WHILE DRIVING DOWN I 80 WEST OF PRINCETON ILL THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON FOLLOWED BY THE CHECK TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT .THE DASH THEN LIGHT UP LIKE A CHRISTMAS TREE WITH LIGHTS I HAD NEVER SEEN AND CAN NOT DUPLICATE WITH TURNING THE KEY TO ON .THE CAR IMMEDIATELY DIED AND I LOST POWER STEERING AND BRAKES .I GOT THE CAR STOPPED SAFELY .I CALLED A MECHANIC IN THE TOWN I LIVE IN AND HE ASKED IF IT WOULD START AGAIN. EARLIER WHEN I TRIED TO START IT ACTED AS THOUGH THE BATTERY WAS DEAD. THIS TIME IT STARTED AND I DROVE IT HOME .A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP REPLACED THE GAS PEDAL .I HAD BOUGHT THIS CAR NEW AND IT HAS NEVER BEEN IN A CRASH OR HAD ANY REPAIRS DONE BESIDES ROUTINE SERVICE. NO ONE WAS HURT BUT THIS CAR SHOULD NOT HAVE SHUT OFF AT 70 MPH BECAUSE OF A DEFECTIVE SENSOR ON A GAS PEDAL.I AM A RETIRED STATE TROOPER AND I AM SURE MY TRAINING SAVED ME FROM BEING IN AN ACCIDENT YESTERDAY BECAUSE I HAPPENED TO HAVE OTHER CARS AND SEMI S DRIVING NEAR ME. *TR
IT DOESN'T MATTER IF THE CAR IS RUNNING OR NOT THE ACTUATORS TO THE AIR CONDITIONER AND HEATING UNIT START CLICKING AND MAKING A LOUD NOISE. AFTER A FEW MINUTES IT WILL STOP. I WENT AND HAD IT CHECKED BY THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD IT WOULD COST BETWEEN 500 AND 600 DOLLARS TO FIX. IN ANY EVENT I HAVE TALKED TO SEVERAL PEOPLE WHO OWN IMPALAS AND THEY HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. MY SISTER WAS ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE. SHE HAD TO TAKE HER CAR BACK TWICE BEFORE IT WAS REPAIRED CORRECTLY. APPARENTLY THE COMPUTER CHIP IN THESE CARS ARE DEFECTIVE. THE CLICKING NOISE HAPPENS EVEN WHEN THE CAR IS SITTING IN THE GARAGE AND IT IS STORMING OUTSIDE. I FEEL THIS IS A MANUFACTURING PROBLEM AND GENERAL MOTORS SHOULD TAKE CARE OF THE PROBLEM WITHOUT ANY OUT OF POCKET MONEY FROM THE CONSUMER. AFTER ALL THE TAXPAYERS DID BAIL YOU OUT. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT FUEL FUMES EMITTED THROUGH THE AIR CONDITIONING VENTS AND THE KEY WOULD NOT COME OUT OF THE IGNITION. THE FAILURE OCCURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH MIGHT BE FAULTY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. CAR JUST STOPPED RUNNING WE WERE ABLE TO COAST TO A STOP ON A 6 LANE HWY GOING AROUND ST PAUL. I HAVE WRITTEN ON HERE BEFORE TELLING OF WHAT HAPPENED.AND HOW CHEVROLET SAID ITS NOT A PROBLEM WITH YOUR CAR. SO I CALLED BACK TODAY AND SAID I SEE ITS YOUR PROBLEM NOW,SO WHAT DO I DO THEY SAY WE HAVE NO FIX YET, BUT TAKE IT IN AND LET THEM SEE WHATS WRONG. FIRST ITS OUT OF WARRT. IT HAD SNOWED OVERNIGHT AND I WAS DRIVING 60 MILES PER HOUR GOING DOWNHILL WHEN THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT AND THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THEN WHERE THE ODOMETER READING IS IT SAID ENGINE POWER REDUCED AND THEN CHECK TRACTION CONTROL AND CHECK STABILIZER. I DID MAKE IT TO WORK AS THE CAR SHOCK AS THE CAR FELT LIKE IT WAS GOING TO DIE. I DID LET IT SIT ALL DAY WHILE I WAS AT WORK AND THEN WHEN I STARTED IT THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS STILL ON AND IT RAN OK. I TOOK IT ACROSS THE STREET AND PARKED IT AT THE CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP AND SINCE IT IS SUNDAY THEY ARE NOT OPEN AND I WILL STOP BY IN THE MORNING TO LET THEM KNOW WHAT IS WRONG TO HAVE THEM CHECK IT OUT. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY AND SENSOR ISSUES. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED WHILE DRIVING, THE TRACTION CONTROL AND ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED, AND THEN THE INSTRUMENT PANEL READ ENGINE REDUCED POWER, CHECK STABILITRAK AND TRACTION CONTROL. AS SHE APPROACHED THE STOP SIGN, THE VEHICLE STARTED TO SHAKE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHERE A DIAGNOSIS REVEALED THE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY AND SENSOR HAD MALFUNCTIONED. *JB

TRACTION CONTROL, STABILTRAK SYSTEM ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON REDUCED ENGINE POWER, THIS HAS HAPPEN A LOT OVER THE COUPLE MONTHS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REDUCED ENGINE POWER WARNING LAMP AND THE SERVICE STABILITY TRACTION CONTROL WARNING LAMP ILLUMINATED. EACH TIME THE FAILURE RECURRED, THE SPEED DECREASED TO LESS THAN 20 MPH AND THE VEHICLE SHOOK AND VIBRATED ABNORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHO REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY POSITION SENSOR. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL POSITION SENSOR WAS TO BE REPLACED IN A SPECIAL CONDITION COVERAGE CUSTOMER SATISFACTION CAMPAIGN. THE FAILURE DID NOT RECUR FROM THE DEALER'S REPAIR WHICH WAS OVER A YEAR AGO. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,700. *CN

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO WAS UNABLE TO REPLICATE OR DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE FOR MONTHS. THE CONTACT HAD TO RESTART THE VEHICLE IN ORDER TO RESET THE COMPUTER ON A CONSISTENT BASIS TO START THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT LATER RECEIVED A RECALL NOTIFICATION FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V355000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) AND STATED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THE DEALER DID NOT GIVE A SPECIFIC DATE AS TO WHEN THE PARTS WOULD BE AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALSO UNABLE TO PROVIDE AN ESTIMATED DATE FOR WHEN THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE WOULD BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.

LOSS OF POWER, SERVICE STABILITRAC, SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL STARTED FLASHING...THE CAR LOST ALL POWER, SHIFTED EXTREMELY HARD AND WOULD ONLY GO ABOUT 5 TO 10 MILES PER HOUR. I WAS ON A MAIN ROAD WITH A LOT OF TRAFFIC WHEN THIS HAPPENED, EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE GM DEALER THE FIRST DAY, THEY COULD NOT FIND THE CODE AND THE CAR RAN FINE ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK. THE NEXT MORNING IT DID IT AGAIN, TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY WHICH COSTS ALMOST $700. THAT WAS IN FEBRUARY, I AM NOW 400 MILES FROM HOME AND IT IS DOING THE EXACT SAME THING AGAIN....GOING TO CALL A DEALER TODAY AND HOPEFULLY IT WILL BE TAKEN CARE OF AT NO COST. I CALLED GM ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND THEIR RESPONSE WAS THAT THERE IS NO RECALL ON THIS VIN# AT THIS TIME, YET I KNOW THERE ARE RECALLS OUT DUE TO THE THROTTLE BODY. *TR
DRIVING ABOUT HALF MILE FROM HOME, SUDDENLY SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT, SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL AND REDUCE ENGINE POWER MESSAGE TURN ON. CAR START TO LOSE POWER. AFTER DRIVING ANOTHER 2 MILES, WENT TO A PARKING LOT. ENGINE BEGAN ROUGH. PARK THE CAR AND WENT SHOPPING. ABOUT 1 HR. LATER THE CAR START FINE AND RUNNING NORMAL, EXCEPT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STILL ON . PARK CAR IN GARAGE. NEXT DAY, START THE CAR, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL & REDUCE ENGINE POWER MESSAGE TURN ON. BACK IN/OUT GARAGE AND TURN ENGINE ON/OFF 3 TIMES. ENGINE IS VERY ROUGH. BACK TO GARAGE. NEXT DAY. START THE CAR, ENGINE RAN NORMAL WITH CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURN ON. DROVE THE CAR AROUND A CIRCLE AND BACK TO GARAGE. RUNS FINE. GOT INTO INTERNET AN FOUND ABOUT A LOT OF COMPLAINS(100S) ON THIS CAR (2010 & EARLIER CHEVY IMPALA) FOR THE SAME PROBLEM, WITH REPORT OF DANGEROUS INCIDENCE ON THE HIGHWAY. I AM AFRAID TO USE IT AGAIN UNTIL IT IS FIXED. I HOPE A RECALL SHOULD BE MADE FOR THE DEFECT. THIS CAR IS IN GARAGE, AND IS SELDOM USE BECAUSE I HAVE 3 CARS, AND I AM RETIRED. *TR
I WAS DRIVING AND MY CARS ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON 1ST THEN THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT. WHEN THEY CAME ON IT REDUCED POWER TO MY ENGINE AND QUIT ON THE INTERSTATE. I HAD LOOKED UP POSSIBLE CAUSES WHEN I HAD A TEST RAN IT WAS SHOWING THROTTLE BODY I REPLACED IT AND IT NEVER FIXED IT UPON RESEARCH I HAVE SEEN MULTIPLE PEOPLE WHO OWNS IMPALAS FROM THE YEARS 2009 AND UP HAVING THE SAME ISSUES AND FEEL IT IS SOMETHING THAT NEEDS TO BE LOOKED INTO. WHAT I HAVE FOUND IDK YET I AM WAITING ON THE PIECE TO SEE IF THIS IS THE ISSUE OR NOT IS THE PEDAL SENSOR COULD BE THE CAUSE. BUT I FEEL IT CAN BE UNSAFE BECAUSE MY CAR HAD QUIT ON A BUSY INTERSTATE WITH CARS TRAVELING AT THE SPEED OF 65MPH AND HIGHER. JUST WHEN I WAS LOOKING IT UP I HAD SAW SO MANY OTHER PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME ISSUES WITH THEIR IMPALAS. PLEASE LOOK INTO IT THANK YOU .\ *TR

MY IMPALA KEEPS GIVING ME A WARNING LIGHT THAT SAY SERVICE STABILITRAK, SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL AND ENGINE POWER REDUCED. IT STAY ON FOR A LITTLE WHILE AND THEN GOES OFF. CANNOT SEEM TO FIND OUT WHY IT IS DOING THIS BUT VERY CONCERNED THAT MY CARS SPEED WILL REDUCE WHILE I AM IN TRAFFIC. *TR
THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK FOR THE LAST 2 MONTHS. HAD TO PUT A NEW BATTERY IN AND THEN THE MESSAGE LIGHT CAME ON TO SERVICE THE AIR BAG....THEY SAID A MODULE WENT OUT UNDER THE DRIVERS SEAT AND UNDER THE LEFT FRONT BUMPER.......IT WILL COST $ 1030 + TAX...ONLY 43,000 MILES ON THE CAR. I CANT AFFORD TO HAVE IT FIXED AND I'M TOLD THAT THE AIRBAG WONT WORK IF I GET IN AN ACCIDENT TILL I GET IT FIXED.........WOULD THAT KEEP MY INSURANCE FROM PAYING IF I DO GET IN AN ACCIDENT AND THEY SEE THE AIR BAG SHOULD HAVE BEEN SERVICED?? *TR
WHILE DRIVING AT 30 MPH THE TRAK STABILIZATION LIGHT CAME ON WITH A WARNING THAT ENGINE POWER WAS REDUCED. I STOPPED THE CAR AND SHUT OFF FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES. WHEN I RESTARTED THE CAR, THE WARNINGS CAME BACK ON AGAIN. I WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT TO MY DESTINATION SAFELY. WHEN I GOT BACK IN THE CAR APPROXIMATELY 6 HOURS LATER, THE CAR STARTED FINE WITH THE ONLY WARNING BEING THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. I DROVE HOME AND CALLED MY LOCAL REPAIR TO LOOK AT IT. THE NEXT DAY WHEN I STARTED IT THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS AT ALL AND MY LOCAL DEALER CHECK THE SENSORS AND COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. THIS HAPPENED AGAIN ABOUT 30 DAYS LATER AND HAS CONTINUED TO HAPPEN 4 TIMES SINCE THEN. EACH TIME AFTER 2-5 HOURS THE CAR SEEMS FINE EXCEPT FOR CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WHICH GOES OUT THE NEXT DAY. *JS

MY WIFE AND I WERE TRAVELING NORTH ON PA ROUTE 15. WE WERE ON SPEED CONTROL AT 55 MPH. AN ERROR SIGNAL APPEARED ON THE DASH BOARD SAYING SERVICE TRAKCONTROL A FEW SECONDS LATER A SIGNAL SAID--- LOSING ENGINE POWER. I WAS ABLE TO GET TO A SOMEWHAT NARROW SHOULDER IN A FEW SECONDS BEFORE THE ENGINE DIED. I COULD NOT START THE CAR. A CALLED AAA AND AFTER 45 MINUTES WAS TOWED TO A GARAGE IN DILLSBURG. JUST BEFORE THE TOW TRUCK ARRIVED I WAS ABLE TO START THE CAR. THE MECHANIC TRIED TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE AND COULD NOT. I DECIDED TO DRIVE ON TO MY DESTINATION IN. NJ THE ERROR SIGNALS APPEARED ONCE MORE BUT I WAS ABLE TO PULL INTO A SERVICE STATION AND SIT. I RESTARTED CAR AND DROVE TO MY DESTINATION. THE NEXT DAY I WENT TO "RT 46 CHEVROLET"IN NJ THREE DAYS LATER A NEW ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS INSTALLED AND I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE TO MY HOME IN NY STATE.. IT WAS VERY SCARY TO LOSE POWER ON A HWY AT 55 MPH AND I WONDER ABOUT TRUSTING THE CAR!!!!! *TR

THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME IN, THEN THE STABILITRAK LIGHT CAME ON, THEN ENGINE POWER REDUCED CAR STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC, COULD HAVE BEEN FATAL. WAITED CAR POWERED BACK ON. A KNOWN ISSUE IN THIS MODEL. *TR
EVERY OTHER WEEK OR SO I GET THE "ENGINE POWER REDUCED/ SERVICE STABILTRACK/ SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL" AND THE CAR WILL LOOSE POWER. AFTER AN HOUR OR SO OF SITTING WITH THE CAR OFF, IT RESETS AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYS ON UNTIL THAT EVENTUALLY ALSO RESETS. AFTER WET WEAR HER STABILITY LIGHT MESSAGE, TRACTION CONTROL COMES ON WHILE DRIVING AS DOES ENGINE POWER REDUCED MESSAGE POWER IS REDUCED AND VEHICLE DIES IF YOU DO NOT PULL OVER AND TURN IT OFF AND BCK ON. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS AND EXPENSIVE PROBLEM WHICH GM IS AWARE OF AND COULD CAUSE SERIOUS INJURIES IF NOT DEALT WITH. *TR
THE REAR DEFROSTER STOPPED WORKING. AFTER INVESTIGATING THE ISSUE I DISCOVER THE ELECTRICAL HARNESS CONNECTORS HOLDING THE WIRING FOR THE REAR DEFROSTER(AND ALL OTHER WIRES) IS BURNT., THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS ARE HARNESSES FOR WIRING LEADING FORM THE ENGINE AREA, TO THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE FOR ALL ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS, INCLUDING THE REAR DEFROSTER. VISIBLY YOU CAN SEE THE AREA THAT IS BURNT FOR THE REAR DEFROSTER. THE WIRING FOR THE REAR DEFROSTER IS NOT FUSED, AND IN MY OPINION IS A FIRE HAZARD. WHILE DOING RESEARCH ON THIS ISSUE I DISCOVER THAT OTHER OWNERS HAVE HAD THESE ISSUES, AND IS VERY PROMINENT IN IMPALA'S BETWEEN 2006 AND UP. WITH OUT A FUSE FOR THE REAR DEFROSTER THERE IS NO SAFETY MECHANISM PREVENTING A SHORT, OR BURN OUT OF THE COMPONENTS, THUS CREATING THE POTENTIAL FOR A FIRE INSIDE THE COMPARTMENT OF THE VEHICLE, AND THE REAR DEFROST NOT TO WORK. *TR
WHEN YOU CRANK IT UP IT SOUNDS LOUD. AS YOU PRESS THE GAS IT HAS RATTLING NOISE UNDERNEATH THE CAR. LOSS OF POWER YOU HAVE TO PRESS THE PEDAL DOWN TO THE FLOOR JUST TO GET UP SOME SPEED. USING TONS OF GAS. HAS SMOKE COMING OUT OF THE TAIL PIPE. STRONG ODOR OF GAS AND ROTTEN EGGS. THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER IS COMPLETELY RUSTED OUT UNDERNEATH.

I AM A MOTHER OF FOUR AND THIS IS MY ONLY VEHICLE. I HAVE CALLED GM CUSTOMER SERVICE TWICE AND I AM TOLD THAT MY CAR IS NOT UNDER THIS RECALL. I AM NOT UNDERSTANDING WHY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED MECHANIC WHERE A DIAGNOSTIC WAS PERFORMED, WHICH LOCATED THE FAILURE AT THE ACCELERATION SENSOR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 38,200 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 39,000.
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE, MY 17 YEAR OLD SON INFORMED ME THAT THE SERVICE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON. I TOOK IT TO A CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP NEAR MY TOWN. THEY RAN TESTS ALL DAY TO SAY THAT A CONNECTION IN THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT AND A TERMINAL NEEDED TO BE REPLACED ($264). BEFORE GETTING HOME, WHICH IS ABOUT 10 MILES FROM THE DEALERSHIP, THE LIGHT CAME BACK ON. CALL THE DEALERSHIP AND RETURNED CAR. THIS TIME THEY TELL ME THAT THE SEAT BELT PRETENSIONER NEEDS TO BE REPLACED ($215). I FELT I WAS BEING GIVEN THE RUN AROUND SO I DID NOT GET IT REPAIRED THERE. SIX MONTHS LATER THE LIGHT COMES BACK ON. I TAKE IT TO A HONDA DEALERSHIP THINKING THEY HAVE BETTER QUALITY CARS AND THEY TEST IT. THEY SAY THAT IT'S SOMETHING ELSE IN THE SEAT AND THAT IT WILL BE APPROXIMATELY $700 TO REPAIR. I CONTACT GM TO SEE IF THERE IS A RECALL OR SOMETHING THAT CAN BE DONE. THEY STATE NO RECALL AND THAT IF IT'S NOT REPAIRED BY CERTIFIED GM DEALERSHIP, IF IT IS LATER RECALLED I WILL NOT BE REFUNDED. I TAKE IT TO CERTIFIED GM DEALER AND THEY SAY THEY DON'T FIND ANYTHING BECAUSE THE SYSTEM HAS BEEN RESET. LAST WEEK, AFTER THE LIGHT STAYING ON CONTINUOUSLY I TAKE IT TO THE CERTIFIED GM DEALERSHIP. THEY RUN DIAGNOSTICS AND TELL ME THAT IT'S THE SEAT BELT PRETENSIONER. AFTER PAYING APPROXIMATELY $325 AND THEM KEEPING MY CAR FOR A WEEK, I RECEIVE THE CAR BACK AND 35 MILES LATER THE LIGHT REAPPEARS. I AM DEFINITELY SICK OF THIS CAR AND THINK GM IS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM BUT THEY DON'T WANT TO FIX IT BECAUSE OF ALL THE OTHER RECALLS THEY ARE HAVING. I HAVE SPENT OVER $700 TO NO AVAIL. DURING A ROAD TRIP, STOPPED FOR LUNCH. UPON CONTINUING THE DRIVE TO HOME, THE BRAKE PEDAL SUDDENLY FADED AWAY AND SMOKE BEGAN TO COME FROM UNDER THE HOOD - WE FOUND A PARKING LOT AND PULLED IN AND SHUT THE CAR OFF. AFTER OPENING THE HOOD, WE DISCOVER THE TOP OF THE MOTOR WAS COVERED WITH BRAKE FLUID. WE HAD THE CAR TOWED TO OUR HOME TOWN - 100 MILES AWAY - AT A COST OF $650.00 - THEN DELIVERED TO THE DEALER ON MONDAY - TODAY THEY HAVE INFORMED ME THAT WE HAVE NO WARRANTY LEFT AND THE BRAKE LINE HAD RUBBED ON A PART NEXT TO IT CAUSING THE LEAK. FURTHER MORE - THE REQUIRED PART FOR REPAIR IS ON A MINIMUM 2 WEEK BACK ORDER - INDICATING THAT THIS IS NOT AN UNCOMMON PROBLEM. IF THIS HAD HAPPENED JUST A FEW MILES UP THE ROAD, WE WOULD HAVE BEEN IN THE NARROWS OF HIGHWAY 101 IN THE CURVES WITH NO WHERE TO PULL OFF!! AT FIRST IT WAS WHEN BACKING UP AND TURNING SHARP. THE TRACTION CONTROL MESSAGE WOULD COME ON AND A GRINDING LIKE SOUND FROM THE FRONT DRIVER WHEEL AREA. LATER IT INCLUDED THE ABS WARNING AND WOULD ALSO OCCUR AFTER BACKING WITH TURN AND GOING FORWARD AT THAT MOMENT. NOW RANDOMLY WHEN PULLING OUT AND THE SERVICE AIR BAG LIGHT COMES ON. RECENTLY ALSO THE OIL PRESSURE LOW MESSAGE AND DUMMY LIGHT COME ON 3-4 TIMES BEFORE STOPPING (AND YES THE OIL PRESSURE IS GOOD WITH CORRECT OIL, TIRES, PRESSURE, BRAKES, SENSORS ALL CHECK GOOD). BEST GUESS DIAGNOSTICS IS SHORTING IN WIRING HARNESS THAT CAN NOT BE LOCATED UNTIL IT FAILS COMPLETELY. HOWEVER WITH GRABBING WITH TRACTION CONTROL WHEN PULLING OUT AND AIR BAG PROBLEMS IT IS OBVIOUS THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD.

I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE AND I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE CAR AFTER WAITING A FEW MINUTES. IT WAS A SCARY EXPERIENCE. EVENTUALLY, LEADING UP TO TODAY, MY CAR GOT WORSE AND WORSE, AND EVENTUALLY IT JUST STARTED TURNING OFF AT STOPLIGHTS WITH THE MESSAGE "STARTING DISABLED, SERVICE THROTTLE". IT STARTS WITH THE OTHER MESSAGES ALMOST AS SOON AS I TURN ON THE CAR. THE ENGINE REVS AND THE CAR SOUNDS AWFUL. *TR

I TOOK THE CONSOLE AND GEAR SHIFT LEVER APART AND FOUND A SNAPPED WIRE IN THE WIRING HARNESS. AFTER AN EXHAUSTIVE SEARCH, I FOUND THAT THE IMPALA HAS BEEN EXPERIENCING THIS ISSUE AT LEAST SINCE 2006. THE ISSUE IS ALLEGEDLY CAUSED BY THE CONSTANT MOVEMENT OF THE GEAR SHIFT LEVER, CAUSING ONE OR MORE OF THE WIRES IN THE HARNESS TO BREAK. AN INVESTIGATION OF THE COSTLY REPAIR AND ON-GOING ISSUE FROM CHEVROLET IS IN ORDER.
