THE DASH BOARD ON MY CAR IS CRACKED AROUND WHERE THE FRONT PASSENGER AIR BAG COMES OUT. I FEEL IT IS A HUGE SAFETY HAZARD FOR WHEN THE AIR BAG NEEDS TO DEPLOY. I FEEL THE CRACKED DASH BOARD MAY TURN INTO A SHARD OF HARD PLASTIC THAT COULD EITHER PIERCE THE AIR BAG OR HURT THE CORRESPONDING PASSENGER. I HAVE DONE RESEARCH AND SEEN THAT THIS ISSUE IS PREVALENT IN GENERAL MOTOR VEHICLE MODEL YEARS 2007-2013. NUMEROUS REPORTS HAVE BEEN MADE TO GENERAL MOTORS IN REGARDS TO THIS CRACKING. GENERAL MOTORS HAS DECLINED TO COMMENT TO EACH AND EVERY CLAIM BUT HAVE OFFERED SOME CUSTOMERS A HEFTY DISCOUNT TO REPLACE THEIR DASH. THE MAIN CALL TO ACTION HERE IS SAFETY. DASHES THAT ARE CRACKED IN PLACES AROUND THE PASSENGER AIRBAG CAN BECOME FLYING PROJECTILES IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT WHERE THE PASSENGER OR SIDE IMPACT AIRBAG DEPLOYS. PREVIOUSLY STATED, GENERAL MOTORS OBVIOUSLY RECOGNIZES THIS AS A PROBLEM BEING THAT IT HAS OFFERED PERSISTENT CUSTOMERS, WHO BRING UP THE VALIDITY OF SAFETY CONCERNS, A REPLACEMENT FOR $200 TO FREE. I BOUGHT MY 2009 CHEVROLET IMPALA USED IN APRIL 2015, AND SINCE THEN I HAVE HAD THE WARNING SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL, FOLLOWED BY ENGINE POWER REDUCED POP UP ABOUT A DOZEN TIMES, WITH VARYING LENGTHS BETWEEN INCIDENTS, BUT NOT UNTIL YESTERDAY DID THE CAR RESPOND IN ANY WAY. YESTERDAY I WAS ACCELERATING UP AN INTERSTATE ENTRANCE RAMP WHEN THE SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL MESSAGE POPPED UP, THEN ENGINE POWER REDUCED, AND I PAID LITTLE ATTENTION UNTIL QUICKLY AFTER THE SECOND MESSAGE I REALIZED I HAD NO POWER, I HAD THE ACCELERATOR TO THE FLOOR AND THE CAR WASN'T RESPONDING, THE ENGINE HAD SHUT DOWN. SO I TURNED ON MY HAZARD FLASHERS AND TRIED TO PULL OVER TO THE BERM, BUT HAD TO FIGHT THE DEAD STEERING WHEEL TO DO SO, THE POWER STEERING HAD STOPPED WORKING WHEN THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN. THE CAR WOULDN'T IMMEDIATELY RESTART ONCE I HAD COME TO A STOP, BUT AFTER LETTING IT SIT FOR A FEW MINUTES, IT STARTED AND I HAD NO FURTHER ISSUES GETTING HOME. I HAVE READ ABOUT THIS PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL VEHICLE HERE ON THIS WEBSITE, BUT THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THE ENGINE HAS SHUT DOWN ON ME AFTER THE TWO WARNING MESSAGES, AND I WAS VERY LUCKY THAT THERE WAS NO TRAFFIC IN THE LANE I WAS TRYING TO MERGE INTO WHEN IT DID HAPPEN.
WINDSHIELD CRACKED INSIDE WITHOUT ANY VISIBLE IMPACT. CRACK WIDENED WHILE DRIVING AT 65 MILES ON I 78 WHEN HEAT WAS TURNED ON. OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE WAS AROUND 40 DEGREES. NOW CRACK IS ALMOST ALL ACROSS WINDSHIELD. THE CRACK IS INSIDE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHEVROLET IMPALA. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, ALL THE DOORS FAILED TO UNLOCK ELECTRONICALLY. IN ADDITION, ALL THE DOORS FAILED TO OPEN MANUALLY INTERMITTENTLY. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE DOOR LOCK MECHANISM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS REMEDIED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V507000 (AIR BAGS, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM); HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 114,000.
AIR BAG LIGHT APPEARS SOMETIMES AND THEN GOES AWAY. HAVE BEEN TOLD BY MECHANIC THAT IT MAY BE A WIRING PROBLEM IN HE STEERING WHEEL. THE WARNING LIGHT COMES AND GOES. NO ONE THING THAT MAKES IT COME ON. COULD BE DRIVING VEHICLE AND IT WILL COME ON. SOMETIMES IT WILL COME ON AT START UP. THEN IT WILL GO AWAY FOR A WEEK OR TWO. SOMETIMES IT WILL STAY ON FOR A WEEK OR TWO. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN THE SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL CAME UP ON THE DASH ALONG WITH THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT, WITH IN SECONDS OF THIS HAPPENING THE CAR READ REDUCED ENGINE POWER. THE CAR IMMEDIATELY LOST POWER AND SLOWED DOWN TO A MAXIMUM OF 25 MPH. THIS SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER CAUSED THE CARS BEHIND ME TO NEARLY MISS REAR-ENDING ME. I HAD TO DRIVE IN THIS CRIPPLED MODE 10 MILES TO REACH THE CLOSEST EXIT. IT IS DUE TO A FAULTY THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR. THIS SEEMS TO BE A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THESE VEHICLES AND CAN CAUSE A SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY THE VEHICLE WOULD DISPLAY ENGINE REDUCE POWER MESSAGE THEN THE ENGINE WOULD REDUCE POWER AND STOP. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER ON 12-21-15 WITH 118755 MILES THEY SAID NO CODES. I STATED THE BATTERY DIED THEY SAID BRING IT BACK K IF IT DOES IT AGAIN. I TOOK THE CAR BACK ON 3-17-16 123236 MILES THE CODE WAS IN THE SYSTEM BUT THEY SAID IT IS NOT COVERED NOW OVER THE MILES. I CALLED GM ON 3-17-16 THEY SAID THEY WOULD LOOK INTO IT AND CALL ME BACK. GM CALLED BACK AND SAID THEY CAN'T HELP ME( CASE # 8-1882923571). I ASKED WHEN THE NOTICE WENT OUT AND HE SAID HE DIDN'T KNOW. I THINK THIS KNOWN SAFETY ISSUE SHOULD BE COVERED. THE DEALERSHIP WAS CHUCK NICHOLSON GMC DOVER OHIO 330-343-7781.
MY CAR WAS TAKEN INTO THE DEALER TO CHECK ON THE "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" WARNING AND I WAS INFORMED THAT THE COMPUTER SHOWED IT AS AN APPS ISSUE. THEY CHECKED THE APPS AND I WAS INFORMED THAT THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG AND THAT IT HAD BEEN RESET WITHIN THE COMPUTER SYSTEM AND I WAS GOOD TO GO. TWO MONTHS LATER WHILE TRAVELING AT A SPEED OF 55 MPH ON A HIGHWAY, THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, SERVICE STABILITRAK APPEARED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL, TRACTION CONTROL OFF LIGHT UP ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND THEN THE RING TONE AND THE "ENGINE POWER IS REDUCED" CAME ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE NEXT THING I KNEW WAS THAT I HAD ABSOLUTELY NO ACCELERATION AT ALL! I WAS EXTREMELY FORTUNATE THAT THE VEHICLES BEHIND ME WERE FAR ENOUGH BEHIND ME AND I WAS ABLE TO GET OFF OF THE ROAD AND ON TO THE SHOULDER. HAD THAT NOT BEEN THE CASE THERE COULD HAVE BEEN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT CAUSING NUMEROUS INDIVIDUALS TO BE INJURED OR KILLED. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED AND CHECKED AND IT WAS DEFINITELY THE APPS (ACCELERATOR PEDAL PERFORMANCE SENSOR) THAT WAS DEFECTIVE. NOW NEARLY 2 YEARS LATER, IT HAS HAPPENED AGAIN. THE EXACT SAME WARNINGS CAME ON AGAIN, ONLY THIS TIME I WAS TRAVELING IN INCLEMENT WEATHER AND DURING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS REGARDING THE EXACT SAME ISSUE AND CHEVROLET/GM NEEDS TO ISSUE A RECALL AS THE APPS IS DEFECTIVE. IF NO RECALL IS ISSUED IT IS A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE INNOCENT PEOPLE ARE KILLED.
"SERVICE AIRBAGS" DISPLAYED ON DASH. WILL COME IN AND GO OFF RANDOMLY. SEARCHING INTERNET I FOUND THIS LINK TO REPORT THE ISSUE. SEEMS AS IF THIS IS A DEFECT THAT SHOULD HAVE A RECALL ISSUED, ITS A SAFETY ISSUE!
I HAVE GOTTEN SERVERAL ERROR WITH CHECK SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL SINCE I PURCHASE THE USE CHEVELOT IMPALA LS 2009 BACK IN 2012. IT ALREADY HAD 88,000 MILES ON IT AND ABOUT A YEAR AFTER I HAD THE CAR I STARTED TO GET THIS MESSAGE. THE SECOND IT OCCURED I WAS ON FREEWAY AND THE ERROR CAME ON AND AFTER I GOT OFF ON THE EXIT MY CAR SHUT DOWN FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES BEFORE I WAS ABLE TO START IT BACK UP. NOW I HAVE THIS ERROR THIS TIME AND EVERY NOW AND AGAIN IT FEEL LIKE THE CAR WANTS TO JERK EVERY NOW AND AGAIN AND IF I PRESS THE GAS PEDAL DOWN TO QUICKLY THE LIGHT ERROR FLASH WITH THE CAR SIGN SWIRLING MESSAGE ON THE DASHBOARD.

MY NAME IS [XXX] AND I PURCHASED A 2009 CHEVY IMPALA, WITH 123,000 MILES ON IT, IN AUGUST 2015 FROM MAC CHURCHILL AUTO MALL IN BEDFORD, TEXAS. I HAVE HAD NO PROBLEMS WITH THIS CAR SINCE ITS PURCHASE UNTIL NOVEMBER 29TH. WHILE EN ROUTE TO EMORY, TEXAS, MY CAR STARTED DISPLAYING "ENGINE POWER IS REDUCED" AND "SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL" MESSAGES. ABOUT 99% OF THE WAY THERE, I SUDDENLY GOT A LURCH AND MY CAR SLOWED DOWN, WITH STEERING AND BRAKING NOT WORKING. I WAS ABLE TO GET MY CAR OFF THE HIGHWAY SAFELY BUT HAD TO USE MY EMERGENCY BRAKE TO STOP MY VEHICLE AND GET IT TURNED OFF. I TRIED REPEATEDLY FOR SEVERAL MINUTES TO GET IT GOING AGAIN, BUT IT WOULD NOT START. AFTER ABOUT FIVE MINUTES, THE CAR RESTARTED NORMALLY AND HAS PERFORMED FLAWLESSLY SINCE. HOWEVER, I AM CONCERNED. I'VE HAD A GARAGE PULL AND DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. THE ERROR CODES THAT WERE PULLED ARE P2122 AND P2138 ,REGARDING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL POSITION SENSOR. SINCE ABOUT A YEAR AFTER I OWNED THIS CAR I HAVE BEEN HAVING TIRE WEAR PROBLEMS AND NOISES COMING FROM THE FRONT END. I TOOK IT WHILE STILL UNDER WARRANTY TO THE DEALERSHIP ONLY TO BE TOLD IT WAS THE BRAKES STICKING AND THIS WAS NORMAL FOR THESE BRAKES ON THIS MODEL. SO I LET IT GO ONLY TO GET WORSE SO I TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC AND HE SAYS BOTH CONTROL ARMS ARE LOOSE A THE BUSHINGS ARE BAD AND HAVE TO BE REPALCED. I SEE THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS MODEL OF POLICE CARS I THINK YOU MAY NEED TO LOOK AT EXPANDING THIS. I ALSO ONLY HAVE 38300 MILES ON THIS CAR AND HAVE NEVER HAD TO REPLACE SUSPENSION PARTS ON A CAR THIS EARLY.

REPORTS SAY AC ACCUATOR, $400 TO REPLACE. GM NEEDS TO CORRECT THIS BEFORE IMPALAS ARE MISTAKENLY DEEMED THREATS WHEN SITTING IN PARKING LOTS.

THE PASSENGERS WERE ABLE TO EXIT THE VEHICLE AFTER MANUALLY UNLOCKING THE DOORS. THE FAILURE RECURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
HEAT / AIR ACTUATOR. THE MOTOR THAT CONTROLS THE HEAT / AIR IN THE DASH ON THE PASSENGER SIDE STARTED TO MAKE A HORRIBLE CLICKING NOISE WHEN THE CAR WAS OFF OR ON. IT WOULD START WHEN THE CAR DOOR WAS OPENED OR WHEN THE CAR WAS STARTED. I HAD TO TAKE IT TO A MECHANIC TO BE REPAIRED (NOT A DEALER...NOT GIVING THEM ANY MORE OF MY MONEY). IT COST OVER $200 TO BE REPAIRED.
THE RADIO HAS A SHORT IN IT AND HAS DRAINED TWO BRAND NEW BATTERIES AFTER IT SIT FOR OVER 12 HOURS.
FOR A FEW YEARS I'VE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE FIRST TIME WAS ROUGHLY TWO YEARS AGO WHEN THE CAR COMPLETELY LOCKED UP AND SHUT DOWN ON THE HIGHWAY JUST BEFORE RUSH HOUR. I RECEIVED AN ERROR CODE TO CHECK TRACTION CONTROL AND THAT THE ENGINE POWER IS BEING REDUCED. THE CAR THEN LOOSES SPEED DROPPING DRASTICALLY. THE FIRST TIME I WAS IN THE FAST LANE ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE VEHICLES COMPUTER SYSTEM SHUT DOWN. THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED MAKING IT VERY DIFFICULT TO VEER OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGH WAY. LUCKILY NO OTHER VEHICLES WERE DIRECTLY BEHIND ME, AND I WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY ACCIDENT FREE. I'VE NEVER BEEN SO AFRAID AND TERRIFIED IN MY LIFE. I FEAR THIS ISSUE WILL CAUSE FATALITIES THAT CAN BE PREVENTED. I HAD THE CAR SERVICED AT A CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP IN ANN ARBOR MI WHICH WAS AN EXPENSIVE FIX! SINCE I'VE HAD THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL REPLACED, THE VEHICLE HAS SHUT OFF TWO OTHER TIMES FOLLOWED BY THE SAME WARNING MESSAGE TO SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL AND ENGINE POWER BEING REDUCED. I'VE WRITTEN IN TO GM AND THEY CONTINUE TO REQUEST THAT I PAY A DIAGNOSTIC FEE AT A DEALERSHIP FOR THEM TO ADDRESS THE CAUSE. I CANT CONTINUE TO PAY $200-$300 FOR THIS FIX WHEN IT IS A MANUFACTURERS ISSUE. THIS RECALL HAS BEEN DONE ON OTHER CHEVROLET MODELS AND I AM PRAYING FOR A RECALL ON THE 2009 IMPALA. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE TO MY FAMILY AND THE DRIVERS WHO ARE AROUND ME. THE ISSUE IS STILL PRESENT AND IS A MAJOR CONCERN. OCTOBER 2015, WHILE DRIVING DISPLAY CAME UP WITH MESSAGE "SERVICE AIR BAG" WITH ICON ALSO SHOWING ON DISPLAY. CHECKING INTO THIS MESSAGE I FOUND THAT THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM AND THAT I CANNOT DEPEND ON HAVING AIR BAG PROTECTION IF IN AN ACCIDENT. CHECKING VARIOUS SOURCES ONLINE, FOUND HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS AND THAT WHEN MANY SERIOUS ACCIDENTS OCCURED, NO AIR BAGS DEPLOYED . CALLED MY GM DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT PROBLEM COULD BE CAUSED BY SEVERAL DIFFERENT PROBLEMS AND COULD MEAN INSTALLING NEW AIR BAGS AT A COST OF $1200.00. WITH ALL THE CURRENT RECALLS FOR THE TAKADE AIR BAGS, WHY ARE THESE AIR BAG DEFECTS ON THE CHEVOLET IMPALA'S NOT BEING RECALLED. THEY PRESENT A REAL DANGER TO PASSENGERS IN THESE CARS. IN SOME OF THE COMPLAINTS ONLINE, EVEN AFTER THE CARS WERE SERVICED BY THE DEALERS, THE PROBLEMS REOCCURED. I FEEL THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSURE AND SHOULD BE CONSIDERED AS SUCH.

THE ENGINE WAS THEN SHUT OFF AND COULD NOT BE RESTARTED. APPROXIMATELY FIVE MINUTES LATER, THE ENGINE WAS RESTARTED AND THE VEHICLE OPERATED AS NORMAL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 93,683.
I TOOK THE CAR TO HANK GRAFF CHEVROLET IN DAVISON, MI FOR WARRANTY WORK AND THE SERVICE AIRBAG SOON LIGHT WAS ON. THEY REPLACED SEATBELT TENSIONER ON THE PASSENGER SEAT AND THE LIGHT REMAINED OFF FOR A MONTH. NOW THE LIGHT IS ON AGAIN AND THE CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY. I BELIEVE THAT GM SHOULD STAND BEHIND THESE SAFETY MECHANISMS REGARDLESS OF ANY WARRANTY. I WAS TOLD THAT IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH THE AIRBAGS WOULD NOT DEPLOY IF THE WARNING LIGHT IS ON, YET I ABSOLUTELY REFUSE TO PAY FOR A PROBLEM WITH A SAFETY DEVICE INTENDED TO LAST THE LIFETIME OF THE CAR. GM CANNOT IGNORE FAULTY SAFETY EQUIPMENT LIKE THEY IGNORED THE FAULTY IGNITION SWITCHES.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE ACTUATOR BLEND DOOR WAS FRACTURED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 124,000.

AIR BAG ALARM LIGHT TURNED ON FOR MORE THAN ONE WEEK. PREVIOUS CORRECTIVE ACTIONS IMPLEMENTED BY CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP ARE IN QUESTION AND NOT EFFECTIVE AS THE ISSUE HAS RETURNED. PREVIOUS INCIDENT REPORTED FOR SAME ISSUE JULY 2014 ODI NUMNER 10615989 ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR ISSUES WERE DIAGNOSED BY THE DEALERSHIP, DEALERSHIP IDENTIFIED FRETTING FAILURES, IMPLEMENTED CORRECTIVE ACTIONS. DEALER IS CHARGING SERVICE FEES FOR SAFETY RELATED AIR BAG FAILURES, THE DEALER SHOULD NOT BE CHARGING FEES FOR REPAIRS, THIS ISSUE SHOULD BE TREATED AS A RECALL. THE DEALER SHOULD NOT BE PASSING COST OF REPAIRS TO THE CUSTOMER FOR VITAL SAFETY SYSTEMS OF THE EQUIPMENT.
WAS DRIVING ALONG AT 55MPH AND THE SERVICE TRACTION SYSTEM LIGHT CAME ON FOLLOWED BY THE REDUCED ENGINE POWER LIGHT. THEN THE CAR JUST COMPLETLY DIED. I WAS ABLE TO GET TO RIGHT SHOULDER AND PARK IT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 180,000.
SERVICE AIRBAG LIGHT HAD BEEN COMING ON INTERMITTENTLY FOR A FEW MONTHS NOTICED IT HAPPENED WHEN IT WAS COLD AND OR WHEN MAKING LEFT TURNS UNTIL IT CAME ON INDEFINITELY RECALL AFTER RECALL I HOPED SHOULD RESOLVE EVERY TIME THEY SAY IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH RECALL AT TIME OF SERVICE/RECALL CORRECTION.
WHEN I START THE CAR, I GOT A SERVICE AIR BAG MESSAGE. IT STAYED ON FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES. THIS HAS BEEN AN INTERMITTENT ISSUE.
AIRBAG ISSUE SINCE I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE FROM THE GSA IN FEBRUARY 2015. PICKED UP THE VEHICLE IN BROWNSVILLE TEXAS AND THE AIRBAG LIGHT WAS ON. DIGITAL INDICATOR REQUESTED THAT THE AIRBAG SYSTEM BE SERVICED. NEVER HAD THE SYSTEM CHECKED UNTIL TODAY 8/29/2015 BY MY MECHANIC. FOUND THAT THERE ARE MELTED WIRES UNDER THE PASSENGER SEAT.AFFECTING THE AIRBAG SYSTEM OPERABILITY.
MY WIFE AND I WERE DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE AT APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH. A LIGHT ON THE DASH CAME ON SAYING ENGINE POWER REDUCED. AT THAT POINT MY VEHICLE SLOWED DOWN TO NEARLY 20 MPH WHILE I WAS STILL ON THE INTERSTATE IN MODERATE TRAFFIC. I PULLED OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TURNED MY VEHICLE OFF TO TRY TO INVESTIGATE THE PROBLEM. AT THAT POINT MY VEHICLE WOULD NOT START FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES. AFTER GETTING MY VEHICLE TO START I IMMEDIATELY DROVE IT HOME. THIS ISSUE COULD HAVE CAUSED A VERY SERIOUS ACCIDENT THAT WOULD HAVE INJURED MY WIFE AND I, BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY OUR 7 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER RIDING IN THE BACK SEAT ALONG WITH ANY ONE ELSE INVOLVED. I HAVE BEEN ON MANY DIFFERENT FORUMS TRYING TO FIGURE OUT THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM, AND IT SEEMS THERE ARE MANY PEOPLE WITH THIS EXACT PROBLEM ON THEIR CHEVROLET IMPALAS.

THE CAR HAS ERRATIC SHIFTING. IT SEEMS AS IF THE GEARS GET STUCK BEFORE THEY RELEASE ESPECIALLY WHEN SLOWING DOWN THEN TAKING OFF, LIKE IF YOU DO A ROLLING STOP OR SLOW DOWN AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT BUT DON'T STOP FULLY BEFORE ACCELERATING AGAIN. IT DOES NOT DO IT EVERYTIME YOU DRIVE THOUGH. THERE IS ALSO A CLICKING COMING FROM BEHIND THE DASH. THE ACTUATOR FOR AIR HAS GONE BAD.

IT HAPPENED MAYBE 1-2 TIMES PER YEAR FOR THE LAST FEW YEARS. THE MESSAGE WOULD CLEAR ITSELF AFTER THE CAR WAS TURNED OFF AND SAT FOR A FEW MINUTES. ON JULY 24TH, MY CAR EXPERIENCE THESE SAME MESSAGES ONCE AGAIN. HOWEVER, THE MESSAGE CAME AND WENT MULTIPLE TIMES AND ALL SPEEDS IN TOWN AND ON THE HIGHWAY. THE MESSAGE FINALLY STAYED AND DID NOT GO AWAY ON JULY 25TH. I SCHEDULED SERVICE AT THE LOCAL DEALER ON THURSDAY, JULY 30. THEY CHANGED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND THOUGHT IT WAS AN ISSUE THAT GM ISSUED A SPECIAL CONDITION ON IN APRIL 2015. ON THE WAY HOME FROM THE SHOP, THE MESSAGE APPEARED AGAIN. THUS, THE CAR WAS AGAIN SERVICED AT THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP ON FRIDAY, JULY 31. BY AUGUST 1, THE "SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL" LIGHT BLINKED ON AND THEN WENT OFF QUICKLY. IT DID THE SAME THING ONE TIME ON AUGUST 2ND. TODAY, AUGUST 3RD, THE LIGHT WENT OFF THREE TIMES IN A SHORT DRIVE AND IS ONCE AGAIN STUCK ON. I'M VERY WORRIED THAT THE REDUCED ENGINE SPEED WILL RETURN WHEN I AM ON A HIGHWAY. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE BY GM OR THEY WOULDN'T HAVE ISSUED A SPECIAL CONDITION. THEY ONLY WILL FIX THIS UP TO 120,000 MILES. IF MY ENGINE TURNS OFF WHILE MOVING AT 70MPH ON HIGHWAY, THIS WILL BE HUGE SAFETY CONCERN.
