ELAY SWITCH ON DRIVER SIDE FOR AIR CONDITIONER CLICKS FOR SEVERAL MINUTES AND BLOWS HOT AIR. THE PASSENGER SIDE CURRENTLY BLOWS COLD BUT NOW THE CLICKING HAS BEEN HAPPENING THERE ALSO. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A COMMON DEFECT IN CHEVROLET IMPALAS THAT SHOULD BE TAKEN CARE OF. THIS HAPPENS EVERYWHERE ALL THE TIME MOVING AND PARKED
PURCHASED SET OF 4 YOKOHAMA ASCEND 225/55TR17 ON AUGUST 27,2013 TO REPLACE OEM TIRES. A FRONT END ALIGNMENTS WAS COMPLETED @ 3,385 MILES BEFORE THE PURCHASE. ANOTHER FRONT END ALIGNMENT WAS COMPLETED @ 26,327 MILES ON JULY 2, 2015. TIRES WERE MAINTAINED AT 35PSI WITH ROTATIONS OCCURRING AT 6344, 26327, 33445 & 41614. WITH STEERING WHEEL VIBRATION OCCURRING, IT WAS DETERMINED TIRE SEPARATION OCCURRED ON THE RIGHT FRONT AT 49,179 MILES. TIRE WAS REPLACED AT A PRORATED RATE ON MAY 16, 2016. ON SEPTEMBER 7, 2016 A SIMILAR STEERING WHEEL VIBRATION WAS NOTICED APPROXIMATE 600 MILES FROM HOME. UPON NEARING HOME, EXCESSIVE STEERING WHEEL AND VEHICLE OSCILLATIONS WHERE OBSERVED AT SPEEDS >45MPH. ON SEPTEMBER 9, 2016 IT WAS DETERMINED THAT A SECOND TIRE HAD SEPARATED, THIS TIME IT WAS THE LEFT FRONT AT 49,625 MILES. TIRE WAS REPLACED AT A PRORATED BASIS. ALL MILEAGES ARE STATED IN TREAD WEAR WITH THIS COMPLAINT BEING BASED ON FMVSS & CFR EXPERIENCE
DRIVING MY CAR THE STABIL TRACK NEEDS REPAIRED THEN TRACTION CENTER THEN REDUCING ENGINE POWER.I WAS GETTING OFF THE HIGHWAY WHEN THE NOTICE STARTED.
TRAVELING A STATE HIGHWAY AT THE LEGAL SPEED OF 70 MPH, HAD TO BREAK VERY HARD. AS THE CAR SLOWED DOWN THE ENGINE SHUT OFF AND POWER STEERING FAILED.

I HAD A TOTAL STRANGER HEAR THE NOISE WHILE I WAS PUMPING GAS WHO SAID HIS IMPALA DID THE SAME THING. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A COMMON DEFECT IN CHEVROLET IMPALAS THAT SHOULD BE TAKEN CARE OF. THIS HAPPENS EVERYWHERE ALL THE TIME MOVING AND PARKED
MY CAR ALL OF A SUDDEN BEEPED AND 3 WARNINGS CAME UP SAYING "ENGINE POWER REDUCED" ,"SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL" AND "SERVICE STABILITRAK" 2 IMAGES CAME ON AS WELL THE ENGINE LIGHT AND THE TRACTION ONE. THE CAR SEEMED TO BE RUNNING FINE I WAS ALMOST HOME. BUT IT SCARED ME SINCE ALL THOSE LIGHTS WERE FLASHING. ESPECIALLY THE ENGINE POWER REDUCING. READING ALL THESE STORIES I FEEL LUCKY THAT MY CAR DID NOT STOP ON ME. I REMEMBERED ID RECEIVED A LETTER THAT WAS NOT A RECALL BUT MENTIONED TO TAKE IN IF YOU HAD ANY ISSUES WITH THIS AND SHOULD BE COVERED OR REFUNDED IF FIXED IN THE PAST. I FOUND IT CALLED GM AND HAVE AN APPT IN 2 WEEKS WHICH WORRIES ME HOPE NOTHING HAPPENS BETWEEN THEN. THE BAD AND GOOD THING IS THAT NOW ALL THE LIGHTS HAVE COME OFF. HOPING THEY ARE STILL ABLE TO FIX IT AND I AM NOT HAVING TO PAY ANYTHING FOR IT. I FEEL LIKE THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND SHOULD BE A RECALL.
BOUGHT CAR 4 DAYS AGO. NOW THE WARNING LIGHT AND MESSAGE KEEPS COMING ON ABOUT SERVICE BRAKE SYSTEM ASSIST AND TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM NEEDS SERVICE. THE CAR BOGS. IT DOES THIS WHILE DRIVING AND WHEN AT START. THE TCS IIMBLIM STAYS ON AT ALL TIMES. SHOULDN'T THIS BE A RECALL OR UNDER WARRENTY?????
PULLING INTO THE DRIVEWAY AT ABOUT 10 MILES AN HOUR THE TRANSMISSION DIED, CAUSING THE CAR TO COME TO A DEAD STOP: THE TRANSMISSION HAS TO BE REPLACED NOW, HUSBAND HIT HIS HEAD OFF STEERING WHEEL, IF WE WERE ON A HIGHWAY DOING 60MILES PER HOUR WE COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. THE CAR IS NOW AT TOM HESSER DEALERSHIP WHO SAID THEY WILL PAY HALF OF THE 4K TO FIX IT, THE CAR HAS 60400 SOME MILES ON IT, JUST TURNED 5 YRS OLD. I DO NOT THINK THIS CAR IS SAFE IF THE TRANSMISSION WILL JUST DIE AT ANY MOMENT WITHOUT WARNING.. IT DOES NOT HAVE OVER 100K MILES ON IT NOR DOES IT HAVE 61K MILES. THIS CAR MAKE AND MODEL HAS BEEN RECALLED FOR EVERYTHING BUT THE TRANY AND ENGINE SO FAR, THE CAR IS NOT SAFE PERIOD..THE DEALERSHIP WHO IS DOING REPAIRS IS NOT THE DEALERSHIP IT WAS PURCHASED FROM, , BUT IT IS A CHEVY DEALERSHIP. AND THEY ARE WILLING TO PAY HALF FOR REPAIRS, I THINK GMC SHOULD PAY THE ENTIRE COST FOR THE REPAIRS.
TAKATA RECALL THIS ISSUE IS THIS: I BOUGHT THE CAR IN DECEMBER 2015 FIRST MY ENGEN LIGHT COMES ON, THAN MY TRACTION CONTROLE LIGHT, THAN MY CAR TELLS ME TO SERVICE TRACTION CONTROLE, ENGEN POWER IS REDUCED, SERVICE STABIL TRACK, THE ENGEN CUTS I LOOSE POWER STEERING, AND I HAVE TO PULL OVER FOR 15 MIN WAITING FOR THE CAR TO REBOOT. I HAVE HAD THE CAR TO THE GM SHOP EVERY 2500-3000 MILES. THE SHOP REPLACED ALL THE FACTORY COVERED PARTS AND NOW WILL START GUESSING. THE FIRST FIX IS REPLACING SOME WIRES THAT ANOTHER SHOP REPLACED IN AN ATTEMPT TO FIX THIS SAME PROBLEM. NO ONE WILL FIX THIS DEATH TRAP. I WILL NOT DRIVE IT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET IMPALA. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED ON AN INCLINE WITH THE CONTACT'S FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED AND PROCEEDED TO SHIFT FROM PARK TO DRIVE. THE VEHICLE STARTED TO ROLL BACKWARDS AND STRUCK THE VEHICLE IN ITS REAR. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 77,595.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING IN A RAIN STORM, THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS FAILED TO FUNCTION DURING USE WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A FAULTY BEARING IN THE WINDSHIELD WIPER TRANSMISSION AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE BUT THE CONTACT STATED HE WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS AND NO ADDITIONAL ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 51,000.
TODAY OUR 2011 IMPALA DISPLAYED MSGS FOR "SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL, SERVICE STABILITRACK, ENGINE POWER REDUCED". WE STARTED TO PULL OVER AS IT DRAMATICALLY SLOWED. THE ENGINE THEN DIED. WE WERE ON A 6 LANE HIGHWAY GOING 45. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN DEADLY. WE RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER FOR THE THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR. THE DEALER DID NOT REPAIR IT BECAUSE THEY COULD NOT REPRODUCE THE ERROR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET IMPALA. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND A BEEPING SOUND WAS HEARD. THE ENGINE POWER REDUCE WARNING MESSAGE ALSO DISPLAYED. THE VEHICLE WOULD DECELERATE, BUT ONCE THE VEHICLE WAS POWERED OFF AND RESTARTED, THE ISSUE WOULD BE CORRECTED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED AT ANY TIME. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 112,000.
DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY THE CAR SHOOK AND JERKED THEN THE ENGINE POWER REDUCED, SERVICE STABILITRACK, AND SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL SHOWED UP ON MY DASHBOARD. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND SO DID THE TRACTION LIGHT AND THEY STAYED ON. THE RPM METER IS AVERAGING BETWEEN 3 AND 4 WHEN IT USUALLY AVERAGES BETWEEN 1 AND 2. ALSO, THE SPEED HAS BEEN REDUCED.
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY, MY CAR SHUT DOWN. THIS WAS VERY DANGEROUS. I PULLED OVER ON THE SHOULDER AND EVERY LIGHT WAS ON STATING ENGINE POWER REDUCING. I HAVE HAD THIS SAME PART REPLACED TWICE IN 1.5 YEARS AND THERE IS SOMETHING SERIOUS WRONG WITH THE IMPALA.
MY CAR JUST REACHED 50,000 MILES AND I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY WHEN MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON ALONG WITH A STABILITRAK ERROR MESSAGE. THEN A MESSAGE SAYING ENGINE POWER IS REDUCED. I BOUGHT THIS CAR BRAND NEW! I WENT ONLINE AND STARTED TO RESEARCH THESE ISSUES AND FOUND THAT THERE HAS BEEN A LOT OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THESE EXACT ISSUES MOST EVEN THE SAME YEAR.
"TAKATA RECALL" - SERVICE AIR BAGS WARNING JUST RECENTLY CAME UP ON MY DASHBOARD WHEN DRIVING. PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT SOUNDS OFF, AND FLASHES TO FASTEN SEAT BELT WHEN THERE IS NO PASSENGER IS IN THE CAR, AND THE AIR BAG PANEL FLICKS ON AND OFF CONSISTENTLY. WHEN I OPEN THE DRIVERS DOOR, THERE A TAPPING LIKE SOUND STARTS AND CONTINUES FOR FIVE TO SIX SECONDS AND THEN STOPS. WHEN I PUSH THE HEAT AND AIR LEVERS, IT STOPS. WHEN I TURN ON THE AIR OR HEAT, IT WILL MAKE THE TAPPING NOISE AND STOP AFTER A SHORT WHILE. THE NOISE SEEM TO BE GETTING LOUDER. WHEN THE CAR IS SITTING IN THE HEAT OR WHEN IN THE CAR JUST SITTING AND THE CAR NOT TURNED ON, THE SAME TAPPING NOISE WILL OCCUR. THE NOISE SOUNDS LIKE A WOOD PECKER SOUND. IT SOUND LIKE IT IS LOCATED IN THE COOLING SYSTEM AREA, CLOSE BY THE DASHBOARD AREA.
MY CAR JUST REACHED 79,000 MILES AND I WAS DRIVING WHEN MY CAR CUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC! THIS HAPPENED TWICE IN THE SAME DRIVE. IT IMMEDIATELY STARTED BACK UP BUT THEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON ALONG WITH A STABILITRAK ERROR MESSAGE. THEN A MESSAGE SAYING ENGINE POWER IS REDUCED. NOW THE CAR'S ENGINE IS MAKING A TERRIBLE NOISE AND IS HAVING PROBLEMS ACCELERATING WITHOUT MAKING A LOUD SOUND LIKE AIR TRYING TO BLOW THROUGH A PINHOLE. THE CHEVY SERVICE DEPARTMENT I TOOK IT TO WANTS ALMOST $700 JUST TO TAKE IT APART TO SEE WHAT IT WRONG WITH IT, WHICH DOESN'T INCLUDE THE POSSIBLE AMOUNT FOR REPAIR. AND THEY DID NOT LOOK AT ANY OF THE TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS LIKE REQUESTED! NOW THEY ARE SAYING MY CAR IS NOT ABLE TO BE DRIVEN AT ALL. I WENT ONLINE AND STARTED TO RESEARCH THESE ISSUES AND FOUND THAT THERE HAS BEEN A LOT OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THESE EXACT ISSUES MOST EVEN THE SAME YEAR. THERE IS NO REASON THAT A CAR WITH 79000 MILES SHOULD HAVE ENGINE PROBLEMS. I OWNED A 2003 IMPALA PRIOR TO THIS ONE AND HAD ALMOST 125000 MILES BEFORE I PURCHASED THIS 2011. THERE ARE WAY TOO MANY COMPLAINTS GOING ON WITH THIS CAR FOR IT NOT TO BE RECALLED.
ON MY WAY TO WORK, I WAS MAKING A NEXT TURN AT A LIGHT WHEN MY CAR ALL OF A SUDDEN SHUT OFF AND THEN TURNED BACK ON TWICE IN A MATTER OF 15 SECONDS. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS, IF IT WASN'T FOR THE VERY ATTENTIVE DRIVERS, I COULD'VE BEEN RAMMED!!! THE SECOND INCIDENT WAS AFTER I GOT OFF OF WORK. MY CAR WAS IN A PARKING GARAGE WHEN THIS HAPPENED. I TRIED STARTING MY CAR AND IT WOULDN'T START. I TRIED A SECOND TIME AND IT STARTED BUT THE ENGINE WAS REVVING REALLY HARD, LIKE I WAS ABOUT TO SPEED OFF OR SOMETHING. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AGAIN AND STARTED IT AGAIN FOR THE THIRD TIME AND "SERVICE STABILITRAK, SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL, AND REDUCED ENGINE POWER" ALL COME UP ON THE SERVICE SCREEN. AFTER READING MULTIPLE FORUMS ONLINE WITH HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS. I WAS SCARED TO DRIVE HOME. I DROVE AT ABOUT 40 MPH ALL THE WAY HOME (MY JOB IS A 25-30 MIN COMMUTE) AND FORTUNATELY I DIDN'T GET STRANDED AND MY CAR DIDN'T TURN OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING LIKE SOME FOLK HAVE EXPERIENCED. GM NEEDS TO ADDRESS THIS PROBLEM. WHY ISNT THERE A RECALL YET?!
GOT A MESSAGE ON MY DASH A FEW MONTHS AGO ABOUT "SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL" WHILE DRIVING. TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT LIT UP ALSO. PARKED CAR AND TURNED CAR OFF THEN ON...MESSAGE GONE. TOOK IT INTO SERVICE...SHOWED NO ERROR CODES. TODAY (5/2/16), IT DID IT AGAIN WITH THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT SIMULTANEOUSLY LIGHTING UP. "SERVICE STABILITRAK", SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL", AND "ENGINE POWER IS RECUDED" ARE THE MESSAGES I GOT TODAY ALONG WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT BEING ON. I HAD JUST GOTTEN OFF THE HIGHWAY SO I WASN'T GOING FAST WHEN THIS HAPPENED. I WAS CLOSE TO WORK SO I PARKED IT AT WORK. TURNED THE CAR OFF THEN ON AGAIN AND THE MESSAGES WERE GONE AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT WAS OFF BUT CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYED ON. TURNED CAR ON AGAIN AT LUNCH 1.5 HOURS LATER AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS OFF NOW SO I DOUBT ANYONE WILL BE ABLE TO DIAGNOSE OR FIX ANYTHING TODAY. TAKING IT TO SERVICE TO SEE IF IT THREW ANY ERROR CODES A LITTLE LATER TODAY. I'VE RESEARCHED THIS ISSUE AND FOUND THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED TO A LOT OF PEOPLE WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY. IF IT HAPPENS TO ME AND I'M IN AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF THIS, I WILL SUE THE S**T OUT OF GM. I HAVE TWO SMALL CHILDREN AND IF ANY OF US GETS HURT OR KILLED, THERE WILL BE H**L TO PAY. THIS ISSUE SHOULD ABSOLUTELY BE RECALLED. IT IS NOT DUE TO MY KEY/IGNITION ISSUE. ALREADY HANDLED THAT RECALL. LOSING POWER IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY RANDOMLY IS ABSOLUTELY DANGEROUS AND I'M NOW VERY AFRAID TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE. WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER IMPALA AGAIN.
VEHICLE SLOWED ON HIGHWAY, REDUCED ENGINE POWER WARNING MESSAGE AND STABILITRAK MEASSAGE DISPLAYED ALSO ENGINE INDICATOR LIGHT IS ON.
WHILE DRIVING THE TRACTION CONTROL,STABILIZER,ENGINE POWER WARNING ALL COME ON AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND SOMETIMES THE ENGINE TURNS OFF. PULL OFF ROAD, WILL NOT START THEN MINUTES LATER IT STARTS. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYS ON. AFTER MULTIPLE STARTS THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT GOES OUT . I HAVE READ MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ,YET THE NOTHING IS BEING DONE. TO REPAIR THIS PROBLEM. THE EFFECTS OF THIS IS THE SAME AS THE IGNITION TURNING OFF. PENDING ON TRAFFIC. THIS COULD BE DEADLY. THIS HAS HAPPENED ALOT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET IMPALA. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO BUCKLE IN THE CHILD SAFETY SEAT, THE REAR DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT THREADING SEPARATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE SEAT BELTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 147,739.
IN THE RIGHT REAR SECTION OF CAR THERE IS A RATTLE ALL THE TIME.
I BEGIN NOTICING ISSUES WHEN TAKING OFF FROM A COMPLETE STOP WHERE THE VEHICLE WOULD LUNGE FORWARD LIKE IT COULDN'T SHIFT INTO FIRST GEAR. I HAD THAT CHECKED AND NOTHING SHOWED AS AN ISSUE, SO THE MECHANIC SAID IT HAD TO BE ELECTRICAL. THIS WEEKEND I AM DRIVING IT AND AFTER 25 MINUTES IN THE CAR THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON, AS DOES THE NOTICE THAT MY ENGINE POWER HAS BEEN REDUCED, AND TO SERVICE THE STABILITY TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM. I WAS COMING TO A STOP LIGHT WHEN IT CAME ON AND I PULLED OFF TO TURN OFF THE CAR AND RESTART IT AS THAT WOULD WORK WHEN IT FAILED BEFORE TO RESET THE SYSTEM. IT DIDN'T RESET AND I HAD TO DRIVE IT WITH REDUCED POWER THE REST OF THE WAY TO MY DESTINATION. I HAD THIS FIXED A COUPLE YEARS AGO. I DID GET A NOTICE FROM GM ABOUT THE ISSUE AND THE ABILITY TO BE REIMBURSED OR GETTING IT FIXED IF THERE WAS A CURRENT ISSUE AND I WAS ABLE TO GET REIMBURSED FOR IT. NOW IT IS HAPPENING AGAIN, BUT MY MILEAGE IS TOO HIGH TO GET IT FIXED UNDER THIS REPAIR NOTICE BECAUSE THE LETTER SAYS THAT THE MILEAGE COVERAGE IS ONLY UP TO 120,000. IF THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE AND I HAVE ALREADY DEALT WITH IT BEFORE, WHY SHOULD I HAVE TO PAY FOR IT TO CONTINUALLY FAIL WHEN IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR, WHICH I WOULD HAVE NO ISSUE FIXING AS A PART OF MAINTAINING THE VEHICLE?! THIS SHOULD BE SOMETHING THAT GM WOULD FIX EVERY TIME IT GOES OUT BECAUSE IT IS CLEAR THE ISSUE IS A MALFUNCTION OF THE OVERALL SYSTEM AND NOT LINKED TO ANYTHING THAT THE DRIVER DOES OR DOESN'T DO TO MAINTAIN THE VEHICLE PROPERLY. IN ADDITION WHAT IF IT HAS TO BE REPLACED MULTIPLE TIMES AS IS THE CASE WITH MINE. I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN A DEVOTED GM CUSTOMER, BUT HONESTLY I AM NOT SURE I WILL EVER BUY ANOTHER GM AFTER THIS ISSUE. IT IS UNSAFE AND PROVIDES ANXIETY WHEN DRIVING, BECAUSE IT MIGHT FAIL AT THE WORST TIME AND COULD NEED FIXED AGAIN EVEN IF I FIX IT THIS TIME.

I CALLED GM CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY TOLD ME THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO, EVEN THOUGH THERE WAS A RECALL REGARDING THIS BECAUSE IT WAS OVER THE 120000 MILE WARRANTY (BUT I JUST BOUGHT THIS CAR 3 WEEKS AGO!!!)
FRONT BRAKE CALIPERS BINDING ON MY 2011 CHEVY IMPALA LT. NEW ROTORS AND CERAMIC PADS INSTALLED 2,000 MILES AGO AND NOW WARPED AGAIN. I HAVE $275.00 INVESTED AND WAS TOLD BY MY MECHANIC THAT THERE MAY BE A FACTORY RECALL ON THE CALIPERS. THERE IS 56,000 ON MY 2011 IMPALA NOW. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION WHILE THIS WAS HAPPENING AND GOT WORSE AFTER A FEW HARD STOPS. ALSO CHECK STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM WARNING CAME ON AND VEHICLE WENT INTO REDUCED POWER MODE WHICH IS VERY DANGEROUS IN TRAFFIC.

G.M. REPLACED MY INGINTION SWITCH ON A NATIONAL RECALL. I WAS HIT IN LEFT REAR QTR. PANEL. I LOST ALL POWER AND COULD NOT STOP OR STEER THE CAR. I CAREENED ACROSS HIGHWAY AND RAN INTO A HOUSE. NO AIR BAGS DEPLOYED EITHER. G.M. SENT A TEAM TO RECOVER COMPUTER INFO AND HAS NOW TOLD ME THERE IS NO PROBLEM.
JANUARY 31,2016 I WAS DRIVING AT A SPEED OF 55MPH ALL OF A SUDDEN MY CAR SPEED GAVE THREE STALLED JERKS I IMMEDIATELY PUT ON ME EMERGENCY FLASHERS BECAUSE TWO OTHER VEHICLES WERE BEHIND ME. FROM THAT POINT ON I DROVE AT A MUCH SLOWER SPEED; WASN'T SURE IF MY CAR WAS GOING TO CUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC OR NOT. IT WAS SCARY BECAUSE THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A TERRIBLE ACCIDENT. THE TRACTION STABILITY -SERVICE LIGHT CAME ON. MY CAR WAS SERVICED FOR THIS VERY THING APRIL 2015. WHY I AM HAVING THIS SAME PROBLEM?
"TAKATA RECALL" ? CHECK AIRBAG LIGHT IS CONTINUOUSLY ON. DEALER STATES IT IS NOT RELATED TO RECALL AND NO RISK. THEY WILL REPAIR FOR A RIDICULOUS CHARGE. IF THERE IS NO RISK, I WILL NOT CONCERN MYSELF. THE LIGHT CAME ON WHILE ON A ROAD TRIP. IT IS UNKNOWN WHAT PART IS AT FAULT OR IF CONNECTED TO TAKATA ISSUES. IT HAS BEEN OVER 6 MONTHS.
REAR DEFROSTER NOT WORKING. DISCOVERED BURNED-UP CONNECTOR IN A PLUG UNDER PASSENGER FOOTWELL FUSE BOX. INTERNET RESEARCH INDICATES THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AFFECTING IMPALAS AND OTHER MODELS OVER SEVERAL YEARS. THIS WOULD THEREFORE APPEAR TO BE A DESIGN DEFECT. OUTCOMES INCLUDE REDUCED VISIBILITY DUE TO INABILITY TO DEFROST/DEMIST REAR WINDOW AND FIRE HAZARD DUE TO OVERHEATED CONNECTOR

I HAVE PROBLEM WITH THE STABILITRAK/TRACTION CONTROL ON A 2011 IMPALA WITH 120,000 MILES. I HAVE FOUND OTHER PEOPLE FROM ALL OVER THE COUNTRY WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO 3 DIFFERENT MECHANICS AND THEY ARE ALL UNSURE AS TO WHAT IT IS. I HAVE PUT A NEW THROTTLE BODY IN, NEW SPARK PLUGS, CHANGE MY OIL FAITHFULLY EVERY 3,000 MILES. IT CONTINUES TO FLASH THE MESSAGE TO ME, DOES NOT HAVE THE SAME ACCELERATION, IS VERY UNPREDICTABLE AS FAR AS REDUCING MY ENGINE POWER AT ANY GIVEN TIME. THIS HAPPENS WHEN I'M DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND EVEN WHEN I JUST START MY CAR. I HAVE TO TURN CAR OFF, LET IT SIT FOR A FEW MINUTES AND THEN IT SEEMS TO RESET BUT THE ENGINE LIGHT STAYS ON FOR A FEW DAYS. THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED WITH AS MANY COMPLAINTS I AM READING ABOUT!
THE ENGINE SPUTTERS AND BOGS DOWN. I HAVE SPENT OVER $300 TRYING TO FIGURE IT OUT, AND NO ONE CAN BECAUSE THERE IS NO DASHBOARD LIGHT THAT COMES ON. IT HAPPENS MAINLY AT A SLOW RATE OF SPEED.
DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY, I WAS REAR ENDED, SPUN AROUND TWO TO THREE TIMES; HIT A GUARDRAIL HEAD ON BEFORE COMING TO A STOP; AIRBAGS NEVER DEPLOYED. THE IGNITION RECALL HAD BEEN FIXED OVER THE PAST SUMMER AT A LOCAL DEALERSHIP.
WHEN YOUR AT A COMPLETE STOP VEHICLE GIVES A HARD JERK LIKE SOMEONE HAS REAR ENDED YOU. ALL OF THE IMPALA'S HAVE A FAILED TRANSMISSION PRESSURE CONTROL SOLENOID WHICH CAN CAUSE ACCIDENTS WHEN IT JERKS VERY HARD CAUSING SOMEONE TO RUN INTO THE BACK OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT OR ANYTHING WILL COME ON LETTING YOU KNOW THE PROBLEM. YEARS 2000 TO 2015 ALL HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. NEEDS TO BE RECALLED BEFORE SOMEONE SERIOUSLY GETS INJURED.

ON THE MORNING OF TUESDAY, JUNE 2ND, 2015 JUST AFTER 10AM I WAS LEAVING MY APARTMENT MANAGERS OFFICE AND WHEN I WAS GOING IN REVERSE AND THEN TO DRIVE AND TOUCHED THE ACCELERATOR THE IMPALA BEGAN TO SHAKE AND ON THE DASHBOARD IT SAID THE ENGINE POWER REDUCED TO HALF AND THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE STABILITRAK. WHEN I PARKED IN FRONT OF MY APARTMENT BUILDING, I TURNED THE CAR OFF THEN BACK ON AND IT WAS STILL SHAKING/ IDLING ROUGH AND ON THE DASHBOARD IS CONTINUED TO READ, "ENGINE POWER REDUCED BY HALF" AND MENTIONED STABILITRAK. THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS ALSO ON DURING THIS TIME. I LEFT THE CAR AND RETURNED 10 MINUTES LATER AND ENGINE LIGHT WAS STILL ON AND WHILE IT NO LONGER IDLED ROUGHLY, IT STILL HAD STIBILITRAK ON THE DASHBOARD.
WHILE AT A COMPLETE STOP, WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN DRIVE, AS I ATTEMPT TO PUSH THE ACCELERATOR TO DRIVE THROUGH AN INTERSECTION, THE CAR WILL STALL FOR A SECOND, MAKE NOISE THAT SOUNDS LIKE A WHINE, AND THEN JUMP FORWARD LIKE IT'S HAVING A DIFFICULT TIME FINDING FIRST GEAR. THE VEHICLE DOES THIS EVERY SO OFTEN, BUT NOT ALL THE TIME. I'VE TAKEN IT INTO CAR X, MY LOCAL CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP, AND ANOTHER LOCAL GOODYEAR TIRES DEALER, BUT NOBODY HAS ANY IDEA WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN HOOKED UP TO A COMPUTER AND TECHNICIANS HAVE LOOKED AT IT, BUT JUST SCRATCH THEIR HEADS. I HAVE A 2011 CHEVY IMPALA AND DURING AN INSPECTION FOUND OUT THAT THE CLUNK I STARTED HEARING 2 WEEKS AGO WAS DUE TO A FRONT ALUMINUM SUB-FRAME CONTROL ARM MOUNT THAT BROKE. THE CAR HAD A SAFETY RECALL ON IT (RECALL 12V377) FOR FRONT CONTROL ARMS, WHICH WERE REPLACED, BUT THE NEW CONTROL ARMS ARE DEFECTIVE ALSO, CAUSING THEM TO BECOME MISALIGNED INSIDE THE SUB-FRAME CONTROL ARM MOUNTS, WHICH SUBSEQUENTLY RUBBED AND WORE THE ALUMINUM SUB-FRAME CONTROL ARM MOUNTS TO THE POINT WHERE IT BROKE. I DO HAVE PICTURES OF THIS. THE FRONT BUSHING IS A VERTICAL BUSHING DESIGN FROM GM THAT HAS BEEN NOTED FOR A VERY HIGH AND REPEATED FAILURE RATE, NOT JUST ON THE W-BODY CARS BUT ALSO ON MANY DELTA PLATFORM CARS SUCH AS CHEVY COBALT AND HHR, PONTIAC G5, SATURN ION. I CONTACTED CHEVY AND THEY REFUSE TO LISTEN TO IT, EVEN THO THIS CAR ONLY HAS 78K MILES ON IT, AND IS ONLY 4 YEARS 1 MONTH OLD, THEY DECLINED WARRANTY. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS AS THE ENTIRE WHEEL CONTROL ARM MOUNTS BROKE AWAY FROM THE REST OF THE FRAME. AND IT IS DUE TO THE SECOND SET OF DEFECTIVE CONTROLS ARMS IN JUST 78K MILES. ANY IMPALA OWNER SHOULD GO CHECK THIS IMMEDIATELY AS IT CAN BE A DEADLY DEFECT THAT GM IS DECLINING TO KNOW ABOUT. IT ALSO AFFECTS OTHER GM 2006 AND NEWER W-BODY CARS: PONTIAC GRAND PRIX, BUICK LACROSSE, CHEVY IMPALA AND MONTE CARLO. THE ISSUE IS, THIS TYPE OF BUSHING USED BY GM FOR MANY YEARS ON MANY MODELS IS KNOWN TO HAVE VERY HIGH FAILURE, AND WITH STEEL CONTROL ARM MOUNTS, IT DIDN'T DAMAGE THE MOUNTS/SUB-FRAME UNLESS LEFT FOR A VERY LONG TIME, BUT NOW WITH THE ALUMINUM SUB-FRAME, WHEN THE BUSHING GOES BAD, THE OUTER STEEL PART OF THE BUSHING WEARS AWAY INTO THE SOFT ALUMINUM CONTROL ARM MOUNT ON THE SUB-FRAME VERY QUICKLY, AND MAY GO UNNOTICED BY THE DRIVER UNTIL IT BREAKS, WHICH CAN CAUSE LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, WHICH MAY LEAD TO A CRASH, CAUSING BODILY HARM OR EVEN A FATALITY.
CAR WAS GOING ABOUT 40MPH. REDUCED ENGINE POWER WARNING, LOSS OF TRACTION CONTROL, AND STABILTRAK TO BE SERVICED. GM WILL NOT COVER UNDER WARRANTY AND IS A COMMON PROBLEM. SOME CARS WILL AUTOMATICALLY JUST SHUT DOWN.
