INTERMEDIATE LIGHT AND READOUT OF SERVICE AIRBAG. THIS LIGHT HAS BEEN DOING THIS SINCE I PURCHASED THE CAR. HAD THE DEALER LOOK AT IT AND THEY CAN'T FIGURE IT OUT. THIS IS A BIG SAFETY ISSUE THAT COULD RESULT IN INJURY AND OR DEATH.
LOUD CLICKING NOISE. I THINK IT'S SOMETHINGS TO DEAL WITH THE AIR CONDITIONER WHEN THE BUTTON IS ON THE BLUE AREA. ACTUATOR? THE CLICKING SOUND WOULD COME AND GO. WHEN I PRESS THE KEY BUTTON ON MY KEYCHAIN. POP THE TRANK AND SOMETIMES IT JUST GOES OFF THROUGH THE THE DAY WHEN THE CAR IS OFF AND PARK.
WHILE DRIVING THE CAR DISPLAYED "POWER REDUCE". THEN THE CAR SLOWED DOWN BY ITSELF. THE NEXT DAY THE CAR LOST POWER. TODAY, THE CAR IS STATING THE SAME THING AND SIGNAL TURN THEMSELVES ON, AND ONCE THE CAR IS OFF THE DOORS WANT LOCK YOU HAVE TO MANUAL LOCK THE DOORS. THE CAR HAVE BEEN JERKING WHILE DRIVING AND MAKING A FUNNY NOISE. *TR
WHEN I MAKE A RIGHT OR LEFT TURN MY SERVICE AIRBAG LIGHT COMES ON.. WHEN I GET IN THE CAR TO START IT UP ITS A LOUD TAPPING NOISE. *TR
THE VEHICLE DISPLAYS A "SERVICE AIR BAG" LABEL AND ALSO A ICON ASSOCIATED WITH THE WRITTEN WARNING. MY 2009 CHEVROLET IMPALA LT IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL, ACCORDING TO THE MY VIN NUMBER. CAN YOU EXPLAIN WHY THIS VEHICLE IS DISPLAYING SERVICE AIR BAG. THIS VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN IN ANY ACCIDENTS. I HAVE NEVER HAD A CAR DISPLAY SUCH A WARNING. I AM VERY AFRAID TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHEVROLET IMPALA. WHILE TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE DRASTICALLY DECELERATED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT HAD TO MERGE TO THE SHOULDER AS THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO SLOW DOWN. THE AIR BAG SENSOR ILLUMINATED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE TECHNICIAN RESET THE SENSORS, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE ACC SENSOR, PEDAL ASSEMBLY, AIR BAG IMPACT MODULE, AND THE WIRING NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,056.
TL-THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PASSENGER AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED THAT THE AIR BAG WAS OFF WHEN A PASSENGER WAS IN THE FRONT SEAT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO INDICATED THAT THE AIR BAG CONTROL MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 41,253. RG
NEWLY PURCHASED CAR AND CHILD LOCKED HIMSELF IN CAR AND WHEN I TRIED TO UNLOCK CAR WITH KEY FOB DOORS WOULDN'T UNLOCK DUE TO AN ISSUE THAT A LOT OF THESE CARS ARE HAVING WITH THE ACTUATOR. I DID A LOT OF RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT THERE ARE TONS OF THESE CARS HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. I WAS ABLE TO QUICKLY GET THE DOOR UNLOCKED WITH THE KEY BUT THEN HAD TO CLIMB OVER THE SEAT TO GET THE BACK DOOR UNLOCKED... GOD FORBID I HAD TO RELY ON MY KEY FOB TO SAVE MY LIFE SOMEDAY! *JS
I WAS DRIVING MY 2009 CHEVY IMPALA TRAVELING AT ABOUT 45-50 MPH WHEN THE "REDUCE ENGINE POWER" MESSAGE CAME UP FOLLOWED BY "CHECK TRACTION CONTROL". THE CAR THEN BECAME SLUGGISH AND SLOWED DOWN TO ABOUT 15-20 MPH. IT THEN SHUT OFF WITHOUT WARNING AND IT SEEMS AS THOUGH THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT. I HAD MY DAUGHTER IN THE CAR WITH ME AND THANK GOD TRAFFIC WAS LIGHT BECAUSE WITH THAT HAPPENING IT WAS AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN. I AM CONCERNED BECAUSE IT SEEMS LIKE THIS HAS BEEN A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS CAR FOR A FEW YEARS AND THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL YET. IS GM WAITING FOR SOMEONE TO DIE. NO ONE SEEMS TO BE ABLE TO PINPOINT WHAT THE PROBLEM IS AND I DON'T THINK IT'S FAIR THAT SOMEONE HAS TO PAY MONEY TO FIX WHAT MAY BE A PROBLEM. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE BECAUSE THIS IS NOT SAFE AT ALL. I SEE A LOT OF IMPALAS IN MY TOWN AND IT'S SCARY TO THINK THAT AT ANY TIME THIS CAN HAPPEN TO ANY ONE OF THOSE CARS, MINE INCLUDED, AND SERIOUSLY HURT OR KILL SOMEONE. GM NEEDS TO STEP UP AND DO THE RESPONSIBLE THING FOR THE PEOPLE WHO INVESTED THEIR MONEY IN THE GM BRAND.
IN APRIL 2013, THE TRACTION CONTROL AND ABS WARNING LIGHT BEGAN COMING ON, IN MY 2009 IMPALA, WHEN MAKING A LEFT TURN. THE LIGHTS BEGAN TO COME ON MORE FREQUENTLY AND WOULD STAY ON FOR LONGER TIMES. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER BUT THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN AN ONGOING PROBLEM SINCE I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE.THE LIGHTS WOULD STAY ON FOR A LONGER PERIOD OF TIME. THE PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN FIXING BY THE DEALER. BUT THEY KEEP CHARGING ME $100 PER VISIT. *TR

IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND THE POSITION SENSORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 64,000.
THE TRACTION CONTROL, STABILITY TRACK AND ABS LIGHTS ALL CAME ON. THE ENGINE POWER REDUCED LIGHT CAME ON AND ENGINE POWER WAS LOWER. I HAD THE LEFT SPEED SENSOR REPLACED AND THE ACCELERATOR SENSOR REPLACE ON AUGUST 8TH AFTER THE DEALERSHIP HAD FIXED THIS PROBLEM IN APRIL AND AGAIN IN JUNE. I WAS TOLD THEY CHANGED SENSORS THEN ALSO, BUT I AM NOT SURE OF WHICH ONES AT THAT TIME. I AM NOW HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM FOR THE FORTH TIME. REPLACING THE SENSORS EVERY FEW MONTHS IS GETTING EXPENSIVE. ALSO NOT VERY SAFE. I CONTACTED GM AND THE WOMAN TOLD ME TO TAKE IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP TO BE FIXED AGAIN. I HAVE FIXED THE SAME ISSUE THREE TIMES ALREADY. THEY WERE OF NO HELP AT ALL. *TR
THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THE DOOR LOCK ACTUATORS AND THE RECIRCULATION DOOR ACTUATOR. THE DOOR LOOKS ARE NOW 98% MANUAL. EVERY ONCE-IN-AWHILE THEY WILL START WORKING AGAIN. THIS HAS LED TO A FEW INSTANCES OF MY VEHICLE BEING LOCKED AUTOMATICALLY WITH THE KEYS INSIDE. THIS CAN BE EXTREMELY HAZARDOUS WHEN IT COMES TO PETS AND CHILDREN. THERE IS A LOUD TAPPING BEHIND THE DASH DUE TO THE RECIRCULATION DOOR ACTUATOR. THIS CAN BE RATHER DISTRACTING AND WORRISOME WHEN IT STARTS HAPPENING FOR THE FIRST TIME WHILE YOU ARE DRIVING. THIS IS A COMMON AND KNOWN ISSUE FOR GM/ CHEVY VEHICLES DURING THIS TIME FRAME.
WHILE DRIVING, SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL WILL COME ON ALONG WITH THE ENGINE LIGHT, AND THEY FLICKER ON AND OFF, AND CAUSE THE CAR TO JERK, THE LOCKS TO RELOCK, MY FUEL GAUGE TO GO OUT OF PLACE, AND SOMETIMES CAUSE THE CAR TO TURN OFF. I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR TO AN ACTUAL CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP, BUT THEY STATED THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR BECAUSE THEY TRIED AND NO PROBLEMS WERE DIAGNOSED WHEN THEY USED THE SCAN TOOL. I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO. SOME PEOPLE SAY THAT IT MAY HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH MY TRANSMISSION; OTHERS SAY THAT IT IS SOMETHING ELECTRICAL; WHILE OTHERS SAY THAT A WIRE IS NOT CONNECTING OR IS TOUCHING SOMETHING. ONE DEALER STATED THAT THIS IS HAPPEN IN ALL 2007-2012 IMPALA ONCE THEY HIT A CERTAIN MILES. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHEVROLET IMPALA EQUIPPED WITH GOODYEAR EAGLE 2 TIRES, SIZE 225/55/R17. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVERS FRONT AND THE PASSENGER REAR TIRES STEEL BELT SEPARATED CAUSING THE TIRE TO BLOW OUT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE TIRES WERE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE AND TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 49,510. UPDATED 10/7/14*CN UPDATED 7/15/2015*JS
THE FIRST TIME WAS ABOUT THREE MONTHS AGO IN MARCH 2014 BUT THE ENGINE NEVER DIED THEN. IT JUST HAD LESS POWER AND WAS BETTER THE NEXT TIME I STARTED THE CAR. DON'T KNOW WHAT THE MILEAGE WAS THEN, MAYBE ABOUT 52K. IT HAPPENED A COUPLE TIMES THAT SAME WEEK AND I WAS GOING ABOUT 40MPH. I ASKED ABOUT IT IN APRIL WHEN THE CAR WAS INSPECTED AND WAS TOLD THEY DIDN'T SEE ANY PROBLEMS BUT THAT IT MIGHT BE A SENSOR GOING OUT. THEN, ON JULY 4TH IN THE MOUNTAINS IN MISSOURI WAS THE NEXT TIME, GOING ABOUT 70 MPH DOWNHILL AND THIS IS WHEN IT DIED WITH LIKE 3-5 SECOND WARNING. FIRST THE LIGHT COMES ON THAT SAYS SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL THEN IT SAYS ENGINE POWER REDUCED AND DIES. NOTHING WORKS EXCEPT THE BRAKES. THIS HAPPENED AGAIN ON 7/12, GOING ABOUT 70 MPH AGAIN, DIED AGAIN. WAS IN THE MIDDLE LANE ON FREEWAY AND NEARLY GOT HIT AS MY CAR BARELY MOVED AND HAD HARD TIME GETTING TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE CAR DID NOT DIE, BUT HAD VERY LITTLE POWER, STEERING WAS VERY HARD AND I FELT LIKE I WAS IN EXTREME DANGER BOTH OF THESE TIMES. THIS NEEDS TO BE RECALLED!!! SO MANY OTHER REPORTS OF SAME PROBLEM NOT JUST IN THE 2009 BUT LATER YEARS, WHERE THE MANUFACTURE SHOULD ALREADY KNOW THIS IS AN ISSUE, BUT KEEPS MAKING THE CAR THE SAME WAY. THIS IS A TOTAL OUTRAGE!!! I CANNOT GET ON THE FREEWAY FEELING ANY SECURITY AND DON'T HAVE MONEY TO KEEP MAKING COSTLY REPAIRS ON THIS VEHICLE. MANY OTHER PROBLEMS WITH THIS CAR, BUT NOT SAFETY ISSUES AT THIS POINT. *TR

CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO THE SEAT BELT RECALL NOTICE. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE WARNING LIGHT FOR THE READINESS AIR BAG FOR THE DRIVER SEAT BELT AS WELL AS THE AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONSUMER, ONLY THE ANCHOR WAS APART OF THE RECALL, AND IT WOULD COST$400 TO REPLACE THE SENSOR. *JB
MY CAR WOULD SHIMMY AS IF THE TIE ROD WAS GOING BAD, AND THE TIRE IN QUESTION WOULD BE FLAT NEARLY EVERY MORNING. AFTER A COUPLE OF DAYS I MADE IT TO HARTINGTON, NE TO THE NEAREST CHEVROLET DEALER. UPON INSPECTION THEY TOLD ME THAT I WAS VERY LUCKY TO HAVE MADE IT THERE BECAUSE THE BELTS SEPARATED ON THE INSIDE OF THE TIRE WHERE I WOULD HAVE NEVER SEEN WHAT WAS HAPPENING. BOTH FRONT TIRES WERE REPLACED AT GREAT EXPENSE. I NOW HAVE HANKOOK TIRES AND WILL NEVER AGAIN BUY GOODYEAR TIRES AFTER THIS INCIDENT. *TR
WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE TRACTION LIGHT CAME ON THEN I LOST COMPLETE POWER WHILE ON THE INTERSTATE GOING AT A SPEED OF 70MPH. I WAS IN THE FAR LEFT LANE AND HAD COMING TRAFFIC BEHIND ME. THE CAR COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN CAUSING ME TO LOSE ALL POWER ALMOST REAR ENDED AND TRYING TO MAKE MY WAY OVER CUTTING IN FRONT OF CARS SO THAT I WOULD NOT BE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE EXPRESSWAY WITH ON COMING TRAFFIC. WAS ABLE TO MAKE OVER TO THE MEDIAN AND THOUGHT IT WAS SOMETHING ELSE. SO THEN I WAITED THERE FOR 20 MIN UNTIL MY FRIEND ARRIVED TO HELP ME AND THE CAR CRANKED UP AND DROVE LIKE NOTHING WAS WRONG. SO I STARTED DRIVING AGAIN AND WITHIN 45 IT HAPPENED AGAIN. I WAITED A FEW MINS AND IT CRANKED UP. ABOUT A WEEK OR TWO LATER IT HAPPENED AGAIN AND HAS BEEN HAPPENING MORE. I DON'T MAKE MUCH MONEY AND DON'T HAVE IT TO TAKE TO A MECHANIC AND ITS MY ONLY SOURCE OF TRANSPORTATION. PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF THIS IS SOMETHING THAT HAS A RECALL. I HAVE SEEN AND READ THIS HAPPENING TO OTHER CARS IM WONDERING IF THEY MISSED A YEAR OR SOMETHING. *TR

THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED A SHOULDER AND UPPER BODY INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTIFICATION FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V355000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM); HOWEVER, THE PART NEEDED FOR THE REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 41,000.
KEY STUCK IN IGNITION AND WILL NOT RELEASE. REPAIRED TWICE UNDER WARRANTY PROBLEM STILL PERSISTS. NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ON INTERNET. GM HAS INTERNAL KNOWLEDGE OF ISSUE WITH PROPOSED WORKAROUND WHICH DOES NOT REMEDY THE ISSUE. THIS IS A POOR DESIGN. FREE STANDING CABLE IN SHIFT COLUMN MOVES AND BECOMES PINCHED OR SOLDER COMES LOOSE FROM HARNESS NOT ALLOW KEY TO BE RELEASED. VEHICLE CANNOT BE UNATTENDED DOORS CANNOT BE LOCKED LEFT STRANDED. VEHICLE IS NOW AT DEALER AND NO LONGER COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. TERRIBLE DESIGN BY GM. NOW FORCED TO PAY FOR A REPAIR WHICH WILL NOT HOLD UP AND THAT HAS ALREADY BEEN REPAIRED TWICE WELL UNDER WARRANTY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHEVROLET IMPALA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH AND MAKING A TURN, THE ENGINE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED WHEN MAKING A TURN. THE DEALER REPLACED THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE WHEEL BEARING, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 94,000.

SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL COMES UP AND REDUCE ENGINE POWER. NEVER HAD ANY PRIOR ISSUES WITH MY VEHICLE UNTIL NOW. JUST GOT IT BACK FROM THE DEALERSHIP TODAY AND HAVING TO TAKE IT BACK TOMORROW BECAUSE THE SAME THING OCCURRED AGAIN. I NEED THIS ISSUE RESOLVED AND AM NOT THE ONLY ON THAT HAS HAD THIS ISSUE. THE FAILURE WAS EXPERIENCED SEVERAL TIMES AND AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. A LOCAL MECHANIC PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC AND LOCATED THE FAILURE AT THE THROTTLE POSITIONING SENSOR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 48,000.
WAS DRIVING CAR AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON AND THEN CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. LOST POWER AND BRAKES. CAR WAS ABLE TO STOP BUT VERY HARD. GLAD NOBODY WAS IN FRONT OF ME OR I WOULD HAVE IT THEM. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND I THINK THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THE THROTTLE BODY AND SENSORS. I DID HAVE IT FIXED BUT HAD TO TAKE IT TO SEVERAL DEALERS TO FIGURE OUT IF IT WAS THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL OR THE THROTTLE BODY.IT WAS THE WHOLE THROTTLE BODY UNIT. *TR
I WAS DRIVING HOME ON THE FREEWAY AT ABOUT 70 MPH AND THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT WENT ON WITH IT SAYING "REDUCED ENGINE POWER" ON DISPLAY. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT REAR PASSENGER DOOR FAILED TO UNLOCK AND THE DRIVER'S DOOR WOULD NOT LOCK. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 24,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 26,000.
STOPPED AT THE TOP OF A SNOW COVERED HILL. PUT THE TRANSMISSION IN 2ND GEAR AND PROCEEDED DOWN THE HILL. THE VEHICLE GOT UP TO ABOUT 15 MPH THEN LOST ALL POWER; ENGINE QUIT, NO BRAKES, AND THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED IN PLACE. BECAUSE THE BRAKES WERE NOT WORKING THE VEHICLE GAINED SIGNIFICANT SPEED GOING DOWNHILL. NOT BEING ABLE TO STEER THE VEHICLE BECAUSE THE STEERING WHEEL WAS LOCKED IT WENT OFF THE ROAD AND HIT A TREE. UPON IMPACT THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY.
