MY FAMILY WAS DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE AT 70 MPH, ALL OF THE SUDDEN THESE MESSAGES STARTED TO APPEAR ON THE MESSAGE CENTER. ENGINE POWER HAS BEEN REDUCED, SOMETHING ABOUT TRACTION CONTROL AND ANOTHER MESSAGE THAT I CAN NOT REMEMBER. THE CAR THEN LOST ALL POWER, IT SHUT OFF COMPLETELY. WE DID MAKE IT OVER TO THE "SLOW" LANE, BUT THERE WE SAT ON THE INTERSTATE WITH TRAFFIC ALL AROUND US. THE CAR WOULD NOT START!!! NEED LESS TO MY GIRLS AND MY SELF WERE TERRIFIED THAT WE WOULD BE HIT. AFTER ABOUT 10 MINUTES THE CAR DID START AGAIN AND WE MADE IT TO OUR DESTINATION. WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT SPEED 55 MPH ALL THE INSTRUMENT GAUGES WENT TO ZERO NOTHING WAS REGISTERING AT ALL THIS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES WHILE DRIVING. IT HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES AFTER THAT FOR THE NEXT 2 MONTHS. THEN IT WOULD NOT START. HAD TO TOW TO DEALER. *TR
ON 8/15/14 WE CAME OUT TO THE VEHICLE AND IT WOULD NOT START. NO POWER AT ALL AND THE KEY WOULD NOT COME OUT OF IT. LEFT THE VEHICLE SIT OVERNIGHT AND SAME THING IN THE MORNING ON 8/16/14. WE CALLED AND GOT A JUMP FROM A TOW TRUCK AND DROVE THE VEHICLE HOME. WHILE TRAVELING HOME ON THE INTERSTATE (70 MPH), MY HUSBAND NOTICED THAT WHEN HE TURNED THE DRIVING LIGHTS ON THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF. (LUCKILY HE KNEW WHAT TO DO AND MANAGED TO NOT KILL ALL OF US IN THE VEHICLE AND ANYONE AROUND THE VEHICLE; (2 ADULTS AND 2 CHILDREN IN VEHICLE;) HE ALSO NOTICED THAT WHEN HE SIGNALED A LANE SWITCH THE CRUISE CONTROL WOULD TURN ITSELF OFF. WE GOT THE VEHICLE BACK TO OUR HOUSE, WAITED 15 MINUTES AND TRIED RESTARTING AND THE BATTERY WAS COMPLETELY DEAD AGAIN. (NO DOME LIGHT, BELLS OR ANYTHING WHEN OPENING THE DOOR). SINCE THEN, HE HAS TRIED PUTTING A DIFFERENT BATTERY IN IT AND WE GET THE SAME RESULTS. WHEN WE GOT HOME WE DID A GOOGLE SEARCH AND FOUND SEVERAL OTHERS THAT THIS SAME THING HAS HAPPENED TOO. LUCKILY NO ONE HAS BEEN KILLED FROM IT BUT IT IS EXTREMELY SCARY WHEN YOUR VEHICLE TURNS OFF DOING 70 MPH. I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO INFORM YOU THAT THERE WAS NO WARNING WHATSOEVER THAT THE BATTERY WAS LOW OR THERE WERE ANY ELECTRICAL COMPLICATIONS GOING ON WITH THE VEHICLE. THERE IS NO VOLTAGE METER ANYWHERE ON THE VEHICLE. NO WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON EITHER.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN A STREET AND STARTED TO TURN AND THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT. I HAD TO REPLACE THE POWER STEERING PUMP. MY CAR IS INCLUDED IN THE RECALL AND IT MENTIONED THE STEERING COULD GO . I WAS DRIVING MY CAR ON THE HWY GOING ABOUT 70-75 MPH WHEN IT HAPPENED TO ME. THE ROAD CONDITION WAS NICE WITH NO SIGNS OF WATER ON THE HIGHWAY DURING THE HOURS OF 2 PM, GREAT SUNNY DAY. THE CAR JERKED ON ME LIKE THE THROTTLE WAS GOING DOWN. AFTERWARDS THE CAR JERKED AGAIN AND THE TRACTION LIGHT NOTIFICATION STARTED TO BEEP AND THE CAR IDLED DOWN AND I COULDN'T INCREASE MY SPEED. I CONTINUED ON THE HWY ASSUMING IT WOULD RECTIFY ITSELF BUT MY GIRL (WHO MAINLY DRIVES THE CAR), INFORMED ME IT'S BEEN DOING THIS FOR OVER THE PAST YEAR OFF AND ON PROBABLY ONCE EVERY OTHER MONTH. THAT THE WEATHER CONDITION DIDN'T MATTER IT WOULD POP UP AND SLOW DOWN AND SHE'D HAVE TO PULL OVER AND WAIT ABOUT 10 MINUTES AFTER TURNING OFF THE CAR TO TURN IT BACK ON TO BE ABLE TO CONTINUE ABOUT HER DAY NORMALLY. I CONTINUED TO DRIVE BUT IT NEVER DID FIX ITSELF. I HAD TO FINALLY TAKE AN EXIT AND STOPPED AT A GAS STATION. MIGHT AS WELL TAKE A BREAK WHILE. AFTER ABOUT 10-15 MINUTES, I CRANKED THE CAR AND THE ISSUE SEEMED TO RESOLVE ITSELF AND I HAD NO FURTHER PROBLEMS THROUGHOUT THE REST OF THE DAY. *TR

I RECEIVED A SAFETY RECALL FROM GM IN AUGUST OF 2014 FOR MY IGNITION ON A RECALL THAT HAD BEEN OUT SINCE JULY. THEY ARE GOING TO FIX THE VEHICLE BUT THE PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE. THIS IS NOW THE MIDDLE OF SEPTEMBER THE PARTS STILL ARE NOT IN AND IT WILL PROBABLY BE THE FIRST PART OF OCTOBER BEFORE THEY ARRIVE ACCORDING TO GM. HOW CAN YOU RECALL A CAR FOR A SAFETY ISSUE AND NOT HAVE THE PARTS TO REPAIR THE CAR? APPARENTLY THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE OR MY NOTICE WOULD NOT SAY THE KEY RING IS CARRYING ADDS WEIGHT AND THE VEHICLE GOES OFF ROAD OR EXPERIENCES SOME JARRING EVENT, IT MAY UNINTENTIONALLY MOVE THE KEY AWAY FROM THE "RUN" POSITION. IF THIS OCCURS, ENGINE POWER, POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKING WILL BE AFFECTED, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH. IF THE IGNITION SWITCH IS NOT IN THE RUN POSITION, THE AIR BAGS MAY NOT DEPLOY IF THE VEHICLE IS INVOLVED IN A CRASH, INCREASING THE RISK OF INJURY OR FATALITY. GM IS ALREADY HAD NUMEROUS PROBLEMS AND THIS IS ONLY INCREASING THE RISK OF MORE. WHAT CAN BE DONE ABOUT THIS ISSUE? *TR

ADDITIONALLY, THE GEARS WERE DIFFICULT TO SHIFT AND EXCESSIVE FORCED WAS REQUIRED IN ORDER TO SHIFT GEARS. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. DRIVING DOWN BUSY HWY GOING 75 SPEED, ENGINE POWER REDUCE MESSAGE CAME ON ALSO TRACTION CONTROL MESSAGE, I BEEN GETTING THIS MESSAGE OVER A YEAR IN A HALF TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC THEY COULDN'T SEEM TO FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT, SINCE THE MESSAGE WOULD GO AWAY AFTER TEN MINUTES OR SO I NEVER TAUGHT WAS ANYTHING MAJOR TILL MY CAR SHOWED THE MESSAGE STARTER DISABLED SERVICE THROTTLE CAME ON BASICALLY LETTING ME KNOW MY CAR WAS GOING TO LOCK ON ME OR SOMETHING AND WITH A FEW SECONDS MY SPEED REDUCED MORE AND I COULD NOT PUSH D GAS ANYMORE I HAD TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD IN DISBELIEF OF WHAT JUST HAPPENED AND SCARED SO I PARKED AND TURNED OFF MY CAR THEN I TRIED TO TURN IT ON AND IT WOULDN'T EVEN START OR MAKE A STARTING NOISE THE STEERING WHEEL WAS LOCKED AND I COULDN'T DO ANYTHING, I WAITED AT LEAST TEN MINUTES AND I TRIED AGAIN AND IT TURNED ON THE MESSAGE WAS GONE BUT THE CHECK ENGINE WAS STILL ON. TROUGH THE DAY THIS INCIDENT DIDN'T HAPPEN ANYMORE BUT I WENT ON LINE AND I SEE A LOT OF PEOPLE WITH THE SAME MODEL CAR AS ME ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM!. *TR

CAR WAS CHECKED OUT FOR ELECTRICAL NOISE COMING FROM THE DASHBOARD FROM CHEVROLET DEALER AND SAID THAT THE VEHICLE HAD A ELECTRICAL PROBLEM WITHIN THE DASHBOARD AREA (PART- AIR INLET RECIRCULATION VALVE, ACTUATOR) WHICH IS WHY WE HEARD LOUD CLICKING NOISES, NOISES WOULD AT TIME CONTINUE EVEN WHEN THE CAR WAS IN OFF POSITION. BUT THREE DAYS LATER TOOK THE CAR TO MY TRUSTED MECHANIC TO HAVE ISSUE FIXED (NON-DEALER) AND MECHANIC NOTICED THAT THE STEERING COLUMN WAS BROKEN (PART: RACK-AND-PINION), AND SAID THAT IT HAS BEEN THIS WAY FOR AWHILE. MECHANIC SHOWED ME EXACTLY WHAT THEY SAW AND INDEED THE COLUMN WAS BROKEN. MECHANIC SAID THAT HE IS SURPRISED WE HAVE NOT HAD AN ACCIDENT DUE TO THIS ISSUE AND THAT WE COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED OR KILLED SOMEONE ELSE AND THAT IT NEEDS TO BE FIXED ASAP. *TR
FOR THE LAST FEW MONTHS OFF AND ON MY CHEVY IMPALA HAS STARTING JERKING AFTER TAKING OFF EVEN IF I BARELY PRESS THE GAS PEDAL. IT'S LIKE IT'S STUCK IN GEAR WHEN DRIVING NOT SHIFTING BUT THEN IT DRIVES NORMALLY. I ALMOST GOT REAR ENDED BECAUSE AFTER A STOP AT A LIGHT I STARTED TO TAKE OFF BUT IT HESITATED AND JERKED. HAVE BEEN TALKING TO OTHER CHEVY IMPALA OWNERS EVEN SOME OF THE PREVIOUS GENERATIONS AND THE SAME ISSUE HAS OCCURED WITH THEM ALSO. THIS NEEDS TO BE LOOKED INTO YOU PAY GOOD MONEY FOR A VEHICLE YOU EXPECT IT TO PERFORM AS IT'S SUPPOSE TO. *JS
LOOSE IGNITION KEY. *TR
I TRIED TO START THE CAR BUT EVERYTHING WAS DEAD. NO WARNING LIGHTS WERE ON. THE KEY WOULD NOT COME OUT OF THE IGNITION. THE BATTERY WAS ONLY TWO DAYS OLD AND IT CHECKED GOOD. I HAD IT TOWED TO THE CHEVY DEALER. THE DEALER HAD THE CAR FOR ALMOST A WEEK ,THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THIS WAS THE THIRD TIME THEY HAVE TRIED TO FIX IT. SINCE THE PROBLEM WASN'T SOLVED I CAN NOT TRUST THE CAR AND MY WIFE CAN NOT DRIVE IT AS YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN IT WILL FAIL. I HAVE ALSO HAD FOUR ACTUATORS AND TWO COOLING FAN MOTORS REPLACED THAT WERE SUPPOSED TO SOLVE MY PROBLEM. DIDN'T WORK! EITHER GM CAN'T FIX THE PROBLEM OR WON'T. I CAN'T TELL WHICH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT BELT PETITIONER SENSOR WAS FAULTY. THE SENSOR WAS REPLACED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 63,000.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN ATTEMPTING TO TURN OFF THE VEHICLE, THE KEY BECAME LODGED INTO THE IGNITION AND WOULD NOT MOVE PASS THE ACC POSITION CAUSING THE BATTERY TO DRAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 105,000.

I HAD TO TRY TO STEER TO THE SHOULDER WITH NO POWER STEERING OR BRAKES. ONCE THERE, I TRIED TO RESTART THE CAR AND NOTHING HAPPENED - IT DISPLAYED "STARTER DISABLED." WE CALLED OUR ROAD SERVICE AND THEY TOOK OUR INFO, FOUND THE NEAREST CHEVY DEALER WHO SAID THEY COULD WORK ON IT ASAP IF WE GOT IT IN THERE. WHILE THEY WERE WORKING ON SETTING UP A TOW I TRIED STARTING IT AGAIN. IT STARTED BUT THE CHECK ENGINE WAS STILL ON. I TRIED DRIVING A LITTLE ALONG THE SHOULDER AND IT SEEMED OK SO I SAID WE'D TRY DRIVING TO THE DEALER RATHER THAN WAIT FOR A TOW TRUCK. WE MADE IT.
