CHEVY 2010 SHOWED A CODE OF SERVICE SAFETY LINK, TRACTION CONTROL ENGINE POWER REDUCED AND THE ENGINE LIGHT IS ON. *TR
MY CAR SUDDENLY LOST POWER WHILE DRIVING, NO WARNING. ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON THAT SAYS "SERVICE STABILITRAK". I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER SAFELY AND AFTER A FEW MOMENTS I COULD DRIVE AGAIN. I PREVIOUSLY OWNED A 2009 IMPALA AND THIS SAME THING HAPPENED! IT WOULD HAVE COST $1900 TO FIX WHICH IS WHY I JUST DECIDED TO UPGRADE AND BY ANOTHER. THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS TYPE OF VEHICLE. *TR
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING ON A FOUR LANE IN MN WHEN THE CAR JUST QUIT,AS LUCK WOULD HAVE IT THERE WAS A OFF RAMP AND WE COASTED UP TO THE TOP. WE DIDN'T KNOW WHAT HAPPENED SO WE NEVER REPORTED IT,AND IT STARTED RIGHT BACK UP. WASN'T TILL TODAY MY WIFE SAW WHERE GM HAD A PROBLEM SOUNDING LIKE HAPPENED TO US. SO I WENT ON LINE WITH GM THE GIRL SAID TAKE IT TO A DEALER ,ITS OUT OF WARRANTY SO I LL HAVE TO PAY GRRRRRRRRR I SAID ITS NOT MY TROUBLE WHY SHOULD I HAVE TO PAY FOR SOMETHING THAT IS YOUR FAULT. SHE DIDN'T CARE,NO BIG SURPRISE ! I TOLD HER THAT I PRINTED OUT WHAT SHE AID SO IF SOMETHING HAPPENS TO MY WIFE OR ME I HAVE PROOF I TOLD THEM OF MY TROUBLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE AIR BAG INDICATOR LIGHT COMES ON SPORADICALLY. RECENTLY IT HAS COME ON AND STAYED ON FOR ABOUT 2 MONTHS THEN TURNED OFF FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS, THEN CAME BACK ON. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND ACCELERATING TO MERGE, THE CAR FELT AS IF IT DROPPED A GEAR OR TWO AND THE POWER WAS NOTICEABLY REDUCED. THE SERVICE LIGHT ON THE DASH CAME ON AND THE ERROR MESSAGE "SERVICE STABILITYTRAC- SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL" CAME ACROSS THE DASH. NOW THE CAR WHEN IT ACCELERATES "JERKS" AS IF IT'S HAVING TROUBLE MAKING IT TO THE NEXT GEAR WHEN MOVING BETWEEN 20-30MPH ON THE SPEEDOMETER. THE POWER IN ACCELERATING AFTER 30MPH IS DRAMATICALLY REDUCED THE FASTER YOU WISH TO GO. *TR
THIS HAS HAPPENED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. WHILE DRIVING MY VEHICLE WILL TURN OFF. SOMETIMES ME VEHICLE WILL HAVE TROUBLE STARTING. TURNING THE KEY WILL NOT ENGAGE THE STARTER, THERE WILL BE NO ATTEMPT OF THE MOTOR TO TURN OVER. THIS CONTINUES TO HAPPEN EVEN AFTER THE REMOVAL OF ALL KEY RINGS FROM THE IGNITION KEY. TODAY (11/18/14), MY IMPALA DIED WHILE DRIVING AND THE ENGINE LIGHT TURNED ON. THE CODE STATED THAT THERE WAS A FAULTY IGNITION SWITCH. *TR
TWO UNDER DASH ACTUATORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT 31,060 AND 39,914 MILES. I BELIEVE THESE PARTS ARE FAULTY AND NEED TO BE RECALLED. WHEN I CONTACTED CHEVROLET, CASE# [XXX], I WAS ADVISED THAT RECALLS ARE ONLY INITIATED BY YOUR ORGANIZATION. SINCE THIS IS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE, THIS IS QUESTIONABLE. I HAVE A 2010 CHEVY IMPALA THAT HAS A SERVICE AIR BAGS MESSAGE ON THE DIC MESSAGE CONSOLE. FROM WHAT I HAVE READ ONLINE THIS IS A DEFINITE SAFETY HAZARD BECAUSE THE AIR BAGS MAY NOT WORK IN AN ACCIDENT. THE CAR IS NOW OUT OF WARRANTY SO I THINK THIS SHOULD HAVE A RECALL SINCE IT IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
AFTER PARKING THE VEHICLE, I AM UNABLE TO REMOVE THE KEY OR TURN THE VEHICLE OFF SO I CANNOT REMOVE THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION. I FOUND OUT THAT THE WIRING HARNESS IN THE SHIFTER HAD BECOME WORN AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I REPLACED THE HARNESS AND AGAIN NOT 1 YEAR LATER I AM HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. I SENT CHEVY AN EMAIL AND I AM WAITING FOR A REPLY. *TR
I HAVE A 2010 CHEVROLET IMPALA LT WITH 65,000 MILES. I WAS ALMOST IN AN ACCIDENT. A DEER RAN ONTO THE HIGHWAY ON MAY 12,2013. I WAS GOING 60 MPH AND THEN MADE A SUDDEN STOP. THE NEXT DAY MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT PLUS THE TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM LIGHT CAME ON.... NOW, I ONLY HAD THIS CAR NOT EVEN 2MONTHS AND MAKING PAYMENTS AND I AM HAVING PROBLEMS WITH IT (ALREADY). ANY OTHER CAR THAT I HAD HAVE IN THE PAST I MADE SUDDEN STOPS AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS NEVER COMES ON. WHATS GOING ON WITH THE CHEVROLET IMPALAS? THEY LOOK NICE BUT THEY ARE SSSOOOO NOT WORTH THE COST TO PURCHASE OR TO GET REPAIRED. THIS IS THE ONLY BAD INVESTMENT I HAVE EVER MADE IN MY LIFE. I SHOULD HAVE STUCK WITH MY MAZDA. RIDING ALONG AT 70 MPH TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. COMPUTER SAYS ENGINE SPEED IS REDUCED. DROVE TWO MORE MILES TO PULL OVER SAFELY BUT CAR CUT OFF AND COMPUTER SAYS ENGINE START IS DISABLED AND CAR WOULD NOT RESTART UNTIL I UNHOOKED BATTERY. NOT REAL FUN WITH RUSH HOUR IN ST. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT WIRING IN THE SHIFTER HAD BECOME WORN AND WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 47,000.
I OWN A 2010 CHEVROLET IMPALA. I HAVE HAD MY HOUSING GEAR REPLACED AND OTHER SUSPENSION ITEMS IN THE LAST YEAR. SINCE MY LAST MAJOR JOB (HOUSING GEAR), THE CAR HAS BEEN MAKING A CLICK WHEN TURNING THE WHEEL AND WHEN GOING UP HILL. WHEN THE CAR IS GOING UPHILL AND SHIFTING GEARS IT MAKE A CLICK/POP SOUND. I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR TO THE CHEVY DEALER AND THEY CONSTANTLY ACT AS THOUGH THEY CAN NOT HEAR THE SOUND, WHICH MAKES IT SO EASY FOR THEM TO NOT REPAIR. I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR IN FOR THIS OVER 5 TIMES AND LEAVE WITH THE PROBLEM STILL BEING. ON TWO OF THOSE OCCASIONS THEY FOUND OTHER ISSUES WHICH RESULTED IN THE WARRANTY PAYING FOR THE PROBLEMS. MY WARRANTY INCLUDES A $100 DEDUCTIBLE. SO I HAVE PAID A DEDUCTIBLE TO GET ONE PROBLEM FIXED AND IT HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED TO DATE. I AM TRULY FRUSTARTAED, AS I AM NOT A MECHANIC AND NEED MY CAR FIXED. I DRIVE A TODDLER AROUND DAILY. I FEEL INSECURE WITH MY CARS DRIVEABILITY. MY CAR NEEDS TO BE FIXED.
I DON'T REMEMBER THE EXACT DATE, BUT APPROXIMATELY 2 YRS AGO, I BEGAN SEEING THE SEQUENCE OF MESSAGES, "SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL, SERVICE STABILITRAK, ENGINE POWER REDUCED," AND THE ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON ALONG WITH THE TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM LIGHT. THE CAR SPEED WAS OBVIOUSLY REDUCED AND I COULDN'T REALLY ACCELERATE. I TOOK THE CAR BACK TO CARMAX AND THEY SAID THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING AND DID NOT KNOW WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT. IT HAPPENS SPORADICALLY, BUT SEEMINGLY ALWAYS ON THE INTERSTATE WHILE I'M TRAVELING AROUND 65--70 MPH. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS, AND I'VE BEEN TRYING TO RESEARCH WHAT NEEDS TO BE FIXED. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY THIS IS NOT A RECALL ITEM. I THINK THIS WILL BE THE LAST CHEVY I PURCHASE! *TR
THE BATTERY WAS SHOWING A LOT OF CORROSION. IT WAS ALSO LEAKING BATTERY ACID. WE TOOK THE CAR TO A GARAGE IN FL. THE MECHANIC SAID GM HAD A REAL PROBLEM WITH THIS CAR AS THEY HAVE PUT THE BATTERY TOO CLOSE TO THE RADIATOR. THE BATTERY BECOMES EXCEEDINGLY HOT AND THE BATTERY IS DAMAGED. I TRIED TO WORK WITH GM ON THIS MATTER, BUT THEY HELD THE WARRANTY OF 6 YEARS ON THE BATTERY AND WHEN THE CAR WAS SOLD TO ME THE BATTERY WAS ONLY WARRANTIED FOR 3 YEARS.BECAUSE I WAS NOT SOLD THE BATTERY. GM WAS. I WENT TO ANOTHER PLACE TO GET THE BATTERY REPLACED. THE REPAIR MAN THERE TOLD ME IF THE BATTERY WAS NOT TAKEN CARE OF THE BATTERY ACID THAT WAS LEAKING COULD CAUSE A FIRE IN MY VEHICLE. I AM HOPING YOU WILL CHECK INTO THIS PROBLEM. I HAVE CORRECTED THE PROBLEM IN MY CAR, BUT THERE ARE OTHER CARS THAT HAVE THESAME PROBLEM AND COULD BE DETRIMENTAL TO SOMEONE ELSE. STABILITRAC LIGHT ON WITH REDUCED ENGINE POWER - TESTED AND FOUND CODE B 2138 REPLACED SHORTED GAS PEDAL ASSEMBLY. ON APRIL 9, 2010 THE SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED. THE DEALERSHIP CHARGED ME $463 FOR THE FIRST REPAIR AND NOW THEY ARE SAYING I MUST PAY ANOTHER $500 FOR A SENSOR. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AND A FAULTY SYSTEM THAT SHOULD BE UNDER WARRANTY AND/OR UNDER GMAC RECALL. *TR

THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED THAT THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY ORDINARY WEAR AND TEAR. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 65,000.

I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEMS AS ALOT OF THESE PEOPLE AS FAR AS THE CAR JERKING AND WITH THE CAR REDUCING ITS SPEED (SERVICE STABILITRAK WARNING). I HAVE BEEN TO THE DEALER 3 TIMES ALREADY, WHICH I HAD TO REPLACE TRANSMISSION LINES AND AN ACCELERATOR SENSOR (WHICH THEY REPLACED THE WHOLE ACCELERATOR). PLEASE NOTE MY COMPLAINT IS NO REFLECTION TO THE SERVICE DEPT AT THAT DEALER FOR THEY WERE EXTREMELY COURTEOUS AND AS HELPFUL AS THEY COULD POSSIBLY BE. I WAS VERY HAPPY WITH THE DEALER, BUT I AM NOT AT ALL HAPPY WITH THE WAY GM IS NOT HANDLING THIS. MY CAR IS HAVING ISSUES WITH THE SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL, ENGINE POWER REDUCED AND WILL SHUT DOWN. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME OVER 5 TIMES NOW. I CAN'T EVEN PICK UP SPEED AFTER THIS HAPPENS. I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY ONE TIME DOING ABOUT 65 AND THE CAR JUST SHUT DOWN, I WAS ON AN INCLINE/RAMP AND AN 18 WHEELER WAS BEHIND ME AND I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR INTO TO GET THE CODES RAN BUT CAN NOT SEEM TO GET TO THE ROOT CAUSE. I AM THINKING ABOUT JUST GIVING THE CAR BACK AND HAVING IT GO ON MY CREDIT. *TR
MY KEY IS STUCK IN THE IGNITION AND WILL NOT TURN BACK TO THE OFF POSITION SO I CAN GET THE KEY OUT. I HAVE TO DISCONNECT MY BATTERY TO KEEP THE BATTERY FROM DRAINING COMPLETELY WHEN NOT IN USE AND RECONNECT MY BATTERY WHEN I NEED TO DRIVE MY CAR, AND I CANNOT LOCK MY CAR BECAUSE OF THIS. I FEEL THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE I COULD GET INJURED WHILE CONNECTING OR DISCONNECTING MY BATTERY AND I CANNOT SECURE MY CAR. THE PASSENGER AIR BAG INDICATOR IS ON. IT WAS NOT ON WHEN I PURCHASED THIS USED CAR BUT IT CAME ON AT APPROXIMATELY 70,000 MILES. MY REAR DEFROSTER BARELY WORKS. THE SPEEDOMETER STICKS AT ZERO THEN STARTS WORKING FOR A FEW TENTHS OF A MILE THEN GOES BACK TO ZERO AGAIN. I HAVE TO GUESS WHAT SPEED I AM GOING. THE SPEEDOMETER STARTED MALFUNCTIONING AT ABOUT 68,000 MILES. CHEVROLET REFUSES TO REPAIR ANY OF THE ABOVE AT THEIR EXPENSE. STATING THERE IS NO RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE. I HAVE SEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE KEY GETTING STUCK IN THE IGNITION ON MANY MODELS OF CHEVROLET VEHICLES ON THE INTERNET. WHY ISN'T THERE A RECALL ON THESE ISSUES? *TR

IN ADDITION, THE POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM WAS REPLACED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PROBLEM RECURRED AFTER THREE WEEKS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 37,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 38,000.
I OWN A 2010 IMPALA WITH WHAT SEEMS TO BE A WIRING PROBLEM WHICH CAUSES A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN. WHEN I GOOGLE THE PROBLEM TO TRY AND FIND OUT WHAT IS WRONG IT SEEMS OTHER PEOPLE HAVE HAD THIS SAME ISSUE WITH THE IMPALA. THE PROBLEM CAUSES THE CAR TO COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN WHILE YOU ARE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY. IF OTHER PEOPLE HAVE THIS PROBLEM, ISN'T IT A MATTER THAT CHEVY SHOULD HAVE TO RECALL? I CAN'T IMAGINE THIS IS SOMETHING THAT HAPPENS TO MOST CARS, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT IS ONLY 3 YEARS OLD. I CONTACTED A FRIEND OF MINE AT GM AND A GLOBAL TECHNICAL SPECIALIST IN THE EXHAUST MANIFOLDS/HEAT SHIELDS/SAI DIVISION OF THE GENERAL MOTORS GLOBAL PROPULSION SYSTEMS STATED THAT THERE WAS A CORROSION DURABILITY CONCERN WITH THIS PART THAT RESULTED IN ELEVATED WARRANTY. THERE IS NOW A IMPROVED SERVICE PN AVAILABLE THAT REPLACES THE PN THAT HAVE BEEN USED IN MY VEHICLE. I FEEL THAT GM SHOULD RECALL THESE BAD PARTS AND REFUND US FOR THEM. EACH TIME THIS PART NEEDS TO BE REPLACED THE COST IS OVER $400 TO ME. MY FIRST REPLACEMENT PART WENT ON 1-30-13 AT 46737 MILES. THE 2ND REPLACEMENT PART WENT ON 7-8-14 AT 71368 MILES. NOW THE 3RD REPLACEMENT PART NEEDS TO GO ON AT 115429 MILES. THE 1ST REPLACEMENT PART COST ME $567 TO REPLACE AT THE DEALERSHIP. WHILE TRAVELING AWAY FROM HOME I PARKED MY CAR AND THE KEY IS STUCK IN THE IGNITION. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD DUE TO I HAD TO LEAVE THE KEYS IN THE CAR. THE NEXT MORNING THE CAR WOULD NOT START DUE TO THE BATTERY BEING DRAINED BECAUSE THE KEY WAS NOT IN THE OFF POSITION. THEREFORE I HAD TO BE TROUBLED WITH FINDING JUMPER CABLES WHILE AWAY FROM HOME OR BE TOWED TO THE NEAREST CHEVROLET DEALER (WHOM I MIGHT ADD DID NOT HAVE A TECHNICIAN THAT COULD FIX IT ON A SATURDAY MORNING). I CALLED ANOTHER CHEVROLET DEALER IN ANOTHER COUNTY CLOSE BY AND THEIR SERVICE DEPARTMENT IS CLOSED ON SATURDAY. SO THEREFORE I HAVE HAD TO EITHER LEAVE MY VEHICLE RUNNING, LOOSEN THE BATTERY CABLES OR BE CLOSE BY TO ANOTHER VEHICLE THAT CAN GIVE ME A JUMP. DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH AD THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE WARNING LIGHTS COME ON : CHECK STABILITY TRACKER, REDUCE POWER, AND THE VEHICLE SHUTS DOWN. *TR
I WAS DRIVING TO WORK, NEARLY AT THE END OF A 50 MILE TRIP, THE CAR WAS FUNCTIONING NORMALLY WITH NO ABNORMAL NOISES OR INDICATIONS OF PROBLEMS. I DROVE THE CAR INTO THE PARKING LOT AND WAS MAKING A SLIGHT RIGHT TURN, TRAVELING AT ABOUT 15 MPH, WHEN SUDDENLY THE CAR SCREECHED TO AN IMMEDIATE HALT AND STALLED THE ENGINE. THE SUDDEN STOP WAS VIOLENT AND THREW ME AGAINST MY SEATBELT. I MOVED THE GEAR SELECTOR LEVER FROM DRIVE TO PARK AND RESTARTED THE ENGINE WITHOUT ANY TROUBLE. THE ENGINE RAN SMOOTH AND WITHOUT ANY UNUSUAL NOISE. I PUT THE CAR INTO DRIVE, BUT IT WOULD NOT MOVE AND IT MADE LOUD GRINDING AND CLUNKING SOUNDS. I PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE, BUT STILL IT WOULD NOT MOVE AND AGAIN MADE LOUD NOISES. I PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL AND A FRIEND CAME OVER TO HELP ME PUSH THE CAR TO A MORE SAFE AREA, BUT STILL THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE. APPARENTLY THE DRIVETRAIN WAS LOCKED UP AND WOULD NOT MOVE, NO MATTER WHAT GEAR POSITION THE TRANSMISSION WAS IN. THE CAR WAS LATER DRAGGED ON TO A FLATBED TRUCK AND TAKEN TO MY LOCAL AUTO SERVICE CENTER, WHERE THEY DETERMINED THE TRANSMISSION WAS BAD. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TOWED TO MY LOCAL CHEVROLET DEALER TO BE FIXED UNDER THE GM 100,000MI/5 YEAR POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. I AM VERY SHAKEN UP BY THIS INCIDENT AND FEAR WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPEN IF THE VEHICLES FRONT WHEELS WOULD HAVE VIOLENTLY LOCKED UP LIKE THIS AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. I FEAR THE RESULT WOULD HAVE BEEN A TOTAL LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND POSSIBLY SEVERE INJURY OR EVEN DEATH TO MYSELF AND OTHERS. DRIVING HOME FRIDAY NIGHT 12/26/12 ON CRUISE SET AT 65, BANG, CAR DROPPED POWER DRASTICALLY, KICKED OFF CRUISE, AND THE THREE ROTATING MESSAGES APPEARED ON DASH, 1)SERVICE STABILITRAK, 2)SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL, & 3)ENGINE POWER REDUCED. BOTH ORANGE PLACARDS LIT UP ON DASH, SERVICE ENGINE AND TRACTION. PULLED OUT OF TRAFFIC AND RE STARTED THE CAR. WAS ABLE TO DRIVE AT NORMAL SPEEDS BUT CODES STILL ROTATING AND PLACARDS STILL LIT. COULDN'T GET IT INTO THE SHOP UNTIL MONDAY 12/31/12. WHEN I STARTED IT UP TO TAKE IT IN, CODES WERE ALL CLEARED AND CAR RAN JUST FINE. DEALERSHIP TOLD ME IT WAS THE PEDAL SENSOR AND WOULD COST ME $275 TO REPAIR. HOW CAN WE GET GM TO DO A RECALL ON THIS ON GOING ISSUE? THIS IS A 2010 CHEVY IMPALA LT WITH 45000 ON IT. THIS REPAIR SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND I WAS TOLD IT IS NOT. THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS INDIVIDUALS WITH THIS SAME SENSOR FAILING AT ABOUT 45000 MILES. A SUDDEN DROP IN POWER TO A SPEED OF 25 WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS IS VERY DANGEROUS. THE JACK FAILED TO STAY UNDER THE FRAME RAIL RIDGE. ITS WAS HALF WAY UP AND THE CAR BENT THE FRAME OF THE JACK AND THE THREADED ROD.
