I HAVE 42,000 ON MY 2011 CHEVY IMPALA AND THE SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL AND THEN REDUCE ENGINE POWER AS WELL AS THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ONE. I HAVE READ IT IS THE THROTTLE BODY AND NOT COVERED UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY, BUT NUMEROUS PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE SAME EXACT THING AND NO RECALL OR ANY KIND OF CARE IS COMING FROM GM.... AND THOSE OF US THAT ARE STILL PAYING FOR OUR CARS ARE GETTING THE SHORT END OF THE STICK... *TR
CANNOT SEE OUT OF THE REAR VIEW MIRROR BECAUSE THE MIDDLE REAR SEAT HEADREST IS VERY TALL. THIS HEADREST IS NOT PRESENT ON THE 2012 IMPALA, SO THIS IS AN ISSUE. ALSO, TURNING AND TRYING TO LOOK OUT THE BACK WINDOW IS IMPOSSIBLE BECAUSE OF HIGH REAR SEAT HEADRESTS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH ALL THE WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED AND INDICATED THAT THE ENGINE WAS LOOSING POWER. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER AND WAITED A FEW MINUTES BEFORE RESTARTING THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS LATER TAKEN TO A DEALER WHO DIAGNOSE THAT THE APP SENSOR AND MODULATOR FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED FOR BOTH COMPONENTS. APPROXIMATELY 1 MONTH LATER THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH AND THE VEHICLE STARTED TO SLOW DOWN WHILE HE WAS PRESSING ON THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. AFTER PULLING OVER THE VEHICLE WAS UNABLE TO ACCELERATE BUT THE RPM'S WERE RISING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND THEY OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 51,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 52,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET IMPALA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60, THE VEHICLE STALLED AFTER THE STABILITRAK, TRACTION CONTROL, AND ENGINE POWER DOWN WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE RESTARTED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED ON ONE OTHER OCCASION WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE WIRING HARNESS WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 34,500.
I RECEIVED MY FIRST RECALL NOTICE 14299, IN MID AUGUST AND I AM STILL UNABLE TO GET THIS TAKEN CARE OF. THE SECOND LETTER WE RECEIVED IN OCTOBER SAID THE DEALERSHIP HAD PARTS BUT WHEN I CALLED FOR AN APPOINTMENT THEY SAID THEY DID NOT HAVE THE PARTS. SO FAR, ALL THEY HAVE DONE IS PUT US ON A LIST FOR AN APPOINTMENT. THE REPAIRS WILL CONSIST OF 2 16 MM KEY RINGS, ALONG WITH AN INSERT FOR THE KEY SLOT, OR A COVER OVER THE KEY HEAD. IF THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH THE IGNITION, DO YOU CONSIDER THIS THE PROPER WAY FOR REPAIRS TO BE MADE ? SUPPOSEDLY THE REPAIRS ARE TO TAKE 15 MINUTES, AND MEANTIME WE ARE DRIVING A CAR WITH 38,000 MILES ON IT, THAT MAY JUST STOP IN TRAFFIC. THERE HAS TO BE MORE DONE TO PROTECT THE PUBLIC, AND IT SEEMS YOUR OFFICE SHOULD GET BEHIND THESE REPAIRS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING DOWN AN INCLINE APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ACTIVATED, THEN SUDDENLY THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO DRIFT UP TO 65 MPH. THE VEHICLE CAME TO A STOP UPON ENGAGING THE BRAKES AND RESUMED AS NORMAL. THE AUTHORIZED DEALER WAS NOTIFIED AND THEY INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS FUNCTIONING AS DESIGNED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 33,000. WE WERE ON THE TURNPIKE GOING ABOUT 60MPH WHEN THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THE SERVICE LIGHT FOR TRACTION CONTROL AND SERVICE STABILITRAK WARNINGS CAME UP ON THE DASH. IT ALSO SAID REDUCING POWER TO ENGINE. THE CAR SLOWED IN SPEED AND BEGAN SHAKING. SERVICE THROTTLE CAME UP ON DASH ALSO. WE HAD NO WHERE TO PULL OFF. THERE IS NOT MUCH OF A BURM ON THIS INTERSTATE AND BEFORE WE COULD GET TO A PULL OFF AREA THE CAR SHUT DOWN IN THE ROAD. WE HAD TO SET THERE FOR 10 MINUTES BEFORE THE CAR WOULD RESTART SO THAT WE COULD GET TO A SAFER PLACE. I HAD MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR IN THE MIDDLE OF THIS ROAD WITH TRACTOR TRAILERS SWERVING AROUND ME CONSTANTLY. ALL I COULD DO WAS PRAY NO ONE WOULD HIT US. WE EVEN CONTACTED 911 FOR ASSISTANCE. SINCE THIS DAY WE HAVE HAD THE SAME CONTINUOUS PROBLEMS. I WILL NOT TRAVEL ON THE INTERSTATES WITH THIS VEHICLE FOR FEAR OF THIS HAPPENING AGAIN. THERE DOESN'T SEEM LIKE THERE IS ANY ONE PARTICULAR THING THAT SETS THIS OFF. BUT SEEMS TO BE WORSENING. I FEEL THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD BE TAKEN CARE OF BY GM. FROM THE CHEVY FORUMS ON THE IMPALA IT SEEMS THIS A PROBLEM WITH THEIR IMPALAS AND THEY SHOULD HAVE TO REPAIR THIS PROBLEM WITH NO COST TO THE CONSUMER BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED. *TR
I'M A 68 YEAR OLD MALE DRIVER,WHO WHEN BUYING A PRODUCT EXPECT A QUALITY MADE AMERICAN PRODUCT. I HAVE HAD TWO SIDEWALL FAILURES ON THE OEM EQUIPMENT TIRES THAT CAME ON MY CAR. THE PROBLEMS WERE POTENTIALLY OF A FATAL NATURE IF NOT DISCOVERED DURING A ROUTINE MAINTENANCE CHECK. I OWN TWO VEHICLES WITH THE EAGLE LS-2 TIRES, I HAVE BEEN TOLD GOODYEAR DOES NOT WARRANT SIDEWALL FAILURES. *JS
THE VISION OUT OF THE BACK WINDOW IS VERY POOR SINCE THERE ARE 3 HEAD RESTS IN THE BACK SEAT. THE CENTER ONE BLOCKS MUCH OF THE VISION. IT IS EASIER TO SEE A TRUCK OR AN SUV BEHIND YOU BUT HARD TO SEE ANOTHER CAR ESPECIALLY THE SMALLER TYPE. THE SIDE VIEW MIRRORS ARE MUCH SMALLER COMPARED TO THE 2003 I USE TO OWN. I WAS TOTALLY HAPPY WITH MY 2003 WHICH IS WHY I GOT A USED 2011. I HAVE ADDED ON THE SMALL STICK ON MIRRORS BUT THEY DO NOT HELP MUCH. WHY CAN GM MAKE SUCH A CHANGE? TO ME THIS IS A BIG SAFETY ISSUE. LOOKING ON THE INTERNET A LOT OF OTHER 2011 IMPALA OWNERS HAVE THE SAME ISSUES. GM SAVES MONEY WITH NO REGARD TO SAFETY. *TR
WHILE DRIVING, THE FOLLOWING LIGHTS CAME ON 3 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASE. SERVICE STABILITRAK, ENGINE POWER REDUCED, SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL. TURNED CAR OFF FOR ABOUT 30 MINUTES, AND LIGHTS WENT OFF AND WERE ABLE TO DRIVE HOME. THAT MONDAY, TOOK CAR TO DEALER, AND WERE TOLD IT WAS A PART THAT HAD SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE FUEL. OUT OF WARRANT, BUT THEY COVERED IT ANYWAY CONSIDERING I JUST PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. SAME LIGHTS CAME ON AGAIN ROUGHLY ABOUT 6 MONTHS LATER, NOTICEABLY WHEN IT'S WET OUT. LIGHTS WOULD EVENTUALLY GO OFF AFTER CAR SITS SO AFTER READING THREADS, I ASSUMED THIS WAS NORMAL WHEN IT WAS WET OUT. LATE 2013 LIGHTS CAME ON AGAIN, HAD WHEEL BEARING REPLACED AND LIGHTS WENT OFF FOR A WHILE. EARLY 2014 LIGHTS ARE ON AGAIN, AND I START NOTICING HARD SHIFTING IN TRANSMISSION, BUT IGNORED BECAUSE I KNOW THERE'S NO WAY MY TRANS COULD BE BAD CONSIDERING THE CAR WAS ONLY 2 YEARS OLD AT THE TIME. THANKSGIVING 2014, I WAS PLANNING A SHOPPING TRIP TO INDIANAPOLIS, AND NO LIGHTS, BUT TRANSMISSION WENT OUT. CAR WOULD NOT MOVE WHATSOEVER, AND I HAD TO GET THE CAR TOWED. TOOK CAR TO SEVERAL DEALERS AND SOME SAID IT WAS THE TRANS AND SOME SAID IT WAS NOT. EITHER WAY, IT WAS GOING TO COST ME A WHOLE LOT OF MONEY I DID NOT HAVE CONSIDERING THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT 3000 MILES AFTER WARRANTY ENDED. HAD TRANSMISSION REPLACED, AND WALLLAH LIGHTS ARE BACK ON. ONE DEALER SAID I HAD ANOTHER BAD WHEEL BARING, BUT DID NOT PRODUCE ANY PAPER WORK WITH THE CODE. TOOK IT ELSEWHERE FOR A SECOND OPINION, AND FOUND OUT THAT THE DEALER FORGOT TO CONNECT THE LINE THAT'S CONNECTED TO THE WHEEL BARING. LIGHTS ARE NOW OFF AND I'M HAPPY. TODAY, THE DAY AFTER CHRISTMAS, NOW THAT I'M FLAT BROKE AND HAVE $30 TO MY NAME, LIGHTS ARE BACK ON AND I'M MENTALLY EXHAUSTED. CANNOT REPORT AS A LEMON BECAUSE I HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE LONGER THAN 1 YEAR, AND MY WARRANTY IS EXHAUSTED. *TR
AFTER I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE THIS SUMMER I NOTICED THAT THE ENGINE WOULDN'T ACCELERATE WHEN PULLING OUT IN FRONT OF TRAFFIC PLUS I HAD TO REALLY PRESS HARD ON THE GAS PEDAL TO GET POWER ON SMALL INCLINES. TOOK IT TO A DEALERSHIP AND OF COURSE THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. IT SEEMS THAT IF THE ENGINE LIGHT ISN'T ON THEY DON'T HAVE A CLUE. SO I TOOK THE MECHANIC FOR A LITTLE DRIVE AND HE STILL COULDN'T FEEL ANYTHING WRONG OR HEAR THE SLIGHT SQUEAK IN THE GAS PEDAL BUT FINALLY TOLD ME ABOUT THE SENSORS IN THE PEDAL AND THAT HE WOULD LUBE IT. AFTER HE LUBED THE ACCELERATOR THE VEHICLE RAN GREAT FOR AWHILE AND NOW IT IS STARTING AGAIN AND THE GAS PEDALS SQUEAK IS MORE NOTICEABLE WHEN DEPRESSING IT. THE THING IS MY FULL WARRANTY HAS NOW EXPIRED AND I DOUBT THAT CHEVY WOULD COVER ANY COSTS. ANOTHER THING IS THE HEADRESTS IN THE BACK SEAT ARE WAY TOO BIG. YOU PRACTICALLY HAVE TO DISLOCATE YOUR SHOULDER TO SEE OUT THE BACK WINDOW WHEN BACKING UP; THIS IS A REAL SAFETY ISSUE FOR VISION. THEY NEED TO HAVE A RECALL TO REPLACE THE WHOLE BENCH AND GET RID OF THESE HIGH HEADRESTS! *TR
MY HUSBAND IS 6' TALL AND WE GOT A 2011 CHEVY IMPALA THE BACK SEAT HAS 3 HEADREST AND THE MIDDLE HEADREST BLOCKS HIS VIEW USING THE REAR VIEW MIRROR HE DID NOT PAY ANY ATTENTION WHEN HE TEST DROVE IT AND WHEN I DROVE IT HOME I COULD NOT SEE THE CAR BEHIND ME SO I TOLD MY HUSBAND AND WHEN WE GOT HOME WITH THE CAR WE BOTH REALLY LIKE IT SO I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND ASK IF THE BACK SEAT COULD BE REPLACE AND THEY TOLD ME NO SO NOW WE ARE STUCK WITH A SAFETY DEFECT!!!! YOU NEED TO DRIVE ONE AROUND FOR AWHILE AND SEE WHAT I MEAN. *TR
THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES TO MY 2011 IMPALA. I WILL BE DRIVING NORMALLY, ANYWHERE FROM 45 TO UP TO 65 MPH, AND I WILL GET A WARNING SAYING "SERVICE STABILTRACK, SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL, ENGINE POWER REDUCED". USUALLY I CAN SHUT THE CAR OFF AND WAIT 5 MINUTES, AND THE MESSAGES WILL CLEAR, BUT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL REMAIN ILLUMINATED FOR THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS, EVENTUALLY CLEARING. THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL FOR WHATEVER IS CAUSING THIS, BECAUSE THERE ARE A LOT OF FOLKS WITH IMPALAS HAVING THIS SAME EXACT PROBLEM. WE AS THE CONSUMER, SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY MONEY OUT OF OUR POCKET, FOR A PROBLEM THAT CHEVROLET CAUSED DURING THE MANUFACTURE OF THIS CAR. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET IMPALA EQUIPPED WITH GOODYEAR EAGLE LS-2 TIRES, SIZE: P225/55R17. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE TIRE HAD BLOWN FROM THE INSIDE WALL BUT THE OUTER WALL WAS STILL HOLING AIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE AND OFFERED TO PAY FOR A PORTION OF THE TIRES. THE TIRES WERE REPLACED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE ON THE TIRES AND THE VEHICLE WAS 30,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MIDDLE HEADREST IN THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE WOULD SIT TOO HIGH, BLOCKING THE CONTACT'S VIEW OF THE ROADWAY WHEN UTILIZING THE REARVIEW MIRROR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED BY A DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 900. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 11,300. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND OUT OF THE BLUE THE STABILITY CONTROL AND REDUCE ENGINE POWER LIGHT CAME ON THE MESSAGE DISPLAY. THERE WERE NO WEATHER CONDITIONS AT THE TIME. THIS HAS HAPPENED 6 TIMES TOTAL. ONE TIME IT HAPPENED AS SHE WAS WARMING UP THE CAR. ALL OF A SUDDEN IT STARTED SHAKING AND SHE FELT AS IF IT WAS ABOUT TO TAKE OFF INTO SPACE. SHE TURNED IT OFF THREE TIMES - EVEN TRIED TO DRIVE IT AND MOVE TO ANOTHER PARKING PLACE AND TURNED IF OFF AGAIN BEFORE IT FINALLY STOPPED SHAKING. *TR
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, THE CAR WILL VIOLENTLY JERK, AND THE DASHBOARD WILL FLASH, REDUCED ENGINE POWER. NOW CAR WON'T MOVE AT ALL. WE HAVE REPLACED THE GAS PEDAL TWICE! CHEVROLET NEEDS TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE. I AM SEEING IT ALL OVER THE INTERNET. *TR
ON 5/11/12, THE "SERVICE STABILITRAK" LIGHT CAME ON; THEN A NOTICE THAT THE ENGINE POWER WAS REDUCED CAME ON. I CALLED THE DEALER FOR SERVICE AND HE SAID I COULD BRING IT IN ON 5/14. I ASKED IF IT WAS DANGEROUS TO DRIVE IN THE MEANTIME AND HE SAID NO. I WAS DRIVING ON 5/12 AND WAS STOPPED IN TRAFFIC WAITING TO TURN LEFT. I WENT TO TURN LEFT AND EXPERIENCED A GREATLY REDUCED RESPONSE FROM THE GAS PEDAL WHICH WAS FRIGHTENING. THE DEALER JUST CALLED ME ON 5/14 AND SAID THE PROBLEM WAS IN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND HE IS REPLACING IT. I FOUND A NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS ONLINE OF THIS SAME ISSUE GOING BACK TO THE 2007 MODEL. I THINK THIS SHOULD PROMPT A SAFETY RECALL, SINCE A NON-RESPONSIVE ACCELERATOR PEDAL IS A SAFETY ISSUE. *JS

I BOUGHT A USED 2011 IMPALA AND DID NOTICE THE REAR SEAT HEAD RESTS WERE QUITE HIGH, BUT THOUGHT I WOULD GET USED TO IT. I HOWEVER AFTER THREE WEEKS HAVE NOT. IT IS A HINDRANCE HAVING TO SPEND EYE TIME ON THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE DUE TO THE SEAT HEAD RESTS BEING TOO HIGH. WHEN DRIVING IN 5 LANE TRAFFIC YOU NEED TO DEVOTE ALL OF YOUR ATTENTION TO ALL AROUND YOU, AND YOU ARE NOT ABLE TO DO THIS IN A 2011 IMPALA. I HAVE NOT CONTACTED THE DEALER BECAUSE IT APPEARS FROM OTHER POSTINGS THAT THE ONLY RESOLUTION AT THIS TIME IS TO BUY 2012 REAR SEATS FOR OVER $400. THESE SEATS ARE DEFINITELY A DANGEROUS ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN. *TR
I HAVE A CHEVY IMPALA, 2011, AND A MONTH OR SO AFTER BUYING IT THE "SERVICE STABILITRAK" LIGHT CAME ON. BEFORE I COULD GET IT INTO A SHOP, IT WENT OFF. IT CAME ON AGAIN YESTERDAY AND MY ENGINE POWER ALL BUT SHUT DOWN, I WAS TRYING TO GET THROUGH AN INTERSECTION AND THOUGHT I WOULDN'T MAKE IT. AFTER RESEARCHING, I SEE THAT CHEVY HAS HAD NUMEROUS ISSUES WITH THIS. WHY ARE THEY NOT REPAIRING THE PROBLEM? THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE FOR DRIVERS. *TR
REAR SEAT HEADRESTS IMPAIR VISIBILITY THROUGH REAR WINDOW. THE CENTER HEADREST IS THE WORST OFFENDER AS IT BLOCKS MOTORCYCLES AND EVEN SMALLER CARS FROM YOUR VIEW. OVER 50% OF THE VIEW THROUGH THE REAR WINDOW IS BLOCKED. ONE MUST USE EXTRA CAUTION WHEN TRYING TO NAVIGATE ON THE ROADS AND IT ACTUALLY CAUSES A DANGEROUS SITUATION WHEN BACKING INTO OR OUT OF PARKING SPACES. A PERSON WALKING BEHIND THE CAR CAN EASILY BE MISSED BY THE DRIVER. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET IMPALA . THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HEIGHT OF THE HEADREST WAS BLOCKING THE VISIBILITY OF THE ROADWAY WHEN THE CONTACT HAD TO LOOK THROUGH THE REAR WINDOW. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND THEY STATED THAT THE DESIGN OF THE VEHICLE COULD NOT BE ALTERED. THE VEHICLE WAS NEITHER DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 32,000.
2011 CHEVROLET IMPALA. CONSUMER STATES ISSUES WITH REAR SEAT HEAD RESTS BEING TOO HIGH. *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED THE REAR SEATS HAS THREE LARGE HEAD RESTS, WHICH MAKES IT IMPOSSIBLE TO SEE OUT OF THE REAR WINDOW. *JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT BELT SEIZED AND THE PASSENGER COULD NOT MOVE AROUND FREELY IN THE SEAT WHEN THE SEAT BELT WAS BUCKLED. DRIVING DOWNHILL A TRUCK PULLING A TRAILER BRAKE SUDDENLY IN FRONT OF ME CAUSING ME TO HAVE TO BRAKE HARD. THE BRAKE PEDAL SHUDDERED AND FELT LIKE I NEEDED TO TAKE MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE BUT I COULDN'T! ADDITIONALLY THE STEERING WHEEL SHUDDERED HORRIBLY SIDE TO SIDE. WHEN I LEFT MY HOUSE TO RUN TO THE STORE THE GAS GAUGE WAS READING HALF A TANK. THIS PI STATES TO THE MECHANICS TO TAKE CONSUMERS FOR A RIDE IN A PARKING LOT AND PERFORM PARKING LOT MANEUVERS AT SLOW SPEEDS.THEN TELL THE CONSUMER IT IS A NORMAL CONDITION IF THE STEERING ISSUE IS DUPLICATED. MY ATTORNEY STILL HAS POSSESSION OF MY INDEPENDENT TECHNICAL EXPERT REPORT WHICH STATES THAT THE STEERING IS EXTREMELY HARD AT LOW SPEEDS.
