AND THEY ONLY SAY THERE ISN'T A RECALL AND TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER FOR SERVICE. I'VE CONTACTED THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THEY'D CLEAN THE THROTTLE BODY, WHICH IS WHAT I AM DOING. THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL FOR SAFETY'S SAKE, THIS IS A VERY DEADLY PROBLEM THAT THEY NEED TO ADDRESS. IT'S NOT THE CONSUMER'S FAULT AT ALL. THANK YOU. *TR
BOTH REAR PASSENGER DOOR LOCKS STOP WORKING PRIOR TO 60,000 MILES. THEY WOULD WORK RANDOMLY AND EVENTUALLY STOPPED WORKING ALL TOGETHER. AFTER RESEARCHING THE ISSUE THERE ARE SEVERAL HUNDRED COMPLAINTS ON WEBSITES AND IT APPEARS TO BE THAT THEY USED A LUBRICANT THAT BECOMES TOO SOLIDIFIED. IF I WERE IN AN ACCIDENT I WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO UNLOCK THE REAR DOORS USING THE KEY FOB OR THE POWER UNLOCK. IT HAS TO BE DONE MANUALLY AND THEY ARE VERY DIFFICULT TO REACH FROM THE FRONT SEATS.
DRIVING DOWN HIGHWAY WHEN CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND "ENGINE POWER REDUCED" APPEARED ON MY DASH. SOON AFTER MY SPEED AND POWER WAS CUT FROM 70 MPH TO UNDER 40. I GOT ANOTHER MESSAGE SAYING "SERVICE THROTTLE DISABLED" AND MY CAR LOST ALL ABILITY TO ACCELERATE AND STEER. I WAS FORCED TO PULL OVER AND WAITED UNTIL IT STARTED UP AGAIN. THIS IS A DANGEROUS FLAW THAT IS HAPPENING TO MANY GM OWNERS. PLEASE RECALL FOR EVERYONE'S SAFETY. *TR
WHEN DRIVING THROUGH ST. LOUIS AROUND MIDNIGHT ON I-270 ON MAY 3, THE "ENGINE POWER IS REDUCED" MESSAGE CAME ON AND THE CAR SLOWED DRAMATICALLY RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE LANE OF THE INTERSTATE. QUITE SCARY INDEED, NOT TO MENTION THE LURCHING. AFTER BEING NEARLY RUN OVER ON BOTH SIDES, I PULLED OFF IN A VERY DARK PART OF TOWN AND THE POLICE CAME BY TO CHECK ON ME. INITIALLY THE CAR WOULDN'T START WITH THE MESSAGE, "STARTING IS DISABLED, SERVICE THROTTLE." AFTER ABOUT AN HOUR, THE THING ALLOWED ME TO START IT, BUT STILL WITH THE "POWER IS REDUCED" MESSAGE. I ACTUALLY DROVE THAT THING HOME (OVER 90 MILES) WITH SEMIS BEARING DOWN ON ME, ALTERNATING FLASHERS AND WATCHING OVER MY SHOULDER. ANYWAY, THE NEXT DAY, IT STILL WOULDN'T RUN NORMALLY, BUT I LIMPED OVER TO AN AUTOZONE AND I REPLACED THE THROTTLE ASSEMBLY AND THE THROTTLE BODY (THE ENGINE CODE SAID P0651, BUT THAT WAS A WASTE OF $300). NO HELP, SAME MESSAGE. I LET THE CAR SIT. WHEN IT FIRST STARTED UP, STILL HAD THE MESSAGE. BUT ABOUT 5 MINUTES LATER, THE CAR STARTED NORMALLY!!! THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON NOW, BUT THOSE CODES HAVEN'T BEEN ACCURATE SO FAR. WHILE THE CAR WAS RUNNING NORMALLY, I WENT OUT AND JIGGLED ALL THE WIRING BOTH UNDER THE DASH AND ABOVE THE THROTTLE, BUT COULD NOT FIND A LOOSE WIRE OR GET THE CAR TO SHIFT INTO THE "ENGINE POWER REDUCED" MESSAGE. I ALSO TAPPED ON AND JIGGLED THE AIR BOX (BECAUSE I WAS TOLD THAT'S WHERE THE ECM IS LOCATED). STILL COULDN'T GET IT TO GO BAD. CAME BACK OUT THE NEXT TIME AND THE CAR HAD THE "ENGINE POWER IS REDUCED" MESSAGE AND RUNNING HORRIBLY. I WAS FORTUNATE NOT TO BE KILLED, THESE CARS ARE MOVING CHICANES. I AM TOTALLY AT A LOSS AS TO WHAT IS GOING ON. GM SERVICE REPS SAY "GO TO THE DEALER" BUT ONLINE SHOWS THIS ONLY RESULTS IN A BUNCH OF EXPENSIVE REPLACED PARTS THAT DIDN'T FIX THE PROBLEM. I ONLY SUFFERED A BACKACHE BUT THIS CAR IS AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN. *TR
ON FRIDAY MAY 2, 2014, I WENT AND BOUGHT $72 WORTH OF GROCERIES, ALL BUT $10 WERE FROZEN OR COLD AND IT WAS ABOUT 80 DEGREES OUTSIDE. WHEN I GOT HOME AND WENT TO TAKE THE GROCERIES OUT OF THE TRUNK THE TRUNK WOULD NOT OPEN. I THEN TOOK IT TO THE SHOP TO SEE IF THEY COULD GET IT OPEN THEY COULD NOT. THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY LOOKED THE PROBLEM UP ONLINE AND SAID IT WAS A FACTORY DEFECT/RECALL AND THAT IF I TOOK IT TO AN ACTUAL CHEVY DEALERSHIP OR MANUFACTURE THAT THEY WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR IT. WHEN I TOOK IT TO A CHEVY DEALERSHIP, SATURDAY MAY 3, 2014, THEY SAID THAT I WAS GOING TO HAVE TO PAY FOR IT BECAUSE MY CAR ISN'T UNDER WARRANTY ANY MORE. I FEEL LIKE CHEVY SHOULD STILL PAY FOR IT AND REIMBURSE ME FOR MY GROCERIES THAT I LOST. IT WAS NOT MY FAULT THAT THE TRUNK WOULD NOT OPEN AND IT IS ALSO NOT MY FAULT THAT THE PREVIOUS OWNER EITHER 1) DID NOT TURN THE RECALL IN OR 2) DIDN'T BOTHER TO TELL ANYONE ABOUT IT. *TR
CAR STARTED MAKING CLUNKING NOISE WHEN TURNING STEERING WHEEL TO THE LEFT. NOISE WAS SUBTLE AND INFREQUENT AT FIRST. IT HAS GRADUALLY INCREASED IN NOISE LEVEL AND FREQUENCY. I CAN ALSO FEEL THE CLUNKING IN THE STEERING WHEEL. *TR
THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN RECALLED DUE TO AIR BAGS, AND IN A YEAR NO ONE HAS BEEN ABLE TO GET THE REPAIRS DONE TO THE VEHICLE. BUT FURTHERMORE THE CAR HAS SEVERAL OTHER MECHANICAL ISSUES THAT I AM SHOWING AS A TREND WITH IMPALAS BEING THAT MY SISTER AND COUSIN HAVE ONE ALSO IN DIFFERENT YEARS, THE CAR MAKES A TICKING NOISE WHEN THE AIR OR HEAT IS TURNED ON THE PASSENGER SIDE DELIVERS OPPOSITE TEMP AS THE DRIVER SO IF AIR IS ON THE PASSENGER WILL DELIVER HEAT AND VICE VERSA. IF THE CAR GOES OVER A SPEED BUMP THE ENGINE REDUCES POWER AND SERVICE STABILITRAK APPEARS ACROSS THE LIGHTING AS WELL AS THE CAR DROPPING OUT OF GEAR IF I GO OVER ANY BUMP. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS ESPECIALLY BEING THAT MY CHILDREN AND I WERE IN THIS CAR AND IT DECIDED TO DO THIS ON THE INTERSTATE AT NIGHT IN 70 MPH TRAFFIC. AFTER DOING RESEARCH ON THE VEHICLE I AM SHOWING THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY PERSON WITH ALL OF THESE PROBLEMS LISTED, AND IT BOTHERS ME THAT NONE OF THESE ISSUES HAVE BEEN RECALLED JUST AS THE AIR BAGS WERE EVEN THOUGH I THINK THE RECALL, IS JUST TO SAVE FACE BECAUSE NO ONE IS ACTUALLY DOING THE WORK TO GET THEM FIXED. AT FIRST I THOUGHT THESE THINGS WERE JUST MECHANICAL PROBLEMS WITH AGE OF CAR BUT AFTER RESEARCH THESE ARE ISSUES THAT ARE IN CARS MADE IN THIS TIME FRAME AND WARRANTS A RECALL FOR THE SAFETY OF CONSUMERS.
THE KEY IS STUCK IN THE IGNITION SWITCH AND WON'T COME OUT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE HE DROVE AT APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE FAILURE WAS EXPERIENCED SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO REPROGRAMMED THE COMPUTER BUT THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 61,000.
TL- CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVEY IMPALA LT. THE FAILURE OCCURED APRIL 2014. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING AND YOU HIT A POTHOLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THEY HAD TO PUT ON HAZARD LIGHTS ON. THE CONTACT BRAKES FAILED AFTER HITTING THE POTHOLE, PREVENTING HER FROM STOPING THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THE KEY IGNITION FAILED. THE CURRENT MILLAGE IS 109,000. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURE. THERE WERE NO REPAIRS MADE ON THE VEHICLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE VEHICLE JERKED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 66,460.
WHILE DRIVING MESSAGE REDUCED ENGINE POWER IS DISPLAYED ALONG WITH THROTTLE DISABLED MESSAGE, ENGINE SHUTS OFF, MAKING VEHICLE DIFFICULT TO STEER. LEFT MY WIFE STRANDED IN MIDDLE OF ROAD. CAR RESTARTS AFTER APPROX. 15 MIN AND DISPLAYS ORANGE ENGINE LIGHT. TOOK TO WEBBS TEXACO IN LAKELAND, FL AND THEY SAY IT HAS A BAD ECM. PREVIOUSLY SHUT OFF AT 70 MPH ON INTERSTATE. *TR
LETTER FROM CONSTITUENT WHO EXPERIENCED PROBLEMS WITH HER 2008 IMPALA, SEEKING REIMBURSEMENT FOR THE REPAIRS SHE BELIEVES WERE ALL PART OF A RECALL. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED ON APRIL 1, 2014, SHE HAD JUST EXITED THE INTERSTATE HIGHWAY, WHEN SUDDENLY THE ENGINE SHUT OFF. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RE-START AND A MESSAGE APPEARED ON THE DASH THAT READ THROTTLE CONTROL SYSTEM. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A SERVICE STATION. THE THROTTLE BODY WAS REPLACED. ON APRIL 19, 2014. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AS SHE WAS DRIVING. SHE PULLED INTO A PARKING LOT, AND TURNED OFF THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE DID NOT RE-START, ONCE AGAIN, THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED. THE POWER TRAIN CONTROL MODULE HAD TO BE REPLACED AND THE COMPUTER WAS RE-PROGRAMMED.*JB
DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND THE ENGINE SLOWS DOWN , THEN THE REDUCED SPEED LIGHT COMES ON. THE ENGINE POWER IS VERY SLOW ALMOST GOT REAR ENDED. I HAVE READ ON LINE THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED ALOT TO THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE, WHY HASN'T CHEVY RECALLED ANY YET . THIS SHOULD BE A SAFETY HAZARD. *TR
WHILE ACCELERATING THE CAR LOST THE ABILITY TO CONTINUE ACCELERATING ALL AT ONCE WHICH CAUSED A JERKING MOTION OF THE CAR CAUSING ME(THE DRIVER) TO BE THROWN FORWARD HITTING MY HEAD ON THE STEERING WHEEL. IT ALL HAPPENED VERY FAST AND THE REDUCED ENGINE POWER AND TRACTION CONTROL MESSAGE APPEARED ON THE DASH BOARD AND IS STILL ON THE DASH BOARD. AS I SAID IT ALL HAPPENED VERY FAST BUT I WAS ABLE TO BRACE MYSELF SLIGHTLY WHICH IS THE ONLY REASON I WAS NOT SERIOUSLY INJURED. THIS ISSUE WHICH NOW AFTER SPEAKING TO MY CAR MECHANIC AND ME SEEING MANY OTHER PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH ONLINE IS A DEATH SENTENCE TO SOMEONE. SOMEONE IS GOING TO DIE FROM THE CAR LOSING THE ABILITY TO ACCELERATE ALL AT ONCE ALONG WITH A JERKING MOTION THAT MAKES YOU WANT TO HAVE A FOOT ON THE GAS AND A FOOT ON THE BRAKE TO BE ABLE TO STOP SHOULD THE CAR TAKE OFF ON IT OWN. *TR
DIFFICULTY SHIFTING INTO GEAR FROM PARK WITH VEHICLE STARTED OR OFF WHEN DEPRESSING BRAKE. SHIFT LEVER WAS LOCKED AND WOULD NOT MOVE. ON 3/16/2014 IT COMPLETELY LOCKED IN PARK POSITION. I CALLED ROAD SERVICE AND THEY REMOVED PART OF CONSOLE COVER AND FOUND WIRE HAD BROKEN IN WIRE HARNESS (BLACK) WHICH CONTROLS RELEASE OF GEAR SHIFT WHILE DEPRESSING BRAKE PEDAL. THEY SHOWED ME HOW TO DEPRESS RELEASE BUTTON FOR PARKING GEAR. I HAD TO DO THIS FOR 3 DAYS MANUALLY TILL I COULD GET A ELECTRICAL SHOP REPAIR THE BROKEN WIRE SUBSEQUENT WIRE HARNESS AS THEY TOLD ME IT WAS NOT FEASIBLE TO REPLACE JUST THE BLACK WIRE TO THE PARK GEAR RELEASE. IT COST ME $465.00 FOR REPAIRS. I CHECKED ON LINE AND FOUND THIS HAS BEEN A QUITE A PROBLEM WITH 2008 CHEVY IMPALA'S AND IS HAPPENED QUITE FREQUENTLY. MY QUESTION IS WHY GM HAS NOT ISSUED A BULLETIN DUE TO THIS PROBLEM TO CORRECT IT. TO BE STRANDED AND IN THE DARK IS QUITE A FRIGHTENING SITUATION. *TR

THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE TRACTION CONTROL AND ENGINE REDUCE POWER WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED PRIOR TO THE VEHICLE DECELERATING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER TURNING THE ENGINE OFF AND RESTARTING THE VEHICLE OPERATED AS NORMAL. VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. I'VE HAD MY 2008 IMPALA SINCE MARCH 2014, AND I'VE YET TO HAVE MY REAR DEFROST IN WORKING CONDITION. I FEEL LIKE THIS A CONSTANT COMPLAINT SO THERE SHOULD BE SOMETHING DONE ABOUT THIS WHEN THERE IS OVER 400 COMPLAINTS MADE ABOUT THIS SAME ISSUE. IT IS VERY UNCOMFORTABLE TO NOT BE ABLE TO SEE OUT YOUR REAR WINDOW CAUSE OF FROST AND WHEN YOU WIPE IT WITH A CLOTH THAT IS NO HELP NEITHER BECAUSE IT GOES RIGHT BACK TO BEING FOGY. HELP *TR
KNOWN REAR CAMBER PROBLEMS CAUSING REAR TIRES TO GO BALD AND FAIL AND HIGHWAYS SPEEDS WITH LESS THE 20,000 MILES. RECALL WAS PERFORMED ON POLICE PACKAGE MODELS BUT NOT CIVILIAN HOWEVER PARTS ARE IDENTICAL. *TR
I PURCHASED A CHEVY 08 IMPALA IN LATE JANUARY 2013 WITH LESS THAT 55K MILE ON IT, NOW IT'S BEEN ABOUT A YEAR IT'S AROUND 64K MILE. TODAY ON MY WAY TO WORK, THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT AND ENGINE LIGHT ARE ON AND THERE ARE THE MESSAGE OF TRACTION CONTROL IS ON AND ALSO THE ENGINE POWER IS REDUCED. I FELT THE SPEED OF THE CAR REDUCED, LUCKILY I AM ON LOCAL STREET WITHOUT MANY TRAFFIC. AFTER ABOUT AN HOUR I TRIED TO TESTED IT AGAIN AND ONLY THE ENGINE LIGHT IS ON, THE SPEED OF THE CAR IS NORMAL. I AM NOT FAMILIAR WITH CAR PROBLEMS AND ALSO IT'S MY FIRST TIME TO OWN A CAR. BUT I READ A LOT POSTS ONLINE [XXX] AND FOUND SO MANY PEOPLE EXPERIENCING THE SIMILAR PROBLEMS. THE SAME PROBLEM WOULD LATER HAPPEN IN MY SITUATION. I AM DISAPPOINTED TO LEARN THAT GM HASN'T RESOLVED THIS ISSUE. THE LEFT REAR DOOR STARTED TO STAY LOCKED WHEN PUT IN PARK AND THE REMOTE WOULD NOT OPEN IT. NOW ALL FOUR DOORS ARE DOING IT. ONE MIGHT UNLOCK OR TWO BUT IT'S NEVER THE SAME DOORS. NOW THEY ARE POPPING HALFWAY UP AND UNLOCKING WHEN YOU PUT IT IN DRIVE. A SEVERE SAFETY ISSUE ESPECIALLY WHEN KIDS ARE IN MY CAR.

THE VEHICLE WAS FURTHER DIAGNOSED BY A DEALER THAT THE THROTTLE BODY SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS SCHEDULED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000.

THIS CAR IS SO DANGEROUS DUE TO INCREDIBLE WEAR ON THE TREAD ON NEARLY NEW TIRES. ALL 4 TIRES ARE VERY WORN WHEN THE TIRES HAVE ONLY 10,0000 MILES ON THEM. WE ARE SLIPPING AND SLIDING ON WET ROADS. EVEN THOUGH WE HAVE HAD THE CAR ALIGNED -- THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THIS CAR!!!! *TR

JUST BOUGHT THE CAR 3 WEEKS AGO WITH BRAND NEW TIRES ON THEM, AND NOW THE REAR TIRES ARE GOING BALD ON THE INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. GOING TO DEALERSHIP ON SATURDAY TO GET NEW TIRES THAT THEY ARE PAYING FOR ON THE BACK, BUT I DON'T KNOW WHY THIS IS HAPPENING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 61,000.

I WAS ENTERING A HIGHWAY WITH TRAFFIC TRAVELLING AT AND ABOVE POSTED SPEED OF 70 MPH. AS I MERGED, THE THROTTLE DISABLED LIGHT FLASHED ON AND THE ENGINE IMMEDIATELY SHUT DOWN. I WAS DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED (60 MPH) ON A TWO LANE ROAD. TEMPERATURE WAS BELOW FREEZING, NO ICE OR SNOW.
